We Shall Be Changed
The apostle Paul, in his letter to the believers in Philippi, expressed confidence in God’s continued work in their lives: “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:3–6).
Paul had seen firsthand the good work that God had begun in the Philippian believers. In Philippi, on Paul’s second missionary journey, he and his companions encountered Lydia and other women meeting by the riverside for prayer. As Paul preached, Lydia and her household believed and were baptized, and the Philippian church was born (Acts 16:11–15). Later, the Christians in Philippi conducted their house church in Lydia’s home. As the church grew, it became one of the strongest supporters of Paul’s ministry (Philippians 4:10–20).
Paul loved the Philippians deeply and desired to see them continue to grow in Christian maturity and abound in ever-increasing spiritual understanding: “I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God. so that they will be blameless until the day of Christ” (Philippians 1:9–11, NLT).
At the time of our salvation, God begins His work in us. We are made alive in Christ—regenerated, made new (2 Corinthians 5:17). Then, through an ongoing, lifelong process called sanctification, God finishes, perfects, and completes His work in us. Paul referred to the process when he said, “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6, NKJV). Spiritual growth ought to continue in steadfast believers until the day Jesus Christ returns (2 Peter 3:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:23).
A biblical definition of sanctification is “the Holy Spirit’s work of setting believers apart to be made holy or made like God.” Sanctification is a three-phase process. At the moment of salvation, Christians enter positional sanctification. Jesus’ work on the cross is a finished work—believers stand positionally sanctified as though they already are made holy before God, even though they are not yet completely holy in practice: “For by one sacrifice he [Jesus] has made perfect forever those who are being made holy” (Hebrews 10:14).
Progressive sanctification is phase two, in which God, who has begun a good work in us at salvation, continues to transform us into His image, saving us from the practice and power of sin. After the initial cleansing from sin, the committed Christian begins to undergo a daily process of spiritual renewal (Colossians 3:10). The Bible also calls this phase “the sanctifying work of the Spirit,” as the Holy Spirit is the chief agent working in the believer to produce the character of God and the fruit of holiness (1 Peter 1:2; cf. 1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; Galatians 5:22–23).
From the moment God begins His good work in us until the day of its completion, the Holy Spirit is chipping away, renovating our character, day by day reforming us into partakers of the holy nature of God. God does the work, but believers are also meant to be active in the process, yielding to the effort (Romans 6:13, 19; 12:1) and pressing on toward the upward call to holiness (Hebrews 12:14; Philippians 3:12–14).
God began a good work in us at salvation and then called us to live out the progressing development of being made into His image. The Christian walk is a pathway of ongoing growth. The journey brings us ever closer to God until His work in us is perfect and complete on “the day of Jesus Christ”—that is, the day of Christ’s return when we see Him (Colossians 3:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:23). Complete sanctification is the third phase, also known as glorification.
From the very beginning, throughout the continuation, and until the final stroke, God is working in us (Philippians 2:13). He is the Master Craftsman who never gives up on us (Ephesians 2:10; 2 Corinthians 1:21–22). The Lord’s salvation, His glorious redemption of His people, will reach its crowning culmination when Jesus Christ returns. Only then will God, who has begun a good work in you, put His finishing touch on you.
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed — in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

Thank you for this encouraging word, Carl. For some reason this teaching made me think of my dad near the end of his life. As my mom was entering decline for a few years intermittently, then precipitiously in 2025 until her death mid May Dad was being transformed into a caregiver, something he’d never really done in his then near 86 years. After Mom died he lived another almost 13 months alone except that last about 2 months when he lived in my brother’s home.
Dad had always been strong-minded, with a fairly forceful personality, & even a bit of a prideful (he admitted this) spirit. He was strong of body when younger & highly identified with his football playing years where football was his training & development in life, along with scouting, & later in youngish adulthood church life & the work of the Spirit predominated in honing his character.
Anyway, as he was slipping away from us mentally & physically he exhibited an incredibly sweet spirit, unlike anything I’d witnessed of him for my 60+ years. He became incredibly gentle, kind, quiet, & overarchingly joyful. It was a brokenly beautiful thing to witness.
The last time I saw my dad alive I was feeding him as I would a young child, spooning bites into his mouth & encouraging him to drink via a straw. It was surreal. Outwardly he was wasting away but his inward man was shining the Light of the Lord.

OK so I’m gathering some of my funeral prep poems in one place & went looking for the poem my husband wrote on the passing of my dad’s longtime hunting buddy & father of Debbie handling both of my parents’ funeral arrangements. Anyway, I found this note from my dad in the guestbook. I can almost hear this in Dad’s voice 😢

We have known The Love of God, The Forgiveness of our sins by The Lord Jesus Christ. We have enjoyed together The Beauty of God’s Creation, and by His Grace we have been able to do the hard work of getting along with each other by treating each other with dignity and honor (James 3:17-18 MSG). He wanted me to share this poem he wrote on Clyde’s passing. May God provide His peace, comfort, & even joy to all those family & friends grieving Clyde’s passing. Though he will be sorely missed his spirit will live on in my family through many tales of adventures shared in person or in the recounting. He has joined Elzine, Hugh, Bob, Mayor of Piscopalian Valley Will, & the founders of the shack across the street on Comstock in the legacy of legends living on in memory!

The Hunters Heart
I watched two friends sharing life, and walking through the woods
Hunting, stalking, laughing, and even cutting wood
Sitting together for hours, and sharing many thoughts
Sometimes even sharing something God had recently taught
Sometimes they laughed, sometimes they’d cry, and every once in a while… they’d fight But because they had a love for God, they knew how to make things right
Many stories unfold as many years go by, and the food is always fine
The Shack holds all the memories and freezes them in time
One day the woods change and the leaves start to fall, it’s clear that time moves on
You see a dark cloud in the horizon, and you know it won’t be long
Now I see one friend staring, intensely at the sky
Pondering that heavy phone call, not wanting to say goodbye
I see the other friend now walking, through the Father’s beloved estate
Breezing through some woodland paths, behind the Pearly Gates
I know they’ll meet again one day, that’s what the Good Book says,
Instead of sharing venison, they’ll be sharing the Father’s bread
Searching the Northern woods with a friend, is also a search of the soul
That friend knows deep things about you, and he helps to make you whole
But goodbye is never goodbye, when both hunters know the Lord.

Wow reading that knowing Dad is now in Paradise gives it a different emotional flavor for me. My son Brandon was saying the other day that he will probably be hit the hardest that his grandpa is gone when he’s up at hunting camp & Grandpa will never again be there with him. There are many hunter’s hearts in my family & they share a love for those that have gone on before, even for some they’ve never met in this life…but they’ll meet in Glory…

The Eagles Nest
I sat on the edge of a precipice nearby
And watched two eagles master the sky
They flew as if there was no care in sight
Maneuvering through currents, all through mid-flight
Later that week I saw them fly by
Pursuing prey that was twice their size
They were tenacious, fearless, and overwhelmingly strong
The prey was no match for their talons were long
A year went by and I saw them again
Flying side by side not a care in the wind
They were peaceful together, and their bond was so tight
They were filled with God’s love and his glorious might
Eagles never part ways, they are bonded for life
They don’t waver in courage, nor are they scared of night
They have vision that can see for two miles out
Only eyes for each other without a doubt
Decades went by and I’d search hard for them
They really became my lifelong friends
When I finally saw them flying together
They they seemed to fly in all kinds of weather
Then one day I noticed, only one flying around
So I got out my optics, and in the nest I found
One of them was laying there with a broken wing
The female I think, she could no longer sing
I watched as the male brought her food night
and day
I was mesmerized and moved, his love on display
He never really quit, and he never stop trying
For he longed to see her wing healed, and once again flying
I wanted to help, but nothing I could do
For he was the only one, who knew how she flew
I guess it was his job, and his alone
He never stopped serving her in their nest / home
And then the worst happened, and that day came
The rain began to fall, and she felt no more pain
The God of All creations said it’s time to come home
You’ve glorified me graciously in how you have flown
I watched as the male, sturdy and strong,
Perched out on a branch, and sang this sad song
I will miss you my love as I fly through the air,
Never imagined you wouldn’t be there
But now that you’re gone I won’t fly alone
The Lord flies with me, and he gets me home
For he makes the wind, the sky and the clouds
And I will not fear, he’s always around.
Thank you dear Lord for I got to fly
With this beautiful eagle side by side
I will miss her smooth feathers, and I will miss her fine beak

I knew a man who stood tall and wise
He served the Lord wearing no disguise

He is the family’s …vigilant, man on the wall
I saw him recently sitting quietly in his chair
Looking like a marine, with a thousand yard stare
Seemed as if he was looking past me
Thinking about what his next prayers might be
I didn’t see an old man in his very last days
Counting the minutes, to go into God’s haze
It wasn’t a man sitting quietly at all
He was a soldier on duty on his God given wall.

I actually found all of these at the Poetry Tree but couldn’t fully read any of them as they each make me cry…I hope these might bless someone in a special way today 💔
Final thoughts, I returned to my parents’ One Comment on the Q-Tree, that still blesses me, under “Songbird Tuller”, I quote Dad initially then expound:
“Dad -Smithing (hot forging, hammering) also strengthens metal at the cellular level. When quenching steel the blade must be pointed due north or the blade will actually bend or curve to point north. Selah.”
This is a deeply profound point. God is literally at work in Every Level of His Creation. It’s like that video you guys showed us once. I don’t recall the name but it featured a shifting of perspectives from the sub-atomic level to the ever expanding universe…& where ever one would go there would be the Hand, the Magnificence, the Mystery, & the Majesty of God!
True North, we navigate even in Darkness for the Lord has provided a Light to guide us. When we are His & fashioned in His forge we must resonate & orient to that Absolute Truth reflected in True North.
I’m glad Dad brought that up because I was thinking the paragraph mentioning sword smithing was in error when referring to “iron sharpens iron”. That’s what we do to each other, knocking those rough edges off to get a sharper, cleaner cut when it’s time to speak those words of Truth in Love. That ready blade may swiftly & even deeply cut but it won’t leave a jagged wound & once the offence is removed (cancer, splinter, boil/cyst needing draining, etc.) the wound can more quickly & cleanly be closed & heal.
Let that healing begin!

BUT…..Still, the strategy has “never worked with mosquitoes at a large enough scale” to halt the transmission of diseases they can bear.

OK, a little fun with Linux for Kalbo.
Open a shell box — it’s a little black square with something like “> -” in it, probably in the active bar at the bottom of your screen. Or you can get it from the menu under Administration with a “$_” black box labeled “Terminal”.
There are about four other ways of getting there, but that can wait until it starts feeling useful.
One of the very common things you do with the Terminal is figure out which files are where and who they are owned/controlled by. This uses “ls” in a variety of flavors. Incidentally, typing “man ls” should give you some information pages about available options and uses.
One of the more common typos for “ls” is “sl”, which can also be a command. Typing “sl” will have the computer reply, “Command ‘sl’ not found, but can be installed with:
sudo apt install sl”. You can try running “man sl” from here and get nothing useful (it’s not installed).
Go ahead and type “sudo apt install sl”, and give your user password to authenticate. If you try to use “man sl” from here, it will tell you about the program. If you run the program by typing “sl”, you will get an ASCII graphic Steam Locomotive chugging across the Terminal window.
You may find this useful as a reminder to type slower and more carefully, or it may just annoy you. If it annoys you, you can type “sudo apt remove sl” and it will be gone. This may leave small data files behind (like high-scores tables for games), “sudo apt purge sl” will get rid of these. In addition, apt will keep a cache of all packages you have ever downloaded — “sudo apt autoclean” and “sudo apt clean” will get rid of these.
The reason to save all the cached packages is that you have slow internet. Nowadays, we download installation disks off the internet in ginormous downloads, so there is little reason to cache individual packages.
By default, Mint’s software updater doesn’t clear off old cached package copies for you, which is a reason to do it manually every so often.
At the risk of being repetitive, hold that thought. Have saved this stuff. Too many moving parts here. Will revisit in ~two weeks. About that time, I’ll be on Mint full time. (About damn time.)

A cancer immunotherapy specialist with 30+ years in the field says that in early 2022 he saw six melanoma patients relapse within six weeks.
All six had been stable for between 3 and 18 years.
The one thing he found in common: they’d recently had a booster.
But that’s not the part that stuck with me.
He says many of his patients had seen a dozen doctors before him, and not one had asked about their vaccine history.
If nobody asks, nobody counts. And if nobody counts, “there’s no evidence” becomes self-fulfilling.
He points to a Madrid study on exhausted T-cells in cancer patients after a third dose. His bigger claims about mRNA and oncogenes will be heavily disputed, and he knows it.
But “record the vaccine history” shouldn’t be controversial.

gonna ask the group here who hopefully have more answers than I’m getting from wp. my comment section has gone primitive. we can no longer post memes, pictures or tweets. I posted questions in the “forums” (i have a free account therefore getting an actual human response is next to none). I got so desperate i even tried their ai assistant. (It old me free accounts NEVER could post picture or memes in the comments and I called BS on that and it said “apologized” and said i was right and asked if I want to speak with a representative. I said yes…of course, there were none available.
I looked at the free plugins available and none are recommended anymore for security reasons.
Marica has the same issues and she has a paid plan, so not sure why it’s happening…only that (thank goodness) it’s not happening here.

I listened to my geology teacher. We built 100 ft + above the flood plain. Wind and trees down is the major problem for us.

Not much but some flooding in spots in this region. We drove through the middle of it in East TN, west NC, and SC heading to our fall frolic. The I-40 gorge that is being rebuilt was fine – no problems going that 12 miles at around 40 mph. Our area in east TN was limited on rain, an inch or so with moderate wind. Western NC mountains had the most wind, 20-30 mph and colder in the area we drove through. Temps had dropped to 53 degrees at that point. The rain was heavy in spots in NC and SC – many areas had 3-5 inches. Once we made it over to I-95 to the east the rains had lessened. The last bands of rain passed through this morning in the lowcountry. The sun is out and beautiful 80 degrees now.

COMMENTARY FOR JAMES 1
This epistle of James is one of the most instructive writings in the New Testament. Being chiefly directed against particular errors at that time brought in among the Jewish Christians, it does not contain the same full doctrinal statements as the other epistles, but it presents an admirable summary of the practical duties of all believers. The leading truths of Christianity are set forth throughout; and on attentive consideration, it will be found entirely to agree with St. Paul’s statements concerning grace and justification, while it abounds with earnest exhortations to the patience of hope and obedience of faith and love, interspersed with warnings, reproofs, and encouragements, according to the characters addressed. The truths laid down are very serious, and necessary to be maintained; and the rules for practice ought to be observed in all times. In Christ there are no dead and sapless branches, faith is not an idle grace; wherever it is, it brings forth fruit in works.How to apply to God under troubles, and how to behave in prosperous and in adverse circumstances. (1-11) To look upon all evil as proceeding from ourselves, and all good from God. (12-18) The duty of watching against a rash temper, and of receiving the word of God with meekness. (19-21) And of living according thereto. (22-25) The difference between vain pretences and real religion. (26,27)
1-11 Christianity teaches men to be joyful under troubles: such exercises are sent from God’s love; and trials in the way of duty will brighten our graces now, and our crown at last. Let us take care, in times of trial, that patience, and not passion, is set to work in us: whatever is said or done, let patience have the saying and doing of it. When the work of patience is complete, it will furnish all that is necessary for our Christian race and warfare. We should not pray so much for the removal of affliction, as for wisdom to make a right use of it. And who does not want wisdom to guide him under trials, both in regulating his own spirit, and in managing his affairs? Here is something in answer to every discouraging turn of the mind, when we go to God under a sense of our own weakness and folly. If, after all, any should say, This may be the case with some, but I fear I shall not succeed, the promise is, To any that asketh, it shall be given. A mind that has single and prevailing regard to its spiritual and eternal interest, and that keeps steady in its purposes for God, will grow wise by afflictions, will continue fervent in devotion, and rise above trials and oppositions. When our faith and spirits rise and fall with second causes, there will be unsteadiness in our words and actions. This may not always expose men to contempt in the world, but such ways cannot please God. No condition of life is such as to hinder rejoicing in God. Those of low degree may rejoice, if they are exalted to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom of God; and the rich may rejoice in humbling providences, that lead to a humble and lowly disposition of mind. Worldly wealth is a withering thing. Then, let him that is rich rejoice in the grace of God, which makes and keeps him humble; and in the trials and exercises which teach him to seek happiness in and from God, not from perishing enjoyments.
12-18 It is not every man who suffers, that is blessed; but he who with patience and constancy goes through all difficulties in the way of duty. Afflictions cannot make us miserable, if it be not our own fault. The tried Christian shall be a crowned one. The crown of life is promised to all who have the love of God reigning in their hearts. Every soul that truly loves God, shall have its trials in this world fully recompensed in that world above, where love is made perfect. The commands of God, and the dealings of his providence, try men’s hearts, and show the dispositions which prevail in them. But nothing sinful in the heart or conduct can be ascribed to God. He is not the author of the dross, though his fiery trial exposes it. Those who lay the blame of sin, either upon their constitution, or upon their condition in the world, or pretend they cannot keep from sinning, wrong God as if he were the author of sin. Afflictions, as sent by God, are designed to draw out our graces, but not our corruptions. The origin of evil and temptation is in our own hearts. Stop the beginnings of sin, or all the evils that follow must be wholly charged upon us. God has no pleasure in the death of men, as he has no hand in their sin; but both sin and misery are owing to themselves. As the sun is the same in nature and influences, though the earth and clouds, often coming between, make it seem to us to vary, so God is unchangeable, and our changes and shadows are not from any changes or alterations in him. What the sun is in nature, God is in grace, providence, and glory; and infinitely more. As every good gift is from God, so particularly our being born again, and all its holy, happy consequences come from him. A true Christian becomes as different a person from what he was before the renewing influences of Divine grace, as if he were formed over again. We should devote all our faculties to God’s service, that we may be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.
19-21 Instead of blaming God under our trials, let us open our ears and hearts to learn what he teaches by them. And if men would govern their tongues, they must govern their passions. The worst thing we can bring to any dispute, is anger. Here is an exhortation to lay apart, and to cast off as a filthy garment, all sinful practices. This must reach to sins of thought and affection, as well as of speech and practice; to every thing corrupt and sinful. We must yield ourselves to the word of God, with humble and teachable minds. Being willing to hear of our faults, taking it not only patiently, but thankfully. It is the design of the word of God to make us wise to salvation; and those who propose any mean or low ends in attending upon it, dishonour the gospel, and disappoint their own souls.
22-25 If we heard a sermon every day of the week, and an angel from heaven were the preacher, yet, if we rested in hearing only, it would never bring us to heaven. Mere hearers are self-deceivers; and self-deceit will be found the worst deceit at last. If we flatter ourselves, it is our own fault; the truth, as it is in Jesus, flatters no man. Let the word of truth be carefully attended to, and it will set before us the corruption of our nature, the disorders of our hearts and lives; and it will tell us plainly what we are. Our sins are the spots the law discovers: Christ’s blood is the laver the gospel shows. But in vain do we hear God’s word, and look into the gospel glass, if we go away, and forget our spots, instead of washing them off; and forget our remedy, instead of applying to it. This is the case with those who do not hear the word as they ought. In hearing the word, we look into it for counsel and direction, and when we study it, it turns to our spiritual life. Those who keep in the law and word of God, are, and shall be, blessed in all their ways. His gracious recompence hereafter, would be connected with his present peace and comfort. Every part of Divine revelation has its use, in bringing the sinner to Christ for salvation, and in directing and encouraging him to walk at liberty, by the Spirit of adoption, according to the holy commands of God. And mark the distinctness, it is not for his deeds, that any man is blessed, but in his deed. It is not talking, but walking, that will bring us to heaven. Christ will become more precious to the believer’s soul, which by his grace will become more fitted for the inheritance of the saints in light.
26,27 When men take more pains to seem religious than really to be so, it is a sign their religion is in vain. The not bridling the tongue, readiness to speak of the faults of others, or to lessen their wisdom and piety, are signs of a vain religion. The man who has a slandering tongue, cannot have a truly humble, gracious heart. False religious may be known by their impurity and uncharitableness. True religion teaches us to do every thing as in the presence of God. An unspotted life must go with unfeigned love and charity. Our true religion is equal to the measure in which these things have place in our hearts and conduct. And let us remember, that nothing avails in Christ Jesus, but faith that worketh by love, purifies the heart, subdues carnal lusts, and obeys God’s commands.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
