Rest in the Lord
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. (Psalm 37:7)
Rest in the Lord is a frequently used expression in the Bible. When the psalmist says, “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him” (Psalm 37:7, NKJV), he’s not talking about physical rest that involves taking a break from activity, relaxing, napping, or stopping to gather strength to continue or complete some physical undertaking. Rest in the Lord refers to a spiritual rest from confusion, worry, stress, useless human effort, and a break from all internal, external, mortal, and spiritual enemies.
The Hebrew word translated as “rest” means “to be at peace,” “to be still,” “to be quiet or calm.” In place of “rest in the Lord,” some Bible translations say, “Be still before the Lord” (ESV and NIV), “Be silent before the Lord” (CSB), “Surrender yourself to the Lord” (GW), and “Be still in the presence of the Lord” (NLT). These versions convey the essential idea that to rest and be at peace, one must dwell in the presence of the Lord, surrendered to His lordship.
In the Old Testament, God promised the people of Israel a life of peace in the Promised Land and rest in His presence (Exodus 33:14; Joshua 1:13–15). But this restful, peaceful living depended on the Israelites remaining faithful and obedient to God alone by keeping their covenant with Him. To those whose hearts strayed from Him, God said they would never enjoy His rest (Psalm 95:7–11).
Eventually, because of widespread disobedience and unfaithfulness, the nation of Israel was taken into captivity in Babylon. After returning from exile, once again, the promise of rest in the Lord’s presence was presented: “So do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant; do not be dismayed, Israel . . . For I will bring you home again from distant lands, and your children will return from their exile. Israel will return to a life of peace and quiet, and no one will terrorize them” (Jeremiah 30:10, NLT). But, again, the people failed to learn that resting in the Lord meant surrendering wholly to the Lord in righteous living: “The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever” (Isaiah 32:17).
In the New Testament, the book of Hebrews declares the good news that those who believe in Jesus Christ can enter His rest: “God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. For only we who believe can enter his rest” (Hebrews 4:1–3, NLT).
As believers, we are not granted immunity from life’s storms, but we have a choice about how we react to those storms. Our natural tendency might be to run around frantically looking for help, trying to save ourselves from trouble. We can either respond frenetically or rest in the Lord’s presence. We can either waste our time worrying or trust in the Lord to take care of us. Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light” (Matthew 11:28–30, NLT).
The writer of Hebrews also tells us that there is a future, final rest for believers in heaven (Hebrews 4:9–11). In the meantime, we can rest in the Lord by taking everything—all our burdens, problems, and anxieties—to Him in prayer. We can tell God what we need even as we remember and thank Him for all that He has done for us already. As we do this—as we abide in Jesus Christ and God’s presence—He promises to pour into us a supernatural, incomprehensible peace to guard our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:6–7).
Right here and now, we can quiet ourselves, be still, and surrender ourselves to the Lord. We can see Him as Isaiah did, high and lifted up (Isaiah 6:1). He is Sovereign over the whole earth, over our lives, and over every enemy, both internal and external, human and spiritual (Isaiah 46:9–11). We can peacefully wait for Him. We can be steadfast, longing, and always looking to Him for help. This is how we rest in the Lord.

No, the neighborhood. We arent really in a wide open area. Fwy and busy streets. He likely was following the creek down from an area a few miles away where his momma had raised him. I asked the biggest cat rescue in CA to see the ring cam video. I think he stayed for a day or 2 then left. I guess the boys are made to leave momma’s territory around 2 yrs old. I was worried someone may hit him w a car or shoot him.

As I sit here in the confines of La Vista Women’s Correctional Facility, my heart compels me to speak out—not for my own sake, but for the countless women around me who endure these harsh realities day after day.
At 70 years old, having lost my son in service to our country, I find myself wrongfully imprisoned, yet my thoughts turn to these sisters in struggle, many so young and full of potential, trapped in a system that fails them profoundly.
The daily grind here is unrelenting. Flashlights pierce the darkness hourly through the night, robbing us of restful sleep. We rise early, navigating a routine that offers little solace. Our basic provisions are meager: three uniform tops and bottoms, five pairs each of underwear, bras, and socks—items so flimsy they fray and tear long before their time. With a mere $13 a month in state pay, these women struggle to afford even the essentials like shampoo, soap, or deodorant. Small comforts, like a treat or extra phone time to connect with loved ones, remain out of reach for so many.
To add insult to injury, out of this meager $13 allowance these women are given, every medical visit requires a $3 charge just to be seen.
The nourishment we receive falls far short of sustaining body and spirit. Processed fare dominates our trays—tater tots, hot dogs, fish sticks—reminiscent of a child’s school lunch, devoid of vitality.
It’s been over a year since I’ve tasted a fresh tomato or crisp romaine lettuce. The prison grounds, while aesthetically pleasing with their manicured lawns and blooming flowers, mask a deeper neglect. Why lavish resources on ornamental beauty when fertile land lies ready for cultivation?
Imagine transforming those spaces into gardens where these women could learn to plant, harvest, and preserve their own food. Such skills would not only reduce costs but empower them for life beyond these walls, teaching self-sufficiency for all seasons of life.
Yet, the true tragedy lies in the absence of meaningful programs. Favoritism runs rampant, with some inmates favored for better placements despite troubled histories, while others languish in general population amid volatility.
My own cell, a repurposed laundry room scarcely 40 square feet, forces my roommate and me to maneuver awkwardly, unable to stand simultaneously. Pods house 20 women, rooms crammed with six at a time, fostering tension in an environment ill-suited for rehabilitation.
Education and skill-building opportunities are promised but rarely delivered. A class intended for three to four months stretches over a year due to staffing shortages—guards quitting en masse, leaving untrained teachers to fill security roles. This delay not only hinders personal growth but blocks access for others, impacting parole prospects.
The parole board, unaware of these barriers, penalizes women for incomplete programs, perpetuating cycles of despair. There’s no instruction in practical life skills: balancing finances, organizing one’s affairs, or managing savings. An inmate savings program could foster responsibility and provide a foundation to build upon after release, giving so many of these women a chance to break the chains of recidivism.
Spiritually, we are starved as well. Church services and the sacred act of worship are granted only once a month—a scant offering for souls seeking guidance and community. In this void, women with low inmate numbers—those who’ve cycled through the system repeatedly—highlight the failure. There are no tools given to them to thrive outside, leading them back to what they know.
Technology lags behind compassion in this place. Unlike other facilities, we lack video visits, denying mothers glimpses of their children or connections with distant, elderly family. Equipment sits unused instead of bridging hearts separated by miles and misfortune.
These women—forgotten, idle, bored—deserve better. They could contribute to the prison’s upkeep, growing food, maintaining the grounds, or learning trades that would alleviate institutional burdens while building their futures. Prison should repay society’s debt through transformation, not stagnation.
I see their struggles, hear their stories, and it moves me deeply. Though my own path is unjust, it’s their voices that must echo beyond these bars.
I will continue to advocate for them, risking retaliation, because silence serves no one. Reform is possible: nutritious meals would go a long way to restore these tired women. Programs committed to educating and more available time to engage in worship would nourish their souls. For the sake of these women, our daughters and sisters, we must demand change.
I ask that everyone who reads this take a moment to pray for these women.
There is of course a price to pay for the choices that we make in life. Still, we must remain committed to seeing the humanity and inherent value in life and there is no better place to start than those battered hearts and souls in our own nation.
Pray for America, for these women I have been humbled to live with this past year, and pray for the truth to set us free.

I worded my prayer very carefully as I knew it was for those who had broken the law.
Some years ago I served on a small ministry team where we would provide worship and teaching from the Bible for those in a minimum security prison. More recently I have learned how the private prisons extract every little bit of money they can get out of the prisoners.
TY Gudthots. My husband had an opportunity to play a worship set at a men’s prison with our former church “recently”. It was an incredibly moving experience for all the guys participating both in ministry & there to receive ministry. The inmates were Starved for this kind of interaction with the Lord & with Believers. The harvest is surely ripe with the captivated!

Jordan B. Peterson, PhD, is the Canadian psychologist who was persecuted and prosecuted by his former college employer for his conservative views on “multiple genders”, and for his opposition to “universal vaccination” against COVID-19 in Canada. He was eventually fired from his teaching job and had his license to practice clinical psychology revoked. Per Wikipedia, he now lives in the US and works at Ralston College.
It appears that Dr. Peterson is not COVID-19 “vaccinated.” His current condition of CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) can be the result of exposure to things like mold spores.
Thanks for providing that info. I read at one time that Peterson only ate meat, which he believed had benefited his health over the years. I do not know if he was still on that diet or whether it could be factor at all.

I’m reading Dr Davis’s book, Super Gut, at the moment and he was referencing research saying that a lot of dementia has been found to be driven by fungal infections in the body/brain after leaky gut (often caused by modern food additives and drugs).
Jordan’s inability to transition from carnivore to a diet with natural fibers (that would feed proper and other gut microbes) could be explained by dysbiosis, SIBO, and/or SIFO.

Inflammation is the cause of many chronic conditions. The key is identifying the cause of the inflammation and then to stop exposing the body to the trigger. Just treating the side effects of the inflammation is what leads to the chronic part. Been there done that. I only got better once I stopped treating with medication and took control of my life and health.

Was Dr. Peterson exposed to multiple persons who were COVID-19 ‘vaccinated”? Very likely — out of every 10 people, 7 or 8 have been “vaccinated.”
Does Dr. Peterson have a family medical history of inflammatory conditions, such as RA? Possible.
Could COVID-19 “vaccine” shedding have “kicked off” any possible predisposition to inflammatory conditions in Dr. Peterson? Unknown, but the potential cannot be dismissed out of hand.
All that said, there is also the role of chronic, severe stress / anxiety, which can of itself wear down the natural immune system and pave the way for inflammatory responses by the body.

I’ve been absent due to a combination of things, including unexpected health problems that forced me to solve a bunch of non-health home problems – the whole thing was a nightmare. Then I check the site – and it turns out that there was a big blow-up on Friday that I just found out about earlier in the evening.
I don’t have time to do the moderation stuff now – it has to be the next time I get on here, whenever that is, hopefully later today, but no guarantees, because more home emergencies. Generally speaking, I need to be in a state where I can check the bin several times a day. I’m not there yet.
If y’all can avoid another blow-up in that time, I would appreciate it. Also prayers that I don’t have to go to the hospital are potentially helpful. I don’t think it’s necessary, but I could be wrong.

Imagine someone as enthusiastic as those people converted to become Christians. They would be hearts aflame to live (and die) for Christ in ways American Christians never would even consider.

“David complains to God of his enemies, and confides in God. (1-3) He triumphs over his fears, and gives God the glory, and takes to himself the comfort. (4-8)
1-3 An active believer, the more he is beaten off from God, either by the rebukes of providence, or the reproaches of enemies, the faster hold he will take, and the closer will he cleave to him. A child of God startles at the very thought of despairing of help in God. See what God is to his people, what he will be, what they have found him, what David found in him. 1. Safety; a shield for me; which denotes the advantage of that protection. 2. Honour; those whom God owns for his, have true honour put upon them. 3. Joy and deliverance. If, in the worst of times, God’s people can lift up their heads with joy, knowing that all shall work for good to them, they will own God as giving them both cause and hearts to rejoice.

if i may relate a family incident. I had words with a relative every time we were at the same function. eventually i thought that if i knew this person was going to be there, i would not go to avoid the conflict. However, it only emboldened that person. He started arguing with my children, hoping he could drive them away too. That’s when i learned the most difficult lesson of my life. Smiling and not saying a word. I came back to the family functions–my head held high–and reclaimed my family. I do not engage this person–I simply smile at him and walk away. Difficult to be sure, but i am standing my ground. And i know, by not engaging him, I am robbing him of the conflict he needs to feel superior.

A federal judge on Friday set a hearing on whether the child-trafficking case against MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia was due to “vindictive prosecution.”
US District Judge Waverly Crenshaw, an Obama appointee, set a hearing based on public statements made by Pam Bondi, Todd Blanche, Kristi Noem, and others.
Kilmar Abrego Garcia is an El Salvadoran national who was illegally residing in Maryland. In 2019, an immigration judge ordered Abrego Garcia, an alleged member of the dangerous MS-13 gang, removed from the US.
After a months-long court battle over his deportation, Kilmar Abrego Garcia was transported back to the United States from El Salvador to face criminal charges.
A federal grand jury in Tennessee recently indicted Kilmar Abrego Garcia for “transporting undocumented migrants within the United States.”
He was charged with one count of conspiracy to transport aliens and one count of unlawful transportation of undocumented aliens.
According to the indictment, Kilmar Abrego Garcia and co-conspirators from El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and the US were trafficking illegal aliens from 2016 through 2025.
Judge Crenshaw has requested discovery as he set a hearing.
“[Abrego’s] prosecution may stem from retaliation by the DOJ and DHS due to Abrego’s successful challenge of his unlawful deportation in Maryland,” the judge wrote.
“Actual vindictiveness may be apparent based on the Executive Official Defendants’ and their subordinates’ statements about Abrego from the time he filed his Maryland lawsuit” challenging his deportation “through his arrest in this District,” the judge wrote in a 16-page ruling.
Abrego Garcia’s lawyers recently asked Judge Crenshaw to impose a gag order on Bondi and Noem so he could have a ‘fair trial.’

Devin Nunes: Well, I think you just have to answer yourself the common sense question is, was it a conspiracy or not. Clearly, unless you’ve been hiding under a rock somewhere, this has been a conspiracy to weaponize the US intelligence agencies against the most popular Republican since Ronald Reagan, and that is President Trump. It was all designed to target and take down one of your political enemies, so much so that they actually raided his home, a private home of a former president at that time. I mean, these are not things that allow a Republic to be in a situation where it can withstand the long run if you have intelligence agencies that are effectively working with the fake news, working with nonprofits, all to benefit one political party. That’s what you’ve had.

Most importantly, I think lying and misleading, I think that’s a key word, misleading Congress and other investigations. Devin Nunes: I talked with you throughout this 10-year period over and over again. I remember many years ago, you would say, We’ve asked them for these documents. We’ve asked them for that document. They sat on it and waited and did not give you the documents as chairman of the Intelligence Committee or ranking member as the Intelligence Committee. You demanded these documents. Tell us how specifically, Jim Comey and others may have misled you and the Congress…
…Now the President has made me chair of this intelligence board. We are working to help declassify where we can all the information that you now are seeing come out. Where I think it’s pretty clear is, let’s talk about two interesting dates, Maria. One was in August of 2016 in the Obama White House with Biden and a bunch of other cast characters there, including Komi, including Brennan, where they are told by Brenan that, Hey, there’s a hoax going on. That’s my word. That basically, the Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC are looking to frame President Trump, or that time, candidate Trump, with this Clinton email scandal. If and when these emails come out, they wanted to make it look like it was the Trump campaign working with Putin. They knew that in August of ’16. Now, how is it possible that all of these cast of characters that were interviewed by multiple, not only the House Intelligence Committee, but also in the Senate, and Horowitz, and all the way to Durham, they just had amnesia, just forgot about this. All those years went by, and they don’t remember that this was a cover up for the Hillary Clinton email campaign…

Look, I’ve got the majority staff report right here on the intelligence community assessment of the Russia influence campaign targeting the 2016 election. You believe that was one of the things they were looking for when they raided Mara at a lago, but it wasn’t there?
Devin Nunes: Yeah, that’s right, because that was supposed to be declassified. We asked President Trump to declassify that in 2020. We were told that it was declassified. We thought that that information was going to be at the archives like all the information should. But then when we asked the archives about it and other people asked the archives for it, it wasn’t there. That document is very damaging. It’s a 40-page report that House Republicans worked on for a long time, not only my committee, and now the current chairman, Rick Crawford, was able to get that information out. It’s a very damning report that showed what? That Russia didn’t think that Trump was going to win, which I think we all know. Once again, just common sense in ’16, why would the Russians be helping someone that they didn’t think was going to win?

SD: “A disturbing set of text messages from Virginia Democrat nominee Jay Jones has recently surfaced. The text message exchange shows Mr. Jay Jones openly advocating for shooting then Republican speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates Todd Gilbert.
The text messages show a rare glimpse into the psyche of a Democrat politician running for higher office. Even if you take the politics of the issue out of the equation, these are the text messages from a severely disturbed mind.
“Three people, two bullets. Gilbert, Hitler, and Pol Pot. Gilbert gets two bullets to the head,” the text reads in part, referring to Republican Speaker Todd Gilbert and the two dictators.
Factually, well beyond politics, this is not an emotionally or cognitively stable person.
The disturbing messages come amid a larger conversation about Democrats and Leftists promoting violence in the wake of the Charlie Kirk assassination, and the politically motivated execution of Democratic Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman in their home earlier this year.
Democrats have been defending their promotion of violence for several weeks, and now the documentary evidence, provided by Virginia Democrat candidate Jay Jones, is staring them directly in the face. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the Virginia Democrat Party is now defending Jay Jones and supporting his violent messaging.
This is very unsettling.
Early voting for Virginia’s statewide races in November is already underway.

And also (2) a development in the case of a leftist would-be assassin of a conservative Supreme Court Justice, who traveled across the country, heavily armed, with the stated intent of murdering up to three right-leaning Justices because he was angry about their abortion jurisprudence. The leftist judge in the case rejected prosecutors’ request for a multi-decade sentence, giving the defense team the very lenient sentence they’d sought. The leftist judge, in her reasoning, cited the criminal’s trans identity as a factor & expressed happiness that the assassination plot and its aftermath helped with the criminal’s family therapy around the trans issue.
And also (3) yet another violent leftist attack — this time an apparent ambush — against federal immigration officers. This did not take place in Dallas, where a leftist sniper very recently went on a deadly spree while trying to murder as many ICE officers as possible. This one happened in Illinois, where the leftist governor just called these officers “jack booted thugs.” Violent attacks on these federal agents (thugs, fascists, gestapo, per various leading leftist politicians) are up approximately *one thousand percent,* per DHS.
And also (4) a prominent university being pressured into reversing its attempt to shut down a conservative event commemorating the second anniversary of the Oct 7 terrorist massacre of Jews — because, the school said, they were worried about the security situation around the event. They were referring, of course, to the violent Islamist-Leftist coalition pro-Hamas mob, which has engaged in harassment, threats, violence and murder ever since that mass slaughter.
AND YET, we see many of our leftist friends tweeting and posting about how *their opponents* are the “dangerous” and “authoritarian” “fascists.”
I ask you to try to contemplate, even for a quiet moment or two, how this might strike many of us.

Male bus driver who goes by ‘Ms Sharon’ charged with sexually abusing multiple boys
A North Carolina school bus driver who calls himself “Ms. Sharon” has been charged with sexually assaulting several boys whom he lured to his house, cops say.
Leetwain Darrell Tate — a 48-year-old a male also known as just “Sharon” — was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of statutory rape and six counts of indecent liberties with a minor, according to Charlotte-Mecklenberg police.
He is accused of assaulting at least four boys age 14 and 15 years old, but officials said there could be more victims.
The children were found to be staying at his house, and one of them claimed Tate offered him money in return for sex, an arrest affidavit obtained by WCNC read.
Tate drove school buses for the Sugar Creek Charter School in Charlotte, but was suspended during the weeks-long investigation and then fired on Sept. 30, WCCB reported.
None of the alleged crimes occurred on school property or while Tate was working his bus route, police said.
Tate, who is listed as 5-foot-7 and 210 lbs., was sent to the Mecklenburg County Jail, where he is being held on $1 million bond.
His family has insisted he was innocent of the charges, but neighbors say they’ve been left “disturbed” by the allegations.
