Judge rejects 2nd Amendment argument from illegal immigrant living in Ohio charged over possession of 170 guns
A federal judge denied a request to dismiss a gun charge against an illegal immigrant in Ohio who had been in the U.S. for more than 15 years, rejecting the man’s argument that he has a right to bear arms.
Carlos Serrano-Restrepo was charged earlier this year and was subsequently indicted for possession of a firearm by an alien unlawfully in the U.S., according to WSYX.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives began investigating and watching Serrano-Restrepo after he purchased at least 22 firearms and claimed to be a U.S. citizen on the firearms forms.
Agents conducted a search of his home and seized roughly 170 firearms, tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition and smoke/marine markers.
Serrano-Restrepo said some of the guns were purchased for self-defense.

If Biden pardons someone–like, say, Hunter or Jack Smith–they can no longer invoke the Fifth Amendment’s right against self-incrimination to avoid testifying before Congress or grand juries.

Trump says that his transition team will not use government resources because they want to save money. However, this is merely a smokescreen. What’s really happening is that Trump has learned from past experiences, particularly what they did to @genflynn
during the previous transition, as well as the fake briefing Trump got from Comey, which was used as a pretext to weaponize the Russia collusion hoax.

the reference to GSA is worth noting. GSA turned over all of Trump transition communications to Comey without consent of Trump campaign and without a court order. It was a very sore point at the time.

in this case, the distinction is relevant. It was Comey in February 2017. This occurred just before Sessions’ recusal, following which Comey ratcheted up his operation to instigate a special counsel.
In the end, as we’ve discussed often, nothing from this “spying” appears to have been used as evidence in the Russia collusion allegations, which was built on fabrications and hoaxes, rather than spying.
On other hand, it seems germane to Trump’s March 2017 allegations that FBI had “wiretapped” campaign, allegations that Comey strenuously denied as without foundation. However, Comey didn’t mention that FBI had obtained all campaign communications and records in GSA possession without a warrant – something that would have caused a furore in March 2017, but was under the radar when revealed much later after Mueller already underway.

The Next Day
Paying homage to a fledgling that I found beneath the biggest tree in my parents backyard.
The little guy had few feathers and had been on the ground for at least a day. He was initially healthy looking and I thought we was learning how to fly. When he still was not flying away from me on another day, I thought he may need help. That evening I cuddled him in the hammock beneath the tree, giving him my warmth. After researching how to help him and learning very little, I made a decision.
I thought that I could learn how to care for him better the following day if he made it through the night. Something that I came to regret. He died outside later that evening, alone.
Perhaps things would be different if I brought him indoors for warmth, or found any form of food to feed him. Unfortunately I cannot change what has transpired. Despite my desire to do good my actions were neutral at best. So I wrote this song that this sweet little creature will not be forgotten.
The chipper melody juxtaposes the unfortunate content of the song, perhaps to represent the endless youth of the bird whose life ended before it had barely begun.

That bird was a fledgling (covered in feathers) and should have been learning to fly. If it made no move to hop away from you and hide, it was likely injured or sick. If it was sick the parents would abandon it and might even push it out of the nest.
That makes sense, though it’s still sad 🙁
Very sad but something that might help your daughter.
We have found it to be a very hard lesson to learn. Early on we would fight to save a newborn lamb or goat only to have them die a month or two later despite everything we did. Some times they would make it to adulthood but often they would not.
Life is hard & death is brutal to deal with as a child, & even throughout our lifespan.
We had family friends who got into a small farm situation in their young marriage. They raised some animals to be food for the family eventually (grade school kids then) & taught the kids to keep that in mind. I spent a week there one Summer & befriended the being fattened for the slaughter steer “Charlie Hamburger” nicknamed “Chuck Roast”. I don’t know if that helped the kids accept the loss of this animal when it came time for the harvest but that name kept his purpose at the forefront.
I remember someone here used to bring the puppy turd pics & there was one puppy, the runt, who didn’t ultimately survive. When I was 3 our neighbor’s dog birthed puppies & I saw some of them being born. One was given to me as a present, the runt of the litter I’d seen born, & she lived about 15 years even though she was a good size mix of an English Setter & a “fence jumper”. My mom put her down when I was away at college without telling me or my dad first. I managed to make my way to a rooftop on campus for privacy & had a good cry, not having been able to say goodbye to Susie, my first & only personal dog, all others have been “ours” in my marriage or “hers” once with one of my roommates.
Hope it’s a munitions manufacturer as that hits the money chain were hurt is felt most.

When things between the people in my generation of my family devolved into buying each other gift certificates in the same amount, to the same stores…we basically gave up on it for ourselves, but we still buy things for the generation two behind us (i.e., the ones who are still kids).

i shop all year for the perfect gift for everyone on my list. it’s a joy i would never give up.
If I see something that’s absolutely perfect for someone I’ll buy it but it literally has to be a case of seeing the item and thinking “that wold be perfect for so-and-so” and I have to have some confidence they don’t already have it.
It’s not going to be something one finds in a WalMart, though.
We shifted from getting everyone presents to drawing names for “secret Santa” among the adults. I still do stockings for everyone, a “family stocking” kind of grab bag, & a silly present game with very inexpensive stuff wrapped in tissue paper (sort of like a white elephant). The last generates the most laughter especially when some really weird finds surface 🙂

This is the landing of the Starship Booster in the water after the catch abort.
The Booster landed behind the horizon from the videographer’s viewpoint at ground level
In fact, the booster, which is 21 stories high, nearly disappeared behind the horizon, before it touched the water on landing.
He had another camera up on the top of a 28-story building and the video from this location shows that the Booster did not disappear behind the horizon.

Nothing magical about this to a «round-Earther» like me. The horizon is where something remote disappears from view, past the «hilltop» formed by the curvature of the Earth.
The distance to the horizon increases with the altitude of the observer and the target. Also, because of refraction, the equivalent Earth radius of visible light is slightly larger than the real one, making the horizon recede correspondingly. So the distance to the horizon is not at all a fixed value.
When on a beach and looking at the evening Sun disappearing behind the horizon, seemingly into the ocean, a straight line from the observer to the Sun would actually show the Sun having already gone below the horizon, yet because of this lengthening of the Earth’s apparent radius it is still visible.
So looking through a camera at sea level will show the horizon to be closer than looking through a camera at the 28th floor of a building. It would have been really surprising if it had been otherwise.
Now take the Nikon P900 and zoom in on that setting sun (halfway below the “Horizon”) you will magically see that the sun is STILL fully above the “Horizon”.
Funny huh?
I have never been able to “zoom past” any horizon with ANY device. Nor have I seen photographic proof that this has ever happened. It is mathematically required for flat Earth, but I’ve never seen it.
Indeed, the directional uniformity of the horizon effect, the increasing of its distance with height, and the universality of it around the Earth, is one of the best arguments for spherical symmetry of all, because it’s pure math, and is visible to anybody, whether by the naked eye, or with any device.

Look left to right (or right to left) out over the ocean….
The far right and/or left should slope down because the left and right extents of your view would be many thousands of MILES apart.
Yet, Zero curve.
The Earth is THAT BIG. Standing on the ground, the horizon is only a few miles away. Even at 100 yards up, the horizon is only 34 miles away, in all directions.
One has to get tens of thousands of feet up in the air (in a plane), to see at state-level distances. At 30,000 feet up, the horizon is 212 miles away in every direction. That’s roughly the width of Ohio. So on the border of Ohio and Indiana, one can just see West Virginia and Illinois on opposite horizons.
The beauty of the sphere is that it looks “flat” in every direction, by symmetry. The horizon is a circle, always, anywhere on the earth, in every place. The only way to start measuring the curvature is to fire lasers to the horizon in every direction. They will not lay flat in a [geometric] plane, while riding in a [mechanical] plane at 30,000 feet.
One can measure the size of the earth that way – by the angle between the lines to the horizons – knowing the height of the observation.
To get to a point where the angle is 90 degrees (meaning you can see 1/4 of the way around the world, which is 6250 miles from horizon to horizon), you have to get over 1000 miles up (1085 mi).
To see 1/8 of the way around the Earth, at which point the angle would be 135 degrees, you have to get up by 300 miles.
To see 1/16 of the way around the Earth, at which point the atc.ngle is 157.5 degrees, you have to get up 76 miles. Notice that this is starting to get pretty flat. You’re only 22.5 degrees off horizontal.
So – even in the highest commercial flights – you are only seeing 1.7% around the world, or roughly 1/64th around the world. So you’re looking at an angle of 174 degrees – almost flat – when you’re up in a plane at 30,000 feet, and measuring the folding down of the horizons. It’s STILL almost flat. But not quite.
And this is why we have such general uniformity of weather in cities, counties, and American states or European countries.
The Earth is BIG. So much so, that it’s “locally flat”!
Also… watch a boat go “Over the Horizon” with your own eyes.
It appears to our eyes that the boat has gone over the curve of the earth.
Again, use a Nikon P900 or similar and zoom in on where the boat “disappeared”.
Huh? It’s still on the water way out there.
There is no curve.
Doesn’t matter how strong a telescope or binocular or camera zoom or anything one looks through — the remote ship going away past the horizon disappears from the waterline on up. As if it goes over a hill. Seen it, and everything I’ve ever had had to do with radio or radar works the same. The correction factor for the Earth’s radius changes some with the wavelength but all the maths come out the same.
Believe what you want… I’ve researched it for years.
It is easier to fool someone,

You’re flat out telling him/her that he/she is full of shit even though he/she deals with it directly, if not professionally.
Belief doesn’t figure into this anymore, it is several milliennia past that stage by now. The belief led to hypotheses, which were testable, and so far no experiment or observation has falsified the hypothesis that the earth is spherical, or nearly so, to the extent that deviations from the ideal spherical shape only matters at higher precision.
I have presented several video “Proofs” here and NOBODY will take the time to watch them and consider.
Questioning Science… is how we DO “Science”.
See my comments on that tweet – it looks like the amount obscured is pretty close to what is predicted for that distance, even though it’s not a clean example, IMO.

I wish it was. Because this example is at different distances, with possibly different horizon-level obstructions (vegetation), and creates different horizon angles, it’s not a clean demonstration of mostly curvature effect. (1/2 degree angle diff @ 30 km = 262 m in height!)

The Earth curvature calculator gives a 5-km horizon and a 49-m drop below it for a 2-m human at 30 km. It gives a 34-km horizon and 0 m drop (unobscured) for a 92-m height at 30 km. The amount obscured looks right for mostly curvature, but needs 2 b cleaner to sell flerfers!

The main flerfer argument is that one can keep zooming a camera ad infinitum, and thus there is no horizon, which would be true on a flat earth. But it’s simply untrue. There is always a horizon, and thus curvature.
