Gold has been jumping up one day each week only to fall the next two days, lately. Well this time the jump was on Friday. Will it drop on Monday and Tuesday? Silver has done slightly better than that on a percentage basis.

I marked him out as having at least some intellectual integrity when he ALONE continued to maintain that a 24 hour sun in Antarctica was big trouble for the flat earth. (OK, it’s possible that Witsit was saying so too.) Every other one of the big YT flerfs was backpedaling before they traveled to Antarctica. Which tells me that they were shifting the goal posts before they should even have known they’d have to (Which is why I am 99% convinced that people like Dubey, “where are the guns” Nathan Oakley, and FE Dave actually know the Earth isn’t flat and are lying for bucks.)

First point – I don’t think that all of the “yes, they’re lying”/knowingly” flerfers are mere grifters. I think some or maybe even many of them are intelligence assets of some kind. I’m just not sure who they are working for, or what side they are on, or WHY this achieves their goals.
Second point – I don’t think Jeran wasted his time. This is one of the best documented cases of somebody being deprogrammed from a “scientific cult”. I think it was a really good thing. His insight on the “religious flerfers” is really good, and really important. I am very glad that the TFE project succeeded in showing that some minds can be changed in flerf world.
SBA needs to be streamlined and return completely to its core mission. Lenders who do not specialize in the industry should have no involvement. All lenders should be trained and certified by SBA prior to participation. So many lenders do questionable loans and slap a guaranty on them with sloppy paperwork. SBA should focus on setting reasonable lending parameters and stringent audits of participants. They should get out of the loan approval business – that’s what participating lenders are better at than them. No active lender desires to deal with excessive defaults and loan servicing issues. Adding SBA approvals and declines into that mix just gums it all up. SBA should review a loan default against policy, review the file for documentation issues, then promptly pay the guaranty upon proof of compliance instead of sitting on them for years at a time. The lender and borrower fees are what are used to pay the guaranty on defaults anyway.
I hope Briggs will do better than the performance of the PPP, which was filled with fraud and corruption. The concept was good, but the execution was poor.

They spend tons of money on training and loaning to small business that consists of kiosks at malls and such; instead of focusing their efforts in the real job creators. They compel active lenders to attend garbage training and rah-rah sessions over subjects most could teach better than all of them combined. They get involved in the disaster stuff that should be relegated to FEMA.
The jobs created or retained required reporting on each financing are swagged and they never verify if either actually happened. The field offices send in the numbers to DC so they can make their pitches for agency funding of staffs comprised of lazy administrative types. The Servicing area throttles recovery of guaranties more than Apple does with their I-tunes streaming. They take care of their inner circle buddies and big banks, but everybody else is left out to dry until they eventually get around to handling what’s in the backlog.
If they were serious and did the programs correctly, the elected officials would force the bank examiners to be dialed in to compelling all lenders to train and participate since the guaranteed loan portions do not count against Tier One capital. That is if their goals were bank stability and less banks going belly up, which it isn’t.
Borrowers prefer conventional financing on worse terms to not have to deal with the excessive documentation and delays. However, if the process were streamlined and the garbage documents/regulations removed, the lenders and borrowers would benefit greatly due to the better terms. It would be the financing of choice for small business and lenders because the repayment terms are extended and there are no loan calls or balloons. Instead they have made it into a bloated administrative state.
I could go into how AI and algorithm credit approaches with lenders and SBA could take it next level and be the envy of the world, but they still use training wheels on the youth cycle.
So basically they’ve been a $$ laundering scam like the rest of the government.

When I was working with the chamber of commerce here, well, for a non-profit fostering entrepreneurship housed there, the angel investing network was busy helping people out, and was working with the state on enterprise zones, and one person was shouting them down with conservative overtures that fed into the class warfare themes. “Why should we pay for it” and all that.
They could have done so much, and now, one of the tech incubators is gone, the building closed, and the people just don’t get how much opportunity was lost.
From the time I was a kid, and ANYONE could start a business with ZERO problems, until now has been one move after another to DESTROY small business.
I can remember housekeepers, laundress, caregivers, baby sitters… All sorts of work that was UNREGULATED. Put an ad in the local paper and off you go. You did not even have to speak much English!
A friend cleaned offices. His business was killed by the insurance companies demanding $$$$ past what he could pay. Hubby was put out of business by Congress after they made single contractors essentially illegal. Now Kelly rents you out at $100/hr and pays you $15/hr. No wonder they are now one of the biggest businesses in the USA!
Now even farming is regulated to death.

This is why I ran into so many headwinds in lobbying for the industry BIMD. Big business and banks hate SBA and its lenders. They hate small businesses. They lend to them to the least extent possible to just satisfy government regulations.
Take my last employment before retiring. Tell me how a small rural community bank of less than $300 million in assets became the 15th largest SBA lender in America in less than 5 years at over $400 M in loan volume annually? We had more SBA loan volume that NYSE banks we competed against. We sold the guaranteed loan portions into the secondary markets. The only big bank with more that I remember was U.S. Bank and it was because they bought a small bank SBA lender and handed the keys to them to keep it going.
Prior to that each employer bank I worked with was bought by a mega bank in the top 20 in asset size in the nation. We did twice or more the SBA loan volume than those banks did at less than 10% of their asset size.
Our NYSE Inglewood, CA business bank was bought by giant Comerica Bank two decades ago. Guess who had infinitely more SBA loans in annual volume and on the books? Yup, us. Guess who was given control of the merged operation? Yup, them. We left.
Prior to that we had a top 10 SBA lending operation out of a bank of about $750 M in assets. The bank was sold to Bank of the West, which was owned by a giant French banking conglomerate. BOW had a grand total of $3 M in loans on the books while we had $200 M in annual volume alone. Guess who was given control of the merged operation? Yup, them. Again – we left.
Which banks were actually looking out for We the People and small businesses? Yup.
Still chafes my azz remembering it.
Just as a side note, when Hyperion acquired Brio, a company that was much smaller, the acquisition contract provided that 75% of the redundancies eliminated would come from Hyperion.
[When you merge two companies, you end up with two Corporate Controllers, two tax departments, two accounting departments — essentially two sets of administrative personnel. While the merged company might need some more admin than the larger company had previously, most of these people are duplicative…..”redundant”.]
Obviously, the selling shareholders at Brio probably had to give up something in order to have that provision included, but it was stunning how rapidly the Directors of Hyperion threw their own people overboard to make the deal happen.

Okay folks, vitamin C issue. My body simply isn’t adjusting to the mega doses, and is causing other issues. So, I’m going to lay off for a bit. The bloating is causing some real issues.
Otherwise, some systems are getting back to normal. In fact, I didn’t notice one of them until it came back. Hopefully, when the bloat goes down (it does every time I miss a day of vitamin C) some of the other issues will ease.
You do not need the mega dose and your body is telling you that. I can not tolerate past 500 mg so that is what I go with. On the other hand I eat a lot of fruit.

Liposomal Vitamin C will not cause that problem. It is much more expensive though.
I have been using the Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C, not all Liposomal products out there are the real thing.

Odd, I wouldn’t have expected bloat — large amounts of C tends to get flushed from the body, either through the kidneys or as “enhanced stool motility”…..it’s usually more conducive to dehydration than bloating.

It is true that very large amounts of Vitamin C can “backfire” (no pun intended) on the body. On the other hand, the body does need to take some amount of Vitamin C daily. I don’t know how large an amount you were taking. Perhaps you could try a couple of glasses of orange juice plus a 500mg tab (or smaller — a 250mg tab? a 100mg tab?) Vitamin C supplement a day? Are you taking a daily multivitamin that has Vitamin C already in it?
(BTW, I take all of my vitamins / supplements either as chewables, or crushed up tabs that are mixed into yogurt.)

I was stuck at Wal-Mart customer service forever so was watching their screen ads. They have money services, Wal-Mart to Wal-Mart transfers are $4 in the US, $2.50 to Mexico, & Wal-Mart to the World (200+ countries & territories) is $3. So we in the US pay the highest service fees & sending funds to Mexico is lowest. I wonder if they set it up that way deliberately to facilitate $ transfers by illegals back to Meh-hee-ko? 🙄
