Vengeance is Mine
When we’re hurt, abused, humiliated, or treated unjustly, we naturally want the offender to experience what we felt. We demand our “pound of flesh” and may not rest till we get it. This is the crux of many Hollywood movies and seems like the right thing to do. If someone shows us kindness, we’re often eager to repay him or her. Why shouldn’t we repay the wrong that is done to us, too?
Scripture has a different view, and God says, “Vengeance is mine.” While accepting our human desire for “payback,” Paul gives us a better path than what we see in many crime movies. In Romans 12:19–21, he writes,
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
The NKJV translates Romans 12:19 as “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord.”
The message of Romans 12 flows from the previous text, where Paul established the principle of righteousness by faith. Romans 1—8 covers why Jesus had to be sacrificed for our guilt and how we’re made righteous by faith (Romans 3:22). Chapters 9 to 11 are an aside on the Jews, after which Paul introduces chapter 12 with the sentence, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Every other verse in that chapter details how we should live as recipients of God’s mercy.
The command for Christians to not avenge themselves results from the fact that we were saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9). Our righteousness is a gift from God received by faith, not by works (Romans 3:21–26; 4:5; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 3:9). As people forgiven by God through Christ, we’re commanded to emulate God’s nature by forgiving others who have wronged us (Colossians 3:13; Ephesians 4:32). Jesus further stresses the need for forgiveness (Matthew 18:21–22), and His standard is love toward our enemies (Luke 6:27–28; Matthew 5:43–45).
What about retributive justice? Who will satisfy that need? That’s where God comes in. Paul quotes from Deuteronomy 32:35 to tell us who’s ultimately in charge of payback. God is. Vengeance belongs to God, not to us.
The problem is not our need for retributive justice, per se. It is good to want to see justice done. But we have a sinful nature, even as regenerated believers; hence, the struggle within us (Galatians 5:17). It’s impossible for us to seek vengeance with absolutely pure motives. When avenging a wrong, we usually trade in our altruism for animosity, and our desire for righteousness is mixed with self-righteousness. Just as with every other normal desire, the desire for vengeance can become a dungeon of pain and bitterness.
The only One who can carry out true justice without the taint of impure motives is God. He’s the Ultimate Judge, answerable to no one, set to “repay everyone according to what they have done” (Romans 2:6; cf. Psalm 62:12). This knowledge should give us comfort when we are wronged, as well as the freedom to let go. Jesus is our example in this: “When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly” (1 Peter 2:23).
What should we then do to those who wrong us? Follow Paul’s instruction in Romans 12:20, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him” (cf. Proverbs 25:21–22; Matthew 5:43–44). This way, we won’t be engulfed by evil, but rather we will overcome evil by doing good. Then, Second, they lab-created a “VLP-based vaccine” that would “induce robust functional antibodies and immune responses” to the said two new, chimeric H5N1 viruses. However, I am now forced to address something which is deeply tied to 9/11, the assassination of our leaders, and the attempt upon the life of our President, Donald J. Trump.

I now find myself in a remarkable state of – as Sundance once put it – cold anger.
Indeed, I almost feel no true “anger” in this emotional state. I feel a “detachment toward what is necessary”, you might say.
In some ways, this is the emotional average of where I was, loving and hopeful, and where I should be, which is righteously angry. I had been very hopeful for imminent reconciliation with the left. I was hopeful for easy peace. Sadly, I don’t think that is to be. I pray I’m wrong, but I don’t think so.
The left is devolving into 100% “people who willingly choose to exit badly.”
I feel a kind of resignation. It is very unlike the anger that I felt on 9/11/01 – and more like the determination I felt when I stood still on our statehouse steps, with eyes closed in prayer, and allowed screaming, violent, BLM radicals to shout obscenities in my ear, as corrupt state police supporting them did nothing but watch me for any excuse to arrest me.
Perhaps I am too much the student of history. Perhaps I have read too much about the Spanish Civil War, the latest point about which I just read today, interestingly enough. I definitely read too much about the very similar but very obscure Finnish Civil War, likewise the result of inappropriate leftist ambitions to change and rule a country against the will of the populace.
Spaniards and Finns don’t like to talk about their civil wars, and I don’t blame them. Civil wars are horrible and unnecessary. And yet, when the mobs that want them, get them, they drag people like me into the matter, and I don’t like it.
The left starts killing the people who stand in their way, and what do you know – those people do something about it, and put it down. Whoda thunk? Right? The problem is, a lot of innocent people die in the process.
If history serves, the left will make big moves at some point, so YOU need to be prepared.
The assassination of Charlie Kirk is like a test case. That’s all. They’re testing us. They’re seeing if we figure it out. They’re seeing what we do. It’s a PAWN MOVE in the chess game – before the bigger piece exchanges that MUST COME.
The left’s violent coup will be timed to surprise everybody, so don’t be surprised when it happens. Instead, be ready.
IMO, the reason we’re not seeing a lot of activity from the leftist pols is that they are very busy with secret activities. They are resigned to a violent coup of some kind, possibly with foreign assistance.
I am still holding out for peace, but we may be talking about a kind of “relative” peace, rather than an absolute one.

Now – it’s time to bring this to specifics.
We have roughly three years, as a baseline, in which our right to bear arms is more or less protected, outside of the communist states. We need to maintain situational awareness at all times, against both leftist political violence, and leftist-supported “regular” violence, which they use as a deniable tactic against us.
Treat ALL violence as being directed against you by the left. It is ALL an intentional assault upon you. Treat ALL violence against anybody else as being directed against THEM by the left.
ALL violence in America is THE LEFT’S responsibility. ALL OF IT.
The left must be blamed relentlessly, to diminish their numbers. As people realize the DANGER that the left in power poses for them, their parents, and their children, people will flee the left, and we can help.
We must not let up. The left both IS violent and ENCOURAGES violence by criminals.
Leftist judges must be impeached, defeated, and driven from office. They must be shamed, mocked, ridiculed, and their evil made naked to the world.
This requires an uprising of the population. Not a violent one, but an uprising just the same.
Ask yourself – are you prepared to ride out a violent leftist coup that brings everything to a halt for WEEKS or even MONTHS?
In ALL cases of “stand up or go along” with criminal violence, we must stand up. That means being ready to SHOOT and KILL anybody who raises a knife or gun against the innocent. Hopefully the dear perpetrators live and face trial, and meet Jesus in prison, but we must save the innocent at every opportunity, and if a fatal shot is the only way, then it must be done.
Get your concealed carry license. Get some training. Learn how to shoot. Learn WHEN to shoot. Learn how to win peacefully, and hopefully you will never have to pull your gun (a badge of honor, IMO), but be prepared for that moment when you DO have to pull your gun, because leftist violence is increasing, and the left is increasingly justifying violence of all kinds.

My take:
#1 – shooter was a hired, drop dead professional, which means he had an escape hatch that no one else knew about + he would hold a lot of black mail info on his paymasters. He’s gone and won’t be found.

I understand the rage of people who want to see Epstein’s clients brought to justice. (I was raped at work.) However we need to step back and really LOOK at the situation. I agree with POTUS Trump. It is another Russia,Russia, Russia.
…When the “note” first appeared after a DOJ “leak,” Trump posted, “The supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE.” He has hinted that Biden’s DOJ put a lot of “garbage” in the Epstein file. President Trump also sued the Wall Street Journal silly over the story, which would be a strange bit of brinksmanship if he knew the note was legit….
…Oddly enough, one of the few individuals willing to publicly defend the Duke lacrosse players was Stephen Miller. Yes, that Stephen Miller, the founder of America First Legal who will serve as deputy chief of staff for policy in Trump’s second term. He wrote conservative columns for the Duke student newspaper at the time and was invited on national news shows to give his perspective on the case. During an interview with noted crime commentator Nancy Grace after the first two arrests were made, Miller said, “I think I speak for many students when I say we’re very, very concerned that two innocent people, possibly, just had their lives ruined.” Grace gasped in horror at the assertion. Miller was invited back on several programs after the rape charges were dropped to take a well-deserved victory lap; he accused lacrosse team haters of pursuing a “political agenda” over the truth.
The rape charges were dropped after a series of unfortunate events for the bloodthirsty district attorney, Mike Nifong. One indicted player had evidence to corroborate an alibi that he wasn’t at the party…
This sort of smear job is standard practice for the D-Rats. First they tried Stormy Daniels and then E. Jean Carroll. Carroll did not make the same mistake Crystal Mangum did. When Carroll accused POTUS Trump, she never gave specific times and dates that could be refuted and picked Trump hating NYC to bring her case.
To put it bluntly the Epstein case is OLD and STALE making solid cases from the information quite difficult without corroborating evidence. I do not count other witnesses as evidence for reasons that will become clear below.
Unfortunately evidence held by the FBI, especially the NYC FBI, I would consider suspect given their track record of covering up for the Deep State and especially for the Clintons.
NYPD sources said these new emails include evidence linking Clinton herself and associates to:
• Money laundering
• Child exploitation
• Sex crimes with minors (children)…
NYPD detectives and a [sic] NYPD Chief, the department’s highest rank under Commissioner, said openly that if the FBI and Justice Department fail to garner timely indictments against Clinton and co- conspirators, NYPD will go public with the damaging emails now in the hands of FBI Director James Comey and many FBI field offices.
“What’s in the emails is staggering and as a father, it turned my stomach,” the NYPD Chief said. “There is not going to be any Houdini-like escape from what we found. We have copies of everything. The CIA videotaped the interrogation of 9/11 suspects, falselytold the 9/11 Commission that there were no videotapes or other records of the interrogations… The tape of interviews of air traffic controllers on-duty on 9/11 was intentionally destroyed by crushing the cassette by hand, cutting the tape into little pieces, and then dropping the pieces in different trash cans around the building as shown by this NY Times article (summary version is free; full version is pay-per-view) and by this article from the Chicago Sun-Times….

Las Vegas Massacre
OT covered this topic extensively. I think it was Wolfie that mentioned victims that were organizing to bring out the facts about other shooters ended up dead. Also IIRC the site was quickly bulldozed to prevent analyzing the bullet paths. Those paths would be clear evidence of multiple shooters. Later we learned the Maui Police Chief, John Pelletier, was the incident commander during the Las Vegas massacre.
The DA insider said Aaron Rouse who heads the FBI in Las Vegas reports directly to FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabewho is running point on the Las Vegas shooting probe. Rouse, who for years worked under McCabe in the Bureau’s Counterintelligence Division in D.C., was appointed to the Las Vegas post by ex-FBI director James Comey in 2016.
According to the Las Vegas source, Rouse’s FBI has discounted most of the intelligence and evidence found by investigators outside the bureau, including LVMPD as well as solid evidence pinpointed by investigators working with the county DA’s office.
Some of this evidence deals with forensic proof that a second shooter may have opened fire on the concert goers, the law enforcement source said.
Paddock, the DA insider said, was firing rounds from approximately 400 yards away from the concert from the 32nd floor on Mandalay Bay. The law enforcement source said investigators turned over proof to the FBI that a second shooter was firing from inside a perimeter of approximately 215 yards... Truepundit.com reported: “It’s a movie script that was written after the shooting to rewrite what really happened,” one FBI agent said. “The investigation is an entirely different story that we are not allowed to talk about. If we do and get caught, we get fired and probably charged (criminally)…
So the FBI, especially the NYC FBI, has a history of LYING and DESTROYING EVIDENCE in order to protect the Clintons and other Elites. This is the SAME FBI that was in charge of the Epstein Files for over four years.
Aubergine mentioned information captured by NSA. Given the solid control the Deep State had for years over the US government, I would not bank on the critical files being captured and stored. A quick look at the destruction of some of the Epstein material.
The structure, referred to informally as a “temple,” was not built even remotely like the music pavilion plans submitted to the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Resources, NBC reported Thursday. Flanked by gold-painted statues, the mysterious building has inspired conspiracy theories.
Notably, the door to the building seems to lock from the outside.
“It’s styled like what you might see on a castle, with what appears to be a reinforcing lock bar across the face,” contractor James Booth told Business Insider. “What makes it peculiar is that if you wanted to keep people out, the bar would be placed inside the building, [but the] locking bar appears to be placed on the outside … as if it were intended to lock people in.”
This is not the only time Epstein has defied the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Resources. The department issued, and workers ignored, a stop-work order on the construction of an amphitheater and “underwater office and pool” on Big St. James, according tothe New York Post...

Considering the fact that Litte Saint James was the site of heinous crimes involving powerful people, one would expect the island to be treated like a crime scene that is completely closed off to non-investigators. That is not what is happening.

We have newly unsealed documents – including the depositions of Ghislaine Maxwell and one of her victims – revealing new details on the extent of the abuse and victimization that took place by Jeffrey Epstein. Those filings come from Giuffre v. Maxwell, a civil case filed against Maxwell in 2015 in the New York Southern District.
Some of the broader allegations have already been made public. Sarah Ransome, who accused Epstein and Maxwell of abuse that took place during her early 20s, settled a civil lawsuit against them in 2018. Ransome has publicly described some of the abuse. And there have been reports on what transpired at Little St. James, often referred to as Epstein Island…
Let’s get to the new details, starting with the testimony of Ransome, available here. She actually lived one of Epstein’s apartments in 2006 with a few other girls. During that time, she worked for what she described as an “agency” which arranged paid dinners with wealthy clients: “I was paid to spend dinner with a gentleman.” Whatever happened after dinner with the client was done on her “own accord” and “after that time period had finished.”….
She said her car had been hit by a school bus travelling at over 60mph and the accident had left her with kidney failure.
The photograph showed discoloration to Giuffre’s face and chest which has been described as severe bruising.
In the post after the crash, she expressed that she was ready to die.
‘I’ve gone into kidney renal failure, they’ve given me four days to live, transferring me to a specialist hospital in urology,’ she said.
‘I’m ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time.’….
Daily Mail Australia subsequently spoke to the bus driver and multiple eye witnesses to the crash who confirmed it was a ‘minor bump.’
It was also revealed that Giuffre had been listed to face court ten days before the crash over the alleged breach of the family violence restraining order….
Investor and entrepreneur Stephen Deckoff bought Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘Pedophile Island’ as part of a $60m deal and plans to build a luxury resort.
In the aftermath of Epstein’s death, it was listed for sale for $125 million in 2021. In May 2023, it was sold to billionaire Stephen Deckoff who vowed to turn it into a luxury resort by 2025. Deckoff is reported to have paid around $60 million for the property as well as for Great St. James. Epstein’s estate has said that any money generated from the sale of his properties would be used to settle lawsuits…. [Has video and photos.]
So there goes any chance of actually recovering any more evidence from that island.

Wolfie mentioned finding bones of victims. Maxwell had a submarine and a helicopter as well as the licenses to use them, so I imagine any bodies ended up as shark food. Any blood or other evidence has long since been destroyed.

We move to neighboring New York to begin the next reveal of the remaining Declaration signers. So let’s open with some famous New Yorkers and NY related songs to get us warmed up. There are Goober Gump sightings in this one.
OK, went back in the time capsule for that one. In fact, I saw him in concert in Vegas a few years previous to this performance. Yes, I’m old.
Let’s go with a more current NY music entertainer, albeit a now older guy who is having his own health issues and stepping back from the limelight.
Well, now that you asked, I also saw this guy in concert in 1973; the year Piano Man came out following the Cold Spring Harbor Tour. He excitedly announced on stage that the song was going to be released in about a month along with a planned album later. The response from the thousands in the crowd after hearing the song was like thunder. As we now know, that song is timeless Americana that will be forever associated with Billy Joel.
Then there was the following New York bred music entertainer, Harry Chapin, that some may know, or barely remember, or may not know at all . Yup, saw him the same year. Hands down one of the best concerts I have ever seen. He held the crowd in his hands with his stories, humor and talent. His brother, Tom, sang the high female voice part. Tom also did a cool Saturday morning children’s TV show called Make A Wish that won an Emmy. He played six instruments in the band. In addition, Harry’s bass player was the baritone voice heard as Mr. Tanner in the song of that name. That song was based on a real person and event with the actual name, location and occupation changed to protect the described person. Years later the person learned about the song and was very happy that Harry had remembered him.
Harry’s life was cut way too short at age 38 in an auto accident on the Long Island Expressway. So, here is one in his memory…
However, as much as I enjoyed and was musically influenced by the NY entertainers above, the following expresses my personal thoughts and feelings about New York itself. That is not a slam to the many fine people who live in the state or some of its more beautiful environment. It is directed at just how far the state in general has strayed from its founding and service to America. That has led to the virtual destruction in the quality of life one should expect. I will address more of my thoughts on that issue in a future part.
Yeah, as he toured the south I saw this Philadelphia area singer songwriter, Jim Croce, who would not be recognized by many as a classically trained music student at Villanova as a young man. Yes, the concert I attended was in that same year. It was held less than two weeks before his plane went down with his bandmates traveling to a concert in Louisiana and he was lost to all of us. What the world did not know at the time was that he was choosing to give up his promising entertainment career to write short stories and movie scripts. While on this last tour he had written his wife a letter describing his decision. It arrived after his passing.
We never know as we wander through life what is in store. Time to get busy.
New York Revolutionary War Militia Involvement
The following in the link below is priceless for historians and genealogists as it was published in 1904 and archived by the State of New York’s Office of the Comptroller. It contains documents and records from the Revolutionary War period in the state that includes names of militia members in every regiment and area of service. I found it interesting, especially the fact that the Comptroller at that time documented the fact that NY provided more than double the number of military members during the Revolutionary War than credited by historians up to that point. The two figures are starkly different at 17.8 K officially versus 43.6 K with this revision. Yet, another proof that history and narratives are frequently wrongly stated. Readers should keep that in mind when trying to learn more and should not take statements of historians as gospel without first personally investigating and consulting numerous sources.
So why is this adjustment important? It is hardly surprising that Massachusetts earned the honor of having the most members in our military. But few might know that with this documented revision that New York would be second on the list. It gives readers an indication of the commitment of the residents in each state toward the cause of liberty during the period. You learn that NY’s involvement represented approximately 20% of the total estimated participation of 200,000 men give or take. Even with the information provided there is cause to believe there were a great deal more men involved in the conflict based upon the records of pensions granted to members who were injured in the conflict whose names do not appear in any other records, indicating the original enlistment records were lost. Such is the case with NY.
Included in the first 25 pages or so of text are descriptions of war efforts, battles, conflicts with Indian tribes who were stirred up against the colonists by the Brits/loyalists, pay, rations, service requirements, attire, weapons, training and so forth. This quote was also very interesting – “Quakers, Moravians and United Brethren were enrolled, but exempted from service upon payment of money, which varied in amount as the war progressed until, in 1780, they were obliged to pay £160 per year.”
So some could legally buy their way out of serving. I guess money was tight and patriot lives were cheap for everybody else.
Another interesting quote relates to slaves – All slaves ‘killed in the service were to be paid for. In time of invasion, any slave, not in the military service, found one mile from his master’s abode, without a certificate from his master showing his business, might be ” shot or otherwise destroyed without fear of censure, impeachment or prosecution for the same.” In 1781, it was provided that any slave who should enlist and serve ” for three years, or until discharged,” should be declared a freeman of the State.
That might burst some holier than thou bubbles.
So, even if I am not a big fan of New York today as the state has clearly lost its way for quite some time and still creates millions of slaves of a different sort, I salute the commitment to the patriot cause of its forefathers. We will now turn our attention to one such Declaration signer. As we will learn, the cause of liberty was met with challenges, violence, death and misfortune for many; which included some of our founding fathers who we celebrate and thank today.
Phillip Livingston
Phillip Livingston was born in Albany, NY in 1716. He was the fourth surviving son of Phillip and Catherine Van Gogh Livingston. His father emigrated from Scotland and mother was Dutch. His father lived in the Albany area in 1673 and later owned a large rural estate as a 2nd Lord of the Manor, some 160,000 acres located along the Hudson River about 40 miles from Albany. He received the estate for his faithful service to the Brits in political appointments such as Secretary of Indian Affairs, in his fur and other trading activities as well as in his close associations with the Dutch due to their family’s background and ability to speak both languages. This established him into the aristocracy of the region and the estate was granted him by the royal governor for his efforts. The manor later became known as Clermont and was held by seven generations of the Livingston family until the year 2000. A photo and link about them and it is below.
Young Phillip spent his time between his father’s Albany townhouse and the estate. He went on to Yale and graduated in 1737 before returning to begin a mercantile apprenticeship under his father. He served in clerkships in the Albany government before moving to New York City to begin a career in the import business trading in the West Indies. He was very successful through the years that followed and became wealthy. He made much money providing British military provisions, slave trading, and privateering. For those who do not know what privateering is; it is a government authorized form of pirating. The privateer was authorized to violently attack shipping interests, usually foreign, to seize the cargo on behalf of the government. They would split the goods and/or profits. In 1740 he married the daughter of a British Colonel, Christina Ten Broeck. They went on to have nine children together.
Phillip gave back to the region with his finances and time. He advocated for the founding of a school that is now Columbia University, for a Professorship of Divinity at Yale, helped in the building of the first meeting house for the Methodist Society of America, and helped organize the New York Public Library. He then entered public service as a New York City alderman. He served three terms on its Provincial Assembly. He was slow to join the independence movement, but over time he saw it as the right way as the oppressive British tax acts began accumulating. He was adamantly opposed to taxation without representation as he still considered himself to be a British citizen accorded all rights of the nation. He would be elected or chosen to positions within the Provincial Assembly only to meet British opposition and removal. Eventually, in 1769, the royal governor dissolved the city’s Assembly.
In response he became a member of the Committee of 51 that chose him as one of five delegates from the state to attend the First Continental Congress in 1775. At the same time he served as President of the New York State Provincial Assembly. He signed the Olive Branch Petition to try one last time to move the King away from his push for more control and taxes in the colonies. The King refused as we know. This led to the Declaration of Independence, which Phillip approved and signed on behalf of the state.
As a person Phillip could be gruff and irritable at times in his political and business dealings. However, he was known to be very kind and loving with family and friends. He was reserved and spent a great deal of time reading. He was a deacon and elder in the Dutch Reformed Church throughout his life.
However, like many wealthy mercantilists during the era he participated heavily in the slave trade and personally owned some for a number of years. There is a report that indicated he was involved in at least 15 shipping transactions of hundreds of slaves that were brought to the NYC area for sale. As another example, in one article there was discussion of him advertising and offering a reward for the return of his property, a slave who had escaped. This bit of history and other slave trading related accounts have often been deleted or glossed over in the many historical accounts of Phillip as well as other northern founding fathers.
I must interject here as I find what has been happening with the rewriting of history to be tragic. This series has been a real eye opener for me. There is no call for this type narrative based rewriting of history that I am seeing repeatedly. In my view it means the rewriters have ulterior and probably nefarious motives to do so. In regards to the subject of slavery, what was an acceptable and legal practice during that period in time is no longer so. Just observe, recognize the truth, and move on. Chalk it up as a wrong that has been righted.
The Livingston extended family were prominently involved throughout New York state and colonial government. Phillip’s first cousin, Robert, was even appointed to Chancellor of New York State, its highest judicial office. He was a framer of the Declaration of Independence and later administered the oath of office to George Washington as President. He served as Minister to France in negotiations for the Louisiana purchase in 1803. We must note that he and the other American negotiators figuratively struck gold on that one. Some twenty Livingston kin of Phillip served as officers in the Continental military. The family was patriot to the core.
Both Colonial and British forces occupied two of his homes in the city at various times, First, Gen. Washington used one as his headquarters before the colonists lost battles around the city, at which time the Brits used it to house military members as well as his second home as a hospital. Phillip and his family fled from the fighting to their home in Kingston, NY. When this happened his slaves escaped and some were thought to have joined the British forces to later earn their freedom. The Brits eventually burned all of the town of Kingston to the ground. The family escaped again back to the safety of their native Albany area.
Phillip was chosen as a state senator while remaining a member of the Continental Congress. In fact, he served up to the actual day of his death while working in the same assembly in 1778. He died from the long term effects of dropsy (edema) at age 62. Members of the Continental Congress attended his funeral and there was an official one month mourning period. He is buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery in York, PA. The prominence and dedication of both Phillip and his cousin, Robert, are noted with several memorials in Washington, DC. With the British destruction he had lost most all of his properties and holdings while still having debts owed from his estate. The sale and repayment took nearly 25 years to resolve. His wife, Christina, remained in the Albany area surrounded and cared for by family for the rest of her life. She lived to the age of 82.
Phillip Livingston gave all he had for his country, family and friends. His family legacy was faithfully served by his efforts as well. We have great appreciation for this patriot founding father.

God Chose Israel

God chose the nation of Israel to be the people through whom Jesus Christ would be born—the Savior from sin and death (John 3:16). God first promised the Messiah after Adam and Eve’s fall into sin (Genesis chapter 3). God later confirmed that the Messiah would come from the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Genesis 12:1-3). Jesus Christ is the ultimate reason why God chose Israel to be His special people. God did not need to have a chosen people, but He decided to do it that way. Jesus had to come from some nation of people, and God chose Israel.
However, God’s reason for choosing the nation of Israel was not solely for the purpose of producing the Messiah. God’s desire for Israel was that they would go and teach others about Him. Israel was to be a nation of priests, prophets, and missionaries to the world. God’s intent was for Israel to be a distinct people, a nation who pointed others towards God and His promised provision of a Redeemer, Messiah, and Savior. For the most part, Israel failed in this task.
