Wait Patiently On The Lord

Recently, we read about resting in the Lord, where that rest referred to a spiritual rest from confusion, worry, stress, useless human effort, and a break from all internal, external, mortal, and spiritual enemies. The Hebrew word translated as “rest” means “to be at peace,” “to be still,” “to be quiet or calm.”

In place of “rest in the Lord,” some Bible translations say, “Be still before the Lord” (ESV and NIV), “Be silent before the Lord”(CSB), “Surrender yourself to the Lord” (GW), and “Be still in the presence of the Lord” (NLT). These versions convey the essential idea that to rest and be at peace, one must dwell in the presence of the Lord, surrendered to His lordship.

A main verse referenced for resting in the Lord was Psalm 37:7 “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him” which introduces waiting patiently for the Lord as a companion to resting in the Lord.

In the Psalms, Proverbs, and many other books of the Bible, we find commands to wait on the Lord” like this one: “Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: Wait, I say, on the LORD” (Psalm 27:14, KJV). Most modern translations use “wait for the Lord.” To English readers, the idea of waiting on the Lord might seem like a passive exercise, but a closer study reveals that it’s nothing of the sort.

Patient, confident trust in the Lord is the central idea of the exhortation to wait on the Lord. The entire Psalm 27 is a prayer to God for help. It beautifully illustrates the meaning of waiting on the Lord. Throughout the psalm’s eloquent lines, David expresses authentic faith and courageous trust in God, based on his confident expectation that the Lord will rescue and save him in his time of trouble.

First, we see that we can wait on the Lord by trusting in Him. David expressed great confidence in the Lord, who was his light, salvation, and stronghold (Psalm 27:1–2). This kind of dynamic trust dispels fear and despair: “When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident” (verses 2–3).

We can wait on the Lord by seeking Him. David conveyed his trust in the Lord by longing to be with Him, to commune in God’s presence and worship in His temple: “One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple” (Psalm 27:4). In God’s dwelling place, praising and worshiping the Lord, David felt safe and secure: “For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD” (verses 5–6).

We can wait on the Lord through prayer, as David did in eager expectation of deliverance (Psalm 27:7–14). David asked God for wisdom, direction (verse 11), and protection (verse 12), wholly believing he would “see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living” (verse 13). Those who wait on the Lord can fully expect Him to fulfill their hope: “Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame” (Psalm 25:3, ESV).

Waiting on the Lord involves the confident expectation of a positive result in which we place a great hope. This expectation is based on knowledge of and trust in God. Those who do not know the Lord will not wait on Him; neither will those who fail to trust Him. We must be confident of who God is and what He is capable of doing. Those who wait on the Lord do not lose heart in their prayers: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” (1 John 5:14). Waiting on the Lord renews our strength (Isaiah 40:31). Waiting on the Lord by trusting, seeking, and praying establishes our faith and brings serenity and stability: “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him” (Psalm 40:1–3). As this passage affirms, waiting on the Lord is also a testimony to others who will see our faith and, as a result, put their trust in God.

Waiting on the Lord brings God’s blessings: “Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him” (Isaiah 64:4; see also 1 Corinthians 1:7).

Sometimes we might feel as though the Lord does not see or hear us—that He’s not answering our prayers. During these moments, we can put our complete faith and trust in the living God. We can wait on the Lord in eager anticipation, knowing that He is with us and in control of our lives. He will do what He has promised. He will rescue and save us. He is always working for our good, even when we don’t feel Him (Romans 8:28). Through patient, courageous, active trusting, seeking, and prayer, we can learn to wait on the Lord.

Why is waiting on God so difficult?

Waiting on God is not only difficult; sometimes it seems impossible. We want things to happen in our own timing, according to our plans. But God doesn’t operate on our schedules, and expecting that He will sets one up for disappointment.

Waiting on God means going without answers to prayer, wondering why the wicked seem to prosper, and having desires delayed and hope deferred. God has a greater perspective of life’s events, and His perspective, plans, and schedules are perfect and holy, because He is perfect and holy. The psalmist tells us, “As for God, His way is perfect” (Psalm 18:30). If God’s ways are “perfect,” then we can trust that whatever He does—and whatever His timing—is also perfect. When we grasp that fact, waiting on God is not only made less difficult, it actually becomes joyful.

The promises of God are clear on this matter—in waiting on God, we find our strength renewed (Isaiah 40:31). But we are human, and we live in a fast-paced culture that demands everything now. That’s one reason why waiting on God is difficult. Sometimes, the prayers we lift up to the Lord of Hosts are answered immediately, and that encourages us to further trust and confidence. However, sometimes the Lord’s answers are delayed. Over a period of time, the Lord tests our faith, and that’s when we can really struggle. We may even start to wonder whether the Lord is really listening to our prayers.

Waiting on God should not cause the believer to doubt or to worry. The apostle Paul exhorts us to not be anxious about anything (Philippians 4:6). The King James Version translates this as the command to be “careful for nothing.” This means we are not to be full of care over anything; we should be mindful of nothing that might cause concern, except to bring it to God in prayer. Anxiety in the believer suggests a lack of faith, and that grieves the Lord (see Matthew 8:26).

Waiting on God can keep us out of trouble. Abraham had God’s promise of a son through whom the covenant would be fulfilled (Genesis 15:4). Abraham and Sarah tried and waited, but they could have no child. Rather than waiting on God and His timing, they unwisely took matters into their own hands, and Ishmael was the result (Genesis 16).

One divine attribute that will enable us to patiently wait on God is His sovereignty. We can have complete confidence in His total, independent control over every creature, event, and circumstance at every moment in history. Subject to none, influenced by none, and absolutely independent, God does what He pleases, only as He pleases, and always as He pleases. Nothing can stay His hand: “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please” (Isaiah 46:10). Once we better understand God’s sovereignty, coupled with His goodness, waiting for God to act becomes a matter of a child trusting in his father’s faithfulness, sure of his father’s strength.

Waiting on God is never easy, but we wait in the knowledge that God knows our situation, He cares for our needs, and He is good to the end. “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life” (Proverbs 13:12).

DEAR MAGA: Open Thread 20210902

Given the situation at the usual site, TQT, this is our temporary headquarters. Some of our usual participants have not visited here to comment in the past, so their first comment will go into moderation when they stop by. Wolf will get everyone set up and approved as we progress through life here.

In the meantime, as we are in a holding pattern waiting for something, anything to happen, let me get this out of the way as it touched something in me.

Be still my heart. Just like my mother used to do. Correct syntax matters.

Alright, I know I said yesterday that I would deal with fear of losing a job meaning fear of losing oneself today, but Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano has written another extraordinary letter about the COVID situation all the way around that is worth giving a day in court. Here’s a sample:

The criminal mens

Once it is understood that the present events have been intended in order to obtain certain results – and consequently to pursue certain interests on behalf of a minority part of humanity, with incalculable harm for the majority – we must also have the honesty to recognize the criminal mens [mind] of the authors of this plan. This criminal design also makes us understand the fraud perpetrated by civil authority in presenting certain measures as an unavoidable response to unpredictable events, when the events have been artfully created and magnified with the sole purpose of legitimizing a revolution – which Schwab identifies as the fourth industrial revolution – intended by the elite to the detriment of all humanity. The enslavement of authority is on the other hand the result of a process that began even earlier, with the French Revolution, and which made the political class the servant not of God (whose Lordship it disdainfully disregards) nor of the sovereign people (which it despises and uses only to legitimize itself), but of the economic and financial potentates, of the international oligarchy of bankers and usurers, of multinationals and pharmaceutical companies. In reality, on closer inspection, all these subjects belong to a small number of well-known very rich families.

Equal enslavement is also evident in the media: journalists have accepted – without any scruple of conscience – prostituting themselves to the powerful, going so far as to censor the truth and spread shameless lies without even trying to give them the appearance of credibility. Up until last year journalists counted the numbers of the “victims” of Covid by presenting anyone who tested positive as terminally ill; today those who die after being vaccinated are always and only taken by a vague “illness,” and even before the post mortem examinations they officially decide that there is no correlation between a person’s death and the administration of the gene serum. They twist the truth with impunity when it does not confirm their narrative, bending it to fit their purposes.

What has been happening for a year and a half had been widely announced, down to the smallest detail, by the creators of the Great Reset themselves; just as we were told the measures that would be adopted. On February 17, 1950, testifying before the United States Senate, the well-known banker James Warburg said, “We will have a world government, whether you like it or not. The only question that arises is whether this world government will be established by consensus or by force.” Four years later, the Bilderberg Group was born, which has counted among its members characters such as [Italian businessman Gianni] Agnelli, Henry Kissinger, Mario Monti, and the current Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. In 1991, David Rockefeller wrote: “The world is ready for a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is certainly preferable to the national self-determination practiced in past centuries.” And he added: “We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the ‘right’ global crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order.” Today we can affirm that this “right crisis” coincides with the pandemic emergency and with the “lockstep” outlined since 2010 by the Rockefeller Foundation document “Scenarios for the Future of Technology and International Development,” in which the events we are now witnessing are all anticipated (here).

In short, they have created a false problem in order to be able to impose population control measures as an apparent solution, cancel small and medium-sized businesses with lockdowns and the green pass to the benefit of a few international groups, demolish education by imposing distance learning, lower the cost of manpower and employees with “smart working,” privatize public health for the benefit of Big Pharma, and allow governments to use the state of emergency to legislate in derogation of the law and impose so-called vaccines on the entire population, making citizens traceable in all their movements and either chronically ill or sterile.

Everything the elite wanted to do, they have done. And what is incomprehensible is that in the face of the evidence of the premeditation of this terrible crime against humanity, which sees the leaders of almost the whole world as accomplices and traitors, there is not a single magistrate who opens a file against them to ascertain the truth and condemn the guilty and complicit. Those who disagree are not only censored but pointed out as public enemies, as infectors, as non-persons for whom no rights are recognized.

Whatever one does in life, getting on Vigano’s bad side would not be advisable.

Okay, let’s see what I’ve got.

This is why we are here.

And now for the business portion. While we are at the U Tree, there are a few changes:

Why Is God Waiting?

As we look around the world, and within our own country, we see almost daily deeper levels of evil being exposed. Many are shocked at what is now seen, but they shouldn’t be for “More than anything else, a person’s mind is evil and cannot be healed. Who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)

And so it comes to mind, and is true also in the struggle we are involved with now, “Why does God let this happen? Why hasn’t He stepped in, bringing the full recompense for which these evil ones are due?”

In Genesis 15, God confirms His unconditional covenant with Abram. God promises Abram a multitude of descendants who will inherit the land in which Abram sojourns. God then gives Abram a brief timeline of future events: “Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there” (Genesis 15:13). And then, “In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure” (verse 16).

The prophecies of Genesis 15 deal with these basic events: Abram would have many descendants. Those descendants would one day be taken captive and treated harshly. After four hundred years, Abram’s descendants would return to Canaan. Their return would coincide with God’s judgment on the Amorites in Canaan. These prophecies were fulfilled when, after Joseph’s death, Pharaoh enslaved the Israelites (who were living in Egypt at the time), and then, four hundred years after Joseph, Moses brought the children of Israel out of Egypt to the borders of Canaan; Joshua then led the people into Canaan and conquered the land. Joshua’s conquest took place only after the sin of the Canaanites had “reached its full measure” (Genesis 15:16).

One thing Genesis 15:16 shows is the certainty of God’s judgment on the wicked. The Amorites and other Canaanites were exceedingly wicked (for a list of some of their sins, see Leviticus 18). During the time of Moses, God gave the reason for the Canaanites’ downfall: “The land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants” (Leviticus 18:25). God had predicted this all the way back in Abraham’s time. The Amorites were wicked, and Judgment Day was coming.

At the same time, Genesis 15:16 demonstrates God’s love, mercy, and above all His longsuffering and patience with sinful man. Rather than immediately wipe out the Amorites, God chose to wait for over four hundred years to bring judgment upon them. The enemies of God would be displaced as God settled His chosen people in the land He had promised them. Yet God’s enemies did not need to remain enemies. They were given ample time to turn from their wickedness, turn to God, and be forgiven. The Amorites had a chance to repent and be saved, just as the Assyrians in Nineveh did during in the time of Jonah.

The Amorites’ sin had not escaped God’s notice. He was keeping track of the measure of their sins, and, during Abraham’s time, it was not yet “full.” So the Amorites were warned that judgment was coming. It is sad that they did not take advantage of their time of grace. They wasted their four hundred years and continued to fill up the measure of their sin. Like most other pagan nations that Israel later encountered, the Amorites stubbornly continued in their sin until judgment finally befell them in God’s own time.

Because the Amorites finally filled up the measure of their sin, God brought Joshua and the children of Israel against them. God’s command was for the Israelites to “completely destroy them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you” (Deuteronomy 20:17). The Amorites fought back, but God destroyed them before Israel and gave them the Amorites’ land (Joshua 24:8). The conquest of Canaan served the dual purpose of punishing the Amorites for their sin and giving the Israelites a land of their own.

A similar fate as befell the unrepentant Amorites awaits those who rebel against God today and reject His Son, Jesus Christ. All of us are sinners (Romans 3:23), and we have been warned that judgment is coming. Judgment Day is promised, but until that time we have the chance to repent and be saved. God in His love, mercy, and patience waits, withholding judgment to give us all a chance to believe and be reconciled to Him. “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

We dare not make the same mistake as the Amorites and spurn God’s grace. Jesus said, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’ But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’ Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’ But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’” (Luke 13:24–27).

As was the case in Abraham’s day we know that God’s judgment is coming. Unlike Abraham, we don’t have a timeline to give us an idea of when that day will be. All we know is that God’s judgment has not yet fallen, which means that God is patient and the sins of modern nations have not yet reached the full measure.

Make good use of this time of favor and blessing. Repent, trust in Christ, and be saved. “For he says, ‘In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.’ I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

Dear KAG: 20201204 Open Thread

The Wolf’s Head Pub is open for business. It’s Friday and I don’t know about anyone else but I am ready for some camaraderie and shoulders to lean on. Thank our good God that the pub is full of fellow patriots who pick each other up off the floor, whether we’ve had too much of this dire situation afflicting our republic or too much madeira.

Madeira you say? I always wondered about this interesting drink. Turns out madeira is of Portuguese origin. Wine is subject to spoilage from heat, light and air (ask anyone who has tried to drink a week old bottle of opened wine).

Some time in the 1400s, the Portuguese discovered that fortifying fermenting wine with distilled spirits results in a wine that is safe from spoilage and extremely long-lasting. From Wikipedia:

“When added to wine before the fermentation process is complete, the alcohol in the distilled beverage kills the yeast and leaves residual sugar behind. The end result is a wine that is both sweeter and stronger, normally containing about 20% alcohol by volume (ABV)”

Madeira can be dry or sweet depending upon the distilled spirit used and the time of fermentation. Other fortified wines include marsala, sherry, port and vermouth. Incidentally, for those who make homemade bone broth, use a dry vermouth instead of wine or vinegar to help dissolve the calcium in the bones. The resulting taste is vastly superior.

How did our evil leaders know that pubs and taverns are ground zero for popular uprisings? Well, that was the case during our first Revolution…

Before we get too deep into our conversations, just a reminder that civility is what keeps the Qtree a place of sanctuary and intellectual inspiration. Cutting completely loose belongs over at the UTree, not here at the QTree. Civility reigns in this august public house. Rules here if you need a refresher or are new. Thank you in advance for giving our burly bouncers nothing to do.

Now, shall we fortify ourselves with a glass of madeira and get down to funny business?

The truth is out there.

Mayor Rudy Giuliani, attorney Jenna Ellis (was she was completely disrespected at the Michigan hearing Wednesday night, or what?), Lin Wood (viciously attacked by Breitbart shills for Cocaine Mitch) and Sidney Powell (holding up well under the immense pressure of The System bearing down) are the champions of this hour.

I was up until almost 3 a.m. the other night catching up on all the news happening. Find a listing at the end of this post of those videos and links that may have been missed, what with all the stuff happening.

Things are narrowing to a point now.

It is clear that the corrupt Republicans are being exposed. This has to happen. The trick, I think, is to expose the width and depth of their corruption without hurting our President as he fights to retain the White House and the Senate.

Georgia is RINO Ground Zero. The Breitbart attack on Lin Wood is showing the cracks in the UniParty Republican cadre. War Room Pandemic, episode 557, has a great discussion about the Georgia Republican Situation:

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxxBwVBKvgQ&w=560&h=315]

The feckless Republican senators who have betrayed the American worker highlights the quintessential tension between Wall Street and Main Street. It is things like this that causes patriot blood to boil:

Big Tech Giveaway. FTA:

“The Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act has been called the greatest corporate welfare program for Big Tech in recent memory. Lee has persistently sought to pass the corporate giveaway, with previous attempts to eliminate per-country-caps being blocked by Democrat Dick Durbin and Republican Rick Scott. Neither Senator objected to the unanimous passage of the modified S386 legislation on Wednesday afternoon.

Big Tech monopolies such as Apple, Google and Microsoft have fervently lobbied in favor of eliminating per-country caps, seeking to replace their American workforces with de facto indentured workers who accept lower wages and worse working conditions. The pervasive use of the H-1B visa in the American technology industry has displaced countless American workers from their careers.”

And then there was this, a Republican Deep Six Gang meeting Thursday regarding immigration with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and George Soros toadies. FTA:

Republican Senators Marco Rubio, John Cornyn, Susan Collins, and Thom Tillis will attend a Thursday “summit” meeting hosted by the “American Business Immigration Coalition,” a pro-amnesty group consisting of big business donors, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as well as the George Soros-funded United We Dream organization.”

Cozying up with Democrat amnesty advocates, these bought-off Republicans care nothing for the American worker, our sovereignty, and the safety of citizens. They are selling us out! They are like vultures, waiting for the death of the Trump presidency when they can fully undo all that President Trump has done on behalf of the Forgotten Men and Women of this great nation. It’s positively Potteresque:

The lovely and brilliant Candace Owens puts the Georgia situation in perspective:

But evil, greedy politicians have underestimated us and President Trump. Our President will not allow China, Soros, and sold-out, seditious politicians to destroy our republic. As Gen. Flynn (#FightLikeFlynn) says, “The president has clear paths to victory.” Paths. Not path. Oh yes, indeed. Keeping the faith here with you all and millions of Americans. We will prevail.

And did I tell you that we’ve got a new dartboard at the back of the pub? Unlimited darts! Enjoy!

Dodging Digital Serfdom Tuesday

First let’s start with the kind of powerful words that motivated America’s founding fathers to create the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore,
and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

We know it’s going to require a decision on our part to “stand firm” and “not submit again” before we are going to take this seriously. But we have the help of God and the support of our President with his team.
So let’s be happy even as we fight for our right to a place at the table.

What? We are Digital Serfs? How?

In his latest newsletter, our fellow freedom fighter, Martin Geddes, announces:

I have created a new portal for myself and my patriot, scientist, and artist activities. This removes my dependence upon fickle social media services.

His newsletter goes on to explain. If you have the time, I recommend reading it even if you don’t get every nuance. (Newsletter text emphasis added by me.) If we are to neutralize this threat, we must understand what it is and why it matters. I highly recommend subscribing to his newsletter.

New Martin Geddes personal portal

(and why we have to take responsibility for our own virtual identity)

From around 2013 to 2015 a lot of my professional energy was dedicated to the Hypervoice Consortium, looking at the future of “smart voice” communications, and the ethical use of such personal data. The notable thing about voice is that it is intimate biosensed data: it isn’t just what we say that is private, but also:

  • our voice “security print”,
  • our current mood,
  • our background location noise privacy leakage, and
  • even things like our state of mental health (that can be inferred via machine learning).

A core conclusion was the need for self-sovereign identity systems, since our virtual self cannot be separated from our physical being. You can change a password, but you cannot change your voice, face, or fingerprint. The result of this research endeavour was a vision for the Guardian Avatar. (VideoPresentationReport.)
Back in February of 2017, I had a series of interactions with LinkedIn — where my “professional avatar” lived — that told me they were not a company whose values I shared or wished to be associated with. Having “talked the talk” on privacy and ethics, I felt obligated to “walk the walk”.
So I torched my account, together with 4000+ connections, and all the content I had created there. It has probably cost me some business, and I don’t regret acting on my conscience.
However, not being keen on professional suicide, I first grabbed my career history, endorsements, and other data and created my own site for my “personal identity” (martingedd.es) as distinct from my corporate consulting one (martingeddes.com). For the last few years this has stood in place of a LinkedIn profile as my “professional avatar”. When people send me their LinkedIn profile to read, I inform them it is sadly inaccessible to me as a non-member.
In the interim years, I have become more acutely aware of how over-dependency on these social media behemoths is a risky and unwise proposition. I have been deplatformed by Medium for writing on endemic corruption, with no reaction from my hypocritical liberal-minded friends about this free speech crime.
Right now Twitter is stopping me from gaining followers, nailing my count at just under 79,000 with it hardly varying no matter how much engagement I get. (My impressions are around 13-15 million a month.) This is completely contrary to my experience over 10+ years on the platform. Many tell me they are being unfollowed without permission, or don’t see my tweets in their timeline. I am also being “reply banned” as part of their ongoing censorship regime:

f2c4c090-59db-42df-88d4-701a363980de

My domain names are mostly hosted with a provider that has already deplatformed a perfectly legal free speech site. How far would they go in getting rid of customers whose content they disapprove of? Am I at risk? Hard to know until the “unthinkable” has happened.
My corporate website uses WordPress technology, and they have censored Westerners for breaking Pakistani Sharia Law. I could be kicked off this Mailchimp platform without redress for “hateful content” (whatever that is), and equally dumped by Squarespace for similar thougtcrime against political correctness.
Incidentally, Squarespace’s terms break the “do (not do) unto others” ethics golden rule, and would have been a good use case for a Guardian Avatar “lawyerbot” to catch:

1ea4e4bf-7fb4-4c00-ac45-7190a60091f4

We are presently digital serfs tending our subsistence plots on the virtual lord of the manor’s properties. But that doesn’t mean we have to consent to our condition. Withdrawing consent from being abused requires us to take responsibility for our own virtual identity. We can construct our own portals and avatars that are not vulnerable to the whims and policies of tyrants, censors, or free speech hypocrites.
And with that, to my main purpose in sending this newsletter to you. I have refreshed my “personal portal” to encompass more of my activities — as a “patriot” (i.e. honest citizen journalist), a computer scientist, and as an artist too (a huge surprise to the Martin of yore!). This is the presentation layer of my “Guardian Avatar”, and it protects my outward identity.
Enjoy — and maybe take inspiration on how you too can take back control over your online identity, even if it costs you some time, money, and convenience to do so. Because “free” and “easy” can be exceedingly costly to your liberty.

It’s a [BONUS] Red October Sunday

If it’s not a great day for foreign diplomacy AND a great day for exposing corruption AND a great day for a precision strike on the bad guys by our military, we may just have to run around the building a couple times just to burn off all the excess energy we are getting from the winnamins we’ve been taking!
Yes, there is much to take very seriously, but there is also much to fill our hearts with hope in this very special [BONUS] Red October.
May we be stirred to courage and prayer in these days of great activity in every arena and in every dimension.
Blessings, Think*3

Our Q Tree is Appreciated by MAGA Mom
(and us too!)

When I come here I feel relaxed. Seriously. More than any other site. I don’t even agree with some on some things and with many on other things. (NO – not interested in who/what! That is Not the point!) And yet I still feel relaxed and among friends. Even at OT I don’t feel this way even when “talking” to long time posters/commenters.
When I sit down at the computer I often start here for a quick scan and then am busy elsewhere – esp. social media these days.
But at the end of the day when I am finished with all of that and just want to relax, here is where I come to put my feet up, breath a sigh of relief and relax. Seems like a family with the annoying younger brother, the wise grandfather figures, the loving grandmother figures, the interesting and fascinating uncles and aunts, the incredibly smart cousin, the funny old uncle, some eccentrics…and, no, none of these have to do with age (I imagine the annoying younger brother is much too old to act the way he does! ha) just characters and how I feel when I read here.

A wonderful place to read – most fascinating book Ever! And yet, I am an occasional player in the very book I am reading. Real, and not real. Amusing and yet so educational. Philosophical, fascinating stories and yet up to the minute reporting in which we learn both the details and the rest of the story!
Anyway, love it here even if we don’t get to “real”/personal as this isn’t actually a small place and of course I remain aware that this is a very open, public space.
Still love it and appreciate you all, each one of you, for what you bring to the table.
Thank you to all who create the space – esp. wolf, + all of the wonderful contributors.

Thank you MAGA Mom, and … Amen!

A Prayer for Our Nation is Offered by MichaelH

Realgaryseven I’ll just tack on here.

Celebration and yet still our enemies laying sucker-punches on us. I’ve been praying b/c I’m burdened in spirit, elated at God’s faithfulness to us and Wolf, but I’m also completely pissed off with my/our enemies who continue to cheat and steal and destroy every cheap shot they can.

Now I’ve been wanting to post a prayer publicly here but I’ve been at a total loss to express here to share what’s on my heart and share a prayer that captures it well. I’ve finally got something, hopefully this is over the target…

Dear Lord, please hear our cries when we call out to you!
Remember us in our distress Refresh our spirits in your boundless love.

Strengthen our souls, give us renewed vigor that overtakes our fatigue

Renew our steadfast resolve for your righteousness oh Lord!

Provide us with your divine wisdom and discernment that we may know your will
Move us Lord to the rightful place in your plan
Fulfill your great divine strategies through us Lord

Let us not falter or fear but take courage and boldly advance in your work
Frustrate the plans of our enemies; let their schemes fall back on them!
Let the strength of our enemies fail them, and let their horses fall from exhaustion

Expose their wickedness Lord, humiliate those who mock your Law
Bring justice upon them swiftly as a an eagle snatches its prey!
Remember your people in the day of judgement!

Raise up the righteous and faithful ones, exalt them
Place them in the seats of kings and judges to rule in righteousness, wisdom, and glory
Cast out all fear from those you have called
Fill them with your spirit, the strength of will, and the character of righteousness

Aim your people on the strategic targets, make every one count
Pull them back like arrows in a bow, release them swiftly to strike!
Bring victory over our enemies and restore victory to your people

Make the nations exclaim, who can stand against the Lord and His people?
For their God fights with them and none can stand in battle against them!

The nations will surrender their arms, their armies will not advance in battle for the fear of God!

Let the nations praise you and know that you are God.

Amen!

2nd American Revolutionary|Civil War

Can there be a holiness movement without holiness being the focus? There can and must be. Holiness is the most basic characteristic of The Holy Spirit as that is His name. Yet, He does not come to speak of Himself, but to lead us to Jesus—the Truth. In this same way, the most powerful holiness movement of all time will not have holiness as its focus, but rather “The Holy One of God,” Jesus. Anything that eclipses Jesus as our main love and devotion can be an idol, even the things of God such as holiness.

True holiness is the fruit of our love for God, not the focus of it.

Can we find a single reference in Scripture to the scene around the throne of God where those present are not saying “holy is The Lord?” They could have been saying “loving is The Lord,” or “The Lord is full of grace, mercy…,” but they’re saying “holy.” So it seems that in His presence, this is perhaps the most profound characteristic of God that we see. Yet, this has had little emphasis in the church for decades. Why? Could it be because we have gotten so far from His throne? Have we been caught up in so much religious activity that we have not been getting closer to God or walking in true authority, which is represented by His throne?

We can expect this to change soon. The last move of God will be the greatest of all because it will be God moving. His people will fall in love with Him because they’re going to seek Him, and He promise that if we seek Him we will find Him. When we find Him we too will be in awe of His holiness.

So what will that look like? Rather than speculating we should go and see. The great truths of our faith have often been reduced by men trying to define them, especially before they have experienced them. For this reason, most of the definitions about holiness have been about cleaning up the outside, our behavior, rather than changing our heart, which results in change from the inside out. We can comply with a definition of proper behavior with our hearts and still be full of sin and wickedness, or legalism.

So let us resolve to be changed by seeing His glory with unveiled faces. The veils are often our own ideals, or even preferences. When we see Him without removing the veils, we usually try to make Him in our image rather than being changed into His.

If we are disciples, we have certainly poured over the Scriptures enough to understand sin and the works of the flesh, the carnal nature. As John explained in his epistles, if we have been born again from above, these should no longer be our basic nature. The struggle to get free of them is great and it is not meant to be easy. As we mature in the nature of Christ, which Paul referred to as the forming of Christ within us, these works of the flesh are no longer our nature. We grow in the Spirit of Christ, which is The Holy Spirit, and manifest the fruit of The Spirit.

We read of the carnal nature in Galatians 5:19-21:

“Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are:

immorality, impurity, sensuality,
idolatry, sorcery,

enmities, strife,
jealousy, outbursts of anger,

disputes, dissensions, factions,
envying, drunkenness, carousing,
and things like these,

of which I forewarn you,
just as I have forewarned you,

that those who practice such things
will not inherit
the kingdom of God.”

As we see declared here and in other places, we cannot continue to practice these things and inherit the kingdom of God. This does not mean that sincere, maturing Christians who are true disciples cannot occasionally fall to fleshly behavior. We are told that even “the righteous fall seven times” (see Proverbs 24:16). Yet as that verse continues, “but they rise yet again.” They do not stay down but rather get back up and fight on.

The war against the carnal nature is a mighty struggle. In Romans 1-2 we are told to be “transformed by the renewing of our minds.” The Greek word translated “transformed” in this text is the same word from which we get the English word “metamorphous,” the change a caterpillar goes through in the cocoon to become a butterfly. It is said that the greatest struggle a butterfly will ever experience is getting out of the cocoon, but it is that struggle that strengthens it so that it can flap those big wings and fly. We too will likely face our biggest struggle getting free of the carnal nature, but it is that struggle that strengthens us to spiritually soar as we are called to do.

False teachers since the first century have twisted and distorted the teachings of grace to assert that we do not need to struggle against the old nature like this, and what we do in the body doesn’t really matter. These are wolves in sheep’s clothing. As the Apostle Paul wrote of them, “their condemnation is just” (Romans 3:8). The word of God is clear that if we practice the works of the flesh and live in the carnal nature, we will not inherit the kingdom.

We are told in Hebrews12:14 to “Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord.”

Sanctification is another word for holiness, and we will not see Him without it. It is that important. So we must pursue holiness, but we do this by pursuing The Lord, seeking to get close to Him.

Then we will be in a place where everyone is crying “HOLY,” and we will too.

……………………………………………………………………………….

Visual Descriptions for our dear Zoe, and for anyone else who may find them helpful:
Header Image: Is a view of a gigantic Tree that dwarfs everything around it. Even though it is in the distance, it still looks huge. There are outcroppings of it’s bark that form ledges and there appear to be tiny figures on one of the ledges, headed for an opening in the massive trunk. A few gnarled outgrowths that may be roots are growing out of the trunk, with a large one growing down into the ground, perhaps serving as a support.
There is a stream running beside the Tree and in the far distance is a lake. Beyond that, are mountains with light coming up from behind them, casting a golden glow on everything. The sky is kind of hazy with a few windblown loosely formed clouds overhead.
Second Image: A stone pathway leads up to tall double doors, built into the side of an enormous tree trunk. The doors are arched and covered in ornate carvings. There are a few small points of light in the doors, giving off a slight blue glow. Rays of sunlight illuminate the path in front of the doors.
Third Image: Is an open-sided room with a view of treetops. There is a warm glow coming from a wood-burning stove and a comfy looking couch. Nearby is a rustic table and chair,  a bed covered in fluffy fur throws and a hot tub in the corner overlooking the mountain vistas.* A large tree trunk and branches support the rustic ceiling…and tree branches form the railing along the side deck. (*H/t to Teagan.)
Fourth Image: President Trump has his back to us and is facing a gaggle of press curs across the lawn. He is holding up his right hand at shoulder level and making a fist…perhaps a signal that he is going in.
