Dear MAGA: 20261013 ❀ DePat Tuesday ❀ Open Topic | Did Amy Acton Help Light the Federal Fires of COVID Doomerism?

This DePat Tuesday Open Thread honors the author of the original Tuesday open thread on this site, namely the late Susie Sampson, a.k.a. Deplorable Patriot, among her other handles, pen names, etc.

For more on the untimely passing of Dear DePat, please see these three posts.

At one time, DePat handled FOUR daily open threads here, in addition to taking care of her relatives, choir duties, and numerous other responsibilities. She was a powerhouse – a dynamo – a true force of nature.

DePat’s faith in Trump, Q, “The Plan”, the White Hats, and “the anons” in general, was legendary. Although I didn’t always agree with her quick acceptance of some sketchier evidence and fringier theories, I will gladly admit to “coming around” to numerous so-called “conspiracy theories” which she championed first. I was always careful to give her credit for being right, too, when I had been wrong.

It is impossible to overstate how much DePat did for not only this site, but for her country. I urge all to say a quick prayer of thanks, whenever you think of her, for the privilege of knowing, in life or after death, such an exemplary human being, and lover of God.

And thank you, Susie, for the firm foundation which you left us, when you were called to your true home!

Did Amy Acton Help Light the Federal Fires of COVID Doomerism?

TL;DR –

In my opinion, the answer is yes, and I suspect that you will find the full answer fascinating.

Everybody in Ohio knows that Amy Acton – DOCTOR Amy Acton – a.k.a. “Lockdown Amy” – is why Ohio locked down for COVID, and why so many of Ohio’s local restaurants and other businesses closed down, never to return.

But what most people don’t know, is that Amy also apparently had a role in influencing the White House to join the party to “flatten the curve”.

Don’t take my word for it – take the word of Amy Acton’s own staff members, as I will explain in detail, below.

Background

I recently posted about a couple of Amy Acton videos, and how they were evidence of “two Amy Actons” – (1) the real one, who talks like a drunk and curls up on a fetal position on the floor of the restroom – and (2) the imaginary one created by her staff and party – the one who is competent, the heroine of the COVID years, and has zero issues.

As I noted in that post, both videos are a bit tragic.

In the first video, by the New York Times, we see some of the cringiest left-wing media propaganda ever. It’s like an ad for Kamala’s Best Nutritious Word Salad – made in California. Yes – Amy Acton sounds like Kamala’s lost sister. The vocal similarity is uncanny, and I would not be surprised if white wine coolers are to Plame. Blame. Whatever.

Not to say that the CIA is definitely involved here, but Acton was clearly being made a heroine for adopting the left’s favorite captured agency’s COVID panic control script, while authentically heroic character seems a bit lacking.

Here’s the video.

https://www.nytimes.com/video/opinion/100000007111965/coronavirus-ohio-amy-acton.html

If you watched the whole thing, congratulations. I was repeatedly cringing out, every time I tried to watch.

The second video is a lot more fun. Amy Acton is quite lovable in it, but in a way that makes her absolutely unfit for higher office. I can’t tell if she’s tipsy, floating on Xanax, or just high on her 15 minutes of fame, but there is no way such a woman can be allowed into the Ohio Statehouse as anything but a tourist, or perhaps as a mom testifying on an educational issue, where a courage drink or two is socially acceptable for first-time speakers, as long as they have a designated driver.

What’s most interesting, however, is that the TRANSCRIPT doesn’t match the video at all. And while it’s not really a problem that Amy’s staff chose not to document her rambling, emotional, and sometimes incoherent, group-hug psychobabble, what IS interesting is what they released in its place.

Tell me if this doesn’t sound like Amy Acton single-handedly saved America from COVID-infected J6-er kidnappers, and was personally responsible for Trump choosing to follow her advice to BE A HERO, locking down and flattening the curve!

https://scholarlycommons.law.case.edu/healthmatrix/vol34/iss1/3

Yes – according to Amy Acton’s aides and handlers, SHE was responsible for Trump doing the right thing on COVID.

In the midst of several pages of breathless, Barnes & Noble-grade COVID doomerist “historical fiction”, this paragraph appears…..

During the last week of February, as the stock market crashed for
the second time, I was at the White House as a Health Department
Director representing the entire Midwest for the Association of State
and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO). Mick Mulvaney, the
President’s Chief of Staff, and some of the best people who have served
multiple presidents were in attendance. One bioterrorism expert was
literally shaking. But they were still not talking about the disease on
the news. Even though I had taught global health for years, I Googled
the word “pandemic.” I could not understand why we were not using
the word. We went around the room, and each person gave their best
virology and epidemiology advice. When it was my turn, most had been
said, but I was struck by what was not being said to the country. Just
like everyone else, I was longing to hear the hard truth. So I told Mr.
Mulvaney, “Please tell the President that this is the higher angel’s
moment. The people need to hear from him.” This is that FDR,
Winston Churchill moment where communication is vital, and my gut
sense was that we really needed the President to make meaning out of
all we were facing. To help us bear the shared sacrifices, we needed
someone to lead the war. Only this time, the entire world was on the
same side.

UGH!!!

Some of that account may be a bit self-serving, but the point is, THIS was a moment when both COVID doomerism and “the opportunity for heroic response” were pushed on POTUS, and yes – Amy Acton was there, helping it happen.

Dramatically or not. Sober or not.

Now, I wasn’t ready to believe this statement without at least a wee bit of validation – so I chose to find out what Mick Mulvaney might have to say about that era now. And he does indeed have a lot to say.

It seems clear to me that Mulvaney fell for what most of us fell for – the possibility that we were dealing with something comparable to SARS, MERS, Ebola, and all that jazz. That we were dealing with an exotic “coronavirus” with double-digit mortality in young adults – NOT with something that had a very normal flu-like mortality curve – like all influenza-like illnesses, including the known, endemic, human coronaviruses.

Once the real numbers came out – once I saw those real numbers in public – it should have been over – but the Democrats just kept pretending, to the power-enthralled audience of their captured states and institutions.

Amy never corrected herself on this error. Trump, Vivek, and even I did. Some sooner than others.

SO – does Ohio REALLY want to elect this ditzy, pretending, overly dramatic broad to be governor? “Lockdown Amy” Acton?

PLEASE. Let’s be serious here.

W

And remember…….

Until victory, have faith!

And trust the big plan, too!

And as always….

ENJOY THE SHOW

W

QUOTE:

The Christian church is older than its New Testament books. This shouldn’t surprise us since the New Testament was written by people who were a part of the first-century church. The events recorded in the Gospels are older than the text of the Gospels. Again, nothing unusual here.

What if I told you, though, that in the New Testament there are passages that are older than the New Testament? Obviously, Old Testament passages quoted in the New Testament precede it, but that’s not what I’m referring to.

Within the New Testament books are early Christian creeds that predate the books themselves. These creeds show us what the earliest Christians believed and which doctrines existed from the inception of the church.

Let’s look at one of these creeds and see why scholars are convinced it predates the book it’s quoted in.

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles. (1 Corinthians 15:3–7)

There are many reasons to believe this passage isn’t something Paul was writing for the first time to the Corinthian church.

First, Paul tells us he “delivered” this information to the Corinthians when he visited them prior to writing his letter. He also says he “received” this statement, meaning he isn’t the original author.

Second, this statement has a poetic cadence to it. Although 1 Corinthians was originally written in Greek, even our English translations reveal this rhythm: “that Christ died…that He was buried…that He was raised…that He appeared.” Also notice the repetition of the phrase “according to the Scriptures.” These patterns make creeds easy to remember.

Third, there are words and phrases in this passage that Paul doesn’t use in his own writings. Phrases like “according to the Scriptures,” “he was raised,” and “on the third day” aren’t used by Paul anywhere else. Also, though Paul uses the word “sin” in the singular form 64 times in his writings, in this passage he uses the plural form (“Christ died for our sins”), which is unusual for him.

Historians are convinced that 1 Corinthians 15:3–7 is an early Christian creed Paul is reminding the Corinthians of. He says he received it, it has the clear rhythm and cadence of a creed, and there are phrases and words in it that are absent or rare in the rest of Paul’s writings. This creed isn’t something Paul invented; it existed prior to his writing of 1 Corinthians (AD 53–55) and even prior to his eighteen-month visit to Corinth (Acts 18).

scott467

Why does the author require the existence or use of creeds?

If a creed says less than what God’s Word says, is it not insufficient, by definition?

If a creed says more than what God’s Word says, does it not go beyond, without Authority?

If a creed says the same as God’s Word, is it not redundant and unnecessary?

_______________

Is Paul repeating something he received of men? Perhaps from men in the very early church, who thought it up themselves, because it seemed good to them, and it somehow found its way into Scripture?

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16, KJV)

A couple of other verses:

“For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 1:12, KJV, boldface mine)

“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: [24] And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.” (1 Corinthians 11:23-24, KJV, boldface mine)

Now for the passage referenced in the article:

………………….
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4, KJV, boldface mine)
…………………..

In the first two passages, Paul uses the word ‘received’ to indicate that he did not receive it from Toby, or Stan, or George, or Roy — he received it by revelation of Jesus Christ. Paul received it ‘of the Lord‘.

In the third passage, the one referenced in the article (1 Corinthians 15:1-4), ‘received’ is used twice, first in regard to the gospel (not any man-made creed), which the Corinthians had also received, and second, it was the same gospel which Paul had received.

………………..
“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13, boldface mine)
………………..

The Obama Death Star Is Out Of Hope
comment image
“Obama was expert at self-promotion and self-aggrandizement…He could never explain to even his friends what he did as a “community organizer” in Chicago.
With that non-management background, it’s hardly surprising things have already taken a nosedive at his presidential library that isn’t. The Daily Mail reports:”

Barack Obama is facing a fresh humiliation at his ‘eyesore’ presidential center with workers slamming the project’s bosses and moving to unionize just months after it opened.

In a letter to colleagues this week, staff at the Chicago library said they were organizing a union due to the institute’s ‘increasing workloads’ and benefit rollbacks.

Workers have grown frustrated with leadership at Obama’s foundation after their concerns were met with ‘vague responses,’ according to the letter, first shared by the Chicago Sun-Times.

Issues with workloads and benefits have led to a ‘high turnover rate’ among employees, with many more ‘continuing to leave (and) taking with them their institutional knowledge and expertise,’ the letter claimed.

Workers say they were recently told that their healthcare costs would increase, promotions were suspended, and paid time off was reduced, despite also learning they would get no pay increases this winter.

Luke Gilday, an Obama Foundation employee and member of the union organizing committee, told the Sun-Times that workers decided to unionize because they ‘don’t even have a seat at the table.’

‘What we’re hoping for, and really the reason why we’re forming our union, is just because we believe we should have a say in the decisions that are being made that impact all of our lives,’ Gilday said.

…Several subcontractors claimed they were owed millions in past-due invoices, and African American Contractors Association president Omar Shareef said several workers told him they ‘wished they had never done (the project).’

“…What’s most likely happening is that after funding a $550 million cost overrun on the building, donors aren’t interested in ponying up another dime. What money is left is being siphoned off by Obama cronies, leaving barely enough to keep the doors open, breaking promises made to the staff foolish enough to believe in The Light Bringer.
Is there enough public interest in visiting the monument to the greatness of Barack to keep it afloat? Did I even need to ask that question?”

What happens if it is not “kept afloat”?

What happens if it is not “kept afloat”?

The city decides to use it as the world’s largest trash can.

scott467

That will be easy. I already think of it as the world’s largest trash can 👍😁

“‘What we’re hoping for, and really the reason why we’re forming our union, is just because we believe we should have a say in the decisions that are being made that impact all of our lives,’ Gilday said.

You do have a say. You can get together, and agree to quit, to walk off the job, at the worst possible time for your miserable overlords.

“…Several subcontractors claimed they were owed millions in past-due invoices,”

That’s what courts are for, i.e., to file ‘claims’.

So hop to it.

“and African American Contractors Association president Omar Shareef said several workers told him they ‘wished they had never done (the project).’ ”

Always liked Omar, he was great in Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and Doctor Zhivago (1965), and my favorite, The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976). Haven’t seen him much recently, now I know why.

Good to see he’s keeping busy.
