IMO Kelly was most likely playing politics.
He sounded too “glum” about things (out of contention) with that first post, and upon speculation that it sounded like he was out of consideration for VP, he deleted and changed it to sound like he was still under consideration. But why?
NOW – here is my PRIME THEORY.
I think the leak of the Josh Shapiro pick was intentional by Kamp Kamala/Obama – on one level (“ostensibly”) to see if Shapiro has too much baggage, or is too toxic, both of which are great excuses to “shake the pesky Jew off the ticket”. So part of that is Obama trying to “shake” Shapiro out of consideration. Why? Shapiro was an early endorser of Obama, but IMO did that STRATEGICALLY for Israel (because he’s “Israel First”), knowing that Hussein is actually anti-Israel and pro-Iran. I think Shapiro is a smooth operator in cuddling up to Hussein. “Keep your enemies closer.” Snake vs. snake.
I think the ambitious Kelly is watching that sideshow like a hawk. I think he played into that in a way to show his availability, BUT he wanted it to look natural, so he “took himself out of consideration”, then waited for the inevitable calling out, so that he could “put himself back into consideration” and it would not look too needy.
A bunch of political psychology and machinations – all pretending not to be there at all.
PS – I love that Indian woman (Navajo?) giving Kelly the super-subtle side-eye! It reminds me of this meme (one example)…..

SALLY Q UPDATE – Debby is now a Hurricane with max winds of 80 mph, barely making it a hurricane – Category 1. It will make landfall about where Hurricane Idalia did last Fall and follow almost the same path as Idalia. It will pass right over the Village some time between 2-3 pm today.
We may not have internet then and right now it can be real slow. The Village does have power right now, but had a short short power outage last night. Sally has some limited emergency power to keep her lift running, and it will run the router and microwave, lights, but no AC, stove or refrigerator. Power may go out for the whole area if trees, limbs and power lines are damaged when the storm advances.
I’ll be here with Sally for the duration. She slept through the big hurricane last Fall!

Good morning again! – I managed to make hot coffee – by moving the pot to her dining where her outlets are working.
It’s really blowing and the rain is pouring down. I did a walk around – the exit doors are blowing open. There are leaks here and there. The emergency drains are backing up due to rain filling them. One new resident said her windows were leaking.
There are some refugees from the outlying neighborhoods with blankets looking sleepy. In one of the meeting rooms a very thin white-haired elderly lady is stretched out on two dining chairs.
The day is young – the storm came in at the local destination for seafood restaurants – a fishing village called Steinhatchee. It will be over us between 1-3pm today. I can’t imagine it being worse than now, but by then it will probably be a tropical storm.

Good morning, Miss Pat! Debby is now a Hurricane with max winds of 80 mph, barely making it a hurricane – Category 1. It will make landfall about where Hurricane Idalia did last Fall and follow almost the same path as Idalia. It will pass right over the Village some time between 2-3 pm today.
We may not have internet then and right now it can be real slow. The Village does have power right now, but had a short short power outage last night. Sally has some limited emergency power to keep her lift running, and it will run the router and microwave, lights, but no AC, stove or refrigerator. Power may go out for the whole area if trees, limbs and power lines are damaged when the storm advances.
I’m here with Sally for the duration. I’ve been through several Hurricanes, Tropical Storms and power outages over the 20 years. So far, my house in the city hasn’t been damaged, but trees fell on several houses at the Village last Fall. The longest power outage was 4 days at my house when Hurricane Irma passed through. However, we had a spring storm this year that, though it wasn’t a tornado, knocked down 500 power poles and many trees were damaged.

Thank you so much for the updates from GA/FL. Wow, doors blowing open and leaks already, and the storm hasn’t arrived at the Village yet. Hopefully, Debbie will be Tropical Storm by the time it hits the Village. But even then, it’s likely going to be tons of rain and wind. Sending Good Energy, thoughts and meditations for safety.
Central North Carolina is due to get the “remnants” of Debby on Thursday through Friday, with some of the “advance rainfall” coming in late Wednesday. There already are warnings about heavy rain and accumulation.
There are no actual “assault weapons” in civilian hands, without extreme licensing from FBI. All our civilian semi-automatic weapons are NOT actually “assault weapons”.
There are, however, ANTI-MOB WEAPONS, like the AR-15, which are available for civilian use.
Obviously, the mobby Democrats absolutely HATE anti-mob weapons.

If I understand correctly, pre-ban (1986) full auto AR15s are still perfectly legal, the problem is that they cost crazy amounts now (I think I remember seeing one for $25k), so it’s a collectible safe-queen for anyone who has one.
Here’s a full auto M16A1 for $42k… it has been a couple years since I checked prices, but that’s quite a jump. Inflation is no joke.

companies usually have employees stagger their vacations so they don’t have a complete shut down. Congress should do the same. if they were doing their jobs all year round, they wouldn’t need to spend so much time campaigning for more gov’t grift. they’d have their records to run on.
The begging for more money texts and emails never slow down or stop. They are constant all year. Only the name of the sender changes.
OTOH going home to listen to their constituents is part of the job.
Whether that’s what they’re doing right now is another question entirely.

Bitcoin is down quite a bit, too. I will be watching this as it looks like the threatened financial implosion might well be underway.
It appears that what has roiled all of the markets is what is called the ‘Japan carry trade’.
If I understand correctly, institutions have been borrowing enormous amounts of Japanese yen at very low interest rates, and using it to buy assets (primarily in the U.S. markets), which have been outperforming most world markets while also being the ‘safest’ world market.
So for example, if you borrow from Japan at 1% and invest in the U.S. and make a 5% (or more) return, you make the difference (4%) for nothing, using other people’s money.
If you borrow $10 billion worth of yen, and make 4%, that starts to add up to real profits.
And once one institution does it, all the others are monkey see, monkey do, and it grows and grows and grows.
And it worked fine, until suddenly Japan raised interest rates.
If the ‘Japan carry trade’ game is no longer profitable, or if the institutions believe it’s about to turn unprofitable, they need to get out of it.
To do that, they need to sell whatever U.S. and other assets they bought with the money they borrowed from Japan, in order to repay the hundreds of billions (or trillions) that have been borrowed.
When lots of institutions start selling all at once, markets go boom.
And the whole world suffers, because there is no one to prevent this kind of reckless market manipulation, and even if there was someone to prevent it, they would be corrupted instantly (blackmailed, bribed or both) or be replaced with someone who was.
Because that’s the world we live in.

The volatility of crypto can really make the stock markets seem silly.
If I remember correctly, the March 2020 low for Bitcoin was around $3.5k, the 2021 high for Bitcoin was $69k, and the 2022 low was around $15k. That’s a 78% drop.
2023 was mostly sideways until the end of the year (ETF news) when it hit $42k.
2024 (so far) has had a new all time high of $73.8k, and currently Bitcoin is at $53.8k.
Bitcoin can move 12% (up or down) on any given day.
And there are no ‘circuit breakers’, no training wheels, no do-overs, no bail-outs for banks, etc.
It may be the only actual ‘free market’ left in the world, because there is no one (and no one can be) in charge. If there was someone in charge, if it was possible for someone to be in charge, that person or group would be corrupt, because like every other position of power that controls access to wealth, they wouldn’t be allowed to be in charge otherwise.
That very volatility is why you can’t expect to use it for money on a regular basis.
