IMO people are just starting to truly understand intelligence, and thus we’re now becoming aware of the concept of a better definition of superintelligence as combined intelligence which exceeds the intelligence of a single human. Not facetiously, I wish that *mathematicians* were better at math.
There are multiple examples of *thinking* errors in current mathematics – some subtle, some excruciatingly obvious. And these errors, both commissive AND omissive, spill over into science, especially physics.
Steve and I had a few arguments, but they were rather mild. Still, though, one needs BOTH hemispheres of the brain/mind in all intellectual pursuits, left for analysis (destructive, or de-constructive, if you will), and right for creative (constructive).
Pride in ones achievements is one thing, but too much often morphs into dogma, and vanity.
To paraphrase a pithy doggeral, “The scientist spent his whole life trying to reach the mountain’s summit, and at last he got to the top – only to find a group of philosophers already there, who asked, ‘What took you so long?'”
From what I’ve read, scientists now have ignored philosophy, whereas those who came beforehand were deeply committed to engage in philosophical context, to frame the scientific text.
The invocation of God, when treating matters of scientific endeavor, used to be prolific among the greats of yesteryear; today, however, is a very different story, and philosophy and theology have all been cast aside.
The more knowledge that one knows, one should know how LITTLE knowledge one has.
One of the highest IQ mathematician-physicist made an argument that, after I considered it, committed an *egregious* fallacy of logic: I was stunned, and disappointed, that he didn’t allow for omissive error.
The emotions rule; the intellect serves, in most cases. Emotions simply ARE; it takes great effort (and life experience) for the intellect to overrule what one WANTS.

Yeah, me and science are not generally friendly. I loved Geology in college. They called it “Rocks for Jocks,” lol. But I loved it. I think I get it because I can touch it. Rocks are not theoretical, they just “are.”
I’ve always loved rocks, as do many in my family. We have rock collections all over the place. We can get some very interesting specimens in the formerly glaciated Michigan North!
At Legoland they have some (for lack of a better term) animatronic boulders that sing “We will, we will rock you”… 🙂

There was a copy of an old animatronics maintenance manual that I could not let go of from Disney Imagineering.
It was perhaps 2 x 3 inches and I had never seen instruction guides that small. I kept and admired it. I never had a need to build one. LOL I finally gave it to my older brother who was trained in electronics in the Army.
He was of the age of vacuum tubes and solder guns so could relate to these devices and instructions about custom computer boards that might have been repaired with a solder gun.
My brother will appreciate it like I have and who knows, he might pass it to our small town historical society someday. He would make up some funny story, no doubt. 😎

That’s why I don’t know what they’re saying, because I don’t listen to them. But as you say, many do. I do know that I heard part of Shapiro’s speech at the conference, and I agreed with him. But even some of the “bigwig” conservatives like Megyn Kelly came out against him.
TT, I usually vet my influencers over a decade or two. If they are consistent then I will take the time to consider their opinion. But I never forget that I am listening to an opinion. Most of the influencers (my opinion of course) have positions not principles. When circumstances require a new position they will take it. The finger in the wind theory. For this reason, I think that there is no easy method of identifying the core belief that gives a foundation to their opinion. As such I would liken it to the house built on sand instead of rock, as Jesus illustrates in the Sermon on the Mount. I also have positions on subjects that can change with new information but underlying those are certain principles that can only be changed if confronted by overwhelming indisputable evidence. With all that said, my default position is to want to believe that someone has no particular agenda behind their opinions. However, I have found, particularly in politics and social policy, that leads to much disappointment. I take it that it is one of my character flaws about easy trust. Unfortunately experience is often a harsh reminder that I should monitor that flaw aggressively.
When I was very young, I used to think to trust until someone proves you can’t. That is super risky in this world.

But I think the thing that has gotten Tucker where he is now, and that has really antagonized his critics, is the constant use of the term “genocide” about Gaza, while soft-pedaling what happened on October 7 to a somewhat shocking degree.
It’s kind of a reverse symmetry from reality. It would be one thing for Tucker to have skepticism of both sides, but he’s well beyond that.
IMO Tucker’s acceptance of Palestinian propaganda is surprisingly uncritical. He seems to have no idea that Palestinian propaganda is orders of magnitude more deceptive than NATO/EU/Ukraine/Globalist propaganda. I think he assumes that the Palestinians are plucky underdogs who may lie a bit to pad their case, but surely they’re not better at deceiving third parties than the Ukraine side that could never fool Tucker….. right? RIGHT???
The neocons think Tucker is a fool for Putin, but I would say that his critics THERE are even bigger fools against Putin. I would not call Tucker a total fool for the Palestinians, but I don’t think he fully appreciates the skills of Pallywood.

I feel like Tucker is a bit too joyous in finally feeling free to criticize Israel. Like he was afraid to say anything negative about any Jews or anything Israel did, for so long, that now he feels “liberated” to criticize everything.
Both extremes are not merely a bad look – they’re not sufficiently brave to be called real journalism.
Israel obviously has been up to bad stuff, controlling pols using a blackmail op with American teens against American pols. The trouble is (1) that kind of op is a glass house for everybody, so let’s not have a double-standard, and (2) almost everything that is blamed on “the Jews” is something just as easily blamed on “the whoever” (like Catholics and Lutherans on immigration insanity), because it’s typically the LEFT (or the right, sometimes) that is really to blame. I’ve been very critical of the Israeli left for a long time, as well as the American Jewish left. I have never been called an antisemite for speaking CLEARLY on such topics. Make sure you’re not blaming all Jews, or all of Israel, and false accusations of antisemitism simply aren’t there. Yes, people used to call criticism of Soros or globalism “antisemitic”, but LAUGHING BACK at such absurdities shuts that down immediately.
Tucker needs balance. I don’t know if that’s possible – particularly if you’re correct about any sort of life-long Yankee elite antisemitism. But he’s a smart guy, and I think he does do a lot of introspection, and I hope he can self-correct on this stuff.

I just checked the article, Waymo is mentioned 4 times, Tesla is never mentioned.
The press treats Tesla the way they treat Trump. If they can blame Trump or Tesla directly, that’s the play. If they can blame them indirectly or by implication, then that’s the play.
The blackout revealed that Waymo is not truly “full self-driving”, it is relying on some central command center in every city where Waymo operates, and when central HQ went down due to the power outage, all of the Waymo cars stopped.
Teslas are designed to be autonomous. They are just now removing the ‘safety monitors’ (human ride-along observers hired by Tesla) from their RoboTaxis / CyberCabs.
Tesla’s entire fleet is connected globally, a distributed network, so there is no central bottleneck failing point.

So I’m getting in-depth updates on Tesla and related company developments every day.
Tesla was at around $300 per share a couple months ago, it’s now close to $500, and it’s projected by many to be $8,000 per share by 2030. That’s a 16x in 5 years or less. Some estimates are as much as $16,000 per share by 2030 – 2032 timeframe.
It’s going exponential because there is no credible competition in many of the businesses Elon has created, and where there is competition, he is multiple years ahead, meaning he will capture the majority of the markets he is targeting with first-mover advantage.
So I bought some Tesla shares a while back, not long ago (September, I think) and not nearly enough, so hopefully I will be able to add more if there is any kind of major pull-back in the stock price. I’m not getting royalty checks, but I am onboard for the ride, got my ticket practically as it was pulling out of the station 😁
There is so much going on with Tesla it’s hard to even keep track — and I’m following developments daily. Along with SpaceX, Starlink, XAi, the Boring Company and the other businesses Elon owns, which are all synergistic.
They have the battery business, both for their EVs and even more, for utility company back-up power and electrical grid stabilization, with customers world-wide.
They have the EV business, with factories in the U.S., Germany and chyna.
SpaceX is going public (IPO) probably in June 2026 on Elon’s birthday. It will make him the first trillionaire. He is making arrangements for Tesla shareholders to have access to the SpaceX IPO, setting aside some amount of SpaceX shares for retail Tesla stock owners, because he knows retail investors are his biggest supporters, while Wall Street hates him.
SpaceX has the only proven reusable rocket platform, which will be used to not only go to the Moon and then Mars, but to put A.I. data centers in space, and to continue putting up Starlink satellites, which will be used for his new global cellular and Internet service. AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and the others are going to be toast.
And that doesn’t even count the Optimus Robot, or the Cybercab business, both of which rely on the same X-Ai / Grok.
Cyber-Cabs are going to put Uber and Waymo and legacy Taxi and car rental companies out of business. Tesla is going to take all of it, because they can still make a profit while charging around 25 cents per mile, and nobody else can turn a profit anywhere near that price.
It’s all integrated, he already has the manufacturing facilities to manufacture at scale, and his is one of the only companies with real world applications for A.I. that are already successful and in the marketplace.
And he’s friends with the POTUS.
His companies are sitting on tons of cash, and SpaceX, of which he owns a majority, was valued at $400 billion a few months ago. Recently repriced at $800 billion.
The IPO in June 2026 is currently expected to be valued at $1.5 trillion, the largest IPO in history, by far, and it is likely to be oversubscribed, so it could easily IPO at $2 trillion.
And most of the money raised at the public offering gets ploughed right back into his businesses, in amounts that not even cash cows like Google can compete with.

I loved that musical, having been a musician in a local production of it; it was clever, pretty accurate for a musical, and the performers were brilliant. “Molasses, To Rum, To Slaves” still rings through my head after 50 years… and it was quite a shock the first time I heard it in rehearsal… the beautiful correspondence and interplay between Adams and his wife was also touching, e.g. “Yours, Yours, Yours”…

Lawrence, Massachusetts, Mayor Brian DePena appeared in court on Friday, where he required a translator to participate in proceedings at a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission proceeding on Friday.
The hearing concerned former Lawrence Police Chief William Castro, a political ally of DePena, who was stripped of his policing credentials following an improper police chase. Castro was accused of driving the wrong way down a city street during the chase and filing a false police report, claiming he was responding to an armed bank robbery when he had actually been responding to someone attempting to cash a bad check.
DePena testified on Castro’s behalf during the commission proceeding, but it was the mayor’s request to use a translator that drew significant attention.
According to Mass Daily News, the presiding judge declined to allow DePena’s personal assistant to serve as the translator, citing concerns that anything interpreted privately could not be independently verified. Since neither the judge nor the opposing counsel speaks Spanish, concerns were raised that mistranslations could affect testimony and thus influence responses or distort the official court record.
The incident sparked criticism online, with many arguing that elected officials should be able to communicate directly in English during proceedings that pertain to their office. Massachusetts does not currently require elected officials to speak fluent English.
DePena is a native of the Dominican Republic and immigrated to New York in the early 1980s before settling in Lawrence in 1989. Over 80 percent of the city’s population is now Hispanic, according to the US Census.

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

Yesterday, Cynical Publius, who I usually agree with, went on an X rampage about people who are so-called “heritage Americans.” He was furiously stating that there is no difference between a committed-to-America recent immigrant, and someone whose family arrived on the Mayflower or at Jamestown.
But I think there is a difference, and I had to think about it hard for a while to figure it out. I think I boiled it down to a few things:
1) There was never any discussion of or reference to the “Old Country.” There was nowhere except America
2) There was never any “ethnic food” at Grandma’s, no unusual “tradition” brought over from somewhere else. It was Americana. Baseball, apple pie, Brunswick stew (you may have to Google that one), etc.
3) There was no one in my family ever who spoke a foreign language, or with a foreign accent
4) There was no “nostalgia” for any land anywhere except American land. People are by nature nostalgic. We assign happy memories to prior experience, especially when current things are hard. But there was nowhere else to assign happy times to in my family except here
I don’t think we should ever minimize people or elevate people based on the length of time their family has been in America, but I do think we have to acknowledge there is a difference, otherwise we can’t assist people in assimilating. I think that’s partly where we have gone awry in the last 50-75 years. We deny that there is an “American identity,” but there truly is.
It eventually was revealed that Cynical Publius had a bad experience when he was young with a lady who put him down for being “recent.” So it was personal for CP.

I agree with you. I think it’s common sense. The environment we grow up in, and the things that are familiar to us, stay with us throughout our lifetimes. People are loyal to varying degrees to those things.
I know it is possible for immigrants to come here, assimilate, agree with our founding principles, and love this country. From what I have seen here, I believe singingsoul is one of them. But they do that on an individual basis, not as migrants who are part of a group. Each person makes those decisions for him- or herself.
I think a number of immigrants who have enclaves within cities have beliefs that align with the Democrat Party. They see how much better their lives are in America, but they don’t understand the bigger picture of why that is and how to preserve it; and that’s a problem.
I wonder in what way Cynical Publius is “recent”; i.e., where he came from and how long ago.

Which seems pretty long ago, except it isn’t really. For example, use me. I am 61 years old. I knew my great-grandparents until I was 12-13. They were both born in 1896. Had they been immigrants as children, they would have been the kind of influence I wrote about above, until I hit puberty.
Irish and Italian immigrants came here in the 1880-1890s with children. There are “Little Italy” and Irish Catholic neighborhoods all over East Coast cities, where the cultures of those countries were practiced. Still are.
Long time Americans are just different. As a genealogist and student of American history, I think the cultural “cut off” is around 1850. People whose ancestors got here post Civil War are different. They just are. The “Ellis Island” experience made for a different kind of immigrant.
Maybe but it probably depends on the family culture too.
My dad’s surname traces back to the early 1600s in America. His dad’s mom’s family were French Canadians only in America, US, a couple generations, like mid 1800s before GPa was born in 1902. These were farming families from mid Michigan but GGP left the farm about age 12 to make his way in lumbering in MI’s beautiful North Woods, which led him to Detroit as the lumber yard foreman, a job he worked well into his retirement years. Both his mom’s parents were born to recent British Isles immigrants around 1880 & that side of the family was very involved in the Michigan Central Railroad. Both mom’s adoptive parents were born in the first decade of the 1900s to Finnish immigrants in Michigan’s UP small towns & GMa & GPa did speak some archaic Finnish a bit in their home. GMa did cook a handful of Finnish dishes & made Finnish wines Cherry Herring & Keyafah (sp?) but as my parents were teetotalers then we didn’t get to partake of that part of our heritage.
I grew up knowing a handful of Finnish words, including SISU 🙂 but that was about the extent of the Finnish influence on my generation.
When I discovered my mom was adopted I eventually went looking for birth family info. Her birth mom’s dad was the son of German immigrants who came to America in the 1840s but her mom was descended from 1600s East Coast Americans. Her birth dad’s father’s line were Germanic farming people from PA & OH for several generations back possibly connected to Amish &/or Mennonite groups based on names & locales but I haven’t done enough research on them or his mom’s line to know for sure.
My husband has a complex ancestral background including people who were here before the Revolution, some even owned one of the NY Islands near NYC, & sided with the Brits so fled to Canadia as United Empire Loyalists. Some of Hubby’s ancestors were here in the early 1800s but born in Ireland. Some on both sides of his family migrated from the East & the North to Colorado for their health, like TB issues, from the early mid 1800s through the 1930s.
Anyway much of our complex ancestral history I only discovered by getting into genealogy to look into Mom’s familial background. We have virtually no ethnic awareness nor traditions. We were both raised as basically Americans & that’s also how we raised our kids. Our “old country” roots, as they get discovered, are just interesting curiosities not formative knowledge.
I met a “fresh off the boat” Vietnamese “refugee” back when I worked the Food Stamp program in OK. Interestingly the translator ended up being Hubby’s ex girlfriend’s BIL. Anyway this middle aged man was So Thankful to be in America that he was practically kissing my hands as I worked to set him up w/ temporary “free food”. He had been in the military & was being hunted by the North Vietnamese, iirc, & escaped in a coffin sized conveyance. He was Beyond Overjoyed to be in America & seemed to look at us as his saviors. Though how much he might assimilate at his age & with a pretty large Vietnamese community to disappear into is debatable, I Highly Doubt he, or people like him, would be coming here to do us harm. They were enjoying our freedoms & Working Very Hard to create their versions of the American Dream 🙂

The Zodiac killer hinted that the Z13 cipher he sent in April 1970 contained his true name. Baber, the co-founder of Cold Case Consultants of America, claims he has finally cracked it using AI, newly released Census records and classic cryptography.
His solution revealed the name of a man who was also a prime suspect in Short’s murder.
He has also decrypted the Zodiac’s Z32 cipher, finding a solution that links to the murder of the Black Dahlia.
And through his years-long investigation – including exhaustive reviews of law enforcement files, court documents and public records – Baber has uncovered a trove of circumstantial evidence that he believes proves that the same man carried out both barbaric crimes.
A man who had the medical experience to mutilate Short’s body with chilling precision and had been in a relationship with her in the months before she died.
A man with ties to military code-breaking, who returned from the Second World War with a bayonet matching the weapon used in one of the Zodiac’s attacks.
A man who left behind a deathbed confession that could connect the two cases.

In 1950, Marvin and Edith were living in Cook County, IL. They had a one year old son, Kenneth. So the article you posted is correct, that they left CA in the wake of the Black Dahlia murder.
