I Avoided a Heart Attack by Cleaning 20 Years of Clogged Arteries — Dr Ford Brewer MD MPH. (35 minutes)

This is another look at health and in someways compliments yesterday’s article. In both cases both doctors promote a Keto diet and avoiding sugar/starches/carbs. Dr Ford Brewer is more of an establishment physician having worked for years at Johns Hopkins “training the other doctors there in prevention.

TRANSCRIPT

Let me tell you a story. It’s about what happened to me. At age 57, this is 11 years ago. I found out I had the arteries of a 73 yr old 16 years older than me. I had no idea. I thought I was like this close to the kind of heart attack [finger & thumb almost touching – GC] You know, [with] heart attacks, 50% of them have no symptoms until boom, you’re dead. And it’s like that really upset me because, I thought I was the picture of health. I ran marathons. I avoided eating fats, which again, both of these things we thought at the time to be the best practices for heart health. And still, that test said I was walking around with a ticking time bomb in my chest. But here’s the thing. I didn’t quit. I fought back. After a year, I turned those arteries into the arteries of a 52 year-old.

Now, look at this. [Shows a CIMT non-invasive ultrasound machine -GC] This is the most advanced heart scan in the world at this point in time and it shows my dangerous plaque is basically gone. [Shows his results for right Coronary Artery – GC] That means my risk for a sudden heart attack right now is practically zero. If you’ve ever been told it’s too late or that you just have to live waiting for a heart attack, that’s not true. This video will prove otherwise. I’ll show you exactly how I reversed decades of arterial plaque, avoided a heart attack, and how you can do that, too, including one element that most people miss.

The first test that woke me up, it was called a CIMT. That’s short for Carotid Intima-Media Thickness Test

The carotid is the artery right here. Now, I know that’s a mouthful and it sounds uber technical. It’s actually pretty simple. It’s a quick ultrasound. There’s no radiation and it’s the arteries in the neck that I just pointed to. You can feel that pulse. But it doesn’t just look at how well blood is flowing. It measures how much plaque is hiding inside the artery wall. And if you’re saying, well, you know, that’s your neck, not your chest. We’ll get to that a little bit later. But the short version is 98% of the time, if you have plaque here, you’re going to have it here. And vice versa. If you don’t have plaque here, you’re not going to have it here or anywhere else.

Plaque isn’t really a plumbing problem that only happens in the heart. It’s a metabolic problem. So that’s why if you’ve got plaque in one place, you’ve got it in the others. Metabolic meaning how your body burns fuels. By the way, if you want to take a deep dive into metabolic health, you need to get my e-book HERE. It’s free.

Now, when that CIMT result came back at 1.2 millimeters. I knew I was in trouble. I was frustrated, like I said, and I was pretty emotional. For context, one millimeter or less is ideal. Over that and you’re in a little bit of a danger zone. But the worst part is based on the amount of plaque detected in my arteries, my arterial age came back at 73 years old, 16 years older than what I actually was. For a couple of weeks, I was frustrated and angry, but mostly just frustrated. Then I thought, maybe I wasn’t doing everything wrong. Despite some of the shortcomings of my lifestyle, and I needed to change some things, but I was still doing better than a lot of folks. It wasn’t like, I had done nothing, I could have weighed 300 lb plus. I could have had a whole bunch of body fat that was creating this problem. At least I had some things going for me.

The other thing that occurred to me is yes, had I not done those lifestyle activities, I could have already had a heart attack. I could already be dead. So, I began to see the other side of this. Once I got past that shock, I knew I had things to do, though. The first thing I did was look for the cause. I ran an oral glucose tolerance test where you drink a a set amount of glucose, either 75 or 100 grams, depending on the the context of the test that you’re doing or the format. You want to see how your blood sugar responds over time. Mine spiked to over 160.

Already it was clear, you get spikes over 160. And those are the times when you can be forming plaque. It meant I had enough pre-diabetes to cause plaque, even though I’d never been told I was diabetic. That was the turning point.

I switched from a low-fat diet to a low carb diet. And I didn’t just lower my carbs. I removed the ones that spiked my blood sugar.

So, for example, fiber-based carbs are carbs, but they don’t mess with my blood sugar. [He shows a photo of bowls of white rice, oats? Chickpeas? And?? — GC] The glycemic carbs are the pastas, the breads, those highly processed carbs are the ones that raise my blood sugar. Grain products, one of the biggest offenders. And I loved bread. I didn’t eat a lot of pasta, but I ate bread all the time. You know, let’s break bread together. I thought that was a great thing. I changed my workouts too from long distance cardio and I still continued to do some of that but I added a lot more short intense bursts and more focused resistance training. So what I was doing with the intense workouts wasworking on my capillaries. That’s where my insulin receptors live. And with the resistance train I was working on my mitochondria in my muscles. That’s what burns the glucose once you get it into your muscles. And speaking of muscles, the reason I focus on my legs is that’s where your real muscle mass is.

I improved my sleep. It was a long saga of many things that I did to improve that sleep. I lowered my stress. And yes, I made a few unpopular choices with supplements and even medications. Within a year, my CIMT showed my arterial age had dropped from 73 to 52, 20 years younger. But that was just the beginning.

Over the years, I kept getting a CIMT basically every year. They keep showing very slow progression of my plaque. But I kept seeing some comments in the channel specifically asking CIMT is okay, but what about your calcium score? We want to see how your heart is. So, I thought I might as well just get a calcium score. Now, here’s the thing. Calcium score won’t show soft plaque, the dangerous type of plaque that can rupture and cause a heart attack. That’s why I went to get CIMT because a CIMT does show the presence of soft plaque which I didn’t have based on my [current] results.

So I decided to do something better than a calcium score. I went straight to the coronary CT Angiogram but not just any traditional angiogram. I got the newest type of CT angiogram [Cleerly Ct-angiogram] and that it’s the one that uses AI analysis. This is the best available test to identify both soft unstable and hard calcified plaque in the arteries of the heart. I got mine done with a company called Cleerly, but we work with other companies, too.

There’s another one called HeartFlow® as well. Enough talk about the process. You want to see my results? So, when I opened the report, three headlines jumped off the page. First, soft plaque volume.1 millimeter. That was a relief. In practical terms, that means I have virtually no unstable plaque in my heart right now. Second total plaque volume 75.6 cubic mm with stable calcified portion at 31. The rest is higher density non-calcified plaque. It behaves [as if] it’s stable when you manage your metabolism. That may be getting a little bit too technical. Here’s the translation. Very little total plaque and almost none of the dangerous kind. So those are the two key things to remember.

I said three things and there’s always this third thing that the rest of the medical world always wants to focus on and that is stenosis and location of the plaque. Stenosis is a geeky word for whether or not you’ve got obstruction. Most arteries were under 10% obstruction. And the highest narrowing was 17%. And that was in guess which one? The L. That’s the one they called the widowmaker. Ba bum. Everybody’s always so scared when they hear that term.

They come to me and they say, “The doctor said I had calcification and plaque in my widowmaker.” And I’m going, “I understand. If you have plaque in the heart arteries, the first place you’re almost always the first place you’re going to get it is the L.” So, don’t get concerned if somebody tells you you have plaque and it’s in the widowmaker, the L. [ left anterior descending (LAD) artery.Dangers of a Widowmaker Heart Attack – GC] Now, if there’s another specific measurement here, it’s called percent atheroma volume. [Coronary Atheroma Burden Is the Main Determinant of Patient Outcome –GC]

And let’s take a look at that. It measures basically how much plaque you have in terms of volume. Mine was 2.5%. In plain English, the plumbing is just wide open. And more importantly, the plaque that matters for sudden events, the soft inflamed stuff is essentially absent. Put together that means my risk for a sudden heart attack is dramatically lower. And it confirms the progress that we saw on the CIMT, not just in the neck, but in the heart as well.

The major problem related to metabolic disease, it causes plaque and inflammation.

After years of doing prevention and treating patients, I’ve come to realize that testing for this can be very difficult. Now, there are some lab tests, OGTT, oral glucose tolerance tests, and insulin response, the amount of insulin required to m for by your body to manage glucose. [Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT): What It Is — GC]

It’s a hard test to do. It’s definitive. It’s old school, but it’s hard because it requires a lot of time and effort and still sometimes the lab goofs it up.

.

I would not call the test hard, I would call it tedious and time consuming. Unfortunately I found doctors do NOT want to do it on young people. When I tried to get the test done in the early 1970s, I was told I was too young, to have the problem. Yet it is when you are young where finding you have Hypoglycemia is most important for intervention. Note that even now it is considered rare. Of course if you refuse to test for it in the young, and they constantly eat sugar, it will turn into type 2 diabetes as the pancreas becomes exhausted.

Type 2 diabetes – Symptoms and causes – Mayo Clinic

…the increase in the number of children with obesity has led to more young people with type 2 diabetes…

And what often causes that obesity?

Reactive hypoglycemia: the immediate biological trigger

Reactive hypoglycemia means your blood glucose falls quickly after a meal, often within one to four hours. This can happen after a refined carbohydrate heavy meal because insulin surges to clear the sugar. The result is a rapid drop that the brain interprets as an urgent need for quick fuel. Common symptoms include sweating, tremor, anxiety, and an intense urge for fast carbohydrates. Reactive hypoglycemia is an answer to the question “what illness causes sugar cravings?” for many people with post meal cravings. For more clinical context on post-meal low blood sugar and related eating patterns see the research summary herereactive hypoglycemia and eating behavior.

OK, I will get off my hobby horse, and get back to the transcript.

Now, if you’re thinking, Ford, congratulations on reversing your plaque. That’s good for you. What I really want to know, though, is how do I do it? I understand. So, let me show you exactly what I changed to get here, step by step, so you can start bringing your own numbers down. The first and most important change was diet.

BLOOD SUGAR SPIKES

I stopped thinking of food as low-fat or low calorie and I started thinking of it in terms of blood sugar impact. I began testing my blood sugar after meals and if it pushed me over 140, it didn’t stay on the menu, no matter how healthy the label claimed it was. So, one of the first big surprises for me was no more oatmeal for breakfast. That jacked my blood sugar. It meant cutting breads mostly. As I said, I didn’t eat a lot of pastas before, but I ate a lot of breads. Rice, I had developed a taste for rice. And as I mentioned, oatmeal. Couldn’t believe it.

But that’s what the blood sugars, that’s what they told me. So instead, I built my meals around foods that kept my blood sugar stable. I replaced those carbs with healthy fats, moderate protein, and plenty of vegetables that didn’t cause a spike. Over time, I experimented with different eating styles. I’ve tried versions of carnivore, keto, paleo, and plant heavy, low carb. No matter the variation, the common theme was always the same. Keep the carbs low and avoid the processed junk, and avoid blood sugar spikes.

For healthy fats, I leaned on things like avocado, extra-virgin olive oil, and fatty fish like salmon and mackerel. I didn’t shy away from natural saturated fats, either. real butter, not margarine, and yes, even bacon. I went back to bacon, which I had not eaten in decades because it was high-fat, butter, too. So, I went back to butter and bacon, and that was nice. A breakfast of eggs fried in butter with avocado on the side. That kept me satisfied for hours, and it didn’t send my glucose up.

I also paid attention to fiber. Now, some people have a problem with fiber. I don’t. Even in a lower carb approach, non-starchy vegetables, and some fermented foods, these gave me the fiber my gut needed. A big salad with olive oil, apple cider vinegar, and salmon was often lunch and dinner sometimes, too. I love Caesar salads, and so when I went out to eat, and I did a lot because I was traveling a lot, a salmon Caesar salad was my go-to dinner.

Others might be grilled chicken with sauteed greens. Sometimes I’d have a fatty cut of beef, but not very often because I tended to gain weight on beef. I developed a a taste for Brussels sprouts, which I had always hated. But you know what? You got to do what’s what you got to do. I even learned to eat kippers, kippered herring. I still cannot learn to eat sardines. I tried it a few times. I just gave up.

Now, here’s something that might surprise people. Once a week about, I’ll have a little bit of ice cream. Usually not the kind loaded with sugar and corn syrup, but usually one sweetened with alulose, stevia, or arythril. It tastes like a treat and it really doesn’t wreck my blood sugar or undo my progress. So that’s important because if your diet feels like punishment, you won’t stick with it. You just have to learn and change the way you eat. When you say, “I’m on a diet,” that implies temporary that’s in your head. I’m going to change back at some point. That’s not what you want. You want a way of eating that you can live with permanently. The point was to eat in a way that kept my blood sugar in the safe zone and made plaque reversal possible while still enjoying my food.

But what if I had a spike? What happens then? Well, for starters, I don’t panic. Just going out for a walk or doing some exercise snack like lunges or calf raises or jumping on the Schwinn Airdyne. You know that 30-year-old Airdyne that I kept around the house, mom kept around her house. And it was great. it will bring bring my blood sugar back down very quickly. That’s because it’s not the spike that drives the problem. It’s how long and how often your glucose stays even over 140. So, if you think about it, some foods might spike your blood sugar 200 or more. And if it’s only a few minutes, that appears to be okay. It’s really time under the curve, the blood sugar curve over 140. So, I’d much rather have a quick spike of 200 and back down to 100 than go up to 160 and just stay there hour after hour after hour.

EXERCISE

Now, all this leads me to the second big change, and that was exercise. I used to think the key to heart health was endless cardio, long runs, marathons, long bike rides, hours and hours of that level two steady state work. I ran half marathons weekly, sometimes twice a week… Here’s the truth I learned. Long-distance cardio isn’t bad. It’s not the most efficient way though to protect your arteries or reverse plaque. What really matters is improving your metabolic health. And the fastest way to do that is by building and using muscles, especially in your legs. Your leg muscles are your largest safety valve against insulin resistance and metabolic disease. When you engage those big muscles, you pull sugar out of your bloodstream and into your muscle cells where it’s safe. You’re lowering your blood sugar and insulin levels quickly.

.

[I notice that when I am doing a gig, I can get away with drinking a sugary soda in the middle of the gig without feeling that sugar crash I do when sitting at a desk. . –GC]

.

So, I shifted my training. Instead of logging 10 or 15 miles at a time, I started doing short intense bursts, high-intensity interval training, HIT, and a newer variation of this called REHIT, reduced exertion, high-intensity training. With HIT, I’d go all out for 40 to 60 seconds or not all out, but more like 90%. Recover for a minute or two, and then repeat. REHIT is kinder and gentler. You do go all out, but you only go out for like 20 seconds maximum. You do your maximum intensity, but only for 20 seconds, and then you back up.

You do a recovery very slow for 40 to 60 seconds. You do even just two high-intensity intervals in REHIT. And it’s shown to have some really good impact on your health, your arterial health, and your body. And guess what? The reason it’s called reduced exertion, [is] even though you’re going to high intensity, highest level, it’s only for 20 seconds. It’s only twice and you can do it in the morning and you don’t feel burned out the rest of the day. You don’t feel washed out. I could do it on a stationary bike, that Schwinn Airdyne I talked about. I could do it running hill sprints and I do all of those. I even added a rebounder that a friend gave me. You know those trampolines? I thought those were kind of wimpy looking until he gave me that one. And it’s like, oh my gosh, when you hit a flat out sprint on that thing, it will wear you out.

It’s great for calves, hips, and quads. So, I paired that with resistance training. And I’m not talking about hours in the gym. Most days, I did resistance snacks. 5 minutes in the morning, 5 minutes in the evening, even two or three minutes three or four times in the day. Wall squats, prolonged lunges, pull-ups, step squats, one-legged step squats, calf raises, use dumbbells, barbells, body weight moves. Once a week I’ll go to the gym for a longer session, harder workout, and use all those machines. Also once a week I’ll do a longer hit. So, I do three to five REHIT sessions per week and then one session of full hit.

I completely cut out those punishing long distance runs. Well, not completely. There were a few years where I never ran even as far as 5 miles at the time. I’m back to doing a couple of five mile runs. I’ll usually try to get in one once a week. My workouts overall became shorter, more intense, and more targeted. And the results in my labs and the scans speak for themselves.

The key is you don’t have to start at my level. Remember that. I do some fairly intense stuff. And I’ve put some videos out there. A lot of people come to see me and they say, “I’m not starting at that level.” A lot of people are beyond my level, you know, doing some very heavy resistance work.

You start where you are. That’s where you start. Even if you’re just walking right now, start there. Walk daily. Add short bursts of speed. Try getting a 10 or 20 pound weight vest or a 10 or 20 pound weight belt. Start adding some resistance. Start adding some things to what you’re doing. Work toward building muscle and incorporating high-intensity work in small, manageable doses. Over time, you’ll notice not only is your fitness improving, but your blood sugar, your energy, and your risk profile are all changing for the better.

SLEEP

Now, there was another big change that I made in my recovery, and that meant getting serious about sleep and stress management. For years, I treated sleep as optional. .. You’re not conscious. It’s sort of like wasted time, right? I’d stay up late, I’d work, I’d get up early and go run. And I told myself, I was just one of those people who could get by on five or six hours of sleep. Sometimes I’d wake up at 3 in the morning and couldn’t go back to sleep. Now, the truth is, poor sleep is a stressor. It raises your cortisol. It spikes your blood sugar and drives inflammation. They’ll do sleep studies on people and people may say, “Oh, I slept just fine.” But you see some things on the sleep study that said, “It wasn’t perfect.” For the next 48 hours, these people will have increased insulin resistance. So, good sleep is far more important than you might think, and certainly more important than I treated it.

Cortisol. If you don’t get enough good sleep, you’re starting to push your cortisol and that spikes your blood sugar, drives inflammation, all of which feed plaque growth. One problem that I discovered was that I had mild sleep apnea. My high narrow dental arch, crowded my teeth, and more importantly, it pushed my tongue back into my airway while I slept. So, if I was sleeping on my back, my tongue, as I got older, my tongue just started going back there more often. It would wake me up and I wouldn’t even notice it. That meant I was waking up dozens of time in a night without even realizing it. I addressed that with braces, Invisalign braces. They widened my arches and it really helped. But it wasn’t the only thing. I had to train myself to sleep on my side instead of on my back. That was challenging. But that one change improved my oxygen levels, lowered my blood pressure, and left me feeling more rested.

Stress was the other piece. I’d been going full throttle for decades. To me, a high level of stress was a natural thing. I had tried things like meditating and slowing my breath,

and they didn’t really seem to help. So, I just said heck with it. Now, chronic stress keeps you in fight or flight and keeps your body in a low-grade inflammatory state. It keeps that cortisol growing. I needed a way to break that cycle every day. And that’s when I started practicing slow, controlled breathing. Not just taking a deep breath, but actually slowing my breathing rate down to half of normal. You know, the normal 15 to 20 breaths. We’re not talking about going to 12 breaths per minute. We’re talking about going to 7 to 10 perspective.

From a geek perspective, this kind of breathing increases carbon dioxide slightly. That opens up blood vessels in your brain and body and it stimulates your vagus nerve, the switch that turns on your rest and repair mode. Rest and digest, rest and repair.

….

Well that seems to be a partial answer to Valerie Curren’s question about the Buteyko Breathing Technique from Sunday. — GC

….

Here’s where I learned that really slow breathing rate. A group called RESPeRATE

sent me one of their devices to try. You put a strap around your belly and you have some earplugs in and it coaches you on how quickly you should inhale and how slowly you should exhale and how often to repeat. And that’s when I thought, “Oh my gosh, no wonder my slowed breathing in the past really never helped. I wasn’t slowing it down enough.” You can do this without any kind of BOF feedback gadget like RESPeRATE . Just sit or lie down. Inhale slowly for 4 or 5 seconds. Exhale slowly for 6 to 8 seconds and repeat just doing that same thing for 10 minutes. You’ll feel a big difference just with that alone.

Sleep and stress control don’t just make you feel calmer. They have a measurable impact on your metabolic health. Better sleep lowers your fasting glucose and your blood pressure. Lower stress reduces inflammation markers. These two things alone can take a huge amount of cardiovascular risk right off the table. That’s basically the lifestyle change I did. I know it might sound very simple, but for some people it can be hard to start or even maintain that kind of lifestyle.

Consistency is key here, but as we age, our body doesn’t have the same capacity to respond as quickly as when we were young. And that’s why I want to talk about supplements. I was trained in the traditional way and the folks that I trained with, we all felt like supplements just meant expensive urine. We underestimated the effectiveness. . But after my reality check, I decided to use my prevention experience to do my own research. I did a lot of science work at Hopkins and understood how to analyze science very well. When I started looking at the supplement research, I was surprised.

I started developing opinions about the best types of supplements for prevention. So to me, supplements should fill gaps in your diet that you can’t cover with diet, support your specific needs, and be backed by evidence.

D3 & K2

One of the first supplements I added was vitamin D3. Around 5,000 international units per day. Low vitamin D levels are linked to increased inflammation, higher cardiovascular risk, and poorer immune function. But I didn’t take D3 alone. I took vitamin K2 as well, about 400 micrograms daily because K2 helps direct calcium into bones and teeth, not into artery walls where it can contribute to calcification. But more importantly, it has some role in improving insulin resistance. I predict that’s going to be shown as the research continues. There’s already a couple of studies out there indicating that.

NIACIN

Another supplement that I used to take is niacin, mostly due to low HDL. Niacin is actually the only thing supplement or medication wise that can increase HDL, decrease LDL, decrease triglycerides, and most importantly decrease LP little A.

.

Niacin – Mayo Clinic

Prescription niacin raises high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. This is the “good” cholesterol that helps remove low-density lipoprotein (LDL), the “bad” cholesterol, from the blood. Even though niacin may raise HDL cholesterol, research suggests that niacin therapy isn’t linked to lower rates of death, heart attack, or stroke. [Of Course not /sarc-GC]

.

I also take magnesium and not just one form of magnesium. I take Magnesium L-threonate which is great for brain health LINK and for sleep while magnesium glycinate supports muscle function and relaxation. [Helps you sleep -GC] Magnesium is involved in over 300 processes in the body and it plays a role in blood pressure and insulin sensitivity both critical for keeping plaque stable or preventing plaque entirely.

OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS

KRILL

Now although I eat a lot of fish I do supplement with some additional omega-3 fatty acids. The combination of EPA and DHA, two of the most important omega-3 fatty acids, that combination has proven time and time again to provide significant benefits to lower cardiovascular risk.

Omega-3 Fish Oil and Krill Oil Differences

Omega-3 fatty acids are well known for supporting heart health and inflammatory balance, but not all omega-3 sources are the same. Fish oil and krill oil both contain EPA and DHA, yet they differ significantly in concentration, research support, sustainability, and cost. In this article, we explain how omega-3s work in the body, compare fish oil and krill oil side by side, and review why fish oil remains the most efficient (and researched) option for most people…

Fish Oil vs. Krill Oil: Not All Omega-3 Sources are the Same

While both fish and krill oil contain omega-3 fatty acids, specifically DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), there are important differences between the two, especially in concentration, absorption, and research support…

Fish oil typically contains higher levels of EPA and DHA than krill oil.… [AND possibly mercury -GC]

Krill Oil vs. Fish Oil: The Best Way to Get Your Omega-3s

While there’s nothing wrong with fish oil, a growing body of research suggests there’s a smarter source: Krill oil.

Here’s what you need to know about krill oil and what the science shows about its health-enhancing potential…

Though both fish oil and krill oil contain EPA and DHA, the molecular structure of their fatty acids is different in a way that matters. In krill, the omega-3s are in the form of phospholipids, molecules of glycerol, two fatty acids, and the mineral phosphorus. In fish oil, the omega-3s are triglycerides, compounds of glycerol, and three fatty acids.

That slight difference in molecular makeup gives krill oil the advantage in terms of omega-3 bioavailability: The phospholipid form of omega-3 fatty acids in krill was shown to help facilitate the incorporation of omega-3s into tissues faster and more effectively than the triglyceride form in fish. In other words, the omega-3s in krill are easier for the body to absorb, suggesting you can take about 37% less krill oil than fish oil to get the same benefit.

2. Krill Oil Phospholipids Offer Critical Benefits That Fish Oil Cannot.

Humans need sufficient levels of phospholipids to ensure optimal cell function, cell growth, and the generation of new cells. In fact, phospholipids have been shown to help boost brain health and have protective effects against heart disease and liver disease, poor immune function, stress, depression, and more.

But as we age, our cells’ phospholipid levels naturally decrease…

3.  Krill Oil Has Brain-Boosting Choline; Fish Oil Does Not….

Both of these are selling supplements BTW.

…..

NATOKINASE

There are other supplements I do take, especially from time to time like aged garlic extract and natokinase, both of which have evidence showing impact on arterial plaque.

The next piece of my strategy was, believe it or not, medications. But before I go into what I take, I want to be clear. Medications are not the main driver of plaque reversal or plaque prevention. You cannot out prescribe a bad lifestyle. Let me repeat that. You cannot out prescribe a bad lifestyle. But when medications are used strategically, like supplements, in the right dose at the right time for the right person, they can help stabilize plaque or prevent it and lower risk while your lifestyle changes do the heavy lifting. Now, get ready for what I’m about to tell you because I’ve been criticized for this.

STATINS

Although, I truly believe it’s something that contributed to my results. One of the first I chose to take was a low-dose statin. Yes, I got a lot of haters for that. Not to hammer my LDL. That wasn’t my interest. My LDL or bad cholesterol, I wasn’t looking at trying to ground that into the ground, but I wanted to lower my inflammation and protect myself against recurring inflammation. You see, I knew if I had had plague, I had gone through episodes of developing inflammation. I knew I didn’t feel it. So, I wanted to continue to have a a backup for my lifestyle. I also knew that low-dose statins help with cardiovascular inflammation. So, that was my target. Most importantly, I started taking it after I found out I had plaque. Again, it’s that plaque business, because inflammation is what makes plaque unstable. And the evidence is strong that low doses of certain statins like ruba or previsatin can reduce that inflammation. I avoid the high dose approach and I avoid the more problematic statins. I for example don’t use a tobistan statin for me that meant rubatin 5 milligrams a day or even now two or three times a week.

Some of my patients are on five milligrams a week and that’s been demonstrated to have a positive impact. So you start thinking about weekly total dosages. You know, patients will come to me on 40 milligrams of versastatin a day times 7 days is what? 280 milligrams compared to 5 milligrams once a week. Totally different ballpark. Totally different universe.

ASPIRIN

I also used to take low aspirin. Let’s talk about aspirin for a minute and why I started taking it and why I’m taking something different now. When I started taking aspirin, it was recommended for primary prevention for people 65 or older and some recommendations said 60 or older. Primary prevention means you’ve reached a certain age. They’re not looking to see if you have high blood pressure or plaque or anything else. If you have heart disease, that means plaque. You’re no longer in primary prevention territory. You’re more in secondary prevention. So heart disease means you have documented plaque. If that’s your case, you’re no longer in the primary prevention category. You’re a cardiovascular patient, you’re in secondary prevention, and yes, those same guidelines say, “Yep, aspirin works for secondary prevention.” And even though it was recommended at the time I started it, I wasn’t taking it for primary prevention. I started it at the time that I discovered my own plaque because I said, “Okay, I’ve got plaque. I’m now a cardiovascular patient. I need to have a blood thinner type of impact.” and baby aspirin or aspirin 81 milligrams was what I needed. So, of course, there’s a bleeding risk. So, this is always a discussion to have with your doctor. If you notice, I said I used to take low dose aspirin.

I didn’t change it because it didn’t work or because of side effects. I stopped it for another reason. A few years later, I found out I had atrial fibrillation. It’s the most common heart rhythm problem and it’s associated with clots and therefore strokes. Aspirin just doesn’t protect it. Atrial fib raises your risk of stroke six to eight times. Aspirin does not do away with that extra risk from atrial fib. I had to exchange my aspirin for something else. It’s called NOAC, a novel oral anti-coagulant. So instead of baby aspirin, I took Eloquis. Now it’s interesting. Eloquis has shown a similar protection profile for heart attacks as low dose aspirin but a much much better risk reduction for strokes associated with atrial fib. So that’s why I made the switch in the mid-60s.

I started, well actually in the late 50s I started developing high blood pressure. I started years ago with Ramipril. It’s an ACE inhibitor. And again, you don’t need to remember the term. It’s just a type of blood pressure medicine that doctors were just beginning to use. They had used it quite often, but not so often for frontline high blood pressure management. I eventually switched to Lartin. It’s an RB. It’s similar, but different. And the problem was I was having a cough with the ACE inhibitor. Keeping blood pressure in the optimum range is another way to protect your arteries from damage over time.

I do use a low dose and it has helped me both keep my numbers down and steady and the key thing, protect my kidneys. The point is every one of these medications was added for a very specific reason based on my test results, my risk profile, my examination components like my blood pressure. And I review all these things regularly. If a medication isn’t helping or the numbers improve to the point where it’s no longer needed, I make a change, just like my patients do.

SALES PITCH

Medications are tools. They work best when they’re targeted, monitored, and used for support, not to replace the real drivers of cardiovascular health, your exercise, your sleep, your stress control. So, that’s my story in a nutshell. Remember, I was going to tell you about that one piece of the puzzle most people miss, even more important than lifestyle. But there’s one more thing I like to keep track of. If you’re ready to take prevention seriously, I want you to know you don’t have to keep struggling with a medical system that just pushes pills and doesn’t listen. I see so many people trying to figure this out on their own. And while it’s good to do your own research, we do a lot of stuff like that e-book to help support people who are figuring this out. In fact, if you just leave all the decisions to your doctor, you’re likely to get a lot of unnecessary procedures. It’s good to do your own research, but going solo, completely solo, that can lead to blind spots and mistakes that can put your health at risk. And so, this is where I’ve dedicated my career.

I was formerly trained in prevention and eventually ran the program, as I said, at John’s Hopkins, training the other doctors there in prevention. I know the strengths and the limits of traditional preventive medicine. To make this care more accessible, I’ve personally trained a team of clinical advisers. They take the same approach I do. Listening carefully and looking at the real drivers of heart disease and plaque, inflammation, and insulin resistance, not just the numbers most doctors stop at. And no, we don’t just do an LDL, bad cholesterol, and call it a day. When you call and you get more than an appointment, you’ll get guidance and support designed for your situation, your numbers, your goals.

You’ll finally have somebody in your corner helping you make the right decisions. If you’re ready to move beyond that kind of frustration and get prevention that actually work, here’s what to do now. If you’re interested in working with us, click the link in the description. Or call the number on your screen and one of our people will give you a call. They can or will take the call and can talk this through with you. And like I mentioned before, get your free copy of my seven step heart attack prevention program so that you can learn more about your risk, how to fix your metabolism, and reverse arterial plaque. Just click the link below and there it is.

Purpose. I’ve done videos on that and the videos admittedly are just not that popular. People think, “Oh, that’s just woo woo fishy stuff.” Woo! Purpose is not woo woo fishy stuff. When I got that first CIMT scan and I saw arteries of a 73y old at age 57, for me it scared me. But the truth is fear alone doesn’t keep you going. For me, my purpose was twofold. First, I wanted to be around not just alive, but healthy for the people I love. Second, I wanted to turn my own wake-up call into something that could help other people avoid a heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney disease, erectile dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, the vascular part of cardiovascular disease. That’s why I shared these scans, these numbers, and the steps I took. I know what it feels like to think it’s too late, and I know the relief of realizing it’s not. When you have a clear purpose, the daily choices get easier.

You want a purpose that’s bigger than how I feel today. And a purpose that’s bigger than, well, this is what my doctor told me to do. You know, I think I’ve retired three, four, five times. Maybe more times than I can count. And I always come back to just sharing knowledge. It’s the type of knowledge I think will help people find hope and avoid heart attacks and strokes, make people’s lives better. Your purpose is the anchor that keeps you steady when life gets messy. When you’re tempted to fall back into old habits. If you don’t have that purpose yet, take some time, think about it, it’s the most important thing you can do. Because once you know why you want a longer, healthier life, the how to get there becomes a lot more doable. Finally, I know more about what to eat to reverse arterial plaque. If you want to know more about that, check out this video right here. [Points to link on screen]

Trump is dropping the final hammer on Iran and anybody who supports it in the endgame.

Wolf Moon

I did kick it out, but I didn’t have to – it pinged correctly at 12:10 AM as having missed the schedule, and it would have been kicked out automatically by 12:27 AM.

TheseTruths

Thank you, Gail. Will read and save it later.

The problem is right there in the first word in the name, islamic Republic of Iran.

islam doesn’t make ‘deals’.

Either you will be assimilated, or islam will be annihilated.

Those are the only two possible outcomes, when the Borg encounter another group.

The longer it takes for people to recognize that, the better the chances the Borg have.

Interesting discovery (for me). I wanted to get the full text of the original Tweet. I can see it at X, but I can’t lift the text out of it to post it here, or so I thought. And I didn’t feel like transcribing it mice elf.

So I took the link to Brave and asked Brave if it could transcribe the text of DJT’s tweet for me.

Brave Ai said it couldn’t, but told me there is a built-in ‘Copy text from image’ feature in Brave browser, if you right-click on the image.

So I tried it on the image at X, and there was no option to ‘Copy text from image’ when I right-clicked on the image.

But I changed the link from ‘x.com’ to ‘xcancel.com’, and tried right-clicking there, and it worked. ‘Copy text from image’ showed up in the drop-down menu, right below ‘Copy image address’.

Here is the full text of DJT’s Truth Social post:

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
No one has given the Islamic Republic of Iran a
greater opportunity to make a Deal than me.
TRAGICALLY, for them, they have failed to take it.
Therefore, today, I am announcing the MOST
CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER TAKEN
AGAINST ANY COUNTRY! This will be Economic
Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale.
Their navy is gone, their air force is destroyed, their
military factories are now rubble, their currency is
worthless, and their country is hanging by a thread.
Today, I am also announcing that ANY country that
allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports,
or government entities to provide any type Of lifeline
to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic
Consequences. Oil smuggling, swap lines, cash
transfers, exchange houses, ship registries, front
companies — It all needs to stop NOW. You know who
you are. This will be an ECONOMIC D-DAY, and we
need all of our Allies to stand with the United States
Of America to isolate, and defeat, the Iran threat.
These maniacs are on the ropes, and these HISTORIC
MEASURES will cripple them and their ability to
project terror worldwide. IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A
NUCLEAR WEAPON. THANK YOU FOR YOUR
ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. President DONALD J.
TRUMP

Economic D-Day sounds rather ominous. Good thing the financial markets aren’t jittery, and most investors have diamond hands.

I’m curious who “all of our Allies” are. I can’t think of anyone DJT hasn’t called out since his second term began, including Japan recently, and South Korea as of yesterday, if I remember correctly.

There’s no one in europe who is our ally. Except maybe Poland.

Not even Machiavelli could decipher where the Israeli government stands at any given point in time 😂

Not Mexico or Canadia (the snow Mexicans).

Venezuela is more like a conscript at the moment.

Maybe Argentina, because of Milei.

Even Greenland is on the fence.

At least a quarter of our own STATES aren’t even our ally 🤣

It’s actually incredible. You’d think the most powerful nation in the world would be tripping over allies, even if they were cynically only allies because they wanted to be on the winning side.

But there is practically no one who openly stands with America.

And that’s their loss.

This image-to-text feature seems to be a Windows-only feature – it’s not available on other platforms. Apparently it also doesn’t work on all sites, such as x.com. But it’s very interesting. Mac has some features like this, too – on-demand OCR on images.

It could definitely come in handy, when (and where) it works 👍

in the replies someone said the US, Israel and Pakistan have nukes, but no one else can? is this true?

cthulhu

It’s a stupid argument.

The US has nukes because we invented them. The USSR has nukes because they stole them ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_and_Ethel_Rosenberg ). Various other countries have gotten nukes through a variety of other means.

Iran can’t have nukes because they’ve been saying “Death to America” for 50 years and we’d have to be completely stupid to let them have nukes.

patfrederick

thanks! i so russia DOES have them. it didn’t make sense to me that they weren’t included in that statement. does chyna have them, do you know?

Chyna has them.

“Iran can’t have nukes because they’ve been saying “Death to America” for 50 years and we’d have to be completely stupid to let them have nukes.”

_______________

No islamic country should have nukes, or any country in danger of becoming islamic.

For the obvious reasons having to do with the thing which can never be spoken where Political-Correctness is the god, or in other words, among the willfully blind.

islam is by far the most violent, unhinged and hostile / aggressive belief system (of any consequential size) on earth.

Allowing islamic countries to possess nuclear weapons is like handing a gas can and matches to an arsonist at a fireworks factory. Or like handing them to black inner city gang members, for that matter. You’d have to have rocks in your head.

If anyone wants a nuclear war as soon as possible, then by all means, let hostile societies governed by a belief system trapped in the 7th century have nuclear weapons.

OTOH, if you’re not crazy, if we don’t want nuclear war, then somebody has to be the grown up, and keep them out of the hands of people who murder for their religion, and just for the fun of it.

Last edited 24 days ago by scott467
Wolf Moon

Yes. Pakistan’s nukes are probably the most likely to actually go off, IMO. NK’s nukes are controlled by a crazy man, but Pakistan’s nukes are controlled by a crazy ideology.

kalbokalbs

Grok

Nine countries currently possess nuclear weapons:

  1. Russia – Largest arsenal (estimated ~5,400 total warheads)
  2. United States – Second-largest (~5,000 total warheads)
  3. China – Rapidly expanding (~600–620 warheads)
  4. France (~290–370)
  5. United Kingdom (~225)
  6. India (~180–190)
  7. Pakistan (~170)
  8. Israel (~90; maintains a policy of nuclear ambiguity and has never officially confirmed possession, but is widely assessed by experts as having them)
  9. North Korea (~50–60)
  10. globalmilitary.net

These are the nine nuclear-armed states recognized by sources such as the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the Federation of American Scientists (FAS). Together they hold an estimated ~12,200 nuclear warheads (as of early/mid-2026 estimates), with Russia and the United States accounting for the vast majority (~85–90%).
sipri.org
Notes

  • The first five (US, Russia, UK, France, China) are the officially recognized Nuclear-Weapon States under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
  • India, Pakistan, and North Korea developed their arsenals outside the NPT framework.
  • Israel has never signed the NPT and neither confirms nor denies possession.

@VictorsVoice2

Yes. My son died 16 days after his 1st Pfizer shot. Histopathology showed myocarditis, pericarditis and fatal aortic dissection. Spike protein was found in his aorta which decimated the endothelium. No nucleocapsid- he never had covid. He was healthy, no collagen deficiency disorders, no aneurysm, no high blood pressure. His death was a crime and those perpetrating the lie of safe and effective must be brought to justice for reckless endangerment with depraved indifference to human life. His death was not rare- you can’t find what you don’t look for. Had I not done extensive forensic investigations I would never have known the truth. His peer reviewed and published case directly links the vaccine to his death. I will never forgive or forget and will seek justice no matter how long it may take.

Exclusive | Captain in fatal NY Harbor boat tragedy is illegal immigrant: feds

The captain of an illegal charter boat that flipped in New York Harbor, killing a mom and her baby, is an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who is now in federal immigration custody, The Post has learned.

Manuel Hernandez, 46, a limo driver without a boating license, was in the US illegally when he capsized the overloaded 21-foot vessel on Aug. 8, drowning Sara Sanchez and her baby daughter, Antonella Garcia, the Department of Homeland Security said Wednesday.

“This criminal illegal alien was illegally and recklessly conducting unlicensed boat tours in New York Harbor when his boat capsized, killing a 27-year-old woman and her 5-month-old baby,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a statement.

Hernandez illegally crossed the southern border through Texas in 2007 by lying to a border agent and falsely claiming he was an American citizen, according to the feds.

…Federal prosecutors said Hernandez packed 14 passengers into the charter boat for a birthday party cruise near Liberty Island, despite specs that a craft of that size should typically carry no more than 10…

War on Rocks – The Real Reason Data Republican Is So EffectiveWhy Truth Hurts More Than Any Lie
The @EvansRyan202, @WarOnTheRocks (WOTR), doxxing of @CynicalPublius (CP) scandal just unlocked an answer I have been searching two decades to find. It’s also why @DataRepublican (DR) is THE most effective voice on X today.

backgrounder on experiencing anger in the home

My father was the most loving man I ever knew. A devout Catholic who said grace before every meal. A Cornell graduate who moved our family to the South Bronx because he believed his education was wasted if it didn’t serve the people who needed it most.
He also had PTSD from Vietnam. And when the rage came, it came without warning. One moment he was the gentlest man in the room. The next, every object on the kitchen table was on the floor and you stood very still because the person in front of you was someone else entirely.

I spent my whole life trying to understand that line. Not anger in the abstract. That specific threshold: the instant a man who loved his family more than anything became someone who frightened them.

That search led me, decades later, to a week with Marshall Rosenberg, the psychologist who created Nonviolent Communication. Not the watered-down marriage counseling version. The original, undiluted framework.

Rosenberg believed anger was the root cause of all violence, all war, and most acts of political destruction. Most people nod along with that. But he went further.

He said anger is the product of a very specific cognitive error: assuming another person’s intent.

more on cause of anger

“You did this BECAUSE you are selfish.” “You said that BECAUSE you don’t respect me.”
“You voted for him BECAUSE you’re a bigot.”

These are not arguments. They are stories we write about what is happening inside another person’s mind. And according to Rosenberg, they are the single greatest mechanism by which anger enters the world.

Think about it in your own life. When someone accuses you of a motive you don’t hold, the reaction is immediate and visceral. You are not being told you’re wrong. You are being told you are lying about who you are. That’s a different kind of wound.

Let me say that again. All anger is caused by assuming another person’s intent.
I carried this framework for years and it worked. When I felt anger rising, I’d ask: what am I assuming about this person’s intent? Almost always, I’d invented a story. Remove the story, the anger dissolves.

But Rosenberg’s framework has a gap. And what fills that gap explains not just my father’s rage, but the specific way American politics broke.

The Weaponized Shortcut

First I must explain why TDS is spreading like wildfire.

Here’s the thing Rosenberg understood as a psychologist but never fully mapped as a political strategist: motive-attribution doesn’t just happen naturally. It can be manufactured. Deployed. Scaled.

And one side of the political spectrum figured this out decades ago.

The intellectual roots trace back to Marxist critical theory, specifically the Frankfurt School’s insight that you don’t need to win an argument if you can redefine the terms of the argument. Herbert Marcuse took this further in the 1960s: if you can categorize your opponent’s position as a manifestation of oppression (racism, sexism, phobia of any kind) you don’t have to engage with the position at all. You’ve assigned a motive. And once a motive is assigned, the argument is over.

This isn’t conspiracy theory. It’s published strategy. It’s taught in universities. And it works not because it’s true but because of how the human brain processes shortcuts.

I’m right of center. I’m religious. I acknowledge differences between races. None of those things crossed my mind when I started writing about military education reform. I care about reform for a dozen specific, articulable reasons. But explaining them requires time and nuance, and the majority of people are too busy.

Everyone is looking for faster ways to understand the world. Someone offering a simple explanation, “Konrad’s a racist,” is handing them a shortcut. Accepting that frame and moving on is far easier than reading three pages of policy analysis.

That’s the genius of the Marcuse playbook. It exploits a basic feature of human cognition: we prefer simple explanations, especially ones that come with a moral judgment attached. “He’s a racist” is a complete package. It explains the person’s position, assigns a motive, and tells you how to feel about it, all in three words.

The majority of the left (and increasingly the center and parts of the right) take that shortcut not out of a desire to divide or side with the Marxists. They do it because life is complicated and we are wired to take shortcuts.

The problem is that shortcut is an assumption about intent. And assumptions about intent create anger.

The bigger problem is we aren’t just wired to take shortcuts, we are wired to share shortcuts… and it’s so easy to drop a comment or retweet one not realizing it was crafted to foment anger.

Ironically the person who accepts the shortcut doesn’t save energy. They absorb anger.
Then they share the shortcut, because that’s what humans do online. And every person who accepts it absorbs more anger. The virus spreads. Anger begets more sharing.

Anger serves a function. It’s supposed to focus us on figuring out intent. It’s supposed to make us confront the person and ask their intent, and prepair us for battle if that intent turns out to be malign.

It’s a shortcut to confrontation but we can’t pick up a sword and walk down to our neighbors house… even if we do confront them online we can’t look them in the eye and determine intent. So we can’t drop the anger. And that anger consumes our day which forces us to look for more shortcuts.

This is why the left today waits for the NYTimes or NPR to tell them who to vote for or what lie to believe. That’s why they all reiterate the same lie at the same time. So much of their days are cosnumed with anger they don’t have time to read and think. They are grasping for a shortcut.

The great irony: people consuming and sharing these shortcuts believe they’re saving time and thought. They end up consumed by it. The shortcut doesn’t conserve cognitive energy. It injects a slow-burning emotional cost that has to be serviced continuously. You have to keep feeding the assumption. Keep reinforcing the story. Keep the anger alive, because if it dies, you’d have to go back and actually read those three pages of policy analysis you skipped.

This is how political derangement grows. Not through ideology. Through the compounding effect of millions of people accepting false assumptions about other people’s motives.
Each one a tiny hidden liability. Accumulated across a population, a structural crisis.

And it runs in one direction. The right has its own failures, but the institutional left has built an entire epistemological infrastructure around motive-attribution. Diversity training that teaches participants to assume racial motive in neutral interactions. Media style guides that embed assumptions about intent into the framing of news stories. Academic frameworks that treat motive-attribution as analysis. An entire generation has been trained to look at any policy disagreement and ask, “What kind of bigotry is driving this?”

And the problem has gotten so bad, they are so desperately looking for shortcuts, that the intent doesn’t even have to be racism or Facism anymore. Look at my debates with Tom Nichols. He throws out random nonsense saying I act the way I do because “inferiority complex” or “jealous of the better educated” or whatever.

He knows it doesn’t matter what the intent is. He just needs to tell his followers he knows my true intent (he doesn’t) and they will take the shortcut.

That’s not analysis. It’s the mass production of anger.

Why You Can’t Argue Your Way Out

For decades, the right tried to fight back the obvious way: prove the assumption wrong.
Get called a racists?

We would respond by talking about your black friends. What you appreciate about Black communities. Tell people what types of Black food or culture you love the most. Tell a story about a black member of your squad.

It’s true, but it’s weak. @GadSaad suggested a better way… cold hard facts. When called a racist, points out he’s a Canadian Arab Jewish war refugee. I mention that my Cornell-educated father moved to the South Bronx to serve minority communities.

These are powerful facts. They worked better for the past few years but not so much in 2026. Two reasons why.

First, it is nearly impossible to prove a negative. No amount of evidence can conclusively establish what is not in your heart. The accusation is unfalsifiable by design. That’s not a bug in the Marcuse playbook. It’s the feature.

Second, people running on shortcuts aren’t going to read your defense. They already have their answer. A three-word motive-attribution will always travel faster than a three-page rebuttal.

How many times have you seen the left drop this comment: “I ain’t reading all that. Happy for you though. Or sorry that happened.”

There’s a third option: just admit it when the accusation is true. The anger resolves instantly because the assumption about intent matches reality. No gap. But this only works when the accusation is actually correct, which, for the vast majority of people being called racist, it isn’t.

When it is correct though, go ahead and use it. About once a week someone will say “John, you just hate communists” and I say: “Yes. I. Do.”

What the right is beginning to figure out is a fourth approach: volume. They want a shortcut but they won’t read one long explanation. They will, however, read a hundred short ones. Defending each other with small, factual corrections, post by post, slowly erodes the false assumption. CynicalPublius got doxxed and hundreds of people shared little facts and insights about him. It’s slower. It works. But it requires coordination and discipline that political movements rarely sustain. And we on the right aren’t well organized.

And none of these strategies address the deepest layer of the problem, the layer I didn’t understand until this week.

Still with me?

I know this long. I know I could shorten it but, like I said, those looking for shortcuts in life are likely already infected. If you made it this far you probably are still healthy and sane.
I appologize but I had to weed those people out.

What Just Happened with Ryan Evans

If you’re on defense and national security X, you already know this story. If you’re not, here’s what you need to know.

Ryan Evans is the editor of War on the Rocks, arguably the most influential defense policy publication outside of the legacy outlets. I’ve known Ryan for years. He’s sharp, he’s liberal (more than he’ll admit publicly), and he’s a fighter. We’ve argued many times and he doesn’t back down. I respect that about him.

Cynical Publius is an anonymous account run by an Army veteran named Tom. CP is also a friend of mine. We’ve had many private conversations. He’s thoughtful, principled, and he was grieving the loss of his brother, a fact I believe Ryan was aware of.

Ryan doxxed CP through War on the Rocks. And not casually. Tom has a common name, common enough to provide real anonymity. But Ryan didn’t just publish his first and last name. He published his full middle name. That is not standard editorial practice. I know WOTR’s style guide. Ryan adheres to it almost religiously. The style guide doesn’t include middle names.

I spent two hours trying to find an innocent explanation why he published Tom’s middle name. The only logical conclusion I could reach was that Ryan included the middle name intentionally, to ensure identification. That made me angry, one of the few times Rosenberg’s framework didn’t immediately cool me down, because I wasn’t assuming intent. I was deducing it from evidence.

To be clear, thanks to Rosenberg, I wasn’t steaming. Just a little hot under the collar.
But thousands of people on X did erupt. Hundreds of accounts piled on Ryan. He weathered it the way a tough, stubborn editor would: blocked critics, stood his ground, ignored the mob. Manageable anger from people he could dismiss as trolls or partisans.

Then Data Republican got involved.

DR is, in my assessment, the most effective operators in the political information space. And the reason is her method, which I didn’t fully understand until I watched this episode play out.

She DM’d CP and me. She was going to investigate.

Now, because Ryan is loosely a competitor, I’ve maintained a file on WOTR since its founding. Not a malignant file. More of a SWOT analysis. Every serious media operator keeps files on competitors. And in reviewing mine, I found something so explosive it could have made the evening news. Not on Ryan directly, but on people within the WOTR orbit. It connected to a story I’ve been developing for nearly a decade, one so big I’ve hesitated to publish it because the loose ends could generate “Konrad Didn’t Kill Himself” memes after a three letter agency has me take a long walk on a short pier.

I called a friend, @cdrsalamander , and laid it out. He confirmed the information fit the general pattern of what he had independently.

I sent it to DR. Told her to be careful. “This is nitroglycerin.”
Her reply: “I love nitroglycerin.”

Ryan’s response to DR’s brief
Up to this point, Ryan had blocked just about everyone on X except me, despite the fact my jabs at him were going the most viral. Maybe professional courtesy. Maybe our history. I don’t make assumptions about intent.

DR ran the information through her system. A few of the loose ends she couldn’t close.
Now, what she had was more than enough to blow a hole in the internet. Legally clean.
Factually verified. The loose ends could be hidden in inference. But she passed on the explosive story because the loose ends didn’t meet her standard.

Her rigid standard. TRUTH

Instead, she prepared a brief on what she could verify to her satisfaction.

She DM’d me: “You might be disappointed but this is all true.”

What she published was narrower than the nitroglycerin. But it was airtight. Quadruple-verified. Zero assumptions about intent. Just documented facts about what Ryan did and what the record showed.

BOOM

Ryan unblocked all comments. Published a death blossom of responses. Blocked all comments again. And as a parting shot, blocked me. The one person he’d left standing for days.

He had no idea the firestorm he avoided. The bigger story is still sitting in my files. But here’s the part I can’t stop thinking about:

Ryan appeared more upset by DR’s verified truth than he would have been by the nitroglycerin.

The mob? He tanked it. Hundreds of angry accounts making assumptions about his intent? He could dismiss them. Trolls. Partisans. People who didn’t know the full story.
But DR made no assumptions about his intent. She published no speculation. She just laid out what happened, verified to a standard that couldn’t be challenged.

And that’s what broke him.

The Missing Piece

I’ve been thinking about this all day, and I finally understand why. It’s the piece of Rosenberg’s framework that he never explained to me, or maybe never figured out himself.

If all anger comes from false assumptions about intent, then verified truth, the removal of all assumptions, should dissolve anger. DR’s brief wasn’t a flamethrower, it was a waterhose. The mechanism should resolve. Someone proves what actually happened, no spin, no motive-attribution, just facts. That should be the end of it.

That’s what Rosenberg taught me.

But it isn’t. It’s the beginning of the most explosive anger there is. Ryan lost his mind.
Why?

La Rochefoucauld saw this three hundred years ago: “We are so accustomed to disguising ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves.” He identified the phenomenon. He didn’t map the mechanism.

The answer is embarrassingly simple:
We carry false assumptions about our own intentions.

We tell ourselves we are good.

Why we lie to ourselves about ourselves
We tell ourselves we didn’t do it for petty reasons. We tell ourselves ego wasn’t driving the decision. We tell ourselves the cruelty was necessary, the shortcut was harmless, the motive was professional.

We tell ourselves we are good.
We tell ourselves we didn’t do it for the money.
We tell ourselves it wasn’t our ego driving the decision.

Ryan Evans, I suspect, had a story about why he included that middle name. Maybe he told himself it was editorial rigor. Maybe he told himself it was accountability. Maybe he told himself it was justified by something CP had done. I don’t know what story he told himself, because I don’t make assumptions about intent.

More importantly Ryan has a story about WarOnTheRocks. He has a story about how it’s good. How it’s not about the money. How it’s independent from the swamp.

What I know is that when DR published verified facts, with no assumptions, no spin, no narrative, she didn’t just challenge what Ryan did. She challenged the story Ryan had been telling himself.

An accusation from a mob can be dismissed. Those people are wrong. Those people are partisan. Those people don’t know the full story. The false assumption is theirs, and you can reject it.

But when someone proves the truth, with documentation, with verification, with no assumptions at all, there is no external target. The only false assumption left is yours.
About yourself.

And at that point you have a choice: accept what is now obvious about your own motives, or let a wave of anger crash so hard that it completely blinds you from the evidence you don’t want to see.

Truth hurts. Most people choose the wave.

The psychologist Leon Festinger documented this in the 1950s. When cult members were confronted with undeniable proof that their doomsday prophecy had failed, they didn’t leave. They became more committed. The belief was too central to who they were.

Updating it would have meant admitting they’d organized their identity around a lie.

This is the same mechanism. It operates in marriages, in boardrooms, in newsrooms, and in politics. Verified truth is the most dangerous weapon in public discourse. Not because it makes people think. Because it threatens the story they cannot afford to stop believing about themselves.

Why Data Republican Works

Now I understand what makes DR so effective, and it’s not what most people think.
I gave her nitroglycerin and she published a report she believed would dissapoint me.
It did the opposite. It invigorated me and blew a torpedeo sized hole in the side of War on The Rocks.

Most effective political operators use motive-attribution. They assign intent. They build narratives. They are loud and inflammatory and they generate engagement through the anger cycle Rosenberg described.

DR does none of that. Her method is the opposite of the Marcuse playbook. No assumptions about intent. No shortcuts. No neat three-word explanations of what someone was really thinking.

Cold. Hard Facts.

But not just any facts. Lots of people do that. Here facts are aimed directly at the left’s perception of themselves.

She takes the unfocused anger of a crowd, which is built on a thousand unverified assumptions, and she distills it down to verified facts. Then she feeds those facts to the person responsible.

The crowd’s anger was manageable because it was built on assumptions Ryan could reject. DR’s facts were unmanageable because they left Ryan alone with his own.

That’s the method. It doesn’t generate anger. It redirects existing anger from an unfocused, assumption-laden cloud into a precise beam of truth aimed at the one person whose self-story can’t survive it.

And that’s why truth hurts more than any lie.

The Complete Picture

The entire apparatus of motive-attribution, every racism accusation, every phobia label, every shortcut disguised as analysis, depends on one condition: assumption of intent without checking receipts. That’s the master Marxist shortcut. The glitch in the matrix.

People like Data Republican check the receipts, boil them down like a Utah distiller, and reinject them into the borg.

And on a personal level, that’s why Dad was angry. When I screwed up he didn’t explode because I made a mistake. He flashed back to himself making the same mistake in Vietnam. My action burst the bubble he’d built around the war to protect himself from what he’d witnessed. The bubble burst and the horrors of war streamed out.

He got angry at the demons streaming out of him. He was yelling at them to get back inside. To not touch me.

My anger at him in later years was wrong too. I thought he was mad at me. Then a psychiatrist told me he was really mad at himself. Another told me he was mad at the nation that sent him to war. None of those explanations seemed right. I knew he died resolute against communism.

What he was really mad at was the demons of war escaping. The unholy demons of anger communists unleashed.

Very interesting, and worth more than the skim-through that I gave it.

It brings several things to mind:
People’s preferences for simple explanations, especially ones that come with a moral appraisal attached, can result in judging others. Scripture says not to judge. We can judge whether behavior, an act, is right or wrong, but we do not know the hearts, motives, and intentions of other individuals.

“You’re racist” is a judgment of someone’s thoughts and motives. The Left has branded an entire segment of the population with this and many other labels. It happens on the Right as well, usually on more of an individual level.

Anytime people jump to conclusions, I think it behooves them to stop and consider whether they are relying on a simple explanation that might or might not be the truth. A number of such circumstances come up periodically. Conclusions that people turn to, that become conventional wisdom due to repetition, are not always correct. IMO, it is important to try to keep such conclusions from becoming mainstream thought while at the same time seeking the truth.

The hypothesis that people’s identities might be wedded to the ideas to which they cling, causing them to resist any and all challenges to those ideas, makes sense. Each person has to examine this for him- or herself.

Maybe not, but we can certainly judge the totality of their worldview.

How does one have a good heart, or good motives or intentions, if they are a member of, and vote for, the God-hating, America-hating, Constitution-hating, baby-murder loving Party of Sodom & Gomorrah?

And that’s just the short list.

What defense is there to any of that, which can possibly align with the only objective determination of ‘good’ there is, given by God in His Word?

There isn’t any.

How can they hate God and oppose His Word and be ‘good’?

How can they hate America and everything morally just that America stands for, and be ‘good’?

How can they hate the Constitution and seek to twist and subvert and upend it at every opportunity, and be ‘good’?

How can they support and advocate for the murder of 66+ million innocent babies in the womb, and be ‘good’?

And how can they support and promote every perverted and degenerate sexual activity under the sun, and be ‘good’ or ‘virtuous’ or ‘righteous’?

No matter what they tell themselves?

Maybe not, but we can certainly judge the totality of their worldview.

I agree.

scott467

“Scripture says not to judge.”

_____________

Brave Ai: “The primary scriptural basis for this command is Matthew 7:1-5, where Jesus states, “Judge not, that you be not judged,” warning that the same standard used to criticize others will be applied to the critic.

This teaching is reinforced in Luke 6:37, which adds, “Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned,” linking judgment with the necessity of forgiveness.

Context and Nuance

• Hypocrisy vs. Discernment: The prohibition specifically targets hypocritical, self-righteous, or condemning judgment, not all forms of discernment.

• Jesus immediately follows the command by instructing believers to remove the “log” from their own eye before addressing the “speck” in another’s.

• Righteous Judgment: Other passages clarify that believers are called to exercise right judgment rather than judging by outward appearances (John 7:24) or speaking evil against one another (James 4:11).

• Church Discipline: The Bible distinguishes between harsh, personal condemnation and the church’s role in addressing serious sin among believers with a spirit of restoration (Galatians 6:1, 1 Corinthians 5).”

.

Me: Does Scripture not also command that we judge?

Brave Ai: “Yes, Scripture explicitly commands believers to judge in specific contexts, distinguishing between condemning others (which is forbidden) and exercising righteous judgment or discernment (which is required).

The Command to Judge Righteously
While Matthew 7:1 warns against hypocritical condemnation, Jesus directly commands the opposite in John 7:24: “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

This instruction clarifies that the prohibition in Matthew is against superficial, biased, or self-righteous criticism, not against making moral distinctions or evaluating truth.

Believers are called to look beneath the surface and assess situations based on God’s standards rather than human opinion.” (boldface mine)

Yes. I tried to distill that down to show that we have to judge in certain instances, but we are not to judge in the ways described.

Wolf Moon

IMO the very idea of the binary of “racist” vs. “not a racist” is a fallacy – a fallacy intentionally created by communists as a very successful tactic (somebody once explained the history of this to me). That is why I am leaning toward rejecting the idea of racism completely.

Wolf Moon

In my experience, an extremely high percentage of “conflict-originating personal insults” on the internet are actually jokes that the offended person either didn’t get, or didn’t get in the intended spirit.

My recommendation is to never respond to personal insults until you’ve gotten the joke. If, after hours or days, you still haven’t gotten the joke, cannot find an innocent explanation, and are certain that it really is an insult (though it still probably isn’t), then SILENCE is the best response anyway, so simply continue the non-response and wait for more evidence.

This is one reason sites benefit from people who openly make jokes that others typically don’t understand. It helps people develop the expectation and the necessary decoding skills.

TheseTruths

My recommendation is to never respond to personal insults until you’ve gotten the joke.

I agree. On a few occasions I have experienced direct conversations with someone here, in which I was told exactly “what I think” (what that person decided I was thinking). It was not a joke, and they were wrong and were disparaging me, wrongly interpreting my statements and motives, and hampering any ability for discussion. Thankfully, the person who did that the most no longer comments here.

Wolf Moon

Telling people what they think is extremely annoying! LOL!

TheseTruths

IMO it is a form of abuse that tells someone they are not who they know themselves to be, and that their thoughts are not their own. It says that the abuser, only, knows who they are. It rips someone’s identity away from them if they are not aware. Those are characteristics of control and bullying.

This would be particularly damaging to children and those who do not understand what is being done to them. For those who do understand, it is annoying and maddening. Not falling into the abuser’s trap is key.

Wolf Moon

Definitely abuse! And the resemblance to hypnotic suggestion tends to imply that the latter, done surreptitiously, is also a form of abuse.

I am completely lost about this.

It’s not that I don’t understand; it’s that it makes no sense to me.

I have spent my life trying to figure out why people do the things that they do [not for entertainment but usually to stay out of someone’s way or to fit in]. At the same time, I’ve tried to explain my actions to those who misunderstood me.

Why anyone would choose to do what has been recited here [whether consciously or otherwise] just baffles me.

BTW there seems to be little purpose in the several ‘hiding’ spaces; what wasn’t hidden is still too long to be left out. 🙃

Robert Baker

Why anyone would choose to do what has been recited here [whether consciously or otherwise] just baffles me.

Chalk it up to the vicious side of human nature. Likely one of the seven deadly sins. Almost all people have believed they have been wronged by someone, at some time. They want to balance the scales. After that it is just a question of means and opportunity. I remember scene from The Wrath of Kahn where someone asks Kahn why he hates Kirk. Kahn says, “He tasks me.” That was all the justification he needed.

We’ve actually been on a road like this…..fortunately, we were on foot on a jeep-width road.

We were climbing “The Haystack” just north of Mt. Shasta.

https://www.hikespeak.com/trails/haystack-trail-mount-shasta/

You don’t have to be completely insane to drive this trail, but it helps.

Aubergine

There is a dirt road here over the mountains to my east. I have driven over it exactly once. I never will again.

The reason why is, there is a hairpin curve you go around, and if you look back on the road you just passed over, you see that there is about ten feet of earth under the roadbed, and then nothing. I mean literally nothing except a couple of hundred feet of air. Nothing at all supporting the road except that ten feet of ground.

When I saw that, when we went back home from the other side of the mountains, we went the long way around, on the nice paved highway!

Reminds me of several scenes from the classic Wages of Fear (1953, directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot, starring Yves Montand, rated 8.5 out of 10 at blu-ray.com), and the 1977 remake by William Friedkin, titled Sorcerer (starring Roy Scheider).

Henri-Geroges Clouzot was also the director of the classic thriller Diabolique (1955, starring Simone Signoret and Véra Clouzot, the director’s wife, she was also in Wages of Fear). Diabolique is rated 8.3 out of 10 at blu-ray.com.

This trailer (Wages of Fear) doesn’t really show it, but for a good portion of the movie, they are traveling up a mountain road like the one in Coothie’s pic, with trucks full of nitroglycerin.

students are not proficient in English, but they need Arabic studies? Qatar spent nearly a half million dollars in donations to Texas schools for arabic culture and language study. And why does the school need H-1b visas for school workers?

FTA
On Tuesday, Gov. Greg Abbott unveiled an initiative aimed at eliminating foreign influence in Texas K-12 education.
“Our obligation is to educate students on how and why 13 colonies were able to come together, form a union, and go on to be the most successful and greatest country in history. … Those standards of what we are teaching our children, they’re being compromised by foreign influence,” Abbott said. “We cannot condone the quiet indoctrination of our children in the classroom.”
Abbott’s plan includes removing foreign government influence from Texas public schools and prohibiting schools from employing workers through the H-1B visa program, which he says would open more job opportunities for Texans.
According to Abbott, the initiative builds on his earlier directive freezing state agencies and universities from applying for new H-1B visa petitions, with the goal of ensuring employment opportunities are offered to Texans first.
Under Abbott’s plan, foreign entities would be prohibited from using gifts, partnerships, or other financial agreements to gain influence over Texas schools and what students are taught in classrooms.

Instances of foreign influence have been documented, particularly in the Austin Independent School District, where Qatar Foundation International gave the district a total of $462,000 to support Arabic language and culture instruction from 2016 to 2022, according to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.
According to records obtained by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, Qatar Foundation International paid for Arabic instructors at Austin High School and Burnet Middle School, along with curricular materials and instructional resources. The group also found that materials used by Austin ISD included textbooks and workbooks from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Egypt, and Qatar.
The foundation reported a similar situation in Houston ISD, where “Qatari influence went beyond hiring teachers and providing learning materials as funding went to the Arabic Language and Culture program at the Arabic Immersion Magnet School.”
Former Houston ISD Superintendent Terry Grier also signed off on a grant agreement with Qatar Foundation International in 2015 that allowed its staff and consultants to observe classroom instruction.
However, Abbott’s initiative goes beyond restricting foreign money from entering public schools. His plan would also prohibit public schools from employing workers through the H-1B visa program.
In 2025, Dallas ISD alone received 230 H-1B approvals, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The district says that it uses the H-1B visa program to fill positions, including elementary bilingual (English/Spanish) and special education teachers.
Abbott is calling on the Legislature to pass legislation that will put a total ban on H-1B workers in Texas public schools, with Abbott declaring that “exactly zero Texas public school employees should be here on H-1B visas.”
Abbott concluded his opening comments by emphasizing that foreign influence should have no impact on Texas schools or students.
“Bottom line is, foreign influence of any kind has no place in our classrooms. We will achieve that goal,” Abbott said.

EACH DAY WE TAKE UP THE OFFENSIVE WEAPON OF THE WORD OF GOD – THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – ONE VERSE OPENS THE DOOR TO THE CONTEXT OF THE CHAPTER MESSAGE

Verse of the Day for Thursday, August 20, 2026

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)

COMMENTARY FOR EPHESIANS 2

The riches of God’s grace towards men, shown from their deplorable state by nature, and the happy change Divine grace makes in them. (1-10) The Ephesians called to reflect on their state of heathenism. (11-13) And the privileges and blessings of the gospel. (14-22)

1-10 Sin is the death of the soul. A man dead in trespasses and sins has no desire for spiritual pleasures. When we look upon a corpse, it gives an awful feeling. A never-dying spirit is now fled, and has left nothing but the ruins of a man. But if we viewed things aright, we should be far more affected by the thought of a dead soul, a lost, fallen spirit. A state of sin is a state of conformity to this world. Wicked men are slaves to Satan. Satan is the author of that proud, carnal disposition which there is in ungodly men; he rules in the hearts of men. From Scripture it is clear, that whether men have been most prone to sensual or to spiritual wickedness, all men, being naturally children of disobedience, are also by nature children of wrath. What reason have sinners, then, to seek earnestly for that grace which will make them, of children of wrath, children of God and heirs of glory! God’s eternal love or good-will toward his creatures, is the fountain whence all his mercies flow to us; and that love of God is great love, and that mercy is rich mercy. And every converted sinner is a saved sinner; delivered from sin and wrath. The grace that saves is the free, undeserved goodness and favour of God; and he saves, not by the works of the law, but through faith in Christ Jesus. Grace in the soul is a new life in the soul. A regenerated sinner becomes a living soul; he lives a life of holiness, being born of God: he lives, being delivered from the guilt of sin, by pardoning and justifying grace. Sinners roll themselves in the dust; sanctified souls sit in heavenly places, are raised above this world, by Christ’s grace. The goodness of God in converting and saving sinners heretofore, encourages others in after-time, to hope in his grace and mercy. Our faith, our conversion, and our eternal salvation, are not of works, lest any man should boast. These things are not brought to pass by any thing done by us, therefore all boasting is shut out. All is the free gift of God, and the effect of being quickened by his power. It was his purpose, to which he prepared us, by blessing us with the knowledge of his will, and his Holy Spirit producing such a change in us, that we should glorify God by our good conversation, and perseverance in holiness. None can from Scripture abuse this doctrine, or accuse it of any tendency to evil. All who do so, are without excuse.

11-13 Christ and his covenant are the foundation of all the Christian’s hopes. A sad and terrible description is here; but who is able to remove himself out of it? Would that this were not a true description of many baptized in the name of Christ. Who can, without trembling, reflect upon the misery of a person, separated for ever from the people of God, cut off from the body of Christ, fallen from the covenant of promise, having no hope, no Saviour, and without any God but a God of vengeance, to all eternity? To have no part in Christ! What true Christian can hear this without horror? Salvation is far from the wicked; but God is a help at hand to his people; and this is by the sufferings and death of Christ.

14-18 Jesus Christ made peace by the sacrifice of himself; in every sense Christ was their Peace, the author, centre, and substance of their being at peace with God, and of their union with the Jewish believers in one church. Through the person, sacrifice, and mediation of Christ, sinners are allowed to draw near to God as a Father, and are brought with acceptance into his presence, with their worship and services, under the teaching of the Holy Spirit, as one with the Father and the Son. Christ purchased leave for us to come to God; and the Spirit gives a heart to come, and strength to come, and then grace to serve God acceptably.

19-22 The church is compared to a city, and every converted sinner is free of it. It is also compared to a house, and every converted sinner is one of the family; a servant, and a child in God’s house. The church is also compared to a building, founded on the doctrine of Christ; delivered by the prophets of the Old Testament, and the apostles of the New. God dwells in all believers now; they become the temple of God through the working of the blessed Spirit. Let us then ask if our hopes are fixed on Christ, according to the doctrine of his word? Have we devoted ourselves as holy temples to God through him? Are we habitations of God by the Spirit, are we spiritually-minded, and do we bring forth the fruits of the Spirit? Let us take heed not to grieve the holy Comforter. Let us desire his gracious presence, and his influences upon our hearts. Let us seek to discharge the duties allotted to us, to the glory of God.

Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.

Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered !!!

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

HAVE A VERY BLESSED DAY !!!  ❤️❤️❤️

TradeBait2

Great article and info, Gail. the degree of user success with his recommendations may vary, but in general will be quite good from personal experience. Since I am a major Keto adherent, I learned from this I need to pay closer attention to niacin supplementing. Wifey has already being doing that through a Young Living daily cell support product.

I can vouch for Krill over regular fish oil supplements from practical usage over years. I no longer need it due to increased intake of fish, Salmon in particular, in my diet. if I ever needed to go back, I would use Krill. I had the same discussion about Krill versus regular fish oil years ago with a pharmacist friend. The doc’s personal experience and recommendations mirror with I told that friend. Vindication.

I will have an authored health update post down the road that describes progress for both of us relating to Keto style nutrition and related changes. Keep up the great work of informing folks and thank you!

Aubergine

Be careful with niacin, it’s tricky. Many people have a fairly unpleasant reaction to supplementation with it.

TradeBait2

Will do. Will ease into and see how it goes.

Gudthots

For some people niacin supplementation causes histamine issues. I recently learned that your body needs B2 to make the B3 (niacin) work right. And the B3 working right uses up the substances needed for methylation. So may need to add TMG when increasing B3. All learned using alterai.systems to find the sources for this information.

Aubergine

Whoo, there’s a lot of info in here, Gail! Thanks for posting.

I do have a couple of thoughts (when don’t I, lol?).

First, there is a supplement I always take for cardiovascular health that he doesn’t mention. That is hawthorn berry. That is the best herbal I know for general heart health:

Hawthorn berry is a small fruit rich in plant antioxidants that supports heart health, lowers blood pressure, improves blood fats, and helps digestion. [1, 2, 3]
Heart and Circulation

  • Lowers blood pressure: Relaxes blood vessels to improve blood flow.
  • Aids heart function: May reduce symptoms in people with mild heart failure.
  • Improves cholesterol: Helps lower bad LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. [1, 2, 3]

Body Wellness

  • Fights cell damage: High in polyphenols that neutralize harmful free radicals.
  • Aids digestion: Acts as a prebiotic fiber to support healthy gut bacteria.
  • Reduces inflammation: Protects organs from oxidative stress.

NEXT, I don’t think most people realize what they are eating versus what they are drinking. If I could ban ONE THING from the diet of every human, it would be SODA. People have no idea how much sugar is in those things. So I did a little experiment for you.

Important fact first: a medium-size McDonald’s soda is approx. 21 ounces, with NO refills.

I asked Google AI for a handful of comparisons:

Which has more?

A 20-ounce Coca-Cola has significantly more sugar than a standard piece of apple pie. [1, 2]
Sugar Content Breakdown

  • 20-Ounce Coca-Cola: Contains 65 grams of sugar (about 16 teaspoons).
  • Standard Slice of Apple Pie: Contains roughly 18 to 29 grams of sugar (about 4 to 7 teaspoons), depending on the recipe and slice size.

A 20-ounce Coke has significantly more sugar than a typical slice of New York cheesecake.
Sugar Comparison

  • 20-ounce Coca-Cola: Contains 65 grams of sugar (about 16 teaspoons).
  • Piece of New York Cheesecake: Contains about 20 to 30 grams of sugar per standard slice. [1, 2, 3]

A 20-ounce Coca-Cola has more sugar (65 grams) than a typical Dairy Queen mini Blizzard (which usually ranges from about 40 to 60 grams depending on the flavor). [1, 2]
Sugar Content Comparison

  • 20-Ounce Coca-Cola: Contains 65 grams of sugar (about 16 teaspoons).
  • Dairy Queen Mini Blizzard: Generally contains between 39 grams and 58 grams of sugar, depending on the specific flavor. [1, 2, 3, 4]

People are KILLING themselves with soda. That shit should be banned.

Aubergine

Exactly right about the caffeine.

Hawthorn berry is awesome! I think everybody should take it.

TradeBait2

I ordered some when you first mentioned it recently. Will start soon.

Aubergine

 👍

barkerjim

I what form? Extract, powdered, tea?

Aubergine

I order it in capsule form. You want the whole berry, dried. There are extracts, but I prefer less processing if possible.

I agree on sodas. Gave them up over 30 years ago and got wifey to do the same a few years later. Daughter/SonIL and family are off them now as well.

pgroup

Would I kill myself with cheesecake?

That’s a distinct possibility.

  :wpds_lol:

Aubergine

I enjoy dessert. But I only eat it after a good, solid meal with protein.

If you eat sweets on an empty stomach, you are much more likely to overdo it, in my opinion. After a sizeable steak, a few bites are enough!

Never enough bites of cheesecake!

And soda is carbonated. The carbonation depletes the body of important nutritional factors too. Kind of a “melts your bones” type activity.

Good morning, C&C, it’s Thursday! Your roundup includes: the Fauci text message Catherine Herridge pried loose this week, in which the nation’s most-quoted epidemiologist opened with I’m sending this via text messaging to avoid any FOIA issues and then quietly informed the entire Biden Covid team that the cloth masks they were mandating don’t work — a private confession delivered sixteen months after the CDC taught America to fight a respiratory virus with a coffee filter and a cut-up T-shirt, and while the rest of us were getting our accounts locked for noticing; the Treasury Department’s new proposed rules reclassifying four refundable tax credits as federal public benefits, which under Bill Clinton’s own 1996 welfare reform law means non-citizens can’t collect them — a million people, three billion dollars, and an overdue admission that a “refund” to somebody who never paid a dime is not a refund; and Ryder Williams, the 16-year-old Santa Cruz lifeguard who threw down his radio, sprinted into the surf, hauled out an unconscious ten-year-old, collected a High Civilian Honor in the Oval Office, and then described the whole business as “part of our daily task” — a phrase that inspired me to review my own daily task diary, where yesterday’s entry reads: argued with family. Lost.

man in tunic is seen washing his clothes in a Maine River sparking outrage. I hardly think this man was using or even KNOWS about “marine safe soap”.
FTA
Photographs of a man appearing to clean his clothes in a scenic Maine river have sparked outrage online as locals voiced concerns about the impact on nature.
One image sent to the Maine Wire shows a man in a long stripy tunic bent over the Androscoggin River, while another shows him holding a bundle of clothes.
The Maine Wire said a ‘source’ took the photographs from a vantage point over Great Falls, which sits between the towns of Auburn and Lewiston.
White suds can be seen swirling in the water in the second image as the man in the orange tunic walked across the rocks after allegedly cleaning his clothes.
‘Besides the obvious absurdity, surfactants in detergent are toxic to fish, invertebrates, algae, and other aquatic life,’ the Wire wrote on X.
‘They can damage the protective mucus layer on fish, irritate or destroy gills, impair oxygen uptake, and disrupt cell membranes.’
The X post prompted widespread outrage, with readers lamenting the dangers of allowing detergent to leak into a public waterway, while condemning the move as uncivilized.
A small number of people in the comment section also leapt to the man’s defense, including one person who pointed out that he may have been using ‘marine safe soap’.

Daily Mail reporter MaryAnn Martinez wrote on X:

KARMELO ANTHONY BOMBSHELL:

Karmelo Anthony’s girlfriend, Valeria, went to the school the morning of the Austin Metcalf stabbing, April 2, 2025, and told school officials she had broken up with Anthony and he was stalking her. One hour later, Austin was dead at the track meet, according to Collin County prosecutor Bill Wirskye revealed at Karmelo Anthony’s hearing for a new trial today.

“I’m low key on the verge,” Anthony said in text the morning of the stabbing.

Wirskye says Anthony had a history of violence and wanted to stab someone.

“There is a text message where he fantasizes about stabbing someone and licking the blood off the blade,” Wirkskye said of Anthony.

He was obsessed with starting fights, Wirskye added, revealing Anthony had previously been taken to his parents to a special program at LSU for kids who can’t keep their hands to themselves.

These details were part of a 404 motion the state had prepared regarding character and prior acts, which the defense had sought to keep out of the original trial.
