Speaking of toilet ballchains, I replaced the kit.
It came with instructions.
This type of toilet has a flapper valve attached to the ballchain, but some distance up the chain there is a yellow foam float that’s attached inline, then it proceeds up to a hook. The handle, however, has a press-in area, so the hook just hangs there.
Anyway, step 1 on the instructions is to look-up your toilet number (16 kinds, all reading 738XXX-0070A), then look on their little chart to find out how many beads there should be between the flapper and the float (between 1 and 18). Since nothing at my house should ever be easy, I found the number stamped into the clay on the inside of the tank, but it had been stamped into very wet clay and had slumped — right where the X’s are.
I then counted the balls between flap and float on the OLD unit and got 11, so I went with that (implies that XXX would be 159, but I didn’t try to verify).
Since I was changing the flapper, I did a quick wipe of the flapper’s seat. It was quite rough and I didn’t bother to polish it…..as that could become another rabbit hole. All told, this subproject went quite rapidly.
Chapter 3 tomorrow? 😂

Michigan rest areas often have local community organizations providing free coffee & treats on holiday weekends. One time we stopped & struck up a conversation with an old timer who turned out to be an Eagle Scout. Just after speaking for maybe 5 minutes he gave Hubby his card, because he was also an Eagle Scout, & basically said he could call him at any time for any reason, like a brotherhood of Eagle Scouts or something–mind-blowing to me! This “dude” had a serious ring on & it turned out it was a Super Bowl Championship Ring from Super Bowl I–Wow!!!
Let’s just say “No Comment” on any potentially doxxing history there! 😅

🚨Policy Obstruction in the Department of War🚨
Why do woke General Officers continue to get promoted while reinstatement of unlawfully discharged personnel continues to stagnate and go nowhere (despite President Trump’s EO to expedite their reinstatement)?
Meet Stephanie Miller, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Military Personnel Policy for the Department of War and architect of the military’s previous Diversity and Inclusion program.
Stephanie is an SES who oversees the “full spectrum of human resource policies for over two million military personnel serving in the Department of War.”
Stephanie is in charge of accession policy, personnel management, General and Flag Officer promotions and retention, and more.
According to Stephanie’s bio, she served in “a variety of executive positions throughout the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel Policy,” to include leadership positions as the DoD Director of Diversity and Inclusion Management.
In addition to serving as a special assistant to SECDEF Ashton Carter, under whose tenure, in January of 2016, announced that “the Department of Defense opened all military roles to women, overriding a request by the Marine Corps to continue to exempt women from certain positions. In June 2016, Carter announced that transgender individuals would be allowed to join and openly serve in the military,” also served as Deputy Director for Navy Diversity and in a leadership position as the DOD Director of Diversity and Inclusion Management.
Stephanie served as a special assistant to SECDEF Chuck Hagel, who oversaw sequestration and in 2013 during a visit to Asian countries, stated his “main doubt was American staying power in the region. Hagel called the decline of American military power a “good thing”, because it forced American allies to share responsibilities. On July 31, 2013, Hagel announced the results of his Strategic Choices and Management Review, undertaken in response to the budget sequestration in 2013. One of the options he highlighted was to reduce the navy’s aircraft carrier groups down from 11 to as little as eight.
Under Stephanie’s leadership, military recruiting dropped to an all time low in the entire history of the all volunteer force from 2022-2024. Multiple branches failed to achieve recruiting numbers for the first time since the draft ended in 1973.
Stephanie has been an advisor to, and architect of, every decision in the military over the last decade and a half that has harmed military readiness and overall military strength.
As the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Personnel Policy, all accession and General Officer promotions run directly through her. You need not ask yourself why woke Flag Officers continue to accelarate through promotions, and personnel seeking reinstatement for unlawful discharges continue to run into red tape and road blocks. The answer is clear.

DEI and the Crisis of Trust
I’ve seen a lot of flak on my timeline lately about DEI and senior leaders awaiting Senate confirmation. Let me take a stab at explaining why.
If a military leader openly supported DEI, they knowingly subscribed to an ideology that weakened their formation. If they did so unknowingly, that only proves incompetence. Either way, such men and women should not be entrusted with greater command.
The recruiting crisis didn’t come out of nowhere. American parents had to hold their breath every day, praying their sons and daughters could finish contracts unscathed, knowing their lives might be risked for the sake of politics. Some weren’t so lucky.
That’s why the anger you see is real. Americans are right to question whether DEI is truly dead. Rest assured: in policy, it is dead in the Department of War. But suspicion lingers because culture always outlives paper.
DEI is a cancer. And its adherents cling to it with religious zeal. What Americans demand is simple: generals and admirals who will never again sacrifice their troops on the altar of political expedience. Leaders whose loyalty is to the Constitution, not ideology.
The tragedy is that the bar is now so low for officer integrity that if even one senior leader publicly apologized for backing DEI, they’d be hailed as a folk hero. But no one should have to hold their breath waiting for honesty from those sworn to lead.
The American people don’t just want DEI gone. They want guarantees that the leaders of their sons and daughters have the courage to admit error, reject corruption, and fight only for victory and the Constitution. Nothing less will do.

They almost all openly supported DEI. The parallels to the covax mandate can’t be overstated. The culture will continue to outlive the paper until investigations are conducted into both issues to develop common understanding of the functional impact of these policies. As it stands, the people who supported them will continue to believe that they did the right thing, and they won’t perceive this difference of opinion between themselves and current civilian leadership as ideological, but practical and functional.
Let me share an anecdote to explain. I was once asked by the senior officer in my career field something I was passionate about in the Army, and I told her “ending DEI”. She responded immediately that increasing diversity improved the performance of organizations citing the fraudulent/nonreplicating McKinsey studies as proof of this assertion. I replied that, first of all, it is unconstitutional so it can’t be justified on performance grounds, and that second, those studies failed to replicate so their findings simply can’t be accepted. I got more or less an eye roll, and flat out ignored on this point when I sent her the study that demonstrated her assumption that targeting diversity increases organizational performance was based on bad science.
You can write up and push out the best policy in the world, but the people expected to execute think they’re smarter than you. They’re still confident they’ll be able to get back to business aligning military and progressive norms once more “experienced” civilian leadership is back in charge. Like Milley, they see themselves as the true supporters of the Constitution who understand progressive norms achieve both functional and societal imperatives in equal measure. I’d like to believe that some of them are agile enough to change their minds if these assumptions are challenged, but I haven’t seen them being challenged. They’re being told “DEI is wrong” by people THEY don’t trust. If we’re going to all get on the same page, I think the topic needs more time and attention. To start, perhaps encourage everyone to review Green and Hand’s “McKinsey’s Diversity Matters/Delivers/Wins Results Revisited” and discuss.

Excellent! That under-arm early morning temperature test is the first test I was told to do before realizing I was hypothyroid. My average temp at that time was around 95.8. Pretty obvious what the problem was! But it wasn’t an allopathic doctor that recommended the test, but a chiropractor who suspected the problem. Modern doctors are clueless about thyroid. They only check your TSH, which doesn’t tell the whole story at all. And the only treatment they’re going to give you is levothyroxine, which doesn’t work for many people. I still use the Dr. Broda Barnes temp test on occasion to see where I’m at.

Yes, I’m using a natural dessicated thyroid similar to Armour. I’ve used different ones over the years, but they are all the actual hormone, not a synthetic of just T4. So they have all the thyroid hormones in them.

I grew up in the Deep South. When I was twelve, my mother took me to Merle Norman for the “makeover.” The resulting makeup stash cost over $100, and that was in 1976! Of course, as a committed tomboy, I refused to use any of it.
I also knew families whose daughters were “pageant girls,” starting at three or four years old. Full makeup, hair, dress, all of it. It was sickening.
Our culture seemingly became obsessed with “beauty” for the “average” girl with the advent of mass media. There were “Gibson Girls” and pin-up models that women attempted to emulate. And it has only worsened over time. I don’t know how we avoid it in the over-hyped world of media and money.
Yeah, it definitely goes back.
Now that I look back on it, I feel like the Jonbenet Ramsey case was – in the long run – used to normalize that stuff.

My friend’s mom took me to Merle Norman too, small world. I had a teacher tell me to use the foundation base to cover up acne in Junior High. I used it for a very brief time, just not my thing.
Fast forward to college & my first roommate was Extremely self-conscious about acne scars on her face. She refused to allow people to see her without makeup & wore very heavy foundation to hide her skin issues. She was incredibly cute & petite & had dates about every weekend but 2 that year. I basically had a date only for 2 weekends LOL
That same year one of my friends, a dancer & actress, gave me a basic makeover with makeup & hairstyling. I went to the cafeteria dolled up & had guys I knew basically falling at my feet with their tongues hanging out. It really grossed me out that these guys were only interested in my “fake face”. That whole scene was a hard pass for me!

The Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Board of Immigration Appeals, the nation’s top panel for interpreting federal immigration law, is making clear that illegal aliens living in the United States are subject to mandatory detention, as required by the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).
Late last week, the Board of Immigration Appeals made the sweeping clarification as part of a ruling in a case involving an illegal alien from Venezuela who made an appeal to the board after he was denied a bond hearing by a federal immigration judge.
In its review of the matter, the Board of Immigration Appeals made clear that illegal aliens living in the United States are subject to mandatory detention and therefore ineligible for a bond hearing before a federal immigration judge.
“The issue presented on appeal is one of statutory construction: Does the INA require that all applicants for admission, even those like the respondent who have entered without admission or inspection and have been residing in the United States for years without lawful status, be subject to mandatory detention for the duration of their immigration proceedings, and thus the Immigration Judge lacks authority over a bond request filed by an alien in this category?” the Board of Immigration Appeals wrote.
The ruling further states:
In a statement to the Los Angeles Times, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said the decision is a “big win for our [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] attorneys securing our ability to detain illegal aliens until they are deported.”
ICE officials, in July, issued a memo clarifying that illegal aliens are not eligible for bond hearings under the INA because they are subject to mandatory detention.

I lay at your feet the things I’m struggling with and I implore you Lord to free my mind of concerns. Remind me please to take deep breaths and trust that you can make a way even when the path is not visible to me. Father, please lead me to refreshing Scriptures when I feel anxiety approaching. Holy Spirit fill me with the serene peace and joy of the Lord. Amen
