My interpretation of Wolf’s statement “I believe that FIB owns our site now” is somewhat limited. His previous note that “if I’m arrested, nothing publishes” indicates a muzzle. If Wolf were to be arrested, then new posts would possibly halt.
Total ownage would mean complete ownership of the database, including those parts never meant to released (like email addys), any private conversations, any conversations with the site provider, configuration data, and the like. I don’t believe that this is currently compromised.
Unfortunately, you start to learn what is or isn’t compromised once you go down this road…..and it’s ugly.
Basically I cannot schedule anything that publishes after arrest. In principle, other people can publish immediately, but nobody can schedule publications that release on their own.
Scheduling is basically broken for all of us, and only I can release anybody else’s blocked pieces – authors have to release their own pieces.

Now that is weird. Before I refreshed the page I saw two copies of the Highwayman and I did not see the Lady of Shallott at all.
YouTube videos on WordPress do that on some devices. The “image” previews will cascade down the page in other videos to some extent, and will resolve in different ways when the page changes, such as rotation, refreshing, or playing videos.

Having been there, the Caribbean is a bit trippy. GSG has likely been the target of nation-level IT interference. That said, it is in the interest of the black hats to portray the results in the worst possible light. Give it the 48-hour rule to allow the BS to clear.
GSG got offers of support from many in the white hat community who can put together a response (IT, PR, legal, or as needed).
On a practical level, the internet generally doesn’t go away — if you did something, the tracks to that will be available for some time….but the tracks you leave trying to extricate yourself from that single incident may easily lead into other parts of your life.
I did nothing wrong, nor did I break any laws. I am only concerned about identity theft at this point in time.

Over the decades I have had two CC numbers hacked, stolen, whatever. Phony charges to my account. BOTH times I simply had a new CC number issued, while cancelling the old CC number.
Bad charges were dismissed / cancelled.
Do NOT cancel CC or email addys. They are what they are, and cancellation will tag you as “weak” and subject to abuse. If you were to cancel your cc, it’d be better to wait until a statement date, let it sit for some days, call into the cc and go “WTF?”, then report fraud and cancel…..not that I’m recommending this, but I’m saying that any more precipitate action will paint a target.

When I had my breach in 2015, I had been all-in with being an early adopter for a lot of technology. I had to triage everything.
Early on, I identified my Discover Card as being on my side. They straight-up said that I would be able to reverse anything done by my attacker. This gave me an anchor point to pivot from.
My attacker was more interested in mucking with me than trying to financially gain — correctly noting that any financial gain would directly link to criminal prosecution. When I’d rearranged the rest of my finances to where I could re-boot my Discover card, I asked when my account had been last accessed via internet…..and the answer was the previous evening. I’d had no computers with internet access for the previous two weeks.
If you’re ever under attack, you need to carefully evaluate your assets, risks, and defenses. There are plenty of ways of increasing risk, where sometimes moving against one fixed good point can be key.
In many cases your CC company will insist on issuing you a new card; you won’t have to tell them to cancel it.

I really miss those cute valentine’s cards. Kids cards now are are 4 x 2 perforated thin scraps. No real art to them. I have 5 kits my mother got free which she had given me. We were going to do all the cards, somewhere around 150, and give them to seniors and random people to be kind. With my recovery we weren’t able to do them and get out to distribute. We will have to do this next year without fail.

The look on my face must have been something else, because when she looked at me, her face (what I could see of it) fell a foot. She put the stupid heart mask down below, and didn’t say another word about it.
I am FED UP with pretending and trying not to “hurt feelings.” Fuck your feelings, doc. I wouldn’t even BE THERE if I had access to a prescription pad so I could treat myself. Because the doctor never tells ME what is wrong, I tell THEM.

Before I get started on tomorrow’s daily (I found some good stuff, and some really maddening stuff), a quick ground report.
When I got to Church for Holy Hour, there were a couple classes outside at recess. I think there were maybe three kids wearing masks. It was such a joy to see. They were having fun and kicking balls, etc. Then I went inside and the woman who has the slot before me told me that there are parents of school kids clashing with the maskies who are other parents and are now attending Mass elsewhere where the mask thing is “eh.” The Cathedral is the big one for that. The rector there DOES NOT CARE.
Then I ran some errands where the parking lot mounds of snow are slowly melting, and got a text with the second hit of not so great news today. The first was a call from the vet. Ying’s annual bloodwork is back, and at fifteen, she’s starting to show signs of enzyme elevation, which is common. She’s still spunky and a tyrant, so we’re not really worried, but it’s there. Then I found out my friend MB who was diagnosed with ALS last summer is losing her ability to speak. This is a woman who was very involved with the Republican Party locally, and a board member on a local non-profit for mothers and infants in crisis. She’s a VERY good woman, and this is just heart-breaking.
So, that’s where we are as we in the Midwest get ready for the next storm system which is expected later this week.
Update on my friend: word is she has a feeding tube.

A very strange thing happened earlier this afternoon – I sat at my computer and watched the list of news and blog links that I kept on an email page go wonky. The page stayed, but all the links disintegrated and disappeared.
It was no huge loss – and have some earlier lists archived – but I don’t know what happened or why it happened.
I rebooted my computer and cleaned out cookies and other stuff. I haven’t downloaded anything recently and don’t have any signs of a virus. I don’t keep passwords on my computer or use auto-fill or buy online without first emptying cookies and files.
Very likely that an “undo full” function was triggered, OR a refresh function activated without saving. What caused that is unknown.
IMO the best thing to do is to NOT keep it on an email page without occasional copy-and-paste to a text file, or a “save as” on the email page. Then just keep saving over that file.

Interesting facts. No GAS is verified, but most homes in area use PROPANE, tanks are located outside.
