DEAR MAGA: TGIF Open Thread 20220930

Since posting a Hurricane for a cocktail would be in poor taste this week, we’ll go with a tried and true cure for what ails you:

Hot Whiskey

Spike lemon slices with whole cloves. Put in Irish whiskey glass or hot whiskey glass.

Pour in one shot Irish whiskey of choice (other than Powers). Fill the glass the rest of the way with hot water.

So simple, even I can do it.

Okay, here we go:

Sundance didn’t even post anything other than dailies and updates on Thursday. Florida got slammed pretty hard. My own family are all physically safe, but one cousin sustained pretty heavy damage. Please, keep that whole state in prayers.

With that in mind, and that the DePat house had major plumbing work done on Thursday, here we go:

DeSantis: MAGA Understudy or Saboteur?

Having come up through the ranks of the Ron Paul Revolution, I was keenly aware of a system whose entire existence is to perpetuate itself.  Politics has been referred to as theater, and I would consider that an accurate description.  As in theater, politics employs playwrights, directors, actors, stage managers, set designers, etc. We call them by different names, campaign managers, consultants, pollsters, activists, and politicians themselves. The goal of telling a story and arriving at a predetermined resolution aligns.  Nothing is happenstance.

In 2012, Mitt Romney was a made man.  Before he ever declared his candidacy, he was crowned the frontrunner by a captured press. They sold the public on the foregone conclusion that an LDS candidate from deep blue Massachusetts was the most electable candidate in the deep red Bible belt.  Having squeaked Romney through the 2012 primaries, the party went out of their way to deny the insurgent Ron Paul a speaking opportunity at the Tampa convention that he had earned utilizing a legitimate delegate acquisition strategy. Then they went out of their way to ensure that it never happens again by changing the game’s rules.  It’s not all that different from what both parties are doing now by trying to change Electoral Act loopholes that Mike Pence claimed didn’t exist in January 2021.

Similarly, Hillary Clinton was a made woman in 2016.  It wasn’t until the contents of her leaked emails and in former DNC chairwoman Donna Brazile’s book, Hacks, that we were made aware of an arrangement to trade the party’s presidential nomination for paying off the DNC’s debts. Favorability extended beyond press coverage and went as far as burying Bernie Sanders’ insurgent campaign. They also notoriously preloaded the Clinton campaign with debate content.

It’s difficult to wrap one’s mind around what happened in 2020, but the post-mortem all but gives up the jig.

The Pandemic was a Grand Rehearsal for the Great Reset

In his new book The Great Reset: Global Elites and the Permanent Lockdown, Marc Morano lays bare how “15 days to slow the spread” was actually “15 days to begin your conditioning to accept a new level of tyranny.”  He shows how the agenda was set decades before the pandemic and was given momentum during the post-9/11 War on Terror.  The signs of long preparation for the Great Reset are now quite evident.  Morano lists them, connecting the dots.

The goal was global governance, carbon taxes, the empowerment of unelected bureaucrats, and the stringent regulation of all human endeavors.  The gospel according to the WEF promises people that “you will own nothing, and you will be happy.”  In Schwab’s characterization of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, our physical, digital, and biological identities will fuse into one.  And in the interest of equity and inclusivity, we will sacrifice property, privacy, and liberty, remaining dependent on and therefore under the control of governments.  Meanwhile, the global elite will wrest ownership of, and power over, everything.  Hundreds of billionaire businessmen, influential financiers, and world leaders are on board with this project.

Morano believes that post-9/11, with the expansion of government powers through the PATRIOT Act, the so-called Global War on Terror (GWOT) evolved into a war against the populations of Western democracies.  Ironically, this war on Islamists produced authoritarian police states that curtailed any criticism of jihadist aspects of Islam, prohibited training of agents on Islamic doctrine, welcomed Muslim Brotherhood operatives into government, and insisted that “Islam is a religion of peace.”

All part and parcel of the same whole, IMO.

Gun Rights Make for Good Manners and Safe Nations

“Woke” culture, such as it is, may be the most parasitic, selfish, and unimpressive shared creed to clog so many human minds.  It offers nothing original or enlightening, artistic or inspiring, but rather picks at the ordinary sores of Western civilization’s profound accomplishments, preaching grievance and spreading acrimony, tunneling through society’s rot much the same way dung beetles feed and breed in chambers of filth.  Since morals, customs, and proper etiquette have been jettisoned so that “woke” scolds may scream and bellyache to the world, these mental gnats believe that “good manners” are archaic social chains from another era, or worse, proof that a racist, patriarchal system of behaviors exists to keep women and minorities under perpetual control.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Is there a reason we don’t learn how to shoot right next to learning to swim and drive?

How about some real history for a change?

Funny what you find out when reading empirical accounts of history rather than the popular narrative.

Regime Media Don’t Want You To Hear About The FBI Raid On A Pro-Life Father

Aconcerned wife’s report of dozens of armed FBI agents descending on her Pennsylvania home Friday to drag her husband, a pro-life Catholic speaker, away in handcuffs in front of their weeping children should have been a sensational national story. But it’s been four days now, and not a single one of the big corporate media outlets has deigned to mention the FBI’s raid on the home of Mark Houck and his family. That’s not a coincidence.

“They had big, huge rifles pointed at Mark and pointed at me and kind of pointed throughout the house,” Mark’s wife, Ryan-Marie Houck, alleged in an interview with LifeSiteNews. What dangerous behavior made Mark a target of such a forceful FBI raid? He is accused of violating the FACE Act (a federal law used to limit the acceptable actions of pro-lifers in front of abortion facilities) because he pushed away a pro-abortion man who was repeatedly harassing Houck’s 12-year-old son, his wife said. A district court threw out the case against him earlier this year, but the FBI picked it up as Attorney General Merrick Garland continues his war on political opponents of the Biden administration’s agenda. Houck could face up to 11 years in prison if convicted.

Absolutely outrageous.

GOP Senators Baffled By Mitt Romney’s Ploy To Oust Mike Lee — And Maybe Thwart A Majority

Republican senators are growing concerned by colleague Mitt Romney’s refusal to help fellow Utah Republican Mike Lee decisively win his re-election campaign — a posture that could potentially keep their party from gaining a majority in the November elections. Unlike every other Republican senator, the 2012 failed Republican presidential candidate is declining to express a preference in Republican Lee’s re-election effort against Democrat-endorsed Evan McMullin.

“I respect [Romney], and I understand that each state has its own dynamics, but I do not understand why he is remaining neutral,” said one Republican senator who asked not to be identified. “Whatever our differences, we all try to support each other around election time.”

Both moderate and conservative senators confirmed the grumbling in the conference. “We should not have to be worried about Utah in any way. I don’t know what he thinks he’s doing, but it’s not going over well, particularly with the [senators] who are up for chairmanships,” said another Republican senator. Neither Lee nor Romney responded to inquiries by press time.

PSALMS 119:9-14

9How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to thy word. 10With my whole heart I seek thee; let me not wander from thy commandments! 11I have laid up thy word in my heart, that I might not sin against thee. 12Blessed be thou, O LORD; teach me thy statutes! 13With my lips I declare all the ordinances of thy mouth. 14In the way of thy testimonies I delight as much as in all riches.

MATTHEW 13:47-52

47“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net which was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind; 48when it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into vessels but threw away the bad. 49So it will be at the close of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous, 50and throw them into the furnace of fire; there men will weep and gnash their teeth. 51“Have you understood all this?” They said to him, “Yes.” 52And he said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.”

Donald Trump and the Future of Western Civilization

The West, in particular the United States, is currently populated with patronizing, oblivious, and callous leaders more concerned about themselves and globalism than the people and the future of their respective countries.  Nor do they acknowledge that Western Civilization, because of its roots in Christianity, has increased freedom, wealth, health, comfort and life expectancy to unprecedented levels throughout the world.

When virtually all Western nations pursue the same ruinous policies, and their ruling classes have the same self-absorbed characteristics, decline and collapse from self-immolation is inevitable.

In the debauched current state of Western Civilization, the sole path of reversing this decline and collapse is for a tenacious and intrepid egalitarian leader from one of the major Western nations to assume the mantle of leadership.  The only experienced and successful current or past leader with these attributes in the West today is Donald Trump, who temporarily stanched and exposed the factors behind the downfall during his four years as president.  With the specter of China/Russia hegemony and the accelerating deterioration of the West looming over the United States and Europe, Trump must seriously consider running for president again in 2024.

Geography would seem to preclude the United States except for the fact the US Navy operates in every ocean in the world with advanced war fighting capabilities. So the list of suspects with the means to destroy Nord Stream is down to the UK, US, Russia, and Germany.

REVELATION 12:7-12

7Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8but they were defeated and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world — he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. 12Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”

I’m just going to go down the line.

American Stasi

The Washington Times noted that Patrick Eddington of the Cato Institute obtained redacted documents showing that U.S. Postal Service inspectors monitored the mail of some American citizens. The impetus for the move? These people were gun rights activists and had issues with the election of Joe Biden. The office spied on gun activists who attended a gathering in Richmond, Va.,  what the Times calls “far-right” groups who went to D.C. after Biden’s election, and even those who gathered to protest the shooting of Breonna Taylor. This particular operation also included digital surveillance through the Internet Covert Operations Program. The documents Eddington obtained showed that the operation in question ran from September 2020 to April 2021. There were disclaimers on the reports that stated that the surveillance was not intended to infringe on anyone’s rights but to give law enforcement intel about potential violent or criminal activity. The post office inspector general said that the moves were outside the scope of law enforcement and may not have had legal approval. The inspectors disagreed. In the interim, the Postal Service has agreed to a full review and to make sure that future surveillance is properly authorized.

We need postal inspectors. Back in the wild west days of the internet, I covered cases in which postal inspectors played key roles in intercepting child pornography and working with local law enforcement to lock up offenders. But the gun-rights activists and politically active Americans who were recently monitored were not doing anything illegal. Distasteful to some, but not illegal.

Why Is The Capitol Police Setting Up Regional Offices Across The Country?

There’s a Reason Conservatives are Becoming Less Tame

Did Obama and his leftist elites bother to talk to the Tea Party about its grievances? Absolutely not. Instead, they called the Tea Party racist. They claimed the Tea Party was a bunch of radical extremists. Then President Obama weaponized the IRS to attack the Tea Party supporters with abusive audits and denied their organizations the non-profit status the tax code said they were entitled to.

The constitutional rights of the Tea Party supporters were under assault. As the attacks escalated, the Tea Party morphed into a movement for constitutional adherence, government accountability, and America first. MAGA was born — though it wasn’t named yet.

And then Donald Trump came down the golden escalator. He didn’t create MAGA. MAGA drafted him. He agreed to fight for constitutional conservatives, and gave their movement a name — Make America Great Again. How very radical.

The movement needed an unapologetic standard bearer to represent them — its own George Patton. Donald Trump became that guy.

The Poisonous Politics of Pejorative

Remember back in the good old days, when our Democratic friends used to obsess about fundamentalists and the Christian Right? How they hated Jerry Falwell and the Moral Majority!

Obviously their concern must have eased up a bit by the time that presidential candidate Barack Obama was making patronizing remarks about “bitter clingers.”

But then, with presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016, we learned all about the “deplorables.” Shall we rehearse her comments one more time?

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it.

Bless her heart.

Bless her heart indeed.

Red wave … or tyranny?

The midterm elections of 2022 are just around the proverbial corner. Will the long-predicted “red wave” come to fruition? Based on every piece of evidence, it should. Based on what has transpired over the past two years, it should. If everyone asks themselves, “Am I better off now than I was two years ago,” it damn well should. Logically, it is virtually certain to be the case.

However, unfortunately, a significant percentage of the electorate aren’t logical or rational. Ergo, even though many Democrats have revealed themselves to be clinically insane, that has not proven to be a deal breaker to the low information, highly entitled voter. And never underestimate Republicans’ ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of almost certain victory. Or Democrats’ ability to manipulate, project, rig, and gaslight.

These facts led me to ruminate a bit, and here is some of what I noted: every election that Democrats lose is an obvious, a priori instance of fraud, malfeasance, and Russian collusion. (So they claim.) These blatantly stolen elections have tragically and adversely affected the fortunes of Al Gore (think Florida), Hillary Clinton and Stacey Abrams, to name only a few.

What Does Fidelity to Our Founding Principles Require Today?

We’re all political people here, right? So we all know Senator Pat Geary? No?

He’s the Nevada senator portrayed at the beginning of “Godfather II.” He tells Michael Corleone, “I intend to speak very frankly to you—maybe more frankly than anyone in my position’s ever talked to you.” He tries to blackmail a mob boss and later ends up in bed with a dead hooker. I believe he was also a Democrat. So just about the only thing I have in common with Senator Geary is that I intend to speak very frankly to you.

What does fidelity to our founding principles require today? Let me begin to answer that question with a quote—perhaps a familiar quote to some or most of you. But it’s apt, and there’s always a chance some of you haven’t heard it, and/or that others can use a refresher.

The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected. Even when the revolutionist might himself repent of his revolution, the traditionalist is already defending it as part of his tradition. Thus we have two great types—the advanced person who rushes us into ruin, and the retrospective person who admires the ruins. He admires them especially by moonlight, not to say moonshine. Each new blunder of the progressive or prig becomes instantly a legend of immemorial antiquity for the snob. This is called the balance, or mutual check, in our Constitution.

Those words were spoken by G.K. Chesterton, a Brit, in 1924. He was speaking of the British Constitution, not ours. But the words strike me as especially apt to our situation.

A Bitter Pill for the Silent Majority

Every time you’ve allowed fear to control what you did or didn’t say; what they did or didn’t do was a win for progressivism. Because of that, you are part of the reason our country is in the shape that it’s in and it’s about time that you take responsibility for that. Now, wash that down and think about what you can do every day starting now to change that.

Believe me, it hasn’t been easy being called the names I’ve been called because of my politics. It wasn’t easy being the only person not wearing a mask in a store. It wasn’t easy being called a grandma killer because I chose to read the science myself and came to believe in the power of my immune system over taking a rushed vaccine. I know that simply believing in freedom and loving America is enough to set some people off, and I am comfortable in the knowledge that I am the opposite of everything I’ve been called. In fact, the hateful words of our political adversaries have been lost on me. They’ve been used as a weapon to silence me, and others like me, so much that they’ve lost all meaning.

Matt Gaetz Says RINO’s and GOP Elites Are Already Planning Business as Usual if Republicans Take the House (VIDEO)

Feckless GOP’s “Commitment to America” Is So Weak They Should Have Named it, “Hey, At Least We’re Not Democrats”

I can already hear the chorus of rebukes from those who claim to be “conservative” or “populist” but who are really just straight-ticket Republicans. “Don’t sacrifice the good to chase the perfect,” someone will say. Someone else will chime in with, “Weak Republican policies are better than strong Democrat policies.” Still, others will say, “You’re probably a Democrat pretending to be a Republican.”

In reality, I don’t pretend to be a Republican. I’m an America First patriot, and while I never have and never will vote for a Democrat, there are a whole bunch of Republicans on Capitol Hill who hasn’t done anything to earn my vote, either.

He’s Still the One

Only Trump defied the deep state empowered by his Republican predecessors. Only Trump has broken from the disastrous foreign policy championed by the conservative movement. Only Trump has taken on the mania for free trade and outsourcing. No other figure of the right has shown the same willingness to break with his own side’s orthodoxies.

Trump’s opponents on the right often describe themselves as “principled” conservatives. But this is no cause for boasting when one’s principles are bankrupt. The policies pursued by GOP elites since the Reagan era had plunged the nation into costly wars while accelerating the decline of the middle class. Trump promised to punish the architects of these failures. His rhetoric evoked the party’s older Eisenhower-Nixon tradition, which made peace with the New Deal and pursued realism and restraint abroad.

“Trump resisted the security apparatus.”

Trump resisted the security apparatus, which sought to keep him from office and then to remove him from it. He also disrupted the broad trend toward depoliticization. From immigration to transnational governance, elites in the years before Trump had removed fundamentally political questions from the realm of political contestation. Voters’ voices on these issues mattered far less than the determinations of elites wielding market rationality and supposedly non-political “expertise”—which just happened to serve their own interests. Trump’s rise promised a return of the political as such. So would his second term.

Trump also exposed the carnage caused by the neoliberal turn in American political economy and the neoconservative turn in foreign policy. For starters, there was the disaster of the post-9/11 wars, which most Republicans defended to the hilt—until Trump came around. “Obviously, the war in Iraq is a big, fat mistake,” Trump declared at a primary debate in South Carolina in 2016. “We have destabilized the Middle East.” The right’s foreign-policy experts were aghast. Yet Trump channeled the anger of military families and millions of others wondering what, exactly, the sacrifice had been for.

What Are The Odds? Census Mistakes Overwhelmingly Benefit Democrats

A recent bombshell report reveals that U.S. census errors could provide significant and unfair advantages for Democrats in future elections, so naturally America’s corporate media have chosen to let those errors quietly slide.

Back in May, the U.S. Census Bureau released findings from its 2020 Post-Enumeration Survey (PES), a survey in which “the Census Bureau interviews a sampling of households across the country and then compares the results with actual responses from those households in the original 2020 Census records.” As noted by the Census Bureau, the results of the survey “cannot be used to change the final census count.”

While the agency found that the 2020 Census counts for 36 states and Washington D.C. were generally accurate, it also discovered that there were population undercounts in six states and overcounts in eight. When analyzing the states where significant counting errors were made, however, a startling pattern begins to emerge.

As detailed in the report, the six states that experienced population undercounts were Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas. All but one (Illinois) of these states voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 and 2020 elections and could be considered reliably Republican jurisdictions.

JOB 9:1-12, 14-16

1Then Job answered: 2“Truly I know that it is so: But how can a man be just before God? 3If one wished to contend with him, one could not answer him once in a thousand times. 4He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength — who has hardened himself against him, and succeeded? — 5he who removes mountains, and they know it not, when he overturns them in his anger; 6who shakes the earth out of its place, and its pillars tremble; 7who commands the sun, and it does not rise; who seals up the stars; 8who alone stretched out the heavens, and trampled the waves of the sea; 9who made the Bear and Orion, the Plei’ades and the chambers of the south; 10who does great things beyond understanding, and marvelous things without number. 11Lo, he passes by me, and I see him not; he moves on, but I do not perceive him. 12Behold, he snatches away; who can hinder him? Who will say to him, `What doest thou’? 14How then can I answer him, choosing my words with him? 15Though I am innocent, I cannot answer him; I must appeal for mercy to my accuser. 16If I summoned him and he answered me, I would not believe that he was listening to my voice.

PSALMS 88:10-15

9my eye grows dim through sorrow. Every day I call upon thee, O LORD; I spread out my hands to thee. 10Dost thou work wonders for the dead? Do the shades rise up to praise thee? [Selah] 11Is thy steadfast love declared in the grave, or thy faithfulness in Abaddon? 12Are thy wonders known in the darkness, or thy saving help in the land of forgetfulness? 13But I, O LORD, cry to thee; in the morning my prayer comes before thee. 14O LORD, why dost thou cast me off? Why dost thou hide thy face from me?

LUKE 9:57-62

57As they were going along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” 58And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.” 59To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 60But he said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61Another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” 62Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

As always, prayers for the fight against that which seeks to enslave us are welcome.

It is quite clear, as per Wolf’s message from July, that we are under spiritual attack. Building up a robust arsenal of prayer and discipline is a must in fighting the enemy and his minions.

In that spirit, the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel from Tuesday’s threads, and the Breastplate of St. Patrick, not to mention the Litany of Humility are favorites recommended by exorcists in spiritual warfare.

FBI Storms Convent To Arrest Group Of Dangerous Pro-Life Extremists

BOSTON, MA — Chaos erupted at a local convent yesterday as a team of FBI agents aggressively stormed the building in the early morning hours. Sources say they had received multiple reports of it being a gathering place for a large group of dangerous, right-wing, pro-life extremists.

“We have been surveilling this terrorist organization’s hideout for several weeks and simply felt it was far too dangerous to allow them to continue meeting,” said Special Agent Josh Christophersen, who led the raid. “Allowing these types of devious extremist groups to fester is just too great of a risk.”

The FBI strike team, wearing tactical gear and carrying automatic weapons, used flash-bang grenades and tear gas to breach the doors of the convent before shouting orders and violently wrestling the building’s occupants to the ground. As the dust settled, it quickly became evident that this anti-abortion, conservative hate group was, in fact, the gathering of elderly catholic nuns who live at the convent.

Though questions were being raised about the use of excessive force against a group of old ladies, the FBI was quick to defend itself and its mission. “What do you want us to do? Let these dangerous people keep plotting to overthrow our democracy?” said FBI spokesperson Judah Powers at a press conference following the raid. “These people don’t believe women should be allowed to dismember and murder their own babies. The next thing you know, they’ll be disagreeing with performing gender reassignment surgeries on grade schoolers.”

Just one question…nuns in Boston? That was the first city to have issues.

Cthulhu made that one.

There’s a new JP, but I gotta save something for tomorrow.

Russia gives citizenship to ex-NSA contractor Edward Snowden

A decree signed Monday by Russian President Vladimir Putin listed Snowden as one of 75 foreign citizens listed as being granted Russian citizenship. After fleeing the U.S. in 2013, Snowden was granted permanent Russian residency in 2020 and said at the time that he planned to apply for Russian citizenship without renouncing his U.S. citizenship….

While Snowden, 39, is considered by supporters to be a righteous whistleblower who wanted to protect American civil liberties, U.S. intelligence officials have accused him of putting U.S. personnel at risk and damaging national security. He currently faces charges in the United States that could result in decades in prison.

“Our position has not changed,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said Monday. “Mr. Snowden should return to the United States where he should face justice as any other American citizen would.”

Never forget: President Trump did not pardon him.

Horowitz: What is strategically missing from the GOP ‘Commitment to America’

In order to ascertain whether the GOP is really committed to the right solutions and policy ideas, one first needs to glean from the preamble of the party’s plan whether Republicans fully understand the ailment that plagues our government. But from reading the document, one gets the impression that this could have been written in the 1980s or in any other era. “We have a recession and a bad economy with inflation, along with too much crime. We need pro-growth policies that empower small businesses, and we love the police and want you to feel safe.”

OK, that’s not exactly what they wrote, but that is the takeaway. As if this is all within the realm of normal, we’ve experienced this morass before, and we have the same solutions as yesteryear, albeit peppered with a couple of unique buzz phrases of the time, like “investigate China,” “big tech censorship,” and men in female sports.

There is no recognition whatsoever that this is the Fourth Reich, the economic collapse is not by accident, and that we have suffered through the greatest tyranny and civilization destruction of all time. That is to say, the biggest omission from this document is COVID fascism. It’s as if the past two and a half years never occurred. There was no throwaway line even nodding toward banning all mandates, much less reviewing the genocide of gain-of-function research, dangerous vaccines, ending the PREP Act and immunity for pharma, and making sure this can never happen again. There was no recognition that the inflation is a result of the policies from COVID, which the GOP collaborated with. There is also no acknowledgement that the energy crisis is not just about inflation, but about building on the COVID lockdowns and social control to impose an equivalent scenario with energy and food.

Having met the subject of this raid some years ago now – nice, dedicated guy – this is just inexcusable no matter the flavor of faith.

The FBI Is Sending a Message to Pro-Life Catholics

Mark Houck is the founder of The King’s Men, a ministry that strives to help men to live virtuously and free from pornography. Each week he also prays in front of a Planned Parenthood in Philadelphia, sometimes bringing his 12-year-old son with him. On numerous occasions, one of the pro-abortion “escorts” directed vile and vulgar comments at the boy and came very close to him in doing so. Houck, after repeated warnings to the man, eventually pushed him away, which led to a lawsuit that was thrown out in the district court of Philadelphia.

That should have been the end of the story. However, the Department of Justice got involved, charging Houck with violations against the FACE Act, one of the most evil (and tragically, most effective) pieces of legislation in American history. FACE (Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances) was enacted in 1994 in response to the growing—and effective—rescue movement….

But of course pro-lifers did not give up. We continued to work for the end of abortion and the saving of babies, and those efforts eventually led to the Dobbs decision which overturned Roe v. Wade. Needless to say, the pro-abortion forces of darkness did not take that lightly, and here is their response: full-scale persecution of pro-life activists, given a legal veneer by the FACE Act.

Some pro-lifers are arguing that Mr. Houck should not have pushed the pro-abortion attacker down, or should not even have been there, but that misses the point completely. First, a father has a right and a duty to protect his children. If you move this exact same situation to another location, say, at a ballgame with a drunk fan harassing your child, then everyone would agree (and the law would support) that a father can take this action.

Further, if pro-lifers simply stop praying and counseling at abortion clinics because of the potential for such encounters, then the pro-aborts will have already won. They purposefully instigate these scenarios to make us afraid to come. But if we give in to our fear, then the babies will have no one to speak for them.

A New Counterculture?

Back in April, an article by James Pogue in Vanity Fair revealed the emergence of a collection of “podcasters, bro-ish anonymous Twitter posters, online philosophers, artists, and amorphous scenesters”—sometimes called “‘dissidents,’ ‘neo-reactionaries,’ ‘post-leftists,’ or the ‘heterodox’ fringe . . . all often grouped for convenience under the heading of America’s New Right”—who represented the “seam of a much larger and stranger political ferment, burbling up mainly within America’s young and well-educated elite.”

That last bit about the demographics of this so-called New Right may have been what got the Times’ attention. But Pogue had even more striking news: these dissidents, he wrote, had established “a position that has become quietly edgy and cool in new tech outposts like Miami and Austin, and in downtown Manhattan, where New Right–ish politics are in, and signifiers like a demure cross necklace have become markers of a transgressive chic.” This may have been the most alarming news of all for the paper of record: somehow, traditionalist right-wing conservatism had perhaps become cool.

America’s dwindling Christian population

When Time magazine’s 1966 cover asked, “Is God Dead?” many cheerfully shouted “YES!”, but they had no idea what they were cheering. God is not dead. He is very much alive and doing what He does — He acts. He has kept America alive as a free nation for now. God is not only not dead, He is not inactive either. But He is cheesed off. We kicked him out of schools, out of the public square, out of businesses, and even out of Churches in some cases. There will be judgment.

I wouldn’t presume to speak for God, but according to a number of reported Marian Apparitions, this is correct.

Virtue Can’t Be Learned from Devices

If a core purpose of education is to help students become virtuous—intellectually and morally—then we must ask whether virtue can be learned virtually. We are not aware of any studies that even ask this crucial question. But if virtue cannot be acquired virtually, then the technological changes rationalized by the pandemic ought to be rejected.

Schools predictably adopted digital technologies to set up virtual classrooms because the standard crisis management playbook prioritizes operational recovery—i.e., restoring some version of the status quo ante. But amid the scramble for operational recovery, the educational mission and values of many schools were lost in the fog. With all the pressure to get back to delivering educational content, and to keep children occupied so parents could work from home, some schools lost sight of their core purpose—fostering intellectual and moral excellence, that is, virtue.

1 CORINTHIANS 1:26-31

26For consider your call, brethren; not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth; 27but God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong, 28God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. 30He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom, our righteousness and sanctification and redemption; 31therefore, as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast of the Lord.”

PSALMS 112:1-9

1Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments! 2His descendants will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3Wealth and riches are in his house; and his righteousness endures for ever. 4Light rises in the darkness for the upright; the LORD is gracious, merciful, and righteous. 5It is well with the man who deals generously and lends, who conducts his affairs with justice. 6For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered for ever. 7He is not afraid of evil tidings; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. 8His heart is steady, he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire on his adversaries. 9He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever; his horn is exalted in honor.

RALLY THREAD: Save America – Wilmington, NC, September 23, 2022

About Wilmington:

History

The city was founded in the 1730s, and after going through a series of different names (New Carthage, New London, Newton), its name became Wilmington in 1740,[21] named after Spencer Compton, 1st Earl of Wilmington.[21]

The area along the river had been inhabited by various successive cultures of indigenous peoples for thousands of years. At the time of European encounter, historic Native Americans were members of tribes belonging to the Eastern Siouan family.[22]

The ethnic European and African history of Wilmington spans more than two and a half centuries. In the early 16th century, Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano commissioned by the king of France with a French crew was reportedly the first European to see this area, including the city’s present site. The first permanent colonial settlement in the area was established in the 1720s by European settlers.[22] In September 1732, a community was founded on land owned by John Watson on the Cape Fear River, at the confluence of its northwest and northeast branches.[23] The settlement, founded by the first royal governor, George Burrington, was called “New Carthage,” and then “New Liverpool;” it gradually took on the name “New Town” or “Newton”.[24] Governor Gabriel Johnston soon after established his government there for the North Carolina colony. In 1739 or 1740, the town was incorporated with a new name, Wilmington, in honor of Spencer Compton, Earl of Wilmington.[25]

Some early settlers of Wilmington came from the Albemarle and Pamlico regions, as well as from the colonies of Virginia and South Carolina, but most new settlers migrated from the Northern colonies, the West Indies, and Northern Europe.[26] Many of the early settlers were indentured servants from Northern Europe. As the indentured servants gained their freedom and fewer could be persuaded to travel to North America because of improving conditions back home, the settlers imported an increasing number of slaves to satisfy the labor demand.[24] By 1767, African slaves accounted for more than 62% of the population of the Lower Cape Fear region.[27] Many worked in the port as laborers, and some in ship-related trades.

Naval stores and lumber fueled the region’s economy, both before and after the American Revolution. During the Revolutionary War, the British maintained a garrison at Fort Johnston near Wilmington.[28]

Due to Wilmington’s commercial importance as a major port, it had a critical role in opposition to the British in the years leading up to the Revolution. The city had outspoken political leaders who influenced and led the resistance movement in North Carolina. The foremost of these was Wilmington resident Cornelius Harnett, who served in the General Assembly at the time, where he rallied opposition to the Sugar Act in 1764. When the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act the following year, designed to raise revenue for the Crown with a kind of tax on shipping, Wilmington was the site of an elaborate demonstration against it.[29]

On October 19, 1765, several hundred townspeople gathered in protest of the new law, burned an effigy of one town resident who favored the act, and toasted to “Liberty, Property, and No Stamp Duty.” On October 31, another crowd gathered in a symbolic funeral of “Liberty”. But before the effigy was buried, Liberty was found to have a pulse, and celebration ensued.[30][31]

The 22nd was a family event day, so this is going to be a bit light. But, still….

Talking Points Will Not Fix the Border Crisis

In repeated interviews, speeches, and testimonies before Congress, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has insisted that our border with Mexico is closed and secure. He makes these statements even as one of his own agencies, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), released data showing more than 2 million illegal border crossings in the current fiscal year—a record. Such blatant disregard for the facts and the failure to execute the requirements of his position are the driving forces behind the growing support in Congress to impeach Mayorkas in the coming year.

Like Mayorkas, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also insists that the border is secure. When asked by reporters to address the border crisis, she dogmatically reads verbatim talking points from a binder and rarely answers the question asked. On how the border is secure, Jean-Pierre responds that the administration has “secured record levels of funding” for the leviathan DHS.

On the topic of a border wall, Jean-Pierre and other White House apparatchiks are quick to respond that the administration has instead made investments in technology at the border. While there is certainly a role for many forms of technology assets at the border, immigration enforcement professionals have consistently asked for a significant, permanent barrier system at key points along the 1,954-mile southern border.

Americans First

Don’t listen when the Left cries they need more money to help out those struggling Americans back home.

The Coming Austerity Crisis

The U.S. government’s debt is 150 percent of the gross domestic product. The current inflation is just the first problem caused by the debt. If deficit spending continues, soon high interest rates and the decline of U.S. debt credit will follow. Instead of incrementally fixing the problem, austerity economics will be the outcome. The Greeks went through it in 2007 and 2008, and they will be the first to tell you it was no fun. Congress, and especially during sessions with Democratic majorities, bears much of the blame for this.

The Paradox of Populist Foreign Policy in Asia

Modi and Abe are examples of a kind of politics supporters of the “America First” movement will recognize: one that advocates strengthening the nation’s reputation abroad by aggressively asserting its interests and refusing to countenance those who insist it should feel guilt over past, or even ongoing, actions. More recently, South Korea’s Yoon rode a wave of youth discontent, promising to assert Korea’s growing influence, praising right-wing strongmen of the past, and tackling the influence of both China and feminism. All three leaders—Abe, Modi, and Yoon—count among their domestic critics groups America Firsters will recognize: progressive politicians, liberal media institutions, and feminists.

While supporters of former president Trump may sense camaraderie with these three leaders, and share similar views of China’s rise, they must also be ready for a potential outcome that may not be to their liking. Good working relations between a future America First president and likeminded leadership in Tokyo, Delhi, and Seoul may lead to further American commitments in world affairs, including militarily and financially. An important consideration, especially as the definition of America First will be contested between now and the 2024 Republican nomination.

How to Break the Two-Party System

George Washington was not a party man.

In his Farewell Address, he warned that the political parties are “truly the worst enemy” of popular government. They are a “frightful despotism” built on the “ruins of popular liberty.” They are animated by a “spirit of revenge.” They are “baneful.” Worst of all, the party system “opens the door to foreign influence and corruption.”

1For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: 2a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; 3a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. 9What gain has the worker from his toil? 10I have seen the business that God has given to the sons of men to be busy with. 11He has made everything beautiful in its time; also he has put eternity into man’s mind, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

Disney Chooses Bald Actress To Play Rapunzel In Live-Action Remake

U.S. — Disney has chosen a bald actress to play Rapunzel in the upcoming live-action remake of Tangled. Director Guy Ritchie announced the casting at a press conference alongside Disney CEO Bob Chapek.

“We are thrilled to have this mega-talented bald actress joining us to star in this film,” said Ritchie. “She has long been an outspoken advocate for the alopecia community and we know she’ll lend her unique lived experience as a person of baldness to the iconic role of Rapunzel.”

Several fans were upset with the casting, pointing out that the actress is bald, while Rapunzel has hair. “I’m all for diversity,” said Disney fan Janet Cutler. “My pronouns are Xe / Xer. But this is a bit too far. Rapunzel is supposed to have hair. It’s sort of core to the entire story.”

Another Disney fan echoed the sentiment. “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair,” said Disney fan Andrew Steeplechase. “That’s one of the key quotes in the story. I’m not sure that works as well with a bald Rapunzel.”

Have a great weekend.

DEAR MAGA: Open Thread 20220922

Yes, it’s Thursday again. What’s brewing out there on the internet other than President Trump being prosecuted for crimes that probably don’t exist? Well, Matt Walsh did some actual journalism, it got a lot of attention, and now the state of Tennessee has Vanderbilt’s medical system in the crosshairs.

First, the segment of the podcast that stirred the pot.

Of course, pushback and abuse started.

And then darkness descended.

At the same time, the Governor of Tennessee spoke out.

And action ensued:

This is what happens when journalism works like it is supposed to.

Good job, Mr. Walsh.

Hence why hospitals need to return to being true charities instead of charities in name only, if not straight up profit centers.

On to everything else:

The Walk of Faith in These Uncertain Times

The desert experience is actually a blessing. We don’t want to stay in that place, that’s why the longing is there, the hope… but just because that desire is there, it does not mean we cannot find some level of rest in the tension. God is with you in every step of your journey so fully. He is attentive to you specifically. He keeps close tabs on the flowers and birds. How much more so will He not lovingly watch over you and guide you.

But how could you go back to being asleep or not believing for justice now that you’ve woken up? You are stuck in a rock and a hard place. You are living outside of the Matrix on some level, you are having to live as a wanderer rather than feel at home in the facade that is Babylon. You are Neo living in the barren wasteland of the ship, eating food that does not taste delicious but it is real and you are officially in the fight.

Legendary ‘Cheers’ Actor Says ‘Last People’ He Would Trust With His Health Is ‘Big Pharma and Big Government’

Legendary “Cheers” actor Woody Harrelson told Bill Maher the “last people” he would trust with his own health is “Big Pharma and Big Government” — and he explained why.

During the 61-year-old actor’s appearance on the “Club Random with Bill Maher” podcast Sunday, the TV actor and host discussed the response to the COVID-19 pandemic over the last two-plus years. The two agreed that trusting the pharmaceutical companies and government rather than a person’s own doctor is bizarre.  The host asked his guest would it be that crazy that the pharma industry wouldn’t say advocate for “more boosters than were necessary” for profit?

The Babylon Bee has big plans for Twitter

The Babylon Bee is one of America’s best news outlets. Sure, technically it’s satire, but it has an unerring knack for going straight to the heart of an issue and teasing out what’s important. In my book, that makes it a lot more useful than the New York Times or the Washington Post. Plus, the articles are better written too. Now, we have a new reason to like the Bee: Following the Fifth Circuit’s decision holding that HB 20, the Texas law prohibiting social media viewpoint discrimination, the Bee’s CEO, Seth Dillon, is promising to go after Twitter for banning it from the platform.

The Fifth Circuit accepted the theory that the social media outlets have moved into the status of common carriers because they are the primary means by which most Americans obtain and share information. That means that they can no longer hide behind the claim that, as private corporations, they can do whatever they want.

Who’s the Real Boss at the FDA?

When Patrizia Cavazzoni used to work at Pfizer, she reported to the pharmaceutical behemoth’s chief executive. Since she started working at the FDA, it’s hard to see what’s changed. As the director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) at the regulatory agency, Cavazzoni knows that Pfizer and its peer institutions keep the lights on at the FDA.

The Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA), signed into law during the final months of the George H.W. Bush administration, permits departments within the FDA such as CDER to collect funds known as user fees from drug manufacturers seeking the approval legally required to market their products. For perspective, 65 percent of CDER’s $1 billion annual budget comes from user fees.

BlackRock CEO says the crisis in the price of energy is accelerating investment in green energy

The CEO of the BlackRock investment firm said that skyrocketing energy prices are shrinking the “green premium” and causing more investment to flow into green energy sources.

Larry Fink was being interviewed by former President Bill Clinton as part of the Clinton Global Initiative when he made the comments in defense of ESG environmental scoring.

“Because of the rise in energy prices, we are certainly seeing the green premium shrink quite considerably,” said Fink.

“And so the amount of investment dollars that are going into new decarbonization technologies is accelerating, and they are accelerating very rapidly,” he added.

Only because it’s a manufactured crisis to benefit [the rat] Fink’s company.

Fauci Justifies Using School Kids as Collateral Damage for COVID Shutdowns

“Sometimes when you do draconian things, it has collateral negative consequences. Just like when you shut things down, even temporarily, it does have deleterious consequences on the economy, on the school children, you know that, but you have to make a balance,” Fauci said.

I’ll say it again, stake him out next to a nest of fire ants.

Putin’s Address: Approaching the Precipice

“The subject of this address is the situation in Donbass and the course of the special military operation to liberate it from the neo-Nazi regime, which seized power in Ukraine in 2014 as the result of an armed state coup.”

Putin doesn’t beat around the bush. He comes out firing against the “Neo-Nazi regime” and the violent coup started in 2014. A coup that was facilitated by Obama and then Vice President Biden at the time. This is why Biden continues to send hundreds of billions of dollars to Ukraine. They are protecting their Deep State proxy.

This is why you see China and Russia in the news making joint statements about preventing “Western Colour Revolutions2. Russia are fighting back against the US proxy Ukraine, and now China looking to remove US influence in Taiwan. The East are standing up to the West.

Citadel Investment Boss Ken Griffin Previously Gave DeSantis $10 Million, Today Says He Would Accept Position as Treasury Secretary

Is that all it takes?

Sundance put this out, and what I would like to know is who dug the letter out of the pile of Obama docs. I have a feeling someone knew what they were looking for, and where to find it since the physical stuff is still in storage, and likely has not been archived by professionals or indexed. Whoever found this, knew where to look in the digital documents.

Letter Surfaces of Obama Foundation Admitting in 2018 They Keep Classified Documents in Unsecured Storage at Furniture Warehouse

Hoffman Estates” is a Chicago area location containing an abandoned furniture store and warehouse.  The Obama Foundation leased, then re-upped the lease, to use the facility to store all the paper documents from the Obama administration {Location Link}.

The Obama administration told the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) they were going to upload the documents into a digital form for use in the Obama library.  The paper documents were, still are, held at the Hoffman Estate warehouse while this digitization process took place.  It should be noted, the Obama Foundation has never digitized the records, hence they renewed the warehouse lease….

Once again, to hopefully save the time of responding to DC inquiry, all of this information is open-source discovery.  It exists in the vast space of the internet and this letter itself is found in the archives of the Obama Foundation itself.

ECCLESIASTES 1:2-11

2Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity. 3What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun? 4A generation goes, and a generation comes, but the earth remains for ever. 5The sun rises and the sun goes down, and hastens to the place where it rises. 6The wind blows to the south, and goes round to the north; round and round goes the wind, and on its circuits the wind returns. 7All streams run to the sea, but the sea is not full; to the place where the streams flow, there they flow again. 8All things are full of weariness; a man cannot utter it; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. 9What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; and there is nothing new under the sun. 10Is there a thing of which it is said, “See, this is new”? It has been already, in the ages before us. 11There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of later things yet to happen among those who come after.

Dear KAG: 20220921 Open Thread

Let’s see what is in the tabs:

Jim Jordan Outlines Claims by FBI Whistleblower

George Soros: The Man Behind The Curtain

Billionaire George Soros is that rare megalomaniac who not only believes he’s a god but revels in behaving like one. “It’s a sort of a disease when you consider yourself some kind of god, the creator of everything, but I feel comfortable about it now since I began to live it out,” he once boasted to The Independent.

This god complex, combined with his downright amorality and bizarre ideas about society, makes the 92-year-old extremely dangerous to democracies, especially America. The warning comes loud and clear in Matt Palumbo’s recent book, The Man Behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network of George Soros, which documents Soros’sdecades of financial dealings, political operations, and nefarious networks.

Not sure I really want to put that on my “to be read” list, but the documentation is important.

Shades of Mengele

The late Dr. Vladimir Zelenko referred to the COVID jab as “poison death liquid.”  Zelenko pointed out that, in 1976, “the swine flu vaccine killed 26 people.  The entire program was scrubbed.”  In the fall of 2021 when Zelenko spoke out, the VAERS database reported upwards of 16,310 deaths due to the COVID shot. So, why is it that — long after these grave consequences came to light — Fauci still saw fit to promote this poison death shot?

Dr. Fauci falsely claimed that Hydroxychloroquine was ineffective against SARS-CoV-2 (aka COVID-19), although his own National Institute of Health’s Virology Journal published a renowned article, in 2005, stating “that chloroquine has strong antiviral effects on SARS-CoV infection of primate cells….”  The NIH verified that Fauci “ranked thirteenth among the most-cited authors from 1983 to 2002 among the several million authors in all science fields,” so it would be difficult to believe that such a notable virologist as he could be ignorant of the important facts reported by the famed article.  Because the SARS-CoV-2 virus (aka COVID-19) shares 79% of its genome with SARS-CoV-1, both viruses use the same host cell receptor to gain entry to a victim’s cells.  Thus, Hydroxychloroquine, a milder form of Chloroquine, has proven to be effective against COVID-19.  It is import to note that Fauci likewise denounced Ivermectin, another cure for COVID, calling it “horse paste” — although it is common knowledge globally that Ivermectin, like Hydroxychloroquine, has the power to cure COVID-19.

The upshot of the growing awareness that two effective therapeutics for the treatment of COVID preexisted the pandemic is that people are now realizing that the jab was manifestly unnecessary, and that the government’s war on Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin caused a fatal crisis of major proportions.

That may well be the ONLY upshot.

Lindsey Graham’s Abortion Ban Is Good Politics

No one respects a coward. The electorate knows that the conservative movement achieved its biggest victory in generations when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade this summer. Doesn’t it look awfully suspicious to ignore the elephant in the room? Silence on abortion has helped Democrats paint Republicans as reactionary extremists with something to hide. What kind of message does that send to moderates? And what message does it send to conservatives that Republicans think it’s too controversial to defend something as reasonable as a 15-week abortion ban?

What are Republicans afraid will happen? When exceptions for rape and incest are included, a ban on abortion after 15 weeks is popular. As Graham mentioned, it’s a policy in alignment with much of the Western world, and it acknowledges the reality that babies at this stage of development feel pain. These are points that will resonate with people of conscience and goodwill.

If you listen carefully, you can actually hear whispers of concern from the Left about Graham’s bill. Why? They know that if they push back too hard, voters will realize that it is the Democrats who are outside the mainstream.

Graham’s proposal is only “extreme” to those who think any restriction on abortion is beyond the pale. To normal people, the Democratic Party’s official (if implicit) position of unlimited abortion-on-demand is repugnant. Democrats know this, which is why they resort to euphemisms like “women’s health care” and “choice” to describe what they support. They are never challenged with defending their real views because the media covers for them, even as Republicans are burdened with defending the most stringent restrictions around the country. It’s unfair, but it’s how the game is played.

The Numbers, Please

Have you ever watched TV, streamed Netflix, paged through a magazine or viewed a commercial advertisement and thought something seemed out of whack? Why is everything portrayed as so, well . . .  gay, lesbian, black, and as if America had instantly and forever, completely changed. Why have these demographic misperceptions been used to fuel media and political hate mongering?

A recent YouGov poll asked people to look in the mirror, asking how they envision the country.

It turns out Americans vastly overestimate the size of all minority groups, representing an over-scaling problem for which there should be some accounting.

The ‘Print the Legend’ Obsession

The Left has controlled the media for so long it now believes it can rewrite history with impunity. It is this mindset that is a primary motivation for their actions toward Donald Trump, as it had been previously regarding Ronald Reagan, and the countless other victims of “all the news that’s fit to print.”

WHEN A MONARCH DIES

WHAT THE AFTERMATH OF QUEEN ELIZABETH’S DEATH TELLS US ABOUT 2022 BRITAIN

No, We’re Not Trying to Impress the Left

Have you ever noticed that, as a conservative, the moment you deviate from the prevailing conservative talking points, you are accused of being weak? Or of trying to appear woke? Or of seeking to impress the left? Or of caving in to pressure? Could it be that, instead, you have the courage to buck the tide and be true to your convictions, regardless of the flak?

DeSantis Says Moving Migrants Exposed Democrat ‘Virtue-Signaling’ – Border Now ‘Front-Burner Issue’

DeSantis said, “You had millions of people since Biden has been president, illegally coming across the Southern border. Did they freak out on that? No. You have had migrants die in the Rio Grande. You had 50 die in Texas a trailer because they were neglected. Was there a freak-out about that? No. You’ve had criminal aliens get across that southern border and victimize Americans, killing some, raping some. Was there any type of outrage about that? No. And then, of course, we know fentanyl deaths are at an all-time high.”

He continued, “It is only when 50 get put into Martha’s Vineyard, which wasn’t saying they didn’t want this, they said they wanted this. They said they are a sanctuary jurisdiction. These are people who were basically destitute and then put in a situation where they could have succeeded, but that was all virtue-signaling. Not only did they not welcome them, they departed them the next day with the National Guard. Give me a break.”

Did ‘The Simpsons’ predict Queen Elizabeth II’s death?

Videos depicting the Matt Groening-created series’ alleged celebrity death forecast are amassing millions of views with “Simpsons” fans wondering if they’d done it yet again.

“The Simpsons have done it again,” reads the caption to one of the clips on TikTok, which currently boasts over 16.8 million views.

The snippet, posted Sept. 9 by @Moviesandmemes46790, depicts a scene from a Season 15, Episode 4 episode, called “The Regina Monologues,” in which Homer crashes into the Queen’s carriage and knocks it over while the Simpsons are vacationing in London. At the end of the clip, the camera zooms in on a piece of paper that reads 8.9.2022 — the actual date of Her Majesty’s death.

While many “Simpsons” fans believed the show had done it again, other discerning viewers were quick to point out that the date had been edited in, and didn’t actually appear in the original. In fact, the queen never actually died in the episode.

“That date was never in the original. Nice try,” scoffed one skeptic while another wrote, “Yeah nice edit btw. Heads up tho you missed a few frames there.”

New Mexico Students Shutdown Conservative Speaker in Latest Attack on Free Speech

We have seen how in universities (including state schools) this can turn into a type of “heckler’s veto” where speeches are cancelled in advance or terminated suddenly due to the disruption of protesters. The issue is not engaging in protest against such speakers, but to enter events for the purpose of preventing others from hearing such speakers. Universities create forums for the discussion of a diversity of opinions. Entering a classroom or event to prevent others from speaking is barring free speech. I would feel the same way about preventing such people from protests outside such events. However, the concern is not with outdoor events where all groups can be as loud and cantankerous as their voices will bear. Both sides have free speech rights to express. The issue on campus is the entrance into halls, or classrooms to prevent others from hearing speakers or opposing viewpoints by disputing events.

Biden’s attacks on ‘MAGA Republicans’ are falling flat: Harvard poll

Voters also are not buying into Biden’s claims that conservative Republicans want to destroy the country.

“Do you think there are tens of millions of dangerous MAGA Republicans backing violence and trying to overthrow the constitution or is that a gross exaggeration and distortion?” the Harvard poll asked.

While 73 percent of Democrats agreed with that statement, many Republicans and independents did not. Eighty percent of Republicans believed the claim of dangerous Republicans was a gross exaggeration while 58 percent of independents also rejected Biden’s characterization.

Most Republicans and independents also believe the president is demonizing conservatives as a way to avoid talking about “inflation, immigration, crime and other issues.”

OPINION & ANALYSIS

CHRIS HEDGES: STRIKE, STRIKE, STRIKE

The ruling oligarchs are terrified that, for tens of millions of people, the economic dislocation caused by inflation, stagnant wages, austerity, the pandemic and the energy crisis is becoming unendurable.  They warn, as Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and NATO Secretary GeneraJens Stoltenberg, have done, about the potential for social unrest, especially as we head towards winter.

Social unrest is a code word for strikes — the one weapon workers possess that can cripple and destroy the billionaire class’s economic and political power. Strikes are what the global oligarchs fear most. Through the courts and police intervention, they will seek to prevent workers from shutting down the economy. This looming battle is crucial. If we begin to chip away at corporate power through strikes, most of which will probably be wildcat strikes that defy union leadership and anti-union laws, we can begin to regain agency over our lives.

The oligarchs have spent decades abolishing or domesticating unions, turning the few unions that remain — only 10.7 percent of the workforce is unionized — into obsequious junior partners in the capitalist system. As of January 2022, private-sector unionization stood at its lowest point since the passage of the National Labor Relations Act of 1935. And yet, 48 percent of U.S. workers say they would like to belong to a union.

As a result of crushing conditions workers have been subjected to for years, the nation is facing its first major rail strike since the 1990s. The transportation industry, of which most rail workers are a part, has a higher than average union density compared to other parts of the private sector. A rail strike could mean a loss in economic output of $2 billion a day, according to a trade group representing railroad companies.

The Myth of Clean

Clean’, like ‘smart’, has become the prerequisite for all technology. Both are myths.

Smart technology is surveillance technology. It is not smarter because of its inherent qualities, but because it sends and receives data that allows it to be ‘smarter’ in manipulating users. The smart part of smart technology comes from human beings. So does the stupid part when people sacrifice their privacy and independence for the benefits of technology being shaped to them.

Clean energy is even more of a myth. The Inflation Increase Act doles out another stream of billions toward the inefficient forms of energy generation that the government has been subsidizing for over 50 years because some Madison Avenue ad agency branded them ‘clean’

The Great Pretending – Denial of Truth Allows Easier Trespass

The pretending issue goes beyond politics, it’s everywhere.  Sure, there was always an era where reality was skewed in favor of one position or another by various groups, people and leaders, where denying the obvious was always odd.  However, this current state of our national and international disposition extends far beyond politics into almost everything.

A person would ordinarily expect to see cultural or social pretending as an outcome of political correctness.  Denying the underlying social construct behind the rules of the urban society has been the norm for several years.  However, the pretending has become so pervasive it has recently extended into finance and economics; places where reality -actual outcomes- used to inoculate facts and figures against pretense.

It is no longer uncommon, heck, it’s become almost standard in this new era, to see CEO’s, CFO’s and even entire boards of directors, maintaining a standard of pretense. It is quite weird to see it happening.

Yes, this era -for a host of reasons- has made delusion somewhat of a norm.

PSALMS 19:2-5

1The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. 2Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge. 3There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard; 4yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,

MATTHEW 9:9-13

9As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him. 10And as he sat at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples. 11And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13Go and learn what this means, `I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

As always, prayers for the fight against that which seeks to enslave us are welcome.

Please include: President Donald Trump, the Q team, our soldiers in the field, special forces, tactical units, first responders and those working behind the scenes…and any and all people with family members in the hospital, COVID or not.

And…members of the QTree who no longer participate for one reason or another.

Border Town Puts Up ‘Martha’s Vineyard’ Sign In Hopes Government Will Come Pick Up All Their Illegal Immigrants

DEL RIO, TX — Impressed by the efficiency of Martha’s Vineyard in expelling their migrants in less than 48 hours, several border towns in Texas have begun adopting best practices from the affluent Massachusetts island. One prominent change that Del Rio has already made is replacing their “Welcome To Del Rio” sign with a “Welcome To Martha’s Vineyard” sign so that migrants will know that there are not enough resources, they are not wanted, and they need to leave immediately.

“We’ve never seen anything like it – the Martha’s Vineyard team had the migrants gone in 48 hours flat! We haven’t ever been able to put up numbers like that, so we’re taking a page out of their playbook.” Del Rio resident Dee Porter spoke to reporters about the “Unwelcome Committee” that the town has formed to study the methods used at Martha’s Vineyard for migrant removal.

The Great Information War: State Dept and CIA At Odds with US MIL Psychological Operations

The US government admittedly engage in black and grey psyops via the CIA, and white psychological operations are carried out via the US MIL, predominantly the US Army. But the media and the Left want everyone to associate “psyops” with disinformation. Why? Because they are being exposed by the ongoing military psyop known as Q. We are in the middle of a propaganda war. This is informational warfare.

Also, I find it curious that Biden would PUBLICLY address this situation. He’s (allegedly) the Commander in Chief. He could have stopped any and all US MIL operations overnight the first day he stepped into office, behind closed doors, and we would never know anything about it. That is… unless he’s not actually in control of the US MIL.

All Biden is doing here is drawing attention to the fact that US MIL are conducting online psyops, and that Biden, The State Dept, and the CIA, don’t like it. The entities most commonly affiliated with Deep State corruption, PUBLICLY showing grievances regarding ongoing US MIL psyops… this is EXTREMELY abnormal. And PROVES that elements within the US MIL are not acting in accordance with Biden. It also confirms there is an ongoing information war between factions within the US government.

Both “sides” are telling the opposite story. But who’s telling the truth? Who do we trust?

Do we trust the State Dept, the CIA, the DNC, and their media lapdogs, who have been caught red-handed, lying for years about Trump, Russia, Mueller, Kavanaugh, Kids in cages, Jussie Smollett, Rittenhouse, Summer of love, “Mostly peaceful”, Ghost of Kyiv, Hunter Biden laptop being disinformation, “there are no biolabs in Ukraine”, etc., etc.? Damn near EVERYTHING the media and the Left have said for the past 6 years, has eventually turned out to be a flat out lie.

Or do we trust Trump and the US MIL (Q) that have been right about Trump, Russia, Ukraine, media corruption, human trafficking, Epstein, NXIVM, Hollywood, widespread elite pedophilia, FBI, DOJ, CIA, the Southern border, C19, social media Orwellian activity, etc.? The list goes on and on.

One from Sundance worth considering:

Sunday Talks, John Ratcliffe Questions the DOJ/FBI Classified Designations in Mar-a-Lago Documents

Ratcliffe suspects the documents are essentially the DOJ and FBI work products, including interviews with ‘sources’ like Igor Danchenko, from their fabricated case against President Trump.  If accurate, the objective of the DOJ/FBI would be to avoid sunlight on their political targeting operation.  This viewpoint makes sense when you consider the DOJ/FBI position that no one should ever be allowed to look at those documents, including the appointed Special Master in the case, Judge Raymond Dearie.

Wouldn’t that be interesting.

Okay, let’s see what else I’ve got:

Trump ‘Deliberately Stoking’ Violence, Courting QAnon, Professor Says

How? Just exactly how? If President Trump was really doing such a thing, wouldn’t we see it highlighted on MSDNC? Seriously, I used to sit next to a woman in the Symphony Chorus who self identified as an Atheist Jew who thought the “TEA Party people” were violent, and didn’t think it odd that there was no video to support the idea. She was a Chris Mathews groupie.

MAGA’s Real Crime? Spotlighting Government Failure

That elected officials and high-ranking bureaucrats could so venomously condemn half the country as veritable enemies of the State is an inexcusable rhetorical escalation against American citizens.  Is this or is this not the “land of the free”?  Do Americans still have the right to disagree, debate, and speak freely?  Are we no longer “allowed” to dissent publicly from the officially held positions of the federal government and its officeholders?  How exactly does “democracy,” as White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre recently claimed, require denouncing all contrarian viewpoints as unacceptably “extreme”?  Are we not “permitted” to express thoughts unless they are first approved by the State?

If a Democrat party emissary or any of the Democrats’ corporate news media sycophants ever deigned to attend a Trump rally or speak to actual MAGA voters, that rubbernecker would find some of the most pro-American patriots in the country.  Filled with military veterans and civilian law enforcement officers, their families, and their supporters, it would be impossible to find a less likely group of “insurrectionists.”  That so many Americans who have put their lives on the line in defense of their country could be called “terrorists” and “traitors” shocks the conscience.  That Americans who proudly wave the American flag and sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” with glee could be targeted as “extremists” undermines precisely what it means to be selflessly patriotic.  That the highest officers of the U.S. government could equate the 9/11 terrorists with so many Americans who actually put their lives on hold twenty years ago and ran into battle half a world away to make sure no 9/11 attack would ever happen again is outrageously disrespectful to every family who lost a loved one in those wars and utterly revolting to every servicemember who made it home.

Just what is so condemnable about MAGA Americans, anyway?  Is it their resistance to an economic globalism that has wildly benefited Wall Street and foreign adversaries these last three decades while destroying blue-collar manufacturing towns from coast to coast?  Does supporting the creation of Main Street wealth over the protection of international investment bank profits make one “extreme”?  Is it really too much for helpless Americans to demand that the federal government enforce its own immigration laws at the Southern border and, by doing so, cripple the rampant drug- and sex-trafficking and devastating violent crime anguishing families and towns throughout the country?  Is struggling to keep your children and community safe now the hallmark of a “racist”?  Is it somehow un-American for MAGA voters to oppose public schools’ unilateral decisions to indoctrinate their children with the tenets of Critical Race Theory, transgenderism, and other highly contentious school curricula?  When did the State seize more authority over America’s children than their parents?  Why should Marxism and pornography replace morality and religion?  Why must Americans heed every new stricture of “political correctness” promulgated by Democrats and their media allies to avoid being socially ostracized, punished, or fired?  If everyone must believe everything Democrats believe, how can any American ever be truly free?

Hegseth: America’s Losing Faith … and We Only Have Ourselves to Blame

“Previous generations did a great job passing along peace, prosperity, leisure, entertainment and progress in medicine, science and technology. But along the way, previous generations passed on all the wants of the world and not enough of the needs. They took for granted the main ingredient that underwrites all of those worldly advancements. And that is faith.”

Capitalizing on the Left’s identity crisis

The venerable David Shor has smartly suggested that Democrats would be wise to embrace, what he calls, “popularism,” the idea that bread-and-butter issues like the economy and immigration, rather than woke pet-projects, are more conducive to winning elections. Still, it is unclear whether the post-modernist left will prioritize pragmatism and common good over ideology.

Conservatives must seize this moment. While it’s also true that the right has its own internal fissures, pointing out inconsistencies on the Left should be a unifying effort. We cannot let the Left get away with blatantly obvious doublespeak on the campaign trail. J.D. Vance, much to his credit, has repeatedly made a point of emphasizing Tim Ryan’s politically expedient flip-flopping. The Left, in more ways than one, is dysphoric. For conservatives not to campaign on this would be negligent and dumb.

THE FED’S SECRET PLAN TO SUCK WORKERS DRY

As reported in Common Dreams, “Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said… that the U.S. central bank is ready to inflict ‘pain’ on households as it continues to fight inflation, remarks that drew widespread backlash from experts who warned the Fed appears poised to spark a devastating recession and mass layoffs.”

The Federal Reserve – the privately owned central bank of the U.S. – wants to screw us all some more. So the Fed claims it’s raising interest rates to fight inflation, but that isn’t why they’re doing it. The truth is it doesn’t care that much about inflation, which is caused by corporate greed. What it really wants to fight against is worker power.

Right now, average American workers have more power than usual there’s a wave of unionizing across the country. Companies have had to add all kinds of perks to get people to apply to work for them, like higher wages, good healthcare, and work-from-home agreements. Chik-fil-A was even hurling chicken sandwiches at people to get them behind the counter.

The point is, workers have the power right now, and corporate America does not. And now we have proof that corporate America – which owns our government – wants to turn this all around immediately.

Getting a head start on the narrative for the next election:

Why we may not know who won the Senate on Election Day

Many of the same factors in the same battleground states are at play in 2022, starting with races that could have very slim margins. Add in the continued popularity of mail voting and state laws in Pennsylvania and elsewhere that can delay processing of those ballots, and the chance of another waiting game is distinct — possibly with control of the Senate up in the air.

Yes, and We the People are rather frustrated with this.

FBI Agent: ‘We Have More People Assigned to Investigate White Supremacists Than We Can Actually Find’

Current and former FBI agents tell The Washington Times that the perceived threat has become overblown under the administration. They say bureau analysts and top officials are pressuring FBI agents to create domestic terrorist cases and tag people as White supremacists to meet internal metrics.

“The demand for White supremacy” coming from FBI headquarters “vastly outstrips the supply of White supremacy,” said one agent, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “We have more people assigned to investigate White supremacists than we can actually find.”

The agent said those driving bureau policies “have already determined that White supremacy is a problem” and set agencywide policy to elevate racially motivated domestic extremism cases as priorities.

“We are sort of the lapdogs as the actual agents doing these sorts of investigations, trying to find a crime to fit otherwise First Amendment-protected activities,” he said. “If they have a Gadsden flag and they own guns and they are mean at school board meetings, that’s probably a domestic terrorist.”

What Would C. S. Lewis Say?

In spite of his indifference to politics as such, he did often give prescient analyses of a variety of social and political topics. One example is Lewis’ sharp criticism of what he termed “the omnicompetent state,” that is, the modern welfare state that promises a universal curative for all of society’s ills.

He saw it as antithetical to human freedom and the institutions that preserve it, and instead favored a regime of limited government. He was suspicious of technological advancement, but only because he thought technology in the hands of the omnicompetent state would result in widespread, pervasive tyranny. He noted that the lure of the welfare state is understandable in the face of seemingly limitless human suffering, yet he exhorted his readers to be wary of the purveyors of “utopian dreams.” He instead promoted the good actions of responsible individual citizens engaging the challenge of living in a fallen and dark world, stating, “the art of life consists in tackling each immediate evil as well as we can.”

Lewis expressed concern that the modern state could undermine human freedom and dignity should policymakers adopt a modern social science approach to governance. He also doubted the ability of any government to permanently reshape and subordinate a nation’s citizenry. Lewis viewed government overreach parading as scientific governance as the major threat to human freedom in modern society in our times.

Proverbs 21:

[1] As the divisions of waters, so the heart of the king is in the hand of the Lord: whithersoever he will he shall turn it. [2] Every way of a man seemeth right to himself: but the Lord weigheth the hearts. [3] To do mercy and judgment, pleaseth the Lord more than victims. [4] Haughtiness of the eyes is the enlarging of the heart: the lamp of the wicked is sin. [5] The thoughts of the industrious always bring forth abundance: but every sluggard is always in want.

[6] He that gathereth treasures by a lying tongue, is vain and foolish, and shall stumble upon the snares of death. [7] The robberies of the wicked shall be their downfall, because they would not do judgment. [8] The perverse way of a man is strange: but as for him that is pure, his work is right. [9] It is better to sit in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman, and in a common house. [10] The soul of the wicked desireth evil, he will not have pity on his neighbour.

[11] When a pestilent man is punished, the little one will be wiser: and if he follow the wise, he will receive knowledge. [12] The just considereth seriously the house of the wicked, that he may withdraw the wicked from evil. [13] He that stoppeth his ear against the cry of the poor, shall also cry himself and shall not be heard. [14] A secret present quencheth anger: and a gift in the bosom the greatest wrath. [15] It is joy to the just to do judgment: and dread to them that work iniquity.

Biden Tearfully Gives Queen One Final Sniff

WESTMINISTER ABBEY — President Joe Biden has flown across the Atlantic Ocean to pay his final respects to Queen Elizabeth the II and give her one last good sniff.

According to sources, with hundreds of world leaders and dignitaries gathered around for the Queen’s grand state funeral, President Joe Biden got up unannounced and made his way straight for the Queen’s casket.

“Goodbye, Queen Elizabeth. I’ll never forget you or your royal scent,” said President Joe Biden with a great, and powerful sniff while leaning down into the Queen’s casket. “Ahhh, even better than ol’ Joey remembered.”

RALLY THREAD: Save America – Youngstown, Ohio, September 17, 2022

About Youngstown:

Youngstown was named for New York native John Young, who surveyed the area in 1796 and settled there soon afterward.[8] On February 9, 1797, Young purchased the township of 15,560 acres (6,300 ha) from the Western Reserve Land Company for $16,085.[9] The 1797 establishment of Youngstown was officially recorded on August 19, 1802.[10]

The area that includes present-day Youngstown was part of the Connecticut Western Reserve, a section of the Northwest Territory that Connecticut initially did not cede to the Federal government.[11][12] Upon cession, Connecticut retained the title to the land in the Western Reserve, which it sold to the Connecticut Land Company for $1,200,000.[11][12][13] While many of the area’s early settlers came from Connecticut, Youngstown attracted many Scots-Irish settlers from neighboring Pennsylvania.[14] The first European Americans to settle permanently in the area were Pittsburgh native James Hillman and wife Catherine Dougherty.[15] By 1798, Youngstown was the home of several families who were concentrated near where Mill Creek meets the Mahoning River.[16] Boardman Township was founded in 1798 by Elijah Boardman, a member of the Connecticut Land Company. Also founded in 1798 was Austintown by John McCollum who was a settler from New Jersey.[17]

As the Western Reserve’s population grew, the need for administrative districts became apparent. In 1800, territorial governor Arthur St. Clair established Trumbull County (named in honor of Connecticut Governor Jonathan Trumbull), and designated the smaller settlement of Warren as its administrative center, or “county seat“.[18] In 1813, Trumbull County was divided into townships, with Youngstown Township comprising much of what became Mahoning County.[19] The village of Youngstown was incorporated in 1848, and in 1867 Youngstown was chartered as a city. It became the county seat in 1876, when the administrative center of Mahoning County was moved from neighboring Canfield.[20] Youngstown has been Mahoning County’s county seat to this day.[21]

Golden Age

The discovery of coal by the community in the early 19th century paved the way for the Youngstown area’s inclusion on the network of the famed Erie Canal. The Pennsylvania and Ohio Canal Company was organized in 1835, and the canal was completed in 1840.[22] Local industrialist David Tod, who became Ohio governor during the Civil War, persuaded Lake Erie steamboat owners that coal mined in the Mahoning Valley could fuel their vessels if canal transportation were available between Youngstown and Cleveland. The railroad’s arrival in 1856 smoothed the path for further economic growth.[23]

Youngstown’s industrial development changed the face of the Mahoning Valley. The community’s burgeoning coal industry drew hundreds of immigrants from Wales, Germany, and Ireland. With the establishment of steel mills in the late 19th century, Youngstown became a popular destination for immigrants from Eastern Europe, Italy, and Greece.[24]

In the early 20th century, the community saw an influx of immigrants from non-European countries including what is modern day Lebanon, Palestine/Israel, and Syria.[25] By the 1920s, this dramatic demographic shift produced a nativist backlash, and the Mahoning Valley became a center of Ku Klux Klan activity.[26] The situation reached a climax in 1924, when street clashes between Klan members and Italian and Irish Americans in neighboring Niles led Ohio Governor A. Victor Donahey to declare martial law.[27] By 1928 the Klan was in steep decline; and three years later, the organization sold its Canfield, Ohio, meeting area, Kountry Klub Field.[28] Despite the prevalence of Irish Americans in Youngstown, their presence wasn’t always evident. When radio personality Pete Gabriel (who was Greek), came to Youngstown, he found out at the time that there was no St Patrick’s Day parade there, so he started one.[29]

The growth of industry attracted people from within the United States and from Latin America. By the late 19th century, African Americans were well represented in Youngstown, and the first local congregation of the African Methodist Episcopal Church was established in 1871.[30] In the 1880s, local attorney William R. Stewart was the second African American elected to the Ohio House of Representatives.[31] A large influx of African Americans in the early 20th century owed much to developments in the industrial sector. During the national Steel Strike of 1919, local industrialists recruited thousands of workers from the South, many of whom were Black.[32] This move inflamed racist sentiment among local Whites, and for decades, African-American steelworkers experienced discrimination in the workplace.[33][34] Migration from the South rose dramatically in the 1940s, when the mechanization of southern agriculture brought an end to the sharecropping system, leading onetime farm laborers to seek industrial jobs.[35]

Youngstown’s local iron ore deposits were exhausted by the early 20th century. Since the city is landlocked (the Mahoning River is not navigable), ore from Michigan and Minnesota had to arrive by rail from Cleveland and other Great Lakes port cities where large bulk carriers were unloaded. This put Youngstown at a competitive disadvantage to the iron and steel producers in Cleveland, Buffalo, Chicago and Detroit—all on Great Lake shores. Compared to these four cities, Youngstown had a higher cost of transporting raw materials to the mills, according to a Harvard Business Review report published in January 1933. Higher transportation costs are one reason why Youngstown mills began their decline before those in other “rust belt” cities.[36]
