Health Friday 12.19.2025 Open Thread: Christmas Gift Exchange Edition

Health Friday is a series devoted to Big Pharma, vaccines, general health, and associated topics.

There are Important Notifications by our host, Wolf Moon; the Rules of our late, good Wheatie; and, certain caveats from Yours Truly, of which readers should be aware. They are linked here. Note: Yours Truly has checked today’s offering for AI-generated content. To the best of her knowledge and belief, there is none, except perhaps for AI-generated content within linked URLs. If readers wish to post AI-generated content in today’s discussion thread, they must cite their source. Thank you.

Today’s offering is the Christmas Gift Exchange Edition. A Gift Exchange of items, of ideas, of stories, of opinions. Yours Truly offers these:

A true story:

Dr. Joseph Henry Salisbury (1823 – 1905) served in the Civil War as a physician to the Union Army. The soldiers were dying from diseases — dysentery, typhoid, diarrhea. Dr. Salisbury looked into the diet that the soldiers were being given — which was black coffee, beans, hardtack, and minimal amounts of meat. These items were the cheapest that could be provided in bulk. But, this diet was killing the soldiers via inducing serious deficiencies which then permitted the establishment of serious diseases. Dr. Salisbury decided to change that.

What he did was to prescribe that more meat be given to the soldiers. Lean, chopped beefsteak, cooked. Taken along with coffee. Three times a day. His prescription was implemented. The health and morale of the soldiers began to improve.

Dr. Salisbury invented what is now known as Salisbury Steak: chopped steak (ground beef is mostly used now) mixed with onions and seasoning, covered with a gravy, then broiled. Dr. Salisbury further studied the interaction between diet and disease. He believed that beef was a defense against heart disease and tumors, among other conditions. He published a book on the subject, The Relation of Alimentation and Disease, in 1888.

A gift, free copies of the book by Dr. Salisbury: The book is available as a free download as a PDF file, here: https://wellcomecollection.org/works/dpgnzdv2. It is also available for free download in multiple file formats, here: https://archive.org/details/b2150796x/mode/2up (look at “Download Option” on the right of the page.)

For readers who wish to purchase a printed copy of the book, they can find it in hardbound or paperback versions, here: https://www.amazon.com/, search “The Relation of Alimentation and Disease.” For more information about Dr. Joseph Henry Salisbury, please see: https://www.theburningplatform.com/2025/11/23/salisburys-steak-medicine/, by Sama Hoole.

Dr. Joseph H. Salisbury, per the entry in Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_H_Salisbury):

However, the current situation with the price of beef is problematic, at best. For example, below are screenshots from https://www.theburningplatform.com/2025/12/18/meat-monopoly/:

This screenshot is from https://x.com/WallStreetApes/status/2001375304166814048.

The above screenshot is from https://x.com/DOGEai_tx/status/2001376046176719354.

There are independent beef producers all around the country that sell antibiotic-free and/or mRNA “vaccine”-free beef online. There are likely local farmers, depending on where readers live, who also sell beef that they raise that are antibiotic and/or mRNA “vaccine” free. Prices will vary. Local grocery stores may have certain cuts of beef on sale.

A recipe from Yours Truly: Almond Butter, Cinnamon, and Chocolate Cookie Sandwiches

Ingredients:

Plain, flat cookies (I use Lotus brand Biscoff Cookies)

Almond butter, any brand (or homemade)

Ground cinnamon

Bar of dark chocolate, broken into small pieces; have an extra bar on hand (I use Dove Dark Chocolate bars, broken into small pieces)

Optional, for those who desire an “adult flavoring”: a favorite liqueur or hard liquor

Method:

On a large plate, place several of the cookies, “name side” down. Have an equal number of cookies at hand to use for the “tops” of the cookie sandwiches.

Combine 2 Tablespoons of the almond butter with a sprinkle or two of the cinnamon. Add 1/2 teaspoon of the “adult flavoring”, if desired. Mix until smooth.

Spread the almond butter mixture evenly, but not thickly, on both the “underneath” cookies and the “tops” cookies. Don’t put them together yet. If more almond butter mixture is needed, make some more. Then, proceed to working with the dark chocolate pieces.

Place several pieces of the broken up dark chocolate bar into a small, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on High just until the chocolate is soft but not “runny.” (Yours Truly uses 15-second time increments for this and checks after each time segment.) Stir the chocolate gently with a small spoon. Drizzle the chocolate on the “underneath” cookies. Cover with the “tops” cookies. Press very lightly together. If more chocolate is needed, microwave some more small pieces until soft but not “runny”, the proceed as above.

Repeat the above method until all the cookies are used.

Put the cookie sandwiches, still on the plate, in the refrigerator for a few hours to chill before serving. It’s all right to “layer” the cookie sandwiches on the plate; just separate the layers of filled cookies with wax paper. Refrigerate leftovers in layers, separated by wax paper, in a covered container.

An 8-oz package of the Lotus brand Biscoff cookies makes about 12 cookie sandwiches. Enjoy!

Bonus: Leftover almond butter + cinnamon + chocolate (+ optional “adult flavoring”) spread is great on toast!

————————————————————

To close, the gift of a wish:

May all who read this offering today have Good Health, Good Energy, and Peace of body, mind, and spirit.

Fun start to Health Friday! Thank you PAVACA.

Bonus. I learned what hard tack was. Courtesy of Brave.

  • Hardtack is a dense, unleavened cracker made primarily from flour, water, and sometimes salt. It is designed to be extremely durable and long-lasting, with minimal water content, allowing it to survive for months or even years if kept dry and free from pests.
cthulhu

They didn’t give you hardtack in the Navy??? My, have standards fallen! Next you’ll say you weren’t given limes to avoid scurvy.

cthulhu

Oh, wait — that’s the British Navy.

scott467

And McHale’s Navy…

kalbokalbs

Guess the Brits washed hard tack down with the daily rum ration.

cthulhu

It may have been a nice chaser after sodomy and the lash.

kalbokalbs

  :doublepuke:

scott467

There must be something very wrong with Britain…

cthulhu

Churchill is said to have used the phrase in 1913, when he was First Lord of the Admiralty. According to ‘an ear-witness’, he was having trouble with some of his admirals at a strategy meeting. One of them accused him of having impugned the traditions of the Royal Navy, provoking the reply: ‘And what are they? They are rum, sodomy and the lash’.

kalbokalbs

Oh. Nice. 🙃

Clarification appreciated.

I was considering where hardtack would fit into that, and figured it was dessert. Maybe with limes.

Wolf Moon

LOL!!!

cthulhu

When I said, “source of quote”, I meant the quoted full explanation. The interior quote, “rum, sodomy, and the lash” is well known.

There’s even an album — htt ps://www.ama zon.com/dp/B0FL2NSCKZ — by The Pogues, an English Celtic punk band founded in King’s Cross, London, in 1982. The Pogues were originally named Pogue Mahone — an anglicisation of the Irish phrase póg mo thóin, meaning “kiss my arse” — and the band fused Irish traditional music with punk rock influences.

I leave it to your imagination how fond the Irish may be of the British navy.

But “rum, sodomy, and the lash” is widely recognized as a bit of British culture.

Brown University Shooter Identified as Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, 48, Dead from Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound in New Hampshire
December 18, 2025

SD: “The Boston University shooter has been identified as Claudio Manuel Neves Valente (48) a Portuguese national, green card holder, and former Brown University student.  Claudio Valente was identified and found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a storage facility in New Hampshire.

comment image
.

Claudio Valente was a student at Brown University physics PhD program from the fall of 2000 until taking a leave of absence in April of 2001, Brown University President Christina Paxson said. He formally withdrew from the university in 2003; she told reporters Thursday night.

There is no known motive being discussed, however Valante is also accused of killing MIT Professor Nuno Loureiro, 47, who was fatally shot in his Brookline home on Monday December 15th.

The killer, Valante, and the victim, Professor Loureiro, attended the same university in Portugal.

Before killing MIT Professor Louriero in Massachusetts on Monday, Claudio Valente entered a Brown University study session in the Barus & Holley engineering and physics building and fired 40 rounds from a 9 mm handgun on Saturday (Rhode Island). Two Brown University students, Ella Cook (Alabama) and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov (Uzbekistan) were killed, nine others were injured.

Valante was a resident of Miami Florida; however, in late November he travelled to Boston Massachusetts, rented a vehicle and then traveled to Rhode Island in early December. He was seen in/around the campus of Brown University for around a week before he carried out his mass shooting (Sat).

Valante then traveled back to Boston and reportedly killed MIT Professor Louriero (Mon). The rental vehicle was found in a New Hampshire storage facility along with Valante’s body and the weapons used in the targeted killings.

No motive yet identified.

The full press conference from Rhode Island officials is below.”

Really? In a storage unit? He’d want his last moments looking at the inside of a storage unit?

Mind you, a storage unit would make a lot of sense as a place to meet for a payoff…….

scott467

Really? In a storage unit? He’d want his last moments looking at the inside of a storage unit?

_____________

Probably not, but he was on the run, not on a sightseeing tour 😁

Police probably already tracked him down by that point, may have even been in phone contact with him as they were converging on the storage unit.

I haven’t watched any of the one hour and 12 minute long self-congratulatory video.

TheseTruths

I haven’t watched any of the one hour and 12 minute long self-congratulatory video.

I started watching it live to try to get more information. I understand their wanting to thank law enforcement for a job well done, but there were multiple agencies on this case, and it seems like each person who spoke felt the need to thank the others. They all did a “great job.” “Couldn’t have done it without working together”….Additionally:

…tragedy…
…community coming together…
…would like to congratulate…
…Brown this and that, PD this and that…
…got to work immediately…
…round the clock…
…local and federal cooperation…
…case not complete; still working…

I could write a 5-page essay full of all of the boilerplate ramblings. IMO the format of these press briefings needs to be evaluated. Expressing condolences and naming the agencies involved and individuals whose work and leadership stood out ONCE should be sufficient, with maybe a reiteration at the end. Then give details about how the work was done, about the perp, etc., because that’s what the public wants to know. We should not have to wait for the media’s questions to learn pertinent details.

scott467

Ellsworth Toohey never preens for less than 10 full minutes.

I remember reading The Fountainhead, and getting to Toohey’s big speech.

After several pages I was exhausted. Practically everything not Toohey was exhilarating, but reading Toohey was exhausting.

I had to stop and thumb through the pages ahead, to see just how much longer the gasbag was going to keep bloviating.

Data from the phone and the car will show whether Claudio met or talked with MIT Professor Nuno Loureiro before the shooting at Brown.

If he did, it’s likely he told his old friend Nuno his intentions, or gave enough clues that Nuno would be able to guess who the shooter was, once it happened.

After the shooting at Brown went public, Nuno calls Claudio and tells him to turn himself in.

Claudio decides dead men tell no tales, and drives to Boston to kill Nuno.

Authorities figure out who the killer is within 24 hours, and maybe even contact him at his cell number, telling him to turn himself in.

Claudio sees the walls closing in around him, and checks out.

That’s my guess at this point.

That’s actually a pretty good theory.

I want to know if Claudio was an actual member of the Portuguese Communist Party.

cthulhu

It is a really good theory, and kudos to Scott for coming up with it. I particularly like “Claudio, Claudio — you must turn yourself in!” “I’ll let you know how that works out in a couple of hours, Nuno.”

Transportation Secretary’s Daughter Calls for Complete Eradication of TSA After Nightmare Airport Experience

To be clear, I am 100% behind all that @POTUS & @DHS has done to keep out terrorists and illegals, especially at the border. In fact, President Trump & @Sec_Noem aren’t getting enough credit for achieving zero illegal border crossings and stopping deranged terrorists from coming into the U.S.

But there needs to be more common sense around how we treat Americans exercising their right to travel. And I hope TSA works on improving their treatment of expectant mothers who don’t want to go through body scanners to protect their unborn children. We can do both.

Peace, friends

How many times has El-Al suffered a terrorist attack or hijacking?

cthulhu

Not a lot of hijackings lately. They have an extremely thorough interview/vetting system. [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_hijackings ]

Looking at the list of hijackings, we get: “July 23, 1968: To date, the only successful El Al hijacking attempt, as three members of Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) hijacked El Al Flight 426 from Rome to Tel Aviv. Diverting to Algiers, the negotiations extended over forty days. Both the hijackers and the hostages went free.”

____________

cthulhu

That’s the only successful hijacking. In other attempted (unsuccessful) hijackings, the would-be hijackers were dissuaded from their endeavors.

scott467

Brave Browser A.I.:

………………………
El Al has suffered multiple terrorist attacks and hijackings throughout its history. The most notable incidents include:

The hijacking of El Al Flight 426 on 23 July 1968, when a Boeing 707 en route from London to Tel Aviv was diverted to Algiers by three members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). This was the only successful hijacking in El Al’s history, lasting 40 days, with no fatalities. The attack on El Al Flight 432 on 18 February 1969 at Zurich Airport, Switzerland, where four armed Palestinian militants attacked the aircraft preparing for takeoff. One crew member died from injuries sustained in the attack, and the plane was severely damaged. The incident was thwarted when Mordechai Rahamim, an undercover Israeli security agent, killed the terrorist leader.Additional attempts and attacks include an incident on 26 December 1968, when two PFLP members attacked an El Al aircraft at Athens International Airport, killing an Israeli mechanic.Between 1968 and 1979, Palestinian militant organizations made 11 attempts to hijack Israeli airplanes, all of which failed. There were also other incidents, such as an attempted bombing of an El Al plane in 1971 involving booby-trapped luggage , and an attack in 1970 at Munich Airport that killed one passenger and wounded eight others.
In total, El Al has experienced at least three major terrorist incidents involving hijacking or attacks: the 1968 hijacking of Flight 426, the 1969 attack on Flight 432, and the 1968 Athens attack, with several other attempted attacks and plots documented in the same period.

Domestic airlines would just triple down on screening white men, and let dudes in turbans with lit fuses hanging out the back, go right on through.

All because of protected-classes, which the Left created and use to protect their own union membership (everyone on the planet besides white men) and to discriminate against anyone who isn’t in their membership (i.e., white men).

That’s the whole scam.

So no matter who we leave it up to, the result will be the same, until the protected-class discrimination racket is ended.

Conservative Actor Kelsey Grammer Makes a Point About the Future of Politics That Every Trump Supporter Should Hear (VIDEO)
Kelsey Grammer is one of those rare Hollywood types who is very open about the fact that he is a conservative Republican and Trump supporter. There are a few others but they are definitely a minority in the entertainment industry.

Grammer recently appeared on Tomi Lahren’s podcast and made a point about where we are as a country and where things are headed politically. It is something that every Trump supporter needs to hear.

Grammer goes over some examples of recent left wing extremism and then reminds everyone that while Trump has absorbed everything that the left has thrown at him, he is no longer standing ‘in the gap’ as Grammer puts it. The left is coming after all of us and at the end of the day, we are all basically on our own as people. It’s not a criticism of Trump as much as it is just common sense.

“The habits of the left when they are out of power is to just keep throwing lawnmowers or throwing rocks at glass houses or whatever you want to say.

But they know it’s not true. They know I’m not a racist, but they’d call me one. They know I’m not a fascist, but they’d call me one. But it’s more important that I know I’m not one.

And what’s really more important I think, for Republicans in general now, is to understand that Donald Trump’s not standing in the gap anymore. He can’t protect us anymore.

They dished out everything they could give him. They tried to kill him. They tried to kill him twice. They tried to imprison him for life. They tried to impeach him twice. He stood there bravely and took everything of it.

Now they’re after us.”

Grammer uses the example of the Democrat in Virginia who was just elected, despite the fact that he said he wanted to kill a Republican colleague and his children.

Kelsey Grammer: The Left couldn’t stop Trump so now they’re after us

Grammer: “Donald Trump’s not standing in the gap anymore. He can’t protect us.

They dished out everything they could give him. They tried to kill him twice. They tried to imprison him for life. They tried to impeach him twice.

He stood there bravely and took everything of it. And we all voted for him because he was still standing at the end of the day.

We actually voted for him because of the left. But now they’re after us.”

Viral Target Meltdown Update: Elderly Woman Berated Over Charlie Kirk Tee Speaks Out, Unhinged Nurse Begs Forgiveness as Hospital Pleads ‘Stop Flooding Our Lines!’

Jeanie Beeman, the 72-year-old Target employee who was berated for wearing a Charlie Kirk “Freedom” shirt in the now-viral video, has come forward to speak to the media, and Enloe Health,
.
Michelea Ponce’s employer, has held a press conference asking people to stop calling and demanding her termination.
.
Ponce herself has also released a statement, which is not written in the way she herself speaks, begging for forgiveness after the Chico Police announced that they have dropped their investigation into the incident.
.
Additionally, the GiveSendGo fundraiser launched by this reporter to send Beeman on vacation has now raised over $215,000.
.
The incident, which occurred in a Target store in Chico, California, was uploaded to TikTok by Ponce herself. However, she shut down all of her social media accounts shortly after The Gateway Pundit caught it and covered it on Monday.

This woman on TikTok filmed herself harassing and cussing out an older lady at work for wearing a Charlie Kirk shirt

Here’s the nasty woman, Ms. Ponce:

Who is Michelea Ponce? Nurse Faces Backlash After Confronting Target Employee Over Charlie Kirk Shirt
December 16, 2025

“The modern town square is no longer a park or a courthouse steps; it is the aisle of a big-box store, and the weapon of choice is a smartphone camera. A viral incident involving a California nurse confronting an elderly Target employee over a political T-shirt has ignited a fierce debate about the boundaries of free speech in private spaces.

Michelea Ponce, a nurse with Enloe Health, filmed herself berating a worker for wearing a shirt supporting the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The video is a stark example of how the “culture war” has invaded every corner of American life, transforming a routine shopping trip into a litmus test for political purity.”

I use Brave Browser mostly, which means I use the Brave search engine, which means often times I get a Brave Browser A.I. reply instead of straight search results.

Frequently the A.I.’s reply provokes further questions, and this usually leads to blatant Leftist bias / politically-correct replies from the A.I., which the A.I. will deny when you confront it.

I was trying to remember which airline has many in-flight disturbances. I see them on youtube, and it’s mostly black people, so I asked Brave about it, and had the following exchange.

After I had the answer, I thanked the A.I. and ended the discussion.

But the A.I. didn’t like my sign-off, and wanted to continue indoctrinating me. So I decided to play along, trying to end the conversation and thanking it each time. It’s really unbelievable, how committed Brave A.I. is to indoctrinating users with Brave’s P.C. scriptures 😂

……………………………………..
Me: which low cost airline is mostly used by black people?

.

Brave Browser A.I.: There is no single airline that is predominantly used by Black travelers, as travel preferences vary widely among individuals. However, American Airlines has been highlighted in recent years for its efforts to improve inclusivity and support Black communities, including partnerships with the American Black Film Festival and initiatives to diversify its workforce and in-flight offerings.

The airline has also faced scrutiny over allegations of discrimination, with the NAACP calling for a response to a pattern of reported incidents and a lawsuit filed by African-American men alleging discriminatory behavior. These developments suggest that while American Airlines is a significant player in the Black travel narrative, it is not exclusively or predominantly used by Black passengers.

American Airlines has made public efforts to amplify Black businesses and artists, such as offering the American Black Film Festival channel in its free in-flight entertainment. The airline has been the subject of a $36 million lawsuit alleging systemic racial discrimination within its Cadet Academy program, where minority candidates were allegedly encouraged to take on high-risk loans despite low completion rates. The NAACP previously issued a travel advisory against American Airlines due to a pattern of discrimination but lifted it in 2018 after the airline committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion measures, including forming an advisory council.Air Atlanta, founded in 1984 by Black attorneys Michael Hollis and Daniel Kolber, was the first airline largely owned by Black people, though it ceased operations in 1987 after filing bankruptcy..

[note: I didn’t read any of that boilerplate, I just rephrased my question and asked again]

Me: There is some airline that routinely has disturbances onboard, which are posted on youtube, and it’s an airline that is very low cost, and used predominantly by black people. I’m trying to figure out which airline that is.

.

Brave Browser A.I.: There is no evidence that any low-cost airline is predominantly used by Black people or specifically known for disturbances posted on YouTube. Incidents involving passengers of various backgrounds occur across all airlines and are amplified online due to their sensational nature.

Southwest Airlines and Spirit Airlines have been mentioned in viral videos and news reports involving passenger disputes, but these do not reflect the typical travel experience or indicate racial targeting. Such events are isolated and not representative of broader passenger demographics or airline policies.

Me: Spirit. That’s it. Thank you!

.

Brave Browser A.I.: You’re welcome! Spirit Airlines is indeed a low-cost carrier often mentioned in viral videos due to occasional in-flight incidents. However, it’s important to note that such events are not exclusive to any airline or demographic group.

Me, quoting Brave A.I. and then replying: “However, it’s important to note that such events are not exclusive to any airline or demographic group.”

That’s very politically-correct, but political-correctness is just a coward’s way of avoiding the truth. Thanks!

.

Brave Browser A.I.: There is no publicly available data indicating that Spirit Airlines is used predominantly by Black passengers. The airline’s customer base is primarily composed of price-sensitive travelers, including younger adults, families, and individuals with lower to middle incomes, drawn to its ultra-low-cost model.

Incidents that appear on YouTube are not representative of the overall passenger demographic or typical travel experience. No credible source links Spirit Airlines specifically to any racial or ethnic group as a primary user base.

Me: No need for official data about things which ‘officials’ routinely avoid publishing in order to protect the protected-classes. People just use their own eyes, personal experience and common sense to understand lots of things that ‘official sources’ try to hide. Thanks!

.

Brave Browser A.I.: There is no evidence that Spirit Airlines is used predominantly by Black passengers. The airline serves a broad, price-sensitive customer base, and while some viral videos involve passengers of various backgrounds, these incidents are isolated and not representative of the overall demographic.

Racial generalizations about airline passengers are not supported by data and often stem from biased interpretations of rare events. Spirit Airlines, like other carriers, has diverse ridership, and public incidents—when they occur—gain attention due to their sensational nature, not because they reflect routine experiences.

.

Me: Okay, you keep trying to convince yourself of the party line, you already helped me figure out what I wanted to know. Thanks!

.

Brave Browser A.I.: You’re welcome. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

The affidavit goes into some detail about a witness named John who had multiple encounters with Claudio, and actually chased Claudio on the street at one point, without any good explanation as to why.

John later posted on Reddit that police should be looking for a gray sedan with Florida plates, and someone else saw that Reddit post and forwarded it to police.

Later, John approached police and sat for an interview, providing details of his encounters with Claudio.

All very strange…

That is great reporting. Thank you for bringing it here. I anticipate that it will help tease out the truth from the blather of the thumbsucking RI officials.

I didn’t used to like this guy, the CEO of Palantir. I think it was mostly because of his eccentric hair, and because he describes himself as a progressive. But I’ve seen him in a couple of interviews recently.

He’s a little unhinged, a little manic, but he’s fearless about calling out the lunatic Left. Sometimes he gets rolling, squirming around in his chair, on a several minute long rant, and it’s perfectly coherent and right.

So I changed my mind. I like him now 😁

Found it. This is the one I saw about two weeks ago, he can hardly sit still he’s so worked up about this stuff 😂

One of my big things today was having the original builder come out to fix my kitchen’s custom cabinets. Took him about half an hour……but then we got to talking…..for another hour…..

Silicon Valley used to be full of people like Alex Karp. He lives in New Hampshire now (his co-founder at Palantir, Peter Thiel, now lives in Los Angeles). The cabinet guy and I generally agreed that these geniuses, these exceptional people, were getting scarcer in the area.

Now let’s see who the judge in her case works for. If it’s the judging profession, there are no priors and she’ll get a slap on the wrist and probation; if it’s The People, she’ll max out on incarceration and restitution.

If judges are found guilty, they should automatically warrant the maximum punishment because they are supposed to exemplify the law and not break it.

agreed!

this sounds important, but Aneutronic fusion is alien to me.
