I trust in God that there is an upside from His point of view, because “artificial” intelligence appears too tied to the fundamental design of the universe to be a bad thing in terms of design. If AI is totally bad, then human intelligence, animal intelligence, and life itself is likewise bad, and IMO that is a non-starter, biblically and logically.
IMO God expects us to learn to deal with intelligence that appears unlike our own – to learn to deal with intelligence greater than our own (like His), as well as to confront our own. IMO greater intelligence CAN move us closer to good, and closer to God, but only if we believe in God – if we trust in God – if we stick to his Word. We have to beware of pride. We have to take responsibility. Where we are granted dominion, we need to accept all tasks with humility and obedience to God’s Word.
AI may help separate the wheat from the weeds. If so, that’s a good thing.
IMO the defects of AI are actually helping those who love truth love it more. I also believe that our understanding of the flaws of AI will help us understand our own flaws.
It’s going to be a fight. The challenge was waiting for us to discover it, like all the other challenges God prepared for us.

What if I can share my “recipe for discernment” with an AI by writing an algorithm that expresses my thoughts on how to discern?
You and I probably view intelligence in vastly different ways. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I will say that my view leads to a different result. “Less” and “greater” result from different metrics by us, would be one way to put it.
For example, I view search engines as being more intelligent than me. Perhaps that sounds surprising, after my having worked on the creation of and interaction with smaller ones. But I do respect the quantity and quality of the intelligence, even though it’s different than my own.
The process for creating a search engine is something that one or two humans can do, borrowing the work of many prior humans, but let’s just ignore all those earlier humans. The point is, the “invented” process may be less “intelligence” than the humans who creates it. But the engine after loading a lot of human intelligence through that process, can become quite intelligent. And the thing about AI is that it involves loading that large amount of stored intelligence (originally stored as writing) into a human-imitating architecture, which is why it presents all that intelligence in a manner that apes human intelligence (no pun intended).
As far as AI not creating anything, I personally don’t think that anything I ever created was something that AI could not create (if not now, then eventually). I don’t think that anything I have ever done could not be programmed as an algorithm that would result in it.
But then, I don’t view anything I ever created as something that was not ultimately created by God. Which would mean that anything I created, or which AI created, is ultimately created by God, with all of us – even AI – just being tools in His hand – which He found good, even if now flawed and corrupted.
Please don’t think I’m saying you should change how you look at things. I’m really just trying to explain why I see them differently. As I said at the start, I see intelligence itself differently. That started due to a certain chemistry professor, who got me to see information differently.
We certainly do see intelligence differently, lol. Amassing information is not intelligence. Intelligence requires discernment, which no AI appears to have. Witness all the errors it makes because it can’t discern.
I think this is hilarious. This is the Google AI definition of discernment. I put in bold the part I think is most important:
“Discernment is the ability to make wise, intelligent judgments by accurately perceiving and distinguishing between things, especially when they are not obvious. It involves using keen observation and insight to understand what is true, valuable, or appropriate, often separating what is important from what is not. AI can perfectly define what discernment IS, but it can’t DO it! All “facts” are equal to an AI.
And I have certainly created things no computer could ever create. I’m an artist. A brushstroke guided by my hand can’t be replicated by a machine, no matter how it’s programmed. My gift comes from God.
I think AI is a tool, all right, but a tool of the Adversary. And though God created him, too, we aren’t supposed to embrace him.
I am saying these things to you because I think it’s important. AI is playing with fire, and a lot of people are doing it.

Breaking this erroneous symmetry efficiently, like what we do, was precisely what one of the most important discoveries in AI research was all about.

My limited experience with Brave Browser A.I. is that it gets a lot of things wrong, and regularly.
Today I was trying to remember what movie had Townes Van Zandt singing a cover of the Rolling Stones’ song “Dead Flowers” (1971, on the Sticky Fingers album).
I know the movie, I just had a mental block, so I used the search engine and Brave Browser A.I. took over and responded.
I asked something like ‘what movie has Jeff Bridges and the guy from the TV show Roseanne?’
The A.I. responded that there was no movie that had John Goodman and Jeff Bridges, and then went on to say that John Goodman is known for the movie “The Big Lebowski”.
I replied to the A.I. saying “You’re wrong A.I., that IS the movie I was trying to think of, The Big Lebowski, starring Jeff Bridges, and John Goodman is the co-star!”
And A.I. replied “Correct! John Goodman did co-star in The Big Lebowski with Jeff Bridges.”
So what good is the A.I., when it says a false statement (i.e., that Jeff Bridges and John Goodman were never in a movie together), and it doesn’t even recognize that it gave me the correct answer I was looking for, The Big Lebowski?
This is the kind of factual data that A.I. should be most adept at providing, all it has to do is can the Internet, find the info on Bridges and Goodman, and cross-reference until it finds something they both appeared in together.
A.I. said they never appeared in any movie together, but then also said Goodman was in The Big Lebowski, without realizing Jeff Bridges was too, and that was the movie title I inquired about.

when we toured on the Harley, I was the Navigator. I used my trusty maps and we never got lost.
One year the kids got hubby a Garmin for Christmas and we decided to try it out. Me and my maps versus the Garmin. We were headed to a wonderful little steak sandwich joint just across a covered bridge. It would be an hour ride. I got us there in a little less than an hour. On the way home? the Garmin took us 25 minutes OUT OF OUR way. sigh It took us on dirt roads that i would hesitate to travel on with the bike (thank goodness we took the truck!)
I love maps😍 and have since I was a tiny kid. I can not remember when I could not read a map.
When we went on road trips my parents would hand me the map to keep me quiet. I was reading topo maps by 4th grade.

When we had the godkids visiting and would take them places, we’d always get them a map and then become totally clueless. As an example, we’d be at a zoo and talk about going to the elephants while pointing towards the llamas. Then we’d let the kids figure out the right way to go by reading the map.
I don’t think their actual parents did that as much.

And I still have a box full of maps dating back to my childhood. My dad traveled for his job and we moved several times. I have maps that document so many of those memories.

But, there are many stories in the news about people to followed GPS to a place where they ended up dying!

If you learn to ride English, esp with dressage training, Western is very easy.
Dressage BTW is based on the skills taught to medieval knights. Western riding is a direct descendant via the Spanish in Mexico and the SW. The rider’s seat is exactly the same only the saddle is changed.
English hunt seat is based on racing and fox hunting in England. The rider’s seat is completely different. It is similar to how the Arabs ride with the riders weight over the horse’s shoulders and a forward tilt to the body to accommodate speed.

That’s the whole point of FSD (Full Self-Driving), the person is NOT in control of the car. The newest examples of Tesla Robo-Taxis won’t even have a steering wheel and pedals, both to save on manufacturing cost and to provide more space for passengers.

Tesla is not able to offer FSD (Full Self-driving) until they are confident enough (through testing in real world trials) that their FSD is orders of magnitude safer, with fewer accidents per x-number of miles, than humans.
The Robo-taxi is in that testing stage right now, in cities all over America, mostly still with a human monitor, paid by Tesla to sit in the driver seat but touch nothing unless necessary.
FSD has already been proven safer than human driving based on miles travelled, based on Tesla’s own internal testing. By the end of this year, FSD should be proven to the satisfaction of governing bodies across the U.S.
At that point, all Tesla owners who have FSD service will be able to get in their Tesla, start the car, and then go to sleep if they want to. Or read a book. Or play video games. Or work. They won’t need to pay any attention to driving at all.
Tesla will be accepting full legal and financial responsibility, if the FSD vehicle is at fault, for any accidents that take place — which will be few and far between, compared to human drivers.

Our friends, just bought a tesla plaid. I have to admit it’s pretty impressive.
Riding down the freeway at 80 mpr without steering takes some getting used to.
Watching the reaction on people’s face when it self drives itself to your location from it’s parking sport is priceless.
Definitely not the vehicle for everyone by any stretch, but they are a modern marvel.
Always remember that Tesla is NOT primarily a car company. It’s a Research and Development operation for creating autonomous robots.
And Robo-Taxis.
It looks like the plan was to build and sell EVs to create enough income to fund all of Elon’s other projects, including FSD Robo-Taxis, and the income from Robo-Taxis will fund the Optimus robots to completion.
Once FSD is reasonably perfected (e.g., ten, twenty, thirty times safer than human drivers), Robo-Taxis will be putting Uber out of business.
Tesla should own the Taxi market, nationwide and then worldwide, and at such a low cost per mile, that many people, especially in big cities, will find it both cheaper and more convenient to not even own a personal car anymore.
And between not having to pay a driver, not having to pay for gas and much lower maintenance requirements, Robo-Taxis are able to reduce the cost per mile so much that no one else will be able to compete.
IIRC, in Texas, Uber was charging 3 times as much as a Tesla Robo-Taxi to travel the same short distance.

There are other driverless competitors, primarily Waymo, but Waymo driverless cars are very expensive to build, operate on a complicated (and expensive) combination of radar and cameras, and is not scalable.
Tesla can build hundreds of thousands, millions, in mostly automated factories that churn out multiple complete Robo-Taxis per minute. The goal is to get to one Robo-taxi rolling off the assembly line every 5 to 7 seconds.
There is no one one earth who can even begin to compete with that.
Imagine owning 90% of the taxi market, worldwide. Or even just 50%.
Each Robo-Taxi is expected to cost $25K or less to make, and each one is expected to generate at least $50K per year income. So over 10 years, you make half a million dollars, for a $25K investment.
Buy two, make a million in ten years.
Buy four Robo-Taxis for $100k, make a million every 5 years.
Buy ten Robo-Taxis for $250k, make a million every two years.
Buy twenty Robo-Taxis for $500K, make a million profit every year.
And Tesla should be able to produce 2 million Robo-Taxis per year, every year.
The question is, how many is Tesla willing to sell to the public (and to rental companies like Hertz, or to people wanting to start their own Robo-Taxi fleet), vs. keeping them to generate all that revenue for Tesla and Tesla shareholders.

My niece when she was about three or four years old was riding in the back seat of his car, this was in the 1960’s and the car had roll down windows, also at that time people did not use seat belts. Well my brother is driving she’s standing up on the back seat trying to roll the window up but it was too hard for her to do so she let loose with a bunch of expletives (wow) that stunned by brother/her dad and me. My brother served in the marines and fought in Vietnam so I have a semi-certain idea where she learned those toasty words.
My family was very fortunate that both brothers returned from Vietnam alive, we never took that for granted and thank God for it, God brought them home.
My niece is a Mom now, I don’t doubt she is a wonderful mother, she’s strong. God bless her she went through so much, but her strength landed her on her feet.

COMMENTARY FOR 1 CORINTHIANS
“The Corinthian church contained some Jews, but more Gentiles, and the apostle had to contend with the superstition of the one, and the sinful conduct of the other. The peace of this church was disturbed by false teachers, who undermined the influence of the apostle. Two parties were the result; one contending earnestly for the Jewish ceremonies, the other indulging in excesses contrary to the gospel, to which they were especially led by the luxury and the sins which prevailed around them. This epistle was written to rebuke some disorderly conduct, of which the apostle had been apprized, and to give advice as to some points whereon his judgment was requested by the Corinthians. Thus the scope was twofold. 1. To apply suitable remedies to the disorders and abuses which prevailed among them. 2. To give satisfactory answers on all the points upon which his advice had been desired. The address, and Christian mildness, yet firmness, with which the apostle writes, and goes on from general truths directly to oppose the errors and evil conduct of the Corinthians, is very remarkable. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

Fred, a Marine led my Marine Corps Liaison Office, Ordnance Department, Yokosuka, JA 90-91. Later tours until he retired, had him at Marine Corps HQ DC. Then GS doing the same type of work, in DC. Retired 2022. Consummate Marine.
Spoke with Fred earlier today. First time since 1997.
His health issues since Covid Jabs arrived. Parkinson’s. His heart is FUBAR. Three heart attacks. BP in the morning dangerously low. Takes meds to get his heart working more normally. Auto Immune issues. Dementia. Forgets lots of stuff. While talking, subject abruptly shifts. Sentence structure broken. His body has difficulty regulating body temp properly. Prolly more issues he didn’t share with.
Did not ask if he was Jabbed. Of course he was Jabbed AND likely Boosted…worked in DC, USMC HQ, lots of Pentagon time.
