HHS is Still Funding Gain-of-Function Experiments on the Avian Influenza Virus
The paper cited in the Fleetwood article is here: https://doi.org/10.1126/science.adr6632, “Polymerase trapping as the mechanism of H5 highly pathogenic avian influenza virus genes”; Mathis Funk, et al.; 12 March 2026. This paper was Received on 11 July 2024; Resubmitted on 17 July 2025; Accepted on 21 November 2025; and, Published in print on 12 March 2026. This paper was funded, in part, by NIH / NIAID grants: HHSN2722014-00008C; 75N93201C00014; and, 1R01AI177487. These grants were awarded to Ron A.M. Fouchier and to Mathilde Richard. Dr. Richard and Dr. Fouchier work at Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. This raises important questions: One: Why was / is NIH-NIAID funding research performed at a university outside of the United States?; and, Two: Why was / is NIH-NIAID continuing to fund research into making the H5 Avian Influenza virus more dangerous and deadly? Please see the screenshots, below, from the AAAS website (https://www.science.org/, American Association for the Advancement of Science) for this paper:
Then, after Gain-of-Function experiments are performed by Funk, et al., with the furin cleavage site of the H5 Avian Influenza virus, they apparently concluded that this virus can become more pathological. Please see the screenshot, below, from the AAAS website for this paper:
The NIH-NIAID grants for this paper were also solicited by Mathis Funk, the lead author of the paper, who was associated with Erasmus University. Mr. Funk passed away on 28 November 2024, at the age of 34. The paper mentions his passing with the statement that he “left the world too soon.”
Yours Truly did some more digging on the NIH-NIAID 1R01AI177487 grant listed above. In addition to the original grant, Dr. Mathilde Richard was also awarded a “sub-grant”, 1R01AI177487-01, on 1 August 2023, with a “Project end date” of 31 July 2028. Please see: https://reporter.nih.gov/search/qKxmt58hnkKa7rYIA1rSKg/projects. The NIH-NIAID employee who is the “Contact” for this grant is Brooke Allison Bozick, PhD. She is listed as “Program officer, Influenza and Rhinovirus Pathogen Biology and Clinical Research” at https://www.niaid.nih.gov/about/respiratory-disease-branch-contacts. Ms. Bozick has been an employee of HHS (NIH – NIAID) since at least 2019, including work involving CEIRR (Centers of Excellence for Influenza Research and Response [NIAID].) This raises the question: Why is NIH – NIAID funding the Gain-of-Function work of Dr. Richard all the way up to 31 July 2028?
Yours Truly did some more digging on the HHSSN27220140008C grant listed above. This grant been active since at least 2016. In fact, this grant ALSO funded Gain-of-Function research at the (infamous) Dr. Yoshihiro Kawaoka lab for research into Avian Influenza at the University of Wisconsin-Madison: https://wisc.edu/h7n9-influenza-is-both-lethal-and-transmissible-in-animal-model-for-flu/, Kelly April Tyrrell, 19 April 2017. The mention of the HHSN grant is at the end of the article.
Yours Truly did some more digging on the NIH-NIAID 75N93021C00014 grant listed above. This grant has been active since at least 2021. In fact, this grant ALSO funded Gain-of-Function research on Avian Influenza at the Kawaoka lab at the University of Wisconsin; at the University of Tokyo; and, at Cairo University, Egypt. Please see: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ebiom.2025.105842, “Susceptibility and shedding in Mx1 and Mx1- female mice experimentally infected with dairy cattle A(H5N1) influenza viruses”, Asim Biswas, et al.; Published 8 July 2025.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Now, to another item: it appears that HHS, via NIH-NIAID, is still funding Gain-of-Function research involving personnel connected with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV.) Yes, WIV — where Dr. Zheng-li Shi took the samples of the “enhanced with SHC014 bat coronvirus lab-created SARS-CoV-2 virus “template” that was “invented” and Patented by Dr. Ralph Baric, PhD, at his lab at UNC Chapel Hill: for the purpose of FURTHER ENHANCING this “template virus” in order to make MORE PATHOGENIC AND MORE LETHAL. Which SARS-CoV-2 virus was released into the world in late 2019, presumably, as a “lab leak”; and, presumably, before the virus was “finished” via the “enhancement process” at WIV. However, nobody knows for sure whether or not the SARS-CoV-2 virus (that became known as COVID-19) was “finished”, or if it was “still in the finishing process” when it was released. The HHS grants involved are: K08AI183990 (NIH-NIAID; granted in 2024 to the University of Washington, to John K. Bui); R01AI174304 (NIH-NIAID; granted in 2023 to the University of Washington, to Andre Michael Lieber); and, R01HL130040 (HL-NHLBI-NIH-HHS; granted in 2019, with continuing funding, to the University of Washington, to Andre Michael Lieber.)
The paper that was Epublished on 13 March 2026, funded by these grants, is here: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ymthe.2026.03.018, “In vitro and in vivo base editing of CCR5 in hematopoeitic stem cells confers HIV-1 resistance”, Anna K. Anderson, Chang Li, et al. Chang Li is affiliated with the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Please see the screenshot of the Abstract from this paper, below:
And, from the paper, the affiliation of Chang Li with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, from the Affiliations and Notes drop-down section:
This raises the question: Why is this research, while worthy and can produce significant positive results, has anyone from the Wuhan Institute of Virology involved?
In summary: the United States government, via HHS (NIH-NIAID) is still using taxpayer money to fund Gain-of-Function research on the Avian Influenza virus in The Netherlands, in Japan, and in Egypt; and, to fund Gain-of-Function research on elements of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) that involves personnel from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. None of this is acceptable.

Do not forget to LABEL AI articles, video and such.
Again this is going to be very rough since I do not have time to do any editing, however I wanted to look at AI Data Centers since I have run into a massive anti-AI campaign. Many of the wild stories I am hearing sound like a Chinese (or British) Disinfo-op.
I view AI like I do nuclear. It can be a blessing (power stations) or a curse (bombs.) However there is no putting the genie back into the box so we need to harness it for good.
One of the biggest Driving Forces in the Future for Jobs, are Data Centers. They are big, strong, bold, and Money Machines for the State in which they are built. Governor Kathy Hochul, for political reasons, has terminated all Data Centers being built, or to be built, in New York State. These Companies are now being sought in Alabama, Florida, Texas, Arizona, and many other States. Both the Taxes and the Jobs amount to LIQUID GOLD! New York State has made a terrible decision. All of this Income, and other Benefits, will be going to Red States, and some Blue, where Data Centers are sought as Cash Cows, with Lower Taxes and Record Setting Jobs. They must pay for their own Water and Power, and any leftover goes back to the State and local Community. Data Centers are tremendous WINS for the States and Communities that are lucky enough to get them. New York should change its Policy, IMMEDIATELY. The Radical Left Dumocrats must not be allowed to cause us to lose Data Centers, AI, and all of this incredible new Technology, to China, and other countries!
Newly declassified documents show that over a period of years starting during the 2020 election cycle, the People’s Republic of China carried out what is believed to be the largest compromise of election data in history — resulting in China’s illicit acquisition of 220 million U.S. voter files.
That information includes names, addresses, phone numbers, political party preferences, and other sensitive data that would be needed to register to vote, and engage in other nefarious activities.
This data loss presents an unprecedented election security nightmare. The intelligence even shows that China assigned a data exploitation unit specifically to this new project.
This is important because 220 million voter files is pretty much the entire US voting base. According to Brave AI “..the U.S. Census Bureau estimates about 168 million registered voters, while the U.S. Election Assistance Commission reports more than 209 million active registrations on state rolls…”
Why do I bring up these stolen voter rolls? Because China is now using AI to analyse them and no doubt using other stolen data to build a profile of every American voter.
China is preparing a roughly 2 trillion yuan ($295 billion) investment over the next five years to build a nationwide network of interconnected data centers and computing hubs.
The effort is designed to rapidly scale domestic AI infrastructure, support the development of frontier AI models, and position China to lead in a technology widely viewed as strategically decisive for economic productivity, surveillance, military applications, and industrial competitiveness through the 2030s.
The plan prioritizes Chinese suppliers—including Huawei—for at least 80 percent of core technology, notably AI chips, explicitly aiming to displace foreign providers such as Nvidia and AMD and accelerate the maturation of domestic alternatives.
This data-center push forms a central element of Beijing’s broader “Six Networks” infrastructure mobilization, which integrates computing capacity with power, water, and other foundational systems under state direction and financing.
It represents an aggressive, centrally coordinated response to U.S. advantages in AI hardware and hyperscale investment, seeking to lock in long-term technological self-reliance and shift the global balance in advanced compute resources.
Burning Bright: Beijing’s move to mobilize roughly 2 trillion yuan — nearly $300 billion — over the next five years for a nationwide network of interconnected AI data centers is being sold, predictably as the opening barrage of the next great power contest.
The plan, we’re told sits inside a larger ‘Six Networks’ mobilization that fuses computing power with electricity, water, communications and logistics, while on the American side, the hyperscalers are answering with their own staggering numbers, with Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft alone guiding toward $600–700 billion in combined capex for 2026, much of it pouring into data-center and AI infrastructure, even as power constraints seem readily apparent.
The surface-level narrative suggests an arms race between Washington and Beijing for frontier models and the industrial base that will deploy them, and yet, I believe this apparent contradiction actually ratifies the Sovereign Alliance between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, with each leader deliberately leaning into the rivalry narrative because it supplies the other with the precise Narrative Shielding required to accelerate down a path whose true destination is not model supremacy, but the build-out of the infrastructure of the Golden Age itself.
What the Collective Mind can presently grasp — and what capital markets can price in — is ‘AI versus AI.’
But the deeper architecture requires energy abundance at sovereign scale and the physical rails that will carry human extension and augmentation into the next civilizational epoch, with the current generation of models is simply the rudimentary, investable endpoint that justifies pouring sovereign and private capital into that larger paradigm.
Trump’s AI Action Plan and related executive orders (most of them from 2025) are framing the effort in national security terms while simultaneously advancing the nuclear and permitting reforms that make AI-scale power possible.
Xi’s parallel national push is doing the same in keeping with China’s own sovereignty doctrine.
Both are executing Warp Speed buildouts.
In other words, the models are the justification layer; the energy and computing mesh is the actual payload.
Again, an AI infrastructure sprint demands one resource above every other: abundant, reliable and ultimately decentralized power.
That is also the non-negotiable precondition of the Age of Abundance the Sovereign Alliance has been telegraphing for years — replete with a nuclear renaissance, gargantuan data centers and the on-shoring of critical manufacturing, all set against the backdrop of the broader disentanglement from scarcity-based control systems narratives like the Iran War and the collapse of the Green New Deal in the West are facilitating.
The ‘AI Arms Race’ between the world’s two largest economies therefore functions simultaneously as both Narrative Shielding and as a Translation Layer.
I am not so sure I agree with Burning Bright. I do not trust China AT ALL!
And to go along with it in the same Badlands substack:
DOE Releases Finalized Fusion Science and Technology Roadmap to Accelerate Commercial Fusion Power
The U.S. Department of Energy has released its finalized Fusion Science and Technology Roadmap, a comprehensive national strategy to accelerate the development and commercialization of fusion energy.
The plan targets the deployment of fusion pilot plants and commercial fusion power in the mid-2030s through coordinated efforts across science, technology, infrastructure, workforce development, and commercialization.
The roadmap was developed with input from more than 800 scientists and engineers from over 15 private companies, 10 national laboratories, and 70 universities.
It is organized around three core pillars: building critical infrastructure to close materials and technology gaps; driving innovation through advanced research, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence; and expanding the domestic fusion ecosystem via public-private partnerships, supply chain strengthening, workforce growth, and commercialization pathways.
It will be implemented through DOE’s newly established Office of Fusion and aligns with the department’s Genesis Mission.

TRANSCRIPT
Doug in Exile: Ladies and gentlemen, this is the brilliant lady who got her urgent message to Trump. Katherine Herridge is the one who did the investigative reporting that exposed China, but not just exposing China and their involvement in the election, how they’re using AI. They’re using high technology to massively affect our elections. This has very long-reaching repercussions going forward. Here’s Katherine Herridge, watch this.
Katherine Herridge: China is one of the biggest collectors of data on the planet. So, if you take that 220 million voter rolls and you combine it with something called the SF86, those are the security clearance applications that were compromised back in 2015, 22 million files, and then you combine it with all of the health information that’s been hacked, you can really build this kind of digital composite of an individual, and you can use that for you know, voter registration fraud, you can use that for identity theft, and significantly, you can also use it to recruit American citizens to your efforts. So, it’s not just about the collection of the data around the vote.
Doug in Exile: It’s espionage. That is huge, guys. This is terrifying. I’m going to show you First of all, don’t be scared, cuz the answer is, of course, America has to beat China on the AI war, which now you can see how it affects our elections. You want us to have powerful AI. Here’s Dave Sachs, watch this. Dave Sachs is kind of making the logical conclusion out of the stuff. He says, “This is concerning. For the first time, a Chinese model, the Kimi K3, has taken number one on the front-end code arena and is scoring at or near the frontier on other benchmarks.” So, I’ll just translate this for you. It is the smartest compute in the world, the smartest AI in the world. That makes it the most effective, most aggressive is now China, the number one list. I’ll show you the list in just a minute. Let me finish this up.
Meanwhile, America is tying itself in knots. Politicians and bureaucrats are banning new data centers. You guys have heard this. You can’t let these data centers in, it’s ruining our water, our farmland, not in my neighborhood. China’s the one funding all of that sentiment to get you to think that it’s dangerous. Piling on state regulations, pushing for new federal agencies to pre-approve frontier models. This is how you lose the AI race. The rest of the world won’t play by our rules if we bog ourselves down. Permissionless innovation is how America won the internet and became the technological envy of the world. We can do it again with AI while addressing risks in a targeted way, or we’ll watch our lead evaporate. And remember guys, the only way you can fight Chinese AI with all of your social security, all of your login codes for your email, credit card information, the dossier they build about you, the only way you can fight it is with a more powerful AI generated in America to defend us. AI beats their AI, but right now they’re winning.
Here’s big news, Kimi K3 is now number one in the front-end code arena with 1679 points, surpassing Claude Fable 5. So, look, all this is, it shows the arena here. Number one AI in the world is this Kimmy K3. This is the Chinese one. Next one down, Claude Fable 5. These are like owned by Microsoft, Google, you know, Chat GTP and all those. Here’s Chat GTP 5.6, GLM, Claude Opus, and then here’s Grok owned by Elon Musk down here. Number six, in the amount of compute they can actually do. And I’ve used most of these programs. I do a ton of AI I work. It’s how I was able to beat the internet on all the Mitch McConnell stuff.
Now, I’m just going to show you one more time. This is the I have the link in the description if you guys want to do your own research on these documents that were released. You’re going to go here to the whitehouse.gov. There’ll be a link down there. And like you go down here to this is vulnerabilities in electronic voting and ballot counting systems. And you can go down here and you can download these files in a zipped-up folder. And you can look at the PDFs that were released by Trump yourself. Let’s keep going.
Here’s Liz Harrington. According to the CIA in 2020, Venezuela created virtual machines to replicate legitimate voting machine results, then substitute manipulated data while making votes appear to originate from legitimate machines. This sounds exactly like what happened in Fulton County in 2020. So, now do you see how manipulating data can affect our elections? And it’s too bad we didn’t have better AI. Here’s a guy who actually sits on the board of of AI and making the case why our elections have to be secured by better technology. Watch this.
” I don’t think the president left any gray area or area for interpretation. This was about getting the save act passed. It was the last thing he said. But let me just address some of what you said, Brian. It is a different era now than it was in 18 or in 20. This is massively different. I sit on the advisory board of two quantum cybersecurity companies and know something about this. AI and the threat of hacking using modern AI technology has made all of our systems, both public and private, more vulnerable than they have ever been. We know, it’s been proven both by our own intelligence agencies as well as the private sector, that China has been data farming, harvesting data, both public and private, from the United States, from US citizens. Data they cannot even access yet until their cyber techniques enable them to do so. It is a different threat today than it was in 2020, in 2018, and that’s part of why the president was so forward-looking. We didn’t hear the moaning and complaining and kvetching, if you will, to use a very New York term, about what happened in the past. This was raising alarms about what could happen in the future. The threat is different. The threat is very real.
Doug in Exile: Well, and a big way around this really would be voter ID. On paper really would resolve a lot of this. But wait, there’s more. Remember the Democrat Party is trying to convince you the opposite of what this guy just said. They’re trying to convince you that your elections are secure because they want them to be insecure. This is Chris Krebs from 2020. He said former United States Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, he said the 2020 election was the most secure in American history. There was no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised. We now know, through this evidence, that’s a lie. Here’s John Solomon on the big breakthrough. He was the big one who really figured this out, that on our presidential daily briefs, Trump, all the information about China was hidden from Trump.
John Solomon: Well, listen, I talked to the intelligence chiefs in the last few days as we got prepared for this. It’s very important to understand, the president said this tonight, every intelligence chief vetted this speech. They made sure it was accurate. They told me they had never had been briefed on the size of the breaches, the 230 million Americans, the 220 million Americans whose data was stolen, that they considered a security breach. How many times have you on your network ever reported that five countries are capable of hacking our election machines? When is the last time you reported that Venezuela actually succeeded in breaching a machine which has implications for our future security? You haven’t because it was never made public. It has not been made to Congress, has not been told to the president in the past. We checked the presidential daily briefs. Our president was kept from this information. Now we have a chance to fix a glass chin of election security, make the ’26 election more secure.
Doug in Exile: Yeah, this is future-minded stuff, gang. Now here’s Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen talking about what he’s going to do.
Mark Wayne Mullen: I’ll be giving remarks on DHS’s efforts to support election security in the Indian Treaty Room at the EEOB at 11:00 Eastern time today. And then finally, we’re going to wrap up with Catherine Herridge who started this whole show. Big picture, China and the Communist Party collects massive amounts of data buying, stealing, or hacking to exploit vulnerabilities. President Trump said tonight the CCP’s operations obtained 220 million voter records. This is a security breach. This can be used for fraudulent voter registration, identity theft, targeting US citizens for recruitment by China.
Doug in Exile: Now you guys know the AI tech angle that no one else, no other channel is covering, so I hope you’ll reward us with a subscribe to get more of this kind of need-to-know information. If you want to know more about this information, then make sure that you check out this video on the unexpected twist that Mark Wayne Mullen reveals about the media working with China.

Adam: Thank you, Susan. Thank you, Barbara. And thank you, Susan Hogan, for joining us every week. I’m sure you’re getting our newsletter already. Thank you. , I’m jumping around in the super chats here. I want to take this one on data centers and flock cameras because this is coming up. So, thank you Eevee Funk. And I’m going to take this one here from number eight from our email newsletters. So, Eevee says, “Data Center Trump’s post, people not happy. very unpopular with both sides here in the here in Georgia. Georgia power [is] using eminent domain, seizing land, increasing costs, sucking up all the power, water, environment, and noise. Can you all provide some clarity?
And I’m going to pull this one from Streamyard … Ann says, “Americans do not want the data centers or flock cameras. Why does Trump not do anything to protect our freedom to move about the country without surveillance? This looks bad for him and all these tech companies and other billionaires belong to the group that means to control our country and our world. People are losing hope in Trump.”
Well, not everyone. “He needs to stand up and make this right and get rid of the surveillance data centers and tracking cameras are every move. And don’t let big tech control our country.” Thank you for your questions and concern and thank you Eevee Funk. Barbara and Susan your thoughts on this very popular issue at the moment.
Barbara Boyd: Well flock cameras will be litigated in court. I’m sure that’s what’s going to happen. Because to the extent that you have criminal cases based on the ability to see someone going somewhere to do something bad most certainly the lawyers for that criminal are going to be raising that on fourth amendment grounds. These are local decisions. And the police power in our country except for federal crimes actually exists with the state and that’s something people don’t take into account.
They assume the president can just do something on a national basis and overrule a state’s decision in the area of criminal justice or something else. That’s not so easy to do. We gave the states a whole lot of power for these particular situations. The same thing is true in terms of the architecture, I’ll put it, of the data centers. How eminent domain functions. How your electric bills are charged. The regulatory aspect of that primarily rests with the states. I live in the data center capital of the world uh Virginia, you can’t go an inch here without seeing a data center. Something that used to be pure country, 5 years ago is now data center, data center, data center, data center.
There’s a couple of myths out there. One is they’re not using a whole lot of water. Two, the way that Trump is talking about it, he wants them to actually be built, with their own power sources, i.e. They’ve got to set up their own electrical plant to get the permitting for this on a large basis, not on a state basis, but on a federal basis. Whether he can override what a state is deciding in terms of how they’re going to do this around the enforcement of eminent domain and other things, that’s again a legal question which he’s going to have to look pretty hard at. But his idea of doing this is to have the data centers actually build their own electrical inputs and take it off the grid because he says if we do this on a national basis, the grid isn’t even capable of handling it. That’s the result of of complete lack of infrastructure which has gone on for years and years and years. [Thanks to the Global Warming Psy Op. meant to hamstring the USA. – GC] So I understand that this is a big issue.
I think the key issue, the most critical issue which I think the president is fixated on is how is this going to all impact jobs? You know, what is the shift going to be in terms of jobs? Obviously, people who went to school and were told to learn to code as their future are probably going to be driven out of jobs in what was called by Obama the knowledge economy. That was the whole paradigm which we had during the Obama administration. People were laid off in manufacturing. We killed everything sent everything that was building something overseas to be built. And essentially what’s now happening is all the people who are were engaged in writing software or engaged in other [parts of] the knowledge economy so-called are being directly challenged by AI, because AI can in some respects do that a little bit better in that particular area of the economy.
So the question then becomes what are the jobs of the future? And that’s really depends on how we’re envisioning the future economy. And I look at all of this stuff as basically a kind of a way of generating fear in the population so that they get blinded to the real problem which is how does this actually impact the workforce of the future and what should my kid be doing now to assure that he makes a living. That’s the real challenge of the transition we’re going through. It’s a huge transition. People compare it to the industrial revolution. Those of us who are optimists also look at that and see that each of these major economic revolutions actually end up creating more jobs and more creativity if we actually navigate it the right way. So that’s how I’d answer this relatively complex field between state power under the constitution and federal power and how these things are actually going on right now.
Susan Kokinda: Yeah. Let me address another aspect of this because there’s an implicit assumption well it’s explicit I think in in the other question that we had, [That] data center equals surveillance state therefore all data centers mean we’re going to fascism. Well honestly to me that’s like saying this is a gun you can use it to shoot your wife therefore all guns will be used to shoot your wife. it’s just not the way that it works. Data centers [like] any technology can be used for good or ill.
The question is what what is the direction of your country? What is the intention of your president? You know, and the idea that because Donald Trump thinks that we need to have data centers so that we don’t fall behind China, which is a very real issue, means that he supports a complete surveillance state right out of 1984. It is just a it’s just a lazy argument.
I mean, people really have to sort of take a beat and put themselves in the real world because what the essence of psychological warfare again is in this sort of one-dimensional world where this equals that, therefore, if you’re for this, you are that, and your hair catches on fire. Rather than what is the world we’re actually living in? We’re living in a world where artificial intelligence is not going to be put back in the genie bottle. And as this president and JD Vance and many other people have made very clear, imagine a world in which China is way ahead of us in artificial intelligence. Think of that in terms of our defense. Think of that in terms of cyber attacks on our economy. Think of that in terms of the more positive side, you know, which is your ability to produce more, which you can if used properly. [If] you use artificial intelligence for advanced machine tooling, you still have a trained machine toolist who has to know how to use that. And by the way, those trained machine toolists make a quarter of a million dollars, right? Using AI to be more productive, to have greater dominion over nature. Now, is there a layer of the population of the people in that business who probably have a very different idea in terms of what to use AI for in terms of the surveillance state? Of course, there is. But, you know, and someone in the in the chat said, “Well, why doesn’t Trump express his concerns on this?” He has. [laughter] You’re just not, paying attention to what he’s saying. you’re paying attention to the explosion on the internet.
He’s made clear you can’t have data centers if they’re going to suck off local power. He’s made clear there are dangers and challenges in terms of AI, which is why he’s got whole sections of his administration working on this to make sure that there are the proper guard rails where it can actually be used in a way that benefits the country as opposed to not. Now, in terms of data centers, and again, these are direct local decisions. No, I don’t think it makes any sense to put one in some suburban area’s backyard, like here in Michigan, we have lots of brownfield sites, old industrial sites, which probably cost a little bit to clean up, which is maybe why some of your AI companies don’t want to do that. But, you could put through zoning kinds of things. you’re going to build one of these things, you got to provide your own power and you build it in a brownfield site, not in some suburban backyard or completely destroying the entire rural area of a county. But those discussions, to the extent that the federal government is involved in those discussions, they’re taking place to the extent that the state governments are in charge. [So] you better pay attention to your midterm elections and make sure that you have serious people who are getting elected to your legislatures your governor’s offices and so on so that they can make serious decisions not we’re banning all data centers forever and ever, in which case we’re all going to be speaking Chinese probably in a generation.
But how do we actually manage this important new technology in a way that does not hurt your population but still benefits the needs of the nation?
100:05 Adam: Thank you Barbara. Thank you Susan. . I have a few things to say on this because I am a computer native person. I think first off everyone says people don’t want data centers. Well, you know, people’s habits don’t really support that idea at all. The fact is that people are just spending more and more time on these devices.
There’s your data center.
Anything connected to the internet means data center. And we’re only increasing the amount of internet connected devices we have in the world. And that means we simply need more data centers. I’m always talk about Boston Dynamics, but I want to bring up Boston Dynamics again because again, first off, it’s an American company that’s 100% American ingenuity, but also they have really cool tech demos, probably the best robotic tech overall in the world right now. I know there are other players doing different things but let me just play this because all the data center infrastructure is also going to be supporting this which is literally robotics, and is about to be hitting society like a huge wave. Let me just play this one here for the spot robot.
[GO TO AROUND 101:00 for some really cool robot videos… I WANT ONE! -GC]
Don’t. All right. And one more really short clip here. [snorts] >> [applause] >> I mean, look at that first one. Isn’t that better than some poor Amazon or UPS driver having to sweat their balls off? [laughter] You know, it was 117 degrees real feel here yesterday in Michigan and there’s poor people out there delivering crap to people’s doors.
Yeah, you see the people just throwing boxes or Amazon packages across the thing. [laughter] Um, so thank you uh Ebie, thank you very much for sending
Liberty Bell says and I’m with her. It would nice to have a robot that cleans windows and scrub floors. Amen, [laughter]
Guys. That’s coming soon. So right now the work is being done on the dexterity of the hands. I could pull up other tech demos. So you have these companies that like have done all the tendons like the the arm works like on a tendon system like your fingers and the dexterity of these things are wild. So yeah, this is all coming very soon and it all has to be powered by data centers….

God is in Control . . . and His Grace is Sufficient, so . . . Keep Looking Up
Hopefully, every Sunday, we can find something here that will build us up a little . . . give us a smile . . . and add some joy or peace, very much needed in all our lives.
“This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn nor weep.” . . . “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Que Sera, Sera?
Determinism: The view that every event has a cause and that everything in the universe is absolutely dependent on and governed by causal laws. Determinism is related to fatalism, since determinists believe that all events, including human actions, are caused by something else. Determinism is typically thought to be incompatible with free will.
Fatalism: The belief that “what will be will be,” since all past, present, and future events have already been predetermined by God or another all-powerful force, such as “Fate.” In religion, fatalism may sometimes be confused with predestination, the doctrine that God chooses those who go to heaven before they are even born. It’s important to note that the Bible teaches predestination but not to the exclusion of free will; thus, the Bible does not teach fatalism.
Free will: The freedom of choice or self-determination that human beings possess; those who believe in free will believe that, given any situation, a person could have done other than what he did. Philosophers have argued that free will is incompatible with determinism and fatalism.
Indeterminism: The view that there are events that do not have any cause; many proponents of free will believe that acts of choice are independent of any physiological or psychological cause.
Theological fatalism or theological determinism is an attempt to demonstrate a logical contradiction between an omniscient God and free will, where free will is defined as the ability to choose between alternatives. In this it is similar in purpose to the conundrum “Can an omnipotent God make a rock too heavy for Him to lift?”
Theological fatalism’s premises are stated as follows: God is omniscient. Since God is omniscient, God has infallible foreknowledge. If God has infallible foreknowledge that tomorrow you will engage in an event (mow the lawn), then you must invariably engage in that event (mowing the lawn).
Therefore, according to theological fatalism, free will is not possible, since you have no alternative except to participate in the event (mow the lawn). If you do not mow the lawn, then God is not omniscient. But if you mow the lawn, then you don’t have free will, on account of your inability to choose an alternative.
Here is an opposing argument to theological fatalism: God is omniscient. Since God is omniscient, He is also infallible. If God has infallible foreknowledge that tomorrow you will mow the lawn, then you will freely choose to do so, not out of obligation or lack of choice. You still have free will to mow the lawn or not mow it; God merely knows your choice before you make it. You are not obliged to mow the lawn tomorrow any more than you are to play tennis or bake a cake. If you were going to change your mind, God would have seen that also, so you still have free will in all matters. Also, you will still make the same choices (exercising your free will), even if God chose not to see the future. God’s passive foreknowledge of the future does not alter your free will.
There is a vast difference between fatalism, chance (or fortune), and predestination.
Fatalism teaches that there is a blind, impersonal force over which no one has control—not even God—and that events are swept along by this blind, purposeless power.
Chance (or fortune) is a capricious force that supposedly causes things to happen “luckily,” without any control or direction by God. In a world ruled by chance, God can foresee what will happen, but that is all. Everything depends on mere luck. And if the advocate of chance is asked why or how things come to pass, he has no reply except to shrug and say, “It just happened.”
Predestination, the doctrine of the Bible, says that God has a purpose and He is working all things out according to His own will and purpose (Ephesians 1:11; Daniel 4:35; Isaiah 14:24; 46:10). Predestination teaches that God neither does nor permits anything except what serves His purpose (Psalm 33:11). This means that GOD IS the SOVEREIGN of the world, the One who does all things as He wills.
Those who blindly believe que sera, sera, or “whatever will be, will be,” are as wrong as the advocates of chance. It is true that events are certain, but only so because of the sovereign God who fulfills His own decrees.
Serious students of the Bible do not believe that things “just happen.” Christians reject fatalism and godless determinism. Rather, they understand that a wise, holy, good, and sovereign God has control of every detail of life (Matthew 10:29–30). The man who does not really want God to have this control or who despises the truth of God’s sovereignty does not love God and does not want God in his life. But God is sovereign, and He cannot deny Himself. xhttps://www.gotquestions.org/fatalism.html
From Chuck Swindoll –
Predestination. Just the word appears intimidating. It is perhaps one of the most difficult concepts in all of Christian doctrine because it appears on the surface to rob humans of their most precious treasure: their autonomy.
Although the doctrine challenges our notions of self- determination, it is ultimately what separates Christians from humanists, who proclaim that the fate of the world is ours to decide. The past, they say, has been fired in the kiln of history and cannot be altered, but tomorrow is still soft and pliable clay, ready to be shaped by the hands of humanity. Individually and collectively, we—not an almighty figment of wishful thinking—will determine our own future. Put in today’s terms, “It’s all about us.”
God’s Word teaches exactly the opposite. God not only created humanity and directed our past, He has already shaped our future. “Our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases” (Ps. 115:3).
Coming to terms with the doctrine of predestination requires a dramatic shift in our perspective. We emerge from the womb and progress through childhood viewing the universe with ourselves at the center. Then something wondrous happens at some point in the process of maturing—for most healthy adults, anyway. We suddenly realize that the world extends beyond the circle of our own horizon and that others see the same world from a different viewpoint. Soon, the universe no longer revolves around us, and we accept that our little circle is but a very small part of a much greater reality.
The same is true of salvation! We faithfully share God’s “plan of salvation” with individuals—as we should—but we too often fail to appreciate that Christianity is not “all about us”; it’s about Him. If we are to proclaim the complete gospel of Jesus Christ, we must recognize and embrace God’s masterplan of salvation. The almighty Creator is fulfilling His own agenda for His universe, which cannot be altered; therefore, those who have heard and accepted the plan of salvation have become a part of something much greater than themselves, even if they don’t realize it.
Take a few moments now and reread Romans 8:28-39 in light of God’s master plan of salvation. We tend to claim the promises of those verses as individuals. God does indeed love us personally and individually, but note that Paul used the first-person plural, “we” and “us,” throughout the passage. This does not promise that God will alter the universe to ensure the highest good of each individual. On the contrary, God’s “plan of salvation” is a mighty river of destiny into which a believer plunges. This river of righteousness will eventually flood the world, washing away the old order to make room for the new. And when Jesus returns to set all things right, our belief in Him allows us to become a part of that new order.
Make no mistake: Paul’s letter to the Romans is not about our salvation. His primary subject is the righteousness of God, of which our salvation is a part. The Lord is pursuing His own agenda, remember. It is to remove death from the throne of creation and give it to His Son so that the righteousness of God will rule all things. And He will do this whether anyone decides to join Him or not.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. Romans 8:28-30

Third area: the Clinical Trial (in recruiting) for ER-100: https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT07290244, “Evaluating ER-100 for Safety in People with Glaucoma or Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (Optic Nerve Conditions.)” Study Start (Actual): 2026-03-02; Primary Completion (Estimated): 2027-05; Study Completion (Estimated): 2032-03; Enrollment (Estimated): 18; Phase: Phase 1. Yours Truly will be discussing items from the “Researcher View” of this clinical trial.
From the “Outcome Measures (Primary)” section: it appears that study subjects will take an 8-week course (56 days) of doxycycline, which is called an “Activation Period.” There are numerous tests that study subjects will take during this “Activation Period”, such as, “Safety Laboratory Tests”, blood tests of various types, etc.; “Changes in Baseline Intraocular Pressure” tests; “Changes in Visual Acuity” tests; among other tests. These tests will be repeated on Day 112 of the study.
From the “Outcome Measures (Secondary)” section: it appears that study subjects have “secondary measures” testing performed during the 56-day doxycycline “Activation Period”, and also repeated on Day 112 of the study, such as: “Change in Baseline in Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) Test Results”; Retinal Nerve Thickness tests; ER-100 viral shedding tests; tests to determine if ER-100 viral DNA has appeared in the aqueous humor of the eye; among others. Study subjects will be followed “for up to 5 years to monitor long-term health and vision outcomes.”
From the “Detailed Description” section: NCT07290244 will have two “study cohorts.” Within each cohort, a “sentinel” study subject will receive an initial dose of ER-100 in an eye. From there, various tests will be performed to investigate whether this dose was tolerated; if it was, the dose will be “approved” by “Data Safety Monitoring Board”, and the other study subjects in the same cohort will receive that dose of ER-100. It appears that increase, or reduction, of the ER-100 dose will also be under the aegis approval of this board.
From the “Intervention” section: this describes the makeup of ER-100. At no point in this section is there any mention of SV40: only the other three “Yamanaka factors” are mentioned (OCT-4; SOX-2; KLF-4.) There is no mention of SV40 being used to “swap out” the fourth “Yamanaka factor” (c-Myc.) Were the study subjects informed that there would be SV40 in the ER-100 dose that would be injected into their eye? https://www.lifebiosciences.com/life-biosciences-announces-first-patient-dosed-in-phase-1-trial-of-er-100-for-optic-neuropathies/, 9 June 2026.
Fourth area: the 2020 paper by David A. Sinclair, et al., the “template” for ER-100: https://ophed.com/system/files/2020/09/s41586-020-2975-4_SMALL.pdf, “Reprogramming to recover youthful epigenetic information and restore vision”, David A. Sinclair, et al.; 2 December 2020.
From the section, “Reset of ageing signatures rather than identity”, the following quotation: “Our first goal was to find a way to reset the epigenome without erasing cell identity. Among the genes expressing the Yamanka factors, Myc is an oncogene that reduces the lifespan of mice (20) and is not required for the initiation of cellular reprogramming (21). We therefore excluded MYC from out experiments…” Based on this, Yours Truly asks this question: If it is true that Myc is an oncogene, and that for this reason, it was excluded from the Sinclair experiments: then why was a known potential cancer promoter element — SV40 — included in the template formulation (composition) for ER-100? Please see below, again from the paper, in the Methods section, subsection “Production of adeno-associated viruses“:
Another quotation from the section cited above: “Next we tested the long-term safety of ectopically expressing OSK in vivo. To deliver and control OSK expression in mice, we engineered a dual adeno-associated virus (AAV) system under the tight control of a tetracycline response element (TRE) promoter (Fig. 1a).”
Section 0047: AAV (adeno-associated viruses) may be used in compositions of ER-100. So can any of the recombinant viruses (herpes virus; vaccinia virus; alphavirus; and so on — “alone or in combination.”
Section 00221: list of recombinant viruses.
**** Section 00222 and Table 1.: list of recombinant AAV virus types; Table 1. is the list of AAV serotypes. AAV2 and AAV9 were the serotypes most used in the mice experiments for the December 2020 paper. AAV9 serotypes cross the Blood-Brain Barrier (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adeno_associated_virus.)
**** Section 00239, Section 00240, Table 2.: OSK (the Yamanaka Factors OCT-4, SOX-2, KFL-4) “…may be activated…in combination with activating an enhancer of reprogramming and/or inhibiting a barrier of reprogramming.” This sentence is highly significant, in light of the Table 2. Non-limiting strategies to enhance reprogramming. One of the “barriers to reprogramming” that would be inhibited is the p53 protein — the very protein that is the “master control” element in the human body to detect and suppress cancer cells. (https://www.thefocalpoints.com/p/breaking-our-censored-study-showing, Nicolas Hulscher, MPH, 19 December 2025; https://www.theqtree.com/author/pavaca1/, search “p53”.)
All of above is aside from the fact that Dr. Sinclair and his co-authors apparently had no issues with simulating eye injury effects in lab mice by crushing the optic nerve of the mice (under anesthesia); and, with simulating glaucoma effects in lab mice by injecting large amounts of microbeads into the eyes of the mice. After which, the mice were evaluated, then eventually euthanized for autopsy. Yours Truly will call these lab mice “Sinclair’s mice” (recall the phenomenon of “Fauci’s beagles” in the NIH-funded experiments with beagle puppies and sand flies: please see https://bfp.org/, the Beagle Freedom Project.)
Yours Truly is not making a case against therapeutic efforts that MAY BE helpful or conclusive in slowing down, stopping, or even reversing, medical conditions such as, certain eye diseases (whether or not these eye diseases are relating to the aging process): therapeutic efforts that MAY work. However, one also believes that therapeutic efforts which include inhibiting the body’s ability to detect and suppress cancer cells (such as, ER-100 containing elements that would inhibit the p53 cancer cell detector / suppressor protein); along with adding a known potential cancer promoter element (SV40) — is not the way to go. Similarly, why would a therapeutic effort need to include potentially using a recombinant virus (such as, ER-100 containing elements of, for example, the herpes virus [see Part One of this series])? If one is reading the December 2020 paper and the Patent WO/2020/069373 for the ER-100 template correctly; and the September 2019 Patent WO/2020/069339 for the “Mutant Reverse Tetracycline Transactivators” correctly — it appears that a tetracycline (doxycycline) is first added into, then removed from, the composition of ER-100, thus requiring a course of doxycyline to be taken by the patient (or, in the case of NCT07290244, the study subjects) to “activate” the “transgenes” in the composition. What happens after the 56-day course of doxycycline that the Clinical Trial NCT07290244 study subjects will take, in order to “activate” the ER-100 in the body? Does the ER-100 just keep working “on its own” inside the body after this course of doxycyline is completed? What happens if the ER-100 stops working, either during the clinical trial, or during the 5-year-follow period? What about the 5-year-long follow timeframe for the NCT07290244 study subjects in general?: Is this out of an “abundance of caution?” Or, is it, so to speak, to use the study subjects as a kind of “long-term human lab mouse study group since actual mice don’t live for 5 years” situation? Is it reasonable to ask: What recourse do the NCT07290244 study subjects have in the event that a serious adverse event occurs to them, either during the study period, or afterwards?

How about a irrelevant and unimportant deep dive into a totally disrespectful, yet, funny statement used in many endeavors, specially sporting events.
Definitely too much information, even if the subject matter is fully addressed in the first five minutes or so of the video.
Then there is this…
That was a bit strange… and very wet.
The next one is definitely up my alley.
Pepé le Pew with an interesting twist…or thud.
Which leads to…
That’s all folks!
No, really, that’s all folks!
We have reached the end of my run as an author at this time. Some of you are probably dancing in your skivvies and muumuus while shouting “good riddance” in your kitchens. Others may have a more subdued response because you ignored most of them. 😄
It’s all good.
I have been grateful for the opportunity Wolf provided to express my thoughts about past experiences, interests, people, our nation, Christianity, history, politics, business, health and so on. It has been chicken soup, therapeutic, for my soul. To all who spent your time reading and contributing your thoughts – thank you! It is encouraging to authors to know others are willing to spend time considering the subjects and presentations. Please continue to do so with all authors and supporting the efforts of Wolf. I have been humbled and learned much from all QTree members within our community. Being here has led to a better life for me and my family. Besides that, it is just a great place to hang out!
I am not going anywhere. I will still be reading and posting on threads many days. This place of online friends that Wolf has provided means a great deal to me. I just need more time to do other things of importance at home and in the community.
Life Lessons Learned
My mission here is complete for now. My assignment was to help others. That’s it. In so doing I relearned an important lesson that is really important for all of us if we are willing to consider it.
Luke 2:46
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. (ESV)
Regardless of His age, why would the Son of God spend His limited, precious time on earth sitting with the religious teachers of the stubborn, defeated people God chose to bring a light into the world; much less listen and ask them questions? He obviously knew far more than they did. Other Biblical text goes on to say that the religious teachers and others who were present were amazed at His understanding and wisdom as a child.
Some folks suggest it was His status as being both a young human and God and that may be part of it. It seems more likely to me that He was doing what better teachers do; listening and engaging to develop relationships and understanding with those around Him; building credibility of sorts. From that “lesser” position He might have hoped to influence their thoughts and beliefs by asking questions that had the benefit of guiding the participants.
Which led me to,
Proverbs 20:5
The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw itout. (ESV)
Most people keep their innermost thoughts and beliefs to themselves. It takes a person with a sincere desire to listen to understand and care to bring them out of that tightly guarded place. Coincidently, that is Habit #5 in the late Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” – Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood.
In a sense, all of the 7 Habits that Covey provided are Biblically inspired and supported in my opinion. They also work well in this life in many applications. I personally benefitted because I bought into them at one of the lowest periods in my life at 40 years of age. I saw the parallels with them and The Word… and sold out. I felt the contents of that book and subsequent training was provided for me personally as I was retooling spiritually as well as in my career.
Everything changed for the better. I learned I really needed to listen and care about what others thought and had to say, not just give it lip service. I needed to ask more questions and truly listen instead of being self centered and bull headed in my positions. The Lord used this changed attitude and approach to improve my ability to separate the wheat from the chaff as well as when to linger and when to depart in relationships. He imparted more of His understanding, wisdom and discernment. He obviously knew I badly needed it because I was a flat zero in that regard up to that point in my life. From there I learned to help others by asking leading questions for their thoughts instead of “telling” others what they “should” do, say or think. It helped my career blossom. It changed me spiritually and hopefully made me a better husband, father and friend.
I AM
This awakening led to acceptance deep within my being; not just of the words I read on pages from an old collection of books that some non-believers call fables. We know that the Hebrew term of YHWH is synonymous with I AM WHO I AM, which was stated by God Himself to Moses in Exodus 3:14. Knowing that led me to the following. All scripture from this point on will be in the King’s English (KJV) some readers prefer.
John 8:58
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
I learned the truth that Jesus really is God come to earth. He is The Word as The Word states. It became time for me to personally and spiritually mature in my own life before I could help others better understand who He is; which is The Way, The Truth, and The Life stated later in John 14:6. He stated in that scripture that He is the only path to God the Father.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Well, there it is again.
This opens it up to the next leading question. Do you want to live eternally with a gracious, loving God in heaven? Jesus taught all of us how. However, that came after He listened to mankind first. Then He would ask leading questions; the ones you read throughout the New Testament of the Holy Bible. The answers led to the key truths of our existence. Yet, many miss those two little words of identification that provide His full authority as God. To fully understand it you need to know deep within you the meaning of Peter’s response. From Matthew 15:15-16,
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
And once again…I am.
That was a leading question from the Creator and Savior of the universe that led to the equally great understanding and acknowledgement of who He is as well as the standing of Peter (us).
To conclude these observations, there is this from the back of The Book – Revelation 1:8,
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
You either believe Jesus or you do not. If you do not, just know that you do not receive the benefits of the relationship without the acknowledgement and acceptance of the forever binding contract (covenant) with YHWH that provides release from this earthly prison when you breathe your last breath. You get what you get for as long as you are here. If you do believe and accept Him, the great part is you pay nothing when you sign on. It is free and it provides the immediate release from your bondage to your personal screw ups and death. He paid the cost of entry for you.
My Next Assignment
I will be continuing to help homeschool Grandson #1 and it is likely that Grandson #2 will be coming online with that route later this year. Another primary reason is the Lord has placed on my heart to prepare for a deeper dive into The Word as I respond to His call to mentor and teach in our church. We are in the midst of a building project that is designed to specifically house our rapidly growing children and youth ministries. Upon completion, one aspect of it will lead to Christian homeschooling support groups for children of local families as well as an expanded Parents Day Out program.
Reengaging my desire and ability to employ Habit #5 will not only serve the children and youth better in this initiative of the church; it will be of major benefit to time starved working parents, grandparents and guardians. Once the trust and credibility is built, I hope to help in whatever way the Lord directs my path. Daughter has already signed on to do her part as a Pre-K teacher, which she currently does at another church.
It has not been lost on me that I did not have access to any of this type assistance as a young person. This lack of availability and access proved detrimental to my life into adulthood as well as to others around me with whom I interacted. I want far better for our kids, to give them a leg up in a challenging, sometimes difficult world in which live.
But, there is more. There is a SBC church that has been dying that is located between three thriving SBC churches within a five mile radius. The dying church has a good facility that at one time housed the largest congregation in our area. However, the church leaders during those days felt they needed to build a new, even larger facility on a more accessible major highway nearby. Their congregation was outgrowing the old facility. Once completed the majority of the congregation left for the new location while about 150 stayed. Those who left were proven accurate in their prediction and the new location now has about 2000 members and is still growing strongly. It also provides a playground, soccer fields, and walking trail that our entire community utilizes.
Over the decades that followed the membership that stayed at the former location has slowly dwindled to the point it became difficult to retain even a part time pastor. Today, there are only 11 members in the church that once had over 500. Part of the decline has been due to the strong success of the other three churches. Part is due to a lack of leadership and direction within its congregation. It is a sad situation for us personally as it was in that church that Daughter accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl visiting their Vacation Bible School. She was baptized there a few weeks later. It was the only VBS she ever attended at a different church or denomination than our former UMC location.
Our three Senior Pastors and church leaders are focused on building the kingdom for Christ, not personal careers and preferences. As a result we will be in partnership together as we commit financial resources, staffing and congregational support to the troubled church. An energetic pastor who has been a local resident for over twenty years has stepped forward and assumed the role. A number of current members in each of our three thriving congregations will be moving to the subject church to seed its revival and ministry into our community, reaching more people for Christ. The intention is to serve the restarted church for six months to a year before returning to home churches as desired.
Our church leaders listened first to understand. They responded to the need as Jesus instructed all of us to do.
Somewhere in there is where the Lord will likely be leading us to serve. Whether it be to help build the children and youth homeschooling ministries where we are, or, charting a new path to the reseeded church. We will listen first and respond as Isaiah did in 6:8,
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” (ESV)
YHWH has a plan. I need more time to prepare for my role in whatever it is as well as be a good husband, dad, papaw and patriot. I will end this series with this simple statement and question asked by Abraham in Genesis 18:25,
That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
For you, my friends…
Your Turn
It is your time. As I mentioned beginning a month ago there are a number of you who already possess the skillset to do these Dailies very well. You will have the support of all of us. There are so many paths you can take and it does not have to be elaborate. I just ask that you consider letting Wolf know of your willingness to do so. He has provided a beautiful place to spend your time and his leadership for it will prove fruitful.
Be blessed everybody. In God We Trust. Also, trust Trump and the plan, the Golden Age awaits.

Hidden Things
In Matthew 11:25–30, Jesus Christ invites the faithful but weary remnant of believers—those who have come to the end of themselves, worn out, and burdened amid a faithless generation—to come to Him and find rest. He begins by giving thanks to His heavenly Father, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children” (Matthew 11:25). He then praises God for hiding certain truths “from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike” (Matthew 11:25, NLT).
This passage reveals that, through His infinite wisdom and grace, God exercises discretion in determining who will receive revelation of the truth and who will not. The “wise and learned” are those who have intellectual ability, abundant knowledge, and human wisdom, but lack humility and openness of heart. Jesus was speaking about the religious leaders of Israel who considered themselves intellectually superior. They were too proud to come to Jesus, to trust in Him and find rest.
The Bible says that God “in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom,” so He used “foolish preaching to save those who believe” (1 Corinthians 1:21, NLT). God chooses to reveal spiritual truth to those who are humble and dependent on Him, rather than those who rely solely on their own knowledge or status.
These “things” that are “hidden” according to Matthew 11:25 concern the kingdom of God as clarified through Jesus’ actions and teachings. They are revealed only to His followers who, like little children, embody meekness, humility, and spiritual neediness. When the disciples asked Jesus why He spoke to them in parables, Jesus explained, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not” (Matthew 13:11, NLT).
These hidden things include Jesus’ authority and identity as Savior and Son of God. The apostle Paul wrote extensively about the mysterious and hidden things of God, which are understood only by true believers: “No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord … But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets” (1 Corinthians 2:7–10, NLT; see also Romans 16:25–26; Colossians 2:2–3; Ephesians 3:3–6; 1 Timothy 3:16).
God hides the secret mysteries of His kingdom from those who resist the truth. To the proud, His truth is foolishness (1 Corinthians 1:18–31). Paul explained that the gospel message “is hidden behind a veil … from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God” (2 Corinthians 4:3–4, NLT). Without humble dependence and childlike trust in the Lord, no one can see and understand God’s ways (Matthew 18:3–4; 1 Corinthians 2:14; James 4:6; Romans 11:33–34).
Kingdom seekers are those with “ears to hear,” “eyes to see,” and “hearts to understand” (Matthew 13:1–23). They come to Jesus with humble, childlike faith (Matthew 18:1–4; 19:13–15). Coming to Jesus in this way means no longer relying on oneself but trusting in Him. Jesus invites His faithful ones to trust in Him and find rest. In His revolutionary beatitudes—with their inverted view of the world’s value system—Jesus declares, “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs” (Matthew 5:3, NLT).
God the Father reveals His truth to people who recognize their own spiritual poverty. But for those who have closed their ears and hearts to the truth—the worldly wise, proud, and hard of heart—God takes an active role in hiding from them the secrets of His kingdom (see Matthew 13:14–16). They are the faithless ones who are too wise in their own eyes to lower themselves to the level of a meek and needy child.
The proper posture of believers, both now and in Jesus’ day, is modeled in Proverbs 3:5–7:
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil” (NLT). https://www.gotquestions.org/hidden-these-things-from-the-wise.html

Crossing a State Line Shouldn’t Cost You Your Right to Self-Defense
The right of self-defense shouldn’t stop at the border, especially for Americans who have already proven themselves to be law-abiding.
Imagine a woman driving across state lines alone at night, fearful that her car might break down and leave her vulnerable. Or picture a truck driver hauling valuable cargo across the country. In states such as California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, and Oregon—five of the ten states that refuse to recognize concealed handgun permits from other states—these travelers can find themselves defenseless. Nine states also either deny non-residents permits altogether or make them extremely difficult to obtain.
Last week, President Trump again called for passage of national concealed carry reciprocity. The legislation would allow anyone legally permitted to carry a concealed handgun in their home state to carry across state lines, much as Americans use their driver’s licenses nationwide. The legislation would affect millions of law-abiding Americans.
Much of the gun-control debate centers on hypothetical risks. With reciprocity, however, we don’t have to speculate. With 21.5 million concealed handgun permit holders in the United States, we already know how they behave. In addition, most Americans already benefit from reciprocity. The average state recognizes permits from 30 other states, allowing permit holders to travel legally with their firearms.
Last year, when the House Judiciary Committee passed national reciprocity along party lines, Democrats also opposed legislation that would allow current and retired law enforcement officers with at least ten years of service to carry firearms in facilities open to the public—including schools—while traveling across the country. Given their fear that allowing experienced current or retired law enforcement officers to carry would endanger public safety, it comes as no surprise that they also oppose allowing civilians to carry across state lines.
Congressional opponents of reciprocity warned that permit holders would commit crimes but cited no evidence to support that claim. The facts point in the opposite direction. Concealed handgun permit holders are extraordinarily law-abiding. States revoke their permits for firearm-related violations at rates measured in thousandths—or even ten-thousandths—of one percent. Police officers rarely commit firearm crimes, yet permit holders lose their permits for firearm offenses at only about one-twelfth the rate at which police are convicted of firearm-related crimes.
“This legislation is a dramatic infringement on states’ rights,” claimed Emma Brown, executive director of the gun-control group Giffords, echoing a common criticism. Yet those same organizations routinely advocate federal gun-control laws that override state policy choices.
Opponents also claimed that national reciprocity would confuse travelers about which gun laws apply in each state and lead to more arrests. But reciprocity already exists across much of the country, and no evidence shows that out-of-state permit holders create such problems. Indeed, the same situation exists for drivers when they cross state lines: They are required to follow the driving regulations for the state they are in.
Critics also argue that permit standards vary from state to state. Yet no evidence shows that states with less restrictive permitting systems experience higher permit revocation rates.
Despite these fears, more than 86 percent of police chiefs and sheriffs support national reciprocity, and over 90 percent of rank-and-file officers support concealed carry laws. These officers see firsthand how concealed carry works in practice. They understand that police deter crime, but they also know they usually arrive after the crime has begun. Victims often must defend themselves first. Consistent with that experience, the overwhelming weight of academic research finds that allowing law-abiding citizens to carry concealed handguns reduces crime.
With tens of millions of Americans legally carrying concealed handguns over many decades, if opponents could identify even dozens of cases in which out-of-state permit holders created serious problems, their concerns would deserve careful consideration. They cannot. Such cases remain exceedingly rare. Americans do not need to guess whether gun-control advocates’ concerns are justified.
Carrying a firearm provides the greatest benefit to those who face the largest physical disadvantages—women and the elderly—and to those who face the highest risk of violent crime, including many poor black residents of high-crime neighborhoods. Not surprisingly, these groups have accounted for the largest percentage growth in permit ownership over the past decade. Between 2015 and 2024, permits held by women grew 112 percent faster than those held by men, while permits held by black Americans grew 284 percent faster than those held by whites.
Real life is not the movies. Most women cannot overpower several larger, stronger men, no matter how well-trained they are. Men also generally possess greater upper-body strength and speed.
A firearm changes that equation. It gives women a far more effective means of self-defense. If an attacker has already closed the distance enough to seize a woman’s firearm, she is already in grave danger regardless.
Peer-reviewed research finds that allowing concealed carry reduces murder rates for both men and women. The reduction for women, however, is roughly three to four times larger than the reduction for men.
The House will likely pass national reciprocity, but it faces a steeper challenge in the Senate. Breaking the expected Democratic filibuster will require 60 votes, meaning at least seven Democratic senators must cross party lines. Those senators need only examine their own states’ experience. Six states represented by 12 Democratic senators—Arizona, Georgia, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Virginia—already recognize concealed handgun permits from every other state. None has seen a problem with reciprocity.
Police play an indispensable role in public safety. But around 700,000 officers cannot protect over 340 million Americans everywhere at once. Congress should ensure that law-abiding Americans do not lose their ability to defend themselves simply by crossing a state line.

ER-100: SV40 Injected into the Eyes to “Reverse Aging”: Part One of Two
There is a certain tenured PhD professor in genetics at Harvard University. His name is David A. Sinclair. He is a native of Australia. Dr. Sinclair, and his lab at Harvard, specialize in the study of what ages human beings. He also studies methods and ways to slow down, or even to stop, this aging process. He is the holder of numerous Patents in this regard. Please see: https://sinclair.hms.harvard.edu/people/david-sinclair. Dr. Sinclair is also the co-founder of a company called Life Biosciences. The company’s statement: “At Life Biosciences, we are on a mission to reverse age-related disease” (https://www.lifebiosciences.com/about-us/about-life-sciences/.) Today’s offering is not to be viewed in any way as a “hit piece” on Dr. Sinclair, or to denigrate his work: instead, it is to present another take on a certain project that he is working on.
However — the Life Biosciences press release, cited above, mentions only three of the four “Yamanaka factors” that ER-100 would be be utilizing. This is not a small point. And this is where the story gets interesting.
Dr. Shinya Yamanaka (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinya_Yamanaka) discovered proteins, called Transcription Factors, which regulate / control “…the rate of transcription of genetic information from DNA to messenger RNA [mRNA], by binding to DNA sequences” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcription_factor.) Dr. Yamanaka reduced the original number of Transcription Factors from twenty-four down to four: OCT-4; SOX-2; KLF-4; and, c-Myc. It is the c-Myc transcription factor that can “go rogue”, so to speak, and foster the growth of cancer cells: https://www.nature.com/articles/nrc904, “c-MYC: more than just a matter of life and death”, Stella Pelengaris, et al. A screenshot of the Abstract of this article is below:
What is SV40 — the element that has been proven to be in both the Pfizer-BioNTech and in the Moderna modRNA COVID-19 bioweapon “vaccines”? Please see:https://doi.org/10.1093/jnci/91.2.119, “Cell and Molecular Biology of Simian Virus 40: Implications for Human Infections and Disease”, Janet S. Butel, John A. Lednicky; 20 January 1999. Following is a quotation from the Abstract of this paper: “Simian virus 40 (SV40), a polymavirus of rhesus macaque origin, was discovered in 1960 as a contaminent of polio vaccines that were distributed to millions of people from 1955 to early 1963. SV40 is a potent DNA tumor virus that induces tumors in rodents and transforms many types of cells in culture, including those of human origin.” (Bolding mine.)
Why is Yours Truly including a mention of SV40 here? Because SV40 is contained in ER-100. It is the “swapped-out” protein for the fourth Yamanaka Factor, c-Myc, discussed above. The following screenshot, below, is from the Latypova article on ER-100: a screenshot from the 2020 published paper by Dr. David Sinclair, et al. (which will be further discussed in Part Two.) It is also, in Yours Truly’s opinion, the reason why the Life Biosciences press release, cited above, mentions only three of the Yamanaka Factors — it is possible that the companydoes not want the public to know that SV40, a cancer-causing element, is contained in the drug: especially in light of the fact that more people are starting to realize that SV40 is in the modRNA COVID-19 bioweapon “vaccines” that they have in their bodies:
In other words: the poly(A) “signal” used in the modified AAV-TRE-OSK element in ER-100 is the SV40 poly(A) “signal.” AAV is “adeno-associated virus vector” element; TRE is the tetracycline-derived element; OSK is the acronym for the three Yamanaka Factors OCT-4, SOX-2, and KLF-4 elements. Thus far, then, ER-100 is comprised of AAV (with the SV40 poly(A) tail) + TRE + OSK-4 + SOX-2 + KLF-4. But this is not the entire story. Yours Truly now turns to the Patent “template” for ER-100, which was “invented” by Dr. David A. Sinclair, et al., Patent Number WO2020/069373, filed on 27 September 2019.
The Patent information for WO2020/069373 is found here: https://patentscope.wipo.net/search/en/WO2020069373. The Patent was filed using an international listing, as opposed to a US Patent listing. The International Filing Date was 27 September 2019. The Publication Date was 2 April 2020. The applicamts for the Patent were the President and Fellows of Harvard College, 17 Quincy St., Cambridge, MA, 02138. The funding for the research leading to the Patent was provided through NIAID grants R01AG019719, and R01DK100263. The Title of the Patent is: “1.WO2020069373 – CELLULAR REPROGRAMMING TO REVERSE AGING AND PROMOTE ORGAN AND TISSUE REGENERATION.” The following are Yours Truly’s summaries of some of the listings in the Description of the Patent:
Section 0002: Lists the NIAID grants that funded the “invention.”
Section 0018: mention of SV40: an “expression vector”, also as a “constitutive promoter.”
Section 0019: SV40 amounts used in the composition of the “invention.” These amounts range from AT LEAST 70%, up to 100% “in certain embodiments.”
Section 0033: the “invention” will contain a tetracycline (example: doxycyline.)
Section 0034: the “invention” may include TRE (a Tetracycline Reverse Element (a promoter.))
Section 0035: areas of the body where the “invention” can be used. Examples: eye; ear; nose; mouth; bone; breast; lung; pancreas; cardiac muscle; liver; skin; heart; intestine; testis; ovary.
**** Section 0047: the “compositions” of the “invention” may include “any of the recombinant viruses” (e.g. alphavirus; vaccinia virus; herpes virus; AAV; etc.)
Section 0074: types of ocular diseases the “invention” can be used for.
Section 00109: description of the Gain-of-Function techniques used to produce the “invention.” Section 00100 and Section 00111 further describe the Gain-of-Function techniques used.
Section 00133: the “invention” can also use a “tetracycline-controlled transactivator” called MUTANT REVERSE TETRACYCLINE.
Section 00263: start of listings of the “engineered nucleic acids”, “engineered cells”, “engineered proteins”, and “chemical agents” that the “invention” will use to induce “expression” of the OCT-4, KFL-4, and/or the SOX-2 factors cells.
Section 00294: start of discussion and listings of the various cationic lipids that the “invention” will use in “certain embodiments.” Examples: Lipofectin (DOTMA + DOPE); DOTMA separately; DOSPA; DDAB, etc.
Now, from the above, thus far, ER-100 is comprised of: AAV (with the SV40 poly(A) tail) + TRE (Tetracycline Reverse Element promoter) + OSK-4 + SOX-2 + KFL-4 + possibly “any of the recombinant viruses (Section 0047) + a MUTANT REVERSE TETRACYCLINE TRANSACTIVATOR FOR EXPRESSION OF GENES (Section 00133) + NANOPLASMID (Section 00200) + a cationic lipid (Section 00294.)
It also appears, in Yours Truly’s opinion, that ER-100 for use to “reverse aging in the eye” may be only the first application of Dr. Sinclair’s “invention.” It appears that the “certain embodiments” of his “invention” can potentially be used to “reverse the aging” of many areas and organs of the human body.
To be continued in Part Two.

I hope all enjoyed the outstanding 250th celebration of Independence Day! It was a very special day in the Trade home. The grill was sizzlin’ as is the heat in this neck of the woods. Spent the evening watching the DC celebration on TV while Daughter and family enjoyed the area fireworks show on their boat out on the local lake. We went outside this evening some as well since the fireworks around us were pretty special. It went on until about 2:30 AM. It has been so hot and humid you could cut the air with a knife even at midnight.
Quick Berberine Update
Following up on last week’s health update, I wanted to bring up a product wifey has started taking instead of the NOW version of Berberine with a separate cinnamon supplement. The positive results hit quickly. If it meets your budget try the following:
It absorbs into your system easier and more quickly. It has the ceylon cinnamon and milk thistle supplements in the same capsule. It’s still relatively early in her retooling, but it sure looks she is saying buh-bye to Amlodipine for good. BP is great everyday and no spikes in months.
Past Independence Day Celebrations
Casting aside the times of my youth that were painful, the good times we had as a family and community have me reminiscing. I began thinking back and remembering the July 4th tradition our family had that was inspired by my WW II veteran father when I was a growing up in the Middie land of southwest Ohio. Even in an active battle zone of a home from warring parents at times, which lasted until his death; around the 4th it was a simpler time of fun, laughter and no responsibility. There were also specific orders to not get in too much trouble, which I managed to disobey a time or two. 😇
I remember the splashing of water from garden hoses and slip ‘n’ slides on the ground in the yard. Water balloon fights were held when it was more fun to lose than win. A game of Jarts (lawn darts) would threaten to poke holes in young bodies, but was fun none the less.
Cornhole of today is just a wussy version of Jarts of yesteryear.
At some point in the day there would be an ice cream or popsicle. Like most days in summer, there would always be the climbs to the top of the maple tree in the front yard. Funny, we never heard any parent say not to do it or we might fall and break our necks. Folks seem to let kids be kids more and none of us fell out of the tree. Jumped – yes. Fell – no.
😄
Then there were the bike races up and down the sidewalks terrorizing the neighborhood. There were the clothes pins that attached baseball cards that made the spokes on the wheels give off slapping noises to help mimic a loud exhaust of the muscle car or Harley in our young imaginations. Sometimes we would hit the the monkey bars at the playground of our school down the street. It was open to the public everyday, no attorneys to kill the fun and make the school put up fences to keep us out. When dinner would roll around there were picnics with lots of choices.
None of the parents were worried that something bad would happen to us. People were different back then. I am sure bad things happened occasionally in some places, but we were unaware. We had the run of the whole area as kids and nobody ever got hurt beyond a scrapped knee or accosted by a pervert. The adults seemed to always look out for one another’s kids anyway. Nobody was a afraid of being sued or falsely accused of a crime. So many of the fathers were military veterans. Messing with the kids would not be on any wannabe thug’s or pervert’s dance card.
One 4th celebration we visited the new Armco Park as a family; a company owned recreation park for employees of the old Armco Steel Company. Steel mill friends of my dad would gather there and invited us to tag along. They cooked out on grills while families enjoyed all the fun things to do. It was there that I ate my first grilled spare rib and it was heaven. They had a 100+ acre lake in which to fish and ride pedal boats. It was a nice environment to walk hiking trails and play on the softball fields. The park still exists. It was sold to the county a couple of decades ago by the Japanese corporate majority owner of Armco. A link about the park is below.
It was also there that I first grabbed a golf club and played their short executive course with my dad and some of his work friends. I never forgot it. I was hooked even though I knew we would never be able to afford for me to play. It inspired me to be a 12 year old caddie at a local golf club near our house. It was the only time I caddied while not really knowing anything about how to do it. It rained like crazy and the golfers quit after 7 holes. Caddies were paid only by tips and I received nothing, which is exactly what I deserved. The golf bag felt like it weighed as much as I did and I ruined a pair of shoes in that rain. I never went back, the experience was miserable along with my caddying.
Our rites of summer around the 4th always included a pick up baseball or softball game that would get going with the adults choosing sides. Paper plates would serve as bases. The team with the youngest players always won – wink, wink. The fireworks would start with sparklers, firecrackers, black cats, M80’s, and bottle rockets. It was amazing what could happen when they were stuffed into empty Coke bottles. 😂 If our parents could manage the time with wild children running everywhere, we would go to a park area in town where the city would have a fireworks show.
Other evenings around the 4th and in the summer would bring a quieter time in our home’s small sun room. Dad’s Zenith multi-band radio sat out there in warmer weather months. Each evening in the summer and especially around the 4th we would gather around the radio and listen to a Cincinnati Reds game on whichever assigned radio station of the team for the year – WKRC, WCKY or WLW – unless they were playing on the west coast. We did not have air conditioning back then; but did have a fan, Cokes, and the cool of nightfall to help us enjoy the evenings. If the game was boring or out west and on too late for me to stay up, the fireflies (lightning bugs) out in the back yard would keep us entertained until it was time to hit the sack.
I wonder why it all seemed so right? Hmmm…

IT IS TIME TO BUILD THINGS AGAIN, AMERICA!!!
In those days – the late 50’s into the 60’s – America was about building, exploring, innovating. We still had pride in our country and people. We worked TOGETHER. Well, at least until the globalist cabal scum and neocons with the help of the clowns, murderers, race hustlers and thieves took control of our government and media. In the process they shipped a lot of our younger working age men to southeast Asia to die or drug themselves into oblivion.
See how that works? Don’t fall for it again, America. Head down, eyes on the prize. The Golden Age awaits. Instead, let’s go back to rewarding character, hard work, and using intelligence that is useful to humanity. Let’s defend against overreach of government tyrants and those who would use and abuse. Let’s introduce true justice for all and have stiff penalties for those who commit acts against this nation and its citizens. Let’s ignore or even ridicule the propagandists along with the fake judges. Let’s focus on substance, not silliness and minutia. Let’s center ourselves on what God would approve and whole lot less on carnal desires. Let’s also spend more time on enjoying our lives and each other.
Back To The Story
College and the Arkansas misfire years brought very few memories of activities around the 4th. An occasional fun charity golf tournament or barbecue outing would occur, but life there was not focused on celebrating our nation and its independence. That was probably because there were so many Democrats in the state back then. 😂
Fortunately, the Huckabee’s and other We the People patriots reversed the Arkansas curse of Demoncraps in control and keeping the state from fulfilling its promise.
Moving to my beloved hills of east Tennessee and later marrying the love of my life, the stars began to align as they should. People here were far more patriotic and wanting to celebrate. There were huge fireworks shows in the city along with the famous annual 4th of July music celebration with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra at the former World’s Fair site that is still a thing today. Country music stars and tourists poured into the area. Some stars performed outside Dollywood in Patriot Park among other venues that were followed by fireworks shows. Tennessee is known as the “Volunteer State” for good reasons. Patriot pride runs deep and has served our nation well over centuries.
Even our neighborhood got together around the 4th. One year a recently divorced neighbor friend opened his property for all of us. He had 40 acres with horses for the kids to ride. We gathered at his place and nuked some burgers on the gas grill. Everybody brought covered dishes and the kids played outside until it was time to light sparklers and firecrackers in the evening. Wifey and I were inside our friend’s home talking with neighbors when our young daughter came in with big eyes and said, “Fire!” We all laughed and told her that, yes, those were sparklers and the grill was smoking; that all was OK. She shook her head and said, “No – fire!” and pointed toward a field beside the home.
Yup, the kids had set the brush on fire throwing sparklers and firecrackers around. It had been a dry period and conditions were prime for a wildfire. All of the adults sprang into action and got the water hoses going while putting out all of the sparklers. Our friend, who was in law enforcement, called the area’s volunteer fire department to make sure. So the kids were treated to the firemen and fire engines, which they thought was the coolest thing ever. When finished the firemen stopped to enjoy the scene with the kids, showing them the equipment and letting them activate the siren and lights. The food and beverages were made available and enjoyed by all.
When we got home that evening Daughter looked at both of us and said, “See, told ya there was a fire.” She has never let us live it down. However, I concede the little booger might have prevented a much bigger problem from happening.
😂
Special Salute To Vets
I am going to focus on one who I knew the best, however, please know that our family has the deepest respect for every man and woman who has served our nation in uniform. God bless all of you.
In my Veteran’s Day story about our fathers, I did not know what I have since discovered in research concerning my father’s service in the Naval Air Force in the Japanese theater of WW II. He never completely opened up about those days. He was always modest about himself, his accomplishments and connections in life, so it is not all that surprising. I think I now know more about why.
Soon after the victory by our forces at the massive bloodbath known as Okinawa, Dad’s wing was assigned to the air base established on that Pacific island. I have a dozen old photos he took of it while stationed there. He was a radar/radioman/electrician on the newly revamped PB4Y-2 Privateer bomber that had a crew of eight. There are lots of photos of it and his mates. The Privateer was first derived from the B-24 Liberator used in the German theater. With this upgraded version they were assigned patrol and bombing duties of shipping routes along the coasts of Korea and China. In 1945 there were only a small number of the planes placed into service as the design and manufacture was still being adapted and performance monitored before going into full production. It was designed to excel in low altitude flying conditions when they targeted ships with new radar guided glide bombs. Basically, the wing of bomber personnel Dad was assigned to were the flight and electronic beta testing (guinea pigs) for this redesigned plane. There were reasons to believe the plane would perform well, but nothing was known with certainty yet.
Each plane had a dozen 50 caliber guns and was able to take on Japanese fighters successfully. As you might guess the primary gunner was nicknamed “Gunny” and Dad had previously told me he was quite good at his role along with the pilot. He never expanded on his role, but Dad had been trained to employ their Electronic CounterMeasures (ECM) that could detect enemy radar and communications. I found his training manual and designation in his old military records. ECM was critical to their survival due to the low altitudes they flew in their assignments. It turns out Dad’s proficiency probably contributed greatly to his crew mates survival and mission success. Growing up, I always wondered how he developed an uncanny ability to isolate his concentration on one thing when everything around him was in chaos. Finding this information and learning more was a light bulb moment for me all these years later.
After learning those things I dug deeper into historical naval reports and discovered that safe returns were not always the case with others in their wing. For example there were three flight crews in his wing that performed similar missions that were lost in the same month of July 1945. Two were lost after successfully bombing Japanese ships, but went down in the ensuing battle. They were lost off the Korean coastline. The other was lost after a run somewhere further out to sea. There were no survivors in any of the three.
He never discussed any of that. When I asked he would just say their crew was assigned patrol. Based on the old photos that he took from the plane as well as of his crew mates, there was much more that he just did not want to discuss. He had even taken a couple of aerial photos of Nagasaki post Fat Man (atomic bomb) that was dropped by that B-29 Superfortress. Dad’s crew were assigned patrol in the area afterwards. There were many photos of life in Shanghai, China, including some of the locals, residences and other buildings. He preferred to focus on the good and just did not want to go into detail about the dangers and horrors of war he experienced, which was typical of him. He saw himself as a protector of his family and friends living his own predestined life until it was time for it to end.
He did say he was just doing his job and what was right. Most of his mates were like him in that they were just kids when they enlisted, however, many came out scarred and hardened men. In contrast I appreciate the kindness my father openly displayed with everybody even more now than I did when he was alive. He let many of the hits of life slide off his back including the issues with his mentally ill wife, my mother, who made all of our lives miserable at times. This is one extremely thankful and proud son who can always look back and be confident that I loved, honored and respected my father while he was alive. That continues with his memory. Wifey felt the same way about him as he was always kind and helpful to her. She knew she was loved. I felt the same about her awesome veteran father.
These revelations from the research have brought added meaning to that folded flag from his military honors burial ceremony that is on display in our home. We take comfort in knowing he along with her father helped America achieve its 250th birthday and miss them both every single day.
Greatest generation, indeed.
It’s Your Turn
This would be a good time for me to conclude and open the thread to comments for all of you to share your experiences and memories of this very important holiday in our nation’s history.
Happy 250th birthday, America! May God bless and protect this nation for as long as time exists.
Always remember JFK’s famous quote – “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.“
