I think we would be surprised at how many people would quietly start to come out in support, if they were given “permission” by the public figures they rely on to open Overton Windows for them. That is pathetic, cowardly, lazy, & self-interested, because they are often consumed with how they appear to the people around them, rather than forming their own opinions & standing by their own beliefs, but it is the reality of many of our fellow citizens. People are cowards. They are afraid to form & stand by their own beliefs because they value social standing more than personal autonomy & the integrity that comes with being principled; more comfortable instead with social consensus & being included in the group. But, if the conversation shifts publicly, lead by people who are safer to express public opinions, the tide will change.

A Democrat running for governor of Ohio has declared “I do not support boys playing in girls sports. This is already settled law in Ohio, and as governor I will enforce and uphold the law.”
The way for Democrats to neutralize the trans issue is to co-opt GOP positions on sports, private spaces, child transition, and compelled speech, supporting the removal of gender ideology instruction from schools, bans on child transition, and the removal of recognition of gender identity in law at every level of state, local, and federal government.
Everybody wants to think there is some other way. But there is no other way.
