2025.04.22 Daily Thread – American Stories: When in the Course of human events – Part 15

It is time for to take a breather of sorts relating to the signers of the Declaration of Independence. We will return to a specific founding father next week. I thought it would be interesting to spend some time on the important value of American women during the period. There was nothing of more importance to America’s survival than the families who lived here. This meant men and women needed to build lives together, get Biblical and multiply. 😉

The role of women in accomplishing the mission of our nation should not be ignored as it was vital to our survival.

Courting

Shall we discuss the ancient art of attraction between females and males? Or is it science; and if it is, is it settled science? 😂

From the Colonial Williamsburg website,

It may be that the traditional route to conjugal correctness—chaste courtship, formal engagement, church wedding, consummation, and parenthood, in that order—is less traveled. But historians say the modern, mixed-up, anything-goes form of bonding that includes physical intimacy and permanent or temporary cohabitation, with children born in or out of wedlock, is not altogether different from some of the practices of segments of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century populations.

As far as chaste courtship is concerned, the good old days have been overrated, almost as mythical as the Standish-Mullins-Alden triangle that Longfellow invented. Blame human nature if you like, but for want of a better phrase, hanky-panky was as prevalent among some eighteenth-century folks as it is among some of the twenty-first’s. Beyond doubt, most people stayed strictly within the bounds of propriety, but in the mid to late 1700s, more than one girl in three was pregnant when she walked down the aisle. In parts of Britain, 50 percent of brides were great with child.

https://research.colonialwilliamsburg.org/Foundation/journal/Holiday07/court.cfm

Well, well, well. It seems some things never change.

There are many sources one can read that reflect on the patriarchal dominated aspects of families during the period. Marriages were often prearranged for business and wealth purposes. The requirement of attraction and love between partners was nearly non existent with some. Outward displays of affection even between married couples were generally frowned upon leading into the Revolutionary War period. Courtship for many was a formal process of marrying two families together to pursue common goals. That is unless you were a commoner in which case you could pair up and just say vows to each other to start cohabitating legally.

With independence and as America began to develop its own ways of doing things, courting practices gradually changed with it. Which leads to the linked story below involving a few founder couples and their marital situations.

https://www.frauncestavernmuseum.org/love-in-the-time-of-revolution-blog

Cupid’s arrow hit some hard as expressed in the following,

You engross my thoughts too entirely to allow me to think of any thing else—you not only employ my mind all day; but you intrude upon my sleep. I meet you in every dream—and when I wake I cannot close my eyes again for ruminating on your sweetness.” — Alexander Hamilton to Elizabeth Schuyler, October 1780

The Enlightenment era had brought change in many beliefs and practices. As previously discussed it was a major motivator of the attitudes and approaches of Thomas Jefferson. It seems the timing was good for a better way to view courting and marital relationships in America. Below is a section from an article in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts that describes the change well.

For the men and women who came of age after the Revolution, selecting a marriage partner was the most important decision of their lives. In generations past, parents had played a decisive role in these negotiations. But over the course of the 18th century, young people gained more independence in their choices. And romantic love—based on mutual affection and companionship—became the ideal.

Putting love at the center of courtship also raised the stakes. Men became more vulnerable to personal rejections. For women, the perils were greater. A string of broken engagements could cast the woman as a flirt—a “coquette” in the language of the day—or, worse, prompt speculation about her virtue. A marriage entered into too hastily held its own dangers. A woman’s husband largely determined the comforts and privileges she would enjoy as a wife. While he could participate in the public world of commerce and politics, she had only the home she created with him from which to draw happiness.

Discovering the personality of a potential spouse could be a delightful adventure—conducted through breathless dances, nighttime walks and, of course, intimate cups of tea—but it was also a serious matter that demanded careful consideration.

Sounds like a big improvement from dad and mom picking one out to me.

Childbearing

In doing these American Stories it has been very obvious that having children during those days was not an easy task and that it frequently was met with great sorrow. Many of these celebrated founding fathers lost their wives and children during childbirth. Based on research of records some sources estimated that 1-2% of the women died during delivery. The odds escalated with each childbirth thereafter. In addition it is estimated that 20% of the children died between birth and five years old. The average woman had seven live childbirths during her lifetime in the 18th and 19th century. According to a number of their personal journals it appears many prepared for their own deaths mentally as well as by writing wills when they learned they were pregnant.

For slaves the odds were far worse. Estimates range from 28-40% of the children died at birth with an estimated 40-50% mortality rate by age ten. Malnutrition, being overworked, lack of access to medical care, diseases and so on made things worse for them.

Despite all of that the population of America doubled about every 25 years and the odds of surviving childbirth for both mother and child improved as the nation became more settled.

Women Warfighters?!

Check this out from the linked article below.

There are known cases of women who chose to actively join the armies as fighting soldiers. One of the most famous of these women was Deborah Sampson. Originally from Massachusetts, she disguised herself as a man in order to fight in the Continental Army. Serving under the alias of her deceased brother, she fought with the light infantry company of the Fourth Massachusetts Regiment. She was wounded in action in Tarrytown, New York, with two bullets in her thigh and a gash on her forehead. Not wanting her identity to be revealed, she had her head wound treated and then left the field hospital unnoticed. She was later able to extract one of the bullets from her thigh with a knife. Her identity was finally revealed during the summer of 1783 when she contracted a fever while on duty in Philadelphia. After the Treaty of Paris, she was given an honorable discharge from the army. She went on to marry and had three children, settling down back in Massachusetts. To help make ends meet, she often gave public lectures about her wartime service. By the time she died in 1827, she was collecting minimal pensions for her service from Massachusetts and the federal government.

https://www.battlefields.org/learn/articles/10-facts-women-during-revolutionary-war

She was a major league bad azz. That article opens the eyes about the real involvement of women in support of the war efforts as well as keeping families and communities going back home. The following digs deeper into the women that traveled with their husbands in the military.

https://www.ancestry.com/historical-insights/war-military/american-revolution/women-in-the-american-revolutionary-war

From it we also learn the meaning behind the Molly Pitcher name that I am sure our mollypitcher can opine about. Another link below gives more names and the nature of their contributions.

https://facts.net/history/historical-events/35-facts-about-revolutionary-war-women

Women & Education

Prior to the war, it appears the primary education for women was to learn to read and do basic math to help teach the children and run the home. In doing so the women were to teach the children religious studies. It is no secret that religion had a major place in the homes and society of the colonies. Many colonists had previously fled religious persecution and wanted no part of it in America – freedom of religion was a requirement. They worked to make sure it was built into the fabric of the American Way.

After the Revolutionary War the efforts of leaders seemed to evolve into providing more opportunities for women to gain a broad based education and to eventually become educators as a result. They knew America and its future was dependent upon an educated population. However, there was forward thinking about the subject prior to and during the war as the following article discusses for women in Concord, Lincoln and Lexington, MA. The activities even included women teaching and administering.

https://www.nps.gov/articles/000/alyssa-kariofyllis-women-of-the-battle-road-paper-3.htm

The link below goes into more detail that involves founding father Benjamin Franklin’s evolution in understanding the value of a broader education for women.

https://benjaminfranklinhouse.org/a-quiet-revolution-exploring-eighteenth-century-womens-education-through-sally-franklin-and-polly-stevenson

Many of the founding fathers desired to provide public education for all male and female children to gain acceptance and to be provided throughout the states post war. Some took steps to accomplish the vision that eventually led to women receiving a more robust education. At times it was met with great resistance from traditional, fundamentalist religions as well as from those who viewed formal education as impractical. A handful of founders agreed with what founder Charles Carroll sought, that younger women slaves should be educated so they could teach their husbands and children. They felt it would help them integrate into society better since they believed the slaves would inevitably be freed.

Religion And The Family

To better understand the value and place of women in the period one needs to understand the order and nature of families. The following linked article is provided as a teacher resource and it provides some really good information on giving a summary view from a Protestant denominational standpoint using several books as sources.

https://nationalhumanitiescenter.org/tserve/eighteen/ekeyinfo/erelwom.htm

The vast majority of our founders and general population were Protestant in their beliefs. The article gives examples from one source that divided the families into three groups.

We will discuss the overall importance of religion in America in a later Part in a few weeks.

For Entertainment

As the wife of a commoner colonist husband the following might describe the man who came home to her after a night out with the boys, or, might describe her own activities out on the town with her husband. From the Revolutionary War Journal comes the following,

Toasts and common songs brought people of all stations together. Taverns were male domains where men drank heavily, cursed frequently, gambled, fenced goods, passed money, and fought – at times resulting in murder. Women rarely set foot in a tavern unless she was traveling with a male companion or were a prostitute. Occasionally dances were arranged which allowed women who entered and exited separately from the men.

Songs sung in taverns was usually performed by patrons for their own entertainment singing solo or in large groups. Tavern owners rarely hired musicians to perform. Entertainers would show up at a tavern hoping to entertain the patrons, making them happy enough to make a donation. These musicians often mixed ballads of laments that were subdued and reflective, with rowdy drinking songs that encouraged the clientele to join in.   These musicians often played an instrument. The violin was most common followed by the flute, fife, and trumpet. The Pochette or “traveling violin” was small and very portable. Occasionally tavern owners would own instruments and provide them for the musician’s use such as a violin or harpsichord. Most performers made their own instruments and composed many of their own ballads.

Below is a song originating in Scotland that undoubtedly would have been sung in those taverns.

For the more refined couples of that day, there might be a performance of Handel’s Messiah at Trinity Church in New York City.

If in Philadelphia those same couples might take in a Alexander Reinagle piano concert with friends.

At least it gave the wife a break from the kids.

Prominent Women

There is some interesting summary background information on these ten “amazing” women discussed in the linked article below.

Pay attention next week, we have an American woman married to a French guy that makes a cameo appearance near the end.

We give thanks for these women as they made us better as a nation while fulfilling equally important roles as the founding fathers for We the People.

Please remember Wolf’s rules for our community. In general that means to be respectful to each other and to pull no shenanigans that your mom might find offensive or otherwise cause jail time. That said, free speech is honored here.

Be blessed and go make something good happen!

But they don’t have anything else.

mollypitcher5

These last 2 don’t have a critical element. The bad police. The bad cop, even with video bumps it up to hysteria.
The MS13 guy does have deportation which they’re desperately trying to use as the evil but it’s not really hitting. People of all colors don’t have much sympathy for the illegal invaders.
The track meet murderer only has a white athlete as the “bad” guy who wasn’t doing much more than minding his own business.

Gail Combs

AND PROTECTING HIS PROPERTY!

Notice that the MSM never mentions the alleged murderer, Anthony was pawing thru the victim’s bag of belongings when Anthony said “Don’t Touch Me!” before knifing the victim thru the heart.

And this is a Blast from the past:

2022 – 911 Call: Kim Foxx’s Husband Reports ‘Domestic Issue’: ‘Don’t Touch Me!’

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s husband’s 911 call has surfaced days after a police report came to light showing he alleged that Kim became physical and slapped him….

Police said they did not see “evidence to support an arrest.”

As Breitbart News reported in 2021, referencing a Chicago Tribune article, Foxx “dropped 25,000 felony cases,” which included cases involving murder charges.

A PAC backing Kim Foxx received 2 million dollars from far-left billionaire George Soros in 2020, Breitbart News pointed out, citing the Chicago Sun-Times.

mollypitcher5

The entire incident feels off to me. Original reports said Anthony wasn’t participating in the meet..so why was he there? Why paw through a bag in full view of people ? Why the verbal taunt and threat? Allegedly, per his activist spokesperson and family, Anthony is an A student, such a good boy with both parents yet he deliberately created the altercation..?????

patfrederick

the reports I saw said he was on suspension for having a knife in school.

mollypitcher5

hmm well that’s interesting

Instead of trying to defend what they are doing, which clearly isn’t making any difference to a press corpse whose only focus is ‘gotcha’ questions, try doing something else, to get the point across.

Flip the script.

Tell them that in order to impress upon the press corpse and the criminal American Left exactly why what the bureaucratic Deep State is doing is so bad for ‘our democracy’, we’re going to demonstrate it in a way that you cannot miss.

We are going to keep the same number of bureaucrats in the government, so you can all finally breathe a sigh of relief.

However, we will be replacing every member of the federal bureaucracy with radical right-wing hooligans, religious zealots and people who just don’t GAF.

And we’re going to turn them loose on the American Left.

The entire DoJ will be focused on investigating, charging and prosecuting every high profile Democrat in the country. ALL of them. At once.

The Civil Rights division will ban gay marriage and everything related to homosexuality and transidiocy. We know you’ll run to your criminals in the judiciary. Go ahead, it won’t matter. We’re replacing all of the judiciary staff too, so the Leftist judges will be subverted and resisted and sabotaged by their own staff. Like the DoJ staff lawyer who thought it would be funny to insert ‘accidentally’ into the government’s response in the case of the removal of the El Salvador gangbanger deported to CECOT. After all, turnabout is fair play.

With tens of thousands of radical right wing government officials in every single department doing exactly to the Left what the Left has routinely done to conservatives for the past 50 years, you won’t even know where to start.

Conservatives have decades of experience in how to survive and prosper in a 100% federal, state and local Leftist full-court press. The Left has zero experience. You won’t even figure out which way is up before Trump’s term is over.

Not only is abortion going to be banned, but we will be seeking the death penalty for every doctor, nurse or other medical professional who facilitates an abortion, and life in prison for every woman who gets an abortion.

We will only bring charges in states and cities that are deep RED. Most crimes happen in blue sh!tholes, but we will be seeking (and getting) change-of-venue to RED states for prosecution. Turnabout is fair play.

Not only is the 2nd Amendment going to be promoted by every agency in government, it will be reserved for only those who love the Constitution, which means no Leftists will be allowed to possess firearms. If you hate the Constitution, then we want to accommodate you by not affording you any of its guarantees or protections. We pledge to never make the Left love or support the Constitution.

You will be relieved to know that we are not going to change the number of recent alien invaders in the country. Unfortunately, you will be horrified to find out that we are going to replace them all with an equal number of white conservative Christians from Western Europe, from Eastern Europe, from RUSSIA and everywhere else white conservative Christians live.

We’re going to fly them in, and give them the money to get established that the criminal Left was giving to all their crony NGOs and alien invaders.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Every single aspect of government is going to be weaponized against the Left and against every Leftist cause that has existed in the last 50 years, and we are going to eradicate all of it with an unelected, radical right-wing conservative bureaucracy that will continue to exist for decades after Trump’s term is over, because we will make it so no president who succeeds Trump will ever be able to fire them.

So just sit back and enjoy the show, you’re gonna love it.

By the time Trump’s term is over, you’ll be begging for the authority to get rid of entrenched government bureaucrats living the high life at your expense, and obliterating everything in America that even hints at a Leftist origin.

You’re going to find out what it is like to be on the receiving end of the bureaucratic Monster that is the federal government, and you will never escape from it in your lifetime.

You will beg, you will plead, you will cry like little girls, and that will only make the government ranks swell with more radical right wing bureaucrats eager to make you suffer.

Asking ‘gotcha’ questions will be the last thing to ever cross your mind again 🤣

“EMERGENCY MOTION FOR A STAY PENDING APPEAL

https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.cadc.41957/gov.uscourts.cadc.41957.01208731409.1.pdf

It begins:

INTRODUCTION

“[O]ccasion[s] for constitutional confrontation between the two branches

should be avoided whenever possible.” Cheney v. U.S. Dist. Ct. for D.C., 542 U.S.

367, 389-90 (2004). The district court’s criminal contempt order instead escalates

the constitutional stakes by infringing core executive prerogatives. The Supreme

Court has already intervened once, vacating the district court’s March 15, 2025

temporary restraining orders (TROs) and requiring that any further challenges to

detention and removal under the Alien Enemies Act proceed in Texas, where

plaintiffs are in custody.

Instead of winding down D.C. proceedings, the district court has pivoted to

compelling the Executive Branch to pursue two alternative but equally

unconstitutional avenues to address supposed violations of a now-vacated TRO.

Either Defendants must aid the court in its efforts to effectuate a contempt

prosecution—a step that unconstitutionally commandeers the President’s exclusive

and preclusive prosecutorial powers. Op.43-44. Or, the Defendants may cure

contempt by “assert[ing] custody” of individuals who are in the custody of El

Salvador—a step that unconstitutionally compels the Executive Branch to persuade

or force a foreign sovereign to accede to the court’s demands. Those separation-of-

powers violations manifestly warrant this Court’s immediate intervention. The

district court’s commands function like injunctions and are appealable as such. At a

1minimum, the Executive Branch can obtain immediate review of an order that

inflicts immediate, irreparable harms by subjecting the Executive Branch to actions

that district courts cannot constitutionally require…

The Civil Rights division of the DoJ should be protecting American female athletes from the encroachment of mentally deranged cross-dressing males and the sick, criminal politicians who support them.

Any Democrat in the country who tries to deny the rights of women to be safe and secure in their locker rooms, their bathrooms and athletic competitions will be treated the same as Alabama Governor George Wallace in 1963.

The POTUS will send the U.S. Army’s 2nd Infantry Division from Fort Benning, Georgia to protect the female students of Maine, to protect their rights and to make them safe from Leftist sexual perversion and gender-dementia.

It’s not on the list of convictions people are waiting for, but it’s something.

Disgraced Former Democrat Senator Bob Menendez’ Wife Convicted in Bribery and Corruption Case

“Over the span of five years, Nadine Menendez agreed to accept and accepted all sorts of bribes – including gold bars, cash, a Mercedes-Benz convertible, and a no-show job – all in exchange for the Senator’s corrupt official acts,” said Podolsky.

“Together, Nadine Menendez and the Senator placed their own interests and greed ahead of the interests of the citizens the Senator was elected to serve. Today’s verdict sends the clear message that the power of government officials may not be put up for sale, and that all those who facilitate corruption will be held accountable for their actions.”

According to the New York Post:

Prosecutors said she acted as the “go-between” connecting Bob with businessmen who funneled bribes to them from the Egyptian and Qatari governments.

In exchange, the pilloried pol leveraged his powerful post as head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to lobby colleagues to unfreeze $300 million in Egyptian military aid that had been held up due to human rights concerns and dole out other valuable favors, jurors heard.

“What else can the love of my life do for you?” Nadine told one Egyptian official while sitting alongside her cigar-puffing hubby during a May 2019 dinner at Morton’s Steakhouse, evidence revealed.

Former Garden State insurance broker Jose Uribe testified that he bribed Nadine with a new Mercedes-Benz C-300 in exchange for her husband’s help shutting down a criminal probe.

“Congratulations mon amour de la vie, we are the proud owners of a 2019 Mercedes,” Nadine texted her husband after receiving the first payment toward the new car, using the French phrase for “love of my life.”

Brave and Free

Today’s verdict sends the clear message that the power of government officials may not be put up for sale, and that all those who facilitate corruption will be held accountable for their actions.”

SS failures is the singular focus.

Same kind of questions I would ask about any public official.

Government work doesn’t pay that well, and if she’s rolling around with a wad of $3,000 cash in her purse, then she should be on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, not head of DHS.

You can’t even withdraw that amount of cash from a bank without getting the 3rd degree from the teller, about what you need it for, and what you’re going to spend it on.

Exactly. TwoFer.

  • None of the government’s business.
  • NOR is it any of our business.

SS Failures AND capturing AND punishing shitheads Is All That Matters.

scott467

My point was that corruption is always a problem in public officials.

Any public official (who isn’t a billionaire before becoming a politician, like Trump) who is walking around with $3,000 in their pocket and wearing a $60,000 Rolex sure oughta raise eyebrows at the very least. WTF.

To wear a $60,000 Rolex to a maximum security prison in El Salvador is just stupid, it’s an appalling lack of discernment and judgment.

Or it’s arrogance and entitlement so vast that the person is not even living in the real world.

Certainly not the world I live in.

I sure AF wouldn’t wear a $60,000 watch to a maximum security prison. Or anywhere else for that matter, it’s an ostentatious display of wealth and status.

Which again, is highly suspect in a public official, who wasn’t already extremely wealthy before they became a public official.

My point was that corruption is always a problem in public officials.

  • Commonly, yes it is.

Any public official (who isn’t a billionaire before becoming a politician, like Trump) who is walking around with $3,000 in their pocket and wearing a $60,000 Rolex sure oughta raise eyebrows at the very least. WTF.

  • Seriously, who gives a rats ass if she is wearing a $60,000 Rolex and carrying $3,000 cash.
  • Rolex could have been a gift from hubby. She may have simply liked it and bought it.
  • $3,000 could be for any number of reasons.

To wear a $60,000 Rolex to a maximum security prison in El Salvador is just stupid, it’s an appalling lack of discernment and judgment.

  • Can’t see this is such a BFD.

Or it’s arrogance and entitlement so vast that the person is not even living in the real world.

  • Yet, she lives in the real world.

Certainly not the world I live in.

  • Nor mine.

I sure AF wouldn’t wear a $60,000 watch to a maximum security prison. Or anywhere else for that matter, it’s an ostentatious display of wealth and status.

  • Nor would I. ONLY because I’ll never own a Rolex.

Which again, is highly suspect in a public official, who wasn’t already extremely wealthy before they became a public official.

  • Doubtful it applies to Noem.

  :wpds_arrow: Focus should be.

  • SS fucked up and and needs to be held accountable.
  • A criminal needs to be arrested and tried in a court.
  • Nothing else in this saga really matters. Nothing.

Carrying cash. Including several thousand is NBFD. Unique yes.

Your nickle. Going silent on this one.

It is easy to accumulate $3000 without taking that amount out of the bank. I save all the time from what is over from household money.
Maybe she carried that much being with family wanting to give some a money gift. That is what I do specially for granddaughter.
What is disturbing that a person was able to steal the purse. Sometimes I see women hang their purse over the back of their chair. Maybe she put the purse on the table next to her. What is strange that people with her did not notice the guy. Always sit against the wall one can see everything 🙂

As other opponents of the climate hoax do, I eagerly await the Trump administration’s termination of the Environmental Protection Agency’s so-called endangerment finding (EF). I had imagined that the reversal would be accomplished over the course of at least a year and probably more through the conventional administrative process of notice-and-public-comment. But things may get much more exciting, much more quickly.

“Colony Ridge Gave Greg Abbott $1.5 Million. Here’s What Greg Abbott Gave Colony Ridge — Records obtained by The Daily Wire show Texas governor played central role in securing massive tax benefits for the illegal immigrant enclave.”
Daily Wire, By  Spencer Lindquist, Apr 21, 2025
comment image?ar=16:9&fit=crop&crop=faces&fm=webpPhoto by John Anderson/The Austin Chronicle/Getty Images /// Texas Scorecard
EXCERPT: “When the Trump administration’s deportation raids began in Texas, the epicenter was Colony Ridge.
In the first wave of raids alone, more than 100 illegals — including murder suspects, drug lords, sexual predators, and a confirmed cartel member — were nabbed by authorities in the infamous housing development, which ballooned as illegal immigrants flooded the state. The “fastest growing” development in the country markets cheap land to foreigners, and illegal immigrants took the bait: in an area where there was next to nothing less than a decade ago, there are now as many as 100,000 residents and more than 35,000 properties. Through its aggressive marketing of cheap land in the United States, it was projected to grow to a quarter of a million people.
But the rapid growth of an illegal immigrant haven was not thanks to the marketing strategy alone: A Daily Wire investigation found that in 2018, Colony Ridge’s growth was supercharged by an Opportunity Zone designation awarded by the federal government following a direct plea from Texas Governor Greg Abbott. The Opportunity Zone program aims to spur development of low-income areas by offering investors significant tax breaks, including the deferral of capital gains taxes.
Though Abbott has attempted to distance himself from Colony Ridge after its practices were exposed — his office was an active partner in the federal deportation raids — The Daily Wire found that the governor helped lay the economic groundwork that made the development’s explosive growth possible, and that developers donated to and built a relationship with Abbott as they worked to build Colony Ridge up to its current 34,000-acre footprint.
This report is based on pages of previously unreleased communications, meeting logs, and other internal documents obtained by The Daily Wire through public records requests. It reveals that Abbott petitioned the federal government to secure the major tax incentive for Colony Ridge as the development’s backers made donations to his campaign, and paid multiple visits to the governor’s mansion.
Abbott’s Relationship with Colony Ridge
At least on paper, the relationship between Abbott and Trey Harris, the lead developer of Colony Ridge, began in 2018. On March 19 of that year, Celeste Harris, the developer’s wife, donated $100,000 to Abbott, according to state campaign finance records. That donation came just two days before the original deadline for states to nominate census tracts for opportunity zone status.
Then on March 21, the day of the deadline, Abbott wrote a letter to the Treasury Department nominating the area surrounding Colony Ridge to be designated a federal Opportunity Zone, according to records obtained by The Daily Wire, which asked Texas to produce all correspondence regarding the designation of the Colony Ridge development as an opportunity zone.
comment image
Two weeks later, on April 4, Harris and a local lawmaker named Brandon Creighton were Abbott’s guests for lunch at the governor’s mansion, according to meeting logs obtained through a records request. And just two days after the lunch meeting, on April 6, Abbott penned a second letter to the Treasury Department on the Opportunity Zone request. Four days later, on April 10, he sent a third letter to finalize his nomination of the census tracts to become Qualified Federal Opportunity Zones.
By July 9, 2018, the IRS had designated Colony Ridge and the surrounding land an Opportunity Zone……”

EACH DAY WE TAKE UP THE OFFENSIVE WEAPON OF THE WORD OF GOD – THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – ONE VERSE OPENS THE DOOR TO THE CONTEXT OF THE CHAPTER MESSAGE

Verse of the Day for Tuesday, April 22, 2025

“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”

Romans 5:17 (KJV)

COMMENTARY FOR ROMANS 5

“The happy effects of justification through faith in the righteousness of Christ. (1-5) That we are reconciled by his blood. (6-11) The fall of Adam brought all mankind into sin and death. (12-14) The grace of God, through the righteousness of Christ, has more power to bring salvation, than Adam’s sin had to bring misery, (15-19) as grace did superabound. (20,21)1-5 A blessed change takes place in the sinner’s state, when he becomes a true believer, whatever he has been. Being justified by faith he has peace with God. The holy, righteous God, cannot be at peace with a sinner, while under the guilt of sin. Justification takes away the guilt, and so makes way for peace. This is through our Lord Jesus Christ; through him as the great Peace-maker, the Mediator between God and man. The saints’ happy state is a state of grace. Into this grace we are brought, which teaches that we were not born in this state. We could not have got into it of ourselves, but we are led into it, as pardoned offenders. Therein we stand, a posture that denotes perseverance; we stand firm and safe, upheld by the power of the enemy. And those who have hope for the glory of God hereafter, have enough to rejoice in now. Tribulation worketh patience, not in and of itself, but the powerful grace of God working in and with the tribulation. Patient sufferers have most of the Divine consolations, which abound as afflictions abound. It works needful experience of ourselves. This hope will not disappoint, because it is sealed with the Holy Spirit as a Spirit of love. It is the gracious work of the blessed Spirit to shed abroad the love of God in the hearts of all the saints. A right sense of God’s love to us, will make us not ashamed, either of our hope, or of our sufferings for him.”

“15-19 Through one man’s offence, all mankind are exposed to eternal condemnation. But the grace and mercy of God, and the free gift of righteousness and salvation, are through Jesus Christ, as man: yet the Lord from heaven has brought the multitude of believers into a more safe and exalted state than that from which they fell in Adam. This free gift did not place them anew in a state of trial, but fixed them in a state of justification, as Adam would have been placed, had he stood. Notwithstanding the differences, there is a striking similarity. As by the offence of one, sin and death prevailed to the condemnation of all men, so by the righteousness of one, grace prevailed to the justification of all related to Christ by faith. Through the grace of God, the gift by grace has abounded to many through Christ; yet multitudes choose to remain under the dominion of sin and death, rather than to apply for the blessings of the reign of grace. But Christ will in nowise cast out any who are willing to come to him.”

Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH

What concerns your heart today – pray you learn;
It’s the heart that reveals – for what you yearn;
God knows your heart – and the heart praises God;
The loyal heart – in thanksgiving – gives Him laud!

What – in faith – does man ask of God – his Lord?
Does he ask for money – or peace – to be cured?
Does he ask for understanding – knowledge – too?
Does he ask what God wants him – today to do?

What – in faith – will he undertake – this day?
Will he help another – to find his way?
Will he selfishly – ignore his brother?
Put his needs over those – of the other?

Will he – in faith – defer his safety to God?
Is he afraid to let go – and give Him laud?
Does he doubt God’s protection – and His care?
Does he trust God – with all he does and dare?

Faith is the substance of things hoped for;
The evidence of things not seen before;
It requires us to step forward – unsure;
Of what will happen – of what is in store!

What happened to Peter – when he doubted?
He sank into the water – to Jesus – he shouted;
I am in trouble – help me please – Oh Lord;
Had Peter had faith – he would’ve been on board!

Jesus rebuked him – for his lack of faith;
Oh Ye of Little Faith – to him – Jesus saith;
Will He say the same – when you’re filled with doubt?
Or will you have faith – and turn troubles about?

Do you know faith is blocked out – by your fear?
Listen and heed – give the Spirit your ear;
Repent of your sins – cleanse your heart today;
With the Spirit inside you – turn your fear away!

When you are troubled – try hard to refrain;
From losing heart – close to God – please remain;
It is His Spirit – who dispels your fear;
Repent of your sins – draw Him close and near!

Ask Him to increase – your faith and resolve;
Have no doubt He’ll oblige – doubt He’ll dissolve;
Step upward – outward in faith – be not afraid;
Oh Ye of Little Faith – may it ne’er be assayed!

“Why Is The U.S. Lending $5 Billion To An American Natural Gas Competitor? The Export-Import Bank approved a $5 billion loan to a French energy company to build an LNG pipeline in Mozambique, competing with the U.S.”
The Federalist, By: Daniel Turner, April 22, 2025
comment image
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The Export-Import Bank recently approved a $5 billion loan to French energy company TotalEnergy to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline in Mozambique. An American organization is funding America’s economic competition, contradicting its mission and President Donald Trump’s plans to support U.S.-based businesses.
Ex-Im was established in 1934 via an executive order by Franklin D. Roosevelt as an independent executive agency with the purported goal of supporting American jobs by facilitating the export of U.S. goods and services.
Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy just wrapped up a trip to Asia to secure contracts for Alaska’s LNG industry and the construction of its new pipeline. U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright is authorizing LNG expansion nationwide. At the same time, Ex-Im is funding a direct competitor. Why? How?
Mozambique has a geographic advantage over America for many LNG export markets. Its capital city, Maputo, is 2,800 miles from Mumbai, India. Anchorage is nearly 10,000 miles away. Thus, Alaskan LNG will have much higher transportation costs reaching Indian markets. Mozambique’s LNG is closer to many other foreign countries than to the U.S.
These nations will choose cheaper LNG and put America at a competitive disadvantage.Creating American Jobs?
The Ex-Im Bank says this loan will “support more than 16,000 American jobs and nearly 70 U.S. suppliers across country.” And that may be the case in the construction of this pipeline. Perhaps they do buy American raw materials, and that would be good for American manufacturing. The construction of the pipeline is not the problem but rather the loss of market share once the pipeline is operational. If short-term and one-time manufacturing orders were the sole consideration, then by this logic we should fund nuclear plant construction in Iran to increase the purchase of American uranium. We should fund the construction of munitions factories in Russia if Russians buy American steel.
President Trump’s pick to head the Ex-Im Bank, John Jovanovic, has yet to be confirmed by the Senate, and this decision was made by the acting president. One can only speculate if the loan would have been greenlit considering Trump’s America First energy agenda, especially in the area of LNG. But this LNG loan is not working in concert with the greater Trump energy agenda. Thwarting China?
Ex-Im says this investment will help thwart Chinese investment in the project and their dominance in the region, but this sudden attention to the threat of Chinese incursion seems opportunistic. In 2023, Ex-Im made a $950 million “investment” in so-called renewable energy, with China controlling 70 percent of the manufacturing and 90 percent of the raw materials markets for wind and solar. My organization has documented this in several reports. Ex-Im Bank did not seem to worry about the threat of China when it transferred hundreds of millions of tax dollars to the Chinese Communist Party.
Thanks to the generosity of the Ex-Im Bank and our U.S. taxpayer dollars, as soon as Mozambique’s LNG industry is operational, foreign markets will purchase LNG from Mozambique instead of from more expensive America. That will be good, too, for the French company who owns the pipeline. Not so good for America.Accountability to Americans
Many factions fight for power in Washington, D.C., and most of them are not elected and act with no accountability to the American president let alone the American people. The power of these agencies along with their budgets and grant-making ability should set policy and agendas always aligned with America’s interests. Right now, much of D.C. seems to be aligned to the Obama administration, or maybe even FDR’s. They are certainly not aligned to the America First plan for which more than 77 million voters cast their ballots.
The common criticism of Elon Musk from angry leftists is he is an “unelected bureaucrat.” Every sunny Saturday for the past few weeks, thousands of protesters held poorly made signs “Fire Elon” and “No one elected Elon” outside of Tesla dealerships. Musk’s crime is, of course, exposing the waste, fraud, and abuse of unelected bureaucrats — like those at the Ex-Im Bank who are driven by their agenda, not America’s interests.
It is time Trump put such wasteful bureaucrats on the same trajectory as the Department of Education. We will all be better off when they are shuttered for good.”

pgroup2

This globalist myopia is rooted so deep that we need to do some genetic manipulation to the D.C. political DNA.

Basically a temple to water, and, by extension, GAIA…

And yes, Nestle are the most heartless, cold-blooded, Satanic lot you could find no matter how hard you tried… Sad to say, they own almost the entire food chain, and what they don’t, Unilever do. And Unilever aren’t any better…. Gore-Bull-ists all.

WHOO BOY: In an order filed last night, Judge James Hendrix–the judge in Texas presiding over latest Alien Enemies Act case which prompted unprecedented intervention by SCOTUS–accused ACLU atty of violating federal code of conduct rules by calling his chambers AFTER Hendrix denied the 1st emergency temp restraining order on April 17.

This was noted on the docket after Hendrix filed his order. Now it makes me wonder if Lee Gelernt did not do exactly the same thing with Judge Jeb Boasberg–which could explain Boasberg’s quick action on March 15.

This is not allowed:

Here is the voicemail from Gelernt.

What are the chances he left the same message with Boasberg in the wee hours of March 15? In fact (and I will look at transcript), I believe Boasberg admitted to being “in communication” with ACLU prior to issuing any order or setting hearings.

Hendrix denied the emergency motion bc Trump adm said the 2 anonymous Venezuelan illegals cited in the lawsuit would not be removed. But–just like in the Boasberg case–that was not enough.

ACLU was demanding the case be converted into a class action suit covering ANYONE in the jurisdiction that might be subject to the Alien Enemies Act–which is what Boasberg did before his “return the planes” stunt.

ACLU was hoping for same outcome here. Hendrix was not playing their game. Even so, he was advancing the suit on Good Friday–but that wasn’t good enough for ACLU, which is used to running roughshod over the courts.

They immediately appealed, taking the matter out of Hendrix’s hands. Then they cried to SCOTUS, who bailed ACLU (and the illegals) out.

SCOTUS just got involved in what looks like a very dirty case from the start. Good to see at least one judge stand up for himself and for the process.

The Supreme Court issued a decision today in an alien removal case — Monsalvo Velasquez v. Bondi.

The Court decided that when an alien is given 60 days to voluntarily depart, the 60th day falls on a Saturday, and the alien files a motion to reopen his deportation proceedings on the Monday after the 60th day, that filing is timely — on day 62 — even though the 60th day was the last day to to file.

All well and good.

But the important question that will be asked by the general public, from a layman’s perspective is:

Why is the Supreme Court deciding seemingly inconsequential matters such as whether filing on a Monday following a weekend deadline makes that filing in immigration courts on deportation issue timely — while matters of enormous significance to the legitimacy of what a new POTUS Administration is trying to accomplish get kicked around in lower courts with no meaningful guidance coming from SCOTUS?

patfrederick

the above opinion does not provide info that this guy violated his 60 day removal order twice before.

Bessie2003
April 22, 2025 12:09 pm

The U.S. Supreme Court issued one ruling today, in the case called Monsalvo Velazquez vs Bondi, Attorney General.
link to the ruling, which was 5-4 the majority opinion written by Gorsuch:
https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24pdf/23-929_h3ci.pdf
It’s an immigration ruling where the man was ordered removed but he requested 60 days to voluntarily remove himself, which was granted, and he overstayed and again was ordered removed and again requested a 60 day period to voluntarily leave the country which gave him another 60 days voluntarily deport. Turns out he stayed, and filed another appeal for another 60 days to voluntarily leave because the previous removal date fell on a weekend.
so basically the U.S. Supreme Court has said the guy gets to have another trial because Congress should have made note in their immigration laws that when deadlines fall on a weekend day that the person gets to stay until the next ‘business day’ arrives.
Personal assumption – am thinking this case is what our beloved Supreme Court is using to justify their jumping the gun on this latest intrusion into President Trump’s removal of illegal immigrants so they use these cases as a means to re-write immigration law similar to how Chief Justice Roberts re-wrote the Obamacare law by magically turning it into a tax bill.
Hope the Solicitor General who argues the upcoming case is up to the task otherwise I fear this court’s going to turn the Alien Enemies Act into an even newer version of a tax bill by saying deporting illegals cuts into the taxes localities, States and federal agencies would otherwise be able to collect from undocumented labor, or something.

pgroup2

Far be it from me to defend a bunch of dirty courts [SCOTUS?], but this point of law has been determined hundreds of times before in every court system in the USA.

There is no way that the decision by the lower court was correct. There are court rules all over the country that say the exact same thing as SCOTUS said. That makes the point into what is known as black letter law – law that is so basic that if you [lawyer] don’t know it you’re an absolute legal idiot. .

that might be correct for his LAST removal order…but what about not leaving with his FIRST ONE? He had more than enough time to remove himself voluntarily.

patfrederick

if there’s no penalty for noncompliance, why bother at all?

mollypitcher5

Right?!

pgroup2

The answer to your question was given by Joe diGenova this morning, albeit in a slightly different context.

He was asked what is wrong with SCOTUS – referring to the midnight order. He said, the law clerks are out of control.

Judges’ clerks are the ones that actually read the briefs and motions, not the judges. The clerks give summaries of the issues in each case to the judges. There is a chief clerk for each judge and that is the person to whom all the lesser clerks submit their summaries. The chief clerk uses them to prepare his/her own summary to give to the judge. If that summary ‘rides’ on the camaraderie between the judge and the chief clerk, what are the chances that the judge is going to do anything other than accept it as is?

The election integrity cases I’m working on have this same problem with the WA Supreme Court right now. We’re trying to figure out how to deal with it since the courts here are not covered by public records [FOIA] laws.

“Here Are the Infuriating ‘Consequences’ for That Minnesota Employee Accused of Damaging Teslas”

Red State, By Nick Arama  | 8:50 AM on April 22, 2025

comment image
AP Photo/Richard Vogel
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Last week, Dylan Bryan Adams, a 33-year-old who works for the Department of Human Services for the state of Minnesota (part of the Tim Walz regime), was arrested for allegedly damaging at least six Teslas.

The damage was significant, causing about $21,000 in damage, ranging from about $1,600 on one car to $10,370 on another, according to police. Video allegedly caught him in the act.

So you would think that this might merit some significant charges.

But you would be mistaken. Turns out the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has decided that he won’t face charges at this time. Instead, they will enter him into an adult diversion program. So if he doesn’t do anything else and he satisfies whatever restitution requirements or community service they might set, that may be it.

It sounded like the police were not very happy about this at all.

In a statement provided Monday night, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara voiced frustration about Adams not being formally charged.

“The Minneapolis Police Department did its job,” O’Hara said. “It identified and investigated a crime trend, identified, and arrested a suspect, and presented a case file to the Hennepin County Attorney Office for consideration of charges. This case impacted at least six different victims and totaled over $20,000 in damages. Any frustration related to the charging decision of the Hennepin County Attorney should be directed solely at her office. Our investigators are always frustrated when the cases they poured their hearts into are declined. In my experience, the victims in these cases often feel the same.

Each act was a felony, according to the police. While the Hennepin County Attorney has “discretion,” the Hennepin County diversion guidelines refer to property crimes “less than $5,000.” So it appears to be varying from that guideline. And of course, there’s more here than a simple property crime, and you have multiple vehicles.

The Minnesota DHS said, “We are reviewing the matter at this time…State employees are expected to follow our code of conduct and hold themselves to the highest ethical standards through their words and actions.”

So it remains to be seen whether this will have any impact on his job. I’m not sure I’d bet on it, given the way the Country Attorney is proceeding.

Gov. Walz has made antagonistic comments against Tesla and Elon Musk, even celebrating when Tesla was going down in the stock market and encouraging people to demonize Musk. He was rooting against both American workers and a company that Minnesota pension funds had been invested in.

More than a little infuriating.”

Adult diversion to settle the case.

Adult Diversion Program

Diversion is a voluntary program, a privilege not a right, that provides an alternative path through the criminal justice system. Goals of diversion include rehabilitation, prevention of future crimes, and repair of harm to crime victims, including payment of restitution and participation in restorative justice processes, if required. Diversion focuses on accountability, while allowing people to avoid consequences that criminal convictions may bring. The potential consequences of a criminal conviction are substantial. Criminal convictions can impact future employment, eligibility for student financial aid, housing, ability to own and possess firearms among other lifelong impacts. Legal consequences can be mitigated while still addressing the behavior that led to the charge and enhancing the personal responsibility of the defendant who enters and completes the program. The Diversion Program will make referrals for evaluations, individual treatment and recovery support services through collaboration with various community agencies. Treatment services may be delivered in person or through an e-learning platform. Services will be targeted to individual needs, including but not limited to, substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, life skills and other needs identified to have contributed to criminal conduct. The Diversion Program is supportive of medically assisted treatment (MAT), as needed. Sobriety will be monitored throughout the program. Successful completion of the diversion program will result in full of dismissal of charges that led to participation in the diversion program.

Of course from this lady’s office…………

Mary Moriarty is the current County Attorney of Hennepin County, Minnesota, having assumed office on January 2, 2023. She previously served as the Chief Public Defender of Hennepin County and is known for her advocacy on issues of racial equity in the criminal justice system

On December 23, 2019, Minnesota State Public Defender Bill Ward announced that he was placing Moriarty on indefinite suspension.[14] The Minnesota Board of Public Defense hired a law firm to investigate allegations that she had posted offensive content on social media, created a fearful environment in her office and fractured relationships with criminal justice leaders.[15] Ward pushed the state board not to renew the contract of Moriarty.[16] Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said that Moriarty is “one of the most principled people I know. I’m concerned about her treatment; it appears connected to her advocacy for racial justice.”[17] Ellison called for the Minnesota Board of Public Defense to examine the process that led to Moriarty’s suspension, saying he believed Moriarty was targeted for speaking out against racial bias in the criminal justice system.[18]

Raphael Warnock Slapped With Ethics Complaint for Living in Free $1 Million Luxury Home
‘Something potentially very wrong is afoot,’ ethics watchdog says

Andrew Kerr
April 21, 2025

When it comes to the lavish $1 million Atlanta home where Sen. Raphael Warnock has lived rent-free since 2023, the Georgia Democrat can’t expect to have his cake and eat it too, an ethics watchdog alleged in a complaint filed Monday.

Warnock’s lavish DeKalb County home came equipped with a plethora of luxury accommodations, including a 100-bottle wine fridge, a bluetooth-enabled cooking range, and remote-controlled privacy curtains. The senator hasn’t paid a penny out of his own pocket to live there because the church where he serves as a part-time pastor is footing the bill, the Washington Free Beacon reported. It’s a great deal for Warnock, but it may violate Senate ethics rules that limit how much lawmakers can accept from outside employment, the ethics watchdog Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) alleged in a complaint to the Senate Ethics Committee.

“This is a matter of plain common sense,” FACT executive director Kendra Arnold said in the complaint. “It is difficult to fathom [how] any citizen could look at this situation (a U.S. Senator being a part-time employee of an organization that happens to buy him a million-dollar house to live in for free after he was elected to Congress, and after which he sells his own house) and not think something potentially very wrong is afoot.”

In her complaint, Arnold said Warnock’s free luxury housing arrangement likely violates the Ethics in Government Act, which could carry a range of sanctions for the Georgia Democrat including public reprimand, fines, or censure. She said Senate ethics rules only allow for Warnock’s free housing deal if it’s customary for Ebenezer Baptist Church to provide free luxury homes to its part-time pastors and if it’s something the church provided to Warnock independently from his position as a senator.

Those requirements “have not been met,” Arnold said in her complaint, noting that the value of Warnock’s housing benefit appears to far exceed the part-time nature of his work with the church.

“Especially given the limited amount of time Senator Warnock has for outside employment and the $31,815.12 annual salary he receives from the church in addition to the housing, it appears clear that the housing is excessive and unreasonable for the services he is actually performing,” Arnold wrote.

Arnold’s belief that Warnock’s housing benefit is excessive is shared by Dr. Albert Paul Brinson, a former associate of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who was ordained at Ebenezer Baptist Church by the civil rights icon in 1965. Brinson said during an interview with a local activist in March that King “would have never endorsed” church funds being used to facilitate luxury living for its pastor. Brinson said Ebenezer Baptist Church’s housing allowance was designed to provide modest accommodations for its pastors.

Warnock’s financial entanglements with Ebenezer Baptist Church have been a consistent political headache for the Georgia Democrat. During his 2022 reelection campaign, Warnock came under fire for accepting a $7,417-per-month tax-free housing allowance from the church to cover his Atlanta living expenses, an arrangement that enabled him to exceed the Senate’s outside income limitations. At the same time the church underwrote Warnock’s living expenses, however, it also owned a low-income Atlanta apartment building that tried to evict residents during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic for as little as $28.55 in past-due rent, the Free Beacon reported.

The circumstances of the church’s purchase of Warnock’s luxury DeKalb County home in October 2022 are also suspect, Arnold said. Ebenezer Baptist Church purchased the luxury home just a few months before Warnock secured his reelection bid that year and before he purchased his own $1.15 million townhome in Washington, D.C., in January 2023. Warnock then sold his personal Atlanta home shortly after moving into the church’s luxury house. The timing, Arnold said, “suggests his position as a Senator was a consideration in providing this specific housing,” the watchdog said.

Even if the Senate Ethics Committee clears Warnock of any wrongdoing for accepting free housing from his church in lieu of the $7,417-per-month he received during his first Senate term, Arnold said he would run into another problem: The Georgia Democrat didn’t disclose the value of his free luxury housing in his 2023 financial disclosure in what she said is a violation of the Ethics in Government Act. “There is simply no contrary argument that it is not disclosable,” Arnold said.

“One must ask, if the laws written do not prohibit this particular situation or, at the bare minimum, at least merit a mere investigation, then what were they even written for?” Arnold said. “It is inarguable that the known facts do not appear to comply with the Senate Ethics rules, whether the Senate Ethics Committee will act upon it, enforce the law, and maintain the public’s confidence is another question.”

Warnock’s office did not return a request for comment.

Oh, and the reference to Publication 517?

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p517.pdf

Note that the IRS ultimately is founded on the IRC — Internal Revenue Code — as written by lobbyists Congress. This is then covered by IRS Regulations, which are promulgated by the agency and may be covered by the recent SCOTUS rejection of the Chevron Doctrine. These are then presented to the public in IRS Publications, which do not have the direct force of law but largely determine IRS behavior because getting caught contradicting them is embarrassing.

Enough is enough – it’s time for President Trump to consider suspending the writ of Habeas Corpus to deport the millions of illegal aliens who invaded our country

It’s in the Constitution – Article 1, Section 9

It’s allowed when there is an invasion

FDR used it

Lincoln used it

Ulysses S. Grant used it

And all their faces ended up on our national currency

I hope Trump suspends habeas to repel this historic invasion – we’re more than ready to defend him and take our country back

OK, this is pretty crazy — in a good way.

Anyone remember Crazy Eddie? New York discount electronics accompanied by obnoxious commercials? Eddie Antar was the CEO, and his cousin Sam Antar was the CFO.

The whole company was founded on scams — equipment “fallen off of trucks”, recorded as sales in jurisdictions with lower sales taxes — casual, penny-ante stuff. The Antar family was from Syria, and they’d done business that way since it was Assyria.

And, then, they went public and took their frauds and swindles into the stratosphere. When the Feds caught up to them, Eddie decamped for foreign climes — while Sam went the State’s Evidence path and went honest. I’m required to take a certain amount of classes regarding accounting fraud to maintain my license, and Crazy Eddie’s is frequently discussed.

Since then, Sam has worked as a forensic accountant, poring through information to find fraud and misstatements for the Good Guys……..

Until he tripped over Letitia James….

“Just take your commission, shut up, and move on.”

scott467

At around the 6 minute mark, he says it had to be the appraisers, the loan officers or the title company who helped her.

Seems like it could also be the lender or the mortgage broker, if one was involved.

The loan officer may have been working for a mortgage broker, someone who originates and processes the loan, collecting whatever documentation the lender requires to close the loan.

They also mentioned the difference between a 4-unit rental property (which is still considered ‘residential’ for loan purposes) and a 5-unit rental property.

A 5-unit rental property is considered ‘commercial’ and should require a commercial mortgage loan, which will qualify for a lower loan-to-value (e.g., 65% to 70% LTV for commercial vs. maybe 80% to 85% LTV for residential), is going to have a higher interest rate, probably higher insurance costs, higher loan fees and probably require a lot more documentation, and documentation is often a problem for borrowers.

So Big Tish would have been strongly motivated to misrepresent a 5-unit property as a 4-unit property.

The appraisers could misrepresent the property (or the value of comparable properties in the appraisal assessment) for the loan officer.

The loan officer could misrepresent information to the Title company, or the Title company could misrepresent information to the lender / bank (or both working together could try to deceive the lender).

The bank / lender could be misrepresenting information to whomever they sold the mortgage to (e.g., Fannie Mae for Freddie Mac).

I’m sure TradeBait could explain it better and go into more detail, and point out where the problems are most likely to have occurred (and be found).

cthulhu

I would look at commonalities between the transactions. If they all were financed through the same bank, or worked through the same agent, appraised by the same appraisers. This would, of course, need to go through diligence as to whether “J. J. Smith & Company” was the same as “John Jacob Smith and Sons” or similar.

cthulhu

Incidentally, the 4/5 unit apartment building thing put me in mind of the “Get Off The Earth” Puzzle of Sam Loyd [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Loyd ].

You may be able to operate a similar puzzle, “The Disappearing Bicyclist” here — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Loyd#Vanishing_puzzles

It shouldn’t be too difficult to design, run through plan-check, build, and sell a four-unit apartment building that could be converted into five units simply and reversibly as soon as the ink was dry.

scott467

Loyd patented rotary vanishing puzzles in 1896 and published versions named Get Off the EarthTeddy and the Lion and The Disappearing Bicyclist (pictured). Each had a circular card connected to a cardboard backdrop with a pin, letting it rotate.

In the Disappearing Bicyclist, when the disc is rotated such that the arrow points to A, 13 boys can be seen. When rotated so that the arrow points to B, only 12 boys appear.

This violin and bow (in the wood case that “Pop” also made) was given to me when I started making noises about taking violin lessons early in high school. I actually played on this homemade violin for a couple of years, until I could earn enough money from giving piano lessons to buy my own violin. *Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on his company’s earnings call on Tuesday that he’ll spend much less time with DOGE starting in May.

•Tesla’s stock price has plunged more than 40% this year.

•The company on Tuesday reported an earnings and sales miss and said auto revenue dropped 20% in the quarter from a year earlier.

I want the work of DOGE to continue.

HHS and FDA announce plan for industry to voluntarily phase out harmful synthetic dyes in food

April 22, 2025

Consumer Reports applauds goal but cautions that multistep, voluntary process could be drawn out, encourages states to adopt bans while agencies work towards phase-out

WASHINGTON DC – The Department of Health and Human Services and Food and Drug Administration announced a plan today to phase out eight petroleum-based dyes in food, which have been linked to several serious health problems. Under the plan, the agencies will rely primarily on food companies to voluntarily stop using most of the dyes. HHS Secretary Kennedy indicated at a news conference that the plan is based on “an understanding” the agencies have worked out with industry. The plan is short on details on what action the agencies will take if food companies fail to remove the dyes by the end of 2026.

Consumer Reports, which has long advocated for eliminating harmful food dyes, said the goal is laudable, but the plan could take years to achieve and that states should continue to adopt their own bans to ensure consumers are protected. CR warned that recent staff and budget cuts at the agencies could undermine their ability to carry out this effort.

“It’s encouraging to see the FDA working towards a ban on synthetic food dyes, but this multistep plan relies on voluntary industry efforts that will simply prolong the amount of time it will take to get dangerous dyes out of our food,” said Brian Ronholm, director of food policy at Consumer Reports. “We need an enforceable ban on harmful synthetic food dyes. States should continue to act on legislation to remove toxic chemicals and dyes from food. Consumers shouldn’t have to wait and rely on this industry to act voluntarily after years of resistance.”

Nothing is easy. It becomes exhausting, and that is the goal.

I had highlighted a couple of parts, but that didn’t show. The process will be voluntary and will take place over time. States need to pass their own legislation to outlaw the dyes.

Sometimes I want someone to wave a magic wand and make something happen. No ifs, ands, or buts. Just make it happen, and no taking it back later.

After we get to Heaven, that’s exactly how it’s done. 😇

BREAKING: Today the State of Colorado was UNSUCCESSFUL at Dismissing the DOJ Inquiry About Tina Peters

Great news!

The Judge today heard both sides, and instead of ruling in favor of the Deep State as it usually goes in Colorado to silence Tina Peters and her Election Fraud findings, he continued the hearing for about a week in order for both sides to gather and present more succinct evidence for his consideration. At the heart of the hearing today is the following question posed by the DOJ: Was the case “oriented more toward inflicting political pain than toward pursuing actual justice or legitimate governmental objectives.” This is in alignment with Executive Order 14147, Ending the Weaponization of The Federal Government (Jan. 20, 2025).

Next week the DOJ will have the opportunity to present mountains of indisputable proof that the Clerk Peters political persecution had ZERO to do with actual justice or legitimate governmental objectives. During the trial of Tina Peters, the Judge and Prosecutor even went to extraordinary lengths to cover up the exposure of Gerald Wood’s alleged lies while under oath, but too bad for them, the damage was done. The Jury heard evidence which was snuck in via some captured Signal Chats, and they rightfully dismissed the 3 corresponding charges against her relating to that ‘stolen identity’ claim…

Some nice quotes in this one — e.g.

These guys don’t care about classified material. If they did, Hillary Clinton would be in Leavenworth, finally finding someone who loves her.

If you were reading The New York Times this weekend instead of getting right with Jesus, you probably saw that the stupid Signalgate nonsense had been resurrected as well.

Very close to where I was raised. About 40 miles.

The southern half of NJ totally burned in the ’30s. Almost every tree in the Pine Barrens was burned from just south of Trenton all the way to Cape May. I grew up in a forest where every tree was Pitch Pine plus all were the same age and size.
