Dear KMAG: 20221031 Joe Biden Didn’t Win ❀ Open Topic

Joe Biden didn’t win. This is our Real President:

AND our beautiful REALFLOTUS.

The [Q+14]th of October, 2022

A.K.A., Halloween!

(Note sneaky use of positive Biblical imagery for Halloween!)

This Stormwatch Monday Open Thread remains open – VERY OPEN – a place for everybody to post whatever they feel they would like to tell the White Hats, and the rest of the MAGA/KAG/KMAG world (with KMAG being a bit of both).

And indeed, it’s Monday…again.

But we WILL get through it!

We will (AND I REPEAT) let our light shine upon darkness!

We will put on our dancing shoes…..

And have time for some thrills!

WHEATIE – OUR WARRIOR ANGEL

by Duchess01

Please forgive us, Wheatie, we did not know
That you had left us with armor in tow
We had no idea with what you dealt
We did not know the pain you felt
And now we can only imagine
With you what really did happen
Cause rarely did you complain
And/or share your personal pain
Of one thing we are most certain
You are flying high behind the curtain
Watching over us above the crowds
Our Warrior Angel above the clouds
Thank You, Wheatie, for caring for us
While you were here among the fuss
We miss you dear you have no idea
Since time began in the pangaea
With you there was no time
In your wisdom you would chime
To clarify and magnify
The what where how and why
We did not question when you left
We were not slightly bereft
But over time we wondered why
You did not at least stop by
Now we know where you have gone
With the break of this new dawn
We could be angry but are not
Tho with an arrow we’ve been shot
Rest peacefully Warrior Angel dear
Send us a sign that you are near
A butterfly a flower a kiss of rain
From your love do not refrain
God sends Angels to watch over us
And now we have an Angel Plus
A Warrior Angel of Magnificence
From today and forward hence

The Rules

TL;DR –

Wheatie’s Rules:

  1. No food fights.
  2. No running with scissors.
  3. If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone.

Boilerplate, more or less, but worth reading again and again, if only for the minor changes, and to stay out of moderation.

The bottom line is Free Speech. Theories and ideas you don’t agree with must be WELCOME here, and you must be part of that welcoming. But you do NOT need to be part of any agreement.

Bottom line – respect other people’s FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS.

Our only additional requirement is that you do so NICELY. Or at least try to make some effort in that direction.

SO….. [ENGAGE BOILERPLATE…..]

We must endeavor to persevere to love our frenemies – even here.

Those who cannot deal with this easy requirement will be forced to jump the hoops of moderation, so that specific comments impugning other posters and violating the minimal rules can be sorted out and tossed in the trash.

In Wheatie’s words, “We’re on the same side here so let’s not engage in friendly fire.”

That includes the life skill of just ignoring certain other posters.

We do have a site – The U Tree – where civility is not a requirement. Interestingly, people don’t really go there much. Nevertheless, if you find yourself in an “argument” that can’t really stay civil, please feel free to “take it to the U Tree”. The U Tree is also a good place to report any technical difficulties, if you’re unable to report them here. Please post your comment there on one of Wolf’s posts, or in reply to one of Wolf’s comments, to make sure he sees it (though it may take a few hours).

We also have a backup site, called The Q Tree as well, which is really The Q Tree 579486807. You might call it “Second Tree”. The URL for that site is https://theqtree579486807.wordpress.com/. If this site (theqtree.com) ever goes down, please reassemble at the Second Tree.

If the Second Tree goes down, please go to The U Tree, or to our Gab Group, which is located at https://gab.com/groups/4178.

We also have some “old rules” and important guidelines, outlined here, in a very early post, on our first New Year’s Day, in 2019. The main point is not to make violent threats against people, which then have to be taken seriously by law enforcement, and which can be used as a PRETEXT by enemies of this site.

In the words of Wheatie, “Let’s not give the odious Internet Censors a reason to shut down this precious haven that Wolf has created for us.”

A Moment of Prayer

Our policy on extreme religious freedom on this site is discussed HERE. Please feel free to pray and praise God anytime and anywhere.

Thus, please pray for our real President, the one who actually won the election.

You may also pray for our nation, our world, and even our enemies.

Musical Interlude

In honor of dear Wheatie, we now present some music to soothe, inspire, invigorate, or relax.

This is gonna be random – VERY random.

Here is what I’m listening to RIGHT NOW. I love this cover version even better than the original. Same with SEVERAL of these weird SuSE covers.

And now, also thanks to Cthulhu, I’ve got a bunch of PAMPERED MOOSE videos showing up in my YouTube!

Whoops! Not that one!

POMPLAMOOSE has largely replace THE BETHS, but not completely.

So is there a musical group called The Wheaties? Almost!

I have to ask – does YouTube put anything totally unpredictable into my feed? Well, there was this video, but even this was probably based on an earlier video of Stevie Nicks that I watched.

But let’s end with some EPIC HALLOWEEN MUSIC.

Kinda weird, but kinda enjoyable.

And if that’s wasn’t enough, here are three more hours!

Wolfie’s Wheatie’s Word of the Day Year Week:

pamplemousse

noun

1 (botanique) arbre épineux de l’Océan indien produisant un fruit comestible peu juteux utilisé en confiture

2 fruit jaune comestible du pamplemoussier

Used in a sentence or two:

Pamplemousse is the French word for grapefruit, but it is also slang for ‘fatso’.

In honor of dear Wheatie, we now present some music to soothe, inspire, invigorate, or relax.

For some reason, I’m in the mood for some old THIN LIZZY, so here we go.

I’ve always loved this one!

If you prefer more B/W band photo imagery, try this version.

Yup! Riding free with the buffalo!

Indeed, I am “thinking of a certain female”.

A certain female who – DAMN WELL, my bison friends – deserves to be in jail.

But how about one of my favorite Thin Lizzy tunes?

Try this live version!

Here is a fascinating dissection of the song.

Wolfie’s Wheatie’s Word of the Day Year Week:

bison

noun

large bovines in the genus Bison (Greek: “wild ox” (bison)[1]) within the tribe Bovini. Two extant and numerous extinct species are recognized.

Used in a sentence or two or three:

The European bisonB. bonasus, or wisent, or zubr, or colloquially European buffalo, is found in Europe and the Caucasus, reintroduced after being extinct in the wild.

While bison species have been traditionally classified in their own genus, modern genetics indicates that they are nested within the genus Bos, which includes, among others, cattle, yaks and gaur, being most closely related to yaks. Bison are sometimes bred with domestic cattle and produce offspring called beefalo or zubron.

RALLY THREAD: Save America – Robstown, Texas, October 22, 2022

Sorry for the delay. I got wrapped up in something else and forgot this was happening.

https://twitter.com/PapiTrumpo/status/1583513464332464128

About Robstown, Texas:

The Gulf Coast Region where Robstown is located was inhabited by Native Americans in the early 1300-1400’s A.D and subsequent years.  Among the tribes who are believed to have lived along the region were the Coahuiltecan, the Tonkawa, Commanche, the Karankawa, and the Lipan-Apache.[2]

The first “Robstown” was located about 3-4 miles west of its present location in a site currently known as Rabb, Texas.[3]

On January 12, 1903 a charter was granted for the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexico Railroad Company (Missouri-Pacific Rail Road) and the rail line would cross the Texas-Mexican Railway which went from Corpus Christi to Laredo.[4]  This crossroad (as yet, unnamed) was a growth catalyst and agriculturally based economic engine that laid a foundation for the City of Robstown that was to become “The Biggest Little Town in Texas” in the following years.   To this date (2016), this crossroads location continues to provide dynamic economic opportunities for growth for the City of Robstown and the entire Gulf Coast and South Texas regions.

Once this crossroad was established it stirred a series of entrepreneurial opportunities and ideas for local and non-local business-minded and land speculator pioneers.  Much credit is given to the rail road crossroads for the birth of Robstown, but it was not until a land speculator from Keota, Iowa by the name of George H. Paul arrived in 1907 (thus the “beginning” of Robstown) and purchased 10,410.43 acres of the Driscoll Ranch located north of the Texas-Mexican Railroad (built in 1875[5]) that a vibrant new settlement began to take place.[6]  He established the George H. Paul Land Company and built a land office for promoting and selling tracts of land.  By then, other small entrepreneurs had begun to build hotels and other small businesses to accommodate the needs of a new influx of settlers helping to construct and expand the Missouri-Pacific rail lines and a growing population of settlers that began to develop and cultivate the rich farming land in the area.  Among these early businesses was the Germania Hotel (originally located on the current Brendle hotel site) built by the A.B. Kuehm family in 1902 who came here to help with the construction of the Missouri-Pacific Rail Road south to Brownsville.[7]  This was the first building built in Robstown.  These early farmers and business entrepreneurs, within a few years, successfully turned the area into a leading cattle, cotton and vegetable farming/ranching area.   Also among these small business ventures was a small store established by Robert Driscoll, Jr. and it was known as “Rob’s Store.”  Soon after that, the locals were referring to it as “Rob’s town.”  Thus the birth of the town’s name–Robstown.[8]

RALLY THREAD: Save America – Mesa, Arizona, October 9, 2022

Back to back rallies….

The man is going to wear me out.

BTW, yesterday with the cousins was a blast.

Okay, here we go.

Oh, wait. That was yesterday.

Okay, this is from four years ago, but deplorables only, please.
https://twitter.com/marjorie_blog/status/1579187580221825024

About Mesa, Arizona:

After the disappearance of the Hohokam and before the arrival of the early settlers little is known, as explorers did not venture into this area. By the late 19th century near present-day Mesa, U.S. Army troops relocated the Apache, opening the way for settlement.[10]

Mormon pioneer Daniel Webster Jones, with Henry Clay Rogers as his right-hand man, left St. George, Utah in March 1877. Jones had been asked by Mormon officials to direct a party of people in establishing a settlement in Arizona. They traveled south and settled on the north side of the present Mesa area. This settlement was initially known as Fort Utah and later as Jonesville. It was located about where Lehi Road is now. In 1883 it was named Lehi at the suggestion of Brigham Young, Jr.[11]

About this same time, another group dubbed the First Mesa Company arrived from Utah and Idaho. Their leaders were named Francis Martin Pomeroy, Charles Crismon, George Warren Sirrine and Charles I. Robson. Rather than accepting an invitation to settle at Jones’ Lehi settlement, they moved up onto the mesa that serves as the city’s namesake. They dug irrigation canals and used some of the original Hohokam canals. By April 1878, water was flowing through them.[12] The Second Mesa Company arrived in 1879 and settled to the west of the First Mesa Company because of more available farmland. This settlement was originally called Alma and later Stringtown. It was located about where Alma School Road is now.[13]

On July 17, 1878, Mesa City was registered as a 1-square-mile (2.6 km2) townsite. The first school was built in 1879. In 1883, Mesa City was incorporated with a population of 300 people. Dr. A. J. Chandler, who would later go on to found the city of Chandler, worked on widening the Mesa Canal in 1895 to allow for enough flow to build a power plant. In 1917, the city of Mesa purchased this utility company. The revenues from the company provided enough for capital expenditures until the 1960s. During the Great DepressionWPA funds provided paved streets, a new hospital, a new town hall and a library.[14]

RALLY THREAD: Save America – Minden, Nevada, October 8, 2022

I will most likely not be around this evening for the rally, so I’m putting this together early. There’s a big family event going on in the People’s Republic of Illinois where I actually saw a sign that said, “Pritzker sucks” yesterday. Please, add in any information I don’t as finding info on these rallies, beyond the reality that there is one happening, ahead of time is buried by the search engines.

About Minden, Nevada:

It was founded in 1906 by Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg Jr., who named it after the town of Minden, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which was near his father’s birthplace.[4] A large share of the first settlers were Germans.[5] Minden was founded on company land of the Dangberg Home Ranch and Dangberg commissioned most of the town’s early buildings.[6] Minden has had a post office since 1906.[7]

Minden sounds a “sundown siren” at 6pm almost every evening since 1917, originally signifying that members of the Washoe Indian tribe were required to leave town by 6:30pm or face jail or fine.[8] Douglas County fully repealed its sundown ordinance in the mid-1970s. A Minden ordinance meant to clarify the siren’s intent went on the books in 2007, but Minden continues to sound a siren every evening.

In June 2021, the State of Nevada passed a law that prohibits communities from sounding signals associated with a past law “which required persons of a particular race, ethnicity, ancestry, national origin or color to leave the town by a certain time.” Minden Town Manager J. D. Frisbee claimed the law doesn’t apply to them stating, “There’s a (Minden) ordinance in place right now that says that the siren sounds every day in commemoration of our first responders. … It never went off at 6:30, when the county had an ordinance to get Native Americans out of town.”

The wiki entry indicates this is not all that big of a place.

The Rules

Just in case you were wondering where PEDO MUPPETS GO……

TL;DR –

Wheatie’s Rules:

  1. No food fights.
  2. No running with scissors.
  3. If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone.

Boilerplate, more or less, but worth reading again and again, if only for the minor changes, and to stay out of moderation.

About Warren, Michigan:

Beebe’s Corners, the original settlement in what would become the city of Warren, was founded in 1830 at the corner of Mound Road and Chicago Road; its first resident was Charles Groesbeck.[7] Beebe’s Corners was a carriage stop between Detroit and Utica, and included a distillery, mill, tavern, and trading post.[7][8] It was not until 1837 that the now-defunct Warren Township was organized around the settlement, first under the name Hickory, then renamed Aba in April 1838, and finally renamed Warren shortly thereafter.[9] It was named for War of 1812 veteran, and frontier cleric, Rev. Abel Warren. However, when it was originally organized the township was named for Rev. Warren who was a Methodist Episcopal preacher who left his native New York in 1824 for Shelby Township. He went throughout the present-day MacombLapeerOakland, and St. Clair Counties, baptizing, marrying, and burying pioneers of the area, as well as establishing congregations and preaching extensively.[10] He was the first licensed preacher in the State of Michigan.[11]

Another version of the source of the city’s name claims it was “named for General Joseph Warren, who fell at the Battle of Bunker Hill.[12]

The settlement was formally incorporated as the Village of Warren from Warren Township on April 28, 1893 out of one square mile bound by 14 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road to the north and south, and in half-a-mile east and west of Mound Road.[7] The small village grew slowly, and had a population of 582 in 1940 and 727 in 1950, while the larger surrounding township grew at a much quicker pace.[13] Much of this growth was due to the construction of the Chrysler’s Truck Assembly plant in 1938, the Detroit Arsenal Tank Plant in 1940 to support the WW II effort, and the General Motors Technical Center between 1949 and 1956.

The Red Run and Bear Creek, just small creeks back in the 1800s, has blossomed into an open major inter-county stormdrain flowing through Warren, into the Clinton River, and onwards to Lake St. Clair.[14]

The Village of Warren and most of the surrounding Township of Warren, together with Van Dyke, incorporated as a city in 1957, less the city of Center Line, which had incorporated as a village from Warren Township in 1925 and as a city in 1936.[9] Between 1950 and 1960, Warren’s population soared from 42,653 to 89,426. This population explosion was largely fueled by the post-WWII Baby Boom and later, by white flight from its southern neighbor of Detroit in that decade. This change in population continued into the next decade when the city’s population doubled again, ultimately reaching a high of 179,000 in 1970.

The subsequent decades have seen Warren’s population decline, while violent crime has increased. Combined with collapsing housing prices, down -53% between 2011 and 2016, this has led Warren to a number 7 ranking in Forbes’ Most Miserable Cities to Live in the US; joining two other Michigan cities, Detroit and Flint, in the Top 10.[15]

RALLY THREAD: Save America – Wilmington, NC, September 23, 2022

About Wilmington:

History

The city was founded in the 1730s, and after going through a series of different names (New Carthage, New London, Newton), its name became Wilmington in 1740,[21] named after Spencer Compton, 1st Earl of Wilmington.[21]

The area along the river had been inhabited by various successive cultures of indigenous peoples for thousands of years. At the time of European encounter, historic Native Americans were members of tribes belonging to the Eastern Siouan family.[22]

The ethnic European and African history of Wilmington spans more than two and a half centuries. In the early 16th century, Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano commissioned by the king of France with a French crew was reportedly the first European to see this area, including the city’s present site. The first permanent colonial settlement in the area was established in the 1720s by European settlers.[22] In September 1732, a community was founded on land owned by John Watson on the Cape Fear River, at the confluence of its northwest and northeast branches.[23] The settlement, founded by the first royal governor, George Burrington, was called “New Carthage,” and then “New Liverpool;” it gradually took on the name “New Town” or “Newton”.[24] Governor Gabriel Johnston soon after established his government there for the North Carolina colony. In 1739 or 1740, the town was incorporated with a new name, Wilmington, in honor of Spencer Compton, Earl of Wilmington.[25]

Some early settlers of Wilmington came from the Albemarle and Pamlico regions, as well as from the colonies of Virginia and South Carolina, but most new settlers migrated from the Northern colonies, the West Indies, and Northern Europe.[26] Many of the early settlers were indentured servants from Northern Europe. As the indentured servants gained their freedom and fewer could be persuaded to travel to North America because of improving conditions back home, the settlers imported an increasing number of slaves to satisfy the labor demand.[24] By 1767, African slaves accounted for more than 62% of the population of the Lower Cape Fear region.[27] Many worked in the port as laborers, and some in ship-related trades.

Naval stores and lumber fueled the region’s economy, both before and after the American Revolution. During the Revolutionary War, the British maintained a garrison at Fort Johnston near Wilmington.[28]

Due to Wilmington’s commercial importance as a major port, it had a critical role in opposition to the British in the years leading up to the Revolution. The city had outspoken political leaders who influenced and led the resistance movement in North Carolina. The foremost of these was Wilmington resident Cornelius Harnett, who served in the General Assembly at the time, where he rallied opposition to the Sugar Act in 1764. When the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act the following year, designed to raise revenue for the Crown with a kind of tax on shipping, Wilmington was the site of an elaborate demonstration against it.[29]

On October 19, 1765, several hundred townspeople gathered in protest of the new law, burned an effigy of one town resident who favored the act, and toasted to “Liberty, Property, and No Stamp Duty.” On October 31, another crowd gathered in a symbolic funeral of “Liberty”. But before the effigy was buried, Liberty was found to have a pulse, and celebration ensued.[30][31]

Musical Interlude

In the fashion of posts by our dearly departed sister Wheatie, let’s have some music to soothe, inspire, invigorate, or relax.

Somebody’s liking this one! Talk about some EPIC background for our movie!

RALLY THREAD: Save America – Youngstown, Ohio, September 17, 2022

About Youngstown:

Youngstown was named for New York native John Young, who surveyed the area in 1796 and settled there soon afterward.[8] On February 9, 1797, Young purchased the township of 15,560 acres (6,300 ha) from the Western Reserve Land Company for $16,085.[9] The 1797 establishment of Youngstown was officially recorded on August 19, 1802.[10]

The area that includes present-day Youngstown was part of the Connecticut Western Reserve, a section of the Northwest Territory that Connecticut initially did not cede to the Federal government.[11][12] Upon cession, Connecticut retained the title to the land in the Western Reserve, which it sold to the Connecticut Land Company for $1,200,000.[11][12][13] While many of the area’s early settlers came from Connecticut, Youngstown attracted many Scots-Irish settlers from neighboring Pennsylvania.[14] The first European Americans to settle permanently in the area were Pittsburgh native James Hillman and wife Catherine Dougherty.[15] By 1798, Youngstown was the home of several families who were concentrated near where Mill Creek meets the Mahoning River.[16] Boardman Township was founded in 1798 by Elijah Boardman, a member of the Connecticut Land Company. Also founded in 1798 was Austintown by John McCollum who was a settler from New Jersey.[17]

As the Western Reserve’s population grew, the need for administrative districts became apparent. In 1800, territorial governor Arthur St. Clair established Trumbull County (named in honor of Connecticut Governor Jonathan Trumbull), and designated the smaller settlement of Warren as its administrative center, or “county seat“.[18] In 1813, Trumbull County was divided into townships, with Youngstown Township comprising much of what became Mahoning County.[19] The village of Youngstown was incorporated in 1848, and in 1867 Youngstown was chartered as a city. It became the county seat in 1876, when the administrative center of Mahoning County was moved from neighboring Canfield.[20] Youngstown has been Mahoning County’s county seat to this day.[21]

Golden Age

The discovery of coal by the community in the early 19th century paved the way for the Youngstown area’s inclusion on the network of the famed Erie Canal. The Pennsylvania and Ohio Canal Company was organized in 1835, and the canal was completed in 1840.[22] Local industrialist David Tod, who became Ohio governor during the Civil War, persuaded Lake Erie steamboat owners that coal mined in the Mahoning Valley could fuel their vessels if canal transportation were available between Youngstown and Cleveland. The railroad’s arrival in 1856 smoothed the path for further economic growth.[23]

Youngstown’s industrial development changed the face of the Mahoning Valley. The community’s burgeoning coal industry drew hundreds of immigrants from Wales, Germany, and Ireland. With the establishment of steel mills in the late 19th century, Youngstown became a popular destination for immigrants from Eastern Europe, Italy, and Greece.[24]

In the early 20th century, the community saw an influx of immigrants from non-European countries including what is modern day Lebanon, Palestine/Israel, and Syria.[25] By the 1920s, this dramatic demographic shift produced a nativist backlash, and the Mahoning Valley became a center of Ku Klux Klan activity.[26] The situation reached a climax in 1924, when street clashes between Klan members and Italian and Irish Americans in neighboring Niles led Ohio Governor A. Victor Donahey to declare martial law.[27] By 1928 the Klan was in steep decline; and three years later, the organization sold its Canfield, Ohio, meeting area, Kountry Klub Field.[28] Despite the prevalence of Irish Americans in Youngstown, their presence wasn’t always evident. When radio personality Pete Gabriel (who was Greek), came to Youngstown, he found out at the time that there was no St Patrick’s Day parade there, so he started one.[29]

The growth of industry attracted people from within the United States and from Latin America. By the late 19th century, African Americans were well represented in Youngstown, and the first local congregation of the African Methodist Episcopal Church was established in 1871.[30] In the 1880s, local attorney William R. Stewart was the second African American elected to the Ohio House of Representatives.[31] A large influx of African Americans in the early 20th century owed much to developments in the industrial sector. During the national Steel Strike of 1919, local industrialists recruited thousands of workers from the South, many of whom were Black.[32] This move inflamed racist sentiment among local Whites, and for decades, African-American steelworkers experienced discrimination in the workplace.[33][34] Migration from the South rose dramatically in the 1940s, when the mechanization of southern agriculture brought an end to the sharecropping system, leading onetime farm laborers to seek industrial jobs.[35]

Youngstown’s local iron ore deposits were exhausted by the early 20th century. Since the city is landlocked (the Mahoning River is not navigable), ore from Michigan and Minnesota had to arrive by rail from Cleveland and other Great Lakes port cities where large bulk carriers were unloaded. This put Youngstown at a competitive disadvantage to the iron and steel producers in Cleveland, Buffalo, Chicago and Detroit—all on Great Lake shores. Compared to these four cities, Youngstown had a higher cost of transporting raw materials to the mills, according to a Harvard Business Review report published in January 1933. Higher transportation costs are one reason why Youngstown mills began their decline before those in other “rust belt” cities.[36]
