DEAR MAGA: Open Thread 20220818

Just in case you haven’t heard:

Buh-bye!

Tonight, We Dance, The Insufferable Liz Cheney Has Been Crushed and Cast into The Trash Heap of History

Reactions to Lyin’ Loser Liz Cheney’s Loss Come in Swiftly . . And They Are 🔥

Although, that’s not all there is to this story:

Cheney to lead organization against possible Trump reelection effort, report

“In coming weeks, Liz will be launching an organization to educate the American people about the ongoing threat to our Republic, and to mobilize a unified effort to oppose any Donald Trump campaign for president,” Cheney spokesperson Jeremy Adler told Politico.

Cheney will use the group as her primary political outreach organization as she debates whether to run for president in 2024.

Chris Wallace: Liz Cheney ‘Declared War on Donald Trump and Donald Trump’s Republican Party’

Yeah. Whatever.

The Rise of The America First Party

The left-wing MSM are in full cope today, mourning the loss, fawning over Cheney as if she were some legendary war hero. I shit you not Joe Scarborough compared her to Ulysses Grant in the Civil War. They are even suggesting that this loss will lead to her 2024 Presidential Campaign to unseat Trump… when she just lost her own State primary by 37 points to a Trump-endorsed candidate… LMAOOOOO!

As if they were headed to a funeral.

HEADLINES:

From Civil Compromise to Partisan Persecution

But sometimes an event occurs that is so significant that it defies the excesses of commercialized political exaggeration. The raid on Mar-a-Lago was such an event. With this disgraceful stunt, the FBI has in effect openly acknowledged that it is little more than a political police force willingly placed in the service of the Democratic Party with its most prominent, public-facing role being to shelter and protect the Democratic Party’s own well-connected and highly-placed criminals while criminalizing and persecuting its political opponents, right down to falsely framing and entrapping them when necessary. If it isn’t eventually dismantled entirely, perhaps the FBI should be renamed the FBCF — Federal Bureau of Custom Framing.

The FBI has lost the public trust and is undeserving of the benefit of the doubt. Its partisan alignments are obvious. The FBI has proven incapable of taking any interest in the innumerable crimes of Antifa and BLM, yet simply cannot refrain from issuing dire warnings against unruly parents who dare to oppose mandated racist indoctrination at school board meetings. The FBI simply cannot be bothered to address the ongoing organized intimidation of Supreme Court justices by leftist thugs, yet shows no hesitation in branding patriotic imagery as a sign of probable alignment with domestic terrorism. The next time our intelligence services are caught with their pants down — the next time we are hit with a 9/11-style attack from an unexpected quarter, perhaps the FBI will seek to save face and solicit public appreciation by reminding us that not a single January 6th trespasser evaded its grasp.

What makes all this so obscene is not just the spiteful gratuitousness of the Mar-a-Lago raid, but the deeper betrayal of the American experiment such made-for-television partisan stunts represent. Of course, to impugn the FBI is somewhat like condemning the misbehaving dog while failing to notice the guiding hand a little further up the leash. There are ample grounds to suspect the Democrat party’s latest abuse of power is no mere episode of run-of-the-mill political viciousness, but represents something far darker. The Left’s embrace of vulgarized postmodern doctrines that effectively reduce absolutely everything in life — including culture and politics — to the mere exercise of brute force is, undeniably, a standing warrant for the abuse of power. To the extent that the Democratic Party dedicates itself to the tenets of postmodern fascism, it commits itself on principal to the abuse of power as its sole guiding standard of political practice.

Marx and Cancel Culture

First, Marx is the author of the modern cancel culture and second, he should probably be the victim of it — but won’t be.

In 1848, long before computers, Marx wrote that, in normal society, the past dominates the present, but in Communist society, the present had to dominate the past.  This means that history can only be seen and interpreted through the prism of Marxist theory.  Anything incompatible with the latest Marxist positions wouldl necessarily be altered to fit or eliminated (AKA Cancelled).

This is necessary because Marxists have to control the “facts” and the narrative to fit their manufactured reality.  No competing messages or facts can be allowed.  This was the actual beginning of the cancel culture.

Green Fascists Are Destroying the World

Earlier this summer, the CO2 Coalition was banished from LinkedIn. The CO2 Coalition, with only three full-time employees and an annual budget of under $1 million, had committed the unpardonable sin of sharing contrarian perspectives on climate science. Its work, produced by a network of volunteers that includes dozens of distinguished scientists, offers indispensable balance on a topic that requires honest debate now more than ever.

Among the many comments that followed LinkedIn’s decision, the mentality of the climate crisis mob came through loud and clear. If “the science is settled,” then any contrary perspective is dangerous and must be silenced. A typical comment: “Why does LinkedIn allow so much Climate Disinformation to persist throughout its platform?” Brigades of these content wardens continuously log complaints with LinkedIn against climate skeptics. The impeccable work of Bjorn Lomborg is one of their next targets.

This is not the environmentalism of previous generations, and this new zealotry does not negate or diminish the common sense concern for the environment that most reasonable people share. But this new breed of intolerant, fanatical environmentalism, manifested in the movement to avert a “climate crisis,” is perhaps the most virulent and dangerous expression of fascism in America today. If left unchecked, this fascistic climate change movement will destroy freedom and prosperity while it destroys the planet it purportedly wants to save.

Stop Calling Them Democrats. They’re Communists.

It’s time to stop calling them Democrats.

This is no longer the party of FDR, JFK, or even Bill Clinton, and it’s time to start calling a spade a spade.

An Honest Leader Would Stand Up to Big Pharma

For a start we are going to investigate:

1) John D. Rockefeller (1839 – 1937), who by the turn of the 20th century controlled 90 percent of all oil refineries in the United States, and how the discovery of “petrochemicals,” and other similar discoveries led to the monopolization of the chemical and medical industries in the same way the Rockefellers monopolized the oil industry, giving birth to the pharmaceutical industrial complex.

2) The concerted action taken to destroy the reputations of doctors, scientists, hospitals and colleges that did not bow to Rockefeller’s pressure to disavow natural cures and embrace synthetic products.

3) The millions of dollars in grants the Rockerfellers gave to hospitals and colleges and the founding of the “General Education Board” (GEB), and its underlying purpose to homogenize the system (beneath its positive creed of battling racism and sexism) so that alternative thought was criminalized.

THE MKULTRA ECOLOGY

John Cornyn vs. Intellectual Property

Cornyn’s approval ratings currently stand at a dismal 36 percent among Texas Republicans. His popularity will not be helped by his praise of Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), recently telling the New York Times, “I respect her.”

One area of betrayal conservatives have overlooked so far, however, is Cornyn’s cozy relationship with Big Tech. In 2019, as conservatives were beginning to fight back against Silicon Valley censorship, he opined, “The discussion of breaking up a Google or breaking up a Facebook is not what we should be doing.” The Texas senator pressured Trump to appoint former staffer Noah Phillips to the FTC, where he denied the commission had any authority to address Big Tech censorship. In July 2020, when even moderate Republicans were waking up to Big Tech’s bias, he promoted puff pieces on Google.

MATTHEW 22:1-14

1And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, 2“The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a marriage feast for his son, 3and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast; but they would not come. 4Again he sent other servants, saying, `Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have made ready my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves are killed, and everything is ready; come to the marriage feast.’ 5But they made light of it and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, 6while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. 7The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. 8Then he said to his servants, `The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. 9Go therefore to the thoroughfares, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find.’ 10And those servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; so the wedding hall was filled with guests. 11“But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment; 12and he said to him, `Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. 13Then the king said to the attendants, `Bind him hand and foot, and cast him into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.’ 14For many are called, but few are chosen.”

The Bread of Life

During the First Temple period Jerusalemites ate mainly the natural crops that are typical of the region: “a land of wheat and barley, of vines, figs, and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey” (Deuteronomy 8:8). The usual diet contained few vegetables, mainly those that grew wild in the fields (garlic and wild onion). Meat was enjoyed only by the privileged rich; ordinary people would have meat only at the Passover sacrifice or on particularly important occasions. Other foods of the common people included the eggs of wild fowl, milk, cheese, and butter. David, going out to his brothers who were in the camp of the army fighting the Philistines, brings them cheeses (1 Samuel 17:18).

The limited information we have suggests that in the biblical period it was customary to have two daily meals. A late-morning meal, which also served as a break in the workday, would probably consist of bread dipped in olive oil or in wine vinegar, toasted wheat, olives, figs or some other fruit, and water or a little diluted wine. A meal like this was eaten by Ruth the Moabite and Boaz (Ruth 2:14). The main meal was taken in the evening, before dark, and consisted of a common pot of soup or a broth of seasoned legumes into which the diners dipped slices of bread to scoop out the helping.

“Further, take wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet, and emmer. Put them into one vessel and bake them into bread” (Ezekiel 4:9). The Land of Israel lies in the wheat belt where the culture of flour and bread as a universal food base developed. From the Bible we know of leavened bread and matzah, but also halah, wafers, bread morsels, and cakes. Bread was baked in an oven heated by twigs, placed on hot stones and covered with cinders or coals, or it might be fried in an iron pan. Other food-grains were damp green seeds (“carmel”, “melilot”), wheat stalks of which the seeds were toasted in fire, such as David ate during his flight from Absalom in the desert, and gruel made of ground wheat, groats, or a baked mixture of ground wheat and meat.

In fact, scholars estimate that bread made up 50–75 percent of the average person’s diet. It was the food staple of the ancient world.

What Did People Eat and Drink in Roman Palestine?

Like many ancient societies, the Israelites were dependent upon cereals; so much so that the word for bread, “lechem,” is synonymous with food.

Biblical Bread: Baking Like the Ancient Israelites

From the above, we can clearly see that grains, and more specifically, bread, was the essential staple, the food for life, in first century Israel.

I AM the Bread of Life.

“I am the Bread of Life” (John 6:35) is one of the seven “I Am” statements of Jesus. Jesus used the same phrase “I AM” in seven declarations about Himself. In all seven, He combines I AM with metaphors which illustrate His saving relationship with the world. All appear in the book of John.

John 6:35 says, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”

Bread is considered a staple food—i.e., a basic dietary item. A person can survive a long time on only bread and water. Bread is such a basic food item that it becomes synonymous for food in general. We even use the phrase “breaking bread together” to indicate the sharing of a meal with someone. Bread also plays an integral part of the Jewish Passover meal. The Jews were to eat unleavened bread during the Passover feast and then for seven days following as a celebration of the exodus from Egypt. Finally, when the Jews were wandering in the desert for 40 years, God rained down “bread from heaven” to sustain the nation (Exodus 16:4).

All of this leads to the scene being described in John 6 when Jesus used the term “bread of life.” He was trying to get away from the crowds to no avail. He had crossed the Sea of Galilee, and the crowd followed Him. After some time, Jesus inquires of Philip how they’re going to feed the crowd. Philip’s answer displays his “little faith” when he says they don’t have enough money to give each of them the smallest morsel of food. Finally, Andrew brings to Jesus a boy who had five small loaves of bread and two fish. With that amount, Jesus miraculously fed the throng with lots of food to spare.

Afterward, Jesus and His disciples cross back to the other side of Galilee. When the crowd sees that Jesus has left, they follow Him again. Jesus takes this moment to teach them a lesson. He accuses the crowd of ignoring His miraculous signs and only following Him for the “free meal.” Jesus tells them in John 6:27, “Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” In other words, they were so enthralled with the food, they were missing out on the fact that their Messiah had come. So the Jews ask Jesus for a sign that He was sent from God (as if the miraculous feeding and the walking across the water weren’t enough). They tell Jesus that God gave them manna during the desert wandering. Jesus responds by telling them that they need to ask for the true bread from heaven that gives life. When they ask Jesus for this bread, Jesus startles them by saying, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”

This is a phenomenal statement! First, by equating Himself with bread, Jesus is saying he is essential for life. Second, the life Jesus is referring to is not physical life, but eternal life. Jesus is trying to get the Jews’ thinking off of the physical realm and into the spiritual realm. He is contrasting what He brings as their Messiah with the bread He miraculously created the day before. That was physical bread that perishes. He is spiritual bread that brings eternal life.

Third, and very important, Jesus is making another claim to deity. This statement is the first of the “I AM” statements in John’s Gospel. The phrase “I AM” is the covenant name of God (Yahweh, or YHWH), revealed to Moses at the burning bush (Exodus 3:14). The phrase speaks of self-sufficient existence (or what theologians refer to as “aseity”), which is an attribute only God possesses. It is also a phrase the Jews who were listening would have automatically understood as a claim to deity.

Fourth, notice the words “come” and “believe.” This is an invitation for those listening to place their faith in Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God. This invitation to come is found throughout John’s Gospel. Coming to Jesus involves making a choice to forsake the world and follow Him. Believing in Jesus means placing our faith in Him that He is who He says He is, that He will do what He says He will do, and that He is the only one who can.

Fifth, there are the words “hunger and thirst.” Again, it must be noted that Jesus isn’t talking about alleviating physical hunger and thirst. The key is found in another statement Jesus made, back in His Sermon on the Mount. In Matthew 5:6, Jesus says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” When Jesus says those who come to Him will never hunger and those who believe in Him will never thirst, He is saying He will satisfy our hunger and thirst to be made righteous in the sight of God.

If there is anything the history of human religion tells us, it is that people seek to earn their way to heaven. This is such a basic human desire because God created us with eternity in mind. The Bible says God has placed [the desire for] eternity in our hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The Bible also tells us that there is nothing we can do to earn our way to heaven because we’ve all sinned (Romans 3:23) and the only thing our sin earns us is death (Romans 6:23). There is no one who is righteous in himself (Romans 3:10). Our dilemma is we have a desire we cannot fulfill, no matter what we do. That is where Jesus comes in. He, and He alone, can fulfill that desire in our hearts for righteousness through the Divine Transaction: “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). When Christ died on the cross, He took the sins of mankind upon Himself and made atonement for them. When we place our faith in Him, our sins are imputed to Jesus, and His righteousness is imputed to us. Jesus satisfies our hunger and thirst for righteousness. He is our Bread of Life.

Breaking: DOJ source calls raid a ‘spectacular backfire,’ claims AG Garland didn’t approve it

Now Garland says he did approve the operation, but still, if it was a deep state maneuver, it backfired. Big time.

The FBI Raids Mar-a-Lago, and I Have Questions

Putting aside the legality of the whole thing, I have a bunch of questions.

  • Did President “Return to Normalcy” approve this, or is America now run by a shadow government?  Biden claims he didn’t know about the raid.  If true, that’s even scarier than the raid.
  • Has Merrick Garland erased any doubt that the Deep State is a genuine threat to our republic?
  • Is there any need for more evidence to fire Chris Wray and impeach Merrick Garland?
  • Has anyone made a stronger argument than Merrick Garland for limited government?
  • Does this raid undermine or reinforce the notion that we now have a two-tiered justice system?
  • If searches of ex-presidents are now accepted practice, who has the most to hide: Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, or Joe “Ten Percent for the Big Guy” Biden?  It’s a valid question because they’re all fair game now.
  • Is it just a coincidence that Director Wray cut his Senate testimony short, and skedaddled out of Washington just days before the raid?  Might he have been worried about a leak concerning the raid while he was still seated before Senator Grassley?
  • Do we have enough now to at least start talking seriously about disbanding the FBI?
  • Is this the “return to normalcy” that the Democrats promised us?
  • Has this action “red-pilled” any traditional Democrat voters? Has this action shamed any of them, similar to how the FBI has shamed former agents?
  • Will this raid encourage or discourage Democrat voters from going to the polls in November?
  • Has this action gotten any independent voters off of the fence?  If so, are they likely to fall left or right after news of the raid?
  • Are people suffering through stagflation getting sick of the Democrat party’s obsession with the last election?
  • Will this raid enhance or poison future legislative cooperation?
  • Will this be the “crossing of the Rubicon” that actually forces RINOs to take a side?
  • Did the NeverTrumps not see the character of the people they were climbing into bed with?  Do they see now that they should have used protection?
  • Is this the kind of banana republic b——- that the NeverTrumps meant to unleash on America when they sided with the Dems?
  • Where do the NeverTrumps stand on the raid?  Are they against or in support of the action?  Do they have any principles left, or has hatred burned their consciences to ashes?
  • What is Liz Cheney’s position on the raid?  Does her hatred of Trump outweigh her love of country?  I have the same question for Kevin “Real Man” Costner and Senator Pierre Delecto.
  • Has this raid increased or decreased the likelihood that The Donald will run again?  I’m sure the Dems have contemplated this question a lot.
  • Has this raid increased or decreased the likelihood of The Donald being re-elected?  I’m pretty sure the Dems didn’t spend much time thinking this one out.
  • Did the Dems consider that this action might actually help to rehabilitate Trump’s image?  They created an America in which victimhood is admired — and they just made Trump public victim number one.
  • Has Merrick Garland converted Trump from a mean-tweeting ogre to a sympathetic martyr yet?
  • Could the Biden administration have possibly done anything more potent to maximize Republican turnout in November?
  • Has this angered average Americans?  If so, how are they likely to respond?  Did the Dems devote even one brain cell to that question?

These are not rhetorical questions.  I have suspicions about the answers — but I don’t know for sure.  I am pretty sure the Democrats don’t know, either — which makes this raid seem all the more desperate.

2“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” 3With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4And you will say in that day: “Give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name; make known his deeds among the nations, proclaim that his name is exalted. 5“Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously; let this be known in all the earth. 6Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

And now for the business portion.

Please review our HOST and site owner’s Guidelines for posting and discussion for this site. Wolf is kind enough to put up with *most* of us and our antics after thorough vetting. Violators of the baiting and deliberately attempting to divide the group rules WILL face consequences.

The discourse on this site is to be CIVIL – no name calling, baiting, or threatening others here is allowed. Company manners are appreciated. Those who are so inclined may visit Wolf’s other sanctuary, the U-Tree, to slog out discussions best saved for a wrestling mat. If, for some reason, this site is not available, head over to the UTree and visit the post at the top of the list or the closest rescue thread.

This site is a celebration of the natural rights endowed to humans by our Creator as well as those enshrined in the Bill of Rights adopted in the founding documents of the United States of America. Within the limits of law, how we exercise these rights is part of the freedom of our discussion.

THAT MEANS THAT ALL OF US HERE ARE ENTITLED TO OUR OPINIONS AND PREJUDICES, ETC., SO LONG AS THEY CAUSE NO PHYSICAL HARM TO OTHERS OR DOXX OUR FELLOW TREE DWELLERS.

All opinions here are valued for the diversity they bring to the issues, and the shaping of understanding regarding topics for which many of us do not have all information. Correcting the record on any one topic is appreciated.

Be careful in expressing thoughts as we would all like to think well of the rest of the group, and ill-thought out comments have a way of wrecking that for everyone.

JOHN 15:4-10

4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned. 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you. 8By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples. 9As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love. 10If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.

DEAR MAGA: TGIF Open Thread 20220805

After two hours at the state license office with nothing to show for it because the word “saint” is not spelled out on a piece of ID, I need one of these:

Summer Sunset Cocktail

Equipment Required to Make a Pitcher Of Summer Sunset Cocktails
Pitcher
Long spoon/skewer to mix
Measuring spoon/spirits measure for alcohol

Ingredients Required for Summer Sunset Cocktails
Vodka
Peach Schnapps
Lemonade
Cold orange juice
Cold fresh cranberry juice
Lots of ice cubes

Directions To Make A Pitcher of Summer Sunset Cocktails
First, put some ice into the empty pitcher. It is preferable to have almost a quarter of the pitcher full in order to keep the drink cool while drinking, which adds to the fruity ice-lolly flavor, which makes it taste so sweet and summery.

Pour in 1/2 cup vodka, then add 1/4 cup Peach Schnapps. Fill the pitcher half full with lemonade and stir. Mixing is essential as is makes such the alcohol is evenly distributed and is not just sitting at the bottom amongst the ice.

The rest of the pitcher should be filled with orange and cranberry juice, about half of each. The volume of each depends on the size of the pitcher used, but 2 cups of each is average in a 2-liter pitcher. This is about the size of an average carton of store-bought fruit juice.

If you wanted to make the cocktail a bit fruitier, you could add orange slices added to the pitcher.

Any questions?

Great. Let’s see what we’ve got.

“There was a guy named Frank Gannon, who wrote speeches for Nixon and was a very close friend of his, and weirdly he became the guy who books comedians on Letterman, and when I moved back to New York, being on Letterman was all anybody wanted so Gannon was the most important person in comedy at the time. He was a strange guy who was very serious, and he would just come and he would watch you, and if he liked you he’d get more of you to come and maybe you’d be on the show…so he liked me, he never got me on the show but he liked me, so I went to Letterman’s office and met him, and asked him about Nixon – cause he co-wrote Nixon’s big autobiography “RN” – and he told me that when you get a few drinks in Nixon, he says ‘the same people who got the Kennedys got me’, he says it’s the same machine that took out John and Robert came after him, they just couldn’t use bullets anymore because it was getting too…they were on….he says that Watergate was something that happens all the time, and still does, it’s how things are done…so that was Nixon’s story, he didn’t say it in public, but…”

SERIOUS MUST READ:

Issue #1246: The social tipping point is here

Do you feel that, anon? That lingering feeling deep in the pit of your stomach that something has gone awry? That the things you are being told by “authority figures” simply are not computing with the reality in front of your face? If you’ve been reading this rag this feeling has probably been lingering for some time now. But it seems as though the global consciousness has reached a tipping point. The pressure being exerted from every angle from those who would like to cattle herd humanity into a dystopian hellscape coupled with the unprecedented access to information that we are afforded today has caused something to crack.

They tried to do too much too quickly and people have started to develop pattern recognition on the go that allows them to recognize when the unproductive class is attempting to manipulate their minds.  This pattern recognition is accelerated and enhanced by our ability to communicate directly with each other in real time over the internet. If you want to get a better understanding of the driving force behind this acceleration I highly recommend you take some time to comb through the thread linked above.

Why We Lost Trust in the Expert Class

Recently, a group of 55 distinguished pro-administration economists assured us that Joe Biden’s massive borrowing and new entitlements agenda were not inflationary. In September 2021, these economists with 14 Nobel prize winners among them declared that Biden’s inflationary policies would actually “ease” inflation.

Last month, inflation spiked to an annualized rate of 9.1 percent. None of these “blue-chip” economists have offered any apologies for lending their prestige to convince Americans of the absurd: that inflating the money supply, spiking new government spending, incentivizing labor non-participation, and keeping interest rates artificially low would not cause inflation.

The IRS about to go ‘beast mode’?

The Wall Street Journal has a shocking lead editorial titled “The IRS is About to Go Beast Mode” about the particulars of its $80 billion expansion of the IRS, which is six times the size of the tax agency’s current $12.6 billion budget:

The $80 billion is more than six times the current annual IRS budget of $12.6 billion. The money will be ladled out over nine years and comes with few strings attached. The main Democratic command is for the tax agency to bring the hammer down on taxpayers.

The bill earmarks $45.6 billion for “enforcement,” including “litigation,” “criminal investigations,” “investigative technology,” “digital asset monitoring” and a new fleet of tax-collector cars. The result will be far more audits, civil suits and criminal referrals.

The main targets will by necessity be the middle- and upper-middle class because that’s where the money is. The Joint Committee on Taxation, Congress’s official tax scorekeeper, says that from 78% to 90% of the money raised from under-reported income would likely come from those making less than $200,000 a year. Only 4% to 9% would come from those making more than $500,000.

The IRS knows the super-wealthy employ lawyers and accountants who make litigation time-consuming and risky. It also knows that Democrats would howl if the agency pursues fraud in the earned-income tax credit program, despite what the IRS has estimated are $18 billion in improper payments each year.

So the target will be the middle class, particularly small business start-ups, whom Joe Biden would like to see a lot less of. They’re the entities about to be audited up the wazoo.

The Failure of Our Expert Class on China Cost Us Dearly

The expansion of China’s power is one of the most remarkable developments of the second half of the 20th century, rivaled only by the Cold War remaining cold and its peaceful end. In 1980, China’s gross domestic product of $191 billion. In 2000, it was about $1.2 trillion. Today it is approximately $17.7 trillion and the equal or just a bit below the size of the U.S. economy.

The Brew: Trump’s Endorsement Clout Shows He’s Still the Bouncer in the Republican Party

Trump’s influence continues despite the open hostility of GOP elites, once-dominant conservative media outlets such as National Review and Fox News, and the efforts of the Deep State and its political front, the January 6 committee, to criminalize him and his supporters….

In case our elites are wondering why angry populist candidates are doing so well, one answer might be: the people are angry. They have every reason to be, as their children are targeted by teachers promoting radical, crackpot, sexually degenerate ideologies in school.

Biden’s Shameless Makeover as a Border Wall Champion

Imagine the disappointment and anger among rank-and-file social justice warriors at the news that Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has been discreetly filling in gaps along the border wall in the Yuma Sector of Arizona. In their world, this is not just a shift in policy, but a betrayal of decency and light and an embrace of wickedness.

One of two things is likely going on here. Despite its total mismanagement of the country these last 18 months, the Biden White House might have at least a few advisors with a semblance of concern for the consequences of their policies. These advisors, unlike the rest of their co-workers, may actually care for the good of the country. They have witnessed the catastrophe at our border and have urged for some kind of deterrence to be implemented before the situation becomes an irreversible humanitarian crisis on a level far higher than it is currently.

The other scenario could be that someone in the White House, despite its general dismissal of polls showing Biden at record levels of disapproval, has realized there is good reason to be terrified that its record of far-Left governance and failure will be poison in the upcoming midterm elections. Desperate for a fig leaf to claim it is actually moderate, this White House will point to the wall construction as evidence that it is driven by practical concerns and not appeasement of its fringe radical supporters.

Russian MIL Declares Ukraine Origin of C19! DNC Globalists Created Covid!

The Russian MIL have been studying biological samples from surrendered Ukrainian soldiers, and what they have been finding is beyond disturbing. Approximately 20% of them carrying West Nile pathogens, which were being studied “by the Pentagon as part of the Ukrainian UP-4 and UP-8 projects”. Suggesting that Ukrainian soldiers are being subject to involuntary biological experimentation and exposure to biological weapons (think Nuremberg).

In addition to carrying pathogens, nearly all of the surrendered Ukrainian soldiers carried traces of a wide variety of narcotics and opioids, including Meth and Codeine….

Russia goes on to cite that this methamphetamine Ukraine are using, Pervitin, was also used by US soldiers during Vietnam and Korea. It’s designed to reduce the psycho-emotional burdens of war.

However, an intended side effect is excessive aggression, which Russia alleges is one of the main factors for the Nationalist Ukrainian forces displaying “extreme cruelty” to civilians and the shelling of their own people in Donbas. Ukraine are using mind-numbing agents on their forces to make them more susceptible to carrying out heinous acts.

Something hinky is going on in Ukraine, that’s for sure.

The Brew: If You’re Reading This, World War III Hasn’t Started Yet. Because You Still Have Electricity.

Since election night 2016, when our elites howled at the sky in primal rage that the vulgar, Deplorable people dared to vote against their instructions, the Democrats and their RINO sock puppets have been acting like angry monkeys. They just keep hurling their poop at the wall to see what will stick. What will distract the voters from the fact that arrogant, sneering elites wish to impose viciously unpopular, coercive laws and policies on helpless citizens? Which sleight of hand will work?

From Putin’s alleged hack of our voting machines, to phony Russia collusion, to fake charges against Mike Flynn, all the way to the show trials of the January 6 protestors. It never ends. And our media join the chatter, gibbering excitedly in the hope that this piece of poop or that won’t slide the wall to the floor of their cage. If it does, they just lose interest and root around for the next one.

The Religion of America Is Freedom

American religion is an anthology, not a meld. Like any great collection of fiction, it will be diminished by every story removed. Also, like any good anthology it has a theme. The collection is not random. From the very beginning of American history this place attracted people of many faiths. And it flourished. The distinctions of its religions prompted a political acceptance uncommon elsewhere. Other countries in the Americas attracted diverse populations: Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, for example. But these failed to make good on the possibilities inherent in the differences.

The theme, of course, is freedom. The problems overcome by converting such a theme to practice were manifest in a Constitution. Until recently, all this was accepted as a sort of American dogma. However far we strayed politically, this was the touchstone.

To accomplish a break with this past, those of a different religion—socialism—have set about their work with a diligence that, in retrospect, is breathtaking. Indeed, literally, having taken the breath of many millions in its path. A socialist world order cannot abide a rogue nation offering an alternative of freedom. No other country in the world posed such a threat to the success of their faith. Socialist conferences as long ago as the 19th century recognized this and focused their attention here.

NAHUM 2:1, 3; 3:1-3, 6-7

2 1The shatterer has come up against you. Man the ramparts; watch the road; gird your loins; collect all your strength. 3The shield of his mighty men is red, his soldiers are clothed in scarlet. The chariots flash like flame when mustered in array; the chargers prance. 3 1Woe to the bloody city, all full of lies and booty — no end to the plunder! 2The crack of whip, and rumble of wheel, galloping horse and bounding chariot! 3Horsemen charging, flashing sword and glittering spear, hosts of slain, heaps of corpses, dead bodies without end — they stumble over the bodies! 6I will throw filth at you and treat you with contempt, and make you a gazingstock. 7And all who look on you will shrink from you and say, Wasted is Nin’eveh; who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for her?

DEUTERONOMY 32:35-36, 39, 41

35Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly. 36For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none remaining, bond or free. 39“`See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand. 41if I whet my glittering sword, and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will take vengeance on my adversaries, and will requite those who hate me.

MATTHEW 16:24-28

24Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25For whoever would save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life? 27For the Son of man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay every man for what he has done. 28Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.”

DEAR MAGA: Open Thread 20220804

First things first:

Kari Lake Pulls Ahead in Arizona, Trump-endorsed Candidates Run the Board

As it currently standsTrump-endorsed Blake Masters appears to have easily won the GOP primary in the Senate race and will now face Mark Kelly.  The comprehensively corrupt Rusty Bowers, the Arizona state House speaker who was insistent upon retaining corruption as a political business model – and a favorite of the J6 committee in DC, has thankfully lost his bid for a state senate seat to Trump-endorsed David Farnsworth.

Additionally, Trump-endorsed Kari Lake (pictured above last night) has taken a sizable lead in Governor’s primary race over decepticon Mike Pence-endorsed Karrin Taylor Robson.

Meanwhile, Arizona voters have overwhelmingly selected Trump-endorsed Mark Finchem as their candidate for the secretary of state’s office.  Perhaps Finchem, if he succeeds in the general election, can finally fix the insufferable mess of Arizona elections.

Kari Lake’s victory, if certified, is a profound set-back for the two UniParty wings of the political club.

No doubt RNC Club Chairwoman Heavy McD (Ronna McDaniel) ate a few extra slices of red velvet cake for breakfast before throwing the coffee pot at the trembling concierge hiding behind the spa door.  For the Arizona contest, Ms Kari Lake raised about $3.8 million in mostly small dollar donations, while Ms. Taylor Robson -a billionaire club member- raised more than $18 million. The one thing Arizona voters and Heavy D would agree upon, is that Arizona rebels are revolting.

Although, I do agree with Sundance that the establishment still is entrenched.

The People Have Spoken

Not only did the Trump-backed candidates steal the show; we can see evidence of fraud, and the America First candidates STILL won. Most notably in the AZ Governor race, which is the epicenter of fraud from 2020 (Maricopa County) and the barometer to gauge Trump’s influence going into the midterms.

Pelosi Drawing Attention to Her Own Insider Trading?

The most recent chapter in the Pelosi/Taiwan saga has me perplexed. She’s meeting with Taiwan’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, which confirms A LOT of Trump narratives. Most important of which, is that she is openly engaging in insider trading. It’s like she’s not even trying to hide it.

I would have expected her to do these dealings, but not on the books. But she’s publicly visiting with manufacturers, despite the fact that her insider trading has recently been in the media spotlight and Trump has been putting her on blast for it. Why wouldn’t she lay low? Why wouldn’t she make it so public?

A court of law has finally confirmed it: The 2020 election was “illegitimate.” And all the demands for sufficient evidence of voter fraud to reverse the outcome were a red herring.

Why Is Saying Monkeypox Is a Disease Primarily Suffered by the Homosexual Community a Problem?

For a time, you couldn’t say the vaccines didn’t work. You couldn’t even discuss how other medications might help your COVID-19 infection along. You can’t call a man a man when he thinks he’s a woman. You can’t even call a recession a recession.

Now, our society refuses to label the monkeypox outbreak what it is; a disease primarily suffered by the homosexual community.

Here are the facts.

According to a study in the New England Journal of Medicine, the monkeypox virus is indeed making its way across the nation but 98 percent of those infected are either gay or bisexual men.

Doctors Criticize Fauci for Saying COVID Vaccines Induce ‘Temporary’ Menstrual Irregularities

A master at the slow drip of truth and misinformation, Fauci declined to say more, stating only, “We need to study it more.”

Professional criticism of Fauci’s policies and medical conclusions are mounting. Dr. Christiane Northrup MD, a former fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, told The Epoch Times:

“Unfortunately, the menstrual problems we are seeing are far from transient and temporary. Many women have been bleeding daily or having heavy, irregular, painful periods for an entire year. And some of these are well past menopause. Something is way off here.”

The Epoch Times report also noted the comments of Dr. James Thorp, an “extensively published 69-year-old physician MD board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as maternal-fetal medicine, who has been practicing obstetrics for over 42 years”:

“The significant and dramatic changes in menstrual patterns occurring after COVID-19 vaccines should not be marginalized. It is indicative of major adverse effects on women of reproductive age. The stakeholders claimed that the vaccine would remain at the injection site in the deltoid muscle. This was misinformation.”

The natural thing is bad enough. Now, these monsters have made it worse.

Reading Room picks:

The Covid ‘Vaccine’ Scam

The unvaccinated wanted to know what’s in the “vaccines.”  Are they inactivated vaccines or attenuated vaccines?  No one knows because there are no documents to attest the EUA concoctions are Wuhan wet market sewer water or the biological equivalent of the FDA Approved vaccine or something else, like mRNA.  It is revealing that the pharmaceutical companies have been unwilling to reveal the contents of their mRNA EUA “vaccines.”  They want to wait 75 years before telling anyone.  Dr. Robert Malone, the inventor of the mRNA technology said the vaccine is gene therapy

When you have to be poked, prodded, pressured, persuaded, cajoled, guilt-tripped, shamed, lied-to, coerced, threatened, criminalized, dehumanized, and destroyed, you have a tyrant on your hands.  If all of this is necessary to gain your compliance, then you can absolutely be certain that what is being promoted against your will and common sense—no voluntary informed consent allowed—is not in your best interests.

Ten Conservative Principles

It is not possible to draw up a neat catalogue of conservatives’ convictions; nevertheless, I offer you, summarily, ten general principles; it seems safe to say that most conservatives would subscribe to most of these maxims. In various editions of my book The Conservative Mind I have listed certain canons of conservative thought—the list differing somewhat from edition to edition; in my anthology The Portable Conservative Reader I offer variations upon this theme. Now I present to you a summary of conservative assumptions differing somewhat from my canons in those two books of mine. In fine, the diversity of ways in which conservative views may find expression is itself proof that conservatism is no fixed ideology. What particular principles conservatives emphasize during any given time will vary with the circumstances and necessities of that era. The following ten articles of belief reflect the emphases of conservatives in America nowadays.

Neither a God Nor a Beast

Reflecting on the so-called “death of the novel” and the meaning of art, Vonnegut said that the “practice of art” is “a way to make your soul grow. So you should do it anyway. And what Bill Gates is saying now . . . ” Well, this is where the conversation gets interesting and where it has great relevance for us today.

Vonnegut says, “Gates is saying, ‘Hey, don’t worry about making your soul grow. I’ll sell you a new program and, instead, let your computer grow year after year after year . . .’—cheating people out of the experience of becoming.”

Democrat Logic: Reduce Inflation with More Inflation!

What could be dumber than spending $433B that we don’t have during an inflation crisis? Raising taxes by $739B during a recession, that’s what.

The Big Lies We Cannot Question

The biggest lie allegedly spread by Republicans, now called “The Big Lie,” is to claim the 2020 election was illegitimate. But even if the 2020 election was not compromised due to a relentlessly hostile and partisan media, endless political persecution designed to damage Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, voting rules that were violated and manipulated in swing states, Zuckerbucks, and possibly much more, this assertion still isn’t a Republican “lie.” For better or for worse, there are diverse opinions within the ranks of Republicans. Some think it was a stolen election; others don’t.

JEREMIAH 31:31-34

31“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, 32not like the covenant which I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant which they broke, though I was their husband, says the LORD. 33But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34And no longer shall each man teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, `Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

MATTHEW 16:13-23

13Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesare’a Philip’pi, he asked his disciples, “Who do men say that the Son of man is?” 14And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Eli’jah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” 20Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ. 21From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22And Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying, “God forbid, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” 23But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me; for you are not on the side of God, but of men.”

Mostly Ignored Regulatory Regime of Joe Biden Is Crippling the USA

They Can’t Let Him Back In

The people who really run the United States of America have made it clear that they can’t, and won’t, if they can help it, allow Donald Trump to be president again. In fact, they made this clear in 2020, in a series of public statements. Simply for quoting their words in an essay for The American Mind, I was mercilessly mocked and attacked. But they were quite clear. Trump won’t be president at noon, Jan. 20, 2021, even if we have to use the military to drag him out of there.

“Anti-Trump hysteria is in the final analysis not about Trump.”

If the regime felt that strongly back then, imagine how they feel now. But you don’t have to imagine. They tell you every day. Liz Cheney, Trump’s personal Javert, has said that the 45th president is literally the greatest threat facing America today—greater than China, than our crashing economy, than our unraveling civil society.

Don’t Let Them Reset Society to Make You Into a Bug-Eating Serf

When did it become okay for Americas to live like mere Europeans, to settle, to compromise, to not expect that tomorrow will be better than today? When our country started being run by the pack of establishment weasels that makes up our garbage ruling class. They stopped being loyal to us and started being loyal to a global ideology that demands a “Great Reset” which, when imposed, would leave us impoverished serfs instead of prosperous citizens. But we don’t have to take it, and we’re not going to.

Europeans actually eat rather well.

No, America Isn’t Over

Each of the eras Piereson describes was formed by the creation of a national consensus around a set of policies and cultural imperatives that informed the times, a consensus both major political parties generally wedded themselves to.

Piereson says, in fact, that it’s more accurate to say America has operated on the basis of a one-and-a-half-party system rather than a two-party system through most of its history, because the dominant party will set the agenda for a given era, and the opposition then has no choice but to adapt to the times and take on a “me, too” approach to its search for political power.

JOHN 11:19-27

19and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. 20When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, while Mary sat in the house. 21Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22And even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” 23Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” 25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, he who is coming into the world.”

Everything from sublime to ridiculous today, so diving in.

Some thoughts on Grassley’s strongly worded letter re the government agencies not doing their jobs:

Grassley and Durham Hone in on Their Next Target

Now, it would appear everyone has forgotten, but claims of the FBI/DOJ being corrupt and/or working with the DNC/Deep State, used to be considered kooky Q stuff. Now it’s widely considered as a reality. Just a friendly reminder that this is a proof, not red lines and numerology.

What I find most curious, is the timing of all this; as one of the individuals responsible for falsely labeling the Biden laptop as “disinformation”, FBI supervisory intelligence agent Brian Auten, also happens to be one of the 30 subpoenas issued by the Durham Investigation via the Danchenko trials coming up for his involvement in the 2016 election interference.

Auten interviewed Igor Danchenko, who was the main source of the Steele dossier, used to illegally spy on and smear Trump leading up to and after 2016.

Here Are the Senior Biden Officials Entangled in Durham’s Criminal Russiagate Probe

The months of silence from the special prosecutor do not signify a lack of activity as much as the ability to maintain secrecy, which the CIA is probably envious of.

Current Biden administration members are likely being put under the microscope by Durham’s team of investigators and attorneys.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, for instance, was thrown under by the bus by Clinton’s former campaign manager during Sussmann’s trial.

Clinton Campaign Manager Robby Mook, who managed Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential bid, said she signed off on peddling election disinformation. Mook testified she approved it despite campaign officials not being “totally confident” in the legitimacy of the data….

It ain’t over yet.

The college industry is a waste of money, time and talent. And I’m putting it on trial

My experience founding and growing Turning Point USA into the largest conservative campus organization in the country has given me a unique vantage point into this corrupt world and hardened my conviction that the root of the college tree is rotten to the core. I am very pro-education, but I am most definitely anti-college.

Allow me to submit the evidence.

First, colleges are running a federally sponsored scam, in the most literal sense of the word.

The college industry is heavily subsidized by the federal government, making it a scam not only perpetrated against students, but taxpayers as well.

SOROS-FUNDED SERPENT IDOL TO REPLACE ICONIC ROBERT E. LEE STATUE IN NEW ORLEANS

The historic statue was replaced with a modern sculpture by Simone Leigh called “Sentinel.” The sculpture depicts a snake wrapped around the slender, spoon-like body of a female. The woman is a stylized depiction of the water deity Mami Wata, while the spoon is a symbol of status in Zulu culture.

In a statement, Naima J.  Keith and Diana Nawi, artistic directors of the 2021 New Orleans triennial, wrote: “Ultimately, Simone felt, and we agreed, that because the original placement of the Robert E. Lee atop the pedestal was one of power and domination—the statue loomed over the city, symbolizing the tyranny of white supremacy—that her work should be closer to the level of the individual.”

Mami Wata, also known as Mammy Water or La Sirene, is a water spirit venerated in Africa and the African diaspora in the Americas. Mami Wata spirits are usually female but are sometimes male. Mami Wata is frequently depicted with a snake wrapped around her waist.

According to the pagan beliefs associated with the idol, she demands sexual fidelity from her followers while representing sexuality and promiscuity. Her followers claim that she wants her followers to be healthy and well off, while at the same time, they blame the spirit for misfortune such as treacherous ocean currents or illness. While believed to be infertile, barren mothers often call upon the spirit to cure their affliction.

Reading Room picks:

I was wrong about Trump

I recently wrote a column about why I believed Trump should not run in 2024. I was wrong. I allowed my distaste for Trump’s personality to override his virtues, which are considerable. Some people want Trump without his vices. I was among them — until yesterday, when I watched and listened to Tom Klingenstein’s speech titled “Trump’s virtues.”  It was masterful and shamed me that I did not make the distinction between Trump’s character and his virtues, the former being deeply flawed, the latter being almost perfect.

A Nation of Fools

The average 12-year-old student at a yeshiva has more wisdom than almost any student at Harvard or most other universities. (A yeshiva is an Orthodox Jewish school with an emphasis on religious studies. About half the school day is devoted to religious studies—taught from the original Hebrew sources.)

This is probably true for many 12-year-olds in traditional Christian schools as well.

College students do have more knowledge than almost any 12-year-old in religious school. But they have much less wisdom.

Narcissistic Rage on the Left

What is worrisome today is that the Obama-Biden left now seems to be deliberately adopting narcissistic rage as a weapon of war.  This can’t be pure chance, because the Democrats have a small army of high-paid consultants who write and massage their public messages.  When Liz Warren does her Vladimir Lenin imitation, we can see the professional polish of her act.  Those high-paid media spinners of the left will undoubtedly raise their rhetorical heat higher and higher toward the midterms.  That will not be an accident.  Some of the woke left may be genuinely mad, but there is method in their madness.  Their aim is to make all of us a little more mad.

Most Americans don’t like psychiatric jargon, but we don’t need jargon to feel Hitler’s narcissistic rage in those old speeches, even if we don’t understand the words.  Screaming hatred is a danger signal in everyday life, and it tells us to get away from the screamer as fast as possible.  Hitler’s radio rages were both deliberate and spontaneous: he went on the air to throw spectacular s— fits, and then he improved his act by getting ever more diabolical.

The Dehumanizing Tyranny of Densification

Stated simply, population densification will fundamentally undermine Americans’ ability to preserve their freedom and independence. You don’t have to reference Agenda 2030—about which it is now almost impossible to find any negative commentary online—to understand how easily a population can be controlled when it is relocated and concentrated into a handful of megacities.

What beachfront property says about global warming

Sure, I could have started this by pointing out, as many other observers have, that warmists ex-president Barack Obama and billionaire Bill Gates have recently bought low-lying beach properties.  That certainly seems in conflict with what they claim to believe about global warming and rising sea levels.  But Obama and Gates are human beings.  We human being are often inconsistent.  We sometimes support USC football and UCLA basketball.  Some of us root for both the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys.  We sometime drink more than we know is good for us.

47“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net which was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind; 48when it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into vessels but threw away the bad. 49So it will be at the close of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous, 50and throw them into the furnace of fire; there men will weep and gnash their teeth. 51“Have you understood all this?” They said to him, “Yes.” 52And he said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.” 53And when Jesus had finished these parables, he went away from there,

Climate stuff, or as we call it out here on the fruited plain, summer:

Tucker Carlson Outlines the Current Background of Joe Biden’s Climate Emergency

Saving the Planet, or Themselves?

Bjorn Lomborg’s book False Alarm exposes a host of false claims by environmentalists, including the notion that warming has been producing more storms, drought, and floods.  In fact, all of these have remained at the same level over the past 100 years.  As Lomborg writes, “deaths caused by climate-related disasters have declined precipitously over the past century” (p. 73) — not because of fewer storms, but because increasing wealth has made it possible to protect ourselves from climate events.  The real danger lies in useless spending on climate change that will bankrupt societies and make it impossible for their people to protect themselves.

The global economy has now constructed an entire edifice atop the myth of catastrophic man-made global warming, and activists like Gore collectively have made billions if not trillions of dollars off their predictions of doom.  Environmental activism became a lucrative business, in the form of non-profit revenues and income from corporate consulting.

That seems pretty straightforward, right?

What Exactly Do the Officials Mean by “Managing the Transition”, Here is What They Will Not Say Openly

Economic contraction is the lowering of economic activity.  Raise interest rates -in a general sense- and businesses invest less, borrowers borrow less, consumers purchase less, employers expand less, and the economy overall slows down. When the economy turns negative, meaning less products and services are produced, we enter a recession. Some businesses and employers do not survive a recession and subsequently unemployment rises.

During recessionary periods people buy less stuff, people have less income stability, and economic activity drops.  When the banks raise interest rates into an economy that is already stalled or contracting, unemployment and general pain on Main Street increases.  Workers are laid-off, incomes shrink, consumer spending drops and that leads to less employment.  Recessions are bad for middle-class and working-class people.

However, that said, there is one benefit from a recession…. Energy use drops.

People travel less; businesses operate shorter work schedules; manufacturing stops; overall less goods are produced because less consumer spending is taking place.  From the perspective of the groups who want to see overall energy consumption drop, a recession is a good thing.

Freedom’s Worth the Fight

A friend whose family had farmed the land for many generations once turned to me in the middle of a sweet-corn field and said he couldn’t imagine living in a place where it wasn’t possible for him to get out of bed, walk outside buck naked, and start firing off rounds without consequence.  I nodded in agreement and then reminded him that I’d be there before sunup the next day.  The laugh we shared was a nice respite under the baking sun, but his words have always stuck with me.  I swear, I’ve learned as much in a cornfield as in a classroom.  Maybe hard work and a connection to nature help purify the soul and elevate introspection, but farmers tend to be philosophers.

What my friend was describing, of course, is what we call freedom.  And time after time in my journeys through life, I have stopped in my tracks to realize that I’d sacrificed the freedom of the cornfields for the artificial prisons society likes to construct.  Those are surreal moments — when the mind of a farmer-philosopher kicks in and asks, “Why am I working so hard to lock myself up?”  If you don’t have a good answer to that question, then it’s time to take a step back and choose a new direction.  “No price is too high to pay,” after all, “for the privilege of owning yourself.”

[1] In my bed by night I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, and found him not. [2] I will rise, and will go about the city: in the streets and the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, and I found him not. [3] The watchmen who keep the city, found me: Have you seen him, whom my soul loveth? [4] When I had a little passed by them, I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him: and I will not let him go, till I bring him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that bore me.

EREMIAH 31:10-13

10“Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands afar off; say, `He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.’ 11For the LORD has ransomed Jacob, and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him. 12They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the LORD, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more. 13Then shall the maidens rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.

JOHN 20:1-2, 11-18

1Now on the first day of the week Mary Mag’dalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2So she ran, and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 11But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb; 12and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. 13They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14Saying this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rab-bo’ni!” (which means Teacher). 17Jesus said to her, “Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” 18Mary Mag’dalene went and said to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

SATIRE!

As referenced above.

Have a great weekend.

DEAR MAGA: Open Thread 20220721

To begin, as promised:

Exploding the Watergate Myth

But what ever happened to that earthshaking revelation about covert operations by “the entire U.S. intelligence community”? In the nearly half-century since Watergate, we’ve never heard another word about it. Not from the Post, anyway.

There was always another big question about Watergate: why would the Nixon White House have wanted to burglarize Democratic headquarters in the first place? It was already obvious that Nixon was heading for a landslide victory. He didn’t need any DNC dirt. Even in the movie, an unnamed editor at the Post, played by John McMartin, tells Bradlee: “I don’t believe the story. It doesn’t make sense.” The motive for the burglary remained murky for decades.

While this particular piece itself is all about explaining that “All the President’s Men” didn’t tell the entire story – which it didn’t – the reality is, this is one in a series of pieces, interviews, books, and more that are steady coming together to rehabilitate President Richard Nixon’s reputation. The truth of the matter seems to be that Nixon was really NOT a Washington insider, and the swamp ran him out of town on a rail.

A lawyer from Nixon’s administration, Geoff Shepherd, wrote two books on the matter. From him we learn that “Tricky Dick” was a nickname given to Nixon by a liberal Democrat celebrity he ran against for Congress in 1950. It had nothing to do with his presidential races in the beginning. Nixon was the person in Congress to out Alger Hiss. For this, among the Intelligence Community, he was a marked man. He was not an insider, and neither were the three men known as “the Berlin Wall,” Bob Haldeman, John Mitchell, and John Ehrlichman. They were loyal Nixon people.

All of them had to go, whether the charges were true or not. (They weren’t.)

And now we are seeing Nixon’s legacy reformed. Why? Well, if Juan O. Savin is correct – and word is that he got mouthy about something and was subsequently cut off from juicy information right after he made this claim – Nixon was the one to teach/prime President Trump on how the establishment in the swamp would work to take him down. Richard Nixon died in 1994. If it is true that Nixon did this, President Donald Trump has been in the white hat loop for decades…and Richard Nixon did play a part in THE PLAN.

And those are my thoughts.

Auntie DePat’s requests as we are all supposedly adults and don’t just play them on TV like the body doubles pretending to be the squatter in chief:

WISDOM 8:9-16

9Therefore I determined to take her to live with me, knowing that she would give me good counsel and encouragement in cares and grief. 10Because of her I shall have glory among the multitudes and honor in the presence of the elders, though I am young. 11I shall be found keen in judgment, and in the sight of rulers I shall be admired. 12When I am silent they will wait for me, and when I speak they will give heed; and when I speak at greater length they will put their hands on their mouths. 13Because of her I shall have immortality, and leave an everlasting remembrance to those who come after me. 14I shall govern peoples, and nations will be subject to me; 15dread monarchs will be afraid of me when they hear of me; among the people I shall show myself capable, and courageous in war. 16When I enter my house, I shall find rest with her, for companionship with her has no bitterness, and life with her has no pain, but gladness and joy.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:14-21

14For the love of Christ controls us, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. 15And he died for all, that those who live might live no longer for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. 16From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once regarded Christ from a human point of view, we regard him thus no longer. 17Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come. 18All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20So we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

LUKE 9:1-6

1And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, 2and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal. 3And he said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics. 4And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. 5And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.” 6And they departed and went through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.
