King Cake Martini
What you need to make a King Cake Martini (and cinnamon vodka)
Cinnamon-Infused Vodka (Makes 8 servings)
- 4 oz. vodka
- 2 cinnamon sticks
King Cake Martini (Makes 1)
- 1 ½ oz. hazelnut liqueur
- 1 oz. white crème de cocoa
- ½ oz. cinnamon vodka
- ¼ oz. coffee liqueur
- 2 ½ oz. club soda
- Green, purple and yellow decorative sugars, for the rim of the glasses
Instructions
Make the Cinnamon-Infused Vodka
- In a mason jar, measure out the vodka.
- Add the cinnamon sticks, breaking in half if too large for the mason jar.
- Infuse for 5-7 days, then remove the cinnamon sticks and strain using a fine mesh strainer.
- Transfer to a clean mason jar, and store until time to make the drinks.
Make the King Cake Martini
- Add the colored sugar rim to the martini glasses: Dip the martini glasses in a shallow dish holding water. Sprinkle the three colored sugars onto a plate, careful to keep them separate. Dip the glasses’ rims into the sugar, and remove. Set aside.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the hazelnut liqueur, white crème de cocoa, cinnamon-infused vodka and coffee liqueur and add ice.
- Shake vigorously until combined.
- Pour the drink into the prepared martini glass.
- Top with club soda, and enjoy immediately.

As a matter of history, the New River runs through Charleston, West Virginia, which is in a valley where EVERY major chemical company has a plant. That valley is called “chemical valley” for a reason. My dad claims that dead fish were a regular feature of the river in the late 1940s and 50s. By 1997, the last time my family was there to bury my grandmother, the New River had recovered, but it took decades. This will pass, but it’s going to take time.

Remember Love Canal? The history of that is one of government deriliction. so far Stark Co says the water’s ok but so many of us have private well water…does that have to be tested ?…and the aquifers…takes a fairly long time for the contaminated waters to seep down to the aquifers.
You can have your well water tested privately.
You can likely get a HS Chemistry class to do it as part of a project.
There are also kits you can purchase but I do not know if they do organics.

Durham, NC — winds are to be WNW – NW in origin from 2PM today until around 3PM on Saturday 18 February.

My first struggle dealing with a verbal exposition is to turn it into a picture in my head. At which point, I understand it.
I could bypass that by getting the picture in the first place, of course, but especially back in college that wasn’t always an option. I guess I could either “convert to picture” better than most people, or their styles were different and worse.
Apparently most people who take linear algebra don’t do the geometric interpretation (i.e., a picture) and that is incomprehensible to me. A good prof will explain concepts both ways; I did not have a good prof.
When I read a book I ‘see’ a moving picture in my head. That is why I always hated movies made out of my favorite books… THEY DID NOT MATCH. 🤓
I had to learn to live with that.
But sometimes the movie objectively bears no resemblance to the book. In other words, it can’t be someone else’s interpretation of the book, because it’s inconsistent.
The Starship Troopers movie, for instance, wasn’t an adaptation, it was a parody.
That makes a lot of sense. I expected much more from that movie, based solely on the word of mouth of fans of the book over the years.

They are so slanted left that it’s hard to know the truth, but the gist of this one from NPR is that Dominion has filed a lawsuit against FOX, and in the discovery internal emails were released, and the FOX “talent,” while stating support for Trump’s stolen election claims on air, were emailing one another in private to the contrary.
Also, FOX was severely criticized by viewers after calling the 2020 election in AZ for Biden, and emails reflect the panic among show hosts.

It’s a big mess. Dominion is trying to show that FOX hosts privately said they didn’t think there were problems with the election while saying something else on air that slandered Dominion. I wasn’t watching FOX and don’t know what the various hosts said, but there needs to be discovery about the problems with Dominion machines. This article is a hit piece on FOX and makes it look as if no one at FOX looked into that and were just saying things off the top of their heads. And maybe they were.
The SADDEST FACT is that FOX attorneys won’t go looking for the real evidence. They’re an easy target.
The other side, more important to me, is the exposure that we cannot trust Fox News. Sure Dominion has their hooks in, but it’s the conservative viewers who have been lied to and gaslit about who these Fox personalities really are!

IMO, it’s possible to go after all these genetic vaccines because the spike mRNA / spike protein combination penetrates the nucleus and changes the cell genome – which is simply an ERROR and a violation of what mRNA vaccines are supposed to do.
By simply saying “OK, let’s assume that mRNA vaccines MIGHT be good”, we can show that these vaccines are DEFECTIVE BY THEIR OWN STANDARDS.
Just lost my cousin after an 18-month bout with acute leukemia, so onset timing would have coincided with when she no doubtedly took the death shot(s). She traveled extensively and shots were required for flights. 😡 She was a 28-year breast cancer survivor with no recurrence and otherwise excellent health. Not to mention a wonderful lady in the truest sense of that word and a lifelong American Patriot. I ache for her hubby who now must soldier on alone.

Seems like it might be a way to win the battle but lose the war.
I don’t claim to understand how mRNA is supposed to work, but anything that alters the DNA is a Pandora’s box, a Mengele-on-steroids disaster waiting to happen.
And apparently there are thousands of insanely shortsighted, evil abject idiots all over the world racing each other to create these disasters.
Seems like genetic research + money + secrecy = far greater danger to humanity than globull warming ever could be.
Time will tell, but it appears to me that the risk of something getting into the nucleus is two-fold:
(1) proteins that are capable of penetrating the nucleus, and potentially bringing in their own or other genetic material.
(2) RNA or DNA (genetic material) which can get into the nucleus and be incorporated.
mRNA vaccines, IMO, always present a risk of getting into the genome, because even if they don’t code for something that can open up the nucleus to them (like it appears the spike protein can), there is always the risk that something else might be present that CAN open up the nucleus.
So, in that sense, the mRNA technology is inherently risky. Nevertheless, above and beyond this theoretical risk, is the DEFINITE risk of the current vaccines, which are KNOWN to get into the nucleus and then the genome. So while there may still be a debate about the basic mRNA technology, there is no debate that the vaccines ARE already at the level of danger we were promised did not apply to them.
Ending the vaccines NOW on their own failures to achieve the platform goals, doesn’t depend on the platform ultimately winning or losing. In fact, I’m surprised that nobody official has called out the vaccines on genotoxicity grounds already!

Incidentally, the world of railroading is quite peculiar and sometimes works backwards to the way you might think it should work.
Just as a tiny example, I once encountered a business that was selling intermodal trailers — those are the ones that can be used over the road but also (usually without wheels) on railroads.
They came up with a magnificent deal to “sell” a bunch of them.
As it turns out, being a railroad is sort of like being in George Carlin’s Club. You or I ain’t in it….but if you ARE in it, you can take a bunch of assets (like intermodal trailers), paint your mark on them, and let others in the club use them. This is all tracked by railroad consortium computers, and for every asset being used by the club, the “user” is charged rent and the “owner” collects it.
What these sales guys did is locate a small railroad and convince them to “purchase” a bunch of intermodals, and then assign the right to collect the rents back to the salesmen. Oh, and there was an immediate cash payment to the “purchaser” for every unit “bought.”
The reason you see a CSX or Norfolk-Southern or Union-Pacific or BNSF train go by with boxcars and flatcars and tankers from a whole bunch of different railroads is that they’re all being “rented”.

Let’s say I load a boxcar full of bearded dragon food in New Jersey, and I want to send it somewhere that no NJ railroad goes to. Pretend for the moment that Amarillo is one of those places.
I figured the box car (with my stuff in it) would just be given to the Amarillo-bound railroad somewhere…and that “my” NJ railroad would pay them to haul it (and pass the cost of that on to me, the passenger), rather than it being a case of the Amarillo railroad renting the thing. One way or another two railroads have to handle the load; surely they don’t unload it off one boxcar and put it onto another!

Unfortunately, the history of railroads (and the government that enables them) makes very little sense.
Railroads own locomotives and rights-of-way (this can be verified by observing the unions going on strike — they included engineers and right-of-way maintainers). They charge customers based on tariffs, which are set by the government depending on the goods being moved — it is literally cheaper to move a ton of coal than a ton of bearded dragon food (or was, the last time I checked).
You then are rented an appropriate railcar from a location near your loading point, it gets loaded, and starts getting hauled. If it’s going to go on two rail networks, it needs to be hauled to a transfer point. Then, again, that’s only if a railroad-to-railroad handover is being done. All rail yards are, to some extent, transfer points. Ever see “DO NOT HUMP” on a railcar? It is common practice for a train to pull into a yard and park the cars on top of a low hill, then move around to the end of one of the tracks in the yard. Each car is released, one-at-a-time, rolls down the hill, and is switched to one of the destination tracks available. So a locomotive can pull in with cars going to ACADCBADBCDCCCDDDAAABDCA, drop the cars and run around to the A output track, and only pull the A cars away — while other locomotives take the B, C, and D cars. “DO NOT HUMP” means that the car must be taken to its destination track by a switcher locomotive instead of letting gravity smoosh the cars together.
So your NJ car can be shuffled in Trenton, Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Charleston, Lexington, Chattanooga, Memphis, etc. Somewhere, it would be transferred to the destination railroad and moved until it got to Amarillo.
Mind you, I am far from being an expert in this field….

Why would it not be a “Greater Poland”? There’s actually historical precedent; the reason Ukraine became culturally distinct from Russia in the first place is much of present-day Ukraine was once part of the combined kingdom of Poland and Lithuania (I’m talking 1600s here, though even after that, large parts of present day Belarus and Ukraine were part of Poland, in some instances even as late as 1939. (Poland was completely gone from the map from 1796-1919, except as a Grand Duchy during part of the Napoleonic era.)
Some parts of Ukraine were part of Poland before WW11, but were occupied by the Sowjet Union under Stalin, when Stalin and Hitler made the pact to divide Poland, just before the war.
Stalin never gave back those parts of Poland, instead Poland was compensated with some eastern parts of what used to be Germany. This was the result of the Yalta conference between Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill at the end of WW11.
In addition, he kicked the Germans out of the (new) western Poland (former Prussia), and the Poles out of the (old) eastern Poland (new western USSR). As a result Poland today is very ethnically homogeneous for a European state.
I’m sure Stalin was happy to expand his borders largely at Germany’s expense by way of moving Poland westward.
There’s something about Red Russians & White Russians from the Polish perspective, I believe. Some former Polish dental assistant was telling me about this years ago, but I forget the details now. It had something to do with the parts of Poland under Russian control where they were forbidden to speak Polish etc. She was also mentioning people just disappearing never to be heard from again, but that may have been during WWII. She had a then teenage relative who was one such disappearee that the family assumed was dead but never knew for sure. He’d gone out on his bike & was never seen again. Cannot imagine that horror & lack of closure…

Asphalt, being far cheaper, could accommodate far more graft and bribery.
A mile long section of brick road might cost (for example) a million dollars, and that becomes the ‘norm’.
Then Asphalt is introduced. Asphalt can pave a mile long section (for example) for $300K.
So the city and the asphalt company agree to a contract for $800K, ‘saving’ the city $200K (compared to a brick road contract). The asphalt company ‘wins’ the contract and gets their $300K, and the city managers (and their cronies) pocket $500K in bribe money.
The brick companies can’t compete on the bribery circuit, because they came first and established the baseline cost.
And bricks, lasting much longer, lack the essential component of planned obsolescence.
Asphalt roads have to be re-paved every year, creating perpetual employment for construction companies, perpetual payroll taxes and income taxes to be collected for the city, and endless streams of bribe money for city officials.
That’s just a hypothetical.
The reality is almost certainly far worse.

Actually, our asphalt street got re-slurried a couple of years ago. This was the most comprehensive maintenance it had received in 20+ years.
Mind you, I am in the actual City of Santa Clara. San Jose, next door, has roads that look like crap, have gaping potholes, and throw projectiles — but it isn’t due to a lack of annual maintenance…..it’s because they haven’t maintained squat in three+ decades.

Hard to believe the criminals haven’t figured out how to generate a perpetual graft / revenue stream out of resurfacing the roads.
Oh, believe me, they have — it’s just they do it slower in places that try to keep an eye on the bottom line.
The resurfacing crew was obviously union, and had a black female who contributed nothing toward getting the work done. I could tell because I kept giving them bottled water.
ALSO, in MA they fill the pot hole, clean the shovels in an ASPHALT SOLVENT and then lean the shovel against the truck. The next year you get a nice line of new potholes where those shovels were.
That makes sense & likely happens in MI too!

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.

I used to use cloth diapers & receiving blankets rolled up to position my babies on their sides for sleeping, in case they spit up. Later this was to help w/ Josiah’s positional head deformity, but he always wiggled out of whatever position I tried on him & ultimately got to wear an orthotic helmet for a few years to reduce the misshapen aspect of his cranium…we had years of the cranio-facial clinic at U of M to deal with many of those issues, so varying degrees of success there…
Once they get big enough to move on their own, they do whatever they want!

I had Youngstown talk radio on during my commute and the very popular evening DJ took calls and instructed E Palestine residents to start keeping journals every day of how they are feeling, any symptoms, wind directions, etc. A caller reported he and his family have appointments for blood work and will keep daily journals and once per month they will take their journals to be notarized to prove their daily entries. Could it be, Dear Scientists, that CO2 is not causing any warming?
In fact, could it be that the whole ‘Greenhouse Gas Theory’ is actually a violation of Thermodynamics and is completely unnecessary for the temperature profile on any planet with a substantial atmosphere, while ignoring any of the other heat transfer mechanism, like conduction and convection etc.?
The ‘Greenhouse Gas Theory’ necessitates that the colder temperature of the atmosphere heats up the hotter surface of a planet, using radiation as a transfer mechanism.
Unfortunately, very few scientists, including many ‘luke warmers’ do not want to acknowledge this. They come up with all sorts of sophisticated reasoning to fudge this fact or in most cases completely ignore this.
I think you misunderstand the theory. Not that I agree with anthropogenic global warming, but it’s important not to misunderstand what you’re arguing against.
Sunlight (visible wavelengths) goes right through the atmosphere and heats the surface of the earth. Now, due to blackbody radiation, the surface of the earth radiates infrared. The atmosphere, thanks to greenhouse gases, is at least partially opaque to this radiation and therefore captures it, heating up. It’s now warmer than it otherwise would be. This in turn makes it difficult for the ground and water to cool off, because the rate of heat transfer is proportional to the difference in temperature–which just decreased. That works even if the air is cooler than the ground. It’s not that the air is heating the ground up, it’s that the air is preventing the ground from cooling off as much as it otherwise would; it’s insulation, and supposedly the R value is increasing.
Without the greenhouse effect that we already have, Earth would be below freezing and covered in ice. So we know the effect exists.
The relevant criticisms are from the fact that greenhouse effect by itself isn’t the whole story; the sun’s brightness matters too and doesn’t seem to have been taken into account (it’s assumed constant when it’s not), and also the system is more complex than the computer models in any case, so the models can’t accurately predict what happens. Also, if the greenhouse effect is greater than it should be, and it’s actually bad (two big IFs) what evidence is there that WE are the cause?

What you are describing is exactly what I described as sophisticated fudge.
You ignore the other types of heat transfer, which allows heat to be distributed to areas were the suns light energy cannot heat the surface enough, the Poles and the night side, as well as higher up in the atmosphere.
The earth is only partially illuminated at any time, with some areas in the tropical belt directly under the sun at any moment receiving far more energy from the sun to bring the possible surface temperature far above what it is actually measured. The difference is actually distributed to the rest of the planet, which does get less sunlight.
The fudge actually lies in the fact that a highly non-linear relationship between temperature and radiation (a ^4 relationship) is averaged as if it is a linear relationship.
Your reasoning of an ice ball earth is at the heart of this calculation.
If this relationship is actually correctly applied than the Greenhouse Theory becomes totally unnecessary for the actual measured temperature and this not only applies to Earth, but also to other planets, with a substantial atmosphere.
Actually, the only parameters you need to calculate the possible temperature of a planet is its distance to the Sun and the DENSITY of its atmosphere. Distance to the Sun determines how much radiation energy it receive, and the density determines how much of that energy the atmosphere can retain.
In fact, the so-called Greenhouse gases enable the atmosphere to directly radiate to Space, which would not be possible if these gases were not present.
Thus, theoretically the atmosphere could be warmer without those gases.

The genesis of this CO2 causes warming is the Biosphere 2 experiment. The increased CO2 levels inside the facility were erroneously assumed to be raising the temperature. At best this was a hypothesis with no correlation to people.

Everyone has an opinion on the Ohio disaster. Here’s mine.
1) President Trump has not made one single public comment about the Ohio disaster. It has been 14 days since the derailment–no comments. Not one. If it was truly an accident, then he would have made at least one all caps “OUR COUNTRY IS BEING DESTROYED!” tweet about it by now. His silence is deafening.
2) It took a week for this thing to gain any traction at all outside of local media. Either they had no prepared script, or the original script was botched and had to be scrapped. Yes, botched. Because you know what this all reminds me of? The Las Vegas massacre. Like something didn’t go according to plan, and all of the players involved are left scrambling trying to figure out how to explain their giant mess to the public.
Beyond that, I don’t know. I could make the case for black hat, white hat, or total hoax op either way.
Trump is visiting Palestine next Wednesday. No idea why Wednesday, not sooner. I imagine he’ll have several semi’s roll in with aid of sorts for the locals.
