We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co-worker … to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, so that no one would be unsettled by these trials.
For you know quite well that we are destined for them.
In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling you that we would be persecuted.
And it turned out that way, as you well know.

Ephesus, I think, and if it is Ephesus, St. Paul walked along that road.

JasonD

A strange atheist you are – apparently well studied … 🙂

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Many atheists know the Bible VERY well from their former lives as Christians (and they will often tell you the Bible is a major reason they became atheists). I can’t count myself among them, however. I have a middlin’ level of knowledge about it.

andrew1979

not sure if steve can relate – but i feel like atheist is a term that is ambiguos in definition depending on your outlook! if you are a believer in a “god” then you think an atheist does not believe in anything. there is an atheist who goes between believing in something out there but it’s not a “god” in definite terms. then you have the hard core complete nothingness atheist there is no soul,, dust to dust, no consciousness beyond your own awareness as living.
my upbringing was christian my mind would not fully submit and i have explored many ideas and postulations including the bible very often while i am trying to uncover that one piece.
it is obvious to a christian view that i am simply one step away from acceptig christ and laying it all down and trusting that in the right time i will know…and i respect that view, and i know what i am doing is considered a blasphemous sin in regard to christianity – i am trying to follow clues and get to the answer before it is revealed in due time – but that is the way it is for me.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

not sure if steve can relate – but i feel like atheist is a term that is ambiguos in definition depending on your outlook! if you are a believer in a “god” then you think an atheist does not believe in anything. there is an atheist who goes between believing in something out there but it’s not a “god” in definite terms. then you have the hard core complete nothingness atheist there is no soul,, dust to dust, no consciousness beyond your own awareness as living.

The thing about the term “atheist” is that it simply lists one thing that the individual does not believe. It gives you very limited information as to what the person does believe to be true about, e.g., the nature of the world and about people. It’s certainly true that a lot of atheists specifically are philosophical nihilists, but the rest of us find those assholes to be insufferable.
It would be like describing me as a “non stamp collector.” It may be true that I don’t collect stamps, but that really doesn’t tell you much about what I actually do. It would be a mistake to assume that all non-stamp-collectors burn stamps for recreation, or (sacre bleu) that all non-stamp-collectors collect coins, or collect anything, for that matter.

andrew1979

so i think we agree on that at a baseline that there are lighter shades of pale withing the term, the definition varying by the user. but the bigger thing you nailed was the part where the organized, stylized, rigid and rigorous framework of “religion” is not being embraced for whatever reason…

I was considering a photo of the coliseum in Rome, but for some reason was strongly drawn to this photo instead.

Beaitiful picture and verse.
Good that you didn’t pick the Coliseum in Oakland (with Mount Davis) 🙂 or even the one in LA…

You should consider a Best of Hillary photo gallery, maybe on a slow day during her trial …

Optimistic today – I like it …
We have to get a pic of her in cankcuffs – no doubt they will have to be custom made due to the size of the cankles under consideration …
I wonder if she will allow a patriot to measure them in preparation. Who is up for that duty? – My skin is crawling at the thought of touching “them” ….

A thousand meter job ought to be far enough away…provided it reads to within ten inches or so. Range the distance, measure the subtended arc, make the one foot wide cuffs.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

The very first time I saw that “why aren’t I 50 points ahead” video, I actually thought it was someone’s parody, using a (very unfortunate) Hillary look-alike.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

As I recall (please, nobody post the video), the entire background was tesselated (hah!) “I’m With Her” logos and her face was so puffy, visible especially when she drew her head back, that I didn’t think it was actually her.

wheatietoo

I think she was talking to some Union people in that video.
It’s funny that it got out…because I got the impression that she did that as a ‘speaking to the troops’ type of thing.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Basically any candidate for president should expect that ANY campaign appearance, even a “small private” one, will be taped and will get out.
Romney’s 47% speech was like that too.

daughnworks247

We see what you did there, Steve. Hehe.

singularZoe

Well, fortunately or unfortunately, I can’t see the pics of Her Thighness, but rumor has it she has a body double. Anyone have info on this?

gingersmom2009

Yes, remember the woman who appeared later on the street, after Hillary had collapsed into the van? One of the pictures (side view from the right) from the funeral looked like this particular substitute.

Cuppa Covfefe

Looks more like a double body to me… (sorry).
I wouldn’t be surprised if she has a double, but they probably have to do stunt work in their auditions, e.g. “fall like a slab of beef, into a van”, “roll eyes in oppostite directions, out of sync”,
“move head and neck like a pigeon, looking like it’s out of control”, and the hardest, like Meryl Streep (IIRC), “turn head 360 degrees while cacking evilly… 🙂

JasonD

Ja, me too. By the time I had seen 10 seconds of it, I knew the answer to the question she posed. Her level of self awareness is …….
Came up short on an adequate descriptor.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

…so low, the view overhead is the bottom side of a dime on the floor.

Cuppa Covfefe

Her level of self-awareness isn’t ?

Border wall construction in New Mexico…video is from July 2018.
Does this wall construction look 30 ft tall?
Steve and I were having a discussion about at the end of the last Open Thread.
It looks like it’s 30 ft tall to me…but what do you think?
[youtube

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

It looks to me like one of the standard bollard fences like you can see from I-8 just west of Yuma, and which also are in use at Tijuana/San Ysidro.
In fact, if you zoom in, right to the left of the sections sitting on the orange whatchamacallit, is a worker. These may not even be more than 12 feet tall.
Also I don’t recall any of the prototypes being bollards all the way up.

wheatietoo

There is a solid section across the top of these…and I was thinking that these were like one of the prototypes that had the open-view through the bottom.
But you’re right.
After looking at the prototypes again, that one that is similar, has a larger/taller solid section across the top.

para59r

For what it’s worth, the back end of the cement mixers seem to be about 1 to 3 ft lower then the top of the fence. I’d put it at about 16ft, same as for what the required height for an underpass is on an Interstate Hwy.
Regardless obstacles are an impediment and require a set of eyes and a physical response, both that are to be reliable, to be truly effective.
But we know this 🙂

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Oh, and something many don’t know (and many others might forget) about the prototypes, is they were intended to be the SECOND vertical barrier an illegal would encounter. He’d first encounter a bollard fence (built that way so border patrol can see through it), then go across a 150 foot (or so) empty enforcement zone (Border Patrol owns that and has full run of it), then hit the 30′ wall.

wheatietoo

That is good to hear.
Yes, the border patrol guys want to be able to see through it…which makes sense.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Having to go over two walls means they can’t just bring up a seige tower and climb over the thing…they’d simply be facing a second wall, even taller than the first one. Any equipment they bring to scale that second wall has to be something they can get over the first wall. And presumably the border patrol can watch that enforcement zone thoroughly.
ANY wall design will require active defenders as well.
I read a bit on the security at US mints in the 1800s. The vaults (filled with millions of dollars of either coinage, or silver/gold bullion) were invariably in the basement. In one case, the vault was completely surrounded by an open area. Anyone tunneling in would find themselves in the open area that was 20′ wide andregularly patrolled by guards. They’d then have to work in plain sight to breach the actual vault wall. Simple but effective (and admittedly much more costly to build, and the temptation to use the empty floor space to build more vaults must have been great).

andrew1979

and some american gladiator style tennis ball flak guns every no and again just for backup.

Unfortunately my husband still insists on Tucker, and perhaps Ingraham, daily. It’s literally like watching the same exact show, every night. The same face-offs, with the same cast of like minds and loons all week, every week. Victor Davis Hanson gets the same 4 minutes as some lady from Peta. I’m not complaining, I monitor this from another room while I peruse here!

JasonD

At the 39 sec mark you get a reasonable view of a worker next to the wall – wall is a bit more than 3x his height (squinting heavily)
So I’m going with 20 ft.

andrew1979

i would say short of 30 ft. those sevtions on the ground appear to be maybe 20ft? little longer than some of those pickups which are probably like 18 feet long depending on bed size? there are the bases that add but they are burried in a trench it looks like and cemented down in some manner. still 20 feet isnt bad. youd think a 20 foot wall ould be enough to say hey, come on, move along now. i mean whats the height we need?
ok, i would say 40 feet would be really ideal, but it seems like that would take a whole new level of design there…but 20 foot with 4 row double layer wire topping should be plenty.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Especially if it eventually becomes the outer wall of a two wall system.

wheatietoo

“still 20 feet isnt bad.”
_____
Yes, compared to…nothing at all…which is what we’re seeing for hundreds of miles in the drone video.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Someone (was it you?) posted a video of an area where it was literally an old style timber cattle fence. You could walk through it by stepping over the lower rails, and ducking under the high one.

wheatietoo

Could’ve been me…I’ve posted videos showing how bad it is down along the border.
And it’s ridiculously bad.

wheatietoo

Okay guys, I’ll take your word for it.

It’s prolly because guys have always told me that 6 inches is a foot.

andrew1979

i posted this in a couple threads ago nowwwww but i just finished it really. it was really begun in response to a discussion on that thread regarding what was the sampl mueller had and all that…i posted it at the end of that one instead of replying so it would go to the end and maybe get seen – but since we have a new daily thread here i will repost if that is acceptable:
guys just a quick note on the u1 deal, the “sample” by RM, hilldawgs roll, etc…
the way i understood it to be was that there was this deal going down for u1, 2008-2009 era.
time travel back to 2006… the US (some agency or agencies) was doing some kind of operation “against” clandestine radioactive materials smuggling…
anyway somewhere in 2006 the US came into possession of like some amount lets say like 120 grams of HEU in the russian territory of georgia. russia alleged that thee HEU could have been their property which had been “stolen” from them.
meanwhile the russians and the US (bush43) govts. were trying to do a deal on uranium rights (not yet known as U1 in the popular lexicon.
2007 turns into 2008… HEU seized in the sting still in our possession somewhere. not sure what is being said but uranium talks/negotiations still engaged.
in 2008 russia invades or somehow infringes on georgia in a mean way. we already know from my statement above the US has been tooling around in the area for a while, definitely since their sting op in 2006 when the HEU was recovered. so assume we cleared out or laid low or assisted in this russian aggression against georgia…BUT at the same time bush state department decides to cut off talks with russia regarding uranium as punishment for the unjust aggression in georgia…sound familiar end of administration some kind of hack job russia bad narrative comes out.
meanwhile money had been pouring into clinton foundation all this time because she had been running fior president for a bit and people were getting in line to play…
election 2008 and change comes to america do you know what i mean! russia still in poiticaal doghouse because georgia. but fear not because hillary is now sos. more money rolling in now. probably need a reset button on russia guys. more money coming in…
uranium talks resume after much love is professed and buttons pushed.
2009…one day russian and american guys are out having a smoke at a break in the uranium talks, they are happy things are going good, money flowing, russian guy says hey you remember that HEU that you sieed that we think was stolen? how abuot we get a little sameple of it to see if it matches our markers.
robert mueller is fbi boss. word comes down through state dept to get a little sample and deliver it too the guys we are doing business with as a favor to see if it was their stolen stuff. rm takes a snall vial placed inside a blast proof cylinder form fitting. cylinder is laid in a foam lined mini attache case which is closed and locked with a thumbprint and maybe a wax seal stamped with the ring on robs right hand to double verify authenticity.
mueller flies to moscow and delivers the mini attache case on the order of presumably hillary because her/office cabled all players involved saying mueller would indeed be flying in and would have the case containing the sample of HEU siezed by a US clandestine op in 2006 which the russians wanted to se if it was their looted stash..i mean just for closure to heal the would of the theft.
2010. uranium deal reached with russia!
much money has been flowwing the whole time to CF…
so the question is – 2006 wth was going on…sketchy bush kill deal…deal back and better than ever…deal done.
so really the only thing i keep wondering is what all was going on here? the sample wwas not the uranium rights it was a whole separate matter.
EDIT/ADD: i am not insinuating this leads to more mystery it may or may not. maybe it was a good gesture on our part who knows, i doubt it, but it cuold have been all innocent…i am sure hillary did not profit a dime from it… BUT the whole georgia / bush43 / reset / HEU vs uranium rights deal is often skimmed over and just becomes a giant U1 blob…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Ah, yes, this refreshes my memory on the HEU sample delivery (that one poster Over There habitually mischaracterizes as Bob Mueller personally delivering our entire nuclear arsenal to the Russians).

andrew1979

that is very true – and i wanted to say as much in that edit/add part i tacked on – because really in the grand scheme this is a thorny detail thats libel too waste your rime and snag on your socks and pantleg as you are trying to get out of the bushes.
no matter what – it happened. U1 and CF are tied together no doubt – and in extention of course the state department, FBI, and political entities creating all the details (like this sample thing) and then sealing the deal which brought the final piece to the puzzel rosenstein who was part of the signing of the agreement i believe…
that’s the big picture for sure.

I had all sorts of issues for a while, but they had more to do with the fact that I had to *force* a Brave upgrade…and then it still kept running the old version. Then it turned out that the old brave’s executable was “brave” but the new one was “brave-browser”. Once I changed the shortcut to point to “brave-browser” I lost everything, including history, and the notifier wouldn’t work. Eventually I had to allow all cookies to get it to work (even though there are ways to allow only some cookies, nothing I tried there would work).
So, nothing I can really blame wordpress for. At least not yet. Meanwhile, here’s hoping the upgrade solves the problem of having my screen scramble at random times.

So the problem is…?

JasonD

Remember the burn your Nike etc consumer protests?
We need to start a thing where people do that to their television sets – upload footage of destroying the device the communists use to brainwash us.
Now that would be VERY satisfying. …

JasonD

I suspect the VSG has some ideas – he is in the thick of it every day, and spent lots of time in the game …

A Fortiori (@AFortiori16)

It is really funny that you said this. After a visit to some family, my wife said she wanted a newer bigger TV
(ours is an eight year old monitor TV and fails to dominate the room). I started looking at the new TVs, hoping I could avoid buying one that is spying on me. Alas, if I want a bigger TV, I must buy a smart TV. Then I looked at the prices and lost interest. Yes, the new resolutions and video processors deliver a great picture. But there is no content that is compelling enough for me to continue down this road.

Gudthots

Our household picked up a bigger t.v. before they all were “smart.” In fact, right before an earthquake rocked our house. Needless to say it was looking rather unstable. Wall mount suddenly seemed like a very important addition.
Truth be told it’s hardly used (mainly for classic DVD movies), puts out tons of heat (not energy efficient, I guess), dominates a room that is better used for enjoying talking with friends (and it’s not the largest by far).
Since we fight to keep our home is free of wireless devices, we have found the previous (just as good) models of electronics can often be had for a song.

andrew1979

the rejecion of television and media in general would be a mighty blow to their attack and one they would not expect. unfortunately they have a huge head start in addiction but if that mirror could shatter there would be a prblem…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Even if, by some miracle, the most YSM-enclosed minds were to realize they’re being lied to and have been for the last few years, they will never realize that everything they’ve come to believe is a lie.
People in the Soviet Union were cynical enough to realize that Pravda was lying to them, but when that whole system finally collapsed, they were genuinely astonished at how many things they still believed were lies. A lot of lies were part of the culture they were fed and not obviously newsy-propaganda.

Sylvia Avery

I think there is just as big, or perhaps even bigger if you believe some of the new studies, problem with addiction to the devices. Added to that is the accumulation of power by the big tech companies to control, manipulate, and deny access to information and it is a pretty dangerous combination.
So while we’re dangling after the shiny object called TV which has dwindled significantly in importance) no one talks about tossing the smart phone in the trash or giving up our social media because after all that’s where we get our news.
I don’t know what the answer is. I just can see there is a really big problem.

trumpismine

I guess I have to turn the thing on to see if it still works before wasting my lighter fluid. Good gesture though

Cuppa Covfefe

If you have 220 (or better yet, 440) volts, and make a little *cough* adaptor, you can do both 🙂
It’ll be real bright for an instant, and then a gratifying flash-bang to celebrate its exit…
There’s a fellow on YouTube who, erm, stress-tests electrical and mechanical devices, usually by giving them voltages substantially outside of their specifications. His “brick in the washer on spin cycle” is also quite funny… (though I rather suspect his wife was a bit cheesed off about her flower bed being stamped down by said washing machine 🙂 )…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Ah yes.
I get the impression you’re in Europe somewhere.
House wiring in the United States is generally at 110V, but there are actually two distinct “sets” of circuits in a house, the first set has voltage peaking at one moment in time, the other set has voltage at its lowest at that time; they have opposite sign relative to ground. If you were to measure the voltage between the two sets of circuits, you’d see 220V as the result. (NB: Current code calls for every other outlet in your kitchen to be on one circuit, the others on the other, so if you somehow manage to connect yourself to adjacent outlets, you can get a VERY nasty shock!) Those few circuits in your house that are 220 (electric dryer, electric stove) thus tap into both lines. In any case, a 110V TV somehow connected to that would have a very bad day.
I know that in at least parts of Europe the standard voltage is 220V, and I *suspect* (especially given that you mentioned it just now) they do the same thing with back-to-back voltages and have 440V outlets in places. I don’t expect you’d ever see 440V in an American house, though. The good news, overloading a TV by double whatever voltage it expects will be equally deadly in both cases.
If all else fails, an American can always ship their TV to Europe to have it fried, for double effect.

Cuppa Covfefe

Actually, I’m an escapee from Kalifornistan, but living in Germany and travelling all over Europe the last 35 years, so I’ve seen some pretty gnarly ‘leccy installations here. What I meant was (considering that some folks might only have 110), that if 220, or especially rare, 440 were available, bigger bangs would be too 🙂
Here in Germany we have three-phase (!) at 230V per phase (to ground) (was 220 before, the UK has 240), which is allowed to vary around 10% which can get interesting. It rarely does, but with the Greens mucking about with power generation and source types, it could get far worse. We’ve had three power failures in this year (in my household); as many as the 34 years previous. For three-phase loads this ends up as 400V, which can be quite interesting.
Some folks have “instant” water heaters near the taps that run on this. Heats REALLY quickly… I prefer gas water heaters, because electricity is obscenely expensive here, and heading upwards… 🙁
(The electrical codes here are REALLY picky about having adjacent outlets on different phases…as in “DON’T DO THAT!…).

trumpismine

These newer TV’s (without the big old tubes that used to sometimes die dramatically would have the potential to blow-outs in various differently scenarios) just quietly fry a little component. Be easy to just blow it up with a propane balloon maybe. Naw, too old and sensible these days but it would be fun 🙂

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

The very people who most need to pull their heads out of their YSM TV screens are the ones who will never hear of such a campaign…because their heads are stuck in their YSM TV screens.
Catch 22.

If it weren’t for the fact that her eyes were open, I’d say she dozed off and jerked back awake as soon as she felt her head fall back.

TheseTruths

It’s not just the eye-rolling, but the rocking back and forth that she seems unaware of, giving the impression that there is some carefully controlled condition that we sometimes get a glimpse of. Everything about her is carefully controlled for public consumption. But she is a sick woman, body and soul.

NebraskaFilly

I despise the evil witch but, IMO, she was listening to singing, swaying a bit to the music, then following along in the program.

Sylvia Avery

I recorded Heather MacDonald on Life, Liberty, and Levin over the weekend and finally watched it. And now I’m a little disturbed.
Heather MacDonald is the woman who wrote the book on policing that had all the liberals panties in a twist and I think she coined the term “Ferguson effect.”
She has a new book, The Diversity Delusion, so she is making the rounds. She spent a lot of time and energy looking into college campuses and the incomprehensible rise and growth of the radical diversity programming which has evolved like crazy since it was first introduced.
Here’s where I started to get a little scared, frankly. It has now gotten to the point where there is no meritocracy even in STEM fields. Instead, they are all wrapped up in fighting over the few women and minority STEM students and faculty. Their priority is identity parity, not excellence. But China and Russia aren’t obsessing about this issue. Instead they are focusing on growing and expanding their scientific programs.
Heather MacDonald is an intelligent person and a fairly deep thinker. I got a lot out of this segment. There was a lot more to it than just this discussion about diversity, but basically the Commies infiltrated our school system as we all know and they have about ruined us all, and they are teaching us to hate one another.

daughnworks247

Sylvia, this is an enormous problem in STEM fields. Diversity/liberal arts creeping into peer review is killing the science can no longer build on past work before testing a previously concluded hypothesis because so many are revealed to be false.
Long story short, Gunner (son) was seriously considering Texas A&M Engineering School. As a sophomore in HS, he was accepted to our state’s math and science school where he would pick up a LOT of college credits. We knew some universities, like Ga Tech/Duke/MIT/USMA/USNA would not accept transfer credit for univ level calculus/physics/chem unless they were taught by their own universities – therefore Gunner should take the univ level required English/Humanities/Foreign Lang requirements in high school and get those out of the way as those credits WOULD transfer. Gunner ended up w/34 credits and skipped a year of college – which saved him time and saved us thousands of dollars. Thank you, son.
But each univ had different rules for transfer credit. So, we made the rounds and scheduled interviews with heads of dept’s and admissions to double check on what was permissible.
At Texas A&M, Gunner met w/ Head of Dept of Computer Science and Electrical Eng. Big appointment for a 10th grader and Gunner was looking for an edge. The drive to A&M, for us, was 11 hours. So, Gunner downloaded all the past peer review work of this guy — and read it all in the car – so he could at least talk to the guy. Come to find out, this guy developed the red wavy hair for Merida, Princess at Disney. Cool.
When Gunner mentioned the guys past work, the guy was amazed Gunner actually read his work (good idea, son). BUT we were wondering why he had not published in the past 3 yrs. Of course, he had become head of Dept. but he launched into an animated diatribe that was most revealing.
He told us, specifically, how peer review is scored and that it has turned into a popularity contest. The more one paper/study of work is cited by others brings prominence. He railed about having to check a past hypothesis because the studies/experiments are sloppy. There is no longer a reliable foundation to expand on someone else’s theory. A scientist cannot proceed with a false premise. He said the current environment is ‘killing the science’.
The problem in academia is enormous.
If we really think about it – the implications for American innovation are stymied.
My jaw was on the floor. What if Newton or Einstein were wrong but ‘popular’?
The guy then took my son into what was supposed to be a serious private interview where they giggled and cackled for 2 hours. The pair appeared briefly to inform me they were going into a luncheon/presentation for grad students the guy had to run for the afternoon – he absconded with my son.
All was well.
Gunner nailed it.

Sylvia Avery

Wow, great story and good for your son! Until watching Heather MacDonald talk in this interview I had no idea how gender/identity politics had infected science and is very obviously destroying our ability to compete scientifically. It is truly frightening.
It is as if a war is being fought and we are surrendering or shooting ourselves first before our enemies can.

churchmouse

I’m borrowing Felice’s post from December 5 on the ‘Senator Graham Explains’ thread:

Here’s the dialogue:
‘KILMEADE: “If Kislyak talks to Flynn and Flynn is on the other side, Flynn is an American, we should not have that name unmasked, correct?”
‘STRASSEL: “Well, right.”
‘KILMEADE: “Then how does ‘The Washington Post’ get it?”
‘STRASSEL: “Well, there is two aspects. There is what the Obama administration was doing with the unmasking, which is there some ugly things going on there, and we still don’t have all the answers to those questions. But then someone leaks the name. And that’s just a flat out felony, punishable up to 10 years in jail. And again, there seems to be no interest in the special counsel’s office as to that crime and how Flynn’s name got out there in the first place.”‘
https://twitter.com/PoliticalShort/status/1070342757359763458

A Fortiori (@AFortiori16)

Bongino went even further on Flynn. He posits that the Hussein Admin shuttered a Russian facility and kicked some Russians out of the country in order to piss off the Russians and cause Kislyak to call Flynn at a time when Flynn was out the US on vacation. This meant Flynn would not have access to the secure communications gear he would normally use, and that Hussein would be able to vacuum up the call.
So if I have this right: (1) Hussein set up the call so as to catch Flynn away from secure communications, (2) illegally recorded it (even if there was a FISA warrant on Kislyak, it is contrary to the Fourth Amendment and thus illegal under the FISA statutes to target a US person), (3) illegally unmasked the fact that Flynn was on the call, (4) got Pence to say something publicly that was contrary to what they already knew Flynn had said to Kislyak, (5) illegally disclosed Flynn’s conversation to Ignatius at WP who wrote a story making it clear that Flynn’s call contradicted Pence’s public statement, (6) interviewed Flynn in a situation where Flynn thought it was a security briefing for an incoming Administration while in fact he was the target of a criminal investigation on an unconstitutional Logan Act offense, (7) Spun on the controversy on the difference between Pence and Flynn that got Flynn fired, and …. then, after main DOJ refused to prosecute (8) doctored the 302s memorializing the interview, and (9) got Mueller to charge Flynn.
These people are evil.

churchmouse

That was when O expelled the Russian diplomats just before Christmas 2016.
Your explanation makes perfect sense, because that mass expulsion seemed like such a weird thing to do.
What a lot of machinations which affected not only Flynn but other innocent people.

How prevalent is the socialist/communist bias on Google and YouTube (and Apple as we learned yesterday)???

churchmouse

On the subject of censorship, I watched the interview of Brad Parscale for Frontline on PBS (video posted yesterday).
It is really good, and the last part is a discussion about censorship. The interviewer, sadly, was in total denial.
I was rather cross and frustrated by the end of it.
By the way, Parscale said he receives quite a few letters from people who have been censored on FB. They send him their last post — e.g. an uplifting message about their Christian journey — along with the FB notice.
That said, he said that FB was still the best vehicle out there for political campaigning and fund raising.

GA/FL

I will not sign up for FB – it’s just too censorious and partisan….and intrusive. But I guess Google, Twitter and Amazon are the same way as far as using people and their information as a source of profit and a target to try to indoctrinate/misinform.

churchmouse

I don’t use Google or have a Twitter account, either, for the same reasons you state.
That said, reading Twitter is really handy for getting a) daily headlines and b) simple explanations.

Pat Frederick

i do have a fb account–but I think i post only a dozen or some times a year–I do like to keep track of my kids–both liberals who love to post so many details of their lives it’s mind boggling.
But i do take great pleasure in finding posts “offensive”.
Let me explain: I have several friends who’s opinion of POTUS I cannot change–I accept that. But when they post anti-Trump memes or memes with misstatements about POTUS…I flag them. it may not do any good, but I smile and flag them anyway. when fb responds and asks why…I tell them they are either erroneous or offensive…my own little pushback…lol

churchmouse

Here is John Solomon telling Hannity that PDJT is committed to declassification but that he and his WH counsel are ‘fearful’ of doing so at this time (see last two minutes or so, near the end):

SD says on his John Solomon thread, accompanied by the video:
‘Wait.. A.. Minute.. James Comey is scheduled to appear on Friday right? Now ask yourself: why would the people feeding information to Solomon want him to push this story into the media bloodstream ahead of that testimony? Wouldn’t earnest investigators prefer to question Comey about these emails without him having time to prepare?….
‘Think about it.’
I went through the video. Admittedly, I could well have missed something. BUT I did not hear Solomon say anything of the sort. Most of the video is about what happened with the dirty dossier, FISA and the rest of the story we already know. The last two minutes are the ones worth listening to.
But, I’m wondering if Solomon said something in another segment that wasn’t included in this video. In any event, it appears that the interview concludes at the end of the video.
I do not understand where SD got this thing about Comey appearing for a hearing on Friday night. It sounds absurd on all sorts of levels.
As I say, I’m welcome to be told where I missed that detail in the video.

wheatietoo

Churchmouse, I don’t think you’ve missed a thing.
Comey will be asked about his *own* emails.
Because these are his *own* emails…he knows what it is in them…and he knows who he was talking to in them.
What’s to “prepare” for?

churchmouse

Exactly — thank you, wheatie!
The other element is that SD made it sound that the hearing would take place on Friday night. Surely not. (What hearings start at night?) And no one in the comments even questioned it.

wheatietoo

Seems odd.
But they’re working against the clock…so, who knows.
Maybe they’ve got other things scheduled for the daytime?
Congress has worked late into the night before, when they have to.
But usually it’s because they are continuing something that went on all day.
So yeah, ‘starting’ it at night is strange.

Aubergine

Maybe you mis-read this:
‘Wait.. A.. Minute.. James Comey is scheduled to appear on Friday right?
Keyword, right. Not night.
https://www.politico.com/story/2018/12/03/comey-to-testify-on-capitol-hill-on-friday-1040528
I’m with you guys on the “prepare” thing. SD is grasping at straws with that one. Comey knows exactly what is in those emails, and he knows they will be asking. I think SD forgets that the Deep State is part of the group who will be asking the questions. Of course, they would have found a way to let Comey know what questions were coming.

churchmouse

Thank you very much, Aubergine — greatly appreciated.
I looked at it three times, too. (D’oh!)

Pat Frederick

precisely this! and he’s a liar…so tipping him off so he knows how to lie about them? I don’t think any of the participants in this farce need coaching or practice lying. he’s had months to prepare…

churchmouse

Too right, Pat!

TheseTruths

It’s SD throwing doubt on Solomon’s having well-connected sources. SD continually tries to discredit Solomon, Sara Carter, and Hannity, and of course Q — all people who are on the inside or who have good sources who are. Another person with insider sources is Dan Bongino, and I think SD knows that direct criticism of him would be going too far, so he tolerates him and looks for things to correct that Bongino says without blatantly discrediting him. Plus, I think SD has no grounds to discredit what Bongino says.
The more info that is revealed by these people, the more SD doubles down. That is not consistent with “truth has no agenda.”

TheseTruths

Out of al those people, Bongino is the only one that we know 100% has been an insider at the White House, and it makes sense that he has contacts.

churchmouse

Bongino has SD by the short hairs by giving him credit for so many stories. SD can’t say anything against him now without sounding like a crank.
How SD can imply that John Solomon is a friend or unwitting ally of the DS is simply breathtaking(ly wrong). Ditto Sara Carter.
SD has to accept that he is where he is. He’s had many mentions on television and online. He should be happy with those.
Then there’s Hannity. Yes, those of us who are CTH alums know what Hannity is talking about. No need for anything more from him. However, a lot of average Americans receive red pills from Sean. That’s great. Also, by having Sara Carter and similar investigative journalists on, he’s helping to keep the red pills coming. That is a good thing!
It seems something could be eating away at SD. Envy, perhaps?
**Your last paragraph is really over the target.** Thanks for that. SD disparaging everyone else on the same team is hardly something his hero Andrew Breitbart would have approved.

wheatietoo

Okay, I just tried out something for the 4th time, and it seems to work.
SteveInCo mentioned something upthread about the “reply to last comment” curse.
If you’ve ever had your reply drop down to the bottom as a New Comment…instead of appearing below the comment you’re replying to…then you’ve experienced this phenomenon.
Steve offered a fix that he’s discovered.
Thanks for that, Steve.
I think I’ve discovered another one:
If you’re replying to the Last Comment, then try clicking on the ‘Reply’ button for that comment.
Then click on ‘Cancel Comment’.
Repeat this three times.
Reply –> Cancel.
Reply –> Cancel.
Reply –> Cancel.
Then go ahead and type out your reply…and it should appear under the comment you’re replying to.
I know, it seems silly…but it’s worked for me.

JasonD

Wheatie, I have had the problem happen a few times, but only because I accidentally clicked on the BIG BLACK “Leave a Reply” icon, which is always at the very bottom of the page and which creates a new thread, as opposed to the little blue “Reply” icom with a little blue arrow next to it, which appears directly below the comment you want to reply to.
If you accidentally click on the “:Leave a Reply” icon, all you do is press “Cancel reply” then REFRESH the page and all is good – start again.
Unfortunately, if you correctly click on the small blue “Reply” icon, it LOOKS THE SAME as if you clicked on the “Leave a Reply” icon and the little blue “Reply” icon appears above the comment box like you have not selected correctly – this is confusing.
The point is to make sure, when replying to the last comment, that you actually did click the blue “Reply” icon and then trust yourself.
Not sure if that helps

wheatietoo

That is a possibility…and can surely account for it, sometimes.
But I know for certain that it has happened to me when I clicked on the ‘Reply’ button for the last comment.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Unfortunately, if you correctly click on the small blue “Reply” icon, it LOOKS THE SAME as if you clicked on the “Leave a Reply” icon and the little blue “Reply” icon appears above the comment box like you have not selected correctly – this is confusing.

Yes, you can make the mistake and not realize it. In fact, I suspect that’s what is always happening when people complain about it.
But what I discovered is that it doesn’t look quite the same.
If you’re replying to the bottommost comment on the page, and you’re wondering if that’s actually what you’re doing, look to the left of the reply box you’re typing in. If you do NOT see any light gray vertical lines (one for each level of indent of whatever it is you’re replying to–for instance, I see one right now), you’re actually writing a new comment, whether you intended to or not. At that point, select everything you wrote, copy it, blank it out, cancel the reply and hit the blue arrow, then paste.

JasonD

Thanks. After I posted this I remembered seeing your post and did not know what you were on about – now I do 🙂

JasonD

I noticed another difference, just to sow some confusion.
If you selected the blue reply icon – “cancel reply” appears at top right of the box.
If you are busy initiating a new comment, “cancel reply” does not appear a second “tell”

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Ah, hah! Now that you mention it–the time just before I made that post, a time when I noticed the lack of the line and wondered if it was significant–there wasn’t a cancel button.
That’s why I ended up selecting all on my reply (that’s ctrl-A on my box), then copying (ctrl-C) then DELETING with the backspace key.
That emptied the box; once empty, it thought I didn’t want to make a reply and I could see and hit the blue reply link that I actually wanted.
In other words to cancel a new comment, empty the box. (Save what you wrote by copying first, so you don’t lose your work.)

Cathy M posted this 2002 article from the NYT. 9/11 figures in it. Mueller was FBI director at this time. Excerpt follows:
https://www.nytimes.com/2002/08/23/us/secret-court-says-fbi-aides-misled-judges-in-75-cases.html?ref=oembed
‘The nation’s secret intelligence court has identified more than 75 cases in which it says it was misled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in documents in which the bureau attempted to justify its need for wiretaps and other electronic surveillance, according to the first of the court’s rulings to be released publicly.
‘The opinion by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, which was issued in May but made public today by Congress, is stinging in its criticism of the F.B.I. and the Justice Department, which the court suggested had tried to defy the will of Congress by allowing intelligence material to be shared freely with criminal investigators.
‘In its opinion, the court rejected a secret request made by the Justice Department this year to allow broader cooperation and evidence-sharing between counterintelligence investigators and criminal prosecutors. The court found that the request was ”not reasonably designed” to safeguard the privacy of Americans. The court generally operates in secret and is responsible for approving warrants to eavesdrop on people suspected of espionage or terrorism.
‘The opinion may be important in documenting why the F.B.I. was hesitant last summer to seek court authority to search the computer and other belongings of Zacarias Moussaoui, the only person charged in the Sept. 11 attacks.
‘Mr. Moussaoui was arrested in Minnesota last August, and F.B.I. officials have acknowledged that their failure to investigate him more fully was among the mistakes that allowed the Sept. 11 hijackers to operate in the United States undetected in the weeks before the attacks.
‘Officials have previously acknowledged that at the time of Mr. Moussaoui’s arrest, the F.B.I. was wary of making any surveillance requests to the special court after its judges had complained bitterly the year before that they were being seriously misled by the bureau in F.B.I. affidavits requesting surveillance of Hamas, the militant Palestinian group.
‘As a result of the complaints, the Justice Department opened an internal investigation of the conduct of senior F.B.I. and Justice Department officials. Department officials said the inquiry was still under way and could result in disciplinary action.
‘Justice Department officials noted that the criticism of the department in the opinion referred mostly to actions by the department and the F.B.I. in the Clinton administration.’

wheatietoo

Hmm…so the FISA court is basically saying, “Oh yeah, we’ve had a problem with the FBI lying to us before.”…?
Mmkay.
Well you’d think that this would cause the FISA Judges to exercise a little more scrutiny on the requests for warrants…instead of less, which is what happened with the requests to Spy on Team Trump.

“in order to facilitate their agenda”
Yep.
And within – what was it, a week? – the so-called “Patriot Act” was passed (97-3, IIRC), taking away our liberties in the (false) name of “security”.
It was totally contrary to Ben Franklin’s sage advice, that whoever gives up liberty, to gain security, shall have NEITHER. (I paraphrase a little.)

The Episcopal Church service I used to attend started at noon and ended at 3 p.m., although, as it was based on the Seven Last Words of Christ, one could come and go.
Yep, I got a lot of questions, too, for working only mornings on Good Friday, including from Catholics. (I can’t speak to political persuasion.)

Deplorable Patriot

Some parishes do the service on Good Friday in the evening, but there has been a concerted effort to put it back where it belongs at 3pm. And, honestly, the reading of the Passion According to St. John is about the only time in the liturgical year reverence happens in the choir lofts. And it’s been that way in every place I’ve sung.

churchmouse

I grew up with 12-3 being the time where you either went to church or stayed home and prayed, recalling our Lord’s three hours on the Cross.
Here in the UK you couldn’t buy strong drink 20+ years ago between 12 and 3. The government relaxed that law some years ago, but those three hours used to be universal.

According to the article there is support for the idea in the public, and the academic spheres. That does not mean the people advocating for this have really thought things through, though.

The Dems probably love this idea now…since they no longer have a majority on the SC.

I’ll bet you they’d gain an appreciation for the electoral college if they ever won an election where their POS candidate lost the popular vote, too. Which is why I was hoping that would happen in 2012.
(I didn’t think Obola would lose that [I have no idea what Dick Morris was smoking, but it’s gotta be something still illegal in Colorado], but I figured if he at least lost the popular vote…)

Great thread on the Panama Papers, which is another big scandal bubbling for the past 3+ years.

Name of law firm is Mossack Fonseca – a one stop shop for the wealthy.
In this long and thorough thread by Ben Tallmadge, there is a link to a BBC article from 2016. It’s post #22 in the thread.
Post #22 deals with China’s Chairman Xi’s sister and brother-in-law, who have hidden hundreds of millions in real estate and other investments, offshore.
It’s Chairman Xi’s older sister.
Better known as ‘leverage’ for President Trump. The article discusses how the problem of Chairman Xi’s sister bubbled up on social media and was mysteriously quashed. Threads were deleted.

IMO, it is worth the read and to remember a few things about the Obama years:
During the first term, few Inspectors General were appointed, if any, so there was no internal watchdog in a lot of departments, including Hillary Clinton’s State Department. (Maybe that was a condition of her stooping to take that job?) That would partially explain why Congress and the rest of us found out about her renegade server during the Benghazi investigation.
When Michael Horowitz was hired to be an IG, Holder hamstrung him. He had zero access to the material he needed to do his job which is part of the reason why Fast & Furious and other DOJ scandals remain stuck in Americans’ craws. They, and the scandals from the State Department like Benghazi, could not be pursued with any sort of assurance it would be done right until the DOJ and FBI were free from the firewalls.
Drawandstrike reiterates the point that Horowitz was FINALLY let loose under Sessions. It’s not that there was not interest in investigating the scandals, the IG was prevented from doing that by the very people he should have been investigating.

wheatietoo

” (Maybe that was a condition of her stooping to take that job?)”
_______
Remember, Hillary was the first one to bring up HusseinO’s birth certificate.
She did that during the 2008 primaries.
Hillary knew where a lot of BHO’s skeletons were buried…because she is from Chicago too.
So I think that she was given that SOS job and was given free reign to cash in on it, in any way she wanted to.
When HusseinO took office…they were given the keys to the ‘candy store’ at the NSA.
The Dems hadn’t had control of that since the Patriot Act was passed…which allowed for more invasive snooping on people than ever before.
I think that both HRC and the HusseinO-team, were mining NSA servers for anything they could find…to use for extortion, blackmail, intimidation — and to offer for sale to others, to be used for the same things.
And since the NSA data collection was worldwide, it opened up the whole world to them for their illegal schemes.

Yes, we are all keeping an open mind based on our lack of complete knowledge, but it is hard to think of any possibilities other than the two stated, and it is very, very difficult to believe the second possibility.
But the second possibility is what folks at other sites have adopted, inevitably leading to their anti-Trump pov.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Yep.
If you accept that Trump hired a lot of snakes and won’t correct the issue, you have to accept that he’s incompetent, or worse, that he himself is a phony and has deceived us–he’s really on their side too.
Their evidence for this is, ultimately, that “nothing has happened yet” meaning that HRC, et. al. are still running around free.
The only in-between-ish hypothesis is that Trump is trying to follow a plan, and inadvertently hired someone who is secretly disloyal to it. Conceivably, that person could act so as to look as if he’s going along, but really be working to sabotage things. Consider an example of how this could happen: all those sealed indictments. Perhaps they are all against the Deep State or against pedophiles. But can anyone really be SURE of that? Perhaps whoever is generating them has in fact aimed them at people who lead the pro-Trump movement on the internet. Can Trump know, if they’re sealed.

Marica

Steve– Interesting in-between-ish…AND that’s why we gotta keep reminding ourselves We Don’t know what we don’t know… So I probably should (eye roll) regarding other sites …Til it ALL comes out…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

It’s not just that we don’t know for sure who is and is not a white/black hat (though there sure are a lot of people out there who are positive they know who is wearing what hat). It’s that Trump might not know either.
This is the sort of sneakiness you think only exists in spy novels. Well guess what!
And I haven’t even brought in the possibility of gray hats, or people whose color hat depends on context (someone might be white hat when it’s an immigration issue, but black when it’s a trade issue; or will be reliably white–as long as you don’t go after their childhood friend who is wearing a black hat.)
Complicated business, folks, complicated business.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

And I just thought of another “in-between-ish” that’s a lot darker.
This is one where Trump goes into office, is deceived into hiring a bunch of black hats, and then, on discovering this, was prepared to fire the lot of them–but he was then given the word that he’d be impeached and removed from office (or removed via the 25th amendment) if he moved on anyone. The latter could be a possibility if the VP and enough of his cabinet were black hats.
At that point he’d be on our side, still, but be hamstrung; he’d be too surrounded by Deep State to be able to do anything but serve as a figurehead.
I don’t think this is likely.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

They weren’t in positions that allowed them to have 25th amendment removal power, in any case.

Marica

Agree Wolfie– Also VSG wouldnt be easily deceived…Even if he didn’t have a ton of top military backing him up…

“I hesitate”
Aw, just go for it.
Complexity mirrors simplicity – so in the end, it’ll all work out!
A little background on William of Ockham might be nice – IIRC, he was from the Scholastic Age, a period during the later Middle Ages (ending ~1400), after the Dark Ages which followed the fall of the Roman Empire.
The movie “The Name of the Rose” (Sean Connery, Christian Slater), based on the book of the same name (by Umberto Eco – a FANTASTIC read!), gives a good flavor of the time, in re the preservation of written knowledge, for which monasteries were particularly suited.
In short, the original words of the oft-cited credo – in the originator’s own words – is the best “sauce”.
(Decades ago, I took an amazing course at Harvard Ext School – taught by the Dept Head of Harvard proper – called “Science in the Middle Ages”. Among the luminaries of the period, we studied William of Ockham, St. Augustine, and many others.)
Up to you …

Emeraldstar

No problem!
For me, the salient difference between what the credo said, v. how it’s used, is that the original conception was that the simplest answer is LIKELY to be the right answer; it isn’t – and was never intended to be – a GUARANTEE.
Couple this with the psy-ops tactic of providing a convenient “simplest” answer, which is in truth INCORRECT (Eckert’s Law, yes?), and the complexity confuses most.
Btw, in the book version, a great deal of background info was given, about the dissension in the religious orders (especially Jesuits), in re the “poverty” of Jesus, and whether it was true, and whether it should be emulated. The tremendous library of the Abbey (where both the book and the movie takes place), played a central role in the plot.
What information should be allowed to be read? What should be censored? Who’s beliefs should rule? Etc.
It’ll take ME a bit of time, as well, to retrieve my own course notes, to help give some flavor.
700 years ago, society was struggling with the SAME problems. And politics was just as powerful then, as it is now.
Cheers!

Tonawanda

Posting Eckhart’s Law was illuminating.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Replying to your lower level post up here, so that you’ll notice it:

For me, the salient difference between what the credo said, v. how it’s used, is that the original conception was that the simplest answer is LIKELY to be the right answer; it isn’t – and was never intended to be – a GUARANTEE.

It’s also much better used for scientific pursuits. You probably should prefer the simplest explanation, at least until you see something that complicates the picture and makes you realize your simplest explanation–doesn’t explain everything.
It’s a lot worse when trying to untangle human action, because a smart but sneaky adversary will make sure you see a simple picture that is false.
The scientific method is wonderful, but it does not work when someone/something is actively trying to deceive you. (When that happens, you need a very different, but still rationally grounded, thought process.) This is why scientists suck at detecting phony psychics and the like, and it’s better to use a magician for such things. Scientists are more adept (but not perfect) at making sure they don’t fool themselves in looking at the data, but they just don’t expect nature to try to defraud them; the magician know to look for tricks.

Emeraldstar

Well said, Steve.
Scientists have ever been pursuing simplicity. Even to the point of this being a defining requirement of their “Holy Grail”, the “Theory of Everything.” Simplicity has POWER. Physicists / scientists WANT it. And rightly so, btw.
For this theory, they want “elegance” – and this requires both simplicity, and parsimony (a minimum of extra “stuff”). As far as I know, they haven’t discovered / achieved it.
Who among us knows for sure, though? There’s plenty of evidence (and/or speculation) that MANY corporations, in many fields, have been holding back their discoveries, in order to better profiteer from their secreted knowledge, and to keep charging customers (in perpetuity, their goal) for lesser products. Who knows how many cures, and tech advances, they’re holding back? All to BILK the average Joe.
I like your “magician” analogy. It’s apt. Science, in the pursuit of intellectual purity, ignores the reality of the human condition. Lying can very VERY profitable, and profits can motivate people to do all sorts of “impure” things.
Thanks for the reasoned reply!

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

The “Theory of Everything” has been a tricky quest, in fact one might cutely refer to it as a holy grail.
But there was another instance, in a closely related field, where a massively complex mess turned out to have a fairly simple explanation. Physicists had discovered the proton, neutron, and neutrino, the first two particles very similar (almost the same mass, one with no electrical charge, the other with a positive charge). Then they started seeing more particles somewhat like these only more massive and quite unstable. There was, for instance, a particle with a negative charge (that wasn’t an antiproton), and another one with a double positive charge. It turned into such a huge list people started calling it the “Particle Zoo.”
Then someone realized the whole mess could be explained by positing the existence of exactly THREE more basic particles, quarks, which could be combined in groups of three to make these “baryons.” They were named up, down, and strange. (Strange never appears in normal matter.) Protons and neutrons, in particular consist of two ups and a down, and one up and two downs, respectively.
Eventually it was necessary to add three more of these quarks (charm, top and and bottom) but it still remains the fact that the truly bewildering array of baryons comes from a very small (and simple) list of quarks. In fact all of particle physics–all matter including matter that doesn’t exist in nature except in very highly energetic circumstances–ends up with a list of particles that fits on a postcard. It’s called the Standard Model and physicists simply haven’t been able to “break” it-it invariably tests out correct to many decimal places (though dark matter, when we know more about it, might do so, by extending it).
So I don’t really hold out the present day failure to find a TOE (theory of everything) against scientists. Our understanding of the world continually improves, we see a snapshot of a process, not the final result.

Greg Cox

On those rare occasions when doubt tries to creep in, I’ll refresh my memory with this:

IMO it’s the sole reason for the utter disdain of our President. They didn’t hate him before. I wonder who, how, when, “The Plan” of Donald J. Trump, was actually acknowledged as truth by the cabal?

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I find this particular video irritating. Not because of its contents, but because it’s “Trump The Establishment” with a still image from somewhere else (the rally with the kid dressed up like Trump).
Trump the Establishment was a fantastic video (I give it credit for turning me into an enthusiastic Trump supporter), I don’t understand why they have to try to repackage it though.

Greg Cox

I’m not understanding your relation of “Trump the Establishment” with the video.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Here’s Trump the establishment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tab5vvo0TJw
it’s the same speech. (Actually, Trump never gave this speech, instead this is a highly edited version of one of the Florida rallies in 2006, with appropriate graphics to go with Trump’s words.)
Somebody retitled it and put the still of the kid on the front of it, for no apparent reason. I don’t believe the scene with the kid actually appears in the video itself (though please point me to it if my memory is faulty; it has been a long time since I actually watched it all the way through). [If in fact the kid never appears in the video, that’s doubly irritating to me, because that’s a common trick to get you to watch a video, expecting to see something that’s not there.]
As a side note, I am thinking of transcribing the opening (“our movement is about…”) all the way through to the point where he calls out the globalists specifically (which gives away the identity of the speaker/writer)…and showing the text to my socialistic niece, who has never seen anything about Trump other than YSM pap, to see what she thinks of it.
And another side note: This IS the video that turned me from someone who was going to vote for Trump because he wasn’t Hillary (I am Never Hillary), to someone who was going to vote for Trump because he was Trump.

One thing about this whole Flynn/Kislyak/Pence deal confuses me. Why did the transition team NOT point out the fact that, during the November interview of VP Pence on Face The Nation, he was asked about team member’s having contact with Russians WHO WERE MEDDLING WITH THE ELECTION: “Just to button up one question, did any advisor or anybody in the Trump campaign have any contact with the Russians who were trying to meddle in the election?” Pence’s reply: “Of course not. And I think to suggest that is to give credence to some of these bizarre rumors that have swirled around the candidacy.”
Then Flynn lied (according to OT) in order to cover Pence? Nah, doesn’t make sense to me at all!
“That toxic media environment and Mike Pence speaking poorly during a Face The Nation interview was the issue. Once Vice-President Mike Pence made the statement that Flynn had no contact with anyone from Russia etc. any contradictory statement from Flynn would make Pence appear compromised; so Flynn had to stick to Pence’s false point without clarification. Flynn was interviewed by the FBI on January 24th, nine days after Pence made his comments.”
No, IMO, Pence didn’t “speak poorly.” He answered the question as asked!!!! SMH – when will the GOP stop rolling over for the press????

Aubergine

I have thought EXACTLY this the whole time!
It makes no sense. We have the example of a past President parsing over the meaning of the word “is,” and this couldn’t be brushed off? B.S.
Along with Flynn’s history, this has always led me to believe he was playing along for his own (and our President’s) reasons. It’s the only thing that makes any sense. Because Pence answering a question honestly and correctly being the reason for Flynn falling on his sword makes no sense, at all.

Greg Cox

Yep. You nailed it!

Greg Cox

Totally agree! NO ONE, can speak on the fly, without a mistake now and then (ex. Joe Biden).

NebraskaFilly

IMO, yes, agree w/Wolfie that it was a set-up. That begs the question: was Pence too naive to see it? Really??!!?? Was he unprepared for the depth and width of the vitriol from the MSM? DID he really “mis-speak?” TBH, I have never been 100% comfortable w/Pence. I felt DJT selected him because he HAD to get the evangelical vote, as well as possibly some of Pence’s fellow GOPe’s. I would not feel comfortable voting for Pence for President in 2024, altho I fear it will be another lesser-of-two-evils situation.

A Fortiori (@AFortiori16)

Pence could easily have stepped up and said the press is distorting my answer. Instead he throws Flynn under the bus. I hate it when republican politicians cower in fear of the press.

Court filings obtained by TMZ state that a judge in Orange County, California, ordered Avenatti to pay $162,295 per month—amounting to $1.9 million upfront—in child support and spousal support to Lisa Storie-Avenatti.
The settlement not only required Avenatti to cough up money for child and spousal support, but also required the left-wing lawyer to give up material possessions—including a 2017 Ferrari 488 GT Spider valued at $300,000, luxury wristwatches with an estimated $50,000 price tag, and high-priced works of art.
Avenatti, who had been married since 2011, separated from his wife in December 2017.”

Possibly; however, one has to question her character for getting involved with him in the first place, IMO. Unless she is also incredibly ignorant, like Stormy?

On another note, the fetish for super expensive wristwatches is just something I don’t understand. I wear one that is fairly expensive but still only three figures. It has a ton of functions, and it’s VERY accurate. (It came out before the atomic watches; which are horribly inaccurate but get corrected automatically so no one notices.) A lot of those luxury watches literally don’t have anything but two hands and no numerals on the dial, and cost thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. WTF! (I should hope that they are, at least, somewhat accurate!)

Oh, and some brands actually have cases of precious metals. A chunk of gold or platinum will definitely drive up the cost.

Yeah, well, we had the same hopes for DeVos. Now she is signing onto an agreement with Sweden, and pushing for merging Dept. of Labor with Dept. of ED. Not sure how I feel about that merger. I also want the Dept. of ED gone on the Federal level.

Deplorable Patriot

Depending on how it’s done, I can see that merger as beneficial. The Department of Education is failing the Department of Labor in a lot of ways. The news on that is not concentrated in one spot, but for a long time American kids have not been getting what they need to work. If labor sets the bar of what they need, education has to match it. That is not being done right now. I know there are a lot of people who want local control of education, but there still has to be national standards of what we need to know before graduating from higher education.

NebraskaFilly

Thanks – I can also see the advantages of marrying the two, particularly the idea of apprenticeships and trade schools. The problem I have is the leftest-leaning Swiss ideology coming along with that agreement, as a separate issue from the merger of the two departments.

NebraskaFilly

And I agree about national standards – here is the way I would like to see it: the States KEEP the money they send to the DoED for local distribution and that agency is whittled down to 50 reps – one IN each State – NOT located in DC but physically in each State itself. This is not a deeply researched, well-thought plan, keep in mind – just a SWAG of mine.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

What does the Department of Labor actually do that’s useful, much less constitutional?
And the same goes for Department of Education.
Merge them both with the trash can.

singularZoe

Bravo, Steve. The purpose of government is to protect the innocent and punish the guilty. Period. Go back to the Constitution.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I’d summarize it as “protecting people’s rights” but today, of course, a lot of people are confused about what is a “right” (hint: if something must be taken from someone else to give it to you, it ain’t a right.)

singularZoe

I think merging those departments is a communist dream, and I am not convinced there should be national standards. I would be in favour of getting rid of both of those departments. I don’t expect most will agree. I believe people who want an education will get one, and I don’t believe in pushing young people through so-called schools to give them so-called diplomas after manipulating tests and test scores to make it look as if they earned a diploma. I do think trade schools and apprenticeships are good solutions for many.

i want to see the video very bad. like full audio and video. they have it right? there’s absolute proof? i mean linds and marco said it.
of course i jest, but i did mention a couple weeks back that they might try and use this as their deep fake opportunity, but nobody demanded any proof except the word of someone that generally has lied before, so i guess they can save their deep fake card for another battle.

it says it’s a year old already and the judge did the old retire and sneak out before the probe was finished crap so the probe got shut down…that makes me angry! these people need to face the music!

Yes, I understand that. However, I wasn’t aware of it, nor were others, I would guess. Serves to further undermine the nasty Ninth Circuit, as if anyone with an ounce of common sense needs another reason! SMH

There really ARE good people in the world! We must not forget that.
“A homeless man is being hailed for his honesty after he discovered a bag containing $17,000 outside of a Washington state food bank and gave it to the staff instead of pocketing the money.
The man, Kevin Booth, found a bag sitting outside Sumner Food Bank in Sumner, Washington. Curious about what was inside, he opened the bag and found stacks of money totaling $17,000.
“At first, I was like, what the heck is that lying on the ground?” Booth, 32, told the News Tribune Friday as he recalled the moment he found the money over the summer.”

A Day Off
So you want the day off. Let’s take a look at what you are asking for. There are 365 days per year available for work. There are 52 weeks per year, in which you already have two days off per week, leaving 261 days available for work. Since you spend 16 hours each day away from work, you have used up 170 days, laving only 91 days available. You spend 30 minutes each day on coffee break that accounts for 23 days each year, leaving only 68 days available. With a one-hour lunch period each day, you have used up another 46 days, leaving only 22 days available for work. You normally spend 2 days per year on sick leave, leaving you only 20 days available for work. We are off for 5 holidays per year, so your available working time is down to 15 days. We generously give you 14 days vacation per year, which leaves only 1 day available for work and I’ll be DAMNED if you’re going to take that day off!!!!

Pat Frederick

Pat Frederick

NebraskaFilly

Kind of long but I’ll post it.

my sister, before she passed, would always send me jokes in emails–here’s one of her favorites:
A few minutes before Sunday service, the congregation was stunned when before them, right at the front of the church Satan appeared. Everyone started screaming and running from the church–except for one old man. He sat calmly in his pew, infuriating Satan.
So Satan approached and asked, “Don’t you know who I am?”
The man replied, “yep, sure do.”
“Aren’t you afraid of me?” asked Satan.
“Nope, sure ain’t.” replied the man.
“Don’t you realize I can kill you with a word?” asked Satan.
“Don’t doubt it for a minute, ” said the old man evenly.
“Did you know I can cause you profound, horrifying, AGONY for all eternity?” persisted Satan.
“Yep” was the old man’s reply.
“And you’re still not afraid?” Satan demanded.
“Nope” said the man.
“Well why NOT?” Satan demanded.
The man calmly replied. “Been married to your sister for 48 years.”

So sorry if this has been posted alreadys. I have to leave again and want to share:
“Holy moly Senator Ted Cruz and other Republican Senators just went around Congress, and have officially introduced a bill that would fund Trump’s Border Wall with $25 billion dollars. With the US Senate still a Republican majority with Pence’s vote if we would need it, are we perhaps finally on our way to the full border wall with this bill? If this bill passes the US Senate to fund the wall with $25 Billion, we might just end up seeing a brand new barrier stretching from San Diego to the Gulf of Mexico within the year. This is a pretty epic move by Ted Cruz and three other GOP members of the US Senate, because they have bypassed Congress to fund the wall entirely…Dems about to be pissed.”

Interesting I read somewhere today that even though she was hired by Rex T’s state department, she was frozen out of everything. But Pompeo likes her and trusts her, so she has gotten a lot more to do.
I think she does a terrific job as spokeswoman. Nothing gets her riled. A lot of people are all unhappy because “she’s not qualified.” Pffft. What makes one qualified to represent us at the UN? Hopefully she is full of zeal fro pulling it down. I’d consider that a prime qualification.
