Some medico dip-brain in New Hampshire was supposed to be in a voluntary home quarantine and, instead, attended a conference.
At a minimum, the law should strip such imbeciles of all medical certifications for being incompetent and stupid; and also render them civilly liable for the costs incurred by everyone else at that conference who is now under a voluntary quarantine.
All these idiots think they can go all Kaci Hickox with no ill effect. A Roman Centurion of 50 BC knew very well what quarantine meant, and if someone under quarantine was found outside the isolation zone they would have been speared, about 3 cords of wood would have been stacked on top (without recovering the spear), and the pile set ablaze. THAT is the way you snuff a pandemic. It’s been known for well over two thousand years…..but now #RESIST.
Forgot to mention — he’s now testing positive. Idiot. Can you imagine the billing rates of all the people at an invitation-only medical conference? His negligence is going to sideline everyone who attended with him for two weeks. The language was intentionally harsh and threatening because he needed reactions from the right. He needed this to be broadcast far and wide, and it worked. Everyone’s busy talking about him and abortion right now, just as he intended.
The Senator was referring to the Louisiana abortion bill that forces doctors to have admitting privileges at hospitals in order to perform abortions. All things considered, it’s not a bad bill even from a pro-abortion perspective as its intent is to make sure patients are in safe hands when killing their babies. But that hasn’t stopped the left from making it a sticking point for the election. In fact, that’s really their best play at this point.
It doesn’t matter how the Supreme Court rules. Schumer set up a two-edged sword Democrats will wield regardless of whether Chief Justice Roberts sides with the left or the right. This is why Schumer was very specific in his attacks on the two Justices appointed by President Trump. If the court allows the law, Democrats will call it an attack on women’s rights. If the court strikes down the law, Democrats will call it near-miss that makes it imperative a Democrat is in the White House to protect Roe v. Wade going forward. There is no viable outcome in which Democrats won’t play this as a women’s rights issue targeting the November elections.

Instead of traditional “Portland” cement, this new concrete incorporates fly ash, which is a byproduct of burning coal for power. In a way, using ash to make concrete is something of an old trick. Ancient Roman engineers mixed volcanic ash and quicklime to create their signature building material, and it’s one of the reasons some of the structures they built still stand today. What the team at Swinburne University have managed to do is to incorporate synthetic fibers into their concrete mix, and create a process to manufacture it without heating the mix to cure it.

Kanawha Circuit Judge Tera Salango sentenced Richard Smith II, 41, on Wednesday to serve between 205 and 775 years behind bars.
Smith was convicted last month of 11 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, four counts of sexual assault and five counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person in position of trust.
After handing down the sentence, Salango told Smith the videos he made that jurors had to watch “brought grown men to tears,” the Charleston Gazette-Mail reported.

The British civil service is at war with our Home Secretary, Priti Patel. One longstanding civil servant resigned last weekend. Another one, who barely worked with her in a previous post, blamed an overdose on her. Alleged ‘bullying’ in both cases.
Under normal circumstances, one would think that our Home Secretary would be defended because she is a woman and a Hindu. (Her parents were immigrants, but she was born in England.)
Instead of denouncing sexism and racism on the part of civil servants, however, Labour have gone on the attack, pressing for Priti Patel’s resignation.
She is trying to get access to various ‘reviews’, e.g. of grooming gangs, but civil servants won’t give them to her. Naturally, she is vexed. It is alleged she said ‘sh*t’ and ‘f**king useless’ in a couple of her conversations with them. They were traumatised.
Civil servants are supposed to be apolitical. I tell my friends that stopped in the late 1990s with Tony Blair. They’re all lefties now.
They are supposed to SERVE whatever minister they work for, regardless of political party. By extension, by serving that minister — e.g. the Home Secretary — they are serving the British people.
But, no. Priti Patel is seen as the baddie.
The woman is trying to drain the swamp and they will not let her.
So, we have our own swamp draining op in progress with the civil servants fighting back (media very much on their side, naturally). This is no different to what has been going on in the US with people like the Vindmans and Sondland trying to make policy, resenting when PDJT exercises his powers in the Executive.
Sad, but not unexpected, situation.

3. Remdesivir has already proven effective in lab tests against a range of coronaviruses.
4. Remdesivir worked against various coronaviruses in mice.
5. Remdesivir has been shown to prevent and cure monkeys (rhesus macaques) afflicted with the MERS coronavirus.
6. Remdesivir worked against even the most divergent coronavirus called Porcine deltacoronavirus.
7. Remdesivir has been proven to work against every coronavirus tested against whether in lab or animals.
8. A U.S. patient and a French COVID-19 patient both recovered after being administered Remdesivir on a compassionate use basis. The French article wasn’t easy to find but it said the following (translated with Google translate): “The 48-year-old patient infected with the new coronavirus and released from the Bordeaux University Hospital on Thursday, after 22 days of hospitalization, was treated with remdesivir, a “promising” antiviral, said his medical team on Friday.”
9. It’s a promising sign that this patient was treated after 22 days and still recovered. Typically, if you are in the group that gets really sick by that time you’re in intensive care. One question with vaccines/therapies like this is how effective they are once you already are sick. Giving a vaccine in a preventive manner is the lowest bar for a treatment to beat. Being administered on a compassionate use basis to patients that are 22 days in and appearing to be effective is a much higher bar. Admittedly, we can’t derive conclusions from two patients that seem to have improved (if you know of any documented compassionate use cases please PM me) but it’s something. Especially in combination with the commentary from the medical team: “…It is “today in the state of knowledge the most convincing promising candidate for an evaluation,” he added, adding that the choice of this drug had been made “collegially at national level, in consultation with WHO ”(World Health Organization)…”
10. CDC officials told the medical team treating the infected man in Washington about Remdesivir after his condition worsened. Meaning both WHO and CDC are currently recommending this as a last resort compassionate use option.
11. Gilead stated it’s building up manufacturing capacity. Over the last couple of weeks, it already has coordinated with contract manufacturers to start producing Remdesivir. The company also stopped production of one of its approved products to churn out more of the stuff. This exudes confidence and perhaps also indicates the company expects COVID-19 to spread widely.
12. A Chinese company called BrightGene has started to manufacture Remdesivir as well. BrightGene’s share price went up ~70% to a ~$4 billion market cap.
13. Two studies of Remdesivir already are underway in China. Two-thirds of enrolling participants are given the real drug, which is quite unusual.
14. In the U.S. a trial for COVID-19 on humans has started as well.
15. National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow: “Gilead will probably come up with a vaccine faster than most people realize.” Kudlow is no expert on vaccines but he is likely to be well informed in a crisis situation, although his political agenda needs to be considered.
16. Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases: “We expect we will see community spread in this country,” “It’s not so much a question of if this will happen anymore, but rather more a question of exactly when this will happen and how many people in this country will have severe illness.” This is not unexpected to me as I’ve been researching COVID-19 since January 22 but it’s definitely unwelcome. Economically Gilead (by my estimate) is most sensitive to spread as opposed to the average price per dose of Remdesivir.
17. Gilead has been granted 3 patents on Remdesivir in China as of today. Another good sign after some earlier patent shenanigans where a Chinese research center applied for a patent.
