The very sad thing about this is that human courtship is transgressive. You’re supposed to be able to relate to the opposite sex in social or business settings without rutting — and this goes for both males and females — but there must be some transgression of this code in order to initiate a more intimate relationship.
It cannot involve coercion, and there should be some way to scramble back to “civilization”, but someone has to do something that is “just not done” in order to get things rolling. I’ve been on both sides of this — in one case, a woman threw her towel at me to get my attention; she had been showering, and it was the only thing she was wearing at the time, and she accomplished her objective. In another case, I was talking to a woman over my car door and my hand on the door was close enough to “absent-mindedly” caress her while retaining eye contact. This is part of the dance of intimacy for humans.
And, I might add, this is not an efficient process. Many more “transgressions” are blown-off than lead to serious relationships…..and many cases have people continuing to see each other in social groups or workplace settings afterwards. There are cases where an intimate relationship occurs and flourishes after multiple failed attempts. It’s not like humans are straightforward and simple.
But it is absolutely not helpful to treat every transgression as the equivalent of rape. That road leads to the extinction of the species.
YUP, YUP, YUP.
IMO the honorable way is to respect “the other team” when they make failed transgression attempts. So even if “not interested” (for whatever reason), being kind and treating any offer as having been a worthy offer is the way. For me, that was always authentic, too, because (for whatever reasons) it’s risky for women to come on to guys, and so I respected women for simply having the game to try to start something, even when it was a “no way in hell” situation.
It was always a bit harder to do that with guys, because that’s aways a “no way in hell” for me, but having a bit of sympathy for people with that particular broken compass helps. It’s a rough world out there, when intimacy is only possible with a small fraction of it. Sorry I can’t help, but – COUGH – as I was saying – no way in hell! 😂
I enjoyed your comment. And you are essentially correct about “transgressions” being necessary to initiate some form of courtship.
What interests me is the evolving nature of what is “transgressive” and how we got here. Of course, it was the “sexual revolution” of the 1960’s, at least I think so.
Back in the day, when I was growing up in the South in the 1970’s, because the Deep South has always been behind the times, dating was a more “regulated” process. This was because society itself was always watching. There were societal limits on what constituted an “appropriate” transgression, and woe betide the person who crossed the line.
Your first example of the towel thrower would have faced serious approbation from her peers if it got out what she did. That was “over the line.”
The second example, of a light touch on the hand, was perfectly appropriate from a man. As would be a man putting his hand on a woman’s shoulder or his hand to her back to gently guide her through a door he held open. Ass-grabbing happened in bars, but hanging out in bars for women was generally frowned on, as it was an unsafe environment (demonstrated by said ass grabbing).
After the 60’s, it has become a free for all. What’s funny to me is, what these #MeToo women are really after, whether they know it or not, is a return to men having respect for them, and not having to “wonder” about whether every “transgression” is a move to initiate mindless, relationship-less, commitment-less, no-responsibility sexual contact. After which the two parties go their separate ways, and the woman feels worthless and alone, because biology and brain chemistry cause her to “attach” to males she “ruts” with, as you put it.
We live in a sad world. Women are not designed by nature to be what they have become, which is why so many are depressed, anxious, lonely and medicated.

I am feeling a bit agitated about crap like they tried to pull.
The problem is needing all of these type legal/judicial activities to be set right when, not if, government overreaches or private entities sue or bogus referendums/bills get passed or whatever. When it violates the Constitution/law and the government participates as transgressors, there are no repercussions for being wrong and violating the rights of American citizens. It also takes ridiculously long periods to address because the judiciary makes sure their buds in the legal community make big bucks along the way for various, sometimes personal reasons.
When government takes the actions against the Constitution/law, those transgressed against are paying for them to do it with citizen tax dollars. That is the definition of a scam. They use OPM to harm We the People who provided the funds for them to abuse us.
So, when you see me and others talking about shortfalls in the Constitution and BoR, that is a practical example. Offenders should face serious consequences and penalties for losing and being wrong while costing tax payers and private citizens money, time, oppressive treatment, etc. There should be zero statute of limitations relating to criminal actions taken by government officials in the performance of their duties. The judiciary should also have a penalty box for rogue/political judges that results in their termination from the bench and charges if appropriate. There would be less criminals in robes.

Ah, what a tangled web…..Shadowfax was a featured artist on Windham Hill Records back in the day. Like O’Reilly books and Apple iPads, they had a very minimalist aesthetic on white for their packaging — and a very strong house style to back it up.
In the later years of the label, Windham Hill came out with a series of compilation videos that featured their artists’ music along with calming nature-based scenery. When our godkids would come to visit and it came to end the day, we’d put these on in the living room to decompress them and get them to sleep. We jokingly referred to them as “boring movies” and joked that we had to press play and hurry out of the room, lest we end up snoring on the floor next to the kids.
The videos had official names, like “Western Light”, “Autumn Portrait”, “Water’s Path”, and “Tibet”, but we gave them nicknames like “Paint Drying”, “Leaves Falling”, “Water Dripping”, and “Brrrr” to play up the bedtime association. They were tastefully done and beautiful to both the eye and ear, and we treasured them as an expression of our love and care.
Only later did we find out that the making of these videos was something of a civil war between the “creatives” and the “business” types within Windham Hill. Evidently, producing these was horrendously expensive and involved quite a bit of travel with little connection to ordinary and necessary business receipts.
We would have never known, except for one time we were staying overnight up at the godkids’ house, and the kids started describing the “boring movies” to their next-door neighbor who had just stopped by. They were saying how much they loved it when Uncle Cooth and Auntie Fiancee would send them off to dreamland with beautiful music and pictures. As it turns out, the neighbor was one of the Windham Hill business executives who had been in a deathmatch with the creatives during their creation.

So, the Heat Index here in NW Durham County, NC, is at 116 degrees, with humidity at 52%, per AccuWeather. The AC unit here at Chez Yours Truly is in good shape, had it serviced in April. Thermostat is set to 74 degrees. All the ceiling and floor fans are going. Unnecessary lights are off. Unnecessary electric items are off and unplugged.
BUT — the lights that ARE on, appear to be “somewhat dim.” The laptop is running slow.
Just looked at the thermostat. It reads 80 degrees, with the AC still set for 74. But the unit is still working, just pushing out “warmer air.” Looked online to see if there were any outages in the local area — none reported. Then, further on down the StartPage links, found this:

Yours Truly can testify that the type of extreme heat + humidity going on now in Central NC is UNUSUAL, especially for July. One wonders if there are chemicals that can be sprayed into the air that cause the sun’s rays to “reflect” at a higher amount — a sort of “magnifier effect”?
Had to put on a jacket this morning to ward off the chill in the air Pavaca. It’s harvest season here on the plains of Montana and at this time off the year, we should be seeing 70 to 80 degrees in the morning.
The weather over the past two weeks has been highly “unusual” in our area as well, but instead of high temperatures and humidity, we have had cool temperatures and rain. Bad for the crops that are standing in the fields.

Nobody saw this coming. I mean nobody. Yesterday, the Times ran another electrifying story headlined, “After Ghislaine Maxwell Interview, Concerns Mount Over Possibility of a Trump Pardon.” Pardon concerns mount! In the passive voice! By themselves!
Yesterday, in the warm, cozy, Sunshine State climate, “Todd Blanche, Attorney General Pam Bondi’s top deputy, concluded a second extraordinary day of interviews with Ms. Maxwell,” the article explained.
In other words, after years of Biden Administration stonewalling (and file padding), Ghislaine Maxwell got a two-day DOJ interview faster than Little Caesars could deliver a jailhouse pizza. And not just any random DOJ interviewer, either. They didn’t send some junior prosecutor with a legal pad who used to work for Maurene Comey.
They sent Trump’s former personal defense attorney turned Deputy Attorney General— the DOJ’s second in command.
Comparing it to a deposition, two days of DOJ interviews requires at least four days of prep time. In other words, DOJ’s number two cleared his calender for this. It wasn’t an interview; it was a mission.
Democrats, who ten minutes ago were pounding podiums demanding full transparency of the carefully curated Biden FBI files, were shocked to discover that Trump has another untainted source of information— Ghislaine Maxwell, chilling in a Florida prison like a long-forgotten, sealed box in the bottom of the evidence locker.
Now Democrats are suddenly sweating like an OnlyFans producer in church.
“The Blanche-Maxwell discussion,” the Times soberly reported, “has stoked concerns from critics of Mr. Trump that he may grant Ms. Maxwell a reprieve.” (Unnamed critics, of course.)
🔥 Ghislaine is unspoiled evidence. Astonishingly, no one had ever bothered interviewing her before. Not during the original Epstein investigation, not during her trial, not during five years of media blackout, strategic amnesia, and hot-potato footwork with the Epstein client list. And now, after she spilled the tea for ten hours over two days to Trump’s former lawyer turned top DOJ official, suddenly it’s a constitutional crisis.
Maxwell’s lawyer, David Markus, said DOJ officials had “asked about every possible thing imaginable.” Todd Blanche asked Maxwell about over 100 named individuals, and she dished the dirt. Markus said his client “answered every single question asked of her over the last day and a half.” Uh oh.
It was the most hilariously ironic twist yet. Late yesterday, reporters (obviously primed by someone) demanded to know whether Trump would pardon Maxwell in exchange for her testimony. President Trump, classically noncommital, replied, “I’m allowed to do it, but it’s something I haven’t thought about.”
🔥 Democrats are losing their minds. Senate minority leader Chuck “Chuckie” Schumer wildly speculated it was “some kind of a corrupt deal so that she can exonerate Donald Trump.” A lone protester (haha!) at the courthouse, Lisa Lloyd, 64, told rapt Times reporters, “This is wrong. Anyone who is concerned with justice should be appalled by this.”
The reporters didn’t get the pardon idea from Trump, Todd Blanche, or Maxwell’s lawyer. “We haven’t spoken to the president or anybody about a pardon just yet,” Markus said. “The president this morning said he had the power to do so. We hope he exercises that power.”
So let’s add this up. First, Democrats demand full transparency. Then, as soon as Trump sends DOJ’s second-in-command to find the facts, they started rioting like caged rhesus monkeys who just found out the banana shipment got rerouted to El Paso and incinerated. A pardon would be a travesty of justice!
Reporters sure have short memories. What about Biden’s pardons? That was what, less than 12 months ago? Remember that aging but remarkably spry human cockroach, Fauci? Or Biden’s entire family? Or the grotesque January 6th Committee— none of whom refused their pardons in principle?
🔥 Apart from Epstein himself —who is currently unavailable due to an unfortunate mishap of being suicided in a poorly run, high-security federal facility in New York— there is no better witness on Earth than Ghislaine Maxwell. Maxwell might even be better than Epstein.
As Miami Herald investigative reporter Julie K. Brown has said many times, man-baby Epstein never did anything for himself. No. Maxwell did it for him.
Epstein was the front of the house. Maxwell was the kitchen, the accounting department, and the security system. She holds the map, the manifest, and —most importantly— the motive. This is exactly why the political class is panicking. Because it wasn’t just an airy, high-level interview. This was an authorized data download from the last living hard drive, carefully preserved in a Florida (not New York) prison.
The reason they are floating the pardon issue is simple: they’re desperately trying to discredit Ghislaine Maxwell before her testimony surfaces. It’s narrative preemption—classic information warfare. If she names someone inconvenient, say, Chuck Schumer, the response is already baked into the narrative custard: She only said that to get herself out of prison!
But it won’t work. The reason will become clear in a couple more paragraphs.
The FBI’s years-long non-investigation of Epstein is backfiring spectacularly. In a sane world, by now Maxwell would have sat for thousands of hours of interviews, if only to get herself out of ‘the hole’ and be assigned to laundry duty.
The Times insinuated (not very subtly) that Trump is dangling a pardon to get Maxwell to clear his name. But … what is he supposed to do? Not question the best living witness? And as recently as yesterday’s edition, the Times demanded all the Epstein evidence come out.
Seriously, you just can’t please these people.
🔥 They thought they had Trump right where they wanted him, dead to rights, with a compromised FBI file. But one news cycle later, the press, the Democrats, and the entire institutional ecosystem are flailing like they just realized the ground they’ve been standing on might be made of quicksand.
Trump didn’t resist interviewing Maxwell. He didn’t drag it out. He didn’t get into a highly public battle with Maxwell’s lawyers. He could’ve easily put Maxwell in a legal box where she’d have pleaded the Fifth Amendment if they’d asked her whether she wanted bologna or plain rice for lunch.
Now, haha, Democrats are being forced to pivot again, and pre-bunk the exact same evidence they were just demanding be produced.
I’ll end with this bit of speculation: In legal terms, the new Epstein timeline is meteoric. It has been only about three weeks between the DOJ’s release of its weird, unsigned, “case closed” letter and Ghislaine Maxwell’s interview by Trump’s former lawyer and DOJ number two.
One wonders whether this whole timeline existed before the “case closed” letter surfaced or was even drafted.
Interviews like this don’t materialize overnight. They require vetting, security clearance, strategy meetings, draft immunity parameters, and agreement from both sides. It all looks much more like a carefully orchestrated plan than a knee-jerk reaction.
🔥 Okay, are you ready for the really mind-blowing part? Because I think we are beginning to see where all this is headed. And it is glorious.
With Ghislaine’s interview already in the can, President Trump now has his finger on the trigger. And it’s a light pull. He doesn’t need hearings. He doesn’t need press conferences. He only needs one line —one beautifully improvised, brutally effective off-the-cuff Truth Social post— and the hidden sinkhole will open underneath his enemies’ feet, dropping them into political Hades. Something like this:
“Merrick Garland’s investigation was a total joke! One of the WORST investigations EVER! Completely pathetic. He never even talked to the best witness we have—the best, by far. Didn’t ask her a single question. NOT ONE! So now, we’re doing it right. We’re starting over. It’s going to be a brand-new investigation, the most transparent investigation you’ve ever seen. Totally open, totally honest. People are demanding we get to the truth and WE ARE! MAGA!”
If he does it, well, Moses, smell the roses.
With the FBI now headed by two Epstein hawks —Kash Patel and Dan Bongino— and primed by the one witness interview that should have kicked off any legitimate FBI investigation, now, finally, the real Epstein investigation can begin. They can launch a brand-new, untainted investigation with Maxwell’s help.
If I’m right —and I think I am— that single Truth Social post would tie off every loose Epstein thread and launch the global, all-out attack the QAnoners have predicted since 2017. Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, who’ve waited their whole lives for this, would be finally loosed from their cages. No more talk about resignations or heated infighting.
As for Trump, he’d prove he is obviously unconcerned, vaporizing whatever political “problem” he might have had with his base. And the President would have —once again— turned the politically unthinkable into something not only possible but demanded by his enemies.
Don’t make me speculate on the possible implications of a new, “totally transparent” Epstein investigation on the midterm elections next year. Added to RussiaGate, it would make two Watergate-sized scandals further shredding the already-fractured Democrat tent.
Last week, the case was closed. This week, the DOJ just got an evidentiary goldmine. It’s a fresh batch of never-before-heard evidence that justifies setting the “case closed” memo to the side.
Wait. It gets better. Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 6(e) governs Grand Jury Secrecy. Under DOJ guidelines, any credible new evidence tied to a case’s original scope (or even a parallel matter) lets prosecutors seek reauthorization of the grand jury process.
They can impanel a new Grand Jury.
Even better, the existence of a Rule 6(e) grand jury proceeding is itself secret. If Bongino’s FBI and Bondi’s DOJ start pulling in records, bank statements, flight manifests, or issuing subpoenas, they don’t have to explain why. They can just invoke Rule 6(e), and boom— they’re off to the races, and no one outside the courtroom has any right to know what’s happening.
A Rule 6(e) motion can be filed under seal. It can be decided ex parte, without any opposing lawyers present. All the DOJ needs to say is, “We’ve received new evidence. We need to reopen the Epstein matter under appropriate grand jury authority.” Once approved, it allows DOJ to disclose grand jury material to new investigators and bring in key witnesses like Maxwell without tipping off targets.
It could have already happened. Or, Maxwell’s testimony could be the new evidence they needed to support a Rule 6(e) motion.
Rule 6(e) may be the key that explains the whole timeline, including how and why Todd Blanche —Trump’s former lawyer qua Deputy Attorney General— suddenly showed up in Tallahassee, ready to spend eight hours in prison with Ghislaine Maxwell.
Maxwell’s value isn’t about whether she can clear Trump, whether she’s sympathetic or deserves a pardon, or whether her testimony is reliable. She’s a key witness —the key witness— and her testimony is inarguably material. And Trump’s lawyers just secured her testimony into the record before any rogue judge or mystery assassin could stop it.
Folks, unless I’m way off base, the drama is about to be multiplied times infinity. This isn’t the inglorious, sputtering end of an inconvenient scandal. This looks exactly like the beginning of a Reckoning.

Looks like Danny finally hit the CORRUPTION JACKPOT at FIB we have all known about for years.
Hard to believe people like Dan who are heavily involved in social media don’t read CTH.
So, The Fiancee was kind enough to point out a 2.5-inch branch that spontaneously broke off our liquidambar tree (I had watered it yesterday, so this was a self-pruning scenario). I got it down and chopped it up. It’s always something.
Well, turns out that the main AC unit at Chez Yours Truly is likely messed up. I was finally able to get an HVAC tech to come over on emergency service for this evening. Arrival any minute. Even with all the floor and ceiling fans going, the interior temperature of the house is at 84 degrees. I may have to get a new main AC unit— the current one is 15+ years old.
HVAC units are very simple devices, but a long list of bad things can happen to them.
Many of these things relate to air flow. Is the compressor (outside unit) clear of obstructions, weeds, and debris? When the unit is operating, can you feel a healthy air flow that is decidedly warm from it?
On the inside, you have an evaporator coil. It can be clogged with dust, it can have filters that are clogged with dust, or….it can be iced over. Icing your coils is a huge pain where air flow is lower than needed to evaporate condensation (or condensation drain lines can be clogged). When the unit is operating, can you feel a healthy air flow that is decidedly cool?
The essential trick of physics that makes refrigerators and air conditioners work is pretty straightforward. At the compressor, outside, a “working fluid” is compressed until it turns fluid. It will be hot, and will be run around coils to shed this heat. Warm fluid is then pumped into your house, where pressure is released — this will cause the fluid to evaporate to a gas and will be cold. This cold gas is run around coils for air to be cooled. There’s also an air handling unit that turns fans on at various speeds and routes air to rooms. The gas/liquid lines are sealed and shouldn’t leak.

AC tech did a thorough investigation of the AC.
The unit is gone. It’s 23 years old. The ductwork is original to the house—the house was built in 1975.
Both the AC and the ductwork have to be replaced. Got this scheduled for Monday.
Tomorrow Solas and I go to my son’s house to camp out in their AC until early Monday morning, when we get back here before the AC replacement crew arrives.
Before we leave here, I turn the current unit off so the 3 INCHES OF ICE BUILDUP on the unit (machinery in the crawl space) can melt.

I was gonna say – if it was running for hours at those high temps and wasn’t getting down to the setting EVER, there must have been a huge ice buildup.
Well, you now know where your evaporative coil is — it’s encased in three inches of ice. Again, this is indicative of bad interior air flow. This may be why he’s talking about replacing ducts — if they’re undersized or poorly laid out, the airflow might not have been sufficient to keep the coil dry.
Our house was built in 1955, and we replaced the ducts. The old ones were metal wrapped in asbestos. We had to have people go into our attic in space suits to get the old ones out. We now have standard flexi-duct which is easy.

One problem that we have in American society today is because there is a such a gulf between the veteran and non-veteran community, and because of the “Thank you for your service” culture, we tend to bestow instant credibility and good intentions on any veteran speaking authoritatively on anything.
“Green Beret lieutenant colonel” gives this guy instant credibility in many circles.
But the fact of the matter is, the US military is a reflection of the broader American society, and there are just as many lying, scumbag, narcissist opportunists in the military as there are in the broader society.
Just because someone is a veteran does not make them instantly trustworthy, and when a veteran makes a dubious claim it should be treated with the exact same suspicion as if a non-veteran said it.
I say all this as a veteran myself.
(Also, this is why we have so many Democrat veterans in Congress who are utter dirtbag losers.)
Post these two again, CP and Green Beret, guy in tomorrow’s thread and I’ll lay out the other side of the story your not hearing. This is a very one sided, attempt to discredit with minimal detail by both of these guys and neither give much of an inkling on what was said.
As an incidental on this, younger people are finally waking up to history, and understanding Pallywood, which is something us boomers remember from “young Wictor” (pre-Twitter) era.

I’ve noticed that people who create AI and their associated investors/tech bros constantly trumpet AI’s comprehensive usefulness and power, but the people who actually have to use it in their jobs are far less sanguine.
As a practicing attorney I frequently use AI as a time saver, but that time savings is marginal because AI ROUTINELY HALLUCINATES. It makes stuff up. It simply cannot be trusted without careful scrutiny of every line it spits out.
I’m an experienced attorney so I can spot its errors. AI in the hands of an unsupervised junior associate is a guaranteed malpractice claim.
Until the problem of AI hallucination can be eliminated, IMO it is just so much puffery to burn more and more VC dollars. It is nowhere close to the panacea its proponents brag about.
“Hallucinations” is where the industry dumps all AI problems. I say that we should NOT play along with this cover-up.
My advice to all who will listen – use the term you would use for a person, so that people know the actual defects of the technology. If it lies, deceives, hides, makes things up, goes insane, turns paranoid – WHATEVER – call it out, without passing judgment on whether it’s “really” or “not really”,”consciously” or “automatically” doing these things. Call out the appropriate human behavior. Let the deep questions be sorted out later.
Wow. I think I’m remembering that Mexico has been paid to build a new treatment plant multiple times over the years. Are they going to try something different this time?
