“Slainte Mhath” is a Scottish toast meaning “Good Health”. This song is from Marillion’s last album with their previous lead singer/vocalist, Fish. That album, Clutching at Straws, is full of fatalism and harbingers of the end.
This performance, with Steve Hogarth on vocals, starts out with “A hand held over a candle in angst-fueled bravado.” When I saw Marillion with Fish in their North American tour, he actually sang that line (and the next) with his hand over a candle he swiped off a table.
Both Fish and Marillion with H have prospered after their break. It’s a nice move for H to toast Fish here in one of Fish’s songs.

I’ve seen many examples of leftists posting their disappointment that Pres. Trump is still alive. I’m not going to repost them, and I’m not going to say the vile things they say. They are teachers, health professionals, and others. A country can’t survive if a very many of its people’s hearts are sick enough to not only think such things but also to unabashedly post them online as if it were normal to have such thoughts. It is mainstream among a subset of the population. I’m not sure what can be done except to hold those accountable who break the law.

The only thing that seems unusual about it is that they are uncontrollably telling on themselves, and using social media to do it.
It seems our natural instinct is to be morally outraged over their wanting something bad to happen to a good man, but I don’t know how that helps us. I don’t see how it’s useful. It doesn’t move the needle even one degree.
Their conviction about wanting to see evil crushed doesn’t bother me at all. If anything, I wish more Conservatives were a lot more like that. I don’t understand why more of them aren’t.
I can relate to their anger a lot more than I can relate to the comparative apathy by many on the right.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to see evil suffer.
That’s justice.
That’s what corporal punishment used to be. That’s what prison is. That’s what the lake of fire is going to be.
Where these nutcases go wrong, is not that they want evil to suffer — it’s who and what they call evil.
Because they have exchanged evil for good.

It seems that a big part of the exchange of good for evil happened through the Left’s embrace of the sin of homosexual conduct. The moment that effectively became a requirement for belonging in their tribe, they set themselves in diametric opposition to God.
Why does that matter?
Follow it to its logical conclusion. It means they can no longer base their worldview on Godly principles, because they cannot pick and choose which parts of God’s Word to believe while ignoring others, not without being exposed as hypocrites. It’s both politically and morally untenable.
Which eventually leads to abandonment of Godly principles altogether, on any subject. Even eventually including murder and p3dophelia.
Worse, from their perspective, God becomes their enemy. They take it out on people who believe in God, but it is God who they really have a problem with. So one by one, on every issue, they end up on the opposite side of God, because that’s the only place they can be, if they are not on the side of God.
There’s no neutral ground they can occupy, once they have rejected God’s judgment on some particular thing. And once that opposition to God’s judgment is solidified in their worldview, once they have declared God wrong and themselves right on some matter of consequence, how can that not eventually manifest in every other thing they believe?
How can they take God’s side on anything?
How can they even believe in God, and live in opposition to Him?
And when they stop believing in God, how much easier is it to serve their own bellies, in whatever they desire or lust for?
That doesn’t mean they’ve thought it through this way, I suspect most of them haven’t — but it is a natural progression, or logical consequence.
And the longer they do this, the easier it gets, and the evil grows ever greater, like a snowball rolling downhill.
I would take this further back. I would say that the obsession with and objectification of sex, period, is where this all began.
When mass media started to publish somewhat explicit photos of women in the 1950s (Playboy), and then horrifyingly explicit photos in Penthouse in 1965, that was the beginning of the downhill slide.
God didn’t give humanity sex for pleasure. He made sex pleasurable so that “go forth and multiply” wasn’t some grim chore. But it’s not supposed to be a free-for-all, it’s supposed to be confined to marriage between a man and a woman.
Once society opened us up to the pagan practices of the old gods, where sex was practiced right out in the open (like a pride parade today!) in orgies dedicated to those gods, the death spiral started. If you can freely look at magazines full of naked chicks, bang some random woman without consequence, and there’s no societal condemnation, well from there any sexual deviance is just around the block.
And here we are, at the corner of Sodom and Gomorrah.

It’s the influence they have that matters, and that is huge.
The random videos people post of getting verbally attacked because they are wearing MAGA gear do not come about because their attackers are paid (the woman berating the guy on a plane, encounters in restaurants, etc.). The people posting death wishes online are not random unemployed individuals; they can be traced to the jobs they hold. If some have been paid, they are still risking losing their jobs and in some cases their professional licenses. (I don’t think those people are paid.)
There are *a lot* of true believers, many of whom are blind and brainwashed. They believe the ends justify the means, which leads to lying, cheating, stealing, and killing. They will stop at nothing to win elections, and we have never seen this level of aggression, both verbal and physical, on one president before.
Way too many people continue to follow conservative influencers who have turned on Pres. Trump and who promote lies and destructive ideas. We can’t even get them to take a stand and call a spade a spade.
Statistics are good, but the rising level of evil in some people’s hearts is obvious. And Congress is doing nothing to fix election fraud to keep them from power.
I’m not being a downer; I do have hope because I also see a great deal of true patriotic influence. IMO a lot of conservatives’ willingness to speak up is due to Pres. Trump’s leadership. My grandma’s name 🙂 She & my grandpa combined their partial names “El Viva” (meaning “the life”) & scratched it into the concrete pad where an old stone fireplace stood at the family Cottage in Northern Michigan. Life is still brimming too!
Vivian is a very special name to me. She was my mom’s youngest sister and had some type of heart problem before they did heart surgeries. She passed when I was a baby. My mom loved her and helped her learn to read and write again after she had a stroke. I had a booklet that mom made with pictures cut from magazines and the word spelled out below them. Apple, and so on, I think Vivian passed away when she was in her early teens. My mom always had a special compassion and love for those born with challenges. You can see it in this photo my older brother shared with me recently.
Another benefit of moving closer to family. 
Oh yes, I had never seen this photo. Now, when Ron passes photos to me, I can scan them and share with our extended family.

It’s how we get situations like this, where the President of the United States is in a room in a huge hotel full of people no one knows, no one has searched, and no one has vetted. Because in America, we innocently assume that most everybody has good intentions.

He was very sweet & seemed to enjoy no job, no taxes, & no utilities. I could imagine him in his younger years riding the rails like those old-time hobos.

I went to the counter to check out. The clerk was a really lovely young woman. When she spoke to me, it was with the man’s voice!

The apostle’s revelations. (1-6) Which were improved to his spiritual advantage. (7-10) The signs of an apostle were in him, His purpose of making them a visit; but he expresses his fear lest he should have to be severe with some. (11-21)
7-10 The apostle gives an account of the method God took to keep him humble, and to prevent his being lifted up above measure, on account of the visions and revelations he had. We are not told what this thorn in the flesh was, whether some great trouble, or some great temptation. But God often brings this good out of evil, that the reproaches of our enemies help to hide pride from us. If God loves us, he will keep us from being exalted above measure; and spiritual burdens are ordered to cure spiritual pride. This thorn in the flesh is said to be a messenger of Satan which he sent for evil; but God designed it, and overruled it for good. Prayer is a salve for every sore, a remedy for every malady; and when we are afflicted with thorns in the flesh, we should give ourselves to prayer. If an answer be not given to the first prayer, nor to the second, we are to continue praying. Troubles are sent to teach us to pray; and are continued, to teach us to continue instant in prayer. My hubby has been struggling with my dad’s decline, after a long life in significant service to the Lord. Michael has wrestled with God’s allowing such a man to have these troubles as his life is nearing its presumed end. He basically was asking God “why?”. He believes that God revealed to him that these sufferings & needs my dad is experiencing are more to teach the rest of us how to be better servants, to pour ourselves out in ministry to him. This came to mind when reading the expounding on the thorn in the flesh scenario that is such a mystery.
