Determinism: The view that every event has a cause and that everything in the universe is absolutely dependent on and governed by causal laws. Determinism is related to fatalism, since determinists believe that all events, including human actions, are caused by something else. Determinism is typically thought to be incompatible with free will.
Fatalism: The belief that “what will be will be,” since all past, present, and future events have already been predetermined by God or another all-powerful force, such as “Fate.” In religion, fatalism may sometimes be confused with predestination, the doctrine that God chooses those who go to heaven before they are even born. It’s important to note that the Bible teaches predestination but not to the exclusion of free will; thus, the Bible does not teach fatalism.
Free will: The freedom of choice or self-determination that human beings possess; those who believe in free will believe that, given any situation, a person could have done other than what he did. Philosophers have argued that free will is incompatible with determinism and fatalism.
Indeterminism: The view that there are events that do not have any cause; many proponents of free will believe that acts of choice are independent of any physiological or psychological cause.
Theological fatalism or theological determinism is an attempt to demonstrate a logical contradiction between an omniscient God and free will, where free will is defined as the ability to choose between alternatives. In this it is similar in purpose to the conundrum “Can an omnipotent God make a rock too heavy for Him to lift?”
Theological fatalism’s premises are stated as follows: God is omniscient. Since God is omniscient, God has infallible foreknowledge. If God has infallible foreknowledge that tomorrow you will engage in an event (mow the lawn), then you must invariably engage in that event (mowing the lawn).
Therefore, according to theological fatalism, free will is not possible, since you have no alternative except to participate in the event (mow the lawn). If you do not mow the lawn, then God is not omniscient. But if you mow the lawn, then you don’t have free will, on account of your inability to choose an alternative.
Here is an opposing argument to theological fatalism: God is omniscient. Since God is omniscient, He is also infallible. If God has infallible foreknowledge that tomorrow you will mow the lawn, then you will freely choose to do so, not out of obligation or lack of choice. You still have free will to mow the lawn or not mow it; God merely knows your choice before you make it. You are not obliged to mow the lawn tomorrow any more than you are to play tennis or bake a cake. If you were going to change your mind, God would have seen that also, so you still have free will in all matters. Also, you will still make the same choices (exercising your free will), even if God chose not to see the future. God’s passive foreknowledge of the future does not alter your free will.
There is a vast difference between fatalism, chance (or fortune), and predestination.
Fatalism teaches that there is a blind, impersonal force over which no one has control—not even God—and that events are swept along by this blind, purposeless power.
Chance (or fortune) is a capricious force that supposedly causes things to happen “luckily,” without any control or direction by God. In a world ruled by chance, God can foresee what will happen, but that is all. Everything depends on mere luck. And if the advocate of chance is asked why or how things come to pass, he has no reply except to shrug and say, “It just happened.”
Predestination, the doctrine of the Bible, says that God has a purpose and He is working all things out according to His own will and purpose (Ephesians 1:11; Daniel 4:35; Isaiah 14:24; 46:10). Predestination teaches that God neither does nor permits anything except what serves His purpose (Psalm 33:11). This means that GOD IS the SOVEREIGN of the world, the One who does all things as He wills.
Those who blindly believe que sera, sera, or “whatever will be, will be,” are as wrong as the advocates of chance. It is true that events are certain, but only so because of the sovereign God who fulfills His own decrees.
Serious students of the Bible do not believe that things “just happen.” Christians reject fatalism and godless determinism. Rather, they understand that a wise, holy, good, and sovereign God has control of every detail of life (Matthew 10:29–30). The man who does not really want God to have this control or who despises the truth of God’s sovereignty does not love God and does not want God in his life. But God is sovereign, and He cannot deny Himself.

Predestination. Just the word appears intimidating. It is perhaps one of the most difficult concepts in all of Christian doctrine because it appears on the surface to rob humans of their most precious treasure: their autonomy.
Although the doctrine challenges our notions of self- determination, it is ultimately what separates Christians from humanists, who proclaim that the fate of the world is ours to decide. The past, they say, has been fired in the kiln of history and cannot be altered, but tomorrow is still soft and pliable clay, ready to be shaped by the hands of humanity. Individually and collectively, we—not an almighty figment of wishful thinking—will determine our own future. Put in today’s terms, “It’s all about us.”
God’s Word teaches exactly the opposite. God not only created humanity and directed our past, He has already shaped our future. “Our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases” (Ps. 115:3).
Coming to terms with the doctrine of predestination requires a dramatic shift in our perspective. We emerge from the womb and progress through childhood viewing the universe with ourselves at the center. Then something wondrous happens at some point in the process of maturing—for most healthy adults, anyway. We suddenly realize that the world extends beyond the circle of our own horizon and that others see the same world from a different viewpoint. Soon, the universe no longer revolves around us, and we accept that our little circle is but a very small part of a much greater reality.
The same is true of salvation! We faithfully share God’s “plan of salvation” with individuals—as we should—but we too often fail to appreciate that Christianity is not “all about us”; it’s about Him. If we are to proclaim the complete gospel of Jesus Christ, we must recognize and embrace God’s masterplan of salvation. The almighty Creator is fulfilling His own agenda for His universe, which cannot be altered; therefore, those who have heard and accepted the plan of salvation have become a part of something much greater than themselves, even if they don’t realize it.
Take a few moments now and reread Romans 8:28-39 in light of God’s master plan of salvation. We tend to claim the promises of those verses as individuals. God does indeed love us personally and individually, but note that Paul used the first-person plural, “we” and “us,” throughout the passage. This does not promise that God will alter the universe to ensure the highest good of each individual. On the contrary, God’s “plan of salvation” is a mighty river of destiny into which a believer plunges. This river of righteousness will eventually flood the world, washing away the old order to make room for the new. And when Jesus returns to set all things right, our belief in Him allows us to become a part of that new order.
Make no mistake: Paul’s letter to the Romans is not about our salvation. His primary subject is the righteousness of God, of which our salvation is a part. The Lord is pursuing His own agenda, remember. It is to remove death from the throne of creation and give it to His Son so that the righteousness of God will rule all things. And He will do this whether anyone decides to join Him or not.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. Romans 8:28-30

There is some hope. PAVACA has identified a likely problem – the jab. If he got jabbed in the month before he started going south, then adding treatments for restoration of vascular health are likely to be extremely effective in stopping the slide and maybe even reversing some of the damage. And no further jabs.
Also, the drugs. Catching the connection to cannabis is a big break in his case. Post-pot psychosis is a very real thing, in certain people, and they nailed a textbook case here. Cleansing his system of THC will do wonders. It can take a month or two to completely clear his system, but it can happen.
Would not surprise me if the Clowns did this. Get a friend to give him pot. That is literally ALL they had to do.

Then, his family (including Yours Truly) began to notice that he was “different” — he was becoming withdrawn, losing interest in helping to take care of his grandchildren, etc.

Then, he made a decision one day in early spring 2024 that he was “too fat”, and put himself on a true starvation diet. Other things went on.

It should only be in synthetic mRNA. It’s the only time or place that it’s useful to them. Otherwise too expensive to bother with it.
It is questionable whether Big Pharma’s immunity covers this situation. I’d advise them to petition for guardianship and then sue all of the manufacturers for failing to warn. Let them sort it out in court.

Phoenix airport is named Sky Harbor. They had to shut down departures one day in 1990 when the temp reached 123 because the pilot’s charts only went to 122.
On that day, I was repairing vehicles outside just south of Sky Harbor.

i have to ask an out there question. We live in the woods and have a cathedral ceiling in the front of the house with mostly all glass. like the picture below.
we’ve had bats during the night all summer long most nights and they leave “little calling cards” which i sweep away in the morning. It’s never been a lot just enough to tell they’re getting the bugs, mosquitos, that gather mostly at the peak.
Ever since the smoke clouds arrived, the bat poop has increased 10 fold! anyone have any ideas why?

that’s an interesting question. our front looks more like this…with the trident beams supporting the peak over the deck and i suppose that creates a “cave like” opening–but as for smoke blowing by? i dunno. the house does face north though.
I have some knowledge of this.
During the summer, bats use those apexes to roost during the night, between flights, while feeding. They will return to more fully hidden places (often just cracks and crevasses) during the day. In winter, they return to caves where they can over-winter. They may migrate to and from those caves.
My wife noted that recent smoke and/or rain has driven fireflies higher in the trees. That may or may not have something to do with this. But a very important point is that July and August are huge feeding months for bats. They are definitely fattening up right now.
I just checked a nearby bat house, which has been mostly abandoned, and saw that there has been some recent activity. That’s interesting.
It may be that the smoke has increased nomadic behavior, and several bats just “discovered” your area. They love those overhanging, open-roofed structures, whether porches or just eaves.
The amount of guano at bat roosting places is very “spiky” – it can be zero, and then suddenly there is a lot. That is usually just due to bats starting to feed and stopping due to the weather cooling off, or arriving and then leaving the area.
It is possible, however, that the fires induced a bat migration at an odd time (summer). Here is more information that could support that theory.

Migration due to smoke/fire has been saving species of flying creatures for hundreds of millions of years (see BIRDS and meteors/comets). Those Canada fires are HUGE. I think you may be onto something. Fire escape to the south may very well have turned into an early migration.
we happily coexist with them as long as they don’t get in the house.
the bat guy’s method was pretty interesting, He installed funnels of sorts that allowed the bats to leave the house at night, but not return in the morning. He let that the way it was for 2 weeks. then came back and inspected the roof again and declared them gone. then he resealed everything.

may be on the bats. it’s a yearly thing since we moved here. we installed a bat house but they preferred the house and somehow got in the roof. We had a bat guy remove them and he resealed the area they had gotten into. they’re gone from the roof, but that area–the peak–still attracts them–but never this much before!

Both articles say that the shape of the logo on state highway signs is the miner’s spade.
That might be accurate for today but when I got to California in late 1967, the logo was a beehive [honoring the honeybee, without which the crops which made the state rich would not exist]. Very similar shape but definitely not a spade/shovel.
There is not a mention anywhere I can find supporting my memory of the beehive logo. I will continue looking.

I would not paint with that broad of a brush, but there is some truth in it. I think of certain “communities,” some full of U.S. citizens who are notorious for “feral” behavior, and other groups of noncitizens who insist on living here but changing our laws and way of life. This is not conducive to positive race relations, and it’s not the fault of white people. It’s time to overcome political correctness and call a spade a spade: Many people don’t want to be around that kind of behavior, and they shouldn’t have to welcome those who act that way. Some people merely don’t want to watch their own culture being changed, and rightfully so.
Many minority people come here precisely because they love America and like it just the way it is. They’re not the problem. The problem for those people, is they have relatives, and kids who get sucked into the divisive left.

Weather says air quality ok except for “dust and dander”. Is that because secondhand Canadian smoke is classified as “dust and dander”, or is it because said smoke doesn’t fit in any of the usual buckets?
The Canadian smoke might be classified as “dust and dander.” On the other hand, it’s been so dry around here that several days of soaking rain are needed to clear the garbage out of the atmosphere. So there’s already a ton of dust and dander floating around just from the dryness.
Right now, I’m hydrating like crazy, I made myself eat something (protein was included), make sure I’m taking some salt, took vitamins and minerals, and am doing some breathing exercises, etc., to try and calm the panic-anxiety symptoms.
I’m putting all items having to do with being outside off my plate for the next few days.
I first looked at Asheville and said, “well, this isn’t so bad. It’s raining all the schmutz out of the air and cooler.”
Then I looked at High Point. Gack!
I looked at a few more local places — none promised instant relief.
Hubby read the 10 day forecast and we get a week of thunder storms. We had a real gully washer last night but it did not do much good. My eyes are still burning and I am having to use my inhaler. 😡
I got in my car late this afternoon, which was parked under a canopy, so in the shade. The car thermometer gauge read 97 degrees. That’s the OUTSIDE-THE-CAR temperature. In the SHADE.
We are having some hellishly hot weather across the country right now.
That is for sure! I did a jig yesterday (not far from PAVACA) and it was brutal. The air quality made it even more miserable.
Thank goodness a neighbor loaned me his truck which has A/C. Please pray for him too. He does emergency electric/line work and I think he is now in NJ.
Heat + stress + smoke is good if you’re a brisket, not so much for our dear CV. Hopefully you can find some cool clean air.

My heart is rapidly pounding
My state of affairs confounding

What is wrong with me I cannot say
But it just keeps on and won’t go away
Settle Me, Lord help me to rest
In this condition I cannot do my best
Whatever it is from it wash me clean
Teach me a lesson from which to glean
Your thought process has brought you here
You gave up your authority my sweet dear
I gave you calming music you listen not
You let ‘it’ control you and you got caught
There is no medicine that can cure ‘it’
There is no formula than can detour ‘it’
I gave you the power to stop this attack
I gave you the means to pick up the slack
Exercise, breathing, and thought control
All of these will again make you whole
Emotional turmoil blocks rational thought
Eliminate it and you will be as you ought
Change your attitude change your life
Positive thinking diminishes strife
Movement replaces emotional confusion
All of ‘it’ is actually an illusion
You can take control and beat your distress
By changing your thoughts eliminate stress
By exercising you switch your concentration
Your physical movement serves as activation
Your shiver and shake ceases to be
Your uncertainty dissolves instantly
Your mind directs your body to move
And your anxiety begins to improve
God gave us the ability to heal mind body spirit
We just need to learn how to clear it not fear it
The body does what the mind commands
It moves it rests it contracts it expands
So it is with emotions as well with control
Our thoughts can trigger disconnect or cajole
Our attitude plays a part in this scenario as well
It is where we decide we are going to dwell
Negative thinking brings about negative outcomes
The opposite is true and to what it succumbs
When we take authority of events in life
We eliminate the stress and the strife
Whatever the problem or issue that disturbs you
It is nothing you and God together cannot subdue
When God enters the situation the solution is clear
You will have eyes to see and ears to hear
So Settle Me, Lord as only You can
Help me to see and perfect Your plan
Take away the illusion of ‘it’
Cleanse me from all and every bit
