I had noted that it went over 100 degrees on Thursday. The Fiancee put a cooler on the front porch with bottled water and a note for USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, and similar to feel free to grab one.
When the city had people resurfacing our street, I’d hand bottled water out to the workers every couple of hours.
When the contract is with someone else, you’ll get the best job done on your property if you are especially nice with the workers.
My dad built five houses that put my sister and I though college, and he always had treats for the on-site workers.
The funniest story with this was when we had a crew in to replace our back patio with pavers. Mind you, the written contract was “nuts” — it was spec’d like we had semis driving over it with engineered fill and compaction. But every time the workers showed we had coffee, water, and sodas; donuts; and a fruit tray, none of which was in the contract. About 80% of the way through, we get a call from the contractor — “where the hell are my guys?”
We replied, “they’re here, happily finishing our job.”
He angrily says, “they’re supposed to be two miles away, starting a different job.” We were like, “sorry, maybe they’ll get there this afternoon.”
It has been almost 30 years, and our patio is just fine. I think the workers did a fine job.
My slightly similar tale is in my lily white NJ town [seriously – by law], our trash was picked up by two guys in a standard garbage truck. Every week in the summer, my mom would take a tray with a pitcher of freshly made lemonade out to them. This was in the late 50s – early 60s [I was about 10-11] and the garbage men were quite black. Of course they were quite grateful in the 90 degree heat with 90% humidity.
I never understood racism then, and I still don’t.
But I sure do understand culture nowadays.

I wanted to share a tidbit from my family “archives”…
Last week some family members went to my parents’ home to watch Michigan in the Rose Bowl game, as they are the only ones with cable TV.
While there I read a letter they had put up on their Fridge. It began “Dear (their street name) Angels”…
It was a very heartfelt 2 page letter from neighbors that regularly walk by my parents’ home & wanted to thank them profusely for their sidewalk chalk scripture ministry.
For some time now my mom & dad have been writing Bible verses on their sidewalk in front of their home. There is one on the south end w/ a North oriented message & a different one at the north end with a South oriented message–oriented meaning most easily read when heading in that direction. So basically whichever direction one approaches their property there is a Bible verse at the beginning & end of their land. They put up new verses whenever the old ones are gone, like after a rain…
The people who left the note have said that they take many different walking routes but Always make a point to go by my parents’ home so they can read the Bible verses, which often represent the highlight of their day. They said that the verses often become a part of their discussion as they walk & often seem to speak directly to circumstances that they face–since clearly God’s Word does not return void!
Amazingly, based on some of what they penned, it appears that they are Muslim, or at least refer to Muhammed w/ reverence so have a background or culture that is Islamic friendly, at a minimum. Regardless, God’s Word is still at work in their lives & they look at my parents as brother & sister though they’ve never met nor even seen them so have no idea who they are.
I just wanted to share this to say that you never know in how you live your life for the Lord the He is continuing to move & touch lives with His love, mercy, & truth.
Interestingly, I had put sidewalk chalk in my dad’s Christmas stocking knowing he was usually the Bible verse scribe at their home so I was quite blessed to see that their sidewalk chalk ministry was bearing fruit in at least one family’s life. Praise the Lord!

Quote from my draft obituary for my dad:
“As life began winding down, even as he cared for Elaine, Bill was faithful in his “Sidewalk Angels” chalked Bible verses on his property to bless passers by with God’s Word. He met a number of people and even had sweet fellowship in his neighborhood due to his scriptural offerings. God’s Word will not return void.”
Those quotes were written 2 1/ years apart, the first one while my parents were still in this world & Dad’s obit now since they are both gone on to their reward. Chills just a bit…

What an uplifting & encouraging post, TB–Thank you!
Here’s a tidbit of what happened yesterday. Some of you may remember my parents’ “Sidewalk Angels” scripture ministry on their property, Carl even wrote a poem about it. Dad was concerned that the bible verses weren’t getting put out since he’s not home. I was able to write down 2 resurrection verses he wanted yesterday.
I had just finished the first one, John 11:25, using the NIV, when I knocked over the small bucket with sidewalk chalk spilling out all over. A young man riding his bike stopped & offered to help me pick up the chalk. We got into a conversation. His name was Mohammed, a direct descendant of “the prophet Mohammed” & claimed he was originally from Lebanon & of the Shia branch of Islam.
We had a wide ranging, respectful conversation & I shared the Gospel message with him in various ways including showing Jesus crying “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” & showing how that was a quote to the beginning of Psalm 22 & how in that Psalm aspects of Jesus death were prophesied, including a description of the crucifixion torture that hadn’t even been invented yet. Many other things were shared & discussed. In the end I gave him my dad’s NIV, thankfully the late 70s pre-woke version. He also let me pray with him but I was not allowed to touch him either on the hand nor on his shoulder through his shirt.
I prayed, among other things, that God would open his eyes & his ears & soften his heart to receive truth from the Lord. I also prayed for his protection (he claimed no knowledge of either honor killings or the possibility of being killed if he ever converted away from Islam) & in Jesus’ name.
He noticed my brother in the backyard & asked if he could meet him so I took him back there & introduced them. They also spoke for a few minutes & covered some of the same ground I’d covered with him. My brother also prayed with him & they shook hands.
Bottom line is an apparent direct descendant of That Mohammed appears to be a God-loving & Truth-seeking person, willing to accept the NIV & stating he would read. I encouraged him to pray before reading & ask God to reveal truth to him as there were things in the Bible that were different than what is taught in Islam.
God is good & His Word will not return void. Even in my dad’s frailty & decline his ministry is bearing fruit–PTL!

The Eagles Nest
I sat on the edge of a precipice nearby
And watched two eagles master the sky
They flew as if there was no care in sight
Maneuvering through currents, all through mid-flight
Later that week I saw them fly by
Pursuing prey that was twice their size
They were tenacious, fearless, and overwhelmingly strong
The prey was no match for their talons were long
A year went by and I saw them again
Flying side by side not a care in the wind
They were peaceful together, and their bond was so tight
They were filled with God’s love and his glorious might
Eagles never part ways, they are bonded for life
They don’t waver in courage, nor are they scared of night
They have vision that can see for two miles out
Only eyes for each other without a doubt
Decades went by and I’d search hard for them
They really became my lifelong friends
When I finally saw them flying together
They they seemed to fly in all kinds of weather
Then one day I noticed, only one flying around
So I got out my optics, and in the nest I found
One of them was laying there with a broken wing
The female I think, she could no longer sing
I watched as the male brought her food night
and day
I was mesmerized and moved, his love on display
He never really quit, and he never stop trying
For he longed to see her wing healed, and once again flying
I wanted to help, but nothing I could do
For he was the only one, who knew how she flew
I guess it was his job, and his alone
He never stopped serving her in their nest / home
And then the worst happened, and that day came
The rain began to fall, and she felt no more pain
The God of All creations said it’s time to come home
You’ve glorified me graciously in how you have flown
I watched as the male, sturdy and strong,
Perched out on a branch, and sang this sad song
I will miss you my love as I fly through the air,
Never imagined you wouldn’t be there
But now that you’re gone I won’t fly alone
The Lord flies with me, and he gets me home
For he makes the wind, the sky and the clouds
And I will not fear, he’s always around.
Thank you dear Lord for I got to fly
With this beautiful eagle side by side
I will miss her smooth feathers, and I will miss her fine beak
But one thing I’ll miss most, is her kiss on my cheek

OK so I’m gathering some of my funeral prep poems in one place & went looking for the poem my husband wrote on the passing of my dad’s longtime hunting buddy & father of Debbie handling both of my parents’ funeral arrangements. Anyway, I found this note from my dad in the guestbook. I can almost hear this in Dad’s voice 😢

To my beloved friend, Clyde, and fellow adventurer/struggler: we have together enjoyed the many seasons of life, you have been my fishing and hunting buddy for more than 56 years. We have learned how to accept and appreciate each other even in our human weaknesses. We learned how to get along with each other. We have Shared with one another and Loved one another and Apologized to one another and Forgiven one another and Prayed for one another and our family members and circumstances. We have known The Love of God, The Forgiveness of our sins by The Lord Jesus Christ. We have enjoyed together The Beauty of God’s Creation, and by His Grace we have been able to do the hard work of getting along with each other by treating each other with dignity and honor (James 3:17-18 MSG). I’m Bill Stoddard’s daughter Valerie Curren & my husband Michael has been a hunter along with Clyde up at The Shack &/or the Luzerne Hilton hunting cabin for more than 3 decades now. He wanted me to share this poem he wrote on Clyde’s passing. May God provide His peace, comfort, & even joy to all those family & friends grieving Clyde’s passing. The Hunters Heart
I watched two friends sharing life, and walking through the woods
Hunting, stalking, laughing, and even cutting wood
Sitting together for hours, and sharing many thoughts
Sometimes even sharing something God had recently taught
Sometimes they laughed, sometimes they’d cry, and every once in a while… they’d fight But because they had a love for God, they knew how to make things right
Many stories unfold as many years go by, and the food is always fine
The Shack holds all the memories and freezes them in time
One day the woods change and the leaves start to fall, it’s clear that time moves on
You see a dark cloud in the horizon, and you know it won’t be long
Now I see one friend staring, intensely at the sky
Pondering that heavy phone call, not wanting to say goodbye
I see the other friend now walking, through the Father’s beloved estate
Breezing through some woodland paths, behind the Pearly Gates
I know they’ll meet again one day, that’s what the Good Book says,
Instead of sharing venison, they’ll be sharing the Father’s bread
Searching the Northern woods with a friend, is also a search of the soul
That friend knows deep things about you, and he helps to make you whole
But goodbye is never goodbye, when both hunters know the Lord.

Wow reading that knowing Dad is now in Paradise gives it a different emotional flavor for me. My son Brandon was saying the other day that he will probably be hit the hardest that his grandpa is gone when he’s up at hunting camp & Grandpa will never again be there with him. There are many hunter’s hearts in my family & they share a love for those that have gone on before, even for some they’ve never met in this life…but they’ll meet in Glory…

Thank you for the updates. This is a tough time for you and your family. Everyone processes in their own way, on their own time. What I learned is that the body, mind, and spirit of the ones left behind will grieve and mourn in different manifestations. Sometimes, in combination; other times, separately. An example: the conscious mind understands that the deceased loved one is at peace; but, at the same time, the raw emotions are present. It’s all normal. Please take care of yourself. This board has your back.
Your description of the individual responses, combined with the common traits of overwhelming emotional responses, is quite accurate. As humans made in the image of our Creator, we alone have the capacity to hold two different responses in ourselves at the same time while we process through each of them.

The most recent situation for Yours Truly was the death of her brother on Halloween 2024. The “THINKING PART” of my brain was OK with the fact the he was at peace; he wasn’t going to get better. But my GUT was a mess — the pain was awful. I actually wound up in the ER — all the tests came back fine. It was my BODY grieving and mourning the loss of my brother.
So very sorry for your loss. I so wish he’d listened to you, acted on your advice, & chosen a different path. Life can be very unfair & so brutal 💔
And the duality is that that might have been the fairest and most gentle way for it to happen.

Thank you PAVACA. This process has seemed really accelerated for some reason, which has been quite a challenge. I guess that looking for some of these writings has exposed, based on the dates things have been shared, just how quickly & steeply my dad’s decline into death turned out to be. In April Dad is seemingly “fine” & preparing to drive himself to Easter services & less than 2 months later he’s bedridden, starved, dehydrated, morphined, & cancered to death. In April I was just trying to gear up for the anniversary of Mom’s death not remotely thinking we’d be where we are right now.
I don’t mean to complain, if I even am, but I think there might be some level of shock going on layered on the PTSD that’s become part of my existence in various forms for many years now. I think Josiah is wrestling similarly. In some ways my husband is struggling even more than I am as Dad’s death is bringing up his mom’s, dad’s, & stepdad’s deaths for him. He had My parents longer than he had Any of his parents!
Thank you for your wisdom, kindness, patience, & compassion. What you share about the grief process is hard-won knowledge. Your are a shining example of grace AND strength. God Bless YOU!
From what I gather from what you’ve presented here, your description of “the PTSD that’s become part of my existence in various forms for many years now” is bound to be playing a role. Your experiences with your son Josiah present an ongoing stress situation that most people don’t have to deal with, and you are still mourning the loss of your mother. To have your father decline and pass so quickly is bound to be an added shock to the system. Be gentle with yourself and try to take care of your physical and emotional health needs during this time. 🙏🙏🙏

There’s such a short timeline between Dad’s death & the visitation on Monday & the funeral on Tuesday that there is very little time, space, or energy to really even process things. We are all wrestling with things in different ways. I am trying to pace myself & reasonably handle tasks “assigned” to me. Little bro & SIL are 100% running the show so there are some weird dynamics. I’m the oldest & only girl. Middle bro lives in OK so not available but I think he also wrestled w/ little bro being the executor of our parents estate. I’m trying to steer clear of wrestling with issues connected to “stuff” while dealing with people & events that address Dad’s physical form & memorials. Initially it was implied the events would be nearer next weekend but in reality they will be just after this one. I suppose everyone just wants to get it over with but there are tasks & processing that take time & energy. I’m a decade older than SIL & she’s a butt kicker for getting stuff done, but not easy to interface with. Raw emotions make lingering issues between people magnified. Trying to keep a Godly perspective while also, unfortunately also being fairly “hide-bound”, as in encased in my own flesh…
I appreciate you guys letting me talk about some of it & for kind words & prayers that are helping to lighten the load a bit. this is a long article discussing the lack of judicial reprimanding. a married federal judge was having sex in her chambers with a cop and her staff knew about it. Furthermore, she often rubber stamped decisions made by clerks instead of writing her own. When it all came to light she was not impeached, she was told to write apology letters to the clerks addressing specifically her actions that were wrong. She wrote the letters basically saying I’m sorry you were mad type of thing. She still sits on the bench–protected by the upper echelons of the judicial system.

If all is going well with Solas this morning, Yours Truly gets to bring him home from the emergency vet hospital. The attending doctor will call me after they finish rounding. The doctor with whom I spoke last night was very encouraged by his progress. Fingers crossed. But the little guy still isn’t out of the woods yet. I’ll still have to watch him closely over the weekend here. Turns out he had pancreatitis (now resolved, thank God) AND still has an intestinal inflammation. He’ll be on some supportive meds for the inflammation. That damn rabbit poop / deer poop he ate in the yard before I caught him did a number on him.
It’s already 100 degrees here with the heat index, and the humidity is at 75%. And it’s not even 9AM yet. Got the AC going, the ceiling fans and floor fans going, etc., etc. It’s going to be a real scorcher for the next couple of days. If Solas is discharged today, and I go and pick him up, that’s the only time I’ll be out of the house today.
The power did come back on about 6 hours after it went out on Thursday evening. Still on now. But one is concerned that the grid is being really stretched in Central NC — plus, there’s been NO RAIN FOR WEEKS now, and the trees are so dry that they’re liable to literally fall over. This is what happened with that big fire that happened just up the road from Chez Yours Truly on Thursday night. The trees fell on power lines, sparking the fire that blacked out the entire area.

Another reason his style seems so chaotic is that the global system and other powers have long benefited from keeping the status quo, a corrupt system that quietly protected the regime. Trump is breaking that old order apart.
For Trump, this whole negotiation and deal-making process is basically a soft war. It’s a deliberate strategy to gradually disarm and weaken the regime piece by piece, at minimum cost.
Even if a deal is reached, he won’t stop, He’ll continue until the regime is so eroded and weak that the Iranian people finally have a fair chance to confront and defeat it themselves.
It won’t happen overnight, but if you look at the direction things are going, the trend is clear.
President Trump knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s not performing for us. He’s taking massive risks with his political capital.
It’s a big gamble, yes, but it doesn’t mean it won’t work. And if one person can actually pull Iran out of this cancer, it’s him. No one else. Trust the man, trust the process.

A psalm of praise.
– We are here stirred up to praise God. Praise God for his sanctuary, and the privileges we enjoy by having it among us; praise him because of his power and glory in the firmament. Those who praise the Lord in heaven, behold displays of his power and glory which we cannot now conceive. But the greatest of all his mighty acts is known in his earthly sanctuary. The holiness and the love of our God are more displayed in man’s redemption, than in all his other works. Let us praise our God and Saviour for it. We need not care to know what instruments of music are mentioned. Hereby is meant that in serving God we should spare no cost or pains. PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Update:
Just talked with the attending vet at the emergency hospital.
Solas is again having issues. Not eating again. Refusing water again. Hasn’t defecated in the past 36 hours. They’re going to try him on an appetite stimulant and go back to supportive fluids. They think there’s some kind of small blockage in his intestines. More diagnostics are scheduled. They want me to come and visit with the little guy.

I’m sorry he’s having trouble. Since you mentioned his eating things he shouldn’t in the yard, I was reminded of many stories I’ve read of dogs eating weird things. Sometimes surgery is required. I had a dog once that had to have some pebbles removed from his stomach.
I’m not wishing that kind of surgery on Solas, but if it does turn out to be something like that, maybe at least that part of his issues could get resolved. Intestinal blockage is not something to fool around with.
My daughter’s Cane Corso ate a rock. Not a pebble, a ROCK. She had to have surgery to have it removed.

However, IMO, it may also be that Sec. Kennedy, Jr., has had enough.
On the other hand, if it is true, and Sec. Kennedy, Jr., will be leaving HHS, that would leave two options on the table:
One: the current administration chooses someone who will make it happen that the COVID-19 bioweapon “vaccines” are stopped in the United States; AND, that the 1 June 2026 CDC grant to Pfizer-BioNTech to lab-create the “2026 – 2027 modRNA COVID-19 booster vaccine” will be clawed back; or,
Two: the current administration chooses someone who is “owned” (or, at least, has deep ties to) by Big Pharma / Establishment Medicine / Big Money / Big Organizations (like GAVI), who will take HHS (and its divisions) back to “the good old days” of rubber-stamping new drugs and “vaccines”, and being controlled by the above-mentioned entities.

Dear Q-Tree family, please pray for my dad’s sister Pat. I saw her over Memorial Day Up North at the family Cottage & she was fine. She got to see my dad on her way back home to the Chicago area. The first weekend of June she was going back to the Cottage with 2 friends who were driving a 3 state tour with her as she showed them where she wants her ashes spread when the time comes. I was planning to stay through at the Cottage to meet them but because my dad was in decline came home early. By the time she got home from her second trip she had broken Four fingers.
Now before her Memorial Day arrival she had been at a Woman’s Herbalist, iirc, retreat, where she’d taken a fall off of an unseated rock “step” & had fallen onto rocks on the side of the trail. She said she never gets hurt & bounced right back up, no bruising or any issues…then.
Well I sent her notifications about Dad’s death & the Man on the Wall poem Michael wrote–she is a multi-published poet & author of a number of books but her reply had no acknowledgement of these things (not like her) but she did say that she had now broken 2 more fingers and was needing surgery, scheduled on Dad’s funeral day.
She is to be 90 in December & has been incredibly strong & resilient in so many ways, including widowhood of a decade+. A couple years back when the family did the Mackinac Bridge Walk in honor of her 85th birthday she literally kicked Everyone’s butts & out-paced us all, including 20 somethings. She’s a petite thing & has literally hiked, backpacked, & mountain climbed around the world. In fact back in the day she shouldered a pack weighing 60+ pounds, she might be 5′ 1″ & perhaps 100# soaking wet.
She’s been burdened with trying to arrange for her property & possessions to find a worthy recipient. She & her husband built their notable Prairie Sun passive solar home in the 1970s & she has turned that Naperville property into a naturalist’s paradise. She’s practically willing to give the property away if she can find someone who will honor her legacy, maintain her native prairie plantings on her lot & roof, & curate & manage her many scientific collections. It weighs so heavily on her that so far she hasn’t found the right way to have that legacy go forward, even in working with long time educational institutions that she’s had decades long relationships with.
So Pat is hurting at her brother’s death–she & Dad were the last of many cousins on both sides of their families; at her own pending departure (eventually) if she cannot find ways for her property to not just get sold & torn down by developers & suburbanized; now her deep physical needs with many broken fingers, surgery & 4-6 months of healing; & even upheaval in her church life where a new pastor came in & got rid of the Bible Study meeting place of a long term active senior citizen group causing most of them to leave their church of many years & follow a splinter faction under a former associate pastor who was passed over in favor of an apparently tyrannical new head pastor that has installed multiple family members in well paid positions–the Chicago Way 😡

Oh, I’m sure I would. Her place sounds heavenly to me.
Her neighbors probably hate her because of how “overgrown” her lot is with native plants. She used to, maybe still does, burn down the plants yearly with the fire department on hand to supervise, to mimic what used to be a pretty regular natural cycle. I don’t know when she also made a natural roof but she spent tons of money on that. She’s never had money, with income below the poverty level but what money she could wrestle pretty much always went into travel &/or science/naturalism. She would teach a college class, like on Nepal for example, so that she would get paid to take people there. I guess she was savvy with making her life be filled with what she loved, that heavily focused on the outdoors.

Update on Solas:
This morning, the attending vet called after they finished rounding.
Solas wasn’t doing very well. Big contrast to last night.
This morning, he refused food, didn’t take water (they had to restart the IV fluids), was anxious and restless.
He hadn’t had a bowel movement since Wednesday evening when I brought him in.
The vet suggested that I come to the hospital and have a visit with the little guy.
I told the vet to please tell Solas that I was coming over to see him very soon.
Got in the car and drove over (it was over 100 degrees and also humid, only 11AM.)
Got to the hospital. While in the lobby, he (back in the treatment area) sensed that I was there. And he started barking like crazy.
The staff took me to an exam room for the visit. Brought Solas into the room.
He took one look at me, and immediately went “limp” and flopped onto the floor.
I thought something was very wrong.
The doctor came in just then. I told her what I heard in the lobby and what was going on right then. She took a look at Solas and said he looked all right to her.
Then she explained that some hospitalized pets, when they see “their humans”, are so relieved to see them that they relax completely and “flop.”
Meanwhile, I pick up Solas and hold him. He didn’t wiggle, he just wanted to be held and comforted.
The vet suggested that I take the little guy outside for a walk, in the hope that he’d eventually have a bm (they wanted to test a sample. Sorry if this is TMI.)
A vet tech came with his leash, clipped it to his collar, and off he and I went outside.
Solas wanted to walk outside, even though the temperature was nasty.
And, sure enough, just before I brought him back into the hospital, he “performed”.
And, sure enough, when I said I’d be back and that he’d be coming home soon, and the staff took him back to the treatment area — he began to bark like crazy again.
The attending vet texted me a little while ago.
Solas ate food, drank water, seems more alert, is still barking but not like crazy. He’s going to be settled down for the night with a couple of meds.
If all goes well tonight, there’s a good chance he’ll be discharged tomorrow morning.
Fingers crossed.
Eating, drinking water and barking like crazy are all very good signs.
Sounds like good news, he just needed to see his human! 👍😁

The first day I got my rescue dog, she had been in a shelter for a few months. I brought her home, and she stretched full length on my feet, and slept like a stone for a long time.
I think the relief of coming “home” just overwhelmed her.

Unhinged: Random Assaults on White People, Attacks on Austin Metcalf’s Family

I woke up this morning to see videos of what may be a social media trend: black people randomly going up to white people — they look to be homeless men — and assaulting them, claiming that they were on the Karmelo Anthony jury.
The videos are made by the people doing the hitting, and don’t even have to be in Texas, so it’s obviously just about using the Karmelo Anthony conviction as a hook to gain clout for striking white people.

I don’t think it is a widespread trend, but clearly somebody is trying to start one. I say that because the same phrase, “jury selection,” is used in the videos, and they are all taken by the person committing the attacks.

Obviously, nobody in Florida served on the jury, and the perpetrators knew that the jury wasn’t filled with people who appear to be homeless, or at least quite down and out.

It seems to be part of a larger trend of angry black people harassing random white people as an act of dominance, explicitly linking their race to being justifiable victims of assaults.
It has become fashionable to defend Karmelo Anthony, usually claiming that he was justified in killing Metcalf, and that if the races were reversed, Austin would have walked out of the courtroom a free man.

That’s not a fringe position, having been picked up by Jasmine Crockett and some, you guessed it, AWFLs who are siding with Karmelo and even praising him for not being sorry for killing Austin, kinda blowing the argument that he was just an innocent boy who made a mistake for which he is sorry.

Black celebrities are raising money for Karmelo’s appeal, again focusing on race, admitting that they don’t care when white people are killed.

It’s not that all black people buy into this crap. I assume that most don’t, although they might grumble about his getting convicted for murder instead of manslaughter. I don’t think — I hope — that grievance culture has not infected them so much that they applaud or justify murdering a kid.

It’s all too easy to universalize what is a minority opinion because it’s louder and more unified. Just as it’s wrong to blame every white person for the racist opinions of a few, it’s wrong to reverse this tendency.
But the attitude is widespread and, by virtue of being normalized, growing, as is the backlash. You can get clout for filming yourself attacking random people for no reason, and the more that is true, the more it will happen.

The tendency among white liberals and many of us in general is to downplay the problem rather than point it out and condemn it, so the reciprocal anger builds up as it did in Belfast, and when it comes out, it comes out in outbursts, which only makes things worse.
Race relations are getting worse, and there is a large group of people egging it on. People will point to
the Proud Boys and otherracist groups out there as the instigators, and I agree that they are vile. But they are not going out there and randomly assaulting people, just marching, often silently, and they are not getting widespread support and celebrities celebrating them..
Fairly or not, it’s on black people to police this social behavior, because the more white people try, the more the resentment will grow. We don’t have the moral weight with the people doing this or supporting it. We can’t shame them, because they already hate us.
It’s as useful as explaining to the IRGC that they shouldn’t hate us.

I don’t care if the black people who make the effort think that whites are more racist than most of us are; all I care about is for them to tamp down the frenzy that is growing.

People are trying to gin up a race war. That won’t end well for anybody, and lest anybody think that it would be good to be on the “winning” side, nothing short of genocide would lead to its final conclusion.

Not to mention, black people are the greatest victims of crime by feral black teenagers. While whites are the targets of the incidents that wind up on social media, posted for clout, it’s black people who suffer as victims of feral black perpetrators far more often. Not only are black men the most demographically inclined to commit crimes, but they commit most of them against other black people.

They aren’t just indifferent to black lives; they are indifferent to anybody’s.

I don’t know how many of these “activists” really believe that Karmelo was justified in killing Austin, or whether this is just reveling in hatred and rage for its own sake. Are they justifying their own worst impulses, or do they really believe that they should be at war with random white people?
I don’t know, and frankly I don’t care. What I do care about is the fact that celebrating murder is good for gaining clout. When something is celebrated and rewarded, you get more of it.
UPDATE: I struck out the reference to the Proud Boys. As people pointed out, they may not be primarily racist, and in any case, I really don’t know that much about them.
This is pretty crazy. And its very sad that they have no will to correct their culture.
Yep and apparently they don’t quite process the bigger picture. If they continue with no societal pushback they will assuredly begin to tear race relations to bits. It took years of reprogramming ,so to speak , to attain equal footing.
A little more of this bullshit and there might be a new generation of people calling for segregation.
