DEAR MAGA: Special Sunday Open Thread 20230903

As Bakocarl recovers from his latest illness, some of us are subbing for Sundays. This is not going to be one of my usual open threads chock full of headlines, Tweets and memes pretty much because there isn’t much out there, but more due to the day of the week: Sunday.

Genesis 2: 1-5

1 So the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the furniture of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made: and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done. 3 And he blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. 4 These are the generations of the heaven and the earth, when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the heaven and the earth: 5 And every plant of the field before it sprung up in the earth, and every herb of the ground before it grew: for the Lord God had not rained upon the earth; and there was not a man to till the earth.

When Christianity continued on after Christ walked among us, what was given to our religious ancestors, the Jews, the day of rest, was moved from the original Sabbath to Sunday to honor our Lord and Savior, who rose from the dead on a Sunday.

All around the Christian world, Sunday used to be reserved for visiting, for family, for a special meal, for resting and relaxing. Even in the old colonial world (French and Spanish colonies), slaves were free on Sunday to relax and visit. They also got together to trade goods made by slaves. Masters at the time did not confiscate what their slaves produced.

Today, Sunday is really almost just like any other day. There’s nothing special about it unless it’s made special by resisting the consumer world. Entertainment and leisure activities are one thing, but a lot of other work….

At any rate, Christians might consider how far they take their Christianity. Is it a clocking in and out as one walks into Church and then back out. Or is it a lifetime commitment of love doing as the Lord commands. Do we really know what is worth worrying about if we can’t do anything about it?

From the Gospel According to St. John, Chapter 5

After these things was a festival day of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is at Jerusalem a pond, called Probatica, which in Hebrew is named Bethsaida, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of sick, of blind, of lame, of withered; waiting for the moving of the water. 4 And an angel of the Lord descended at certain times into the pond; and the water was moved. And he that went down first into the pond after the motion of the water, was made whole, of whatsoever infirmity he lay under. 5 And there was a certain man there, that had been eight and thirty years under his infirmity.

11 He answered them: He that made me whole, he said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk. 12 They asked him therefore: Who is that man who said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? 13 But he who was healed, knew not who it was; for Jesus went aside from the multitude standing in the place. 14 Afterwards, Jesus findeth him in the temple, and saith to him: Behold thou art made whole: sin no more, lest some worse thing happen to thee. 15 The man went his way, and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had made him whole.

16 Therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered them: My Father worketh until now; and I work. 18 Hereupon therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he did not only break the sabbath, but also said God was his Father, making himself equal to God. 19 Then Jesus answered, and said to them: Amen, amen, I say unto you, the Son cannot do any thing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doth, these the Son also doth in like manner. 20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things which himself doth: and greater works than these will he shew him, that you may wonder.

Okay, so Christ worked miracles on the Sabbath. That doesn’t mean we can’t honor Him by taking a rest.

DEAR MAGA: TGIF Open Thread 20230901

Black Mole Margarita

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 ounces mezcal
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce black-cocoa-and-orange syrup*
  • 3 dashes mole bitters (such as Bittermens)
  • Soda water, to top
  • Garnish: lime wheel (dehydrated or fresh)

Steps

  1. Add all ingredients except soda water into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
  2. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
  3. Top with soda water and stir gently to combine.
  4. Garnish with a lime wheel.

*Black-cocoa-and-orange syrup: Add 1 cup demerara sugar and 1/2 cup water into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add 2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder and the peel from 1 large orange. Stir until cocoa powder is dissolved, and allow to steep until cool. Strain out solids. Will keep refrigerated in an airtight container for up to one week.

Things are going to be different this time around.

Last time, they created J6 and C19 to justify censoring and purging all dissenting voices from the public sphere.

It gave them complete power over all public discourse. Anyone who said anything negative about masks, vaccines, man-made origins of the virus, etc., all of these things would get you banned immediately, under the guise of “public health disinformation”.

They won’t have that luxury this time. Elon is at the helm of public discourse now, and he is keen to their plans. By the public having a platform to discuss freely, the enemy’s mask, vaccine, and pandemic propaganda will not work. Too many voices with global reach are driving the conversation and we are winning the court of public opinion. People aren’t buying the bullshit this time.

Humans have a deep fear of being alone or ostracized. Many wanted to speak out against the bullshit last time, but stayed silent and complied because they didn’t want to be the outcast. Now that truth-tellers have a massive platform and are dominating the public conversation, those who feared to stand up last time will be emboldened to stand up this time, because they do not feel alone.

That’s why each and every one of us has to stand up at every battle we are faced with. No more putting on a mask to appease employers or a public business. No more going along with the official narrative because you are avoiding confrontation. We have to stand up to it everywhere, and our courage will spread to others.

Interestingly, this ‘reversal’ trend doesn’t seem to follow with Crimes Against Children, which is portrayed as very much a conspiracy theory, and not at all something that exists in a widespread, systemic manner.

Anons, Trump and the Q Op have effectively broken the Hegelian Hivemind of the Collectivist Enemy, forcing them into obfuscation of the Truth in such a weaponized, directed manner that they’re now being forced to disclose core Pillars of the System of Systems in order to convince the populace that those reverse-engineering these psychological techniques on Globalist Satanic Pedophiles in favor of the Truth are the bad guys.

How do you think that’s going to work out for them?

– Seized the Collective Mind by becoming the most bipartisan memetic image in American history, with Trump supporters using it as an emblem and a rallying cry, Anons using it as the culmination of years of projections, theorizing and white-pill delivery, Liberals using it to mock, but accidentally making it MORE viral, and Uniparty Establishment Shills pissing themselves with existential dread when gazing upon it.

– Ingratiated Trump to a Black American community that already liked him significantly more than the Establishment Uniparty (Democrats or Republicans) was willing to admit by confirming the fact that said Establishment Uniparty hates HIM almost as much as it hates THEM. (We don’t need everyone to love Trump. We only need them to see him as an enemy of their enemy. Mission accomplished.)

– Set the stage for the Trial of the Century while lending credence to the Disclosure Defense strategy.

Remember … Donald Trump v The Establishment isn’t overshadowing or distracting FROM his 2024 Presidential Campaign.

It IS his Campaign.

DEAR MAGA: TGIF Open Thread 20230825

Undead Gentleman

Ingredients

  • Absinthe blanc, to rinse
  • 1 1/2 ounces blended aged rum (such as Appleton Estate Reserve or The Real McCoy five-year-old)
  • 1 ounce black blended overproof rum (such as Hamilton 151)
  • 1/2 ounce grapefruit juice (white or pink), freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce John D. Taylor’s Velvet falernum
  • 1/2 ounce Smuggler’s Cove cinnamon syrup*
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • Garnish: lime twist
  • Garnish: grapefruit twist

Steps

  1. Rinse a chilled cocktail coupe with absinthe blanc.
  2. Add the blended aged rum, black blended overproof rum, grapefruit juice, lime juice, falernum, cinnamon syrup and bitters into a shaker with cracked or cubed ice and shake until well-chilled.
  3. Double-strain into the prepared glass.
  4. Garnish with intertwined lime and grapefruit twists.

*Smuggler’s Cove cinnamon syrup: Put 2 cups of water in a saucepan. Add 3 halved 6-inch pieces of cinnamon stick to the water, and bring to a boil over high heat. Add 4 cups of granulated sugar and stir with a whisk (or an immersion blender) until dissolved, about 1 minute. The liquid should become clear such that you can see the bottom of the pot. Immediately remove from the heat. Cover and let sit at room temperature for 12 hours. Strain through cheesecloth into a bowl, and then use a funnel to pour into a lidded bottle or other sealable container. The syrup will keep, refrigerated, for several weeks. Makes 4 cups (32 ounces).

JOSHUA 24:1-13

And I gave Esau the hill country of Se’ir to possess, but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt. 5And I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt with what I did in the midst of it; and afterwards I brought you out. 6Then I brought your fathers out of Egypt, and you came to the sea; and the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea. 7And when they cried to the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and made the sea come upon them and cover them; and your eyes saw what I did to Egypt; and you lived in the wilderness a long time. 8Then I brought you to the land of the Amorites, who lived on the other side of the Jordan; they fought with you, and I gave them into your hand, and you took possession of their land, and I destroyed them before you. 9Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel; and he sent and invited Balaam the son of Be’or to curse you, 10but I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he blessed you; so I delivered you out of his hand. 11And you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho, and the men of Jericho fought against you, and also the Amorites, the Per’izzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Gir’gashites, the Hivites, and the Jeb’usites; and I gave them into your hand. 12And I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out before you, the two kings of the Amorites; it was not by your sword or by your bow. 13I gave you a land on which you had not labored, and cities which you had not built, and you dwell therein; you eat the fruit of vineyards and oliveyards which you did not plant.’
