COMMENTARY FOR ROMANS 6:23
Believers must die to sin, and live to God. (1,2) This is urged by their Christian baptism and union with Christ. (3-10) They are made alive to God. (11-15) And are freed from the dominion of sin. (16-20) The end of sin is death, and of holiness everlasting life. (21-23)
21-23 The pleasure and profit of sin do not deserve to be called fruit. Sinners are but ploughing iniquity, sowing vanity, and reaping the same. Shame came into the world with sin, and is still the certain effect of it. The end of sin is death. Though the way may seem pleasant and inviting, yet it will be bitterness in the latter end. From this condemnation the believer is set at liberty, when made free from sin. If the fruit is unto holiness, if there is an active principle of true and growing grace, the end will be everlasting life; a very happy end! Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

Over on CTH, there is a post of Tucker Carlson interviewing Mike Huckabee about Israel (mostly). I listened to about half of it; that was all I could stand. But I have a few observations.
First, Tucker’s fatal flaw is that he constantly says things like “everybody thinks,” everybody knows,” “everybody believes.”
Well, no, Tucker, “everybody” doesn’t agree with you. That’s just a stupid thing to say.
Second, Tucker is interviewing with an agenda, and a goal. He HATES Israel and is an antisemitic ass. He tries to claim over and over that he doesn’t and isn’t, but it is patently clear. And all he wants to do is prove he’s right. All his questioning points to the goal.
Third, Tucker says repeatedly “I’m a Christian.” Well, good, but you might want to pick up a Bible and read it sometime, Tuck. God gave that land to the Jews. And non-Jewish-born people were accepted as Jews in the Old Testament. If I wanted to become Jewish, I’d be just as Jew as any of them. If I moved to Israel, I’d have the “right” to be there. If Ivanka Trump and her family want to move to Israel, they have the “right” to be there.
I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO CONFRONT TUCKER CARLSON MYSELF. I don’t understand why nobody ever brings up the precedent of non-Jews becoming Jews in the Bible.
Tucker also brings up that Stonehenge has existed as long as the Jewish people, and do the British have the right to “their homeland.” They are being “displaced” currently by immigration.
I FULLY SUPPORT the right of the British to repel that invasion, and I would bet that many Christians do (notice I don’t say “everybody does”). We support Britain as an ally just as we do Israel. We WENT TO WORLD WAR TWICE to protect Britain, for goodness sake. How stupid is this guy?
I find Tucker to be an annoying midwit who thinks he’s a genius. His “furrowed brow” prevarication is juvenile. Huckabee handled him ok, but I think as Christians, we have to stop being uncomfortable when stating outright that our beliefs are correct. People just can’t stand to come across as believing their way is the right way, and tiptoe around stating it.

Theoretically, liberalism is an ideology with a set of underlying principles and all of us could name some of the things liberals are SUPPOSED TO support. However, as a practical matter, liberalism has turned into something closer to a poorly thought-out religion or even a sort of social game that revolves around acquiring power and status with other liberals.
Anyone can name things liberals believe in, but if you start looking for the principles behind any position that they’re willing to continue to apply to anything that isn’t convenient for them, you’ll often come up empty-handed. What liberals claim to believe can change almost moment to moment, depending on the situation and the people involved.
Granted, politics is full of hypocrites and unethical people, but with liberals in good standing, you will universally find that what liberals say, support, and believe can change on a dime depending on which way they think the winds are shifting on the Left. The liberals who have ideological beliefs they aren’t willing to compromise on, like Joe Rogan, J.K. Rowling, RFK or Elon Musk can quickly find themselves labeled as a Nazi or even worse in liberal eyes, a TRUMP FAN.
Because of all this, liberal beliefs tend to be remarkably inconsistent, illogical, and contradictory. If you want to see some examples of this, here they are.
Liberals will…
* …oppose the death penalty for criminals convicted of even the most heinous crimes but are rabidly in favor of mothers murdering their own children via abortion at every opportunity.
* …tell you that you don’t need a gun, but also call for defunding the police, allowing rioters to run wild in their cities throughout 2020 and they’re surprisingly okay with murdering prominent conservative figures:
* …simultaneously tell you that it’s Republicans that are waging a “war against women” even though they rather famously can’t even tell you what a woman is. They also openly favor allowing male crossdressers to stay in battered women’s shelters, women’s prisons, women’s locker rooms, women’s bathrooms and compete in women’s sports.
* …leave their expensive homes, drive to the airport in an SUV, and fly overseas on a private jet to participate in a global warming conference where they tell everyone else the only way to save the planet is to dramatically cut back on our lifestyles.
* …send their kids to private school, then fight tooth and nail to try to prevent other parents from being able to have the same choice with their tax dollars.
* …tell you that black Americans living in a district governed entirely by Democrats are having hard lives because white Republicans who don’t live anywhere near them are racist.
* …do everything in their power to keep actual criminals out of jail, but when someone like Daniel Penny, Kyle Rittenhouse, or the McCloskeys defends themselves from criminals putting their lives in danger, liberals want them put in jail.
* …push pro-trans propaganda on kids, make it illegal for therapists to discourage a kid from being trans, and get schools to hide the fact that a kid is pretending to be another gender from a parent, then go, “leave the kids alone” if conservatives want them to stop doing those things.
* …tell you that manmade global warming is the important issue that there is and that electric cars are one of the keys to solving it, then they’ll turn right around and openly support a domestic terrorism campaign against the biggest electric car company in the world because the owner supported a Republican President.
* …tell you that Americans should be ashamed to live on “stolen land” taken from the Indians. Meanwhile, the amount of land liberals control that has been given back to the Indians? It’s zero.
* …demand that mainstream media outlets slavishly promote the liberal line on every subject and attack Republicans at every opportunity, then they will scratch their head and wonder why the public doesn’t believe the mainstream media is unbiased.
* …tell you that college loans are so worthless that the government should pay for them but will also insist that the government continue to hand out more college loans.
* …obsess over racism and white supremacy, but meanwhile, they’ve embraced the same kind of, “nothing you can do as a person matters as much as your race” thinking that those people have.
* …tell you that they believe in science, except, you know, when it comes to issues involving being able to change sex at will or when it comes to preventing COVID with masks.
* …get offended if you say they’re unpatriotic, then they’ll rundown America at every opportunity and burn the American flag.
* …claim to be horribly upset by school shootings, but then they’ll try to block everything designed to reduce school shootings other than taking guns from law-abiding gun owners, which seems highly unlikely to ever happen.
* …openly talk about how great it will be when white Americans are no longer a majority in America, but then they’ll claim that anyone who points out laws supported by liberals is causing it is engaged in some kind of white supremacist conspiracy theory.
* …go on and on about tolerance while being so incredibly intolerant of different views that they even push other liberals who disagree with them about one or two things out of their own party.
* …tell you how awful the rich are even if they have 3 homes, millions in the bank, and rake in big bucks from billionaires at fundraisers before every election.
* …go on and on about affordable housing and income inequality, but where are those things the worst in America? In cities that are under the complete control of liberal Democrats.
* …treat government like it’s the answer to every problem, but for the most part, they also don’t care if government programs are cost-efficient, effective, or work at all. Liberals will defend a wildly expensive, completely dysfunctional government program to the death if it has a compassionate-sounding name or employs a lot of liberals.
* …claim that conservative criticism of liberal groups or even just telling people what the Left says will lead to “stochastic terrorism.” Meanwhile, left-wing smearing of cops created riots in liberal cities all across America, two assassination attempts against Donald Trump, and a domestic terrorism campaign against Tesla. Their reaction to that? Shrug. Those aren’t liberals, so who cares?
* …will bash rich people as greedy, sneer at Christians, and hold straight, white men in disdain, then claim the only reason any of those people could possibly vote against them is because they must be Nazis.
* …tell you that Nazis deserve to be punched, then turn around and claim that pretty much everyone who disagrees with them is a Nazi.
* …tell you Trump is a despot with totalitarian tendencies and then turn around and support censorship, a rigidly controlled “free” press, political violence aimed at their enemies, and a captured government that pursues their aims whether they’re technically in charge of it or not.
We’re gonna need more mental institutions.

Good morning, C&C, it’s Saturday! I’m blogging from a lovely hotel in Santa Monica that is jam-packed with Russians for some reason. Friendly folks with a tell-tale language. It really takes visiting California to remind one of its natural beauty, majestic coastlines, and deadlocked interstate highways. I can see why many California conservatives want to stay and fight against the odds.
Anyway, today’s traveling C&C is a special edition about —what else?— yesterday’s breaking tsunami over the Supreme Court tariff decision. Prepare for a take you haven’t seen anywhere else yet.

Those folks were the NICEST and most interesting people you’d ever want to meet. And the 3rd basses (the lowest) in the choir could sing notes BEYOND the bottom of the keyboard… We performed the Rachmaninoff Vespers All-Night Vigil) and it was great… recorded on Melodiya/Angel records… not sure if it’s still in print (that being 50 years ago almost)…
But those folks (and those days) were great…
And Jeff at C&C has well-reasoned and thoughtful analyses of MAGA and current events that aren’t troubled by the manic hysteria and black-pilling of the “environment”….
