The Iranians I see on youtube seem like perfectly normal people you could get along with easily anywhere. Very Western, in the best sense of the term.

He was married to a beautiful Iranian woman whose family left during the fall of the Shah in those days. Many of us got to know the couple well and she shared about life there. Within 72 hours, the national security think tank world lined up to kill it. CSIS published a piece titled “The Golden Fleet’s Battleship Will Never Sail,” estimating $9 billion per hull, predicting cancellation before the first ship hits water.
The Foundation for Defense of Democracies called it a waste. Retired admirals said the Navy should buy small distributed platforms instead. Every defense analyst in Washington competed to be quoted saying it was impossible.
The military industrial establishment, with the help from allied think tanks and colleges, lined up to piss on the plans.

I think you are right and Konrad is wrong about the tariffs. But I also think that he’s right on how this military exercise is revealing to the whole world the true state of the navies around the world. The US is in better shape than Europe, but China is producing ships (all mil spec by requirement) at something like 250x the rate that the US is right now.
The enemy think-tanks are obviously going to shoot down everything, so their impotence had to be entirely expected and a non-factor.

Had a conversation with a young MAGA man who is depressed about the war and Trump’s lack of progress on many fronts.
I understand the disappointment but not the desperation.
America is great despite what happens in DC, not because of it.

There are several, actually. And the reasons range from common sense to very sleazy.
The first is that the underlying assumptions don’t work. In a for-profit enterprise, you can talk about profits as successes. If you have a government that provides a justice system with courts and bailiffs, how do you assess the justice you’re supposed to be getting? Do you measure it with revenue from red-light cameras, or count every violent felon released into the neighborhoods as a plus?
Related to this is the usual measures in financial accounting for efficiency. What is the efficiency of Lake Mead (the reservoir behind Hoover Dam)? What is the efficiency of the US Capitol Building, or the White House?
The focus of financial accounting is whether someone might invest in an organization, or lend them money. If you live in Santa Clara, CA, you can’t just decide to elect the costs and benefits of the neighboring city of Sunnyvale. Much of government accounting involves approved budgets, not real results.
Finally, it should be noted that the words “accounting” and “accountable” are nearly the same…..and it is shamefully true that nobody in government wants to be held accountable for anything. What incentive is there for government accounting to be transparent, understandable, and meaningful?

I know someone that has found it very helpful to make public records requests for the financials for various counties in their state. Some counties don’t even have publicly available breakdown showing the details. Just high level spending categories. So they started pulling the board of supervisor’s meeting records. Next up: Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida. What I saw on the ground in Florida around durable medical equipment fraud was horrifying. The scale is out of control – and not just limited to these schemes. Cleaning this up will require a laser focus and real action from state leaders.
The reality is that fraud in our government health programs is widespread, sophisticated, and deeply entrenched. Consider just a few recent cases:
June 2025: The CEO of a healthcare software company was convicted of orchestrating a nationwide scheme that generated fraudulent physician orders and resulted in more than $1 billion in false Medicare claims.
January 2026: Two health care executives were convicted for running a $34 million Medicare Advantage fraud scheme, using deceptive telemarketing tactics to pressure elderly beneficiaries into accepting medical equipment they didn’t need.
January 2026: A laboratory owner admitted guilt in a $52 million Medicare fraud operation involving medically unnecessary genetic testing ordered through illegal kickbacks.
January 2026: Two individuals were arrested in Central Florida for a Medicaid fraud scheme that billed the program for thousands of non-emergency medical transportation trips that never occurred, stealing more than $65,000 from taxpayers.
And these are just the cases that have already been uncovered.
Behind every fraudulent claim is money taken from taxpayers, resources diverted from patients who truly need care, and vulnerable seniors and low-income Americans being exploited for profit.

Yesterday evening, family dinner at Chez Son and DIL. SILbyM and BILbyM were present. Yours Truly noted that BILbyM had very little appetite (unusual.)
During dinner conversation, BILbyM mentioned that he was trying to lose weight (his weight had gone up.) Tried doing dietary changes, reducing amounts of food taken at meals, etc. Got frustrated. Went to his doctor.
The doctor put BILbyM on Ozempic. This was two weeks ago. “Starter dose.” (It was unclear if he was put on the injected version, or on the tablet version.)
It appears that nasty side effects started quickly — loss of appetite; “feeling spacey” (his term); not “feeling himself.” He goes back to the doctor next week for a followup exam.
Compounding factors: BILbyM is a tall, big-boned man who had a hearty appetite before starting Ozemic. Consumes alcohol, relishes wine and hard liquors. Has Afib (diagnosed last year — YT suspects it’s COVID-19 modRNA bioweapon “vaccine”-related. BILbyM has taken at least 6 shots since early 2021.) Previously-succesful corneal implants failed and had be redone twice last year (again, YT suspects “vaccine”-induced ocular issues.) Has had COVID infections at least four times, each time worse/longer than the last. Was diagnosed with Long COVID last fall.
OK, so Yours Truly gently suggested that maybe the “starter dose” of Ozempic could be reduced — and the idea was immediately dismissed as “can’t do that, it’s already the lowest dose.” Except that in LAB RAT studies of Ozempic, the LAB RATS were given doses that ranged from MUCH smaller than the “lowest dose” for humans, up to MUCH larger doses than would be given to humans.
Doctor of BILbyM had told him to make sure he takes more protein than usual due to the effects of the drug. YT gently suggested that hydration was also important. Idea was again immediately dismissed. YT countered with “People who eat less food sometimes believe that they also should drink less fluids”, which was apparently “accepted.” Except that the Package Insert for Ozempic clearly states that avoiding dehydration is very important (section 17 Patient Counseling Information.)
BILbyM eventually said that he’d give the drug “six weeks to see if it works.”

PAVACA that must be so frustrating and worrying for you. The public has been swallowed in advertising for these products. I hate it.
What really frosts me is doctors either do NOT read the Package Inserts for the items the prescribe; and/or blindly follow the “best practices” / “consensus practices” set forth by the FDA/AMA/their medical specialty credentials agency; and/or get “bonus payments” from insurance companies / drug manufacturers.
My BILbyM is 75 years old. Has several other medical issues. Why didn’t the doctor counsel him to stay with his diet plan longer?
It just seems nonsensical.
How overweight is GILbyM? If only a little, I just can’t understand the need for Ozempic. Even if a moderate amount, this still sounds risky.
My daughter has friends that could only be slightly over a desirable weight on them, some having true problems……but yet they stay on them. Mind boggling.
That leads to why doesn’t the Dr. tell them it would be in their best interest to pause the GLP? They don’t. They keep billing for the visits regarding the side effects.
I tell you – there are WAY too many “pharmapaths” among the MD crowd.
They’re locked in. Pharma provides patients (that watch tv for diagnosis) and the pharmapath is created! So easy. Like the old time drug dealer giving away a ‘taste’ and then they gain a customer.

The nausea / GI upset side effects on him appear to be bad. The suggestion was made yesterday at dinner that he take Zofran to “deal with” the nausea / GI side effects of the Ozempic.
Zofran (ondansetron) is basically contraindicated for persons who have heart problems. BILbyM has Afib.
My guess is yes they receive a bonus for the prescription and they no longer practice actual patient care. It’s first and foremost a transactional relationship with Pharma, labs and testing theaters like MRIs, CAT scans etc.
The whole body health concept seems obsolete. The old antiquated idea of recalling past patients presenting with similar symptoms and what was the final successful result has been replaced with a 30 second consult with AI

my son, when he was younger, ran marathons, biked everywhere and swam at the local quarry. He competed and finished as an Iron Man. Then he got a job working different shifts–some weeks would be days, then he’d shift to nights for weeks.
He continued to swim, bike and run but eventually he gained weight. I think his body’s circadian rhythm is all messed up and that contributed to the weight gain.
He wants to try ozempic–i keep trying to discourage that.

I bet almost all drug inserts would be horrifying if people read them, and yet some of those drugs have been on the market for years. (I’m not excusing anyone; just commenting on the state of medicine.)
I was once prescribed the antibiotic Levoquin (Levofloxacin). After I saw the side effects, I refused it. The doctor hadn’t mentioned them to me; I found out on my own. When I said I would not take it he accepted that while also saying that he had taken it and had given it to his children with no problem. Some people here might have taken it. I am not willing to take the risk of permanent tendon and/or nerve damage that could start long after I had finished the course of treatment.
This drug may cause severe side effects like irritated or torn tendons; nerve problems in the arms, hands, legs, or feet; and nervous system problems. These can happen alone or at the same time. They can happen within hours to weeks after starting this drug. Some of these effects may not go away, and may lead to disability or death. The chance of irritated or torn tendons is greater in people over the age of 60; heart, kidney, or lung transplant patients; or people taking steroid drugs. What’s so frustrating, and what I think you’re experiencing, is that some won’t heed cautionary advice that could prompt them to look into things. My impression is that that willful blindness keeps them from having to face unpleasant and difficult truths.
There are reports that the Ozempic class of drugs can cause (among other things) stomach paralysis, and that sometimes it’s permanent. I can’t imagine taking the risk of permanently altering one’s health when there are other ways to reach the same goal.

OK, I was able to fix the spoiler and fix the sidebar by doing so!
I think people who were very active stop or change things can get weight. My so was a marathon athlete also still bicycled but did not have time once a doctor. He had gained weight and eventually lost it. I think he did the low carb diet and increase activity again. He is 59 and does not have kids at home and time for himself again. Kids took up his free time same with his wife.

It also extends into the various “talking points” and the various “conversation parameters” that healthcare professionals are given via the AMA, etc., regarding “steering” patients and/or their families into, for example, agreeing to get COVID-19 “vaccinated.”

BTW. In my uniformed opinion. ~20 lbs over weight Is A Nothing Burger. Yea, lose it, but NOT a big deal.

My husband is 6 feet and weighs 150 LB never was overweight and has all the health problems overweight people have. Heart problems diabetic. His mother was slim high blood pressure died of an heart attack. My neighbor was very slim had a stroke at 62. I have known people up to 45-50 LB overweight lived to be 90. I am not sure what the right weight is supposed to be. Of course morbid overweight is a problem and yes careful diet is advised but each person has their own metabolic function. There people like my hubby who can eat any amount of food never gain a pound. I eat more than I should gain 5LB. I always have to watch myself mindful eating with every bite still I am not skinny but also not fat as my doctor declared even though I think I am.
Get off the drugs.
Keto. Give up the booze, Cut out the sugar, cut down the bad carbs. There are charts on the web of what you can eat. Ketosis kicks in within a week to 10 days. Don’t eat anything within 2 hours of going to bed. You can eat all the right things you want to stay full. You no longer have sugar cravings.

ALSO take Iodine if you do not cook at home with iodized salt. That can make a BIG difference in weight loss, at least it did for me.
Also OTC pain killers esp ibuprofen can make you feel hungary.
So sad & unsettling. When I saw a quack recently (we have to go at least once per year to get “discounted” insurance coverage) he wanted me to consider one of those GLP type of drugs for Type II Diabetes. I wasn’t comfortable going that route & he seemed baffled by someone not immediately jumping on the bandwagon. If we would have discussed the pros & cons of such a med I would guess that I would have been the only one raising any con issues. First Do NO Harm just pretty much doesn’t exist any more 🙁

we actually put in the pond a year after our home was built. there was significant runoff from above–we just harvested it. we put in water lilies and a little waterfall and then stocked it with fish. The frogs came after that and and the wildlife found it soon after. The deer, the raccoons, the bears, and all other kinds of animals visit for a drink. it was a really great decision.

I agree with you, but IMO this one is different. I was cheering throughout because Bongino validated things I’ve noticed and pointed out many times about various topics. He took an hour to go through a 3-4-minute clip of Joe Kent, and Bongino pointed out things that apply to all of those who are trying to make us believe they are insiders or who are trying to turn us against Pres. Trump. IMO it was a masterclass in how to parse what people say. He mentioned:
• Hidden knowledge – that these people claim to know things that not even the people around Pres. Trump, or Trump himself, know (or they claim to know things that are the opposite of what an FIB agent like Bongino, an actual friend of Charlie Kirk’s, knows about him, etc.)
• Gatekeeping – Claims are made, but no proof is provided. Sometimes it is said that proof can’t be provided. These people just *know,* and we are expected to trust them.
• The implication that the people surrounding Trump are either sabotaging him or staying silent while others do so, even though they are Trump’s friends and are loyal to the country. The “influencers” would quickly get taken down if they said things directly about Trump, so they try to make him look incompetent by tearing down those with whom he works.
• Many blatant lies that Kent told, about which Bongino has actual insider information. (And I’m cheering “Yes!” There’s no way for these people to know the things they claim. They are liars.)
• Flooding of many bits of supposed information to try to persuade
• Lack of correlation between pieces of information, but implying that they are related to make things look suspicious
• Total lack of logic
• Superstition – ignoring facts while connecting things that are unrelated (and that in some cases aren’t even real) so that in the future people will unthinkingly *know* that there is causality. This happens even here with certain topics.
• The claim that something is a “data point,” which attempts to make it relevant when it is not
I have long remarked the difference between the “big fish” who don’t subscribe to every conspiracy theory, who are actual insiders, and who think logically, vs. the small fry and unknown people who latch on to, or make up, untenable theories and spread them. IMO it’s akin to professionals vs. unprofessionals in a field of expertise, or to watching people who exercise restraint, logic, and emotional intelligence vs. those who don’t. Allowing ourselves to be swayed by those who speak out of self-interest (i.e., to be conned) is not wise and can only hurt our movement.

I would like to see the letter to Candace Owens. I can’t imagine her backing down one inch.
