The Ryman Auditorium, in Nashville, TN, was built for preaching. It is known as the High Church of Country Music, and so many videos and television shows have featured it that you might recognize it even if you’ve never been there. It is unusual in that its seating is all church pews instead of factory orchestral seats.
Years after the War Between the States, a bunch of Confederate veterans contacted the Ryman to have a meeting there. It’s not clear whether “the heads of state of China and the United States” planned this particular meeting or sanctioned it, but this article seems to indicate that Chao at least had the blessing of the U.S. for this meeting.
Timeline:
June 12 – Chao is in China visiting Jiao Tong University.
June 14 – McConnell has a health crisis and is hospitalized.
June 17 – Chao is still in China, meeting with the VP on a state-sanctioned mission.
~June 21 – McConnell is reported to be working while hospitalized, but it is said he will not be voting. (To my knowledge, senators have to be present to vote.)
Reporting is abysmal about Chao’s China trip. Possible scenarios:
• When she heard about McConnell’s crisis and did not postpone her meeting with the Chinese VP to return to the U.S., it was because she had been told that McConnell was not in grave danger. It’s possible that she had talked with him and with his doctors.
• Or, if he was in grave danger, she callously continued with her plans, despite appearances.
It seems likely that people in our government, if not Sec. of State Rubio himself, knew about her China VP meeting. At the very least, someone knew that she was in China while Mitch was in the hospital. I can’t imagine there not having been communication about both his condition and her mission to China.

Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday–Happy 250th America!
Ours was rather strange as our neighborhood had a power outage from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Thankfully Hubby got our generator going & brought the window A/C unit down to the main floor so we weren’t completely roasting & our fridge & freezer had power (most of the time). We couldn’t use electronics because it’s “dirty” power so I missed watching festivities & checking in with our great Tree. We did have a lively Cribbage game one evening & I’m still working on a new puzzle, which was a treat 🙂
Later today I have a brief phone call with an Estate Attorney, so I’d appreciate prayer for that event & the ongoing issues being addressed w/ my dad’s estate.
Josiah made some decisions about his SSI case & his wife is really upset with him. I’d appreciate prayer for him, for wisdom going forward & for favor as we work with Social Security to try to straighten out his case that hasn’t been properly handled for 4 1/2 years (while his wife was his Rep Payee). J has decided to be his own Payee, but we have to yet get a doctor’s sign off on his capabilities. It’s complicated & emotionally fraught for him & Hubby & I are trying to help him deal with the fall out…interesting times…
It’s been Very Hot in our area for most of last week, near the 100s most days. It was pretty rough to have power go out on such steamy days. Thankfully it’s dropped down into the 70s overnight. Hubby & I both have to be careful with heat having both had heat exhaustion/stroke in previous years so we’re both more susceptible than before. Michael’s typical box truck can be blazing hot in the cargo area & he doesn’t sweat well so needs to take precautions against overheating. Hopefully this week the temps will be more reasonable, but we’ll see.

I remember when NAFTA went into effect. Our factory was making infant and children’s sleepwear which HAD TO BE flame resistant. the stuff now coming in from mexico was only required to be flame retardant.
Flame resistant not only resists ignition, but will also self extinguish. Flame retardant material slows down or inhibits the spread of flames.
Our fabric held it’s flame resistant properties throughout multiple washings while flame retardant fabric loses those properties over multiple washings. Accordingly our fabric was more expensive and therefore we couldn’t compete with the cheaper stuff coming in from Mexico.
To be fair, their tags were not deceptive, but if you didn’t know the difference between the resistant and retardant, you’d choose the cheaper garment.

VAXELIS was approved by the FDA back in 2018, and the agency sent the most recent approval recertification letter to Sanofi Pasteur in March 2026.
Here’s the deal:

Salk was quoted as saying that there were other unnecessary adjuvants besides aluminum.

Granddaughter graduated business/Computer analyst. I also was put into OSU research program Genomic Health (Helix research) The results are negative DNA test for cancer and all tests they did. Also got an MRI at OSU also negative and they still do not know what happened to me last year. Life goes . Prayers helped thank you to this great forum members. Love you all 💖

Coffee protects against some major diseases
“For a while, scientists suspected that drinking coffee was hazardous to your health. But hundreds of studies have painted coffee in a different light, showing that it may be protective against some major diseases,” reports The Washington Post.
As it notes, “coffee has wide-ranging effects on your health. Coffee contains more than 1,000 chemical compounds.” In the past, some scientists thought coffee was bad for your health and increased the risk of bladder cancer or lung cancer. 35 years ago, the the World Health Organization listed coffee as “possibly” carcinogenic.
But claims that coffee caused cancer were wrong, and were due to mistaking “correlation for causation.” Smokers “also tend to drink a lot of coffee — and in many of the early studies, a large percentage of the coffee drinkers were also smokers. Once studies took this into account, the link between coffee and lung and bladder cancers essentially disappeared.” Since then, hundreds of studies have found that coffee “may be protective against some major diseases, including several cancers.”
A meta-analysis by medical researchers looked at 67 different health outcomes and found that for most adults, daily coffee consumption was “more likely to benefit health than harm” it. “On average, the analysis found, people who drink several cups of coffee a day are nearly 20 percent less likely to die early compared with people who drink little or no coffee.”
Studies have consistently found “that drinking coffee is good for your liver,” according to Rob van Dam, a professor at George Washington University. For example,
“One study published in 2021, for example, followed nearly a half million adults for roughly 11 years and found that coffee drinkers had a 21 percent lower risk of developing chronic liver disease and a 49 percent lower likelihood of dying” from it. “The reduction in risk was associated with an intake of as little as one cup of coffee daily, but people who consumed between three and four cups per day saw the greatest benefits.”

This report is full of hyperbole. I’m not saying that some or all of these allegations are not true; I’m saying that IMO it’s irresponsible to state they are true until facts are known.
The fact that a eulogy for McConnell was prewritten means nothing. Media outlets prepare such articles all the time, and sometimes they get published in error.
Benny Johnson: “We’re hearing reports that Mitch McConnell is brain-dead in the hospital.” Supposedly from “high-level people inside the government and inside the Trump WH.” Then if they are at high levels, those people should be able to communicate with the Senate and with McConnell’s family.
BJ says McConnell was taken to the hospital “totally unresponsive and unable to communicate.” I have not seen such a report anywhere. McConnell required advanced life support, so maybe he was uncommunicative, but assumptions are being made.
BJ says he’s been in the hospital a month, when it has actually been 3 weeks and 1 day (closer to 3 weeks than a month).
At 4:10 he states the error that everyone else is repeating, that Elaine Chao went to China after McConnell’s hospitalization. Later: “Mitch McConnell’s wife did literally flee to China…” No, she didn’t. She was already there, as I pointed out earlier.
