I thought this Colonel Towner video was interesting for a couple of reasons. First, the Trump Admin’s targeting of universities like Harvard. Second ALL the foreign students, esp Chinese that are brought into the USA as foreign students and then STAY. And last, because one of the courses I took in the mid 1970s was at a college well KNOWN for it’s CIA ties. The course was excellent BTW.
I am going to start with this because it is part of the whole picture.

They did it for the same reason companies add tons of salt and sugar: for taste and for visual appeal. It’s all to make the unwitting consumer buy without considering optimal health. Natural coloring alternatives that have been used for a long time for foods that can be found in health food stores. Annatto extract is one of them.

I’m still researching my next PC, it always take me awhile, because I don’t keep up much with component upgrades / technology advances between PCs, and a lot changes during the 4+ years between PCs.
Windows 10 support was supposed to end yesterday, on the 14th.
I was prompted for a Windows update today, and when I clicked on it to check the timing (so it didn’t restart my PC without warning), I noticed an option to log in to Microsoft and get extended Windows 10 updates good through October 13, 2026 (i.e., a full year more).
First time I heard anything about this extension of the deadline, so it might be helpful to know for others.
I mentioned it the last two days. I’m working on trying to get it for a third computer — if it doesn’t work, it’s getting Mint instead.

It puts off the immediacy of buying a new machine for 12 months, which is always good in that it allows Moore’s law to run another year. Remember that the End of 10 was announced in 2023 and this one-year extension seems to have come out in the last couple of weeks, so it’s not like Microsoft isn’t jacking you around.
My advice would be to pick up on a cheap Win10 computer and run Linux on it to get used to it. That way, you can short-circuit the next Windows fire drill.
I really want to get my SILENCE back.
My current (and failing) PC is fanless, with SSD drives, so it’s completely silent, but it was built 4 years ago, and the guy who custom built it for me used a 65w CPU, and this year I started having heat issues.
So now I have a quart size pan with an ice pack inside it, sitting on top of the fanless PC (the case is the heatsink with heat pipes running from the CPU to the outer case), to keep it cool enough to stay on.
But that’s not enough, I also have a ROOM FAN blowing on it. Ice pack has to be changed every 2 hours, which requires a little kitchen timer alarm, so I don’t forget.
Silence is expensive, but I have been fighting PC noise ever since I had the misfortune of buying my Dell Leaf-Blower™ model in the 1990s.
Each PC since then has been an effort to get more silence. I built my own PC before the current PC, it used giant heat sinks and multiple large, slow fans. Huge case, positive pressure design, 3 giant fans across the bottom, blowing air into the case, with heat exhaust vents at the top.
Building my own PC was way beyond my comfort zone, but there wasn’t any other way I could find at the time to get a QUIET computer. So I researched and bought all the parts, followed videos on youtube to assemble it, held my breath and pushed the power button… and amazingly, it worked.
It worked surprisingly well for maybe 8 years, until dust inevitably built up in places the dust-buster couldn’t get to it, and/or electronic parts became less efficient with age, requiring the fans to be run faster to keep temps within acceptable range, defeating the silence objective.
Then came the current PC, the first completely FANLESS design. This has been outstanding, for about 3-1/2 years… but in the last 4 or 5 months, it has become unstable due to heat issues, requiring the exterior cooling idiocy mentioned above. Otherwise it randomly reboots when it gets too hot.
Since Windows 11 appears to be a no-go zone (philosophically, privacy-wise) at this point, it seems my only choice is to go Linux with another fanless PC design (better design with a 35W CPU), or an Apple mini M4, which is supposed to be very quiet.
Either one is an entirely new operating system. I am not a tech-oriented person. I don’t want to learn a new operating system, but it seems like I have a year to do so, whether I want to or not.
My current PC isn’t going to last another year, or at least what remains of my sanity won’t last another year, not using that computer with the room fan and changing the ice pack every 2 hours.
I could get a cheap PC to learn Linux, but the sound of a PC fan is like chyneeze water torture, and a cheap PC is probably not going to be very quiet.
So I’m not very happy about any of this!

It’s the constant, never-ending drone of the fan.
It starts out tolerable, unnoticeable, even. But then after a few hours it’s like a migraine headache, just starting at the back of your neck.
As the hours go by it gets worse and worse, seemingly louder and louder, until the distraction is so great (or the irritation is so raw) that I just want to break something, anything to make it STOP.
I think the Dell Leaf-Blower™ PC I had in the 1990s was so bad that it gave me PC-PTSD.
I should note that Linux allows you to mount remote disks so that they appear anywhere in your file system, including your home directory (or parts of it). If you need to silently have access to a lot of data, you can put the data in another room and access it via ethernet or Wi-Fi.

I don’t want any wi-fi, or 5G nonsense. I don’t understand the technology, so I don’t know if it’s unhealthy for long-term exposure, and unfortunately the credibility of the ‘expert’ class has really taken it in the shorts since Covid, so I just don’t mess with any of it.
Besides, I grew up with separate home stereo components (receiver, turntable, tape deck, equalizer, then CD player, then later added a VCR to the mix, then separate amp and pre-amp, etc.), which is what I still use, so hooking electronics up with cables is natural for me.
I never liked cell phones because whenever I talked to someone who was on a cell phone, they would drop out all the time, or the signal would cut out when they went through a tunnel, or some other thing would go wrong. Talk about not being ready for prime-time, I had walkie-talkies that worked better.
And they still don’t work right, 20+ years later. That’s why I use a corded desktop phone with a curly cord attached to the handset. Corded/wired stuff just WORKS.
And that’s what I need it to do, I need it to actually work… 😂
PC just shut down an rebooted itself again for the 3rd time today. Seems like it’s doing this every day now, two or three times, until it’s stable enough to run for the rest of the day.

Get a can or two of compressed air, and blow out the CPU fan and case fans… if it’s a laptop, chances are the fan from the CPU heatsink venting to the outside of the case is totally blocked (won’t say how I know that except that it looked like a geriatric caterpillar 😀 )…
Download and install a small utility program like “speccy” to keep tabs on temps and other things like your discs (S.M.A.R.T. values, etc.)…
That could keep you going until you have a chance to replace your rig…

There are no fans in my current PC, it’s a fanless design, with heat pipes that connect the CPU to the inside of the metal case, which has fins, so the whole case acts as a heat sink.
The guy who built my current PC is no longer in business. I didn’t know at the time that there were 35W CPUs, I was counting on the ‘expert’ to build the most durable and robust PC I could get in a fanless design.
It should have had a 35W CPU…
This is what the case looks like, it’s fairly small, 10-3/8” (W) x 9-3/4” (D) x 2-7/8” (H)
When I set a steel pan with an ice-pack inside on top of the metal case lid, it draws the heat from the case to the ice-pack, which melts in about 2 hours.
This example has a clear top lid, which allows the heat pipe to be seen, extending from the CPU to the inside wall of the case:

It looks like the fins are the primary heat exchanger, through air flow through the fins. Lifting the case off the table top would increase the flow. Icing the bottom edges at the fins may help increase the air flow,
Yep, the fins are it, but the metal top (on mine) is tightly attached to the metal frame which has the fins, so heat is dissipated via the fins and also drawn to the cold in the ice pack.
The top, which gets hot otherwise, turns nice and cool with the pan sitting on top of it, and the fins go from hot to merely warm.
I set the PC on top of four Mrs. Renfro’s Green Taco Sauce metal lids to allow greater airflow underneath. One metal lid under each rubber foot on the bottom of the PC case.
It’s a thing of beauty, with a pan sitting on top and the whole thing sitting on salsa lids, with an ice pack in the pan and a 3-foot tall room fan blowing on the whole contraption.
The original designers would be so proud… 😂
Maybe you need to shorten the ice pack changing time &/or use a bigger ice pack 🤪

I’ve tried different pans, the one I’m using is the biggest one I can use without blocking the heat vents in the top of the case and still fit solidly (flat) against the top (so there will be heat transfer), because there are raised caps at the four corners (maybe covering screws that hold the case together, I’ve never taken it apart).
If I use a bigger pan, the raised caps at the corners mean the pan has to be pushed toward the center, in order to rest flat on top of the case, which then blocks the heat vents.
If I use any smaller pan, the ice packs won’t fit.
I measured the inside diameter of the biggest pan I could use, and bought the biggest ice packs that would still fit inside it when frozen.
It has been a long, tedious, frustrating trial and error process… 😂

I strongly suspect that WINDOWS and DESKTOP are the source of the sound problem. I can assure you that almost all forms of Linux on laptops are damn near silent.
Laptops are designed to minimize energy use and dissipate heat very efficiently. Macbooks seem to have the loudest excursions to noise (though typically brief), but Linux just seems quiet all the time.
I would recommend a big, cheap laptop – Dell, HP, etc – running Ubuntu. You can ditch the ice bucket!

I can hear it. Like constant low-level white noise, blanketing the sound field. It’s not loud, but it’s constant. It’s always there. Like an aggravation creation machine.
Apparently I have extremely sensitive hearing. I spend most of my time in a very quiet environment. No TV on in the background, nothing. Just quiet.

A year or so ago, I posted here about hearing a tapping noise in the house.
I walked about 20 feet to the kitchen (from where my office is located, off to the side of the far end of the family room), and the sound was louder. Sounded like it could be water drops, like you might hear from a leaking roof.
I checked the cabinet under the kitchen sink, and everything was dry.
So I went down to the basement, walked over to where I would be roughly below the sink, and one of the copper pipes was leaking. The water was dripping onto a plastic tarp on the floor, making a ‘tap, tap, tap’ sound.
I heard that from upstairs (so one floor vertical) and 20+ feet away, separated by walls and floor.
It’s the background noise of the PC fan that grates on me, keeping the CPU and other heat generators cool. It’s the same with every PC I have ever owned.
Some are worse than others, cheap fans are loudest, so when you build one yourself (or have one custom built), you can choose the quietest fans, and that works for a while, until fans get old and heat sources get old and get hotter, which means old fans need to run harder, and eventually you’re back to leafblower sound mode.
There is no fan in the world as quiet as no fan at all.

Unfortunately I can’t use a laptop, I’m running 3 monitors, which also limits the type of motherboard I can use, because it has to support 3 monitors, and most don’t.
I needed 3 monitors when I was working on a Corvette project years ago, adding reference data to the GM 1967 Corvette Assembly Manual (pdf) and then transferring (copying and pasting) that data to the other 1963-1966 Corvette Assembly Manuals on the appropriate pages.
Somebody smuggled the original Corvette Assembly Manuals out of GM back in the 1970s, and they’ve been reprinted and available ever since. Which is a HUGE benefit to all the people who restore, rebuild, maintain and drive these old cars.
Lots of other cars don’t have any surviving original factory Assembly Manuals, but people knew even back then that the classic 1960s Corvettes were going to be around for a long time, and the factory Assembly Manuals are a goldmine of important information 😁
Each Assembly Manual (for model years 1963-1967, all the same body style as the 1963 split-window Corvette) is about 400 pages with drawn diagrams and lists of GM part numbers and part names on each page.
But the order of the pages varies from year to year, because the cars changed in various ways from year to year (e.g., disc brakes were first available in 1965).
I could open two Assembly Manuals per 20″ monitor and they would be almost full size (so usable, large enough that I could read everything), so all 5 Assembly Manuals could be open and usable at the same time with 3 monitors.
So with all 5 Assembly Manuals open and visible, I could copy and paste stuff from one Assembly Manual to the next without minimizing and maximizing each different Assembly Manual pdf, every time I copied data from one pdf and pasted to the others.
The project took over a year, and by the time I was done, I was used to having 3 monitors, and all the screen space that comes with it.

If I understand correctly, if it does not support ‘extend screen display’, that means the mouse cursor cannot travel from one monitor screen to the next.
So any monitor connected by this device would be useful strictly as a ‘display’, but I would not be able to actively use it, i.e., not able to click on anything shown on the monitor, because the mouse cursor could not travel from the main monitor to the adjacent monitor.
Linux may work for you as far as monitors, but if you need specific applications, including browsers, that work a very particular way which you have *proven* on Windows, then you would have to prove it on Linux.

As long as there is a graphic interface, I should be able to manage.
It’s the ‘Command Line’ stuff that I don’t know how to do, and that’s the kind of thing where if I do the wrong thing, it messes something up, and I have no understanding of the system to figure out and undo whatever I’ve done wrong.
With the graphic interface, I can only do “approved” changes, which presumably can be undone using the same graphic interface.
Yes, GUIs generally package things in a somewhat safe fashion, and the UBUNTU and GNOME GUIs are fairly well-established.
As opposed to, say, the KALI GUI….
One of the fanless PC builds that I’m looking at offers Ubuntu 24.04 LTS as one of the operating system choices.
Since it’s free (AFAIK), I suppose they should be able to offer any of the Linux variants, but that’s the one shown on their website.
It’s a good choice. If I were loading it for you, I’d probably choose Mint 22.2 which is almost the same, but slightly friendlier.
I will keep that in mind and ask, if I end up ordering it.
It’s always a challenge ordering a new PC, trying to future proof it as much as possible while trying to balance price vs. the latest / best technology.
And then I’m further constrained by the 3 monitor requirement and the fanless aspect.
At some point, it becomes a case of just trying to solve a problem, and what is commercially available that solves the problem best.
And then tweaking a few of the options, like extra memory and SSD storage.

How would I know?
I spend long hours in front of a computer screen, and the sound of the fan inside the computer, even if it’s faint, eventually becomes distracting.
After 10 or 15 hours of the equivalent of low volume background white noise, I’ve had enough.
A lot of times I don’t even notice how much it’s bothering me, until I turn the computer off.
Then the sudden silence is like a wave of relief.
The only analogy that comes to me at the moment is if you are in a restaurant in Florida or some other hot place, the air conditioning is usually cranked up, so it’s chilly inside.
You’re there for a couple hours. You don’t even realize how cold you have become.
Then you walk outside, and you’re surprised by the sudden blast of heat and humidity.
Most people run for their cars to turn the air conditioning right back on.
But not me, I love the blast of heat and humidity, thawing my bones, after being frozen inside a restaurant the pervious couple hours 😂
I’m a warm-weather person. I’ll take Florida heat and humidity any day, over cold weather.

These frickin’ updates are taking forever…..one stopped at midnight local time, so I set the computer to be in Hawaii. One froze for an hour in Hawaii, so I’m now parked on the International Date Line. I’ve been to the International Date Line, in Fiji, so it’s plausible that I’d have a computer there.

Times were M$ used something on the order of BitTorrent to “help” with updates… you might be getting chunks of files from your neighbors rather than Micro$haft’s servers… not sure if they still do that, but I always set my options to “cost limited internet” to keep M$ from pulling (or pushing) that crap….. and the security risk(s) that presents…
I’m trying to get all the Win10 updates installed before the official cutoff at 10/15 at 12:01 AM. That’s why I’ve got this laptop believing that it’s on the International Date Line. It already knows it’s after midnight in Hawaii.
If I walked away, I wouldn’t get the last couple of updates and I might not get offered the year extension.
That said, my patience is not infinite…
It just turned 11:00PM on the dateline, and it’s “searching for updates”.
It is now past midnight on the dateline, there’s no place on earth where it is still October 14.
And Windows Update is still sitting there, useless.
So, I got up, and Windows Update was asking for a reboot. I let it reboot, and it proceeded to update and reboot and update and reboot for three and a half hours.
And then it let me sign up for the extra year.
SUCCESS!!!
And then I brought it back to Pacific Time from Fiji.
I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate Windows Update.
I’ve got two more. One says “Pending Install”, and the other says “Installing – 0%”. I’ve got less than 15 minutes and neither has moved for over 10 minutes. If it doesn’t offer to extend W10 EOL on this laptop, I will be happy and relieved to scrub this piece of shit and install a real operating system.

I did the extended thing a couple of weeks ago, but it was my understanding it was just security patches, not full updates to Windows 10.
My laptop will support 11, I’m just not ready for the hassle yet.
I’ve found Win 11 not nearly as hard to get used to as I thought. The differences you’ll notice are mostly cosmetic. They moved the items to the taskbar to the center, but there is a setting that can move it back to the left. And the Start menu is a little bit different, but you can configure it how you want. Once I did that and moved out the Microsoft junk they put on the task bar and the Start menu, it feels very similar to Windows 10. I got used to it in about 3 hours.

Yeah, I make sure OneDrive is always off. I hate it, too, it just causes confusion and data loss if you’re not careful.

I’m surprised it hasn’t been rejected outright by 99% of the user base, but I’m sure that’s because most users are unaware of the spy system they’ve innocently stumbled into.
I never turn on the AI, and all the spy permissions they ask for I said no. If you check back, Win 10 had many of the same issues (but no AI).
My (limited) understanding, from the video, is that the TPM chip is part of the spy package, a piece of hardware that is part of the new “Windows 11 compatible” PCs.

India-origin strategist charged with keeping secret US defence files
Ashley Tellis, an Indian-origin foreign policy expert on US and South Asian affairs, was arrested over the weekend after more than a thousand pages of US top secret documents were allegedly found at his home.
He has been charged with the unlawful retention of national defence information, the US Justice Department said on Tuesday.
Mr Tellis, 64, grew up in Mumbai city before moving to the US to study. He has worked closely with the US government for years and is a senior adviser in the State Department.
He has not commented on the charges. His lawyer Deborah Curtis told Associated Press that “we look forward to the hearing, where we’ll be able to present evidence”.
“The charges as alleged in this case represent a grave risk to the safety and security of our citizens,” the DoJ statement quoted Lindsey Halligan, US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, as saying.
If convicted, Mr Tellis can face a maximum prison term of 10 years and up to a $250,000 fine, the statement added.
Mr Tellis has held many important roles in the US government.
He served on the National Security Council of former President George W Bush and is currently a contractor with the Office of Net Assessment at the Department of Defense, renamed the Department of War by the Trump administration.
His influential position gave him top-secret clearance and allowed him to access sensitive information, according to court documents accessed by Reuters news agency.
The agency reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) affidavit accompanying the charge document cites several incidents over the past two months where Mr Tellis allegedly entered the State and Defence buildings and was seen printing classified documents, including about US military aircraft capabilities.
Surveillance video reportedly captured him leaving the buildings with a briefcase or a bag.
The FBI also said that Mr Tellis met Chinese government officials many times in recent years. The affidavit noted one such meeting in September 2022 at a restaurant in Fairfax, Virginia, where Mr Tellis is said to have arrived with a manila envelope but did not appear to have it when he left.
The affidavit also stated that a search of Mr Tellis’ residence in Vienna, Virginia, on Saturday uncovered more than 1,000 pages of classified documents with “top secret” and “secret” markings on it.
In the past, Mr Tellis has commented extensively on US-India-China relations in the Indian and international press. He is the Tata Chair for Strategic Affairs at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
Earlier this month, he was interviewed by prominent Indian journalist Karan Thapar, during which he spoke about Trump’s steep tariffs on India and Delhi’s strategic importance to Washington.

The nation’s largest teachers’ union sent a mass email to its 3 million members containing a map that erased the state of Israel and labeled the area “Palestine,” along with materials supporting Hamas’ barbaric Oct. 7 attacks.
The materials originally included reading materials from the Palestinian Youth Movement, which has hosted speakers from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – which the State Department designates as a foreign terrorist organization.
The materials were first exposed by Stop Antisemitism, an organization dedicated to combating antisemitism and anti-Israel extremism. Another website included in the course materials was Palestine Remembered. The website includes pages on the assertion that European Jews are descended from converts from the Khazar kingdom, in an effort to promote the idea the Jews were not from Israel. The idea is a debunked conspiracy theory.

Just The News: “House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik on Tuesday urged Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to open a probe into funding for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to ensure it is not funded by Hamas or other terrorist organizations.
Stefanik and Senate Republican Conference Chair Tom Cotton urged the investigation in a joint letter, accusing CAIR ‘s executive director of previously leading the Islamic Association for Palestine, which they claimed authorities have identified as a propaganda front for Hamas.
The Republicans also claimed CAIR’s leadership attended a Philadelphia meeting of the Muslim Brotherhood Palestine Committee in 1993 where members discussed supporting Hamas, despite its label as a foreign terrorist organization.
“These foundational connections, coupled with CAIR’s conduct following the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks, merit renewed scrutiny,” the lawmakers wrote. “CAIR has focused its efforts on supporting anti-Israel campus protests. While peaceful protest is protected, many of these demonstrations have led to incidents of antisemitic harassment and violence.”
The lawmakers also claimed that the organization has supported anti-Israel protest leaders and recently settled a lawsuit that would have forced it to reveal its funding sources.
“This pattern of historic ties to Hamas, recent public rhetoric aligned with Hamas narratives, and support for radical activism, raises serious questions about whether CAIR’s support for Hamas amounts to material support for terrorism,” the pair noted.
“We urge the department to immediately investigate whether CAIR maintains financial links to Hamas that constitute violation of U.S. sanctions on Hamas and ensure that none of its assets are being used to advance the objectives of Hamas,” they added.”

Thank you Janice, one of my absolute favorite verses, particularly the aspect of “transformed by the renewing of your mind”. This sanctification is a core component of following Christ.
I made a comment the other day about how Christians should not be listening to non-Christians in regards to ethics, opinions, values, and morality. The poor discernment of Christians over the last sixty years, particularly looking to non-Christian Hollywood and the media for values, is an embarrassment for the Church. The Bible has countless warnings on this, regarding being in, but not of, this world.
One commenter (likely a non-Christian) gave me grief about it being “intolerant”. Yes, it is intolerant and rightly so. Although it is unfashionable to say it, the Bible commands us to *hate* sin. The translation is literally the word hate, not frown on, be perturbed by, air disproval, and particularly not tolerate. But *hate* sin. Wow.
When we follow Christ, this “renewing of your mind” changes every aspect of how one views the world. It is inevitable as one reads the Bible and follows the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we think differently. It causes one to automatically recoil at things of an ugly spiritual nature. There’s an unsettling sensation when confronted by sin and people pushing sinful activities. It’s a gift from God to protect us.
So let the Holy Spirit renew your mind and as Paul tells us “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:7)
Edit: A follow up comment as I think more about this. “Tolerance” is a perfect example of a supposed virtue entirely constructed by non-Christian society, yet many in the Church blindly accepted. The Bible never calls tolerance a virtue, and is extremely intolerant in many places. The “virtue” of tolerance was created to excuse sin and reduce Christian influence by secular, non-Christian media influences.
Once the renewing of your mind occurs you will never see this stuff the same way.

The teens have been ordered not to contact each other or spend any time in DC, unless for school, job or family obligations.
The judge in the Democrat-run city said that the purpose of juvenile court was to rehabilitate, not punish offenders.
Coristine, who rose to national prominence for his leadership of Elon Musk’s DOGE team and his high school nickname, was left bloody, badly beaten and fearing he was concussed after the attempted carjacking.

We had a 10 year old little monster on our street. I did not even know him. However he shown a flashlight in my eyes as I was trying to turn into my driveway lined with concrete walls. I yelled at him so he then busted all the windows in the basement… in the winter… in NH. (30 below)
I caught him and called the cops. Daddy was a lawyer and stood there saying how he was really a good boy. The cops did nothing. The kid grinned and laughed at me.
Well I was not the only victim. WE had a card game while the local teens took that nasty brat and buried him head first into the freshly plowed snow bank up to his waist.
No more problems after that.
Dad was a typical scumbag. I had college kids renting across from me where 1 a mom was a very high powered lawyer and he n his friends were real a holes. Never an opportunity to beer from across the dt. Do we called the police every weekend on the parties. Mom finally got nad bc the cops weren’t going to let him off anymore. He shut up, graduated and moved.
I think the ‘juvies’ should be outed via anonymous graffiti.

The problem with super light sentences is the victims feel abused. If that keeps up, you end up with vigilante justice like I described below.

A federal judge on Wednesday blocked the Trump administration, for now, from firing federal workers during the ongoing government shutdown.
The order came five days after the administration issued reduction-in-force notifications to more than 4,000 federal workers.
“The activities that are being undertaken here are contrary to the laws,” San Francisco U.S. District Court Judge Susan Yvonne Illston told lawyers for the administration on Wednesday at a hearing where she issued the temporary restraining order.
“You can’t do this in a nation of laws,” Illston said, according to NBC News. “And we have laws here, and the things that are being articulated here are not within the law.”
The judge cited comments by President Donald Trump and White House Budget Director Russell Vought that have indicated the workers were being laid off explicitly to target programs favored by Democrats.
Two unions representing tens of thousands of federal workers had asked Illston to block the RIFs.
The Trump administration had warned that it would lay off workers during the shutdown, and President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that the cuts were aimed at “Democrat agencies” or initiatives.
Shortly before Illston issued her order blocking layoffs, White House Budget Director Russell Vought, during an interview on “The Charlie Kirk Show,” said that he expected that “north of 10,000″ federal jobs would be cut because of their shutdown.
Illston said that the Trump administration took “advantage of the lapse in government spending and government functioning to assume that all bets are off, the laws don’t apply to them anymore, and they can impose the structures that they like on the government situation that they don’t like,” according to NBC.
The judge also said that she believed the unions would be able to prove that the Trump administration’s actions were illegal and “arbitrary and capricious.”
Illston’s order came on the 15th day of the government shutdown, and shortly before a stopgap funding bill that would end the shutdown failed in the Senate for the ninth time.
Democracy Forward, an advocacy group representing the unions in court, praised the judge’s order.
“The president seems to think his government shutdown is distracting people from the harmful and lawlessness actions of his administration, but the American people are holding him accountable, including in the courts,” said Skye Perryman, CEO of Democracy Forward.
“The statements today by the court make clear that the President’s targeting of federal workers — a move straight out of Project 2025′s playbook — is unlawful,” Perryman said.
″Our civil servants do the work of the people, and playing games with their livelihoods is cruel and unlawful and a threat to everyone in our nation.”

We are loaded with great reserves. Industrialists always go with the lowest price from dependable suppliers of commodities. That’s when they took the path of least resistance due to crushing EPA restrictions on domestic producers.
So the tariffs kick up the price they pay for buying from Chyna. That encourages domestic and friendly ally supply to increase.
I brought this up awhile back in a discussion on lithium reserves as example. When domestic supply may be insufficient or too expensive we will have Greenland and Argentina connected with us to shore it up.

I think this is what she really means:

It’s fascinating to watch women get arrested on yootoob videos. I’ve seen dozens of videos, maybe hundreds, and it’s nearly always the same.
Like the video of the drunk and disorderly female attorney general, the “But I’m an A.G.! I’m an A.G.!” lady and her mouthy sidekick who refused to leave the bar or restaurant, that was making the rounds a month or so ago.
It’s like watching a child try to get her way, or try to argue her way out of punishment. The videos show the same behavior, over and over. Excuse after excuse, then begging and pleading, then hostility, then violent outbursts, with plenty of threats thrown in.
I’ve never threatened a police officer in my life 🤣
It has never once even occurred to me.
But I see women do it all the time, like it’s nothing.
It’s clearly a learned behavior, to the point that it has become an automatic response, like a janitor trying every key on their giant key chain, trying to open the lock. It’s a manipulation strategy, something they’ve been doing their whole lives, because it works.
Like the stereotype of a woman crying to get out of a speeding ticket, only amplified.
It works in school, at the office, at the grocery store, at the park, at the gym, at the bars, it works everywhere — except with law enforcement.
And when it doesn’t work with law enforcement, when they (effectively) get told “No”, they lose their minds 😂
They simply cannot accept that they can’t get their way, not by complaining, not by verbal abuse, not by crying, not by excuse-making, not by blame-shifting. There is nothing they can say or do to get out of whatever punishment is coming.
Often they’ll start screaming, banging their heads against the patrol car door window, kicking the inside of the door or the steel mesh separating the front seat from the back seat, etc.
It’s like watching a demon that has finally been captured, and it has no idea what to do, because none of its usual tricks have any power over the police officer.
Then they show up in court, and it gets pled down to misdemeanor nothing, given a ‘stern warning’ not to do it again, and let go.
So there are never any real consequences.
And with no real consequences comes no change in behavior.
Not all women. The most I have done is told the officer I would give him $100 if he could get my VW diesel pk-up to do 70 mph going up a mountain road. Ain’t gonna happen. It is 0 to 60 in 5 minutes… IF you are going down hill. Other wise the max speed is 35 mph going up hill… Maybe.
Yes, I know very well it’s certainly not all women.
The ones who make it all the way to arrest, and get to star in their own personal version of Law & Order, are likely at one end of the bell curve.
It just seems like the younger generations are starting to congregate at that end of the bell curve 😁
