And, of course, the obligatory George Carlin:

Per the Boss:

And now for the obligatory message from our sponsors:
Here at the Q tree we believe in the concept of CIVIL open free speech and the discussion that fleshes out ideas. When commenting and participating in the OPEN discussion on this thread all comments MUST NOT CONTAIN personal threats, baiting, name calling, or other anti-social words fomenting hate, violence or destruction. Our host Wolfm00n has strict rules about that.
Fellow tree dweller, the late Wheatie, gave us some good reminders on the basics of civility in political discourse:
- No food fights.
- No running with scissors.
- If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone
Please, stock up on blanks for celebratory gunfire, be ready to swing from the chandeliers…and no messing with the nuclear weapons.
Please remember to remain locked and loaded and ready for trouble should the insurrectionists try to invade your space.
Those who have things to say that do not fit the generally accepted limits of “civil” discussion, Wolf has provided a venue known as the UTree. You’re welcome to visit over there and say hi to anyone hanging out over there. The “Rescue Thread” is also over there. In the event a rendezvous of the tree is needed, please check it out, as well as the newest rescue venue.
Auntie DePat’s requests:

Thank you so much for any and all attention to such details. It is GREATLY appreciated by more than one party here.
One other vital note:
Please, review these rules that our host Wolfm00n outlined toward the beginning of the growth of the tree itself. it won’t take long.

PSALMS 110:1-4
1The LORD says to my lord: “Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool.” 2The LORD sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your foes! 3Your people will offer themselves freely on the day you lead your host upon the holy mountains. From the womb of the morning like dew your youth will come to you. 4The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind, “You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchiz’edek.”
MARK 3:1-6
1Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there who had a withered hand. 2And they watched him, to see whether he would heal him on the sabbath, so that they might accuse him. 3And he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Come here.” 4And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. 5And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. 6The Pharisees went out, and immediately held counsel with the Hero’di-ans against him, how to destroy him.
As always, prayers for the fight against that which seeks to enslave us are welcome.
Please include: President Donald Trump, the Q team, our soldiers in the field, special forces, tactical units, first responders and those working behind the scenes…and any and all people with family members in the hospital, COVID or not.
And…members of the QTree who no longer participate for one reason or another. More than one is going through a rough time right now.

It is quite clear, as per Wolf’s message from July, that we are under spiritual attack. Building up a robust arsenal of prayer and discipline is a must in fighting the enemy and his minions.
In that spirit, the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel from Tuesday’s threads, and the Breastplate of St. Patrick, not to mention the Litany of Humility are favorites recommended by exorcists in spiritual warfare.
Unix is dead. Long live Unix!
Don’t expect to see any more big AIX news. This means the last Unix left is… Linux
https://www.theregister.com/2023/01/17/unix_is_dead/
I was under the impression that BSD had an old AT&T v7 UNIX license at its inception.
Wow. I had to read it to believe it. Solaris turning into vaporware – WOW.
I remember seeing a ton of Sun hardware down at Weird Stuff and thinking…..”but, but, but….this was popular a year or two ago.”
Now there’s an option. Buy an old workstation for the memories. Wife ain’t gonna like it, but yeah. They can be pretty retro.
And then run Linux on it! 😂
QubesOS!!!!
95% of that impressive old hardware couldn’t run Qubes to save its life.
What does it run, in your experience?
Steve can tell you more about what Qubes actually runs on, but you need Intel/AMD 64-bit hardware, multiple cores, and 16G+ of RAM.
I’ve got some 8-core Xeon workstations with 12G RAM that I might eventually try.
Old Sun gear runs old Solaris — good luck finding an installation disk. I’ve seen SGI Indigo workstations….again, proprietary, good luck finding the software for scrapped hardware. I used to own an AT&T UNIX PC…..life is too short…..
They even had a VAX 11/780 at Weird Stuff for, IIRC, $250. I could have used the equipment cabinet as a base for a dining room table.
Yeah, I hear you. I do have some old Solaris laying around somewhere, but not so sure what it actually is. Might be open version, which was problematic even in its best days.
LOL! Might as well be PLAN9.
Holy smokes, I think I used to work on an 11/780…back when it was top of their line.
I’ve even worked on a Cray 2.
The 11/780 I am thinking of was huge, not just a vertical cabinet.
But the more I think back on it (35 years ago) I think most of the size was a physically gigantic array of 300 MB hard drives, each roughly 18x18x12 inches in size, and also a gigantic power supply (the size of three small (but full size) refrigerators).
You’re right, no doubt.
It’s fussy about hardware even today, not because of specs but apparently some things just don’t work with it.
Been there, done that. Got rid of most of ’em.
The stuff I’ve had in my garage….I actually had TWO wide-format dot matrix printers — one by Anadex, and the other by Printronix after they bought Anadex. If you set ’em up right, they could print an entire box of greenbar paper — or invoices, if you had sprocket-fed forms. Best of class, and built like brick telephone booths — must’ve weighed 75 pounds each. Beautiful machining, kevlar belts, heavy-duty linear bearings….
Finally got rid of them when ribbons became unavailable. Probably should have broken out the parts.
If I’d have kept them, I probably could have made them into 3D printers — the linear bearings were that solid and that smooth.
But, of course, I got rid of ’em 10 years before desktop 3D printing was “a thing”.
Remakers should be more of a thing. I loved that repurposed microwave oven!
So much is considered disposable.
At Maker Faire, people were doing things like using rejiggered toaster-ovens as tiny batch surface-mount IR solder machines. Having actually done prototype-to-manufacturing, having one of these on a bench would have saved SO MUCH time and money (part of the trick is that you do a five minute preheat at about 275, then do the solder reflux at 425 for about 75 seconds, then drop to 300 and taper to 150).
Between Maker Faire and the engine builders, you start seeing opportunities in everything. (You might look into the Cabin Fever show next year — https://www.cabinfeverexpo.com/ )

Huxley: “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”
In case you missed it last night, Scott was arguing that the only proper instrument for Christian services is the human voice. He brought many citations and thoughts, so this wasn’t just an idle whimsy for him. I don’t necessarily agree, but he brought a lot to think about…..then buried it in the after-midnight section of a prior day’s post.
Here’s a link to where he was really rolling, but I’d encourage someone to scan both higher and lower. https://www.theqtree.com/2023/01/17/dear-kag-20230117-open-thread/#comment-1033490
It’s an interesting question. I get both positions. Personally, I see both sides as trying to make a traditionalism appeal, which is interesting. One goes as old as Christianity – one goes older.
IMO the only way I think it would be definitively solved, would be if biblical scholarship could determine fairly convincingly to all Christians that Paul’s objection to “sensuality” in straying churches had anything to do with instrumental music, because that would then pit canon against it, but I personally suspect that this wasn’t even on his radar.
Here is a great reference I found!!!
https://www.bible.ca/H-music.htm
I think there is merit to various positions as well, but I find myself rooted in cynicism.
Without any musical instruments, I suspect that you are most likely to experience nonrhythmic discordant cacophony in spontaneous song. A good example would be a restaurant version of “Happy Birthday”. While we are given free will by our Creator, I find it difficult to imagine that such is His desire.
I could easily see a particular church limiting instrumental accompaniment to a soft tap of a tambourine and subtle chords in respect of the human voices singing Praise, but I find it difficult to imagine a random group of people producing other than noisy gibberish without.
On the other hand, I think that most of us could agree that accordions are abomination, drum solos are unholy, and auto-tune is grounds for excommunication.
I think a ban on K.I.S.S. and Black Sabbath might be in order, too!
In church, I should hope so.
OTOH, for fun…..
A song about a spectral hebephile….
More fun, of a botanical nature —
After I have my tea, I’ll come back to this.
Beautiful, in tune polyphony is possible without instruments, but it takes singers who know what they are doing.
Without ANY musical instruments, you need singers trained to be able to hold pitch. Even with such people, it tends to sink. Seriously, I was in a chorus that held pitch during the Rossini Stabat Mater a cappella movements, and we were complimented by anyone who heard that performance. It just doesn’t happen all that often.
As for the accordion, I disagree. In the right setting, like an Irish dance feis, they’re great. At Church…only if that’s the only thing available, and yes, I’ve been to Mass where that was the accompaniment.
Auto-tune is part of training for singers, actually.
Absolutely correct about discordant.
Next time you’re at a birthday party with everyone singing around the cake unaccompanied – take a listen. It’s an eye-opener. Unless you have ringers in the bunch keeping it straight (functioning as an accompaniment instrument) it will be all over the map.
I was annoyed at that whole thing last night. I just wanted a brief answer to a simple question. Where is it written that God considers music (singing, instruments, take your pick) an effrontery in worship?
No one wants bad music in church. No one wants the crassness of the modern world banging out from the chancel. No one wants a loud, poorly voiced electronic organ shrieking in a dry room. No one wants a sub-par vocalist bellowing out on a sub-par PA system. I could go on and on. Everyone’s heart is in the right place – but bad music, poorly executed, lacking aesthetic sensibility, does not belong in church. Not because it shouldn’t be part of worship, but because it’s a distraction from worship. An intrusion on worship.
One of the problems I have with the new mass is that the congregation is asked to sing way too much. (More than the denominations with the real singing traditions ask of their people.) We require that these poor folks sing the:
Entrance Hymn – Kyrie – Gloria – Responsorial Psalm – Gospel Acclamation – Offertory Hymn – Sanctus – Acclamation – Amen and Agnus Dei . . . and that’s all before the distribution of the sacrament. And then, just to make sure they’re completely engaged, let’s make them sing something while they’re on line for Communion. It’s like the value of silence, as punctuation, has been totally lost. It’s just ridiculous. Needless to say, my husband and I never punished our people with this monotony.
Technically, we’re supposed to sing the Creed, too. And the Eucharistic Prayer should be chanted. Actually, there’s music written for everything from “May the Lord accept the Sacrifice…” to the Angus Die (Lamb of God), but a lot of priests can’t sing well enough to do it.
As a cantor, I’ve argued for years not to expect too much in the way of singing from the congregation, but the pastors out there won’t hear of it. I also would prefer we do the Antiphons for processional, Offertory, and Communion, but we’re held hostage by two Missalette companies, and what they have to sell that the bishops won’t reject.
I was only talking about the standard weekly procedure, with the expectation of “participation” indicating “engagement” by the congregation. ( I’ve never done a sung creed except when accompanying the latin mass.) We often used a choir anthem at the offertory, almost always unaccompanied SATB during communion, bringing the organ back, barely audible, after communion. There is literally no concept of aesthetic ebb and flow in most churches.
Yes, it was always OCP materials with us. Although we’ve used Watershed psalms as well. That’s why I never understood the need for the ridiculous “cantor” arm-raising, which we never did. These folks have heard the same material for a quarter century. 🙄
I’m going to disagree with the invitation to sing.
Multiple places I sing, and have sung, have gone to “worship aids” so we can diversify from what’s in the hymnals.
Real quick example of voices making beautiful music without accompaniment. This is actually one of my favorites, and the choir I sang it with really doesn’t exist anymore.
When I’m more awake, I will answer this. “Sensuality” can be taken different ways. There’s the way most people think, i.e., what leads to continuation of the species, and then there is engaging the senses. Music, incense, art, and all of that engages the senses which is why it is used for the greater Glory of God.
Sensuality in music needs a backbeat.
There’s a lot that goes into it.
“Here is a great reference I found!!!
https://www.bible.ca/H-music.htm”
_____________
That is the first website I found which I couldn’t trip up, after spending around 7 months going from Christian website to Christian website, making a game of “spot the error”.
I was skeptical, but I decided to look, to see what I could find.
After reading the Bible straight through, one time, and then checking various Christian websites, most of the time I could find something in the “About Us” or “Statement of Faith” page that was not according to God’s Word, in under a minute.
As soon as I did, I moved on to the next one.
If I hadn’t made a sort of game out of it, I would never have kept at it long enough to find one that taught just what the Bible says, not more and not less. I would have abandoned the search, convinced that nobody taught or practiced Christianity as it is in Scripture.
Error is not hard to spot, if you have read the Bible once. More is better, but once is enough to spot plenty of error.
It’s like watching a movie. Then watching the movie a second time, after somebody has added a bunch of scenes, and removed others. It’s not hard to notice, if you’ve seen the original first. You don’t have to be an expert to notice things that weren’t in the original, or remember things that were in the original, but are now missing.
It looks like multiple quotes that I used are also on the page you linked, which is probably where I found them years ago, when I presented this argument the first time. I had them saved on my hard drive, but couldn’t find them earlier in the day, because my free Copernic Desktop Search program didn’t transfer from my old PC to my new one last year.
Copernic switched to a “pay every year for service in perpetuity” business model, and I won’t do it, so I had to find a new free desktop search engine (‘Agent Ransack’) today (yesterday, as of now) to help me find my research for the musical instruments in worship argument.
The website you referenced is maintained by a member of another non-denominational, autonomous / independent church of Christ, whose sole authority in matters of God is God’s Word, the same as the congregation I am a member of.
A few weeks after I found the website above, I found another website that I also couldn’t find any obvious error in. It was completely different than the one above, in format, style, etc., but held the same positions on the subjects that were addressed on both websites, and both presented Scripture (book, chapter and verse references for everything) to support every position.
When it occurred to me that I had found what I had been searching for — it was kind of a shock, like finding a needle in a haystack after figuring there was no needle to be found — I spent 3 days thinking about it, deciding what I should do.
I knew the answer, there was only one thing to do, it just took some time to come around to it. It was going to mean making some changes in my life, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to do it.
But it didn’t matter, because how could I look for something for so long, and having found it, walk away from it, knowing that I had found it?
I couldn’t, and I knew I couldn’t, it just took a few days to get comfortable with it.
It was the second website (U.S. based) that I contacted and who in turn put me in contact with a congregation in my area. It was some time later that I found out the website in Canada (www.bible.ca) was a congregation (independent and autonomous) with which we were in fellowship.
Seven months of searching, with no luck, and then two websites discovered within a few weeks of each other, both teaching the same things from Scripture, both of which turned out to be in fellowship with each other (and with the congregation I was added to), though all three are wholly independent and autonomous from each other, just as the churches in the first century (and in Scripture) were.
I have seen you reference that website in Canada several times over the past few years, and I think I commented about it every time.
“IMO the only way I think it would be definitively solved, would be if biblical scholarship could determine fairly convincingly to all Christians that Paul’s objection to “sensuality” in straying churches had anything to do with instrumental music, because that would then pit canon against it, but I personally suspect that this wasn’t even on his radar.”
_______________
If you do some research on Scriptural Authority (general authority, specific authority, approved example, Apostolic command / commandment of the Lord, etc.), and how the silence of the Scriptures is in no way implicit permission or approval to do some thing in matters of God, it will be definitively resolved, and quickly.
And every other controversy can be resolved the same way.
It won’t have anything to do with ‘sensuality’.
Either we have Authority for a thing, or we don’t. It’s very simple. It’s not ‘mystical’ or woo-woo. It doesn’t require a divinity degree. We have no Authority to make up our own religion or plan of salvation.
If God’s will was even 1/1000th as complicated as men would make it, no one would be saved.
Almost all solutions to controversy are very simple, because the cause of most controversy is not complicated, it is self-will vs. God’s will.
No matter what God decided for His plan of salvation, Man was going to find infinite ways to ignore God’s will and do his own thing.
Identify the source of controversy or objection.
Then try subordinating whatever it is that is causing our objection to the Authority of God — i.e., to His Word, what we can know about God’s will because it says so in His Word and we can put our finger on the verse or passage.
If God’s Word is silent on some thing, that is not tacit permission to do it, in the same way that if our boss doesn’t specifically say that we can’t borrow his car, that doesn’t mean we’re free to take his keys and go for a ride when we feel like it.
People make it so complicated, when it isn’t.
The solution to a controversy usually becomes evident very quickly, if we take the “less of me, and more of Thee” approach.
It’s the “me” that gets in the way of understanding.
“It’s the “me” that gets in the way of understanding.”
.
“Almost all solutions to controversy are very simple, because the cause of most controversy is not complicated, it is self-will vs. God’s will.”
.
So, can “WE” as “Christians” called by his name, Override God’s “Will”?
Change HIS Plans?
I think not.
.
Those NOT “Called” may be able to do so, but Nobody can override God’s will or change HIS mind/plans. If “we” could, God would not be God.
.
I have stated this concept before but many reject it.:
.
Say I am traveling down a road, and come to a fork in the road.
It appears to me that I have a “Choice” to make.
Either go left or go right.
God KNOWS that I will go Right.
So it is impossible for me to go Left even if I think I have the ability.
.
Research “Election and Predestination” in the Bible.
It will become clear that HIS “will” will be done.
.
Romans 8:30
and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
.
John 10
26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep. 27 My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
I have stated these things before and will leave it right here as I don’t have the time to argue the case further.
Just a point – John 10 does not say that the sheep cannot jump out of His hand. It just says that an outside force/entity cannot remove them.
Doesn’t say that they CAN either.
So they’re the equivalent of vegetables with souls?
Seriously, why would Christ voluntarily sacrifice Himself if following Him wasn’t also voluntary? As I recall, there was a rich young ruler who was chosen but declined.
Helpful hint: most who are saved were not predestined.
Believe what you want.
ALL who are “Saved”…. ARE
Predestined”… kind of the definition of Predestined.
I can NOT fathom God sitting in Heaven WAITING on “us” to be “saved” (By our works/words).
It suggests that he does not know who are his “Elect”
voluntarily sacrifice Himself…
—————————————
Matthew 26:39
And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.”
I believe that the “Plan of Salvation” (His death on the cross and resurrection) Was in fact PROPHESIED…
PROVING that it was PREDESTNED.
Well, you’re the only one here apparently who understands that having perfect knowledge of future events is incompatible with anyone having free will.
So the next question is: does God have free will if he knows what he himself will do down the road?
I suppose that he DOES have the “Free Will” to do whatever he so desires, but
God is PERFECT…
No need to change his PERFECT plan.
.
I challenge you to find the words “Free Will” in the Bible.
I’m not claiming they’re there. That’s a claim other Christians make (or they’ll claim the concept is implicit, or called by some other set of words). Not me.
As I pointed out, you’re the only one here who seems to see the fundamental conflict between 1) God knowing how it’s going to turn out, down to the last detail and 2) us having free will. And you resolve that conflict the way you did. I’ll let others argue with you that your resolution is wrong, or that there’s no issue…I have no dog in that fight.
My question to you is whether God could possibly have free will if *he himself* knows what he’s going to be doing, or whether he has any ability to alter a perfect plan–which would itself involve a contradiction; if the plan needs changing, it’s not perfect, if it is now perfect, no change can or should be made; God therefore has no choice.
I may be the only one HERE that believes this way.
So be it. I would prefer others to search the scriptures to see if these things are TRUE. Not to just believe what some MAN/MEN has told them.
.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
9 not a result of works
(or words)
so that no one may boast.
(That “they” are smart or good enough to be saved by themselves – Free Will)
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand…
.
“Free Will” allows “us” to tell God what He will/must do (“Save” us).
Oh but you DO have a dog in the fight.
ETERNITY is a LOOOONG Time.
No dog in the fight over whose interpretation of the Bible is right.
And if as it turns out you are correctly interpreting the Bible and that the Bible is correct, there’s not a darned thing I can do about it, right? Since I have no actual free will, there is NOTHING I can do to change the outcome.
True enough.
If God doesn’t lead you to a saving faith….
Well, that says enough for me.
.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.
In fact there’s no guarantee that you are Elect either, and there’s nothing you can do about that.
Ah but:
Since I may be the Only on HERE that understands this Doctrine. There may some HERE that may want to look further into this Doctrine.

If PROPHESY comes true (and it has)…
It MUST have been PREDESTINED.
Well, the doctrine of ‘predestination’ is a little complicated.
One of the problems is that the passages referenced cannot be reconciled with all other Scripture on the same subject.
This violates the concept of non-contradiction, i.e., God, being perfect, and knowing the end from the beginning, does not contradict Himself. If we find an apparent contradiction, it requires further study in order to understand what is being said, because the correct understanding must necessarily reconcile with everything else God has said on the matter.
I can look up the passages that don’t reconcile with ‘predestination’, but is there any point to doing so, if one’s mind is already made up?
It takes a considerable amount of effort to hunt down verses and passages from the fragments I can remember. Often I have to do an Internet search for my best recollection of a phrase from a passage I’m looking for.
For example, I wanted to find the verse where Paul expresses concern that he himself might be lost, because if Paul can be lost, then who couldn’t be?
And if everyone could be lost, then how can that be reconciled with ‘predestination’?
So I searched “Paul says he must be careful that he himself not be lost”.
Didn’t really help much, the search results are all over the place. I remember bits and pieces of the the verse I’m looking for, because of the old English in the KJV, so that’s my best shot. I remember something about “Lest others be saved while I am lost”.
So I went to blueletterbible.org and searched the KJV online Bible for just the two words I’m pretty sure are in the verse I’m looking for, “lest” and “others”.
That worked. I found it:
“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” (1 Corinthians 9:27, KJV)
To do that for maybe 10 or 15 verses or citations during the course of presenting one’s case takes a lot of time and effort (for someone like me!), it doesn’t come easily, to hunt these verses down, from fragments of memory. So hopefully they are not rejected out of hand.
It is easier to apply logic and reason, but it still requires tracking down verses because you can’t really reason from the Scriptures without citing the Scripture, sooner or later.
You can start, but pretty soon you need a verse to prove the point. Like this:
Why did any of the Apostles bother to preach to anyone, if those who were saved were chosen to be saved before the world was created? If those who were saved were saved anyway, and those who were lost were lost anyway, then why preach the gospel to anyone? What was the point?
If those who are ‘lost’ are predestined to be ‘lost’, i.e., if God chose their fate for them when He created them, then how can they be condemned at the Judgment, if God made them to be lost?
God is perfect and just in all His ways. Would it be just, to condemn someone for eternity who had no choice in the matter?
The Scripture does not agree with God wanting anyone to be lost, it says just the opposite (now I have to hunt down the verse I’m thinking of to make the point):
………………….
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; [4]
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4, KJV)
…………………..
If God would have all men to be saved, if that is His will, and we have no choice in the matter, then why aren’t all men saved?
why aren’t all men saved?
————————————–
Could it be possible… That All (True) Men ARE saved?
.
Hebrews 13:2
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
.
Remember, there are “Fallen Angels”. How many? I don’t know.
Just a thought.
.
Now you’re starting to speak my language.
That I recall, St. Paul didn’t really talk about music. His emphasis was really more on modesty than anything else. There’s a lot of admonishment of presenting oneself immodestly. And there’s a lot of mystics and recipients of apparitions who talk about that.
Engaging the senses – sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell – is something else. That’s why Churches should be beautiful and colorful, incense rises to Heaven (the good stuff, not the cheap crap), music is part of it as are bells, Communion, etc.
The distinction of “sensual” has been blurred in modern English.
I think I’m now understanding why one of my earlier churches had separate instrumental/vocal and vocal music services. They were both awesome.
The premise that everything for worship has to be just like the first century Anno Domini is, IMO, nuts. And if that was actually practiced, there would be no protesting because worship was the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass then.
The biblical premise for not using instrumentation during worship and praise does not exist, and, in fact, as demonstrated by other QT dwellers, is called for in much of Sacred Scripture, so why this would be an issue is really rather confusing.
As to the human voice…the talent for using it in praise varies in all of us. That is by God’s design. There are many of us created in God’s image who actually have great pitch and can carry a tune without help. For many tunes, and a lot of chant, yes, I am one of them. Every time I’m at Benediction and somebody starts either or both O Salutaris Hostia and Tantum Ergo using the Pange Lingua chant, I end up rescuing it. Even listening to the Brothers of Mary with the Salve Regina…yeah, they needed help.
But, that’s not the point. It’s all supposed to be a JOYFUL noise unto the Lord. Why this cannot include instruments is a strictly human argument.

I think twas in the last couple of weeks, can’t find it now, but some newly appointed government guy in Israel said something to the effect that they were going to be more careful about what was reported about Russia. This ammunition transfer and the sale of aircraft might explain that…
“The Pentagon will transfer to Ukraine 300 thousand 155-mm artillery shells that were stored in American warehouses in Israel.
Washington and Tel Aviv concluded a corresponding agreement last year, The New York Times reports, citing sources.
Approximately half of this ammunition is already in Europe and is expected to go to Ukraine via Poland.”
*****************************
This is notable for two reasons:
1. This probably explains the recent Russian sales of Su-35s to Iran, at least in part, given the agreement was apparently struck last year according to the part. In effect, Russia retaliated to Israeli aid to Ukraine and in a big way, given consistent reports of possible Israeli strikes on Iran by the new government in Tel Aviv.
2. With considerable mirth, it must be noted that 300,000 shells is the entire annual production of Europe. Because of gross deficiencies in production within the EU and United States, NATO has increasingly been forced to turn to buying from the stocks of other states to support Ukraine. Israel thus joins a list of nations extending from Pakistan to South Korea.”

GOOD!
When I was in school it would NEVER have gotten that far. I watched a Jr high student disrespect a teacher and end up getting wacked on the hands with a ruler before being assigned detention.
As I said a couple days ago. The USA education system is TRAINING MIKE BROWNS. If you do not learn to be civilized by the time you leave school, then you are GOING TO BE SHOT!
I couldn’t understand what the kid was saying, but the teacher hit him out of the blue. The kid didn’t make any physical threats toward the teacher. I don’t know if the teacher ordered the kid to sit down or anything of the sort, but maybe he could have called the principal or the kid’s parents or something. I would expect that any parent, even if the child was a juvenile delinquent, would be outraged that their kid was hit.
EDIT: I just read this in the article posted by cthulhu:
So the teacher was hit by a ball and had been attacked by students before. That puts things in a different light. I still have a problem with punching a student in the face before the student escalates to that level, but I understand where the teacher was coming from.
You do not assault a teacher, period. Self-defense in the rare event that the teacher abuses you, but never an offensive attack.
Also the teacher told the student to LEAVE THE CLASSROOM numerous times and the kid kept swearing at him calling him a c..nt and other nasty words.
There is no discipline in schools these days. That is why students do what they do. Zero consequences. What we grew up with compared to today are polar opposites.
Let’s see if this plays…..

✟
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
1 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered!!!
BE MY VOICE
BABY LIVES MATTER
JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.
PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER

http://www.theburningplatform.com/2023/01/18/a-second-paper-confirms-the-mrna-shots-cause-recipients-to-make-less-effective-antibodies-to-the-coronavirus-over-time/
by Alex Berenson
Yours Truly: The journal Frontiers in Immunology has just published a peer-reviewed paper which shows that repeated injections of mRNA-based COVID-19 “vaccines” do indeed promote the creation of more IgG4 “tolerate but never clear” cells in the body of the recipients, to the detriment of the IgG3 “fight and clear” cells.
The effect was found in BOTH the Pfizer-BioNTech “vaccine” and the Moderna “vaccine.” However, the effect from the MODERNA “vaccine” was worse in terms of the production of the IgG4 cells.
The effect was also found to be more profound in people who were “COVID-19 naive” BEFORE they were “vaccinated.”
[This, regarding the Moderna “vaccine”, would stand to reason, as this product, mRNA-1273, contains 100 mcg of spike protein per injection in the adult dose, as compared to the Pfizer-BioNTech product, BNT162b2, which has 30 mcg of spike protein per adult dose.]
It was found that the “class switch” in IgG cell production was NOT found in the adenviral-based AstraZeneca COVID-19 “vaccine”, due to the mechanism of this product. [However, Yours Truly will also say that the AstraZeneca COVID-19 “vaccine” is capable, like the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 “vaccine”, of producing thrombosis and thrombocytopenia syndrome.]
Berenson says: “Also: what did Pfizer know and when did the company know it?”
Yours Truly would add: “And what did Moderna know and when did the company know it?”
IMO, the paper also indirectly confirms the fact that growth of IgG4 cells in the body may well hamper / damage the immune system response to other viruses and/or other infections.
The paper cited in the Berenson article:
https://doi.org/10.3389/fimmu.2022.1020844
published January, 2023
Yours Truly: The article was edited by a senior Pfizer-BioNTech USA scientist Shikha Shrivastava, and peer-reviewed by Lela Kardava of the NIAID and by James D. Brien of St. Louis University.
IMO, it would appear to be a significant conflict of interest for a Pfizer-BioNTech scientist to edit any paper related to a “vaccine” produced by that company?
Yes. She’s not a co-author. What the heck is going on there?
This is big. I will explain soon.
Looking forward to it.

US Special Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry – Called himself and those gathered in Davos “chosen ones”:
And when you think about it, it’s rather unusual that we, a select group of human beings, due to the fact that this has touched us at some point in our lives able to sit in a room, get together and talk about saving the planet. I mean, thinking about “saving the planet” is almost out of this world.
Just wondering what it is that has “touched” that select group of vermin sociopaths. I doubt if their savings are being eroded much by sky rocketing prices.
This is the mentality that was used to push what they’re doing.
Very similar to the Nazis, in many ways. “The Final Solution” – perfect example of how the solutions are what kills – road to hell paved with “intentions” – very often a mythical, not even good end that requires a bad means.
Kerryyyy’s actions for globalism are not much different from Zelenskyyyy’s – it’s just a different group of people who will pay the price of foolishness masking malevolence.

He’s right, it takes a nearly inhuman amount of arrogance and ego for any man to believe he can save the world.
And it usually takes some kind of blunt force trauma to the head, to think the world needs saving in the first place.
And then you have to marry into the Heinz fortune, in Lurch’s case.
