Dear MAGA: 20251009 ✾ Thank God ± Theistic Evolution ∈ Thursday Open Topic

This man, making Christmas calls from the White House, believes the world is a sphere. And he has even flown around it! So has our beautiful FLOTUS, who happens to be his wife!

Truth and common sense must be valued by us, as individuals, in order to lastingly disempower the authoritarian fake news media. This includes the perniciously smarmy science media, which never answers for its errors and lies. I believe that the media has been responsible not only for leftist pathologies like scientism, medical fascism, and radical gender ideology, but also for reactionary movements like modern flat Earth, rejection of all medicine, and Biblical geological literalism.

Just as Wheatie’s Stormwatch Monday Open Thread was created as a place for people to openly express their thoughts and opinions, so, too, is this Thank God Thursday Open Thread, where honest but civil discussion of all topics is encouraged. This thread is also to be known as Theistic Evolution Thursdays, due to the author’s expected “pontification” about his scientific, religious, and political opinions. You are welcome to pontificate back! Free speech matters!

Please label all AI-generated content as being such, unless it is patently obvious (e.g., humorous AI images). It is important that we as individuals not begin to pretend that socially derived artificial intelligence is actually our own, as this form of stealthy social information averaging and feedback would be one more pretense and deception between people, in service of stupid Marxist socialism, and of those who wish to substitute their communally protected lies for actual truth.

The source of alleged truth matters, not for the truth itself, but for validation.

And yes, it’s THURSDAY…again.

And that’s it. We’re done stealing from Wheatie.

OK – maybe her rules need to be posted.

  • No food fights.
  • No running with scissors.
  • If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone.

Other rules may be derivable from these, and that conjecture is left for discussion.

If there is nothing beyond the “W” below, then this is a placeholder. For health reasons, I can’t always post a timely opinion before each Thursday, but I will try. Otherwise, you have this placeholder post, where YOU provide the content. Enjoy!

Happy Holidays!

Yeah, I would normally prefer to say “Merry Christmas”, but this time, I really mean “Happy Holidays!”

It turns out that “Theistic Evolution Thursday” matches a lovely array of holidays this year.

  • Mole Day (October 23)
  • Thanksgiving (November 27)
  • Christmas (December 25)
  • New Year’s Day (January 1)

Hopefully, I’ll have special editions on those days.

Word From SteveInCO

A couple of weeks ago, Steve dropped me a PMTW that further explained his departure from this site. For a variety of reasons, I didn’t bother to mention it, the most important being that it wasn’t obviously being designated to be shared, and I wanted to respect Steve’s privacy and wishes.

Now, it may have been that Steve actually wanted me to share it, but I could not tell, because some unknown part of his message got cut off at the end – an apparent victim of some software limit on how much text can be copied and pasted into a guest comment. So I can’t even be sure about what things he said that might be missing. Steve’s intent was to drop off the message and not read anything on the site – he even said that he had not read any of our comments, as part of his determination to be “final” about his departure.

The most important thing to note is the following. Nothing Steve said, involved any change in what he had said before, or in his decision. He added some slight explanations of his earlier points, which was helpful to me as an admin and moderator. One thing I should say is this. Steve explained that upon later reading what he had sent, he realized that he had removed a few incendiary comments, but had accidentally left some references to them. THAT is why his statement about how we might react negatively to his departure seemed curious. There were some burning bridges which he had removed from the goodbye note, but he left text referring to them, essentially.

Whether Steve ever comes back is unknown, but for the moment, I think it’s unlikely. In any case, I wish him well, and much success in his endeavors.

Good News About Japan

It looks like Japan is going to get a female version of Shinzo Abe as Prime Minister. Her name is Sanae Takaichi (pronounced Sah-nah-eh Ta-ka-ee-chee). The more I read about her, the better she sounds. I suggest reading the Wikipedia article on her. Enjoy the hand-wringing and pearl-clutching by all the right people!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanae_Takaichi

Comparisons to Margaret Thatcher are pleasing to me, as well as her hardcore dedication to “Abenomics”. And the sweet words, “China hawk”!

Enjoy!

I do hope that Steve finds his way back to us some day, but well understand that he has other roads to travel now.

I’m gonna miss the professor.

He’s got such a gift for explaining things, I could learn things from him that I already hazily “knew”, but didn’t really understand.

hmmm…bigger than topless hula dancers wearing bacon skirts, shaking their WGTT’s? cuz that’s what I was planning.

It is often stated that so-and-so is going through his second childhood as a cute method of excusing leering and/or lecherous behavior. However, it now appears that it’s not limited to males.

Barb Meier

Probably a smart idea. I think the bacon skirts are cute. I like them much better than the animal prints that some wear.

Barb Meier

Okay, Grok drew Hawaiian hulu girls with bacon skirts. That’s all the further I can, in good conscience, request. They are cuties.

I also hope our dear Aubergine finds her way back soon — I’m sure that she’d enjoy how much less contentious it has been of late.

Aubergine

Hi! Thank you for missing me!

I am here. I have been quietly hiding and watching for the peace to return, and so far it has, which is a relief.

It may not be obvious, given my writings at times, but I am not generally amenable to contention and confrontation. Hate it, actually. But I will fight for what I believe is right, always.

I’m glad things have gone back to intelligent, calm discourse. It’s needed.

And it looks like there will finally be some resolution to the Israel/Hamas situation, which might complete the blanket of calm.

Linda

Good to have you back!

Aubergine

Thanks! Good to see you.

I have to thank you again for your cancer journey document. It’s been shared by me, a lot.

Linda

Thanks! I would really love it if it helped others who are battling cancer.

They get a choice of MRE’s? Back in the day, our ‘C RATS’ entrees were a crap shoot & lots of tobasco sauce required; the included 3 pack of cigarettes were good for trading.

This is the deal:
Gateway Pundit:
GREEN ARMY? Pentagon to Force Millions of Plant-Based Rations on U.S. Troops Beginning in 2027

The Department of Defense has announced that U.S. troops will soon be eating plant-based rations, a move being celebrated by left-wing activists and animal rights groups.

According to a press release from the organization Mercy for Animals, this “monumental shift” comes after years of lobbying from progressive lawmakers and advocacy groups.

Beginning in 2027, four of the 24 current military MRE (Meals, Ready-to-Eat) options will be replaced with fully plant-based versions.

The organization boasts that the change could result in over 6.5 million plant-based MREs distributed annually to service members.

The U.S. Army’s own website confirmed the changes in a September 22, 2025 report.

Julie Edwards, a senior food technologist at the Combat Feeding Division, revealed that the upcoming MRE 47, set for release in 2027, will include:

  • Fully plant-based entrees replacing the current vegetarian MREs
  • Plant-based “animal crackers,” protein bars, recovery bars, and fruit-flavored cereal

Mercy for Animals openly celebrated this as a cultural breakthrough, saying it represents “compassionate choices integrated into one of the world’s largest institutions.”…

Whether or not the Troops get a choice I do not know, but I doubt it.

kalbokalbs

Troops will not eat that shit.

Navy ships, plant based rations will Go Over The Side. G O N E.

AMEN!!

All it is, is transfer of tax payer money to BILL GATES and friends.

Valerie Curren

Nice touch with the star pasties (paste-ies, nipple covers, not the meat pie) on the tranny freak 😂

Aubergine

I’d rather eat the nipple covers than a pasty.

Valerie Curren

I grew up on pasties, my mom being raised by Finns & all. She usually made a very deep dish pasty with a substantial crust on the top. She used beef & pork, both ground up, onions, potatoes, carrots, & rutabagas (not sure if parsnips too). We traditionally used ketchup on ours. When Hubby joined the family he always wanted to put beef gravy over his, so it was more like a pot pie. Honestly I loved both my mom’s & my grandma’s pasties, but maybe they were rather an acquired taste 😉 😉

pgroup2

Ketchup covers a multitude of culinary sins!

YES!!! I get physically ill when I see somebody pouring ketchup over a steak. 😡

Valerie Curren

Big no no!

Valerie Curren

I used to Always use A-1 with steak until Hubby came along. He is an amazing grill king & I’ve eaten virtually Every Steak he’s grilled for me “naked” because they are That Good! We are Big Time Blessed 😍

Valerie Curren

Yes it is!

patfrederick

ME TOO!!

Gail Combs

AMEN to that!

If you want to eat cat-soup put it on a hamburger.

Valerie Curren

I got reamed out for using Ketchup on a burger in TX when at an old boyfriend’s family reunion. I guess they only thought mustard was acceptable 😉

Dukes mayo

Valerie Curren

Is that much different from Hellman’s?

Barb Meier

Mr Schumer can explain when to add the cheese.

Valerie Curren

 😂

Aubergine

I make homemade ketchup and chili sauce (which is basically just chunky ketchup), but neither belongs on a steak!

Valerie Curren

Well I think the pasties were good without ketchup but maybe just a tad dry LOL

Barb Meier

Worchester sauce to the rescue!

Valerie Curren

That would add a twist!

There was a Greek run ‘Italian’ restaurant in Merrimack NH that had a meat pastry that was to die for!

Also I loved the Jamaican goat pastry when I was in Jamaica. I also found a place in Boston and here in NC that make them.

They are a HUGE thing here in Montana. Huge. But I had what was billed as the “best of the best,” and ugh. Just not my thing. And yes, ketchup or gravy is de rigueur.

Valerie Curren

Do you guys have a Finnish or Cornish or mining population out there? I thought that’s where pasties originated from 🙄

Aubergine

Irish, German, Russian, and Cornish, too. And I think they all adopted it. They say that it was lunch-bucket fare for the miners. They held the pasty by its thick crust edge, in order to be able to eat underground with hands covered in coal dust.

Never heard that interesting tidbit–Thx 🙂

How ultrasound is ushering a new era of surgery-free cancer treatment

If Zhen Xu hadn’t annoyed her lab mates, she might never have discovered a groundbreaking treatment for liver cancer.

As a PhD student in biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan in the US during the early 2000s, Xu was trying to find a way for doctors to destroy and remove diseased tissue without the need for invasive surgery. She’d landed on the idea of using high-frequency sound waves – ultrasound – to mechanically break up tissue and was testing her theory on pig hearts.

Ultrasound isn’t supposed to be audible to human ears, but Xu was using such a powerful amplifier in her experiments that other researchers she shared the laboratory with began to complain about noise. “Nothing had worked anyway,” she says. So she decided to humour her colleagues by increasing the rate of ultrasound pulses, which would bring the sound level outside the range of human hearing.

To her shock, increasing the number of pulses per second was not only less disruptive to those around her, but also more effective on living tissue than the approach she’d tried previously. As she watched, a hole appeared in the pig heart tissue within a minute of ultrasound application. “I thought I was dreaming,” says Xu, who is today a professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan.

Decades later, Xu’s serendipitous discovery, known as histotripsy, is one of several approaches using ultrasound that are ushering in a new era of advanced cancer treatment, offering doctors non-invasive methods to rid patients of cancerous tumours using sound rather than surgery.

Histotripsy was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of liver tumours in October 2023. The following year, a small study funded by HistoSonics, the company formed to commercialise Xu’s technology, found that the approach achieved technical success against 95% of liver tumours. While side effects ranging from abdominal pain to internal bleeding are possible, research suggests complications are rare and the method is generally safe.

In June, the UK became the first European country to approve histotripsy. The treatment was made available on the NHS under the pilot phase of its Innovative Devices Access Pathway for unmet clinical needs.

“People think of ultrasound as imaging,” says Julie Earl, a principal investigator in the biomarkers and personalised approach to cancer group at Spain’s Ramón y Cajal Institute for Health Research who has studied the technology. But a growing body of research, she says, suggests it can also destroy tumorssubdue metastatic disease (cancers that have spread to other parts of the body) and boost the efficacy of other cancer treatments – all without putting a patient under the knife…

More at the link.

That was my first thought too.

There is actually a very rich history of using sound for healing properties going back thousands of years. Modern science is only rediscovering what the ancients knew already.

Summary from Grok (You probably can use Google as well):

The use of sound for healing disease, often referred to as sound therapy or vibrational medicine, has a long history that spans cultures and centuries. While modern science is still exploring its efficacy, sound has been used in various forms for therapeutic purposes, rooted in the belief that vibrations and frequencies can influence physical, mental, and spiritual health. Below is a concise history of sound healing, focusing on its use for addressing disease or promoting wellness:

Ancient and Traditional Practices

Prehistoric and Indigenous Cultures (Prehistory–Present): Archaeological evidence suggests that ancient cultures used sound, such as drumming and chanting, in rituals for healing. For example, shamans in indigenous traditions across Africa, the Americas, and Australia used rhythmic drumming, rattles, and vocalizations to enter trance states, believed to facilitate spiritual and physical healing.

Ancient Egypt (c. 3000 BCE): Egyptians used sound in temple rituals, employing instruments like sistrums and chants to invoke divine healing. The concept of harmony was tied to health, with sound believed to restore balance to the body.

Ancient Greece (c. 500 BCE): Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher, explored the therapeutic effects of music, suggesting that specific musical modes could harmonize the body and soul. He reportedly used “musical medicine” to treat physical and emotional ailments. Hippocrates, the father of medicine, also referenced music’s calming effects on patients.

Indian Vedic Traditions (c. 1500 BCE–Present): In Ayurveda, sound in the form of mantras (sacred chants) and ragas (musical scales) was used to balance the body’s energies (doshas). The chanting of specific syllables, like “Om,” was believed to resonate with the body’s vibrational frequencies to promote healing.

Tibetan and Himalayan Practices (c. 8th Century CE–Present): Tibetan monks used singing bowls, bells, and chants in meditative practices to promote physical and spiritual well-being. The vibrations from these instruments were thought to align the body’s energy centers (chakras).

Medieval and Early Modern Periods

Medieval Europe (5th–15th Century): Gregorian chants in Christian monasteries were used for spiritual healing, believed to calm the mind and body. Music was also employed in early hospitals to soothe patients.

Islamic Golden Age (8th–13th Century): Scholars like Al-Farabi wrote about the therapeutic effects of music, integrating it into medical practices. Hospitals in the Islamic world often used music to treat mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression.

Modern Developments

19th Century: The scientific study of sound’s effects on the body began to emerge. Neurologist Jean-Martin Charcot and others explored music’s impact on neurological conditions. The idea of resonance and vibration started to gain traction in medical contexts.

Early 20th Century: With advancements in acoustics, researchers began studying how sound waves affect biological tissues. In the 1920s, Royal Raymond Rife, an American inventor, claimed that specific frequencies could destroy pathogens, though his “Rife machine” remains controversial and lacks scientific validation.

Mid-20th Century: Music therapy emerged as a formal discipline, particularly after World War II, when musicians played for veterans to alleviate trauma-related symptoms. This led to the establishment of music therapy programs to treat mental health disorders and chronic pain.

Contemporary Practices

Late 20th–21st Century: Sound therapy gained popularity in alternative medicine. Techniques like binaural beats, tuning forks, and gong baths became common in holistic wellness. Practitioners claim these methods can reduce stress, improve immune function, and alleviate symptoms of chronic conditions, though rigorous scientific evidence is limited.

Ultrasound in Medicine (1940s–Present): The most scientifically validated use of sound for healing is ultrasound, which uses high-frequency sound waves for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic purposes, such as breaking up kidney stones, promoting tissue repair, and treating musculoskeletal disorders.

Cymatics and Vibrational Medicine: Cymatics, the study of visible sound vibrations, has inspired modern sound healers to explore how frequencies can influence cellular health. While promising, these claims often lack peer-reviewed studies.

Current Research: Recent studies have explored low-frequency sound for pain management, stress reduction, and neurological conditions like Parkinson’s disease. For example, vibroacoustic therapy, which uses low-frequency sound to stimulate the body, has shown potential in reducing symptoms of fibromyalgia and anxiety.

Cultural and Scientific Context

While ancient and traditional practices often attributed sound’s healing effects to spiritual or energetic principles, modern science focuses on measurable physiological responses, such as how sound influences the nervous system, heart rate, or brainwave activity. Despite its long history, sound therapy for disease remains a blend of empirical tradition and emerging science, with mainstream medicine cautiously integrating techniques like music therapy while remaining skeptical of unproven claims.

If you’d like me to dive deeper into a specific era, culture, or modern application (e.g., ultrasound or music therapy research), or if you want me to search for recent studies or posts on X about sound healing, let me know!

scott467

My relatives in Florida owned a nice restaurant when I was little, and they had a piano bar section of the restaurant with a piano player named Jay.

He played Tie a Yellow Ribbon every time we were there. There was something they called a “gut bass”, and people in the audience would get up and play along with him.

It was an old metal tub, maybe 30″ in diameter, turned upside down, with a broom handle that you held at the top and pushed the broom handle down against the bottom of the upside down metal tub, and there was some kind of string going from the top of the broom handle to the bottom of the metal tub.

So it made a one-string bass, to play along with Jay on the piano, while he sang Tie a Yellow Ribbon (’round the ole oak tree, it’s been three long years, do you still want me?) 😁

Great Memory!

scott467

We used to go to Florida every year for two weeks, from my earliest memory until I graduated high school, and we probably ate dinner at our relative’s restaurant 4 or 5 times each year while we were there.

They were the greatest couple, acted like they were teenagers in love, even though they were in their late 50s or early 60s at the time.

Florida was my first experience with going to the beach, and our relatives would take us deep sea fishing every year, which was my first experience ever being out in the ocean.

They had a Hobie Cat / Catamaran (pontoon sail boat) that they would take us out in the ocean on too.

Like this:

comment image

Other nights they would have us over to their home for a cookout, or go to other restaurants nearby, because they knew the owners of all the local restaurants.

We also went to Lion Country Safari, which was an amazing experience for a little kid, who had never seen anything like that in real life before.

Looking forward to going to Florida every year, and being in Florida, is one of my best memories growing up. Florida is like my home away from home 😁

That’s super special. I’ve only been to FL 3X. First as a kid, I got mumps on the drive down & my mom refused to let me swim on my first visits to the ocean. We visited my dad’s parents who wintered down there in a retirement trailer park after Grandma inherited her parents’ trailer when they died in the late 60’s. We hit Disney with them. I remember another relative we visited plucking a grapefruit from a tree in his yard & peeling it with a knife in one long spiral twisting motion.

The second time I flew out from OK to stay with a guy from one of my college “brother” wings & his family. We were exploring the possibility of long distance dating. Michael, who I’d just met earlier that month at our apartments’ pool, picked me up from the airport. I barely gave Rich a passing thought then 😉

Finally, about 20 years ago, Make A Wish sent our family to Orlando for a week so the Josiah “could meet Buzz Lightyear”, which was his wish. We stayed at an amazing place called Give Kids The World, in Kissimmee, that was geared to supporting Wish Kids that were usually hitting Disney World. We got passes to All the theme parks, including some we didn’t have time to visit. We did all the Disney Parks, Universal Studios, & Sea World (on the way to the airport). We were going to Universal Islands of Adventure when Brandon got car sick & we ended up spending the day back at GKTW. Everything there was free, food, attractions, we had transportation provided by MAW as well as some spending money. We used part of those funds to go to Medieval Times, which was a carnivore’s paradise (unfortunately Brandon, our main carnivore, was still feeling poorly, so barely ate). It was great fun to get to watch jousting & other events & since we liked the movie A Knight’s Tale this outing was very well received by all.

We hosted my parents at MT since they had made a significant effort to join us down in FL during this special MAW Trip & went to about half of our theme park adventures on their dime. When we were in Disney World I made sure that our kids got to experience with their grandparents some of the same rides I’d experienced with my grandparents about 30 years prior.

Other than overlapping Disney experiences each of my FL trips was very different. I never did get to swim in the ocean in FL but managed to do so on other trips to MD & ME as a teen 🙂

scott467

We went to Disney a couple times too, both before and then during the opening of Space Mountain (indoor roller coaster), maybe once more after that, when my youngest sister was old enough to enjoy it. I just looked it up, Space Mountain opened in 1975.

That was around the same time Jaws was released. I never looked at the ocean the same way again, after I saw Jaws 😁

Almost lost my Mom one time. We stayed at the same hotel / motel every year, a great place called Tahiti on the Ocean.

My Mom and I went for a swim in the ocean, and I’m not sure if we got caught in a rip tide or what happened, but before we knew it, we were a lot further out than we meant to be.

I was probably about 8 or 9 years old. I wasn’t tired at all, but my Mom was getting tired, and when she saw how far we were from the beach, she started panicking. She started saying she wasn’t going to make it, and I needed to do my best to get back to shore.

The water wasn’t rough at the time, it was pretty calm, so it was easy to talk to each other at a normal voice level while treading water. So I just talked to her to calm her down, and told her she could make it, and I wasn’t going back to the beach without her.

I could just imagine how mad my Dad was gonna be, and how much trouble I was going to be in, if I just left her out there in the ocean.

And I knew he’d just make me go back out there and get her anyway 😆

So she started swimming back toward the beach with me, and she would rest every few minutes by floating on her back, and then we would swim some more, and rest, and eventually we got close enough that she could touch the sandy bottom (before I did), so she could walk the rest of the way in, so we made it. Pretty far away from the part of the beach where we started.

I guess she was more tired than I thought, because she collapsed on the beach once she was out of the water. So much drama… 😂

The Tahiti was a big place, I remember seeing room keys numbered up into the 200s or higher, but it was only two stories high, and very family oriented.

I would guess it was probably at least 150 yards or more from the front office to the ocean, and in between there were two swimming pools, a patio tent area with grills for cooking out, a croquet course, and a 9-hole putting green, before you got to the gate to the beach, where they had an outdoor shower to wash the sand off, with a rope cord to activate the water, and a jug of some clear liquid to help dissolve any tar off your feet that you might pick up from walking on the beach.

The guy who did all the upkeep was an older guy named Max. Max was always grouchy. If he caught us on the putting green or the croquet course without an adult, he’d yell at us and chase us off 🙄

The front office had a big library of paperbacks you could borrow to read, that’s where I got into spy thrillers like The Quiller Memorandum and the Jason Bourne books by Robert Ludlum.

The Tahiti is long gone now, bulldozed and turned into high rise condos decades ago, but I just checked, and I was able to find pictures of it online — it jumped right out at me, I’d recognize it anywhere!

comment image

You could climb right up to the second story on that concrete decorative support wall you see in the photo. I don’t think we were supposed to do that — I’m sure Max didn’t approve 🤣 — but the footholds and handholds were the perfect size for a kid, I could scale it in about 10 seconds, like a monkey 😁

That’s a pretty old picture, I remember the putting green being bigger (maybe I was just smaller!), and the ocean view from the putting green was blocked by plants (landscaping), so maybe they extended the usable area out toward the ocean at some time after this photo was taken.

Found another one:

Since I found the Tahiti, I checked for the restaurant, and found an old postcard on eBay for it too. I have found those old post cards on eBay before, and bought one a few years ago.

The section of the post card showing the bar area is taken from the perspective of about where Jay would be playing the piano:

After the restaurant closed for the evening, family and friends of our relatives would usually stay until late.

When I was was very young, I would put two of those bar stools together (I remember them having padded red leather seats), facing each other, and lay down to sleep.

They had a wheel chair available for any customer who might need one, so after the restaurant was closed for the evening and most of the lights in the main dining area were turned off, Ruthie (our relative) would take my sisters and me for wheel chair rides, running all around the restaurant, pushing us in the wheel chair. When we were little, probably 8 years old or younger.

You can’t tell from the photo, but there was a long (maybe 15 foot) gradual ramp from the entrance area down into the main dining area, covered in the same red carpeting, with a rail on either side. Ruthie would get us going fast down the ramp to start the ride.

Simple pleasures, good memories 😁

We would have had a blast… most of the time there wasn’t anyone in my age group to play with.

We always went when it was cheapest, so during summer months, when there were plenty of vacancies.

It was great in the sense that we practically had the place to ourselves.

There were other guests staying there of course, but it wasn’t anywhere near capacity during off season.

Lots of times we would be the only family at either of the swimming pools.

It was a neat place, at a time when places like Tahiti on the Ocean were still family owned and operated, so the same people were running the place year after year, and you got to know them.

That creates a whole different atmosphere than a corporate chain, with the people running the place changing all the time.

Everything was casual back then, and the pace of life seemed much slower.

I miss that 🙂

Here is the article from NY Mag

Mr. Comey Goes To WashingtonBy Chris Smith
Oct. 10, 2003

Jim Comey is laughing. As the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, he holds one of the toughest jobs in law enforcement, at a time when the action has never been more intense. Around the corner from Comey’s downtown office, the first high-stakes test of his crusade against corporate corruption has begun with the trial of Frank Quattrone….

Comey has been savaged by William Safire and lauded by Chuck Schumer; just what kind of Republican is he, anyway? This sets Comey howling again. “I must be doing something right!” he says. “In college, I was left of center, and through a gradual process I found myself more comfortable with a lot of the ideas and approaches the Republicans were using.” He voted for Carter in 1980, but in ’84, “I voted for Reagan—I’d moved from Communist to whatever I am now. I’m not even sure how to characterize myself politically. Maybe at some point, I’ll have to figure it out.”

Or maybe he’s being disingenuous. Because three hours later, Comey gets a phone call from Washington: President George W. Bush is nominating him as the No. 2 man to Attorney General John Ashcroft. On the surface, it’s an odd pairing: Comey—who cites liberal theologian Reinhold Niebuhr as a formative influence…

https://abs-0.twimg.com/emoji/v2/svg/1f6a8.svg BREAKING: Democrat voting rights groups are now frantically preparing for the Supreme Court to ABOLISH the Voting Rights Act districts, resulting in a whopping *+19 MORE REPUBLICAN HOUSE SEATS* being added.

Holy smokes.

These districts are drawn for minorities to favor Democrats – but SCOTUS is on the verge of overturning it, per POLITICO.

“That calculation…would all but guarantee Republican control of Congress.”

The case: Louisiana v. Callais, will be heard by SCOTUS in one week.

From OT:

Democrats Decide to Take Out Candidate Katie Porter from California DNC Primary Race for Governor
October 9, 2025

SD: “Interestingly it appears the Democrat machinery has decided to torpedo former House member Katie Porter from her primary race for governor. Monday a controversial video segment appeared showcasing the unstable disposition of Mrs Porter, and today someone from inside the Biden govt decided to deploy another video showing her angry state of mind.

As noted by the New York Post, “California gubernatorial hopeful Katie Porter snapped and tried to storm out of an interview after being asked a simple question about President Trump — with the Democrat raging “I don’t want this all on camera.” Footage of the bizarre encounter, which aired on Monday and quickly started going viral, captured Porter flipping out when the reporter asked how she planned to win Republican votes as she tries to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom.” WATCH:

.

The second video is even more interesting as it comes from the vaults of the Democrat leadership apparatus. The second video emphasizing the unstable Porter narrative was recorded during an interview with former Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm in July 2021.

The video was sent to, and released by, Politico [STORY HERE].

.

[…] “Video of the exchange, exclusively obtained by POLITICO Wednesday, shows an online conversation between Porter and then-Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm in July 2021. Several minutes in, Porter’s staffer interjected to correct something the Democratic representative had said about electric vehicles. Porter then reprimanded her employee, who had also previously appeared periodically in the background during the recording.” MORE

The leaks are obviously blue on blue targeting as someone high up in the leadership of the Democrat apparatus wants someone other than Katie Porter to win the DNC nomination for California governor.

This looks an awful lot like a Pelosi operation.”

slowcreekno

The mole of the mole day is the quantity as chtulhu mentioned. From the exponent, 10^23 (1 followed by 23 zeros, hence the shortcut notation) to 10/23, October 23.

This is one of many other such numerical holidays.

There is the perfect day, June 28, since both 6 and 28 are perfect numbers; this is also Tau day, since tau = 2*pi = 6.28 approximately.

Then of course there is the Pi day, March 14, 3.14

Then there is the pi approximation day, July 22, or 22/7 in the european day/month notation. And as a fraction, 22/7 = 3.1429 and thus a reasonable good approximation to the actual value, 3.1416.

May 4th is from the spoken similarity «May the fourth [force] be with you» from Star Wars.

May 25th is similarly the towel day, from the Hitchhikers’s Guide to The Galaxy, where remembering to have one’s towel along was of the outmost importance.

There are plenty more of these unofficial holidays, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Unofficial_observances

– The Tides FIShing Network

– Johann Georg “Hansjörg” Wyss a billionaire donor in Switzerland
– Additional Foreign Cash

“We have identified dozens of radical organizations, not just the decentralized Antifa organizations, but dozens of radical organizations that have received more than $100 million from the Riot Inc investors.”

So, now we know why Gen Kellogg keeps telling us that Ukraine is winning the war and Russia has lost one million soldiers…
Exclusive: Gen. Kellogg’s Daughter Talks Charity Work in Ukraine, Relations With Father
Meaghan Mobbs, daughter of Gen. Keith Kellogg, Trump’s Ukraine envoy, heads a charity (NGO!) that supports Ukraine. In an exclusive interview, she talks to Kyiv Post about the US moral obligation to help.
“A peace at all costs is not peace at all, it’s surrender, so we have to be very careful about what peace means,” says Meaghan Mobbs, the daughter of Lt. Gen (Ret.) Keith Kellogg, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia. Mobbs is president of the R.T. Weatherman Foundation, a charity that is supporting Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war.
Following the recent visit of her father, Keith Kellogg, to Kyiv, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky, public attention turned to Meaghan Mobbs. As the head of the R.T. Weatherman Foundation, she has played a key role in providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine for at least the past three years.
https://share.google/Hm3ev3SbCBGcfvW37
According to a post on MOA the NGO headed by Kellogg’s daughter is a CIA Op that runs American, French and British mercenaries into and out of Ukraine including wounded mercenaries being sent to military hospitals in Germany!

kalbokalbs

Sadly, I think Trump is being sucked into the Ukraine quagmire…endless tax dollars going to Ukraine.

TradeBait2

100% – stop all money flow to any NGOs. No more tax dollars – period. Could care less if they are leftist or conservative. Neuter the clowns by shutting off the money flow. If people have a “cause” they want to support they can put up their own bucks or take private contributions.

Supply specific weapons if the Euros pay for them. No military or us paying mercenaries. Vlad may need a reminder not to FAFO. Euros are not serious if they keep taking Russian oil and NG through the back door. It is their problem to handle – not ours. If they want to fund Vlad’s war machine they are doing an excellent job of it.

Maybe they secretly want the Ukie nazis and other assorted scumbags killed off after all.

kalbokalbs

Precisely where I am. One caveat.

Vlad can do what he wants within Ukraine. Unrestrained, Vlad will, should steamroll across Ukraine. Force Ukraine capitulation.

TradeBait2

Agree completely. That place is evil at its core. More “good” people in the western area. But the rotten apples have spoiled the barrel.

Aubergine

I don’t believe one thing about the war in Ukraine. I’m not sure I even believe there is a war.

Every “war” in my 60 years of life has had war correspondents, video on the news, reports from the front, endlessly.

Now we have the internet, X, citizen journalists, and more mass media than ever, and what do we see? Bupkis.

I think it’s all a psy-op.

Gail Combs

Note that  Gonzalo Lira who was actually doing reporting.

RT — State Dept confirms death of US journalist jailed by Ukraine

Aubergine

He was. But he was a one-man show. Which is strange. The big networks, who usually are all-in with war reporting (remember Wolf Blitzer and the Gulf?) are nowhere to be found.

TheseTruths

There is no reporting on casualties and carnage because that would reveal the horrors of war. The media is in cahoots with those who want to keep the war going for as long as possible.

Comey slipping in the back door, earned another shithead in the East VA DOJ office a pink slip. Infested rot permeates that office. I suspect across DOJ.

I remain dumbfounded, indictments AND arrests are NOT happening. It just can’t be that fucking hard to create solid cases against those that conspired against America.

If nothing else, drop indictments and make arrests, while developing additional indictments…

The Super Slo Mo delivery of indictments, ONE Indictment, does NOT bode well for America, America First,

Last edited 1 month ago by patfrederick
TradeBait2

👍

Think about the multi-faceted legal war underway that DOJ is handling.

To fight a war on many fronts requires coordination. It also requires sufficient loyal troops. The latter point is the problem. You have to legally remove the embeds, disgruntled and misinformed with cause or else other cases and activities of DOJ come to a halt. Some of their staffing is not black hat, they are just politically aligned with Dems, deceived or disinterested. Some may turn out to be good professional employees.

That is why what Thune is getting done on confirmations is so big. All of those slots are now filled with MAGA – 160 or so of them in the last two batches. They already have their staffers and attorneys lined up and ready to go. They already know the black hats that remained and need shitcanned.

We should start seeing the snowball roll downhill more now. Until it gets going fully there will be an occasional high profile black hat nailed.

My concern will come if it has not escalated by early next year. That would mean PDT was not serious about righting wrongs. For justice to work, you have to right wrongs.

The EDVA is probably 80 – 90% Dem. The northern VA area is the same way for residents. They live off the DC teat. Anything to disrupt and root those blood suckers out is good by me.

TY for the clarification about Steve’s departure, Wolf. Glad Japan will have a fighting chance!

For me I was really wiped out from our Tuesday run to Ann Arbor. Josiah felt the need to go over his pancreatitis hospitalization & his grandma’s death a couple times, in great detail, with several staff members. I get really impacted by emotionally draining things.

Some Details about Josiah’s Cardiology Visit

One neat thing that came out of that draining recounting of events was that doctor telling J specifically that he could call him Any Time to discuss difficult medical decisions. He said this after we recounted the 2 am staff gathering around J’s bed trying to convince him to accept blood products “because if you don’t there’s a 60% likelihood that you’ll be dead in 2 days.” The Peds Cardiologist said that J could call him for input in any such scenario. This was rather a comfort as J’s old special needs pediatrician would have detailed involvement in his case & would want us to page her whenever he went to the ER, for instance, so it’s rather a relief to have a quality doctor step up to support my son!

We had a good visit w/ J’s cardiologist & will see him again in a year & That visit will be preceded by an Echocardiogram. Everything about J’s heart currently appears stable with no planned surgeries or procedures on the horizon. Because of his Bi-Cuspid aortic valve it is possible that at some point he may need the valve replaced. It currently has mild insufficiency & the aortic arch is also mildly dilated. So, in the event, well down the road, a surgery would be necessary it would be open heart & they would replace the Aortic Valve & also the ascending Aortic Arch, iirc. J would not be a candidate for the less invasive procedure that my dad underwent, largely due to age, as Dad’s replacement valve is expected to last about a decade & J’s more involved procedure & life expectancy would mean that they wouldn’t choose a course of action that would need repetition in another decade. At this point they would probably use artificial tissue for the valve AND aorta but there would be no anti-rejection med needs associated with that process. Of course options may be significantly different if/when the time comes to retool the heart.

It was good to hear that even though J has other cardiac issues, congenital & otherwise, it is quite unlikely that he would ever need a heart transplant, which is a relief. Also, if the valve becomes problematic enough to consider replacement the indicators should show up roughly 3 years before any procedure/surgery would be necessary. This is a huge relief knowing that there should be sufficient lead time to process such events instead of every, currently annual, visit quizzing the doc ad nauseum about how close we are to replacing that aortic valve.

Hopefully later today I’ll be fit to travel Up North to my dad’s Cottage so I can provide base camp support for some of our younger hunters, especially my daughter. As such I might be gone nearly 3 weeks so given Internet issues there & not being able to sign in to the Q-Tree in the regular way, I don’t want anyone to be overly concerned if you don’t hear (much) from me for a while. I’ll try to read along, a bit, as I can.

Love & Blessings to All

patfrederick

for 8 months of the year it is. sigh, but when the snow and ice settle in which can be anywhere from November to April, it gets tricky.
our 1/3-1/2 mile driveway is mostly in the shade of the mountain so snow driven on or even plowed can turn to ice. then grocery trips involve me riding on the back of the tractor down the driveway to a vehicle we parked there earlier in the month to go shopping and then riding back up the driveway afterward putting all the groceries in the bucket. the tractor has spike chains that the vehicles do not.
but then we feed all kinds of birds in the winter and we feed the deer and others who come corn so there’s plenty to enjoy by the fire.

A couple of queries …

Isn’t it long overdue for ‘dad’s cabin’ to be known as ‘the family cabin’?

Is there any good reason for you to avoid Starlink? It is a base station that you can take with you anywhere you go.

[You just can’t use it as a mobile station and you can’t use it as a basic cell phone. Skype and similar services are just fine, however.]

Betcha it’ll always be known as,

Dad’s Cabin. Perhaps Mom and Dad’s Cabin.

Is there any good reason for you to avoid Starlink?” :insane:

  • Cash flow. Affordability…. :wpds_wink:
Valerie Curren

Nailed it 🙂 Some of us still refer to it as my grandparents’ place even though GPa died in 1987. His name is still on the old mailbox.

kalbokalbs

Good to read AND as it should be.

Valerie Curren

Yes! If you scrape away the moss or lichen you can even see “El Viva” on the concrete pad that used to house the outdoor fireplace (torn down by bro & turned into a firepit nearby). My grandparents’ names were Elzine & Vivian so “El Viva” means “the life”

Hubby & I & our oldest son lived in the Cottage before buying our first house in town. Nathaniel is on the historical heights door jamb at one day old, since he was born in Gaylord, nicknamed “the Jackpine Savage”. Those door jambs have 5 generations of family on them so I Really Want this place to stay within the family!

cthulhu

Another translation for “El Viva” would be “He Lives”.

Valerie Curren

Thanks for that! It absolutely fits with our family’s Christian culture

Valerie Curren

I’m the only one of Dad’s kids who wants to retain the Cottage. My youngest brother is the executor for my parents’ estate & the only one who’s been given detailed financial info. I have no idea if I’ll be able to inherit the Cottage, it depends on complex financial things to which No One will give me a straight answer. I make it a matter of prayer & hope God makes a way. Dad & his sister jointly owned the Cottage after their dad died. Dad paid virtually all costs over the years except one year when she contributed to taxes. She chose to sign over her rights to the Cottage (quit claim deed I think) so it became solely my parents’ property. Dad may have established a Trust for it, but is often cagey whenever I inquire.

We don’t personally have the financial wherewithal to cover those additional expenses so our kids are prepared to chip in so we can keep the place in the family long-term, at least that’s what we all hope. It really needs to avoid probate & hopefully reassessment which would likely jack up costs significantly.

When Up North we bum Internet off a kind neighbor while he bums extra parking space from our half of the alley between our properties. We personally can’t afford to add Any expenses to our existence as we continue to function hand to mouth, sadly. So that would include Starlink. Maybe when/if the place becomes mine/ours & we reassess the financial situation between ourselves & the kids we’ll see if Starlink, or similar could be doable. To have broadcast &/or streaming TV in the Cottage would be a huge treat. Currently we just use DVD’s, VHS’s, & video games for viewing. Having the ability to watch sports, at least, would definitely be a great thing there!

PAVACA

Be well, travel safely, and enjoy the Cottage!

Never forget how this medical scandal began.

Back in the 1980s, a small group of trans activists hatched a plot: to take an absurd, illogical overvalued belief—that being transgender is innate, natural, healthy—and force all of society to live in a fictional world built on it.

Given the sheer audacity of that plot, there must have been people who said it couldn’t be done. But if such voices existed, they were ignored. And the activists pressed on until they succeeded in nothing less than reshaping reality itself.

And they didn’t just persuade people to politely look the other way.

They rallied good, decent people to march in the streets demanding that teenagers sacrifice their health, their fertility, and their sexual function in the name of this belief.

They convinced governments to write laws based on a non-existent, fictional concept.

They enlisted well-meaning teachers to poison the minds of a generation with absurd lies.

And they drove doctors to amputate healthy organs and call it medicine.

If they could succeed in creating that false reality, then surely we can succeed in restoring truth.

Because our cause is not built on lies but on logic and reason. Not on ideology but on sound ethical principles. Not on harm but on healing.

My talk at

@genspect’s conference in Albuquerque calls for the complete rejection of this dangerous belief.

Only by restoring truth and reality can we actually protect vulnerable people from this medical crime.

Ground report from Stuttgart, while visiting fam.

We’ve been here a week now and are finally getting over jet-lag. Don’t remember it being this bad in the past, and in those times, I travelled, internationally, A LOT!

TSA, Atlanta is completely incompetent. What a joke.
Delta -> AMS, cabin crew was great; the offered food was basically uneatable. I watched the flight crew throw away an amazing amount of food. The German Air, AMS->STR was just fine and on time [of course!]

I’ve never been to Stuttgart. I’ve found the City very well organized, the people are very friendly and always helpful. I’ve only seen one identifiable Muzzie, a couple of Indians and plenty of what I’m told are Eastern Europeans. They are not friendly and very pushy. The Germans barely tolerate them.

Stuttgart is basically two areas: the mostly residential area up on top of the “hill” and the old, city center with palace down below. It is very well laid out and fun to see. The most historic of the buildings were spared bombing in WWII, although there is/was massive reconstruction after the war.

Right by the Palace is the very old “City Market” which I’m told as been in operation since the 1600’s. It is amazing and a must see if you’re ever this way.

Food is very good; breads are everywhere and made fresh daily.

All around us are crops being grown. Out the window of our apartment, are squares of corn; gourds, cabbage and other herbs. Stuttgart is surrounded by wine growing vines and the variety of wine is plentiful. There are a serious number of Italians here with several wonderful restaurants, groceries and wine shops. They are every bit as polite as the Germans and both get along very well.

We’ll be off for more adventure this weekend returning next Tuesday.

I’ll file another report as time permits.

God Bless!

EACH DAY WE TAKE UP THE OFFENSIVE WEAPON OF THE WORD OF GOD – THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – ONE VERSE OPENS THE DOOR TO THE CONTEXT OF THE CHAPTER MESSAGE

Verse of the Day for Thursday, October 9, 2025

“For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”

Psalms 100:5 (KJV)

COMMENTARY FOR PSALMS 100

“An exhortation to praise God, and rejoice in him.

– This song of praise should be considered as a prophecy, and even used as a prayer, for the coming of that time when all people shall know that the Lord he is God, and shall become his worshippers, and the sheep of his pasture. Great encouragement is given us, in worshipping God, to do it cheerfully. If, when we strayed like wandering sheep, he has brought us again to his fold, we have indeed abundant cause to bless his name. The matter of praise, and the motives to it, are very important. Know ye what God is in himself, and what he is to you. Know it; consider and apply it, then you will be more close and constant, more inward and serious, in his worship. The covenant of grace set down in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament, with so many rich promises, to strengthen the faith of every weak believer, makes the matter of God’s praise and of his people’s joys so sure, that how sad soever our spirits may be when we look to ourselves, yet we shall have reason to praise the Lord when we look to his goodness and mercy, and to what he has said in his word for our comfort.”

Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

BUT GOD KNOWS

We do not know what tomorrow will bring
In reality we are not sure of anything
We close our eyes give way to sleep
There is no guarantee not even a peep

We say good-night to those we love
Entrust our rest to God above
Who knows the beginning from the end
Our entire life it is He who penned

Our days are full of challenges we know not
The what when why how the outcome naught
As we awaken to a brand new day
It is God who is there to guide our way

It is He who brings light into our lives
It is we who strives and trustingly thrives
It is He who shows us the path the way
Who unconditionally loves us everyday

It is He who gave us our free will choice
It is He who gave us His grace to voice
Our decisions be they right or wrong
Will determine our stance weak or strong

Will we give in to temptation and quit
Will we be weak and meek not give a whit
Will we be strong and fight the good fight
Or will we be tempted to just take flight

We have no insight into what might come
We have no idea what direction from
If our lives are justified through others
If our needs are fulfilled by another’s

If we live each day in the last place
Will we ever be first in any case
Will we finally learn to love ourselves
Or leave our desires on the shelves

In every phase of life on earth
What we do will prove our worth
How we adjust to the highs and lows
Will determine which way our life goes

When stuck in a rut of sorrow and woe
We really have no direction to go
We haven’t asked God what He wants us to do
We are simply comfortable in feeling blue

We grieve our situation and that’s ok
He would not want it any other way
We seem to think we will figure it out
All on our own mind you we have no doubt

But God knows and He will wait for you
He’ll show you daily what He wants you to do
Signs and wonders before you displayed
All in the balance come forth to be weighed

Love one another is what you must do
Love one another as He has loved you
Listen to the clues He provides you each day
Being true to yourself is the only way

Now is the time to spread your wings
To set your sights on universal things
You might have no idea what that means
But God Knows what He put in your genes

Goodness of God
A perfection of his character which he exercises towards his creatures according to their various circumstances and relations “(Ps. 145:8, 9; 103:8; 1 John 4:8). Viewed generally, it is” benevolence; as exercised with respect to the miseries of his “creatures it is mercy, pity, compassion, and in the case of” “impenitent sinners, long-suffering patience; as exercised in” “communicating favour on the unworthy it is grace. “Goodness and” “justice are the several aspects of one unchangeable, infinitely” “wise, and sovereign moral perfection. God is not sometimes” “merciful and sometimes just, but he is eternally infinitely just” “and merciful.” God is infinitely and unchangeably good (Zeph.” “3:17), and his goodness is incomprehensible by the finite mind” “(Rom. 11: 35, 36). “God’s goodness appears in two things, giving” “and forgiving.”

Psalms 52:1 Read whole chapter | See verse in context

(To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech.) Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.

Romans 2:4 Read whole chapter | See verse in context

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of Godleadeth thee to repentance?

Worry and Fret

The world is steeped in sin and guile,
Its lies torment us all the while.
Corruption weaves through every thought,
Its evil leaves our minds distraught.

We wonder if the world’s to blame,
Or if our hearts have gone insane.
Yet God stands near, His strength our guide,
His righteous hand stays by our side.

“Fear not,” He calls, “I’m with you still,
I’ll lift you up, your heart I’ll fill.”
Our sighs, our fears, He knows each one,
His care attends till day is done.

Each worry, great or small, we give
To Him, and in His peace we live.
Through prayer, with thanks, we seek His face,
His calm will guard our heart’s own space.

“Let not your heart be troubled long,”
He speaks, His peace a soothing song.
Tomorrow’s cares we need not bear,
Each day’s enough to hold our share.

Though anxious thoughts may weigh us down,
His comfort turns our fears around.
A kindly word can spark delight,
And lift the soul from darkest night.

He gives, He takes, yet still we sing,
His name is blessed in everything.
So cast your cares, His love is true,
For He who cares will carry you.

All things, He shapes for those who love,
To work for good, as sent from above.
His grace abounds, our needs He meets,
Providing strength for all our feats.

A time will come, our hope is sure,
When tears and pain will be no more.
Our Savior lives, His truth will stand,
He’ll reign at last o’er sea and land.

No sorrow, death, or cries remain,
No grief or loss, no lingering pain.
With joy and peace, we’ll dwell always,
In His great will, through endless days.

Good morning, C&C, it’s Thursday! Today’s roundup includes: major Middle East peace news as President Trump announces both sides agreed to phase one, which will bring the remaining hostages home; CNN reports real details on Trump involvement in brokering the deal; President Trump also hosts DeSantis-style roundtable with Antifa experts and the fur flies; and Rutgers Professor “Dr. Antifa” unsuccessfully attempts to flee the country. So much for courageous resistance. They are all paper tigers and armchair revolutionaries.

Gail Combs

Everyone needs to read this C&C!

I do have a tiny quibble:

First, let’s rightfully credit Governor DeSantis, who invented the format. During the pandemic, Florida’s governor held a series of streamed “round table” events with experts..

ERRRrrr, no that idea was NOT invented by DeSantis. Quality types have used it for years.

Deming, Juran, and Crosby: Pioneers in Quality Management – A Comparative Analysis

W. Edwards Deming:

Edwards Deming is best known for his 14 Points for Management, which emphasize the importance of leadership, continuous improvement, and 👉the involvement of all employees in the pursuit of quality. He advocated for a systemic approach to quality management, focusing on reducing process variation through statistical process control (SPC). Deming’s philosophy is often summarized by the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle.

Dr Deming is one of my heroes and I was able to actually attend one of his seminars. That is where I was introduced to the idea of involving the workers and not just the managers. So we had meetings that included the people on the floor. That was back in the 1980s.

pgroup2

Probably was meaning the first to use it for govt policy.

Gail Combs

About time!

Mini ground report from U of M Hospital

On Tuesday’s trip to Ann Arbor I was hoping to note things of interest, riffing on TB’s excellent report on Tuesday. While at the hospital we stopped into the “interfaith chapel” in the new Mott children’s wing of U of M Hospital. This chapel has been re-done in recent years so it looks even less like a faith space than it did previously. The former time it was still “interfaith” but it had stained glass windows but no imagery that was specific to any religious view. I’m not sure if it had overt materials for Christians, Jews, & Muslims or if I am conflating recollections of the chapel in the main University Hospital that (formerly?) had such items.

In this chapel space there was dim lighting, some hardbacked chairs lining the walls, including kid sized chairs that I remembered my GD liking (she was with us as her mom drove, being able to be on the clock as a staff person for her brother). There were soft, deep charcoal covered block looking chairs meandering through the center of the room. On the ceiling there were suspended glass globes of varying lighter colors, some containing light bulbs. On the far wall was a glass sculptural tree with many individual glass leaves of various light colors, similar colors to the suspended globes. In the top of the tree was the only bird, a bright red cardinal, that reminded us of my late mom (my parents were very into cardinals as it was their high school mascot, also a surname in Dad’s family background).

The only overtly religious items were Islamic prayer rugs laid out in various places, presumably facing Mecca, on nearly 1/4 of the available floor space. There were small beige objects on a couple window sills but I couldn’t make out the writing or symbols on them. My daughter said they looked to be Arabic script, so likely Muslim as well.

So basically this “interfaith” chapel had ONLY visible Muslim materials. This was pretty unsettling to me. There was an alcove in the back with a presumed Muslim woman was resting so I didn’t approach to check what items were available in the adjacent drawers. It is possible that there were Christian bibles & Hebrew writings in the drawers like I’ve seen in the hospital chapels years ago but I’m not sure. The prayer rugs were not attached to the floor so maybe Muslims just leave them out for repeated use rather than tucking them away in the provided drawers.

Upon arrival to the hospital they were, thankfully, pretty nonchalant about the health checks at the entrance, but then it’s early days for cold & flu season. I hope this means that the place doesn’t return to hard-core mask-naziism this year. J & I may find out next month when we’re back for the Liver Transplant Doctor.

One special thing was that we got to get some goodies–food, drink, & U of M items–as the hospital was celebrating being voted the #1 children’s hospital in Michigan in a number of departments, at least 3 of which Josiah had received care in over the nearly 3 decades we’ve been going there. One of those departments was behavioral medicine so I mentioned that he’d actually received his Autism Spectrum diagnosis via that behavioral department. I said it was Dr. Richard Solomon who had first said he was on The Spectrum. My daughter pipes up with “wait you mean Josiah was diagnosed by someone who shared his name with Dr. Dick Solomon, from Third Rock From The Sun!” Never thought of that priceless connection before–figures! LOL

Aubergine

I may be a terrible person, I am totally aware of it.

My first thought about that chapel was to wait until nobody was in it and steal all the prayer rugs.

My second thought (some redemption, I hope!) was to put a Bible at the head of every rug.

Valerie Curren

They supposedly revere Jesus as a Prophet so Might be open to reading the Bible 🙄

Aubergine

It might do them some good!

Valerie Curren

God’s Word won’t return void 😇

TheseTruths

They need crosses, or at least one prominent cross, in the chapel. That, or the prayer rugs need to be gone.

Valerie Curren

I would agree, as well as a Menorah. I think that devout Muslims pray like 5 times a day so it’s possible that those rugs get so much usage that they just get left out 🙄

Thirteen protesters were arrested and four Boston police officers injured during a pro-Palestine demonstration Tuesday that turned violent downtown.

Police said protesters kicked a marked cruiser, assaulted officers, blocked traffic and set off red smoke devices after moving from Boston Common to Tremont and Winter Streets.

The Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association and Mayor Michelle Wu condemned the attacks, calling for full prosecution of those responsible.

______________

Let the prosecution of those responsible start at the top.

Go look in the mirror, Wu.

scott467

The cops are playing games.

If it was white conservatives protesting, they’d have beat those people silly without a second thought.

This isn’t even hard. It’s embarrassing to pretend like the police aren’t able to handle this.

All the police have to do is send their goon squad. No women, no small dudes, just the big guys. Send them with billy clubs, which they better have been trained to use.

The moment anyone spits or touches an officer, let the beat-down begin.

There would be lots of broken bones and concussions.

But it wouldn’t be any of the cops going to the hospital.

From Yours Truly’s knowledge and perspective:

**** Physicians (and, actually, all healthcare providers) stay far away from admitting mistakes. Period. They hide this behind:
“It wasn’t in the patient’s chart” (blame an underling);
“The patient’s condition changed rapidly”;
“The patient wasn’t upfront about their symptoms”;
and so on.

In reality, for a healthcare provider to admit that a mistake was made could likely open the door to a lawsuit from the patient and/of the patient’s family.
In reality, for a healthcare provider to admit that a mistake was made could likely open the door to their License to Practice Medicine and/or their Medical Specialty board certification being revoked.

Case in point, involving Yours Truly:
One went to the dentist yesterday for a filling. One had, on the previous visit, TOLD THE DENTAL TECHNICIAN to make sure it was in my chart that Novocaine and Lidocaine cause my throat to numb up, and that I must have Mepivicaine only used as a numbing agent.
Yours Truly ASSUMED that this information would be put into my chart. BUT —
The technician obviously DID NOT put this information in my chart.

So, yesterday, I settled into the dentist chair, assuming no problems with the numbing agent to be used. NOPE.
After the numbing agent was injected into the dental area (thank God, it was a small area for a small filling for ONE tooth), I felt a LOT of numbing sensation.
The dentist came in to perform the filling. I asked what numbing agent was used.
IT WAS LIDOCAINE.
I said, “But I had told the tech on the previous visit that only Mepivicaine could be used.”
Dentist: “That wasn’t in the chart.”
Yours Truly: “Please MAKE SURE that it says in my chart that I CAN ONLY HAVE MEPIVICAINE USED. Novocaine and Lidocaine numb my throat.”
I also AGAIN told the dental technician to MAKE SURE that this information was added to my chart. And I STAYED IN THE TREATMENT ROOM UNTIL I SAW HER PUT THE INFORMATION INTO MY CHART.

It took SIX HOURS for that Lidocaine dose to wear off. I couldn’t chew, swallowing was done gingerly, and I could only take small sips of liquids through a straw until the stuff had worn off enough so that I could chew food.

So, on the NEXT visit to the dentist (another filling), I will MAKE SURE that Mepivicaine is ready to be used as the numbing agent BEFORE THE DENTIST COMES IN TO THE DO THE FILLING.

I cannot tell you how many times I had to recount Josiah’s Extensive medical history to Doctors at U of M Hospital, where nearly the entirety of his medical (& All of surgical & procedural) journey has taken place. I would guess his paperwork, archival files would be like 10 feet tall. But there is a running summary of key diagnoses, status, & surgical & procedural events included w/ every checkout document now. Clearly staff could review this material, if they chose to do so, & not put us through the overwhelming memory journey to recount key info. Thankfully visits in recent years haven’t tried to dive into his entire history, which is exhausting.

We have to Constantly be advocates for ourselves & loved ones & pretty much Never let our guards down with these health “care” professionals…sigh…

MAJOR REQUEST.

What is the best source for DMSO?

….

It looks like there are at least 3 of us who need it.

My very helpful neighbor has just had a diagnosis of possible Cirrhosis of the liver.

I am going to hand him three pages of notes. pointing to the miwesterndoctor, liver doctor, Milk Thistle and such.

Does anyone have any other recommendations for info he should look at.

And NO he does not drink and he is a pure blood. However pain medication maybe a problem as well as grief (his daughter died recently.)

They also sell on Amazon.

If you order from DMSOstore.com, it gets delivered by Amazon.

By contrast, if you order from jcrowsmarketplace.com, they ship it….but if you order from Amazon, amazon ships it. This matters for me, because Amazon managed to destroy an eyedropper on my order. Not only have I never had such a problem with J Crow’s direct, they also sent me a new dropper to fix my Amazon order.

Gudthots

J. Crow’s has always been generous with extra droppers. Iodine tends to turn the bulb top solid after some time.

cthulhu

Aye, but Amazon will ship it that way.

Gudthots

A DMSOstore bottle leaked during a shipment to me last year. I emailed them and they offered a refund or a new bottle. Nice customer service.

What the…? There is more going on here than meets the eye…
NIH Funds Creation of New Frankenstein Bird Flu Virus in Europe—Tests It in Alabama: Journal ‘Vaccine’
The NIH-funded research demonstrates that synthetic, multi-strain chimeric influenza viruses were genetically constructed in Europe using reverse-engineered plasmids and then tested in live mammals with an H5N1 challenge in the United States.
Taken together with concurrent projects at the USDA, CDC, and BARDA, the work underscores a broad, multi-agency program to bioengineer, test, and commercialize novel avian-influenza viruses and related countermeasures—often under the banner of “vaccine” or “therapeutic” development.
While the authors describe their study as vaccine research, the combination of cross-continental virus construction, high-pathogenicity live-animal challenges, and U.S. federal coordination situates it squarely within the domain of gain-of-function–type experimentation, raising renewed questions about oversight, transparency, and biosecurity.

Thank you. Yours Truly is aware of this.

It’s GAIN-OF-FUNCTION that the US is funding to be done overseas, since GoF has basically been paused here

This behind-the-back GoF crap is going on with the knowledge of Dr. Jay Bhattacharya (NIH Director) and Dr. Jeffery Taubenberger (NIAID Acting Director.)

Recall that Dr. Taubenberger OWNS THE PATENT for that “Universal Influenza Vaccine” that he created while working at the NIH back in 2020.

This “Universal Influenza Vaccine” was cobbled together from as many as 16 different strains of Avian Influenza viruses.

Yours Truly has written about this situation for Health Friday posts, and in other discussion threads on the board here.

BREAKING: Hakeem Jeffries was just EMBARRASSED for holding the government hostage…holy smokes. This was bad.

CNBC: “There was an ELECTION. Republicans were able to pass the Big Beautiful Bill. To then say, ‘We don’t like that, so we’re gonna shut down the government until you take back ALL the things you duly passed!'”

“If the GOP did that to the Inflation Reduction Act, or any of the Biden acts, shut down the government because we don’t like it, not pay military, not allow the government to open until YOU DO WHAT WE WANT, after an election when the American people put Democrats in power – you’d be GOING CRAZY!”

“It’s not how it works! It’s BAD, it’s bad precedent! And you’re talking about the House? You’ve already passed this! The SENATE has a bill to reopen the government right now with 5 more Democrats.”

HAKEEM: What is bad precedent is the Republican refusal to engage in bipartisan negotiations! THEY’VE made the government shutdown, they could open it now!

CNBC: How?!

HAKEEM: I just explained it! They want to keep it closed. Cruelty has been the point. Sit down and negotiate a bipartisan path forward!

CNBC: Can you do that while the government is open?! That’s the offer on the table. Sounds like they are willing to negotiate.

HAKEEM: Healthcare is an issue Republicans have ignored!

WATCH: “Columbus Day, We’re back, Italians!” – President Trump Signs Powerful Columbus Day Proclamation for “the Original American Hero” – Proclamation SLAMS Left’s “Vicious and Merciless Campaign” Against Columbus

President Trump opened his cabinet meeting on Thursday by signing two proclamations honoring “legendary” Norse Viking Leif Erikson and the “legendary” Christopher Columbus, who the proclamation describes as “the original American hero, a giant of Western civilization, and one of the most gallant and visionary men to ever walk the face of the earth.”

Leif Erikson Day is today, October 9, and Christopher Columbus Day is on Monday, October 13.

No longer will Columbus’s memory be adulterated with so-called “Indigenous Peoples’ Day.”

“In other words, we’re calling it Columbus today,” the President remarked while signing his proclamation, leading to cheers and applause from the whole room, including the press, he said.

“That was the press that broke out in applause. I’ve never seen that happen before. The press actually broke out in applause,” he said, laughing.

IMF panicking, global debt is getting out of hand and there is no event people will know that debt destroyed the economic system. D’s are trying to push the shutdown to cause an economic event to blame on Trump. Jamie Dimon predicts a market crash. Trump’s new parallel economic system is about to take off, Trump’s says gas prices will go below $2 a gallon. The D’s are trapped, the shutdown is not working the way they thought. The people are on the side of Trump and the team. Schiff projects on how the insurrection might start. Are they planning a [FF]? Trump has now trapped the D’s/[DS] with peace. Trump is shutting down their endless wars. He is weakening the [DS]. Leverage is the key.

This is a legitimately breathtaking (and real) photograph by Simon Needham.

The context makes it even more interesting. It was taken at a lion conservation park in South Africa. The mound isn’t a natural kill site; the sanctuary staff collect the bones from feedings over the years. This magnificent lion just happened to climb up at the perfect moment.

A stunning case of a photographer being ready when a completely surreal, unscripted moment occurs.

cthulhu

I believe I have a couple of photos by Simon Needham through his remarkable telephoto lens — one of Zion National Park from the canyon rim, and another one of a lion. The older male lion is scarred but healed — as if he fought his way to the top and rested once he got there.

The reason I’m not exactly sure is that I keep them as computerized jigsaw puzzles and did a big system upgrade recently. Over the last few days, however, I’ve been ripping DVDs and slamming a couple of terabytes of them onto my new media server, so I haven’t been migrating my old system data.

cthulhu

Incidentally, a standard DVD holds:

4.7 GB (1 side, 1 layer)
8.5 GB (1 side, 2 layers)
9.4 GB (2 sides, 1 layer) or
17.08 GB (2 sides, 2 layers)

I’m “ripping” them to the mkv data format so that they’re portable across devices and can be stored at the media server. This gets rid of the “air” on the disc. As an example, if you have a 4.7G disc with a 2.8G movie on it, the mkv file will only be 2.8G.

I’m storing these dvds on a 6T drive, so they can maybe fit 2000 dvds before I have to add another drive.

cthulhu

If I rip the DVDs on the actual media server, they get dropped in the user’s home directory, and I can just move them into the server’s preferred directories….but if I rip the DVDs on the old beast next to me, I have to put them on a thumbdrive and move them (“sneakernet”) onto the media server.

The bad news is that the USB ports on this dinosaur are 2.0 .

It takes over three hours to move 100G of DVD data onto the thumbdrive. The server can upload them in about 20 minutes.

RE: The Letitia James Indictment

Honestly, I think this may be the most important thing that Trump 45 or Trump 47 has accomplished thus far. It may have reset us to the baseline of comity.

You see, for many years now Democrats have believed that they could do basically whatever they wanted to Republicans, whilst Republicans were still bound by the Old Rules of comity and respect.

“You no longer can assume that we will let you do whatever you want to us. We will do to you what you did to us. And we will be merciless until you prove you will never do it again.”

The particular beauty of the James indictment is that she brought the most scurrilous and ridiculous of charges against Trump, while the record shows that James clearly committed the basic federal crimes she has been charged with.

Here’s the other thing. Federal laws are so complex and capacious that pretty much every one of us breaks a federal law every few months without knowing that we did. There has long been a tacit understanding in this regard that politicians would not take advantage of this with regard to mere “footfaults” on nonsense laws.

But Democrats decide to abandon that too. New Rules. That we now follow. Suck on it, Democrats. You get what you paid for.

(But to repeat; James charged Trump with nonsense; Trump charged James with a verifiable crime.)

BREAKING: Biden Judge Blocks Trump’s National Guard Deployment in Chicago

NBC Chicago reported:

federal judge granted a request to temporarily block a National Guard deployment in Chicago, saying the move violates the U.S. Constitution.

U.S. District Judge April Perry ruled the Trump administration’s deployment of troops in Chicago violated the 10th and 14th amendments, as well as the nearly 150-year-old Posse Comitatus Act, which limits the military’s role in enforcing domestic laws.

It was not immediately clear when the temporary restraining order will take effect and how long it will last. Perry said she plans to issue another ruling Friday on the case.

Perry called the federal government’s recount of recent events in Chicago and surrounding suburbs “simply unreliable,” saying in the last 48 hours four separate decisions by different neutral parties cast doubt on the Department of Homeland Security’s credibility.

“I don’t find any evidence of impeding actually happened,” Perry said, noting she has “found no credible evidence that there is a danger of rebellion in the state of Illinois.”

Psalm 8

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
