Here at the Q tree we believe in the concept of CIVIL open free speech and the discussion that fleshes out ideas. When commenting and participating in the OPEN discussion on this thread all comments MUST NOT CONTAIN personal threats, baiting, name calling, or other anti-social words fomenting hate, violence or destruction. Our host Wolfm00n has strict rules about that.

Those who have things to say that do not fit the generally accepted limits of “civil” discussion, Wolf has provided a venue known as the UTree. You’re welcome to visit over there and say hi to anyone hanging out over there. The “Rescue Thread” is also over there. In the event a rendezvous of the tree is needed, please check it out, as well as the newest rescue venue.

8Thus says the LORD: “In a time of favor I have answered you, in a day of salvation I have helped you; I have kept you and given you as a covenant to the people, to establish the land, to apportion the desolate heritages; 9saying to the prisoners, `Come forth,’ to those who are in darkness, `Appear.’ They shall feed along the ways, on all bare heights shall be their pasture; 10they shall not hunger or thirst, neither scorching wind nor sun shall smite them, for he who has pity on them will lead them, and by springs of water will guide them. 11And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be raised up. 12Lo, these shall come from afar, and lo, these from the north and from the west, and these from the land of Syene.” 13Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the LORD has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his afflicted. 14But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, my Lord has forgotten me.” 15“Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.
JOHN 5:17-30
17But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working still, and I am working.” 18This was why the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath but also called God his Father, making himself equal with God. 19Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever he does, that the Son does likewise. 20For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all that he himself is doing; and greater works than these will he show him, that you may marvel. 21For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. 22The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. 25“Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself, 27and has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of man. 28Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment. 30“I can do nothing on my own authority; as I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.

It is quite clear, as per Wolf’s message from July, that we are under spiritual attack. Building up a robust arsenal of prayer and discipline is a must in fighting the enemy and his minions.
In that spirit, the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel from Tuesday’s threads, and the Breastplate of St. Patrick, not to mention the Litany of Humility are favorites recommended by exorcists in spiritual warfare.

1After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Hebrew called Beth-za’tha, which has five porticoes. 3In these lay a multitude of invalids, blind, lame, paralyzed. 5One man was there, who had been ill for thirty-eight years. 6When Jesus saw him and knew that he had been lying there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” 7The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is troubled, and while I am going another steps down before me.” 8Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your pallet, and walk.” 9And at once the man was healed, and he took up his pallet and walked. Now that day was the sabbath. 10So the Jews said to the man who was cured, “It is the sabbath, it is not lawful for you to carry your pallet.” 11But he answered them, “The man who healed me said to me, `Take up your pallet, and walk.'” 12They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, `Take up your pallet, and walk’?” 13Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place. 14Afterward, Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse befall you.” 15The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. 16And this was why the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did this on the sabbath.

MUSIC!
How about some more bluegrass? Heck yeah!
THE STUFF
First, some explanation…..
Because of major fixes in key aspects of my health, I am now able to spend enough time on upcoming posts that they don’t all have to be identical placeholders. I can’t count on being here to do a bang-up Monday daily every week, because between healthcare appointments, healthcare scheduling, critical exercise to keep me healthy, home duties, minor crises, and unexpected crap, I can’t go much further than placeholders, done in advance, but I can do a batch of them that are not identical, and that is now the plan. I’m going to create several months of placeholders while I have a moment of moderately good health, and make minor modifications to all of them.
Each one will have a new word of the week, a new music video, and a new “feature” of some kind (often including interesting clickbait) for “the stuff”. I can create these well ahead of time, without waiting for the news.
I have to strike while the iron is hot. I now understand that my health is not guaranteed to be this good for longer than whatever time God chooses, so I will put the time to good use.
I know that God wants me working on this site, and not other “stuff” that is trying to drag me away. The other “stuff” has a purpose, too, but apparently this is more important. So be it.
Some of the features are going to be math and science videos that I find interesting – like this one!
Don’t feel like you can’t argue with or criticize either the science, math or history in anything that I post. That’s exactly what you SHOULD do!!!
I will also keep the Wheatie Warrior digital game artwork picture for the featured image. People seem to prefer that to the AI images. It’s comforting to y’all.
As we move toward the completion of BIMD, I want to focus this part more on the positive. It is in this part that God’s mysterious, awesome loving care was fully revealed to me. The stories about some personal heroes follow.
To set the stage, in Goober’s former life in the delta of AR and MO in the 70’s and 80’s there was a family that very few folks would know about today. The patriarch was a man of great character and competency in his work. He was my mentor with the utility company employer, a district manager. He was from a modest family background from a small rural town in southeastern MO called Ironton. He served in our military after WW II and went on after his enlistment was up to enter the utility industry. He married his high school sweetheart and they had a son together. It was during this period he was transferred south to the bootheel to Caruthersville by his employer who had both electricity and natural gas distribution operations in regions of Missouri and northeastern Arkansas. He was named the local manager of both utilities in that town.
Goober Moves To The Bootheel
That first entry level job with the utility company employer in that river town came after college and a stint in banking in Little Rock that brought all of its political connections and observations previously discussed. At the time I was still a rube, a nobody married into a somebody family that was yet to be fully groomed by the Dem/uniparty machine. I had unwittingly married into a wealthy family with long standing deep state as well as national Dem political and business connections that I had no idea even existed. However, the more I learned through the years the more uncomfortable and even fearful I became as discussed in other BIMD stories.
I reported to work in the small town of Caruthersville, MO with all of the family and political connections I needed to meet leaders, open doors and get my job done. Our District Manager, a few levels above me in the corporate structure, became my mentor as he had formerly lived in the town for a good number of years before his promotion into the home office in NE Arkansas. He was not a part of the Dem criminal machine, just an average guy that worked his tail off to do good work. When he was hired by the company back in his day, he was later named the youngest local manager in company history. The job I was assigned to perform provided good training and access all over the bootheel as I worked with contractors who were building energy efficient electric homes during the national shut down of natural gas access. Living in the community provided both good and bad connections as you can see from the previously linked Reeves (JER) interview in Scoundrels, Part 1. I tried to understand who was who better without aligning with anybody in particular.
George K. Reeves (GKR), the attorney who secured the job for me, had left and was selling his large home there to live in Memphis and when working, in New Orleans where the headquarters of the larger holding company of the utilities operation was located. He provided legal services as a function of his position on its Board of Directors. This holding company was the NYSE listed Middle South Utilities that had operations at that time in five states, which included nuclear power facilities going back to the late 60’s. It is now called Entergy Corporation, still based in New Orleans, and one of the nation’s largest publicly held power companies. During the years that followed my employment they sold off their natural gas company operations as well as smaller electrical distribution rights that crossed into border states. They are now located in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
There were other people in the community not mentioned in the JER interview who were also prominent. That was a good thing. One lived a few doors down from GKR. His name was Charles Southern, Jr., who soon became a friend. It also turned out he was a long term friend of Fred Smith, the entrepreneurial CEO of Federal Express. They had met each other in Memphis as younger men where both had common business and social activities. It was at this point I began to realize that once again I would be associating with some people who played at a high level. That was something I did not expect after leaving Little Rock for a small town in the Bootheel.
However, Charlie was different, more down to earth and not snobbish at all. He was a devoted family man with a wonderful wife and four kids. He acted as the CEO for his retired father’s barge towing business, Southern Towing, whose terminal was located in Memphis with their headquarters an hour north in Caruthersville where Charlie and family lived. That small town was where his father had started before it grew into a regional operation. The company had a GM running operations at its Memphis terminal. Charlie had also purchased a small, related maritime insurance brokerage he operated from Caruthersville. Later on after I had long since left the area, he moved his family to St. Louis after selling the barge business upon his Memphis based father’s death. He continued operating the insurance brokerage until his own death in 2017. His obit with bio information is below.
Charlie was one of the good guys. He was loved and a friend to many no matter their station in life. He was also unapologetic about his faith. He was very considerate, giving and helpful. I always regretted that our paths diverged due to the circumstances of work and life changes. I still wish I had listened to him in 1978 when he told me about Fred taking FedEx public and it being listed on the NYSE. After telling me what the company was about and Fred, he said that I should mortgage the house if I needed to buy their stock. Ole Goober did not have much money to do anything back in those days, but in hind sight I should have scraped whatever I could together to do so. I told my ex’s family about it, but they thought they knew everything and did not buy any either.
These people and more along with their associations, businesses, politics and more nefarious activities were in this little Mississippi River delta town of about 7500 people at that time. A population that has since declined to about 5500.
I was in that town only one year before being promoted to the nearby Kennett, MO office in adjacent Dunklin County. My mentor gave the honor of being the youngest local manager in company history to me and I was truly humbled. If you read the JER interview in Scoundrels, Part 1 you received insight about both counties; Pemiscot where Caruthersville was located as well as Dunklin. The political and government power structures in both were totally different. Essentially, they had nothing to do with each other, like there was a wall that separated them. The sheriff of many years in Dunklin had run a cleaner ship, unlike the criminal Sheriff Orton in Pemiscot.
Living in the two towns was also like night and day. In Kennett I was accepted immediately into the business community and put to work in the local UMC church and civic orgs. It was an enjoyable two years and I learned much about my work role, people in general, and the UMC denomination. My best friend from there, who later was the Best Man in my wedding to Wifey, was a big reason for that as he made sure I knew how things worked around there as well as more in the UMC power structure. He was a district lay leader for the conference and voting member at the UMC General Conference for many years. However, my stay in that town was not to last. It was a great training ground for the next role my mentor had in mind during our company’s merger into Arkansas Power & Light back in NE Arkansas where he was located. Much of the rest of this portion of that story was previously given in the earlier BIMDs.
It was from this man I learned about serving others with integrity in my occupation as well as corporate operations practices that I was able to utilize throughout my business career. After all I had seen and experienced at such a young age I was dangerously inching toward the grooming of the Dem controlled side of things with the continued exposure to my ex’s family, friends, political connections and business network. My mentor offered me alternative ways of looking at and doing things while still being able to enjoy life in each community. Subsequently, while still in their employment, I received similar exposure to another older, conservative political mentor as a board member in the company employees’ PAC back in Little Rock. This man was the assistant to the President of the company.
Through the years leading up to my time there, my local mentor’s son who was a decade older than me, completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri and enrolled in medical school at the University of TN medical school in Memphis. After a year there he joined the Army to serve his country and earn funding for future medical school expenses via the GI Bill. He was commissioned a Captain and was awarded a Bronze Star as a combat medic in Vietnam prior to his return in 1971. He reenrolled in medical school and completed his residency. While in Memphis he joined a group that developed one of the first urban trauma centers in America. With his experiences in the field in Vietnam he had developed a passion for trauma care and related surgery. When we met, he and his family had just moved back to the area, opened his surgical practice and lived nearby in town. The link to his obit below provides more details of this extraordinary man’s life.
Kenneth, his wife and kids were all good folks. It is an interesting oddity that both he and his father were named Kenneth and both his mother and wife were named Norma. We had some good conversations with the Kenneths and Normas over dinner on weekends for several years. He had developed a keen interest in organ transplants and later completed advanced studies, but chose not to go into the specialty as his occupation due to expenses and loss of income associated with leaving his practice as well as the requirement of completing a long residency to gain experience. He had a family to take care of and they came first. After his father passed away in the early 1990s, he and his family including his mother moved back to Memphis where he became a professor in the University of Tennessee medical school while remaining very active with the related foundation associated with transplants and organ donation. His wife passed away a couple of years after he did in 2019.
However, the interconnections in this story do not end there.
More Interconnections And Parallels
While Kenneth and his family were in NE Arkansas with his parents, he became friends with the surgeon/chief of staff for the hospital at the SAC AFB adjacent to the town. They had a lot in common with their military service and surgical backgrounds. This man would join us all for dinner on occasion. This talented surgeon later left the AF when his tour ended the year before my divorce and subsequent move to east TN. I learned from Kenneth he had decided to return to the UT medical school in Memphis for additional education and residency for a specialty as an OB/GYN. With all of his connections there, Kenneth helped get that done. I will leave his name out of this as he is still alive, retired and living relatively near us. I will call him Baby Doc for this story.
Meanwhile an Otolaryngologist (ENT) physician acquaintance who lived down the street went through a divorce a few months before me as his wife refused to leave the area for a much better opportunity he had received from a practice and hospital in east TN. She was a native of the area and the marriage had been rocky for some time, so he forced her hand and she divorced him. We neither one knew it at the time, however, both of us were heading to the same area about 500 miles away with divorce papers in hand looking for a fresh start.
We lost touch for a couple of years until one day this ENT’s new wife called our bank in East TN to inquire about a possible business loan for a new greenhouse business they were starting that she would operate. They were located in my assigned territory, so I took the call, went to see them, and had a good time catching up on everything with him. About ten years later he became the ENT my mother-in-law used until her passing. He is still practicing in this area part time, so I will leave his name out as well and just call him Nose Doc.
A year or so after we married and unbeknownst to me at the time, Wifey decided she would check out her ability to have a child. She told me she had a routine GYN exam scheduled and would drive herself. However, she had other plans. She knew she needed an OB/GYN who specialized in high risk pregnancies due to her age and to a nightmare first pregnancy, It was an emergency delivery prior to our marriage that landed her in a coma for several days. Her long term GYN made a referral to a practice with three OB/GYN physicians who worked out of an office adjacent to a preferred hospital.
As it turned out it was a practice located next door to the OB/GYN of the Warrior Queen, Pat Summitt. Her OB/GYN was a banking client of mine. This was discussed a bit in another past BIMD. Wifey got the all clear during the exam, we discussed it that evening and went on with life. It was not long until she was pregnant with Daughter.
Imagine my surprise when I saw Baby Doc’s name on the sign at the door when I joined her for one of the first appointments after becoming pregnant. I had not noticed it a year before when I was visiting with my customer, Pat’s doc. I had no idea Baby Doc had joined a practice in Knoxville after his residency was completed. I wanted to see him again to ask how things were going, however, he was never there when I came with her to exams. He seemed to always be in surgery or delivering a baby.
The big night came and the labor pains grew more frequent and so we headed to the hospital. Guess who was on call for their practice and waiting on us when we arrived? Hello, Baby Doc! We had a quick, happy visit and then prepped for the delivery. I had taken classes with Wifey to enable me to be in the operating room during delivery even with it being a planned, more extensive surgical procedure that involved tube tying. Baby Doc even allowed me to record the blessed event on my video camera, just behind a surgical curtain that had been erected on Wifey’s torso on the operating table.
Both Baby Doc and Nose Doc knew Kenneth well and went to UT Medical School during the same period. Both lived in the same small town in rural NE Arkansas when I lived there before moving to the same area nearly 500 miles away during the same year. One ended up delivering our daughter, the other taking care of my mother-in-law. Yup.
Then there was my interconnection with the families of the former residents of Caruthersville, MO. One’s father became my mentor. The son and a friend grew up and played sports together through high school and passed away at about 73 years of age about two months apart? Yup, Kenneth and Charlie.
What city did they all have in common? Memphis. in what city did Wifey and I first meet during the same general time period? Memphis. The same city that Dr. Adrian Rogers preached from, who so strongly influenced my spiritual life’s development. Memphis has been home to many very good and horribly bad things within our nation’s history. Most of my personal experiences were very good. With that in mind as well as past BIMD stories I give you…
Introspection
When I consider that all of these men, women, their families and friends were from and/or living in the same rural, podunk farm country of the Mississippi River delta; with several choosing to move to spend their lives where I do now without knowing we were doing so, I am blown away. Only a God who cares deeply for His children could arrange all of these connections and events in the manner and sequence they occurred. Sad, difficult situations led to better, happier ones. Life affirming relationships carried forward that led to helping others for decades. Taking the proper fork in the road led to joy and peace. Doing what was right in God’s sight when nobody was looking or paying attention led to lives well-lived.
These folks are heroes as far as I and many others who knew them are concerned. I give thanks for all and especially my Lord for His love and care. The evil that could have happened to me – did not. In essence I was alone and exposed without an understanding of how to use the armor of God. He provided people, many more than even described here, to be truth tellers and helpers that encouraged and educated me. I learned to pay closer attention to the Holy Spirit within me. And everyday since my awakening I simply pay it forward to others as opportunities are presented.
Some would call this inner sense or consciousness providing guidance as having intuition. Others say it is just being crazy. However, I know the truth is that it has always been the Hand of God through the Holy Spirit guiding me away from destruction, taking care of things, leading me toward the light, who is Jesus Christ. Run on sentence time. It happened because I made a decision at 8 years old in a steel mill town of the Midwest after listening to my pastor who was from a small rural town in Kentucky who once was a partying musician in a band who felt the call of God on his life who then went to seminary and became a great evangelist that brought the gospel to my young ears and understanding. The deal was sealed when I publicly said, “Yes.”
Over the years that followed I learned that all of my subsequent striving, failures and sin did not cancel that day of redemption and the state of being forgiven and accepted into the family of God forever. I truly had experienced being born again and could spend my life in service to others as my Lord desired. Jesus changed everything.
Conclusion
I offer special thanks for a couple of friends from those days. Mike and Phil – you will never know this side of heaven what inviting me into the Bethel Bible Series meant at a time when I was slowly drowning. Mike, your courage in abruptly leaving the society scene upon receiving the Lord’s call on your heart and then diving into helping others understand the Word served as an example as a man on fire for the Lord. Along with Phil, the Lord walked both of you into the lives of me and many others to teach and deliver the truth of Christian living.
Phil, you were there for me with an encouraging word, prayer and reading material when I was hurting and alone during the divorce. I will never forget and have tried to follow your lead with others through the years. I still have the paperback you gave me the month before I left; Winners and Losers by Sydney J. Harris. You gave your best wishes for success in my new career as well as for good health and happiness. You asked God to bless me. Then you wrote that the book was for me, your friend, “a winner”. Looking forward to seeing you again in Heaven, my winning friend.
To conclude, I dedicate this part of the story to the Normas, Jana, and Wifey. You were the rocks that never crumbled for your families and communities. You took care of the wounded, hurting and hungry without fanfare. Your children reflected the love and values of your families. You earned your crowns in Heaven.
There is one more special person to express love and appreciation from BIMD that I will discuss in the finale next time.
For some reason this version of the great classic reminds me so much of the music in the Mississippi River delta around Memphis. The talent on that stage – wow! Enjoy.
Which reminds me of the time we broke bread over breakfast with Gregg, Dickie and most of the Allman Brothers Band at the downtown Mariott in St. Louis the morning after a concert in St. Louis in the early 1980s. Hearing “Ramblin Man” on the car radio in August 1973 as I was driving home from working the graveyard shift at the steel mill hit my inner redneck self square in the heart. Having the occasion to actually meet and visit with them was a treat. It was a time when Gregg was clean, sober and rational; although I doubt Dickie ever was.
It was the same Mariott I had stayed in a couple of years before with a couple of utility company execs when we were called to testify in a fight the company had with the IBEW union before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) there. Did I tell you I knew some things about how the NLRB scratches the backs of union leaders and that it is all a scam?
Darn, there I go with another story or two. Nope, not gonna do it. See you next time with the BIMD Finale.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
My Shepherd
“The Lord is my shepherd” comes from one of the most beloved of all passages of Scripture, the 23rd Psalm. In this passage and throughout the New Testament we learn that the Lord is our Shepherd in two ways. First, as the Good Shepherd, He laid down His life for His sheep and, second, His sheep know His voice and follow Him (John 10:11, 14).
In Psalm 23, God is using the analogy of sheep and their nature to describe us. Sheep have a natural tendency to wander off and get lost. As believers, we tend to do the same thing. It’s as Isaiah has said: “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way” (Isaiah 53:6). When sheep go astray, they are in danger of getting lost, being attacked, even killing themselves by drowning or falling off cliffs.
Likewise, within our own nature there is a strong tendency to go astray (Romans 7:5; 8:8), following the lusts of our flesh and eyes and pursuing the pride of life (1 John 2:16). As such, we are like sheep wandering away from the Shepherd through our own futile self-remedies and attempts at self-righteousness. It’s our nature to drift away (Hebrews 2:1), to reject God, and to break His commandments. When we do this, we run the risk of getting lost, even forgetting the way back to God. Furthermore, when we turn away from the Lord, we soon find ourselves confronting one enemy after another who will attack us in numerous ways.
Sheep are basically helpless creatures who cannot survive long without a shepherd, upon whose care they are totally dependent. Likewise, like sheep, we are totally dependent upon the Lord to shepherd, protect, and care for us. Sheep are essentially dumb animals that do not learn well and are extremely difficult to train. They do not have good eyesight, nor do they hear well. They are very slow animals who cannot escape predators; they have no camouflage and no weapons for defense such as claws, sharp hooves, or powerful jaws.
Furthermore, sheep are easily frightened and become easily confused. In fact, they have been known to plunge blindly off a cliff following one after another. Shepherds in Bible times faced incredible dangers in caring for their sheep, putting their own lives at risk by battling wild animals such as wolves and lions who threatened the flock. David was just such a shepherd (1 Samuel 17:34–35). In order to be good shepherds, they had to be willing to lay down their lives for the sheep.
Jesus declared that He is our Shepherd and demonstrated it by giving His life for us. “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28). Through His willing sacrifice, the Lord made salvation possible for all who come to Him in faith (John 3:16). In proclaiming that He is the good shepherd, Jesus speaks of “laying down” His life for His sheep (John 10:15, 17–18).
Like sheep, we, too, need a shepherd. Men are spiritually blind and lost in their sin. This is why Jesus spoke of the parable of the lost sheep (Luke 15:4–6). He is the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for us. He searches for us when we’re lost, to save us and to show us the way to eternal life (Luke 19:10). We tend to be like sheep, consumed with worry and fear, following after one another. By not following or listening to the Shepherd’s voice (John 10:27), we can be easily led astray by others to our own destruction. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, warns those who do not believe and listen to Him: “I did tell you, but you do not believe . . . you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand” (John 10:25–28).
Psalm 23:1–3 tells us that the shepherd meets the sheep’s every need: food, water, rest, safety, and direction. When we as believers follow our Shepherd, we, too, know that we will have all we need. We will not lack the necessities of life, for He knows exactly what we need (Luke 12:22–30).
Sheep will not lie down when they are hungry, nor will they drink from fast-flowing streams. Sometimes the shepherd will temporarily dam up a stream so the sheep can quench their thirst. Psalm 23:2 speaks of leading the sheep “beside the quiet [stilled] waters.” The shepherd must lead his sheep because they cannot be driven. Instead, the sheep hear the voice of their shepherd and follow him—just as we listen to our Shepherd, Jesus Christ—in His Word and follow Him (John 10:3–5, 16, 27). And if a sheep does wander off, the shepherd will leave the flock in charge of his helpers and search for the lost animal (Matthew 9:36; 18:12–14; Luke 15:3–7).
In Psalm 23:3, the Hebrew word translated “paths” means “well-worn paths or ruts.” In other words, when sheep wander onto a new path, they start to explore it, which invariably leads them into trouble. This passage is closely akin to the warning in Hebrews 13:9: “Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.” The apostle Paul also alludes to this idea in Ephesians 4:14.
Finally, the shepherd cares for the sheep because he loves them and wants to maintain his own good reputation as a faithful shepherd. As we’ve seen in Psalm 23, the analogy of the Lord as the Good Shepherd was also applied by Jesus in John chapter 10. In declaring that He is the shepherd of the sheep, Jesus is confirming that He is God. The Eternal God is our Shepherd. And we would not want it any other way.
What is it that feeds our battle, yet starves our victory?
January 6 Tapes?
Paging Speaker Johnson…this is your conscience calling you out on broken promises.
For all your high talk about your Christian moral background…you’re looking less and less like you have any kind of moral background.
If You are a Patriot and Don’t Loathe RINOs…
Let’s talk about RINOs, and why they are the lowest form of life in politics.
Many patriots have been involved with politics, often at the grassroots, for decades. We’ve fought, and fought, and fought and won the occasional illusory small victory.
Yet we can’t seem to win the war, even when we have BIG electoral wins.
I am reminded of something. The original Star Trek had an episode titled Day of the Dove. It was one of the better episodes from the third season, but any fan of the original series will tell you that’s a very low bar. Still, it seems to get some respect; at a time when there were about 700 episodes of Star Trek in its various incarnations out there, it was voted 99th best out of the top 100.
In sum, the plot is that an alien entity has arranged for 39 Enterprise crew, and 39 Klingons, to fight each other endlessly with swords and other muscle-powered weapons. The entity lives off of hostile emotions, you see and it wants a captive food source. (The other 400 or so Enterprise crew are trapped below decks and unable to help.) Each side has its emotions played and amplified by the alien entity; one Enterprise junior officer has false memories implanted of a brother who was killed by Klingons. The brother didn’t even exist.
Even people killed in a sword fight miraculously heal so they can go do it again.
The second best line of the episode is when Kang, the Klingon captain, notes that though they have won quite a number of small victories including capturing Engineering, can’t seem to actually finally defeat the Enterprise crew. He growls, “What power is it that feeds our battle yet starves our victory?*”
Indeed. He may have been the bad guy, but his situation should sound familiar.
We are a majority in this country. We have a powerful political party in our corner. There is endless wrangling.
And yet,
What power is it that feeds our battle yet starves our victory?
In our case, that power is the RINOs in our midst. They specialize in caving when on the verge of victory. Think of Obamacare’s repeal failing…by one Republican vote. Think of the way we can never seem to get spending under control (and now our entire tax revenue goes to pay interest on the debt; anything the government actually does now is with borrowed money).
We have a party…that refuses to do what we want it to do, and that refusal is institutionalized. If you’ve been involved with GOP politics, but haven’t seen this, it’s because you refuse to see it. Or because you are part of the problem yourself. (If so, kindly gargle some red fuming nitric acid to clear the taste of shit out of your mouth, and let those not part of the problem alone so they can read this.)
We fight to elect people, who then take a dive when in office. But it’s not just the politicians in office, it’s the people behind the scenes, the leaders of the national, state and county branches of the party. Their job is to ensure that real patriots never get onto the general election ballot. They’re allowed a few failures…who can then become token conservatives who will somehow never manage to win (Jordan), or can be compromised outright (Loren Boebert).
That way it doesn’t actually matter who has a congressional majority. I remember my excitement when the GOP took the Senate in 1980. But all that did was empower a bunch of “moderate” puddles of dog vomit like…well for whatever reason forty years later the most memorable name is Pete Domenici. And a couple of dozen other “moderates” who simply had no interest in doing what grassroots people in their party–those same grassroots people who had worked so hard to elect them–wanted them to do.
Oh, they’ll put up a semblance of a fight…but never win. And they love it when we fight the Dems instead of fighting them. Just like that alien entity, whose motto surely was “Let’s you and him fight. It’ll be delicious!”
If you think about it, your entire political involvement has come to nothing because of these walking malignant tumors.
That should make you good and mad.
The twenty five who blocked Jordan, and the hundred people who took that opportunity to stab Jordan in the back in the secret ballot should make you good and mad.
I’ll close this with another example of RINO backstabbing, an infuriating one close to home.
In my county, the GOP chair is not a RINO. She got elected when the grassroots had had enough of the RINOs. Unfortunately the state organization is full of RINOs, and the ousted county RINOs have been trying to form a new “Republican Party” and get the state GOP to recognize them as the affiliate. I’m honestly amazed it hasn’t happened yet.
In other words those shitstains won’t just leave when they get booted out; they’ll try to destroy what they left behind. It’s an indication that they know we know how important that behind-the-scenes party power is.
So they must be destroyed. That’s the only way they’ll ever stop.
We cannot win until the leeches “on our side” get destroyed.
What power is it that feeds our battle yet starves our victory?*
We know it. What is going to be done about it?
*NOTE: The original line was actually “What power is it that supports our battle yet starves our victory.” I had mis-remembered it as feeds. When I checked it, it sure enough was “supports” and that’s what I originally quoted. On further reflection, though, I realized my memory was actually an improvement over the reality, because feeds is a perfect contrast with starves. I changed it partway through the day this originally posted, but now (since this is a re-run) it gets rendered this way from the start.
If one must do things wrong, one should do them wrong…right.
RINOs an Endangered Species? If Only!
According to Wikipoo, et. al., the Northern White Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum cottoni) is a critically endangered species. Apparently two females live on a wildlife preserve in Sudan, and no males are known to be alive. So basically, this species is dead as soon as the females die of old age. Presently they are watched over by armed guards 24/7.
Biologists have been trying to cross them with the other subspecies, Southern White Rhinoceroses (Rhinoceri?) without success; and some genetic analyses suggest that perhaps they aren’t two subspecies at all, but two distinct species, which would make the whole project a lot more difficult.
I should hope if the American RINO (Parasitus rectum pseudoconservativum) is ever this endangered, there will be heroic efforts not to save the species, but rather to push the remainder off a cliff. Onto punji sticks. With feces smeared on them. Failing that a good bath in red fuming nitric acid will do.
But I’m not done ranting about RINOs.
The RINOs (if they are capable of any introspection whatsoever) probably wonder why they constantly have to deal with “populist” eruptions like the Trump-led MAGA movement. That would be because the so-called populists stand for absolutely nothing except for going along to get along. That allows the Left to drive the culture and politics.
Given the results of our most recent elections, the Left will now push harder, and the RINOs will now turn even squishier than they were before.
I well remember 1989-1990 in my state when the RINO establishment started preaching the message that a conservative simply couldn’t win in Colorado. Never mind the fact that Reagan had won the state TWICE (in 1984 bringing in a veto-proof state house and senate with him) and GHWB had won after (falsely!) assuring everyone that a vote for him was a vote for Reagan’s third term.
This is how the RINOs function. They push, push, push the line that only a “moderate” can get elected. Stomp them when they pull that shit. Tell everyone in ear shot that that’s exactly what the Left wants you to think, and oh-by-the-way-Mister-RINO if you’re in this party selling the same message as the Left…well, whythefuckexactly are you in this party, you lying piece of rancid weasel shit?
In Defense of Ranked Choice Voting
One of the biggest obstacles to direly-needed change is RINOs, and one of the weapons in their arsenal is the “Wasted Vote” argument.
Periodically a third party has arisen, trying to hold RINOs to account by putting pressure on them from outside of the party, since doing so from the inside has historically done very little good. But, even if you find a third party candidate who perfectly reflects your views, you’re likely to vote for the RINO anyway. Why? Because if you don’t, the Democrat might win, and that would be even worse. So if you vote for that third party (that few will vote for), you’re throwing your vote away and increasing the likelihood of the Democrat winning. (It’s half as much a gain for the Democrat, as actually voting for the Democrat would be. Not as much, but half as much. Because although you denied the R your vote, you did not flip your vote to the Democrat.)
The Republican Party Establishment knows you don’t love them. But they know you hate the Democrats worse, and they use that to continue to herd you into supporting them. With gritted teeth you cast your vote, but your vote counts the same whether you cast it enthusiastically. And the other alternative, pissing on the voting apparatus to express your actual feelings, is probably a felony.
But what if you could vote for that third party without increasing the chances of the Dem walking away with the prize?
This is what ranked choice voting, or instant runoff voting, can do provided it is properly implemented. (And this includes the votes, and only genuine votes, being counted honestly, of course. However, I’m going to compare it to what we have today, and pretend that is honestly done too. RCV can’t work if it’s not honestly administered, just like our current system isn’t working because it isn’t honestly administered.)
The idea behind RCV is to vote by expressing your order of preference. You could vote for the Patriot Party, then for the RINO Party as your second choice (and ignore the Democrat, the Green, the Overt Socialist Schmuckmonkey Party, etc).
What does this do? It nullifies the wasted vote argument. Your vote will be counted for the Patriot party, first, then instead of it being “wasted” when the Patriot Party loses, it ends up going to the RINO. Actually, it’s just barely possible that the Patriot Party would actually beat the RINO, if people weren’t all individually afraid to vote for it.
It’s just like the famous “Prisoner’s Dilemma” where your fear of other peoples’ actions prevents you from doing the optimal thing–and vice-versa. As long as Job Lowe is afraid to vote Patriot because he’s afraid you’ll vote RINO, you’ll have to vote RINO because you fear that Job Lowe will, because he fears you will.
So on the whole I like RCV. It gives you a no-risk way to vote against the RINO scum, and in favor of someone who deserves your vote.
The problem is, as done here in the US, it comes packaged with a “jungle primary.” A bunch of candidates get to put their name out there, and the top four (or so) candidates get onto the “main” ballot. This gives party establishments their way around the threat of a good third party bumping them off. Because they know that few people bother with primaries, and third parties don’t have the resources to run in a primary…so they throw two or three establishment hacks into the primary and they will probably beat the third party. The result is the RINOs end up with two of the four slots in the general election, and the Dems get the other two. Now there’s suddenly no third party candidate on the ballot at all.
If we were to combine RCV with the present system where each party could nominate exactly one candidate to appear on the November ballot, or at the very least, ensure minor parties could get onto the ballot with at least one candidate regardless of the primary, we would be getting somewhere, but the establishment is smarter than we like to give them credit for. They will support the jungle primary + RCV “solution” rather than the more appropriate one-candidate-per-party + RCV solution.
It’s not RCV that is the problem, it’s the primary structure grafted onto it.
Justice
It says “Justice” on the picture.
And I’m sure someone will post the standard joke about what the fish thinks about the situation.
But what is it?
Here’s a take, from a different context: It’s about how you do justice, not the justice that must be done to our massively corrupt government and media. You must properly identify the nature of a person, before you can do him justice.
Ayn Rand, On Justice (speaking through her character John Galt, in Atlas Shrugged):
Justice is the recognition of the fact that you cannot fake the character of men as you cannot fake the character of nature, that you must judge all men as conscientiously as you judge inanimate objects, with the same respect for truth, with the same incorruptible vision, by as pure and as rational a process of identification—that every man must be judged for what he is and treated accordingly, that just as you do not pay a higher price for a rusty chunk of scrap than for a piece of shining metal, so you do not value a rotter above a hero—that your moral appraisal is the coin paying men for their virtues or vices, and this payment demands of you as scrupulous an honor as you bring to financial transactions—that to withhold your contempt from men’s vices is an act of moral counterfeiting, and to withhold your admiration from their virtues is an act of moral embezzlement—that to place any other concern higher than justice is to devaluate your moral currency and defraud the good in favor of the evil, since only the good can lose by a default of justice and only the evil can profit—and that the bottom of the pit at the end of that road, the act of moral bankruptcy, is to punish men for their virtues and reward them for their vices, that that is the collapse to full depravity, the Black Mass of the worship of death, the dedication of your consciousness to the destruction of existence.
Ayn Rand identified seven virtues, chief among them rationality. The other six, including justice, she considered subsidiary because they are essentially different aspects and applications of rationality.
I’m sure enough of this that I put my money where my mouth is.
The prior election must be acknowledged as fraudulent, and steps must be taken to prosecute the fraudsters and restore integrity to the system. (This doesn’t necessarily include deposing Joe and Hoe and putting Trump where he belongs, but it would certainly be a lot easier to fix our broken electoral system with the right people in charge.)
Nothing else matters at this point. Talking about trying again in 2024 or 2026 is pointless otherwise. Which is not to say one must never talk about this, but rather that one must account for this in ones planning; if fixing the fraud in the system is not part of the plan, you have no plan.
This will necessarily be piecemeal, state by state, which is why I am encouraged by those states working to change their laws to alleviate the fraud both via computer and via bogus voters. If enough states do that we might end up with a working majority in Congress and that would be something Trump never really had.

Even platinum managed to quit falling off the floor.
It should be noted that silver, platinum and palladium were down Friday, from Thursday’s close.
Venus
Or much more seriously, and much more grimly…the planet that should be named Hell.
Actually, I’m going to get one bit of semi-related trivia out of the way.
Planets and Metals
The Ancients recognized seven planets: The Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. (And yes, two of those are no longer regarded as planets. Back then the definition was basically anything that moved in a regular pattern against the celestial sphere. This excluded comets and shooting stars, and of course the (as far as they could tell) “fixed stars,” but not much else.)
There were also seven recognized metals: Iron, tin, lead, gold, silver, mercury and copper.
The seven metals were commonly associated with the seven planets, to the point in fact where the planetary symbols were often used for the metals. Mercury was of course associated with mercury. The Moon was associated with silver.
And Venus was associated with copper.
Oddly enough, the association of planets to metals continued into the modern era. Uranium, discovered in 1789 (well sort of), was named after Uranus. When neptunium was synthesized, it was known to be uranium’s neighbor to the right, and so it was named after Uranus’s neighbor in the solar system, Neptune. And continuing the trend, plutonium, the element after neptunium, after Pluto, then regarded as the planet after Neptune. Of course Pluto got demoted.
But that isn’t actually the first time that a metallic element got named after a planet…which then got demoted! Consider the case of Ceres (discovered 1801) and cerium.
OK now Venus. Really.
Venus is very easy to spot. If it’s above the horizon at night but you are wearing three paper bags over your head, have your eyes shut, and are facing the wrong way, you might miss it.
It’s the brightest object in the night sky, except for the Moon.
Because Venus is one of those objects that orbits the Sun, but is closer to the Sun than we are, it will always be relatively close to the Sun on the celestial sphere, however its maximum distance is roughly 60 degrees, which is far enough away that it will hang around for as long as four hours after sunset, depending on a bunch of other factors (like the time of year and your latitude). Or, conversely, it could rise four hours before sunrise.
This dual nature at first confused the ancients, but they quickly realized that that super bright “morning star” and the super-bright “evening star” were the same thing. The Sumerians, one of the earliest civilizations of Mesopotamia (and perhaps the oldest anywhere), had figured it out. The Greeks didn’t start out with that memo, though, and initially named the morning star Phosphorus and the evening star Hesperus. Pythagoras, 6th century BCE, was credited with (re-)figuring it out.
Mercury and Venus’s habit of sticking close to the Sun ought to have been a clue that perhaps the Sun was at the center of things, rather than the Earth, but as far as I can tell, few took that seriously before Copernicus (published and died, 1543). And even Copernicus wasn’t believed.
Galileo in 1610 looked at Venus with a telescope and over time saw an almost full set of phases. He didn’t see a full Venus, nor a new Venus, but he saw almost everything else, and as you can see in the diagrams below, that shows that Venus must orbit the Sun, not move back and forth between us and the Sun.
Above: Venus orbiting the sun, displaying crescent and gibbous phases. Below, hypothetical Venus on an epicycle, whose center in turn orbits the Earth. It only ever shows crescent phases. (If the epicycle were beyond the sun, we’d see nothing but gibbous and even full phases.)
It’s also significant that the crescent Venus is much, much larger than the gibbous Venus. This size change counteracts the fact that normally a crescent should be less bright than a gibbous phase, because less of the disk we see is lit.
Nor was that the end…not by any means!!!…of the contributions to astronomy that looking at Venus with earthbound telescopes would make!
And this is in spite of the fact that Venus shows us no surface detail. Imagine a brightly-lit ping pong ball. That’s Venus. Blast white, no markings. We couldn’t tell how fast it was rotating. Or even if it was rotating. We did know that it’s a sphere, because of the phases. But that’s it.
As for the Solar System as a whole, Kepler had by 1611 demonstrated that the planets move around the Sun in elliptical orbits, with the Sun at one focus, and that their rates of travel were such that a line connecting the planet and the Sun would sweep out equal areas in equal times (meaning the planet moved faster both in angle seen from the Sun and in absolute terms, when it was closer to the Sun).
He was able to establish relative sizes of the orbits. Setting the Earth’s orbit’s size to 1 unit, Venus’s orbit was roughly 0.72 units in size. (Measuring half the long axis of the ellipse, also called the semi-major axis.) This “unit” of Kepler’s survives as our present-day “Astronomical Unit” (AU).
He didn’t know how big an astronomical unit was. No one knew. The only thing we did know was that it was at least two million miles, because attempts to measure the distance to the Sun by triangulation had been made, and failed. We’d have got a good reading with these methods if the Sun were less than two million miles away. (Similar methods had worked with the Moon.) It didn’t help that it’s hard to triangulate against background stars when you cannot see them because it’s daytime!
But what if we could watch Venus cross the face of the Sun?
You know, like this:
(Venus is three to four times closer to us than is the Sun when it is between us and the Sun, yet still looks puny by comparison. That should tell you something about the Sun.)
Imagine watching one of these “transits” from one place on Earth and noting where against the Sun’s disk Venus was. Meanwhile someone else thousands of miles away does the same thing and takes his notes. Since Venus is closer than the Sun, it should appear in two different places; if you know how far apart your observers are, you can triangulate.
Better yet, time how long it takes to cross. That will nail down, far more accurately, the length of Venus’s path across the Sun, and you can compare the two times, lay down two lines of corresponding length, and really get a good read on the difference in Venus’s apparent position on the sun.
This was first attempted in 1639, by astronomers in Yorkshire and Manchester. They weren’t very far apart, and they got an answer indicating an astronomical unit was about 60 million miles. That was ten times larger than most people had…well, basically, guessed.
This was done again in 1761, with people observing from Russia, Newfoundland, and the Cape of Good Hope. Much better circumstances and equipment! And again in 1769, with people in St. Petersburg, Baja California, and Norway. Combined, the answer was 153 million km, give or take 1 million km. That’s about 2% off the current value (which we know down to a hundred meters). Not bad!
The 1761 cooperation is particularly striking because Europe was still in the throes of the Seven Years War, and Russia and England were on opposite sides. In some ways it’s better to think of that war as World War Zero. Our “French and Indian War” was basically a side-theater of that mess…though it was also the start of that mess. (An excellent argument can be made that Colonel George Washington started the whole thing. Fortunately he became more astute by 1775.)
OK, so why did they sit around twiddling their thumbs between 1639 and 1761?
Because Venus transits are rare. They occur in pairs eight years apart…but those pairs, in turn, are over a hundred years apart!
How does that make sense?
Venus “laps” Earth almost exactly every 1.6 Earth years, crossing between us and the Sun. Well almost crossing. The two orbits are not in the same plane; they are in two different planes. The two planes intersect on a certain line, but if Venus laps us anywhere else other than that line through the Sun (either side of the line), Venus will appear to pass north or south of the Sun.
In the diagram above, the red line represents the line that is the intersection of the two orbital planes. Only if the Earth, Sun and Venus are all lined up on that line (on either side of the Sun) will we see a transit. (There’s a tiny bit of tolerance here because the Sun has width..you can be a little bit off that line, but not much.)
So imagine there is a Venus transit. Wait 1.6 years, and Venus laps us…but we’re 6/10ths of the way around the sun at that point, and the lapping does not happen where the planes intersect. Clean miss. Then again at 3.2 years, 4.8 years, 6.4 years…all misses. Only something-point-zero and something-point-five will work. But the next lapping is at 8.0 years. Bingo, another transit. So that explains the 8 year pairings. But why isn’t it every eight years? Because the lappings aren’t exactly every 1.6 years. They’re just a little bit off. Eight years after the second transit in the example, the lapping will happen, but slightly earlier and not quite close enough to the line of intersection to be a transit. And so we wait. And wait. And wait. Eventually things line up on the other side of the Sun and we get two more transits.
So, we had a transit in 2004 on June 8. And another in 2012 on June 5. Note just three days shy of exactly eight years later. The next lapping would have been 2020 on about June 2, and that’s far enough from the place where the planes intersect to ensure Venus does not cross in front of the Sun’s disk as seen from Earth.
The next transit is…wait for it…in 2117, on the 10th of December. Earth and Venus will be on the other side of the Sun when this happens, going through the other half of the line of intersection of their two orbital planes.
I observed the 2012 transit with eclipse glasses and took pictures with the same craptastic solar filter I used for the annular eclipse last year. I do remember that triangle of sunspots from the picture I pasted in. See below. The sunspots are quite faint. and the orientation is a bit different.
I Lied. Now, really about Venus.
I’ve talked about Venus’s orbit already, but I spotted this cool animation and you can watch the four terrestrial planets orbit the Sun in it. Note that there are faint circles every 0.5 AU you can compare the elliptical orbits with, the circles look elliptical because the diagram is at an oblique angle.
Venus orbits the Sun every 224.7 Earth days. And at present it’s the closest orbit to circular of any of the planets. That period works out to Venus orbiting almost exactly 13 times while Earth orbits 8 times. (That’s logical, it laps us 5 times in eight years, so it has orbited 8+5=13 times while we’ve poked along.)
Here’s a true color picture of Venus taken by the MESSENGER probe as it flew by, using Venus for a gravity assist (“slingshot”).
There’s only the slightest hint of banding, like clouds overlying clouds.
In ultraviolet light, though, you can see more:
Venus is a completely cloud-bound world. It’s almost as big as Earth, and seems like it could almost be a twin.
There was a belief clear up into the 1950s that Venus was a younger world than Earth (and Mars was older), so it was expected that under all those clouds Venus could be a swampy world with primitive life. It’d no doubt be warmer, but with the cloud layer blocking the Sun, maybe not much warmer than Earth. Maybe we could even live there!
Oh boy did that ever turn out wrong. We (well the USSR actually) sent our first probe, Venera 1, in 1961. And there have been many others since.
The surface temperature of Venus is 737K or about 867 F.
Lead melts at 621 F. I guess we would need something else for bullets there.
The atmosphere turns out to be almost pure carbon dioxide, with a pressure 92 times as great as our atmosphere at sea level.
And the upper layers of it are sulfuric acid.
So we have a baked, dessicated world with sulfuric acid…not a bad match for Hell.
We’ve managed to land spacecraft and have them survive for minutes to a couple of hours. (The USSR had better luck there, we did better with Mars.) Here’s one of the pictures, from Venera 9.
And another from Venera 14:
In fact here: https://www.planetary.org/articles/every-picture-from-venus-surface-ever is a compilation of every image ever taken from the surface. Only four spacecraft have managed it, all of them Russian or Soviet.
Nevertheless we do know quite a bit about Venus’s surface, because we’ve mapped it with radar from orbiting satellites, including Magellan in the early 90s. We’ve got topographic maps.
It turns out there are a lot of volcanoes on Venus (more hellishness). There are continents–sizable plateaus just like our continents are, but without oceans overfilling the low spots. There’s no chance of plate tectonics because no water is around as a lubricant for the plates. Nevertheless, it appears as though the entire surface gets catastrophically replaced every few hundred million years.
So here is the topographic map.
One last thing about Venus that stands out, and that is its rotation. It rotates once every 243 days…that’s longer than its year. So it seems as if Venus might almost be tidally locked, except that in fact it’s not even close. It rotates backward. (And that is a big WTF!)
The net effect is, someone standing on the surface of Venus would see the sun rise in the west, and set in the east, with the day lasting 116.75 earth days. Except you would never see sunrise or sunset with that thick layer of clouds.
Venus serves as a poster child for “runaway greenhouse effect” on account of the carbon dioxide, the heat, and the lack of water. It is believed it warmed up just a bit too much a few billion years ago, thanks largely to the early atmosphere being largely carbon dioxide (that was true here too; we needed life to make oxygen from the carbon dioxide); the oceans evaporated and the water molecules escaped. (Water vapor escapes Earth, too, but very very slowly. We’re more massive and cooler than Venus.) More carbon dioxide was released from the rocks which just made things worse. So it’s a favorite of the Global Warming crowd.
Admittedly, if we were that close the Sun we’d be hosed too. But we’re not. And they’ve fudged their data as to what is actually happening.

28And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the first of all?” 29Jesus answered, “The first is, `Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one; 30and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31The second is this, `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that he is one, and there is no other but he; 33and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any question.

Well here is a bit of VERY BAD NEWS that showed up on the daily thread.
YOU ADDED WHAT TO MY CHEESE???
First I want to give a MAJOR H/T to Dr. Mercola, Ashley Armstrongof Robert Kennedy Jr’s Children’s Health Defense Organization and to The Burning Platform for bringing this to our attention. Dr Mercola has drawn attacks from the Cabal early on especially during the beginnings of Covid as has the Children’s Health Defense Organization.
Guest Post by Ashley Armstrong Rennet is used as a clotting agent to curdle the milk into cheese, separating the liquid parts of milk from the solids. Pfizer makes a genetically modified rennet, but because of a labeling loophole, cheese containing Pfizer’s rennet does not have to be labeled as containing a genetically modified organism.
Story at a glance:
Traditionally, cheese was made with just four ingredients: milk, salt, starter culture and animal rennet.
Rennet is used as a clotting agent to curdle the milk into cheese, separating the liquid parts of milk from the solids. It’s an essential part of the cheese-making process.
Today, there are four types of rennet used in the cheese-making industry: animal rennet, vegetable rennet, microbial rennet and a genetically modified version called FPC (fermentation-produced chymosin), made by Pfizer.
Bioengineered FPC was granted Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) status, which exempted Pfizer from the pre-approved requirements that apply to other new food additives. This is even though studies have detailed concerns about safety.
An estimated 90% of North American cheese is made with FPC rennet, and ingredient labels do not distinguish between bioengineered rennet and the original animal-based type so consumers have no way of knowing what they’re eating.
…Safety concerns of GM enzymes
Well, again, this technology is new. So there are no long-term studies evaluating the safety of eating a small amount of this genetically modified food additive every single day. But there are two main concerns: 1) toxicity and 2) digestive issues since these rennet alternatives can serve as an allergen.
Toxicity concerns
Toxicity means that the enzyme solution contains biotoxins from the genetically modified host (mold or fungus) that is being cultured and fermented in the lab. The producers of these enzymes claim the final FPC enzyme solution is highly purified, but some people react as though they still contain some of the allergens from the host microorganisms themselves.
In fact, traces of the genetically engineered bacteria have been found in enzymes. A few quotes from the literature regarding these toxicity concerns. I don’t know about you, but I have no desire to consume biotoxins from genetically modified organisms! “Genetically modified food enzymes are currently produced from GMOs. Safety concerns have been raised regarding potential contamination of food with bacterial toxins or mycotoxins, allergens, or uncharacterized extraneous substances as impurities. “Because these enzymes are purified from microbial sources, toxic substances might be present in enzyme preparations/isolates. The toxic substances are basically bacterial toxins and mycotoxins, which might cause problems/risks related to the health of consumers.
“Safety legislation is also very much attentive regarding the allergenic properties of manufactured enzymes, as it is well known that enzymes are potent inhalative sensitizers. “Apart from that, numerous uncharacterized extraneous substances/ impurities of microbial/biological origin may also be present in the enzyme preparation, which is also a matter of prime concern while evaluating the safety of commercial enzyme products.
“While food enzyme preparations are considered unlikely to cause any acute toxicity, genotoxicity, or repeat-dose oral toxicity, it is the fermentation product(s) of microorganisms from the manufacturing process that is/are of interest due to the potential presence of secondary metabolites that may induce toxicity when ingested (eg. aflatoxins, fumonisins and/or ochratoxins).”
So, some are concerned about continuous ingestion of these biotoxins over time, and the negative health consequences those would have over the course of years. And unfortunately, there isn’t much regulation here. “Currently, the companies themselves are responsible for the quality control of their products.” Gee, that’s not helpful!
Allergens and digestive issues
So as a result of a small amount of these toxins potentially showing up in the final cheese product (and slight structural changes in the final proteins), the cheese can now serve as an allergen and can cause an allergic reaction, or digestive and respiratory issues.
Stomach upset or discomfort.
Runny nose, increase in mucus production.
Consumers then may think they can’t digest cheese — but hey, maybe it is just the cheese that was made! It may not be the dairy itself, but the microorganism residues that elicit an allergic response, or irritate the gut lining.
I do not digest cheese that is made with this FPC (which again can be “vegetable rennet” or “microbial rennet” on labels). I get stomach upset and a disruption of my normal bowel movements. So something isn’t going right there! I can only digest cheese made with animal rennet, so I am very picky with what cheese I consume day to day! GMO cheese may compromise your gut health One of the biggest issues here is the potential disruption of the gut microbiome. “Lastly, the case study highlights the issues related to the dissemination of [antimicrobial resistance] genes due to their potential acquisition by the human commensal flora, via direct food consumption and by environmental bacteria through contact with soil and water surfaces or food waste. This is especially the case as a living GMM [genetically modified micro-organism] was found in a FE [enzyme] preparation.” In addition, allergic responses from ingesting the biotoxin residues or modified protein structures.
“A known safety risk linked to industrial enzyme use is respiratory allergy and for most proteases, there is also some potential for skin and eye irritation … Enzymes present a risk of a respiratory allergy (e.g. Aspergillus-derived enzymesin bakers’ asthma) and it is well described in the scientific literature …
“Genetic modification of enzymes may also change their allergenic properties, posing new potential health risks. For instance, type I sensitization was found in a study of 813 exposed industrial workers using genetically modified enzymes.”
So, it is documented in the literature, I experience it personally, and have heard from multiple other people — some people have digestive issues digesting the microbial and vegetable rennets.
But do just fine with cheese made traditionally with animal rennet. There are consequences when we try to outsmart nature! Originally published by Mercola.com
