Ambassador Stevens was sent to Benghazi to secretly retrieve US made Stinger Missiles that the State Dept had supplied to Ansar al Sharia in Libya WITHOUT Congressional oversight or permission.

It was the State Dept, NOT the CIA, that supplied the Stinger Missiles to our sworn enemies because Gen. Petraeus at CIA would not approve supplying the deadly missiles due to their potential use against commercial aircraft.
So then, Obama threw Gen. Petraeus under the bus when he refused to testify in support of Obama’s phony claim of a “spontaneous uprising caused by a YouTube video that insulted Muslims.”

Yesterday Steve Watson at Modernity News reported that Albany United School District, which is in the Oakland area, recently took a bunch of high school students on a very spendy and very exclusive “social justice” field trip across the country—so exclusive in fact that the white kids were barred from joining in, as this was only for “young men and women of color.”
What does it even mean to be “of color”? Of course we all know that it means black and brown people, but ironically, “white” people offer the most color in terms of physical attributes, with all different hair and eye colors. On the other hand, essentially all black and brown people have black and brown hair, and brown eyes. Are we whites still not on the spectrum of color? As a “white” person, I’m not actually the color of a piece of paper—my skin is naturally a light tan, my hair a dark blonde, and my eyes green. Now we’re back to excluding people from society based on immutable physical traits?
Anyway, according to Watson, the field trip, which “was officially approved by the board of education,” included tours of Historically Black Colleges and Universities on the East coast, visits to “civil rights sites,” and “discussions on social justice, leadership, and self-awareness.” Oh, and it cost the district, or more accurately the taxpayers, more than $40,000. Let’s not forget that whites are the only racial group that actually contribute more in taxes than they take in. And, consider that if or when these impoverished kids from Oakland do go to college, since it’s de facto considered a “right” by the federal government, the taxpayers will no doubt be paying for those “educations” as well. All so they can be even more indoctrinated to view white people as oppressors and less than.
I thought the left said segregation was bad? Isn’t that what they’ve been harping on for decades? One of the main reasons why they say blacks are owed reparations? Didn’t they rail against the “separate but equal” idea? Then they go and do this? Separate but unequal?
And, here’s where things get very ironic: Under previous eras of segregation, blacks did better academically than they do now. Why? Because white schools were taught in the Western canon (and by virtue of the curriculum, excelling), and black schools wanted to prove (and did prove) that they could compete and do just as well. Leave it up to the progressives of California to not only resurrect the very policies they insist define America as a “racist” nation, but do so in a way that’s actually worse for everyone involved.

Yup – obviously I am one of those. All I had to do was look at the Helene storm track and “recon” flight concentrations in Meh-i-co airspace where it sat and churned over several days to know what was up. Then when this major hurricane did not seek warm, humid open waters 300 miles from landfall in the normal, oft repeated path and instead turned inward toward the mountains and interior land while dumping two feet of rain in less than 48 hours over same – well it does not take a genius to see it was an engineered event.
It is amazing how blue the skies are and how crisp the air is in east TN now with the ban. No chemtrails for going on two years. Do see short contrails on occasion. They dissipate in short order. One of the “advantages” of living 15 aeronautical miles away from a major airport with an Air National Guard base while not being under the regular flight patterns is the ability to easily observe it all.

I understand where he’s coming from. I also think that the “conservative” justices are not necessarily always voting according to ideology. My impression is that they are parsing the law because that is their job, and that they are thinking much like a libertarian whose “principles” have disastrous results.
When PDJT first expressed this criticism (maybe at the SOTU address? I could be mistaken about that), Amy Coney Barrett looked very disturbed, as if she thought he was expecting partisanship from them.
I don’t know what effect, if any, these criticisms will have on their decisions, or what Pres. Trump thinks he is accomplishing or if he thinks this could sway their deliberative process. Maybe he hopes that, having made one bad decision on tariffs, they will make up for it by ruling correctly on birthright citizenship. I hope that his speaking up doesn’t cause them to dig in their heels. They are supposed to be impartial but are only human.

Here are obstacles that I’ve observed, as a lay person, that stand in the way of getting to the decisions we need: If there is an indication that a case was filed improperly, or that it *should* go back to a lower court, or if there is no standing, or whatever…
The legal complications are legion. We look at it and say, “Here’s what the Constitution meant, and it should be simple.” And maybe it should, but so often, that’s not how it works.

i thought one perspective was the 14th amendment itself uses the word RESIDE and clearly “birthright tourism” is not residence. how that comes about in a lawsuit i wouldn’t know.

Wong Kim Ark was issued in 1898, long after the 14th was enacted. It used the word ‘domicile’ [which is one of my favorite legal words] many times. So the opinion that comes will have to deal with ‘residence’ as having been modified by ‘domicile’ as stated in Ark.
The Petitioners Brief lays out the law [and the case] quite well. Sauer uses the devils advocate technique quite effectively all through the brief for each critical point he wants SCOTUS to side with him. He sees domicile as a major point in the overall analysis of the case, as do I.

The proper use of language / words is of paramount importance.
The word “residence” (and/or “reside”) may not denote legally what most people believe it does, in the vernacular.
A new doctor working in a hospital usually has to go through “residency” for a few years. Does that mean that he/she LIVES there? Of course not!
It may be that the strict legal word for where one lives could be a “home,” or a “domicile,” whereas a ‘residence” proper is about employment.
I came across this tidbit only once, but it piqued my interest vis-a-vis the nuances between legal v. popular definitions of words.
I wish I’d copied the explanation, and/or its link. Still, though, one ought to be wary of equivocation (where one uses a term that another party translates differently). When I took logic, the estimate was that 90% of arguments between people are due to equivocation (‘lost in translation’).
For example, when a judge asks the defendant, “Do you understand the charges brought against you?”, the vast majority of the accused believe that the word ‘understand’ is to perceive what the charges are.
But the judge, using the semi-antiquated definition, means “Do you *stand under* the charges,” to acquiesce to the authority of the judge.
It seems to me that the judicial lexicon can be, and often is, very different than the normal lexicon.

If one desires to have SCOTUS review a dispute, it must be one that pits two different interpretations of the constitution against each other [often called a circuit split] AND NO LEGAL ERRORS. Keeping in mind that there can be legal errors below but none of them can ‘fix’ the result AND none of them are in the petition for cert. In this instance, Kurt is correct.
As a paralegal, I had the benefit of doing lots of reading which provided lots of law practice gems. One that is appropriate here is – ‘the time to start preparing an appeal is when you’re composing the complaint’.
IOW, there’s no substitute for planning the case thoroughly from the start before building the case. Everything else is created from start to finish and only then is the assembly line turned on. Attorneys are NOT arguing their own cases – they are arguing the clients’ cases.
Judges [and justices] are similar. They might know how the decision [opinion] is likely to turn out upon their first look at the briefs [starting with the petition for cert] but the review is in multiple stages and re-looking.
Slickster failed to mention one thing that most media missed as well – the technique called devil’s advocate. An attorney will argue from the adversary’s position to see how strongly the petitioner will respond from his/her own position.
Some judges do this during oral argument [often called a live court or a live bench]. SCOTUS has no repeat meeting with the case – they have to get all necessary info this time. So you will see this in SCOTUS oral argument often where the justices have to behave a little like attorneys in order to gather needed facts that are not in the briefs.
That is much more likely IMO to be what was seen in the citizenship oral argument than anything else. Especially when two or three justices ‘gang up’ on an attorney and ‘tag team’ him/her.
