The story at Gateway Pundit has a pic, but it’s from a tweet someone sent on Jan. 29th, several days before the concert, so it couldn’t be from the concert. And the article says her presence wasn’t announced and she sat in the back. It sounds as if she was being protected, if she was really there at all. She is skipping the SOTU, and there is no verifiable news of her condition.
If she really were so strong, I would think they would want us to see that and that they would have wanted her presence at the concert in her honor to be known.

Yes the Senate is trying to flex its muscle over POTUS, particularly the Uniparty.
Honestly I believe part of the reason they were able to wrangle the Senate votes is because they knew the measure wasn’t really going anywhere.
In the event of an actual vote, it will be more difficult to whip the votes. If nothing else the Senate will not be keen to be on the record against the President, unless they can guarantee a conviction.
It’s not as if POTUS doesn’t have plenty of tools at his disposal, and plenty of things up his sleeve.

I think it was back in the 90s I read about different kinds of brain waves. The short version is that most of the executive function and critical thinking occurs with alpha waves, whereas beta waves are much more passive. What struck me is that television viewing was highly correlated with beta waves – quite literally when most people watch TV, their critical thinking centers turn off and they passively accept what they are watching.
In any case that gave me pause to rethink my TV habits, both in terms of avoiding TV as a mindless entertainment / reducing consumption, and in terms of avoiding being lulled into a mindless thought pattern. I learned to keep my critical senses on while watching *any* TV program or movie. A side effect is that most movies and TV became less enjoyable to watch, but then again I was much more clued in to the messages and worldview of the writers and producers. Subtle things in the production like when they choose to pan a camera or whose facial reactions they choose to highlight suddenly began to take on a whole new meaning. Kubrick was right, every visual serves a purpose in pushing the narrative. Once you see the strings, you can’t unsee them.

The other question that is being debated is when does life begin. It should be pretty simple. At conception. In fact, there is video of a “flash of light” when sperm enters the egg to begin a new life. It’s is actually a zinc spark, but still, the egg is activated as a new human with individual DNA when sperm enters it.
Yes!! Michaelh! That is it! Or, to put it in other words, when does human life begin? That used to be something every person in this country agreed on. That no one would even consider taking the life of a defenseless baby!! At least everyone I knew agreed on that one thing, regardless of political persuasion.
But soon, the baby was called a part of “the woman’s body,” and she had the right to do with her body what she wanted to do.

What is the deal with American men’s beards these days?
In Europe, men of a different faith wear full beards.
Please explain. Those of us who do not live in the US would sincerely like to know. We are willing to read the explanations.
LOL if you’re asking me why they’re fashionable, I have no idea! I’m not one of the “cool kids” in the know on these things.
That said, they are easier to maintain, and were the traditional way men appeared for generations in America – the bearded appearance of the old farmer is iconic, if forgotten. In that time it wasn’t so much fashionable as it was normal – strait razors were expensive luxuries, trips to the barber shop were rare, but a beard could be maintained with a good pair of scissors. The clean shaven look took off after WWI, the troops had to be clean shaven for the gas masks to be effective and Gillette was awarded the U.S. Army contract for razors because they had the only reliable and disposable steel razor at the time which I believe was still under its original patent. In the early 1920s that same clean-shaven look became fashionable, almost a playboy look – this is your Great Gatsby era – where the young clean shaven man in a fashionable tuxedo was idealized. Thirty years, a depression, and another world war later, clean shaven had become the conservative look of the 1950s as the American G.I.s returned to the States, married, bought houses and started families. The cultural rebels, the beatniks, were growing beards, then a decade later it was the hippies adopting the unsustainable credo of laziness and social rebellion. My sense is that the shaven look had a revival in the 1980s, but as far as I could tell by the 1990s most of the negative connotation of facial hair with rebellion had dissipated, and it had become a matter of personal taste, though a well-groomed beard is a far sight better than an unkempt one. In the last ten years or so we’ve had a new mythical nostalgia for the “lumberjack” so the over-sized mountain man beards have been back in. While it is kind of ridiculous, the fact that the “lumberjack” is popular I think is a bit counter-cultural/reactionary to the left’s gender narrative (feminism, omega males, metrosexuals, etc) because it glorifies a masculinity that while a little silly is still attractive: strong, hard working, big, bearded men, who are rough and undomesticated.

I suspect you are right…the American Girl franchise went “social justice warrior” and lost its base.
My girls still have their American Girl dolls and the books that went with them. There was a time when the stories were informative and fun. One of my girls, now in college, recieved a dream birthday gift from her friends. Though now way outside the target age range, her friends took her to tea at the America Girl store in their college city. The wait staff was very confused and wondered where the seven- or eight-year-old was, whose birthday they must be celebrating. They were shocked to know the birthday girl was turning 20! But for all the girls is was a sentimental walk down the memory lane of their childhoods.
Fortunately there are a lot of good alternatives to American Girl dolls now. Obviously I’m not the expert on these toys but I have seen some incredibly detailed posts where all the various companies and lines are compared for price, quality, etc. To me it was information overload but it gave pointers to other companies putting out good products at more reasonable prices and without all the SJW overhead.
THIS is interesting. Those dolls are actually collectibles. Was never into them myself, but the trend may be just what the company reports: money is being spent on other things.
I used to give my granddaughter American girls and what ever went with it. She loved being dressed like her doll. When she was 12 is when she lost interest. They are now nice packed away for the next generation.
Yes they are expensive but they served the purpose.

I just finished reading Bill O’Reilly’s “Killing the SS” – only book of his I’ve read, and it was a quality read. The book focused on 4 of the main Nazi killers that decades were spent hunting for them. The Nazis committed many atrocities regarding babies.
