Faith is the Victory
The apostle Paul exhorts Christians to “walk by faith and not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7, ESV). What we see here is a contrast between truth and perception—what we know and believe to be true and what we perceive to be true. This is where the Christian struggle with a lack of faith finds its basis. The main reason why so many Christians struggle with a lack of faith is that we follow our perceptions of what is true rather than what we know to be true by faith.
Perhaps before going any further it may be helpful to come up with a working definition of faith. Faith, contrary to popular opinion, is not “belief without proof.” This is the definition that many skeptics give for faith. This definition reduces faith to mere fideism—i.e., “I believe despite what the evidence tells me.” Skeptics are right to reject this concept of faith, and Christians should reject it, too. Faith is not belief without proof or belief despite the evidence; rather, faith is a complete trust or confidence in someone or something. That trust or confidence we have in someone is built up over time as he proves himself faithful time and time again.
Christianity is a faith-based religion. It is based on faith in God and in His Son, Jesus Christ. God has provided us with His Word, the Holy Bible, as a testimony of His faithfulness to His people all throughout history. In its bare essentials, Christianity is faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ claimed to be the promised Messiah and the Son of God. His life was one of perfect righteousness according to the revealed Law of God, His death was an atoning sacrifice for the sins of His people, and He was raised to life three days after His death. When we place our faith and trust in Christ alone for our salvation, God takes our sin and places it on the cross of Christ and awards us, by grace, with the perfect righteousness of Christ. That, in a nutshell, is the Christian message. As Christians, we are called to believe this message and live in light of it.
Despite this, Christians still struggle with believing the biblical account because it doesn’t match up with our perception of reality. We may believe that Jesus was a real person, we may believe that He died by crucifixion at the hand of the Romans, we may even believe that He led a perfect life according to God’s Law, but we don’t “see” how faith in Christ makes us righteous before God. We can’t “see” Jesus atoning for our sins. We can’t “see” or “perceive” any of the great truths of Christianity, and, therefore, we struggle with lack of faith. As a result of this lack of perception, our lives often do not reflect the fact that we really believe what we claim to believe.
There are many reasons for this phenomenon among Christians. The main reason we struggle with faith is that we don’t truly know the God in whom we profess to have faith. In our daily lives, we don’t trust complete strangers. The more intimately we know someone and the more time we have had to see him “in action,” the more likely we are to believe what he says. But, if God is essentially a stranger to us, we are less likely to believe what He has said in His Word. The only cure for this is to spend more time in God’s Word getting to know Him.
The world, the flesh, and the devil often distract us. By “the world” is meant the accepted “wisdom” of the unbelieving world and the culture in which we find ourselves. For those of us living in Europe and North America, that dominant worldview is naturalism, materialism, skepticism, and atheism. “The flesh,” refers to our sinful nature that still clings to Christians and with which we struggle on a daily basis. “The devil” refers to Satan and his horde of evil spirits who excite and entice us through the world and our senses. These things all afflict us and cause us to struggle with faith.
That is why Christians need to be constantly reminded of what Christ has done for us and what our response should be. The apostle Paul says, “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17, ESV). Our faith is built up as we have the gospel continually preached to us. Our churches need to be built on the solid preaching of the Word and the regular observance of the ordinances. Instead, too many churches spend their time, energy, and resources on the creation of “programs” that neither feed the sheep nor draw a clear distinction between godliness and ungodliness.
Consider the example of the Israelites in the Old Testament. God had performed great miracles in rescuing His chosen people from slavery in Egypt—the Ten Plagues, the pillar of smoke and fire, and the crossing of the Red Sea. God brings His people to the foot of Mount Sinai, gives them the Law and makes a covenant with them. No sooner does He do this than the people begin to grumble and lose faith. With Moses gone up on the mountain, the people convince Aaron, Moses’ brother, to construct an idol (against God’s clear prohibition) for them to worship (Exodus 32:1–6). They were no longer walking by faith, but by sight. Despite all the clear miracles God did in their redemption, they lost faith and began to go on their perception.
That is why God instructed the new generation of Israelites before going into the Promised Land to continually remind themselves of what God had done for them: “And these words that I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise” (Deuteronomy 6:6–7, ESV). God knows that the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak (Mark 14:38), and so He commands His people to be in constant remembrance of these things.
In conclusion, we need to heed the example of the disciple Thomas. When Thomas heard the stories of the resurrection, he wouldn’t believe them until he saw Jesus with his own two eyes. Jesus accommodated Thomas’ lack of faith by making an appearance to him and allowing him to see and touch Him. Thomas responds in worship, and Jesus says to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29, ESV). Many skeptics today echo Thomas’ sentiment: “Unless I see Jesus face to face, I will not believe!” We must not behave as the unbelievers do. We need to continually keep in mind Paul’s exhortation to walk by faith rather than sight. We learn in the book of Hebrews that without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6) because faith is believing the Word of God and acting upon it, not responding to our perceptions.

I should note that they’re talking about open-source AI models, not FOSS…..and, even then, the cat is out of the bag.

There are a number of ways to look at the subject.
Let’s try an easy one — a Large Language Model (LLM) plays little games to seem intelligent that are largely built around “training information” that has been loaded into the model.
Accordingly, entities that have large amounts of such information have an advantage in creating useful models. *cough* Google *cough*
To a lesser extent, entities such as Meta, Yahoo, Amazon, and Microsoft can tap into such large accumulations of “training information”. Heaven help us, the Internet Archive could be tempted by the immense amounts of money involved.
And then we have to consider the NSA and IRS — after all, the data is just sitting there.
One problem is that AI is very prone to smelling their own farts — if you load “training data” that is “conclusions” from other AI, your AI tends to spiral out to Fantasyland.
That said, there are LLMs in the public domain. You could load one with all available information about Corvette parts (which you’d probably get mostly from Scott) and have an amazing tool. Wouldn’t help you much for Novas, but still….
That’s what this group is talking about at 30:12. They’re talking about regulation of LLMs by public companies with wide scoops of public training information being regulated (since they’re hoovering up huge swaths of information largely collected under false pretenses…..) and comparing it to LLMs built by hobbyists from much smaller sets of training info.

I am breaking toward the mentioned idea of industry self-management through an internal org, because that has actually worked very nicely in the flavor and fragrance sector of the chemical industry with an organization called IFRA. It was when the EU government tried to grab higher control from IFRA, that self-defeating behaviors appeared in that sector. IMO industry self-policing can work, if it’s respected by .gov entities.
The fact that Anthropic drove the orgy of angst over AI – wow. IMO it was subconsciously a scumbag move to lock in their own presence in a volatile industry that they fear could zero them out at any time. Bad faith player! No wonder DOD was smelling a rat!

cloudy skies this morning allowed me to “enjoy” (SHIVER) watching 3 bats go about their business. sky was gray and it was just light enough to see them leave from the peak of the deck, fly out into the yard and swoop back, over and over, they’d rest a moment it seemed sometimes and then they be out again. From my vantage point (safely inside) I could clearly see them when they returned.
hubby went out on the deck to see if they were somehow getting into the roof or ridgeline but he couldn’t tell…and his presence caused the hummers to start buzzing about looking for their feeders, so I put them out…bravely I might add. (My bravery has been spent for the day…I hope I don’t see a spider!)
Those bats were busy scooping up breakfast (Insects) I always enjoy watching them. AND BE HAPPY! The are working AGAINST BILL GATES and his use of insect vectors for vaccines!
I was at a BBQ one evening and there was a Little Brown (bat) zipping back and forth above the head of the lady I was talking to. It was about a foot above her head and eating all the mosquitoes she was attracting. I finally told her about her ‘guardian’ and she freaked.

LOL…our bats preferred OUR house to the bat house we bought and installed–they never went inside it. we finally took it down. They had managed to get inside the house 3 times before–I have a small net for catching them when they do –hubby uses it, I hide!
admittedly the cathedral peak on the front of the house with the roofed deck does resemble a cave I imagine, but they still freak me out.
We had them in the roof–we could hear them scratching as they moved around and a guy came and removed them (not kill them) and sealed the area they were apparently getting in.
And i know they are beneficial and we wouldn’t kill them, but dang–they still freak me out!
Try crawling down a small tunnel (cave) and coming nose to nose with one.
Actually that poor bat was very irate about getting brushed off the ceiling.

Have you ever heard of the EB-5 Visa……USCIS administers the EB-5 Program. Under this program, investors (and their spouses and unmarried children under 21) are eligible to apply for lawful permanent residence (become a Green Card holder) if they: Make the necessary investment in a commercial enterprise in the United States; and Plan to create or preserve 10 permanent full-time jobs for qualified U.S. workers. The Chinese company is just setting the paperwork up…. they are lining up Chinese people who are willing to invest with them, in oder to get an American Green Card (i.e. legal American immigration residence, free Supplemental Social Security and Free Medicaid)…..of course the investors will get subsidized utilities, but they have to pay property tax and condo fees.

A theater in downtown Denver has defaulted on its $400,000 taxpayer-backed loan without opening for a single show. The loan included $52,000 earmarked for rent, yet the theater was evicted because it paid only one month of rent, according to records obtained by 9NEWS.
Key facts: Playwrights Blair Russell and Steve Wargo received the 3% interest, 13-year loan to open the Denver Immersive Repertory Theater. The city described it as the “world’s first resident immersive, theatrical production studio and venue,” in which audience members would be part of the plays.
The money was part of $100 million in loans announced in July 2025 by the Denver Downtown Development Authority, funded by sales and property taxes generated from other downtown businesses.
The playwrights received the entire $400,000 this February and pledged to use it for rent in March, April and May. But landlord Fred Glick evicted them in June, telling 9NEWS he only received rent for one month.
The playwrights also hired Beaver Construction Consulting to renovate a former Patagonia store into a 200-seat venue at a cost of $2 million. Construction stopped midway through. Beaver Construction sued in June, alleging they were not paid for $269,000 of work, the Denver Post reported. The construction company dropped the lawsuit in July.
The City of Denver demanded the playwrights produce documentation by Aug. 7 showing how they spent their loan, but the deadline passed without any response. It’s unclear how the city will proceed.
Doug Tisdale, chair of the Denver Downtown Development Authority, told 9NEWS the agency had never experienced such a mysterious default. The agency had previously disbursed $250 million in loans. He said going forward, the agency will reimburse loan recipients for business expenses instead of issuing loans as a lump sum in advance.
Summary: While not all taxpayer-backed loans default, the process still forces the public to assume risks that no privately-owned bank ordinarily would.

COMMENTARY FOR MATTHEW 20
The parable of the labourers in the vineyard. (1-16) Jesus again foretells his sufferings. (17-19) The ambition of James and John. (20-28) Jesus gives sight to two blind men near Jericho. (29-34)
1-16 The direct object of this parable seems to be, to show that though the Jews were first called into the vineyard, at length the gospel should be preached to the Gentiles, and they should be admitted to equal privileges and advantages with the Jews. The parable may also be applied more generally, and shows, 1. That God is debtor to no man. 2. That many who begin last, and promise little in religion, sometimes, by the blessing of God, arrive at a great deal of knowledge, grace, and usefulness. 3. That the recompense of reward will be given to the saints, but not according to the time of their conversion. It describes the state of the visible church, and explains the declaration that the last shall be first, and the first last, in its various references. Till we are hired into the service of God, we are standing all the day idle: a sinful state, though a state of drudgery to Satan, may be called a state of idleness. The market-place is the world, and from that we are called by the gospel. Come, come from this market-place. Work for God will not admit of trifling. A man may go idle to hell, but he that will go to heaven, must be diligent. The Roman penny was sevenpence halfpenny in our money, wages then enough for the day’s support. This does not prove that the reward of our obedience to God is of works, or of debt; when we have done all, we are unprofitable servants; but it signifies that there is a reward set before us, yet let none, upon this presumption, put off repentance till they are old. Some were sent into the vineyard at the eleventh hour; but nobody had hired them before. The Gentiles came in at the eleventh hour; the gospel had not been before preached to them. Those that have had gospel offers made them at the third or sixth hour, and have refused them, will not have to say at the eleventh hour, as these had, No man has hired us. Therefore, not to discourage any, but to awaken all, be it remembered, that now is the accepted time. The riches of Divine grace are loudly murmured at, among proud Pharisees and nominal Christians. There is great proneness in us to think that we have too little, and others too much of the tokens of God’s favour; and that we do too much, and others too little in the work of God. But if God gives grace to others, it is kindness to them, and no injustice to us. Carnal worldlings agree with God for their penny in this world; and choose their portion in this life. Obedient believers agree with God for their penny in the other world, and must remember they have so agreed. Didst not thou agree to take up with heaven as thy portion, thy all; wilt thou seek for happiness in the creature? God punishes none more than they deserve, and recompenses every service done for him; he therefore does no wrong to any, by showing extraordinary grace to some. See here the nature of envy. It is an evil eye, which is displeased at the good of others, and desires their hurt. It is a grief to ourselves, displeasing to God, and hurtful to our neighbours: it is a sin that has neither pleasure, profit, nor honour. Let us forego every proud claim, and seek for salvation as a free gift. Let us never envy or grudge, but rejoice and praise God for his mercy to others as well as to ourselves…

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

The Bright Side
There is much to be said about where our attitude leads us. We’ve all faced situations we thought could bury us. The loss of a loved one, a sickness, an injury, the loss of a job, someone walks out on us. Running a business has certainly had its ups and downs. Landing jobs, losing jobs, gaining customers, losing customers, employees come and employees go. If I believed every negative change would have buried me I would have been out of business decades ago.
When the going gets tough the tough gets going. If we think positive, some of our toughest times made us resilient, more committed, it helped to make us who we are today. If we get bitter and lose our enthusiasm we will allow the difficulties of life to bury us, they can keep us from our God given destiny.
Find the positive message in every event instead of always seeing the negative. Shake off the dirt and step up. The difference between being buried or being planted is like the magic in a seed. A seed can sit comfortably on a shelf for years and never reach its full potential. If you were able to ask the seed what it would prefer, it would probably choose to be left alone, I’m fine here on the shelf. But when the seed is planted, covered with dirt, in that dark and lonely place, it begins to germinate. The pressure of all that heavy dirt doesn’t stop that seed from growing. It pushes itself out of the ground and starts producing beautiful flowers or fruit. Notice when you plant a seed it doesn’t come up and just give you another seed. It doesn’t come up equal. It grows into a beautiful producing plant. Much like a plant, a person, with all of the pressures of life, blossoms into just what God had meant us to be. The pressures of life are not an end, but are a beginning.
I heard this story of a farmer who had an old mule that had fallen into an empty well, the well was about 40 or 50 feet deep. The farmer was so disappointed he really loved that old mule. When he surveyed the situation he realized it was almost impossible to rescue him. The well was very narrow and the mule was crammed at the bottom. He figured the mule was probably already seriously injured.
As much as he didn’t want to he decided the mule nor the well was worth saving so he was just going to fill the well in with dirt and bury the old mule. He called some friends to help and they began to shovel the dirt in, one shovel at a time.
When that old mule felt that dirt hit his back he realized what they were doing. Instead of wallowing in self pity, thinking to bad for me, the mule decided every time he felt the dirt hit his back he would shake it off and step up, shake it off and step up. Time after time no matter how he felt, no matter how tired he got he’d shake it off and step up, shake it off and step up. Finally after hours of doing this he was able to step over the wall of the well and walk out triumphantly to freedom.
What’s interesting is the dirt that was meant to bury him actually saved his life. So when you feel the dirt hit your back, when life treats you unfair, when you go through disappointment, don’t let it bury you, shake it off and step up. The same dirt that’s trying to bury you can be the very dirt God will use to promote you. Your attitude should be I may be down but I’m not staying down. This difficulty may have been meant to destroy me, it may have been meant to harm me but I know better, God’s going to use it to my advantage. He’s going to use it to increase me.
Know the only difference between a hard rock of carbon and a priceless diamond is the amount of pressure that it’s endured. How we handle adversity can make or break us. Keep pressing forward with a smile on your face. You know that God is in complete control. So do the right thing even though the wrong thing is happening. Instead of complaining declare a victory. This problem didn’t come to stay it came to pass. I have all the strength for everything I need. When you do that the seed of victory will begin to release and you will blossom into the fullness of what God made you to be.

Doing better. All OK with no bowel obstruction. Pantoprazole is keep acid pain in the stomach well in check. I’m starting a wide and varied exercise program but not very robustly yet. And ultrasound shows I’ve got a new aneurysm behind my right knee in my popliteal artery at 2.3cm diameter size, with aneurysms of 2.0cm or larger diameter being the size where corrective vascular surgery is required. I’m in the process of scheduling a CAT arteriogram to get the finer details on this one and to look for others. 50% of the people who have a popliteal aneurysm in one leg will have another in the other leg. So, fun and games continue.

According to the report, the meeting occurred in New York City and covered a wide range of issues.
Jeffries is widely seen to be the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority of the chamber in the November election.
