We were gonna go see that WW2 film currently out, but the projector was out at the theater, if you can believe it and they were FORCED BY DISNEY to have three screens for Frozen2, so couldn’t screen the Midway film until later in the day.
We ended up seeing Ford vs Ferrari. Surprisingly good film.
I will keep that recommendation filed away!!!

Under the guise of likely wanting to keep their livelihood, too many of them parse their words. Mollie Hemingway was guilty of that last night with one of her tweets. Notice how she uses an innocuous word like “weaknesses” instead of blatant lying, conspiracy to commit criminal acts, etc.
Good point. I understand that part about weaknesses – THAT is out at the individual journalist or officer of the law. And those weaknesses (wanting the BIG STORY, etc.) are not just manipulations that journalists fall to INDIVIDUALLY – those weaknesses are EXPLOITED by NEWS ORGS, and bring into question the actual validity of news orgs.
And THAT brings back an old idea of mine – that NEWS STORIES need a kind of “union defense” which prevents them from being spiked. Basically, the idea is that journalist stories cannot be “captured and killed” or “spiked” – if they are NOT RUN, they are automatically UP FOR GRABS.
Not sure how to work that out, but that would prevent one of the biggest abuses by politicians and BANKS, carried out through “captured” news orgs.

Seriously, I don’t know whether it was summer’s natural sunlight, “tan-in-a-bottle”, Live-Edit Photoshop, or the work of CHANEL cosmetics, but she used to be WAY darker on OAN.
Could be the same phenomenon that gives us “orange man bad”, too. But some gals just have skin that can be brightened or darkened easily with a simple choice of cosmetics, which is what I suspect is going on.
All that crap aside, the important point is that she was able to take the indecipherable mess of Ukraine and Rudy’s easily (but prejudicially) dismissed presentation of that and make it deadly to the bad guys.

The art history around it was enthralling but the idea that the artist intended to capture impeccable beauty is rather fanciful.

Brings me to a small “rant” I’ve been pondering….
Personally, one’s sexual preference is pretty much uninteresting to me, but often we are forced to witness because that’s what they want. And, unfortunately highly public figures are fair game in the gossip mill…true or not.
Barney Frank was blatant about his homosexuality…Obama has a demonstrable “bathhouse” record, Anderson Cooper walks around holding hands with his lover, etc.
But, others such as the SCOTUS judges seem to be very, very discreet. And I think, if in fact, Senator Graham lives that life, has been very, very discreet. I’ve followed him for years mainly because he’s my Senator and have never heard one fact about any partners, etc. there are individuals who simply are interested…I had 2 uncles and 3 male cousins that never dated and they are far from being homosexual. On the female side, I think of Condaleesa Rice, or the late Barbara Jordon, etc.
And, so my “mini-“rant” is the constant, degrading application of names like “Miss Lyndsey.” If unproven, I think it’s unfair and doesn’t really accomplish anything useful.
Okay…now I can go on to ponder other important things…whew!
Yeah, I have my doubts on Lindsey Graham being anything less than a number of other men I know: the one they wanted got away, and they decided not to look any farther.
Being a classical musician, I’ve been surrounded by homosexuals for a long time. The men are far less aggressive than the women, that’s for sure. I honestly think they were vulnerable following rejection at some point. A number of them have female friends they’d be married to if they were straight.
Personally, I think it’s part of the keep the population down campaign. Take a number of the sires out of the gene pool, and there will be fewer children.
Well, in Graham’s case he was very young (around 18, as I recall), with a younger sister and lost both parents. Graham became the parent and bread-winner and literally raised his sister while going to college and eventually into the military. So, responsibilities in life often dictate riorities.
In my uncles case (and my hubby’s never-married aunt’s), they ended up caring for the elderly mothers. That’s what you did in those days…it was expected..and there really was no other choice.
That’s what is still expected. Some of us are there. A lot of my childhood friends are in the same place, too.

I disagree that Purdue is responsible in any way for the opioid problem.
OxyContin is a brand name of Purdue. It is formulated to be extended release and unsuitable/unable to be used to get high. Oxycodone is the generic drug name and it is what the dope fiends want. It is also what the people in pain get when they buy on the street (because they can’t get pain meds from their doctors).
Why is Purdue settling the suit? Most likely because the bean counters decided that it was too expensive and risky to go to trial. Fortunately, Purdue is too big to go out of business because if it did, the patent would be sold off and probably not sold in the US in the future.
Opioid overdoses are mostly due to illicit street drugs from China and Mexico that are spiked with fentenyl. Little of the problem is due to over-prescribing.

So what do we make of all this? Well, it’s clear that the original narrative was inaccurate — there was no dispute over a MAGA hat. Currently, there is no evidence that the sheriff’s department and the superintendent are misrepresenting their findings. There is also no way to confirm the girl’s mother’s claim that the other student used a racial slur — but even if he did, that is no excuse for violence.
However, the second video does show that the victim of the attack wasn’t quite as innocent as he has been depicted, having used violence himself before the incident.
What this all boils down to is a stupid dispute between teenage students that escalated into violence. Then, it was elevated into the realm of the sensational. A form of the all-too-familiar outrage porn that sets people off online and further exacerbates racial tension.
