I’m bringing this over from late yesterday to see if anyone can shed light on it. Kalbo posted a link to an article that sides with Yaacov Apelbaum’s claims that debunk Jack Maxey’s being able to get more data from Hunter’s hard drive. Dave of X22 also lends Apelbaum’s claims some credibility. I don’t have a dog in this hunt; I just want the truth.
On Maxey’s GETTR, he says the info will be released by this Friday (Good Friday). He posts this explanation and article.

Can any of the tech experts here explain whether what Maxey says, and what is said in the article, rings true?
I haven’t read the article, but I’ve got some insight.
First, there is a difference between “copying” a drive, and “imaging” a drive. Imaging a drive is independent of filesystem and allows you to create a way to re-construct an exact copy of the the drive that will echo bad sectors, deleted files, weird partitions, encrypted areas, etc. It attempts to capture everything possible about the source drive….which is why the image typically resides on a larger drive.
As Maxey notes, 3:1 compression is no big deal.
Now we come to a very important point. If I were looking to construct a drive that fulfilled the “hints” we have heard so far, I would have no problem doing so. However, that’s not what we are being asked to believe. We are being asked to believe that this peculiar pattern of data was found on Hunter Biden’s personal Apple laptop. We need some semi-plausible PATH to have the data get this way.
If you gave me an identical computer, $2000, and a list of Maxey’s hints, I could almost certainly make its hard disk dovetail with those hints. The question is whether a corrupt, addled, sex-crazed crackhead might get there accidentally. And we won’t be able to tell that tale until we see how the other stories roll out from the rest of the data.
As an example, one email might say, “started a backup and got bored, so invited Cindy over with her younger sister. They were like ‘ok’, but just hanging around until I broke out the pipe. After a little ‘pixie dust’, the sister was ready to go all night and I don’t remember what the backup did.” That email might show why the series of backups got gacked on that day.
One commonality in all the Cabal garbage is a rush to judgment — Hunter’s laptop is nothing; Ukrainians are good guys; COVID is deadly; the only thing for COVID is vaccines; all vote fraud was settled January 6. In every case you get a thimblefull of bullshit and it’s demanded that you immediately opine upon regarding Cosmic Truths.
Where it should be a hurry — WAS THERE VOTE FRAUD IN XXXXX???? — is slow-boated; where there should be no hurry whatsoever — who is more sympathetic in a Ukraine/Russia tiff that shouldn’t involve us in the least? — has the drumbeats of immediacy.

They’ve held this damned thing out of public view for two years, and now we’re supposed to be making fundamental judgments regarding its veracity in a week based on incomplete accounts from secondhand sources???
Abelbaum says it wasn’t an image (according to who?); Maxey claims excess space (based on what?); MacIsaac’s image is sometimes an image and sometimes something else.
[I should note that the APFS filesystem attempts to do a hard distinction between system and user data (somewhat like Android).]
We should be withholding judgment until the signal-to-noise improves, and we get significantly more data.
There are references for this stuff going back to statements by MacIsaacs – I think on YouTube.
At least it’s getting stirred up now. I think we will have a definitive technical explanation soon, because the GEEKS now smell blood in the water.

BINGO! Too many variable we just do not know. There are LOTS more ways to do a recovery, AND you do not NEED an exact clone, just the data. You do not even NEED the malfunctioning computer, JUST the HDD. Is the drive an SSD? Is it an older magnetic platen disk?
We do not know how the drive was partitioned. We do not even know how old the laptop was, or how long Biden used it. I also have issue with the ” non removable 256 GB SSD” I think even Apple allows for HDD and memory upgrades, meaning they are removable and to a point upgradeable.

Has there been any reports of a second hard drive on the Hunter laptop? I assume not. Somewhere in this string there is the thought of two lap tops. Why not one laptop WITH two hard drives?
Could it be the original hard drive IS in fact larger than 500GB, say, 1 TB or whatever. The hard drive was partitioned, given the illusion of multiple hard drives.

I’ve been thinking about this, and there may be merit. If this guy was as much of a crook as we think he is, he might have had a very gnarly drive with hidden partitions, which may have appeared just “wonky” to MacIssacs.
My leading theory right now is that MacIsaacs copied to the same drive that he attempted to clone to, and that the clone job successfully wrote deleted files to it.
Plus the theory that the laptop could not be repaired, and kept rebooting, enabling the HDD to be lost does not hold water. YES it would be expensive, but it COULD with the right amounts of $$$ thrown at it be MADE to function. It sounds like the liquid damage either shorted out the MB, CPU, OR power supply, Memory AND HDDS might have been unaffected.
That is just it we do not know. Some PC’s and laptops have multiple HDDs or SSD’s, a typical setup is for OS and programs, with a separate drive for JUST data. I suppose soon we WILL find out. I trust that Rudy had had a team combing over what he was given since the start.
Oh and yes it is possible to have MULTIPLE partitions on one HD that act just like another physical HD. Also those partitions CAN be hidden and unseen to an OS. That happens in PC’s all the time. Windows and Linux dual boots for example. ONE physical HDD, with 2 partitions and two OS that NEVER co mingle. Formatting the “virtual HDD” would NOT erase the data on other multiple partitions on the SAME disk.
Many many years ago I lost a hard drive. Not physically but two partitions went “poof!”
I imaged it onto its replacement and worked the image over. I eventually figured out what had happened (bollixed up partition table, partially my fault) and was able to recover everything by simply pointing to the correct address of the FAT table and root directory and reading everything. Of course I had to write the software to read everything, recursing directories, but that wasn’t too hard.

Windows, believe it or not. (This was about 20 years ago.)
As it turned out, I got bit by Norton Antivirus. I had used partition magic to resize my partitions and Norton “restored my boot sector” which had been changed, months later.
So of course the partitions in question now pointed to places that didn’t have a FAT table and root directory. I realized this after I found the first missing partition’s root stuff deep inside the previous partition. I had shrunk the previous partition to make more space for the partition that I lost.
Norton, BTW, later did add a feature that would let you reverse a boot sector “repair.”
Ah, I remember those days. Windows was a lot more “hands on”, in the immediate wake of the DOS era.
I still remember opting for a 30 meg hard drive, instead of just the big 20, and getting oohs and aahs from the lunchroom crowd.
In fact, if I remember correctly, Norton started based on utilities, and then moved to antivirus when that became a big seller. My father swore by Norton everything.
Wow. Ancient history!
Not quite THAT ancient; this was a 20 GB drive. That ran hot so I had to encase it in a dingus with fans, which made it require a 5 1/4 bay instead of a 3 1/2.
But it still used a FAT system and I could call BIOS interrupts to read sector numbers…that’s how I took the original image (which went onto a 120 GB drive, as 20,000 1MB binary files).
After that I could write ordinary C code that would take a sector number, figure out what file it was in, and go read me that sector.
I could then scan for the beginning of a picture JPG file, and so I was able to recover all photographs by simply copying everything from the beginning of the file, to the beginning of the next file. (This worked, because I had just defragged the disk right before I crashed it.) Sure, I ended up with a lot of very large picture files that contained a lot of crap after the picture ended–some other type of file.
I then discovered that Microshaft Word/Excel file headers were a LOT less straightforward, and came up with the bright idea of scanning for a directory structure, so I would know what to name the files I read.
Shortly after that I discovered the root directory for the partition, and the FAT table…not where I expected it! At that point it was straightforward to simply write a program that did the same thing as XCOPY, out of the image files, and onto a new place on the new disk.
Yep, and my first HDD was a whopping EIGHT MB 386 sx 16 HZ I believe/ . LOL with either ONE MB of RAM or 512 K. and a 5 1/4 floppy drive. LOL MS DOS was pre installed
I remember my first “REAL” computer was a 486 SX 25 (MHZ clock speed) with FOUR MB of RAM, AND A CD ROM drive with a Whopping 120 MB HDD. Windows 3.1 came pre installed with 3.5 floppies (31 disks )
Memories, it was LOADS better than my TRS 80. Remember we NEVER thought we would ever need more RAM OR HD
space.

In a MS system there are 2 FATS. One is basically a copy. As long as that was undamaged, you should have been able to “rebuild” the partition. I have done it before. Do you remember a program called GHOST. I used to LOVE that imager. It was bought out originally by Norton, and then by MS I believe, who killed it. (Windows recovery)
They were probably BOTH undamaged.
The issue was that the partition table had been altered, so it wasn’t looking for them in the right place.
The system literally couldn’t find anything at all where E: was supposed to be because, in “restoring” the old partition table, it made D: look larger than it was before and the E: root stuff was all deep within D: suddenly. So, when the system went looking for E: drive it found nothing at all there that should be at the beginning of a drive. As far as it could tell, the drive needed to be formatted!
PS I hate the way some stupid popup menu gets in my way should I dare to type a colon. (Yes, I know why it does it but then I can’t see what I am typing.)
First, leftists ALWAYS rush things, because the LIES they tell are NOT mainstream, and will be found out, debunked, and fought against the LONGER it takes. The left always rushes to get something done BEFORE the truth can be disseminated on their LIES.
2nd, and I am sorry I do not remember. Does Apple use FATs or the like? I know in a Microsoft system there are two FATS, a primary we use and a back up we do NOT. Is it possible that somewhere in the backup FAT is where Maxey got his data. Also there is “slack” or unallocated space on Microsoft based PCs is that where some of the data could be? Not as up on Apples, but in Microsoft systems you can always recover a lot of the data even if overwritten…Windelete being a fav of mine.
It is EASIER to get text than video and photos, as text is less corruptible than big video files, and it is the corruption from we writing multiple times which makes files unrecoverable.
Also it is important to remember, Hunter had TWO laptops. Without delving much into the Maxey stuff, is it possible the files are from BOTH laptops combined.
There are a multitude of other options as well. From cloud backup, to even using backup software that saves and ALLOCATES space on the drive (to not be overwritten)
Text compresses MASSIVELY. Photos are a bit less, and video is the HARDEST to compress, but even then there are .MPG H4 compressions (I think Apple uses some of that, but not in quicktime .MOV files.
I guess it depends upon the USAGE that Hunter did with his laptop. It IS possible that he did not defrag or cleanup his drive often, had a backup, AND did not use a large portion of his HDD, thereby allowing lots of space that was un corrupted.
I guess we will know when we see the evidence. OH, and never forget, a LOT of Apple uses sync their back up accounts with their laptops, the cloud, AND their I phones, so they ALL share the same data…then there is Itunes that can also store tons of music, pics, AND video on the cloud as an automatic setting, AND be restored to a certain date I believe…
Perhaps he uses Time Machine.
TL;DR – this Sam Faddis article is true, but if what I know about all the drives is true, then what Faddis has to say is almost totally irrelevant.
Here are the critical truths that prevent Faddis’ stuff from mattering.
(1) the empty space on the original laptop drive was small.
(2) the empty space on the original laptop drive was NOT CLONED OR COPIED to the recovery disk, and thus to any copies after that.
I just don’t see how Maxey gets past that.
Maxey was never GIVEN any “deleted files” from the laptop in question to undelete. If he FOUND legitimate deleted files on his disk, then IMO they came from somewhere else – like the other laptops – and were copied to the disk, but then erased, and THEN the disk was used for copying just from the third laptop (it was copied by hand, not cloned).
You see what I’m doing there? I’m making semi-plausible excuses for Maxey’s story.
If there ARE really “deleted Hunter Biden emails” on the disk he got, then they did NOT come from the Laptop From Hell – they came from the two laptops that went home to Hunter.
It would mean that a clone disk from laptops 1 and 2 was erased and used for the HB copy (laptop 3), and when THAT hand-copied destination disk was cloned, the old cloned erased data went with it.
And in that case, Maxey would be trying not to rat out the cloning of the other two laptops.
We don’t know who did that. It may not have been Isaacs. That could have been an op.
If you have an evidence disk, you don’t copy files off of it — you image it. ALWAYS. And that DOES copy deleted/encrypted/weird partitions.
See the alleged facts I just added – that they were supposedly unable to do a clone. True? Not true?
But yeah – cloning failure. Which is much more common than people think.

He (computer shop guy, MacIsaacs) attempted to do cloning to the same destination disk, and it “failed” – but that doesn’t mean that it didn’t copy data! So the failed cloning DID copy some of the empty space on the original drive to the recovery drive in – and then he did a HAND COPY on top of that.
This makes sense. There were accidental files from failed cloning on the drive. But they didn’t show up as data (empty disk), so he simply copied by hand on top of the “failed” cloning.
This is plausible.
That’s a great illustration of what we’re facing. We’re not talking about WHAT THERE IS, because we’re denied the ability to see it all. Instead, we get misleading descriptions of WHAT THERE IS, and are asked to speculate about HOW IT GOT THERE, without getting a full picture of WHAT THERE IS. And, BTW, all the misleading descriptions are by people we have no reason to believe are trustworthy.

Is it possible that the original “recovery disk” was in fact FIRST used for a “failed” cloning that actually copied the erased data, and THEN it was used as described for a hand copy of the home directory? That would explain the presence of deleted files that otherwise would not have been copied by the manual copy process.
I know that some cloning devices report a failure after a lot of work done.
Rest assured that Rudy has and has HAD people on this from the start, nearly 2 years now. ANY phuckery from Maxey or ANYONE else will be outted QUICK.

Elon bought almost 10% for $2B. Rumor had him on the Board. The stock, which had been drifting off into Hades, rallied so Elon’s bit was worth $3B. In the meantime, Elon starts trolling ’em hard. Now there’s an announcement that Elon will not be on the Board.
GROUNDLESS PREDICTION: Elon will sell his $2B stake to an insider for $4B, wait for all the insiders to unload stock to the “greater fools” in the market and drive the price down…..and buy a 10% stake in the company for about $2B in six months or so.
Makes sense!
Note that he’d essentially be putting a tax on company insiders to keep on going their own way…..at $2B per cycle. Doesn’t cost the actual company anything.

My husbands car has a problem something is broken but the Subaru is still on warranty. Instead calling Columbus 2 hour drive to pick up the car he decided to call Huntington W V one hour away. I always thought it was two I was wrong.
They guy comes and there is a rule one cannot drive with the guy and has to take own car. My husband goes out comes back grinning after 5 minutes tells me ” I drive with the guy he said its ok wink wink he is a deplorable.” Not only that if they cannot fix the Subaru today they give him a loner for free.
