Why is America so unaffordable today?
There are a lot of reports today on affordability as the media campaigns for Democrats to take control of the House and Senate this November. Many of the reports talk about how much things cost today versus 2020, while intentionally neglecting to report how much of the unaffordability occurred during the four years of Biden and the Democrats imposing unaffordable policies.
On Wednesday, USA Today ran an article about housing. The headline, “Why so many Americans can’t afford housing anymore,” certainly implies that housing has become unaffordable under Trump, which is intentionally false.
But look at these four bullet points from the article. Three of them are related to housing and renting costs during 2024, the last year of Biden.
- Only 1.1 million new households were formed in 2025 – a number roughly in line with the depths of the Great Recession over a decade ago – as student debt, a weaker job market, and anemic consumer sentiment made Americans wary of striking out on their own.
- Similarly, only 11.2% of Americans relocated in 2024, an all-time low.
- As of 2024, 20.7 million homeowner households (24% of the total) spent more than 30% of their income on housing expenses; 9.6 million spent more than half their income.
- Renters may have it worse: roughly half of all households that rent, or 22.7 million, were cost burdened as of 2024, including 12.1 million that were severely burdened.
So why doesn’t the media report these easily obtained facts from Google AI about prices during the Biden years and so far during Trump?
- Average cost of existing house Dec 2020: $309,800.
- Average cost of existing house Dec 2024: $404,400, up 30% in Biden’s four years.
- Average cost of existing house April 2026: $414,000, up less than 3% in 16 months, or lower than inflation and wage increases.
- Median rent cost December 2020: $1,100 per month.
- Median rent cost December 2024: $1,695 per month, up 54% in four years.
- Median rent cost April 2026: $1,510 to $1,673 per month, or down while Trump is in office.
The reason the media rarely tells the truth about who caused housing unaffordability is the same reason they don’t tell the truth about how Obamacare made health care so much more expensive (and unaffordable).
Biden’s energy, immigration, and regulatory policies are what has made things so unaffordable today, not Trump. Trump is trying to fix the problems, but that takes time.
The media hasn’t cared about facts for a long time, only power for Democrats and the destruction of Trump.

That’s why I continue to say we cannot shirk from our duties as patriotic citizens in local and state elections. If we do the void is filled by bad people who want to undermine our way of life and republic.
It starts right where we all live. I live in the free state of Tennessee. We have other QTreepers on here who live in the slave sates of California and New York. Tennessee was not a free state until 15-20 years ago. We had to go to work in all areas of the state at the local level and then send people to the state level that would do the right things no matter the pressure.
There are many more free states now. We need to pick up steam in all of the swing states and totally undermine the blue states economically and spiritually to finish the job. Our churches need to planting new churches in the blue states by the thousands.

My wonderful mother-in-law loved her doctors. She took whatever they said to take and that included flu shots and pneumococcal. She had 10 years of dementia before her death. It was cruel and sickening.
Wifey and I stopped the flu shots long ago, I had a peneumococcal with no repercussions.
Well that’s very interesting. Not the Covid vaccine but all the regular adult ones. I have been reading about links between the Covid virus and dementia.
A couple months after my mother had a head-related surgery she began experiencing strange cognitive symptoms. Called her neurosurgeon and he said bring her in thinking it was a complication of the surgery.
Head scan showed all was fine but she did test positive for Covid. No other symptoms than the cognitive ones. That was almost 3 years ago. Since then testing has not shown anything like Alzheimer’s or vascular dementia, but she’s never been the same. Some functions have deteriorated while others have actually improved. It’s not normal dementia.
A web search shows many articles stating the association between a Covid infection and the onset of dementia especially in older females. Not clear to me if these older females were also vaccinated. All the people I know 60’s and up follow the “elderly immunization schedule”.

I didn’t realize one could have such advanced Alzheimer’s for so long.
In my first year in the dorms at the University of Casual Sun-Bathing, one guy down the hall was putting himself through an EE degree by dealing. He used to let me keep my beer in his fridge, but I’d always have to dig it out from the piles of baggies he had there, including ‘shrooms. Mind you, I graduated college at 20, so my beer was technically contraband as well, but I wasn’t complaining.
19 was the legal age to drink alcohol in my state when I was in high school. Then they changed it to 21, but there was some cut-off where you could be grandfathered in.
I remember because one of my friends missed the cut off by about a month, if I remember correctly.
But we had been using fake I.D.s for years at that point anyway. The invention of the home PC and dot-matrix printer, the Kodak Disc camera (for a photo) and promotional letters from various colleges (for a color college logo) was all we needed.
Printed name, social security number, date of birth and a signature line, with space for the college logo and the photo in the upper right hand corner, and cut to the size of a credit card or regular state issued I.D.
Then get it laminated at a book store, after we cut and pasted it all together and signed it. Who’s going to recognize a fake out-of-state college I.D., unless the store clerk happened to go there?
I looked like I was about 12 years old, I was probably 15, but my I.D. said I was 19… nobody really cared back then 😂

We definitely tried to avoid that. I can’t remember anyone I knew who was ever hurt in a car accident from driving under the influence, and everybody drove that way, it was just normal.
We drank IN the car, and the only place I knew where that was legal was in Florida, and only if you weren’t the driver.
It wasn’t until MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) took off that attitudes started to change.
Freedom to do anything was being taken away when I was a kid.
Firecrackers, bottle rockets, sling-shots, seat-belt laws, maximum highway speed of 55mph (I can’t drive 55 — and neither could Sammy Hagar!), increasing the drinking age, all kinds of stuff.
They even make kids where a helmet today, just to ride a bike. My generation would never have gone along with that. Totally unenforceable, they would never have even tried.
When I was a kid, it was like all the adults got to have fun growing up, then they outlawed everything that was fun for us.
And we knew it.
And that wasn’t very nice!
Now we have at least two generations of kids who have grown up in a surveillance state, where they can’t do anything without being hectored or scolded or shouted down by some Karen, to the point that they’re scared of their own shadow.

One of the informal fallacies of logic is called “oversimplification.” There are MANY different types of protein, and there are significant differences between plant protein(s) and animal protein(s).
For thousands of years, the meat-based proteins have been our primary diet: we aren’t ‘grazers’!
The added nutrients from meat are *essential* for our continued survival: there isn’t any viable substitute.

Often, when leftists advocate for bringing in foreigners, people say, “You go first and set an example.” This woman and her husband unwisely did just that, so I give them leftist brownie points for FingA&FindingO. If their judgment is so poor that they have to live through attempts on their lives in order to see what’s really going on, so be it. But I have doubts that they actually see, even now. This could be viewed as a one-off.
I’m at the point where I don’t want to hear what they’re saying in Britain and elsewhere. The gaslighting, the lies, the lack of wisdom and judgment, and the propaganda are poison. We need to be informed, though. But I’m constantly thinking How could anyone possibly believe those things, let alone make policy decisions based on them?
And even if they don’t really believe that “diversity is our strength,” how can they not see that the opposite is true? These problems have been evident for years.
So of course they do see the problems but are denying them for whatever reason. Power and money are the usual suspects. They are destroying their country and failing to protect their people, when those are their first responsibilities as the country’s leaders.
The people are going to have to take things into their own hands, and it’s not going to be easy or safe. I wish them well.

A bitter political fight in a small Central California city spiraled into chaos last week after three elected officials who were ousted in a recall election voted to keep their seats anyway — sparking threats and intimidation at a packed council meeting.
The turmoil erupted Thursday in Avenal, a city of roughly 13,000 residents in Kings County about 60 miles southwest of Fresno, where supporters and opponents of a controversial recall packed City Hall as the council weighed whether to recognize the results of a special election held April 28.
Instead of certifying their own removals, Mayor Alvaro Preciado and councilmembers Leticia Gamez and Pablo Hernandez — three of four officials voters sought to remove — voted to reject the recall results and remain in office, The Sacramento Bee reported.

Per the consult with the vet yesterday, it appears that the little guy is on the road to recovery. He’s still not quite out of the woods yet. But he’s eating more, taking water on his own, sleeping at night, and his activity level is better. The meds he was put on have been discontinued. He’s eating what I call the “dog BRAT diet” — plain boiled skinless chicken + plain boiled white rice, and no-sugar applesauce. I combine the chicken and rice with some of a cat treat paste called “Churu.” He also takes some VERY diluted no-salt chicken broth, in addition to his water. The vet believes that Solas will make a full recovery, but it will take time. I’m still monitoring him closely.

Two Venezuelan nationals have pleaded guilty in federal court in Worcester to using fraudulent Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit cards to illegally purchase food to stock a local restaurant.
Roman Vequiz Fernandez, 32, a Venezuelan national and Coralba Albarracin Siniva, 24, also a Venezuelan national, both residing in living in Leominster, Mass., have pleaded guilty to use, transfer, acquisition and possession of SNAP benefits in an unauthorized manner.
U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman scheduled sentencings for Sept. 22, 2026. The defendants were charged in February 2026 along with Joel Vicioso Fernandez and Raul Fernandez Vicioso.
This criminal conduct is a part of a larger fraud scheme that used the stolen identities of more than 100 individuals to obtain $440,000 in SNAP benefits from Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The stolen identities were used to create 24 “households” in SNAP applications. All of these applications, submitted in the names of over 100 people, were listed as living in two single-family apartments in Providence, R.I.
The defendants and their co-conspirators allegedly used fraudulent SNAP benefits cards to purchase large quantities of expensive bulk food items (such as multi-pound packages of chicken, beef, and pork) from various local wholesalers and food markets to stock El Primo Restaurant at no expense.
With their supplies obtained for free through fraudulent SNAP benefits, they prepared and sold menu items at El Primo Restaurant at a substantial profit, later wiring the proceeds of the fraud, among other places, to individuals living in Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.

I hold Barbara Boyd’s in high opinion, but I find this commentary to be very suspect.
I just finished watching it. Sounds like she’s saying the National Archives, which participated in the Mar-a-Lago situation and is therefore a legitimate target of the current / ongoing investigations, has reached some agreement with Hussein that allows Hussein to hide presidential documents and pick and choose what is released to the public, and when.
Apparently this is unprecedented, and if Boyd’s characterization is remotely accurate, it is happening in the furtherance of all the crimes Hussein has committed, and continues to commit, right up to this day.
