Moore falsely claimed that he was born and grew up in Baltimore, which he did not; that he was inducted into the Maryland College Football Hall of Fame, an organization that doesn’t exist; that he received a Bronze Star for his service in Afghanistan, which he had not; that in 2006 he was considered a foremost expert on radical Islam based on his graduate thesis, which he never submitted to Oxford University’s library and can no longer locate; that he was a doctoral candidate at Oxford in 2006, a claim he has no documentation to support and on which Oxford refuses to comment; and that he had “a difficult childhood in the Bronx and Baltimore” despite attending New York City’s elite, private Riverdale Country School—where John F. Moore’s story about his grandfather may be 100 years old, but for centuries, churches, including those that served poor communities, have kept detailed records about their congregants and, even more so, about their clergy. Moore’s great-grandfather, referred to as the “Rev. J.J. Thomas” in contemporary reporting, served as a clergyman at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Pineville, S.C., under the South Carolina Colored Convocation, according to the annual directories of the Episcopal Church. Based about 60 miles north of Charleston, Thomas worked at the church from 1922 to late 1924, following an eight-year stint preaching at various Presbyterian churches throughout South Carolina and Georgia.
But from there, Moore’s narrative falls apart. During an appearance on Andrew Yang’s podcast in 2020, Moore said the Ku Klux Klan ran his grandfather and “the rest of my family out of this country, not just out of Charleston, South Carolina.” Time added to the narrative in 2023, reporting that Moore’s great-grandfather was “targeted for lynching,” making the governor “well acquainted with the case against America.” Moore said in a May commencement speech at Lincoln University, a historically black college in Pennsylvania, that his grandfather was “chased away by the Ku Klux Klan” because “my great-grandfather was a vocal minister in the community.”

My understanding is that the purpose of the 2nd amendment is for the protection of the citizen from their government. I assume the National Guard units are considered as instruments of the state and would qualify as militia. I do not understand how states can outlaw private militia if it is determined that the purpose of the private militia is to protect citizens against government overreach.

Little real life story, years ago ( maybe 30) my brother married a girl raised as Methodist. Her family very devout only barely tolerated a bunch of Catholics (our family) in the church for the ceremony. They were so proud and truly dedicated to their faith.
Fast forward probably 20 years from then…their whole belief system was broken. I never knew what the issues were but her entire family and friends became estranged from the Methodist church and never returned. I felt sorry for them since all those years before I could tell they felt a bit superior.

He didn’t want to be alone and therefore went along. The teachers took the kids on a walk through White Center, Washington for the protest. Many areas there aren’t particularly safe. Per the father, the school alleged that they gave the kids options if they wanted to go or not. They also claimed that it was the kids’ choice to protest and that the teachers were just joining. Per the school’s principal, both teachers and school security were in attendance. This violates Washington State law 28A.605.010, which prohibits children from being removed from school grounds during school hours without permission from the children’s parents or legal guardian.

Observe the timeline:
June 2025, Trump and Elon have a very public social media spat that leads to a falling out, in which Elon claims Trump is in the Epstein files.
The result of this feud was a MASSIVE rise in public interest in Epstein, particularly on the Left.
Jump to the present, Trump and Elon have slowly and quietly gotten back on good terms. Elon has attended multiple events with Trump, including private dinners, Scavino’s wedding, Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, and a White House dinner with Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman.
Elon dropped his whole “America Party” opposition to Trump, publicly said he will back the GOP in the 2026 midterms, and donated to Republicans PACs in order to prevent the “radical Left takeover”.
Now the new batch of Epstein files comes out, proving that Epstein was a Democrat financier/puppeteer, and shows that Trump and Epstein were enemies. Trump was mentioned many times, but not because he was implicated in any crimes, but because the Democrats were emailing each other about how to stop Trump from becoming President, and how to sabotage him once he was in office.

Something is very strange about it all. She’s missing for five days, but without her meds they said she had 48 hours. Do they really think she’s still alive? Did the kidnappers take the meds with them?
I’m sure Savannah probably did buy the house. The other sister doesn’t even resemble Savannah. Is she adopted or something?

So, I’m going to tell this chronologically.
A couple of nights ago, the fire alarm in our bedroom went off in the middle of the night — woke The Fiancee up. It’s one of these newfangled 10-year battery ones so there was no way to pull the 9V and debug it the next day….and it kept shrieking, so I reluctantly twisted the “kill and discharge” switch, despite only being 6 years into the 10.
I looked online for a replacement, but this was last years’ model and thus twice the price. This year’s model didn’t have a light, so I decided to haul myself down to Home Depot and look at what they had.
I drove to the Campbell Home Depot in the afternoon and could smell gas as soon as I went through the doors into the store. I turned to the Refunds and Exchanges desk near the door. Two young ladies were finishing with another customer so I waited while that customer walked away. They proceeded to ignore me and discuss random subjects until I said, “excuse me” rather loudly.
That got one looking at me, at least, so I said, “you may want to know that I’m smelling natural gas right here.” She asked if I wanted her to call a manager. I explained that I was wanting to purchase a fire alarm and leave and that she should deal with it. She said, vaguely, that there had been a gas thing (waving her hand toward a heating unit about 15 feet above the ground over the door) and that PG&E and everyone had fixed it.
Thinking that the smell might not have fully dispersed if they fixed it a couple of hours ago, I asked her when this happened, and got a lot of vague word salad. After winding down a bit, she allowed that it had been a couple of months.
I said, “it wasn’t fixed,” and she offered again to summon a manager. I told her I wasn’t interested but that she needed to do something. Then I went off to get the fire alarm and deal with the rest of my day.
But I kept having visions of the building blowing up, and the girl’s last words being, “Yeah, whatever….”
So, today, I called the fire department. They said they’d send someone by to check it out.
The Fiancee and I went on a cruise a few years back (2016) and one of the people at our table had a gas leak story. Her husband had come home one night, unlocked the door, reached in to turn on the porch light, and found himself on the ground 30 feet from his porch. He hadn’t known that gas had filled his house and switching on the light furnished a spark. He just knew that between one moment of consciousness and the next he had been displaced.
And, of course, I’m still shaking my head that it was more important for this girl to be rude and pawn the problem off to someone else than to listen to a person trying to save her life.
Yeah. WOW. Gas leaks. I’ve spotted two in my life. One caused a yard to get dug up by the gas company, and the other was a known release of propane from an automated system, deemed normal. You did the right thing!!!
I’m just stunned by the lack of common sense and self-preservation. I shouldn’t have to present an impromptu dissertation on the dangers of gas leaks before someone sitting under one will be motivated to get of their ass.

Why yes; yes it is. Nonstop farts from a guy the size of three elephants. They blow up often.
As a side note, the ones with lights were advertised as being for hallways and providing light to find your way out. In practice, however, the lights strobed. It was still handy for figuring out which fire alarm was going off, but I could easily imagine a scenario where an unfortunate owner would wake up to the alarm, start to exit, be triggered into seizure by the strobe, and found later as crispy remains.
Regardless of whether this is the reason, there weren’t any alarms with lights at HD.
