God’s Providence
Divine providence is the governance of God by which He, with wisdom and love, cares for and directs all things in the universe. Divine providence asserts that God is in complete control of all things. He is sovereign over the universe as a whole (Psalm 103:19), the physical world (Matthew 5:45), the affairs of nations (Psalm 66:7), human destiny (Galatians 1:15), human successes and failures (Luke 1:52), and the protection of His people (Psalm 4:8). This stands in direct opposition to the idea that the universe is governed by chance or fate.
Through divine providence God accomplishes His will. To ensure that His purposes are fulfilled, God governs the affairs of men and works through the natural order of things. The laws of nature are nothing more than God’s work in the universe. The laws of nature have no inherent power; rather, they are the principles that God set in place to govern how things normally work. They are only “laws” because God decreed them.
How does divine providence relate to human volition? We know that humans have a free will, but we also know that God is sovereign. How those two truths relate to each other is hard for us to understand, but we see examples of both truths in Scripture. Saul of Tarsus was willfully persecuting the church, but, all the while, he was “kick[ing] against the goads” of God’s providence (Acts 26:14).
God hates sin and will judge sinners. God is not the author of sin, He does not tempt anyone to sin (James 1:13), and He does not condone sin. At the same time, God obviously allows a certain measure of sin. He must have a reason for allowing it, temporarily, even though He hates it.
An example of divine providence in Scripture is found in the story of Joseph. God allowed Joseph’s brothers to kidnap Joseph, sell him as a slave, and then lie to their father for years about his fate. This was wicked, and God was displeased. Yet, at the same time, all of their sin worked toward a greater good: Joseph ended up in Egypt, where he was made the prime minister. Joseph used his position to sustain the people of a broad region during a seven-year famine—including his own family. If Joseph had not been in Egypt before the famine began, millions of people, including the Israelites, would have died. How did God get Joseph to Egypt? He providentially allowed his brothers the freedom to sin. God’s divine providence is directly acknowledged in Genesis 50:15–21.
Another clear case of divine providence overriding sin is the story of Judas Iscariot. God allowed Judas to lie, deceive, cheat, steal, and finally betray the Lord Jesus into the hands of His enemies. All of this was a great wickedness, and God was displeased. Yet, at the same time, all of Judas’s plotting and scheming led to a greater good: the salvation of mankind. Jesus had to die at the hands of the Romans in order to become the sacrifice for sin. If Jesus had not been crucified, we would still be in our sins. How did God get Christ to the cross? God providentially allowed Judas the freedom to perform a series of wicked acts. Jesus plainly states this in Luke 22:22: “The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!”
Note that Jesus teaches both the sovereignty of God (“the Son of Man will go as it has been decreed”) and the responsibility of man (“woe to that man who betrays!”). There is a balance.
Divine providence is taught in Romans 8:28: “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” “All things” means “all things.” God is never out of control. Satan can do his worst, yet even the evil that is tearing the world apart is working toward a greater, final purpose. We can’t see it yet. But we know that God allows things for a reason and that His plan is good. It must be frustrating for Satan. No matter what he does, he finds that his plans are thwarted and something good happens in the end.
Divine providence can be summarized this way: “God in eternity past, in the counsel of His own will, ordained everything that will happen; yet in no sense is God the author of sin; nor is human responsibility removed.” The primary means by which God accomplishes His will is through secondary causes (e.g., laws of nature and human choice). In other words, God usually works indirectly to accomplish His will.
God also sometimes works directly to accomplish His will. These works are what we call miracles. A miracle is God’s circumventing, for a short period of time, the natural order of things to accomplish His will. The blazing light that fell on Saul on the road to Damascus is an example of God’s direct intervention (Acts 9:3). The frustrating of Paul’s plans to go to Bythinia is an example of God’s indirect guiding (Acts 16:7). Both are examples of divine providence at work.
There are some who say that the concept of God directly or indirectly orchestrating all things destroys any possibility of free will. If God is in complete control, how can we be truly free in the decisions we make? In other words, for free will to be meaningful, there must be some things that lie outside of God’s sovereign control—e.g., the contingency of human choice. Let us assume for the sake of argument that this is true. What then? If God is not in complete control of all contingencies, then how could He guarantee our salvation? Paul says in Philippians 1:6 that “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” If God is not in control of all things, then this promise, and all other divine promises, is in doubt. If the future does not belong completely to God, we do not have complete security that our salvation will be made complete.
Furthermore, if God is not in control of all things, then He is not sovereign, and if He is not sovereign, then He is not God. So, the price of maintaining contingencies outside of God’s control results in a belief that God is not really God. And if our free will can trump divine providence, then who ultimately is God? We are. That conclusion is unacceptable to anyone with a biblical worldview. Divine providence does not destroy our freedom. Rather, divine providence takes our freedom into account and, in the infinite wisdom of God, sets a course to fulfill God’s will.

When I make an appointment with my “standard medical system” doctor, they send me a link to a “check-in” page which includes making sure my contact info, drug allergies, etc are correct. Then they have one or two short “annual surveys” they want me to answer. One has 4 questions that appear to be trying to find out if I’m depressed.
A new entry this doctor now makes in my chart when I decline standard of care says “patient likes natural medicine, non pharmaceutical approach to her health.” Which, thankfully he is supportive of, having training in integrative medicine.
The only way to stop having information collected and given to the electronic records systems at this point is to find a doctor that takes cash only and keeps paper records. And in many cases those doctors are sued endlessly by their state medical boards to hound them out of business.
There were reports a while back of certain questions being asked by doctors that could lead to your being forced into a mental institution for the ‘wrong answers’
Most of us here, if we answered truthfully, would fine ourselves in that situation.
If I recall it was someone in Australia who first brought it up & someone, a nurse, mentioned it happening in the USA.

I’m always afraid to pick the wrong answer, so I just check “All of the Above” for each one, just to be safe.
I prefer to answer each question with a question. So, when it says “sex?”, I reply “is that an offer?”

If my previous example was too much of an essay, I could’ve just replied, “Now?”

Yup. Our nurse at the doc office had us draw the same 11:10 on the clock. I always ask AM or PM; military time; alarm clock, watch, cell phone or old timey hands on a clock face? The last time I did all of the above and the nurse asked me what was taking me so long. I told her when asked to do something I need specifics and details.
For some reason she stopped asking me to do stuff after that.

Properly done it can be a positive thing. Please note what I wrote in italics.
Actually a lot of aircraft have “glass cockpits” meaning the gauges are actually on a computer screen (two of them actually, one in front of the copilot as well). In many cases the readout is done as some sort of analog display. However even there a few very critical gauges are also done as “steam” (mechanical) gauges. And unless I am greatly mistaken planes almost without fail have a magnetic compass in them (carefully placed so as not to be interfered with by currents/ferrous metals)–just in case the gyrocompass goes on the fritz.
Have always figured those Q&As, are a wedge to taking away 2A Rights.

The office visit.
My visits are usually quite short. My goal is really blood and urine test to see my system is likely doing fine or something may be out of whack.
If I have an issue, I tell them shortly after vitals, if not sooner.
Last time, to check in, I had to go to a computer and STAND (I hurt when I stand for a time) and fill in a bunch of nonsense. It started with my name and rejected me for typing Gail F Combs instead of gailfcombs. It must have taken a 1/2 hour to get checked in. THEN I get a e-mail saying I was LATE for the appointment!!!
Please note there were 2 clerks standing there doing NOTHING while I tried to check in via that darn piece of Schiff!
Those check in tablets. If it goes beyond my name and the like, I tell the goof doing nothing I can’t figure it out.
They either check me in at their computer, or get their lazy ass up and check me in at the tablet.
I had a dealio where my DL was about to expire and I wasn’t sure my voter registration would work to vote, so I went in.
Those assholes made me do the sign-in and written test on a microscopic tablet screen before having me do the vision test across the room. If you weren’t blind previously, squinting at that stupid tablet would do it to you.
As a retired Quality Engineer who ran a lab, I HATE COMPUTERS!!!!
I want a BOUND notebook with lined and numbered pages. At the end of the day it gets signed by the technician, dated and then counter signed by me.

I usually just push random buttons to get the machine to lock up. Then the nice lady at the window gives me the old fashioned treatment – face to face.

Actually that is what finally happen. I started swearing at the thing and getting a bit aggressive in ‘pushing’ the buttons so after about 15 minutes she came over and walked me through the darn drill. That is why it took me about a 1/2 hour.
My friend checked into HER doctor in under a minute for her appointment. Same with my dentist. Walk up, give name, (spell it if needed) and that is it.
Would be funny to try to ask for “a Big Mac, Fries, and a Coke” (speaking of ordering Kiosks)….
Then again, that might invite a quick trip to the psych ward…

I have never gotten those mental health questions but if they are coming from the check-in nurse or aide, I would ask one question and make one request. Are you a mental health specialist? Please limit your questions to areas for which you are medically trained and are consistent with the purpose of my visit.

So police have no duty to protect individuals UNLESS you are “in custody”.
But once you are in custody, they also have no duty to protect you.
If the cops don’t have any duty to protect anyone, anywhere, then what are we paying them for?
Defunding the police is starting to make a lot of sense.
I was about to say we might as well make all the cops firefighters, but then the courts would rule that firefighters have no duty to put out fires. Especially if there were people in a burning building who would be harmed by the fire.
I suppose ambulance drivers have no duty to drive you to the hospital, they could just drop you off at Home Depot and call it a day.

But everyone is ‘in custody’ so the logic is the same as the outside world.
If a convict is in handcuffs and being transported to solitary confinement, then the officers have a duty to protect their ‘prisoner’ from foreseeable harms [such as a sudden attack with a knife by a bystander, etc.]. This is usually done by ‘locking down’ the entire module/unit prior to moving the inmate.

Since some years actually have 53 weeks, the joker could be applicable to that.
52 weeks is 364 days, as the years have 365 or 366 days, these extra days add up to another week in 5 or 6 year’s time.
A non-leap year has 52 weeks and 1 day in it. So the ISO “week number” standard has to throw in an occasional 53rd week. Basically any year that has 53 Thursdays is deemed to have a 53rd week in it
The Gregorian calendar repeats every 400 years (20,871 weeks or 146,097 days), and 71 years in each 400 year cycle have 53 weeks in them by this standard.
And those of us who have had the “pleasure” of maintaining the MM3000 calendar, or “owned” the ERP applications running on it (uh, that would be me), have endured those crazy week (weak?) numbers…..

ENTIRE ARTICLE: The New York Times has a new description for Nascimento Blair, a convicted drug dealer, kidnapper, and illegal alien; he is a “Jamaican transplant.” At least, they say, he was until he was sent back to Jamaica in February. The NYT never calls him what he was, an illegal alien.
Blair had been in the United States after coming on a nonimmigrant work visa in March 2004. He was here 21 years— so long that he has developed a “slightly Americanized accent,” and Jamaica does not feel like home anymore, according to New York Times Writer Luis Ferré-Sadurní and photographer Todd Heisler, who traveled to Kingston, Jamaica, to interview Blair.
The New York Times wants you to feel badly for Blair, and others like him — people in the U.S. illegally with a criminal history who are being sent back to their home country.
“It was his criminal past that had gotten him deported from the United States, where he had been rebuilding his life and seeking redemption,” their piece says. “He had earned two college degrees, started a trucking business, mentored people released from prison, cared for a fiancée with breast cancer, taken classes at Columbia University.”
Put another way, it was his illegal marijuana sales operation, and a 2006 conviction for kidnapping a teenager who allegedly stole marijuana from him in a case where Blair was accused of tying up the teen in an apartment, pistol whipping him, and seeking a $5,000 ransom from the victim’s family, and the resulting 2006 deportation order, that got him deported.
Also, he writes poetry.
In a tumultuous 2006 trial, Blair was found guilty of the kidnapping charge, but before deportation, he was to sentenced to 15 years in prison. According to the NYT piece, Blair assumed ICE would pick him up and deport him when he was released in 2020. It is unclear why that didn’t happen, but New York is a sanctuary state which has been uncooperative with ICE, and it was during the COVID outbreak, when travel was limited.
Blair was sent back to Jamaica in February 2025 as ICE actively removes people who should have already left.
“Nascimento Blair is an illegal alien, convicted kidnapper, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. In 2008 he was issued a final order of removal,” Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin told The Federalist in a text. “Because of the previous administration’s open border policies, this criminal, illegal alien, was released into the streets of New York. Thanks to President Trump and Secretary [Kristi] Noem, this kidnapper was arrested and is now out of our country. He was arrested on Feb. 3, 2025 and deported on Feb. 27, 2025. President Trump and Secretary Noem have made it clear that we are prioritizing arresting and deporting the worst of the worst. That includes convicted kidnappers. We are restoring common sense to our immigration system. Why does the New York Times continue to pedal sob stories about criminal, illegal aliens and ignore their victims?”
The NYT piece makes it clear Blair knew he didn’t belong in the U.S., “The deportation order loomed over Mr. Blair as he rebuilt his life after prison.” But it was easy to stay after former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order in 2017 designating New York a sanctuary state.
The United States, including prison, has been very good to Blair. While in prison, he had the time and means to earn a bachelor’s degree from Mercy University and a master’s degree in leadership from the New York Theological Seminary, according to the NYT. He also married a Jamaican woman, fathered a child, and divorced, all while in prison.
He even made the news a few times complaining to the Associated Press in 2020 about prison conditions in the midst of COVID. “It’s like we are expendable,” Blair said in that Associated Press interview, concerned that prisoners did not know who tested positive for COVID. “The last thing you want is to be around someone and not know that that person has it, because that’s a potential catastrophe.”
After he was released, instead of following the deportation order, Blair was asked to join other ex-convicts as a fellow at Columbia University’s Center for Justice. This connection may be where he found his free attorney, Bernard Harcourt, a Columbia law professor and a criminal defense lawyer who handled his deportation case.
But now Blair is living in his sister’s spare room in Jamaica, and the roof leaks. “Jamaicans deported to the island, many of whom have criminal backgrounds, have long had to grapple with social stigma that stems from a widely held perception that deportees are unemployable, dangerous and destined to fuel crime,” the NYT piece says.
Blair knows he should have left the U.S. long ago. He is in Jamaica now because he made bad choices earlier in his life and often, like a firecracker that explodes in a bare hand, leaving permanent injury, bad choices follow us through life. Trump’s policies didn’t send him home, Blair did, when he kidnapped that kid and sold pounds of weed in the U.S., breaking the rules of the work visa that allowed him into our beautiful country.
He chose not to be immediately accountable by self-deporting. But life has a way of catching up with you. A man who earned (probably free) college degrees, found a love for poetry, and while behind bars came to understand his potential is unlimited, can certainly find his way in Jamaica.”
And there’s no statute of limitations on illegal immigration…

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. COLORADO SPRINGS — More than 300 law enforcement officers, both federal and local, are assisting Rocky Mountain Drug Enforcement Agency Operation Sunday morning in Colorado Springs.
According to the DEA, over 100 people in the country illegally have been detained at what they say is an underground nightclub in Colorado Springs. ICE responded to the scene to take those individuals into custody.
Drugs and weapons have been seized from what appears to be a strip mall behind the Conoco on Academy Boulevard.
The DEA says that in the nightclub, they found pink cocaine, evidence of prostitution, and multiple firearms. The DEA estimates there were around 200 people inside the nightclub at the time of the raid, including more than a dozen U.S. active-duty service members. Special Agent in Charge, Jonathan Pullen, with DEA Rocky Mountain Field Division says those service members were either patrons or working as armed security guards at the underground nightclub. Pullen also says that Army Criminal Investigation Division is working with DEA.
According to our crew on the scene, Airport Road was blocked eastbound at the South Academy intersection. Many different police cruisers, white vans, and armored vehicles can be seen.

Our crews at the scene were able to acquire video that shows a significant number of people detained and being questioned by police.
Sunday’s operation is the latest in the DEA’s Colorado crackdown this year.
As the agency conducted four Denver-area operations on Jan. 29, special agent in charge David Olesky said an uptick in enforcement is due to a “renewed sense of purpose” at the agency under the Trump administration.
“We’re getting absolutely all the resources that we need not only at the federal level but at the local level as well,” he said at the time. “And when it comes to immigration, that is just one of the tools in the toolbox that we’re going to be able to use to remove those violent criminals and drug traffickers from the communities.”
Derek Maltz, who stepped into the role of acting administrator of the DEA shortly after President Trump’s inauguration, told Scripps News Investigates that Colorado is “ground zero” for violent criminals in the U.S. and that the state is home to the “command and control” of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.
He said he believes criminals have taken advantage of vulnerabilities and weaknesses in the state, and that the border policies of recent years have been too open and allowed for too many people to cross the U.S. border unaccounted for.

It just took me to Denver, which is where it always starts for me. I guess if you go to bing maps with bing.com/ maps it will send you to Warren County.
I infer that the link doesn’t actually contain location data.
I wonder if Bing was wanting me to set my location and put the map in the general area where it thinks my location is at. It still does that today but is a little further south than yesterday when I clicked the link. Also, I right-click and choose to show it in a new window. Sometimes that behaves differently than when I simply click a link and it replaces the current page.
I think Bing just infers your location based on your IP address.
It centers me on Denver, likely because my ISP lets their internet customers onto the internet proper there.
In your case you “look” like you’re from Warren County to Bing.

Silly Bing. Meta (Facebook Marketplace) did something similiar the other day. I got a mix of items for sale within 40 miles of my current Missouri location. Intermixed were rows of items being sold in my previous Virginia location. Perhaps I have missed updating my address in one place and it is overriding the location I’ve set in Marketplace with something in my profile.

It sounds good and I hope that it will be. One thing that confuses me is the recent (last few years) incessant call for huge new housing developments.
On one hand they tell us birth rates are down yet the roving population moving to red States almost always appears to be dug-in liberals or illegals…and so the constant call for housing.
In California in my old stomping grounds they’ve built up massive developments that aren’t cheap and always of course include some ‘low income’ units. Many of them aren’t for sale anyway..they’re only rentals.
In my current stomping grounds the fight continues to limit this unneeded and unwanted growth for housing that they claim is needed workforce housing. What a joke. There is no workforce UNLESS they keep approving shopping centers, gas stations, storage places, eateries, etc.
No idea if 15 minute cities are knowingly or unknowingly in play.
Even if the weird restrictive notions associated with15minute cities aren’t noticeable in the new developments the push for more is unrelenting . What’s also irritating is the gobbling up of established neighborhoods with single family homes to raze them entirely, trees and all, for the new and improves housing for all.

He can’t run for president, he’s ineligible to run for vice president.

OK I’m reading this and wondering which ones are the “seed oils” of which RFK Jr speaks.
It seems like it could be almost all of them–even olives are a seed bearing fruit. (As are avocados.) Some are considered nuts but that’s basically a seed as well.
And “vegetable oil” could mean any part of the plant.
So is the list of “not bad” oils truly limited to butter and lard?

Personally I use Coconut oil, Olive oil and butter as well as animal fats. The other oils get dumped into my animal feed if I want to fatten up a pony.

Natural Immunity is to a bunch of different proteins, not just the Spike protein. Nucleocapsid, membrane and more; so variations in the spike protein matter much less to the un-jabbed; whereas the jabbed have Original Antigenic Sin issues with primarily making antibodies to the spike protein.
