Dear MAGA: 20260804 ❀ DePat Tuesday ❀ Open Topic

This DePat Tuesday Open Thread honors the author of the original Tuesday open thread on this site, namely the late Susie Sampson, a.k.a. Deplorable Patriot, among her other handles, pen names, etc.

For more on the untimely passing of Dear DePat, please see these three posts.

At one time, DePat handled FOUR daily open threads here, in addition to taking care of her relatives, choir duties, and numerous other responsibilities. She was a powerhouse – a dynamo – a true force of nature.

DePat’s faith in Trump, Q, “The Plan”, the White Hats, and “the anons” in general, was legendary. Although I didn’t always agree with her quick acceptance of some sketchier evidence and fringier theories, I will gladly admit to “coming around” to numerous so-called “conspiracy theories” which she championed first. I was always careful to give her credit for being right, too, when I had been wrong.

It is impossible to overstate how much DePat did for not only this site, but for her country. I urge all to say a quick prayer of thanks, whenever you think of her, for the privilege of knowing, in life or after death, such an exemplary human being, and lover of God.

And thank you, Susie, for the firm foundation which you left us, when you were called to your true home!

The Myths and Realities of Human/Ape “Similarity” Numbers

If you have ever read or heard something about the genetic similarity of humans and (other) apes, and were suspicious of the numbers – whether you’re a fan or skeptic of evolution – then you were absolutely right to be suspicious.

This video, by an evolutionist who is something of an expert in the topic, will explain WHY you should be suspicious of genetic similarity numbers.

She is able to make this topic understandable, but unfortunately, it can get a bit boring, too. Grab some coffee and maybe some cookies.

The TL;DR is that there are an infinite number of ways to measure similarity, with completely different meanings, and every one has pluses and minuses. The worst thing – the thing that you can’t do – is mixing and matching different measurements. By one standard, 99.5% and 99.2% is a huge difference in similarities, but by a different one, 75% and 65% are almost the same, no big deal. By one standard, 99% similarity means it’s the same species at the same time. By another standard, 99% similarity could be two species that cannot interbreed, and one is a fossil.

Pretty meaningless, if you’re not extremely careful. The numbers change rapidly between methods, as you will see.

I am familiar with this problem, having designed similarity metrics for certain types of searched data at “Shallow State”. What one learns to do is to observe how the metric behaves, and interpret the results based on the metric, NOT based on what you think “100%”, “99%”, “95%”, “75%”, “50%”, and other values, should mean. If the metric works well for your purposes, that’s all you need. If it works perfectly for your most important cases, even better.

The numbers mean what THEY mean, not what YOU THINK they should mean. You will see this in spades, in the video.

Erika uses a “provocative question” about orangutans as a phony but effective way to get people to listen to an introductory lecture on similarity metrics in comparative genomics. If you listen all the way through, you get to hear her joke about this at the end. You also get to hear her excellent perspective about how massive the differences are between humans and (other) apes, in whatever percentage difference a particular metric gives.

And by then, you will be 100% skeptical of similarity numbers without explanation and context.

And with that, let’s get started.

Is it illegal for ManDummi to call for rioting when Netanyahu  comes to NYC for his September 26 2026 address to the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly?

Doesn’t that step over the line of protected speech into incitement?

18 U.S. Code § 2101 – Riots

(a)Whoever travels in interstate or foreign commerce or uses any facility of interstate or foreign commerce, including, but not limited to, the mail, telegraph, telephone, radio, or television, with intent—

(1)to incite a riot; or

(2)to organize, promote, encourage, participate in, or carry on a riot; or

(3)to commit any act of violence in furtherance of a riot; or

(4)to aid or abet any person in inciting or participating in or carrying on a riot or committing any act of violence in furtherance of a riot;

and who either during the course of any such travel or use or thereafter performs or attempts to perform any other overt act for any purpose specified in subparagraph (A), (B), (C), or (D) of this paragraph— [1]

Shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

(b)In any prosecution under this section, proof that a defendant engaged or attempted to engage in one or more of the overt acts described in subparagraph (A), (B), (C), or (D) of paragraph (1) of subsection (a) [2] and (1) has traveled in interstate or foreign commerce, or (2) has use of or used any facility of interstate or foreign commerce, including but not limited to, mail, telegraph, telephone, radio, or television, to communicate with or broadcast to any person or group of persons prior to such overt acts, such travel or use shall be admissible proof to establish that such defendant traveled in or used such facility of interstate or foreign commerce.

Is hate speech illegal in the U.S.?

This article examines these legal boundaries, Supreme Court rulings, and the differences between hate speech and hate crimes.
Key Takeaways

  • The First Amendment generally protects hate speech in the U.S., reflecting a commitment to free expression, even when such speech is offensive.
  • Key Supreme Court rulings, like Brandenburg v. Ohio and Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire, define the limits of protected speech, emphasizing exceptions for incitement, fighting words, and true threats.
  • Hate speech is distinct from hate crimes; while the former is not criminalized, the latter involves unlawful actions motivated by bias and carries legal consequences.
pgroup

He’s already committed a federal crime IMHO.

This should be discussed at the next meeting of the NYSD grand jury.

HILARIOUS: Marco Rubio Finally Responds to Viral Couch Meme — Reveals Dan Scavino Built an Entire Meme Board! (VIDEO)

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has finally responded to the hilarious photograph of him appearing to disappear into a White House couch, and it turns out he hated the image before the internet transformed it into comedy gold.

The original photo showed Rubio slouched deep into a couch during President Trump’s explosive Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky…

During an interview with Lara Trump, Rubio admitted that his first reaction to the photograph was anything but positive.

“I HATED that picture!” Rubio said.

“In that couch, if you don’t have a pillow, you kind of sink. I look terrible!” he explained.

But Rubio said the photograph eventually “turned into this other thing,” and even he had to admit that the endless memes were funny.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino apparently decided to make sure Rubio never forgot the viral moment.

“Dan Scavino made a whole BOARD for me, and he’s updated it with all the different pictures,” Rubio revealed…

Below are some of the memes:

WSB

These are a rip.

Valerie Curren

Yes. How are you doing now that your Dear Husband is with the Lord? My hubby & I were just reminiscing about my dad who’s homegoing wasn’t quite 2 months ago yet. God be with You, precious one…

WSB

Thank you for your concern. How are you doing?

My life has been a horrifically perpetual roller coaster, yet I try to trudge on each day.

It’s all we can really do.

May God bless you both.

Valerie Curren

I’m sorry you are still in the long slog phase…God give you comfort, favor, grace strength, hope, & joy even in the midst of sorrows.

The grief is complex as my mom died less than 13 months before Dad. In the interim my 4th grandchild was miscarried at my dad’s Cottage during his last visit there. We were able to place a memorial stone for this lost little one on the property during our family vacation up there a couple weeks ago.

I’ve been overwhelmed by multiple aspects of how my dad’s estate is being handled by my little brother who is the Executor/Trustee. We are hopeful of acquiring both the Cottage & a hunting cabin from the Estate as neither of my brothers have interest in either property.

My dad’s house, the only family home we’ve known, as my parents moved in when pregnant with me & I’m the eldest, was just put on the market after an Estate Sale of the contents that happened while my family was out of town. Things are complicated & the upheaval regarding “stuff” has made just focussing on our overlapping grief challenging. It’s different than when Mom died last year since now everything my parents owned has to be addressed too & my bro/SIL are arbitrarily setting Extremely Unreasonable deadlines…sigh…

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/19036-Outer-Dr-Dearborn-MI-48128/160166131_zpid/

I had a meeting w/ an Estate Attorney Monday morning & my oldest son was able to attend with me. She presented an approach that provides me with a measure of hope that we will ultimately be able to acquire the 2 desired properties. I was dreading my little bro selling the Cottage out from under us because of the unrestrained power he has in his Executor/Trustee role & how brutal multiple aspects of the recent journey, since around Easter when Dad got ill & ultimately stayed in little bro’s lakeside home up until his death have been on all of us in numerous ways.

God is helping us get through but it’s definitely fits & starts. My parents are the only grandparents our kids ever knew as hubby was an orphan even before we met in our 20s. But none of this comes close to dealing with the death of a spouse, which also complicated the last year of my dad’s life. There was so much business to address getting Mom’s death certificate to all the needed places. I think it really overwhelmed him a lot but those issues were discussed w/ my bro & SIL as he was the one trained to help Dad in business affairs. I hope you have people helping you handle all the details that must be challenging & painful, magnifying your loss 💔

I wish I could just give you a hug…

cthulhu

It is so good to see you, WSB, however briefly. May your roller coaster provide more times to visit with us amongst the drops, spins, and loop-de-loops.

And also remember that we support you in our hearts throughout it all.

pgroup

Just saying hi. Nice to hear/read from you.

WSB

Likewise. I hope you are well!

Valerie Curren

That video was interesting. It made me wonder a bit about “genetic genealogy” & how they come up with how closely related 2 people might be per DNA comparisons. I think it is still a developing field so I would guess that answers aren’t fully fleshed out yet.

Here’s an older article I found searching a blog I like that seems to touch on this 🙂

https://dna-explained.com/2015/01/02/how-phasing-works-and-determining-ibd-versus-ibs-matches/

comment image

In this case, as you can see, Joe does not match my parents. Because my matches to both Mary on my mother’s side and Myrtle on my father’s side are IBD, Joe also does NOT match Mary or Myrtle.

This is the underlying foundation of why we use triangulation and can say that if three people with a known ancestor all match each other, we can map that segment as IBD, identical by descent, from that known ancestor.

In fact, the definition of a proven ancestral “match” in genetic genealogy is when:

  • Two or more people match you on a particular segment
  • Those people also match each other on the same segment

This is true whether or not you’ve been able to identify the ancestor responsible for those shared segments.

Aubergine

I have a bit of experience with this with my Native American ancestry. A genetic genealogist I worked with on it has done an amazing amount of work matching up people this way. It’s how we figured out my NA ancestry.

Valerie Curren

Very Cool. Were they able to nail down what tribe(s) you descend from or is it more like having indicators of Oriental/Asian ancestry (like I’ve seen on Finding Your Roots when they give percentages of the subject’s origins geographically)? Did they actually link you to a specific Native ancestor even?

Aubergine

I have a 7th gg-father, Sandifer Keziah, who was half Tuscarora. He is very well-researched:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Kesiah-2

One of his researchers is a Tuscarora tribe member. She found a genetic marker that is found in every descendant of his, his brother, and a couple of other siblings. She has an enormous spreadsheet of the descendants with the marker.

I found a previously unknown daughter of his, Winney. Her name was transcribed backwards as “Keziah Winney” by whomever transcribed the 1790 census, and her last name was spelled “Lorah” on the 1800 census. But on both censuses she was living on land that Sandifer was granted for military service in the Revolutionary War. He also served in the French and Indian War.

Anyway, during my research I found the Tuscarora tribe member who was one of his researchers on Wikitree. She convinced me to take a DNA test (I didn’t want to take just a random “who do you match” test, ever, so I was resistant) to see if I had the genetic marker. As you might imagine, actual birth, marriage, or other records proving descent are scarce with NA’s.

Turned out I have the marker, thus showing I was correct.

pgroup

Keep that marker info away from Fauxi.

  :wpds_shock:

Aubergine

I hate to break it to everyone, but if the government wants your DNA, they already have it. Either through hospitals or doctors or through the millions of people, some of whom are closely enough related to you that it makes no difference.

DNA from websites has already been used to solve crimes. And it wasn’t the criminal’s DNA; it was relatives.

That horse has left the barn.

Holy moly, the price of spinning rust is just insane!

I was buying 6T WD Blue drives for about $140 last year, and even bought a 22T Seagate drive for about $240. These are about $400 and $900 now.

Valerie Curren

Do you mind translating this a bit for this cheap seats old gray mare? :wpds_shock:

Scott467

Methinks he is referring to old mechanical hard drives.

6T would be six terabytes, WD would be the brand (Western Digital), Blue must be the model. The 22T (22 terabyte) Seagate is another brand.

Last edited 1 day ago by scott467
Valerie Curren

If you see his reply it (sort of) seems so 😉

cthulhu

A WD Blue is a normal desktop drive put out by Western Digital. It serves as a reference point, like “West Texas Intermediate” for barrels of oil. WD also makes red, gold, purple, and black drives (and perhaps others), but they are not the regular normal drive.

6T is a capacity indication. Back in the day, Windows machines could not exceed 2 terabytes per drive, so you had to limit the capacity of the hardware so that it could be read. A P is 1000 T’s; a T is 1000 G’s; a G is 1000 M’s; an M is 1000 K’s. Linux comfortably handles P’s. Storage use is very dependent on what you have got on there. If you’ve got your music collection, that’s on CD’s that are about 700 M each — A 7T drive could hold more than 10,000 CDs. If you’ve got your video collection, that’s on DVDs that hold about 5G each — meaning that a 5T drive can hold about 1000 DVDs. Back in the early days, when word processors held text with some formatting characters, the rule was 2K per page. A single photograph is typically about 1.1M.

cthulhu

My music player says I currently have 2651 albums loaded.

scott467

Hopefully you have the computer hooked up to something like vintage McIntosh mono tube amps and a pair of JBL L100 3-way speakers (like in the old Maxell tape commercial).

I couldn’t find any vintage McIntosh, so these current models will have to do.

But then he wouldn’t be anonymously eclecticly genius!

Scott467

Aren’t solid state hard drives cheaper, faster, quieter and more reliable? Essentially better in every way?

cthulhu

SSDs are faster, quieter, and more reliable against physical damage. They are significantly more expensive and more fragile to logical damage. If your computer only has one drive, it’s best if it’s an SSD.

pgroup

Disagree.

Rust drives give warning of failure.

Solid state drives do not.

Or so I’ve been told by lots of ‘puter people.

scott467

There was not enough room for spinning rust in my fanless PC (about 11″ x 10″ x 2.5″ case with internal copper heat pipes connecting heat sources like the CPU to the inside of the metal case walls, which have radiator fins on the exterior).

So I went with multiple internal SSDs for backups (not too expensive at the time), plus an external SSD. Regular weekly Windows back-up, and then manual back up of critical files (copy and paste).

cthulhu

This is true, but it assumes you don’t have a problem with the main drive of a computer being loud and slow. Rust drives are good for backup.

pgroup

Loud can be overcome with music.

Slow is irrelevant unless you are trying to go to worp.

pgroup
cthulhu

I don’t know Avolution from a hot rock. That’s why I anchor things to WD Blue.

pgroup

It’s a label. Doesn’t mean it’s made in an Avolution factory [if there is one].

Just like a lot of supermarket house brands are made by the same factory that makes the name brand – just put a different label on it.

By helping house brands, the name brand gets concessions from the house brand, such as product placement in the retail stores, etc.

pgroup

Tightwad!

pgroup

They just want rust to go away and everybody use SSD.

Who is they?

China.

Why does China care?

Rare earths. SSD uses a lot more rare earths than rust does.

SSD gives more trade power for China.

Just days after Prof. Francis Boyle agreed to testify against Bill Gates & Albert Bourla over the deadly COVID mRNA shots… he was FOUND DEAD.

Boyle authored the U.S. Bioweapons Act & called the mRNA injections ‘Bioweapons & Franken-Shots.’

Where does the Pentagon fit into this?…

Just when you thought you’d heard it all, this resurfaced interview with Prof. Francis Boyle—the man who literally WROTE the 1989 Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act—will leave you speechless.

He states on record that both SARS-CoV-2 and the mRNA injections were DARPA-funded offensive bioweapons programs from the start. Gain-of-function? That was the cover story.

According to Boyle, the real goal was always “lethal yet vaccinate-able” population reduction technology. He names names: UNC, Wuhan, Fauci, Daszak, Baric…the whole club.

He goes further—calls the shots “synthetic biological weapons of mass destruction” because they trigger autoimmune carnage, prion-like misfolding & turbo cancers.

Boyle filed lawsuits, begged Congress & warned the world. Just 20 days after agreeing to testify for the prosecution, he was found dead. The same pattern we’ve seen with dozens of doctors & whistleblowers since 2020. Pure coincidence?

If a man who drafted the actual law defining bioweapons says we just lived through the biggest biowarfare attack in history…why isn’t every news channel screaming this from the rooftops?

The most chilling part? Boyle predicted exactly what we’re seeing now: myocarditis, strokes, infertility & cancers exploding in the injected.

He said the spike protein itself is the weapon & the lipid nanoparticles were engineered to cross the blood-brain barrier. This wasn’t a mistake. It was a military-grade kill vector dressed up as “public health.”

It is past time for the new Nuremberg-style trials to begin…

I’m just ignorant enough to wonder if you actually misspelled “optimist” or if I’m missing a deeper message…again! 😉

Valerie Curren

LOL

Aubergine

What if…

Scenario:

The world is under threat from a catastrophe the public remains completely unaware of. It’s not “global warming” or “cooling,” it’s not “aliens.” It’s not WWIII. Not a single person outside of a very select few has any idea. Life goes on.

Even the President is unaware, for a long time. But then, one comes along who finds out. His hands are tied, though, because if the threat became known, utter and complete chaos and mayhem would be the result. There would be no peace anywhere for anyone.

Knowing what the “select few” know, a decision is made. Theater is created by a master showman, a real smash hit worthy of an Oscar. The world population will be reduced over a period of say ten years, and by the time anyone figures out what’s happening, it will be too late to stop it. Anyone who suspects anything will be labeled as a conspiracy nut, or if they have too much credibility, they will be killed. The goal will be accomplished because those who are left won’t have strong enough numbers to cause too much chaos.

Oh, and the ones who are left? They will be the kind who wouldn’t freak out and panic anyway. Because the “cull” took the panicans and the weak, not the skeptical and the strong. The threat will have been averted, and the human population “reset” into a different future.

It makes me want to write a novel.

Valerie Curren

Interesting take & I want to read your novel!!!

Testing. My computer died, have a new (old, but sealed/new) Mac mini in reserve, just getting it set up, but getting logged in to anything is a nightmare. Using barely legible passwords (most out of date) from an emergency back up printed page. Good times… (scott467)

cthulhu

Good luck!!!

My experience is the first five problems are the most difficult, and then you start catching “the mo” and things will go quicker.

cthulhu

If you have a printed page of passwords, you’re doing it wrong.

Never keep your master log of passwords on a computer. Write them by hand.

Scott467

I must have 200 different passwords for the same amount of websites accumulated over the years. There’s no way I can keep track of that and write it down on paper and update it every time some security alert requires me to change my password again.

I know there are password managers, but I’ve never used one.

cthulhu

Password managers in software are merely a way to hand off security information in bulk.

Scott467

Wish I knew what that meant, you guys are in a whole different universe.

The ‘new’ Mac mini (using Monterey OS, apparently) doesn’t work past one DuckDuckGo Ai question. Not sure why, I have 32GB of RAM so that’s not the issue.

I tried Brave search, and nothing happens when I click ‘search’. Nothing.

I tried downloading the Proton VPN app, and Monterey was one of the choices for Mac OS.

Installed the app.

Launched the app.

Tried to sign in to Proton, put email and password in, and it says “This app is no longer supported”. But they let me download it just the same, which was nice.

So I’m just streaking through the Internet, like it’s halftime of the Super Bowl.

Whoop, there I go!

  :wpds_lol: :insane: :wpds_lol:

Gudthots

For $5 you can have a secure and easy to use VPN from Mullvad.net running on whatever devices you want. Works on Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS.

scott467

Thank you Gudthots. I have Proton VPN, just haven’t been able to get it on the Mac mini yet.

When I downloaded Firefox this evening, they have a VPN free trial offer through the end of August (IIRC), so I have that for the time being.

I bookmarked Mullvad.net. Maybe by the time it expires I’ll have a Linux PC with a Windows style OS.

I will say one thing for the Mac mini, so far it is silent, which is very important to me. That was the whole reason I switched to a fanless Windows PC in the first place.

It was also the reason I built my own PC back around 2012.

The Mac minis, both the M4 Mac mini that I had for about a week last year before returning it, and this older model, are the quietest computers I’ve had that have fans in them.

Gudthots

Yes, super quiet.

I’ve found it helps that Brave puts inactive tabs to sleep (less memory used), but lots of tabs can heat the Mac.

There are stands for Mac minis that allow good air flow, I think you might want to figure out which side to put upwards too.

scott467

It would never have occurred to me to turn the Mac mini upside down with the underside fan facing upwards, but that might be better!

The computer doesn’t care either way, it’s just my own right-side up bias that prevented me from even thinking it 😂

If you have a USB mouse and an HDMI monitor, you can get a reasonably competent Linux computer for about $200 — the Raspberry Pi 500.

Scott467

Thank you, I do have both, I’ll research the Raspberry Pi 500 👍

Scott467

I’m connected to the Internet on the Mac mini, but I hooked up my old PC, the giant PC that I built from component parts back around 2011-2012.

6GB of RAM, which was a lot back then. Can hardly believe it booted up. Windows 10 Pro, so if I connect it to the Internet, I may be able to update it to current Windows 10 status, good through October 14, 2026.

Used to be silent, but over time, the fans had to be cranked up higher and higher to keep it cool enough. That was the reason for switching to a fanless PC back around late 2021. The one that finally quit booting up last night.

The old PC has a clear window wall so I can see the internals, including the motherboard temperature digital readout.

It has a Silverstone FT02 computer case, like this:

1L.jpg

IMG_2478.jpg

FT02B-W-Side.jpg

Those are not pics of my own PC, I just found them online to use as examples, but mine is the same model and looks the same. Different internal components, and the bottom case fans are black (never seen white ones before).

It’s a ‘pressurized’ system, draws air in through the bottom, and exhausts hot air through vents in the top of the case.

I see your Eagle head picture, on my screen.

Scott467

I don’t know. I can access my Proton email, but that’s not the one I use as my regular email account.

My yahoo email account just won’t let me in on the Mac mini. I go to the sign in screen, it asks for my email address, I enter it and click “continue”, and it just freezes.

scott467

I may (hopefully) have the dead PC fixed tomorrow or Thursday. Found a local repair shop, guy does house calls and thinks he can fix the boot up issue and replace the power supply if it’s bad, charges $75/hour.

I want to do a little more research on his company tonight before I hire him.

I was prepared to take the PC somewhere, it’s small, already have it disconnected, but I’d rather have someone work on it here if that’s an option, than leave it somewhere.

If they work on it here, I know they’re not getting into my passwords or financial stuff, or checking out my extensive collection of thousands of mid-1960s Corvette parts pictures. I mean, who wouldn’t, right?

If I drop it off someplace, there’s no way to know what they’ve done.

They could copy the entire hard drive and then go through my old Corvette parts pictures at their leisure.

scott467

It looks like I could access it via Firefox, so the problem was Safari.

I tried an hour or so ago, it doesn’t freeze up like it did with Safari, but I still can’t access my email, because my current pw is on the PC that won’t boot up.

I started the process of resetting the password, and it wanted to send a text code (can’t even find my cell phone, I think I used it one time during a power outage), and then wanted to do something else I couldn’t do.

Then it said something about if I reset the password, I might not be able to access the account for 30 days, and I just walked away, muttering under my breath…

Scott467

Well it recognized me when I posted (my avatar and screen name), but it looks like I have to enter my email and screen name for every post, because I can’t log into the site. Because I can’t access my email account associated with the qtree to get an access code or reset the pw or whatever it was trying to get me to do.

cthulhu

You gained a capital S in Scott. Perhaps that is the problem.

Scott467

The real problem is my old PC will not boot up. I can get to the blue screen where it offers options to restart or troubleshoot, but none of the troubleshooting options worked (for me).

I even tried using a restore point from earlier in the day (must have been auto-saved, because I didn’t manually create one). It went through the process, claimed it was successful, rebooted, and it just won’t complete the boot to get to my Windows log-in screen.

The problem started a few weeks ago, if I just did enough hard reboots, it would eventually work (before). But it’s a pain, so I started using ‘sleep’ instead of turning the PC off at night, and that was working for the last few weeks.

It still shuts off and reboots on its own occasionally, a problem I’ve been having for about a year now, IIRC, which prompted the purchase of a Mac mini at the time, which I returned.

But tonight, when it spontaneously rebooted, it didn’t complete the boot-up process, and I must have done 50 hard reboots with no success.

So I opened the new (old model) Mac mini that I bought a few months ago, in preparation for Windows ending security updates in October, and hooked it up, and that’s what I’m using now.

But all my stuff is on the Windows PC, and I can’t access any of it. So I guess I need to take the PC to a repair shop so someone who knows what they’re doing can either repair Windows or fix whatever the internal problem is that causes the random auto-reboots (probably both problems, now).

Grok thinks it’s an internal power supply issue, which is why running 7 YouTube video channels (12 or 24 hour vacation resort type travel videos) in the background all day keeps (or kept) the PC running, minimizing random reboots to once or twice a day, sometimes less. Without at least 7 YouTube tabs open and playing something, it automatically reboots about every 2 or 3 minutes.

I’ve been living with that for probably about a year now.

Been waiting for the NEW model Mac mini to be released. I don’t want to buy another M4 Mac mini (if I could even find one with 32GB or more RAM) when the brand spankin’ new M5 Mac mini should be out any time now.

The older (new old stock) Mac mini I bought a few months ago (not the M4 I returned last year) was only about $200, it’s an older model (2019 maybe?) but with 32GB of RAM so it won’t get bogged down due to lots of open tabs and several apps.

To troubleshoot/repair anything, it is very helpful to have a Linux system available. Linux has the best tools to copy drives at the hardware level, scrape data off of partially functional drives, evade security, debug the logical arrangement of a drive, etc.

And it’s not horrible to implement, particularly if you have a spare drive hanging around. Pull the computer apart and set the kludged drive aside. Insert the spare drive. Either download a decent Linux or get a Linux magazine off the newsstand with a decent Linux on DVD (current Linux Magazine has Ubuntu Budgie 26.04, which works). Boot Linux. Make sure hardware is working, then install Linux on your spare drive.

You can then use a USB to SATA adapter set (about $30) to see the data on your old drive and look to recovery/troubleshooting.

Scott467

That’s great, but it’s way beyond my level of technical expertise.

I can already tell I’m not going to make it with the Mac. Nothing works like it does in Windows, and Windows is already a nightmare, but it’s a nightmare I can stumble around in and usually get where I want to go.

Not with Mac. Doing even the most basic thing, like trying to find my desktop again after finally finding out how to get online, takes 5 minutes.

I don’t have an extra 5 minutes every time I want to do something that takes me 1 second with Windows.

If I am trapped in freakin’ Windows, then the best solution that occurs to me is two PCs, one for online and one for offline.

There has to be a better solution.

I hate Microflacid with a passion.

I don’t have the time (or apparently the patience) to learn a whole new operating system.

It’s unbelievable how unintuitive everything on Mac OS is. And they use icons for everything, without labeling them. Like I’m supposed to be an Egyptian hieroglyph native reader, or something.

I’m not. Try using English.

This was the second time for me. I’m trying out a different flavor of Linux, but still need to grab a few files from the non-booting system.

I’m not especially fond of it so far either. Seems even worse than the M4 Mac mini I had for about a week before returning it last year.

That’s probably mainly to do with the operating system. The Mac mini (m2, maybe? Could be an M1, not sure how to check, box just says “Mac mini”) is using Monterey operating system.

That is an older OS than the current M4 Mac mini (and soon to be released Mac mini M5) uses.

cthulhu

Specifically, old versions of Safari are as useful as Internet Explorer. Brave is currently maintained.

scott467

Safari is what this Mac mini came with. I didn’t know Safari is the Mac web browser until I clicked on it.

I tried to download Brave for Mac mini last night, it brings up an icon of Brave with a diamond over it (I think), and then shows arrows going back and forth to some other folder with what looks like Hawaiian tiki torch hieroglyphs on it.

No idea what any of this stuff is, and they’re not telling. It’s all very secretive.

I tried dragging the Brave icon to the Tiki folder, I tried clicking on both icons, but nothing happened.

They should call Mac operating system the Gaslight OS.

You have a corrupted harddrive master boot record.

I had this but I didn’t recognize it in time. A recoverable harddrive awaits $3000 with no other purpose. That’s the price to recover the data.

A computer repair shop likely could recover your data for 10% of that price [above]. Take it out to the shop and have them pull the data before the MBR backup copies get corrupted too.

DO NOT TRY TO START THE ‘PUTER USING THAT HARDDRIVE!!!!

scott467

I have important stuff backed up to an external SSD, and there are 3 SSDs in the PC itself. One for the operating system, one for all of my data (word docs, pictures, projects, etc.), and one for Windows back-up every week. I think it does a system image plus who knows what else, adds about 100GB every week.

I think I have weekly backups going back to January. It’s through a utility program called Windows 7 system backup (or similar, I can’t check it at the moment…), no idea why that’s functional in Windows 10 Pro, but that’s how I set it up when the PC was new.

I just changed the ‘S’ to a ‘s’ in the box below the post that is auto-filled every time I post, with my screen name and email address.

We’ll see if it works.

scott467

Herein lies the problem.

I can’t log in at the top of the comments section like normal, because my password sheet (that was folded up in my wallet for the last number of years and is barely readable) has one of my OLD Qtree passwords on it.

Probably 7 or 8 changed passwords ago.

So I would normally click “forgot password” to get a new temporary password emailed to me, but the email associated with Qtree is the email that I can’t access on the Mac mini.

So the best I can do is (essentially) log in for each individual post, like I’ve been doing. It auto-fills my screen name (now corrected to a lower case ‘s’) and email address, and lets me post that way, but I’m not logged in to the website, I don’t have the bell thing at the top RH corner or the drop down list showing recent replies to mark ‘read’ or ‘unread’, etc.

I keep a 3-ring binder with passwords. There is a form that I use to document them.

The form has the following fields:

  • Device/URL
  • Login
  • Roles [boxes] ssh/sudo/phys
  • Password
  • 2nd Factor
  • External Code
  • Notes [3 lines]
  • v. 1.3

When I run out of 1.3’s, v. 1.4 will have an effective date field.

I build my forms in spreadsheets, ’cause you can make the boxes big enough for human writing.

I’d hate to lose all my email accounts…..the ones that point to my actual name and the ones that don’t. I’d hate to lose my financial access and my privacy. So I have to keep things organized, on paper, so I know the limits of my security.

Firefly

Good to do! I was storing my passwords on Firefox — about 20 of them — when suddenly, out of the blue — poof! — they’re all gone!

Now I print them out. (They disappear every two weeks now.)

There is a story about Babylon 5, the series, and its showrunner J. Michael Straczynski .

Before production even started, he had produced an outline of five years of episodes. After the series was first renewed, it occurred to people that it would be extremely valuable to know if a particular character was going to develop, fade away, become a leading role, or not survive the coming season. So they broke into Straczynski’s office to sneak a peak at this outline. Snooped every disk drive, computer, phone, and other electronics. Never found it.

Because it was in a beat-up three-ring binder on a shelf on the wall behind his chair. As Johnny Mnemonic says, “I put the shotgun in an Adidas bag and padded it out with four pairs of tennis socks, not my style at all, but that was what I was aiming for. If they think you’re crude, go technical; if they think you’re technical, go crude. I’m a very technical boy. So I decided to get as crude as possible. These days, though, you have to be pretty technical before you can even aspire to crudeness. I’d had to turn both those twelve-gauge shells from brass stock, on a lathe, and then load them myself; I’d had to dig up an old microfiche with instructions for hand-loading cartridges; I’d had to build a lever-action press to seat the primers – all very tricky. But I knew they’d work.

Professor Thomas Seyfried: “Mebendazole, Fenbendazole [I did] a deep dive research on it and said, why do antiparasitic drugs work against cancer cells, and it turns out that parasites use phosphorylation at the level of mitochondrial substrate in the tissue… and mebendazole and fenbendazole kill these parasites. So I tested it on the cancer cell and, of course, it attacks the mitochondrial substrate and glycolysis”…
Parasites rely on EXACTLY the same dysfunctional energy pathway as cancer cells and these drugs don’t care that cancer isn’t a parasite…
“So now we have a mechanism for why antiparasitic drugs are working, but cancer isn’t a parasite”…

Just over six years ago, I found something unusual in the data for the closest match to the pandemic virus SARS-CoV-2.

Soon after the pandemic began, the Wuhan Institute of Virology published RaTG13, having previously called it BtCoV/4991 in a short sequence published pre-pandemic.

Strangely, 6/33 published reads of RaTG13 were labeled “7896”, the name of a different betacoronavirus kept in the Wuhan lab.

Why would the lab, known for splicing different viruses together, name part of one virus after another?

Naturally, I wondered if RaTG13 was actually a composite virus of the original BtCoV/4991 and 7896.

I shared the finding in the Drastic group chat and we investigated it, with @franciscodeasis
then publicly alerting @Ayjchan
to the dates in the amplicon sequences, who then mapped out the lab’s work progress with RaTG13 before the pandemic.

The Wuhan lab has since released a virus they claimed to be the original 7896. The parts of RaTG13 labeled 7896 are a close match to the published 7896 virus, but not quite it.

So what did they publish? Another virus? Another composite?

Splicing viruses together and then testing how well the composite viruses bind to human cells was exactly what the lab did (See this summary from 2021: https://
zenodo.org/records/217049
10
).

But the 7896 parts of RaTG13 may not be from a different virus spliced together. If we take them at face value, the lab appears to have been using 7896 as part of the sequencing process, a sort of reference point to amplify and see what they were looking at in RaTG13. According to the lab, they started using new sequencing equipment in 2018 so would not have had to do that any more, but these were dated June 2017.

The six RaTG13 7896 sequences cover the area around the RdRp and are labeled 1, 2 and 4. The area which would have been 3 is where the already published short BtCoV/4991 RdRp sequence should be, so it looks like they started with that then expanded coverage using parts of what they already had from 7896.

This tells us about their pre-pandemic workstream. As some of the published RdRp sequences of the group of viruses including 7896 are identical, the Wuhan lab must have had longer sequences from them to be able to tell them apart.

It tells us that the lab was working on some of the most similar viruses to the pandemic one as a group before the pandemic, using parts of their research into one to inform research into another.

And why were they doing this work in the run up to the pandemic?

The latest date in the RaTG13 amplicon sequences was only 11 weeks before a project testing human ACE2 receptor binding of two novel bat SARS-related coronaviruses was due to begin in January 2019. Was the work in preparation for that?

We elected Donald Trump to dismantle the Deep State, confront the globalist power structure, restore American sovereignty, and pull this country back from the edge.

Now that he is actually attempting to do it, many of the same people who demanded action are furious because the process does not look the way they imagined.

They wanted a revolution without disruption.

A war against entrenched power without casualties, consequences, deception, pressure, negotiation, or uncomfortable alliances.

They wanted the Deep State dismantled—but without touching the institutions it controls.

They wanted the globalist empire defeated—but without confronting the economic, military, and geopolitical systems that sustain it.

They wanted America restored—but without enduring the turbulence required to reverse decades of corruption, dependency, and decline.

In other words, they wanted demolition without dust.

This does not mean Trump is beyond criticism. No leader should be. A constitutional republic depends on citizens who question power—not worship it.

But there is a difference between critically evaluating strategy and abandoning the mission because the battlefield does not resemble the fantasy you constructed in your head.

You cannot ask someone to dismantle a deeply entrenched system and then become outraged when he uses power against it. You cannot demand that an empire be broken while insisting every move remain clean, comfortable, transparent, and immediately understandable.

The people attacking Trump now should ask themselves an honest question:

Did you truly want the system dismantled—or did you merely want the emotional satisfaction of hearing someone promise it?

Because if you asked for a wrecking ball, you do not get to act surprised when the building begins to shake.

He has about 50 beads. They were painted the week after the campout by the assistant scoutmaster & represented the weather conditions thay camped though. Burnt orange was temps over 100*, white dots was snow, & other representations he didn’t mention. The campers would be given a bead at the meeting following their campout. He was in Scouts about 5 years & made Eagle. I think his camping, hunting, hiking, & backpacking pursuits grew out of that foundational Scouting shaping. Playing the long game in hunting where our hunting camp is in Northern Michigan is also part of this as there is Rarely instant gratification in that environment, at least not for our family. When any of them actually bag their quarry, not just shoot & lose it despite hours of tracking, it is really a big deal.

One of the things I “appropriated” from my dad’s house was his “Shack book”, a record of the dealings of the hunting camp, which was only The Shack until Dad & his hunting buddy acquired the neighboring “Luzerne Hilton” (the one I’m trying to get from Dad’s estate). I’ve only cursorily looked at the “Book” yet but it has info on each deer acquired over the years, finances (who paid & how much, so you can kind of reconstitute hunting camp adventures), & who knows what kind of history. There were even some photos tucked between the pages. At some point in time we will sit down & look through this family history record & they can re-live & re-tell the stories that have become legendary lore–can’t wait.

Hardship & overcoming challenges, like in Scouting, helps bake in character!

So does Hubby…some where! Did you make Eagle too?

Yep, my son is an Eagle Scout and learned many hard lessons. Of coure there is the Boy Scout Rule about dropping food on the ground: if it’s under 30 seconds, eat it, it’s OK. 😎

Prions are misfolded normal proteins that can cause other normal proteins to misfold. They act something like a catalyst.

Common diseases caused by prions include scrapie (in sheep), Chronic Wasting Disease (in deer and elk),mad cow disease (in cows), and vCJd (variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (in humans).

This misfolded protein is generally found in nerve tissue, and is highly resistant to being degraded through normal processing. High heat and chemicals sufficient to sterilize other pathogens are ignored.

Lean Finely-Textured Beef extracts protein from within joints and connective tissue, which increases the risk of nervous tissue contamination in “pink slime” — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_slime . Exposure to heat, ammonia, sodium hydroxide, or other methods are not guaranteed to eliminate the risk.

Considering that clinical symptoms of prion disease can follow exposure by 50 years for kuru, it would be difficult to trace exposure to pink slime in McDonald’s hamburgers to disease some decades later.

Spain’s Ceuta isn’t just a relic of colonial history. It strategically controls the Straits of Gibraltar.
Take control of Ceuta, and you can block access to the Mediterranean.
Someone is playing a long game here, and it’s not Spain.
If the radical Islamists actually controlled and took over the Straits of Gibraltar, it would be disastrous.

When we were preparing to go to Iraq in 2005 we had an Iraqi who had fled Iraq, and ended up in the employ of the CIA briefing us on culture, and Ramadan came up.
One of the senior officers in the auditorium spoke up quickly, and started to say we should not drink, eat, or smoke in front of Iraqis during Ramadan, to respect their culture.
This CIA dude immediately locks eyes with this officer and asks very loudly “WHY?!”
The officer was a little caught off guard, and before he could answer the CIA guy started explaining. “You are American, you are Christian, you DO NOT celebrate Ramadan, and if you don’t carry on as an American during Ramadan it will be seen as weakness.
It reinforces their idea that their god is the only true god, and that all others will bow before Islam
If they don’t offer you a drink when you come to their home, ask for one, during Ramadan!
Make them respect you, or they will attack you more because they see you as weak.
They are asserting their dominance, and if you falter in the slightest they see you as less than them.”
That stuck with me, and it was true.
You could see they didn’t respect the guys who went out of their way to accommodate them, both in the way they acted towards American troops, and in the number of attacks on US Forces in the areas.
Eat, drink, and be Merry, even during Ramadan.
FREEDOM !

Morning Treeps,
I find this wrong, outrageous and alarming, lets make some calls today and get this all ended: The Chinese own 277,336 acres of US Farmland now.
This number should be Zero.
It’s one thing to have the Communist Chinese make our cheap junk, it’s quite another to allow them to totally infiltrate our country, become large scale land owners, go to our schools and just totally create lives and businesses here in the US.
We’re being naive and ridiculous and it’s destroying us.
I plan on getting on the phone today with the people in the states trying to do something about this -and I suggest we all do.
Senator Urges National Security Review Of Chinese Solar Company’s Planned Use Of Facility Near US Military Base In Ohio
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/senator-urges-national-security-review-chinese-solar-companys-planned-use-facility#comment-stream
From the article:
Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) has asked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to carry out a national security review of a Chinese solar company’s potential use of a facility located near a major U.S. military base in Dayton, Ohio.
Moreno, who serves on the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, sent a July 31 letter to Bessent, expressing his concerns about a pending real estate transaction involving SolarSpace Technology, a China-based manufacturer of photovoltaic cells and modules.
“It is my understanding that SolarSpace intends to lease or purchase a facility located at 2555 Woodman Drive, Kettering, Ohio, which is approximately 13 miles from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base,” Moreno wrote.
“The Chinese Communist Party is never allowed to purchase or lease land near our military installations.”
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is home to the Air Force Materiel Command, the Air Force Research Laboratory, and the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, employing more than 38,000 military personnel, civilians, and contractors.
—–
So the first problem I see here is that as the Senator is pointing out: they aren’t supposed to be doing this and yet they are, so doesn’t this say all we need to know? The do whatever the hell they can get away with doing, this is who they are and this is who we’ve got here in our country, THIS Is Communists!!
This is the problem, they aren’t law abiding, they certainly are not pro-American and for us in any way shape or form.
They are invading our country by buying it, by buying whatever they want and need and shame on the people doing business with them.

How Islam Just Conquered a Major U.S. City
The Islamic call to prayer – the Adhan – now blasts across Minneapolis five times a day on public loudspeakers.
Even at 3:30 a.m.
This didn’t happen overnight.
It began in Dearborn (1981), spread to Hamtramck (2004), then Paterson, NJ (2020).
Minneapolis just made it law.
This is not “religious freedom.”
The Adhan publicly declares every other faith false. It is a proclamation of Islamic supremacy, now written into city ordinance.
Behind it: CAIR’s Jelani Hussain, Keith Ellison’s son, three Muslim city council members who rewrote the rules, and a left-wing mayor working alongside them.
From Little Mogadishu to City Hall – Minneapolis has been transformed.
This precedent will spread. Town by town, city by city, the same pattern repeats until the Adhan echoes coast to coast.
This is civilization jihad – the Muslim Brotherhood’s blueprint to subvert America from within, using our own laws against us.
Left-wing politicians enable it.
Conservatives leaders stay silent.
It ends when Americans stand up.
Call your leaders.
Demand legislation that stops this noise jihad – before it’s too late.

HOW is that possible and WHY are we as a nation and electorate SO STUPID?
We PLAY along as if nothing is wrong.

I would like for “jwmson” to provide a link showing that the Senate voted on SAVE yesterday, or even recently. I’ve seen no evidence of it.

He/she references “this crap.”

We can NEVER be a country and nation of laws and following the Constitution when we ALLOW this crap.

The problems are the worst in CA and NY. IMAGINE THAT.

“The study says New York and California have some of the biggest problems, finding up to 62% of people enrolled in California are not eligible. And the states might not even be incentivized to fix the issue.”

“This study says some of those people actually make too much money to qualify for this Medicaid expansion program and others are getting these benefits, even though they’re here in the country illegally!”

The entire system has to be gutted! Purge the rolls!

Aubergine

This is the most ridiculous thing you will ever read, and it is all true. I checked, because it was so unbelievable. It’s like “Catch Me If You Can,” the DEI version:

“If The Onion or Babylon Bee or another satirical publication wanted to spoof the absurdity of DEI — the ideology of “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” — they couldn’t have invented a character as unbelievable as Jason Arday.

But Arday is very real: Born in 1985, in 2023 he became at 37 the youngest black man ever to hold a professorship at Cambridge University.

Naturally, he had to overcome great adversity to do so — indeed, superhumanly great adversity.

Arday, the son of Ghanaian immigrants to London, is not only black; he’s autistic and was nonverbal until the age of 11, according to glowing media profiles he’s received.
He’s epileptic, too, he claims — yet that didn’t stop him from “running 30 marathons in just 35 days,” as told in Britain’s Independent newspaper.

That would sound farfetched coming from someone else, but Arday is apparently as exceptional in body as he is in mind:

In a 2021 blog post on the “International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination,” the University of Bath presented Arday as claiming that he’d played both soccer and snooker (kind of like billiards) at a professional level as a child — though on July 30, the university amended the transcript of Arday’s conversation to say he’d only played soccer “semi professionally” and was “really good” but “not good enough to be professional” at snooker.

Never mind — he has so many other claims to fame that correcting that legend takes little away.”

Man is tased at a gas pump and catches on fire after calling a Fish and Wildlife officer an a*shole.

Clarence Coyl and a friend went to the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge and drove through an open gate.

Fish and Wildlife officer P. Nielsen saw Coyl and ordered them to leave the refuge.

Coyl proceeded to leave but was followed by Nielsen to a gas station about 20 miles away, and Nielsen demanded to see Coyl’s identification when he came out of the gas station.

Nielsen then pulled out his taser and threatened to arrest Coyl; he responded by saying, “A misdemeanor? A misdemeanor, a*shole.”

Nielsen then tased Coyl, and he caught on fire because of the gasoline being pumped into his truck.

“I thought I was gonna die… Believe it or not, I went into instinct to stop, drop, and roll.”

Coyl received first- and second-degree burns on his hands, and the incident has led to nightmares and trauma when he is near gas stations.

The Department of the Interior, which oversees the Fish and Wildlife Service, said, “A taser was deployed during this incident. Consistent with DOI policy, all such deployments undergo review, and we are unable to comment further while that process is ongoing.”

FTA “A heroic civilian who returned fire at a shooter who killed three people and injured seven more in Idaho recounted the gunman’s cowardly reaction when he realized he was also being shot at.Jordan Salinas, 35, was headed out for a horseback riding date with his girlfriend on Saturday afternoon when he pulled into a recently opened In-N-Out parking lot in Twin Falls around the same time Chad Williams, 24, opened fire on innocent people with an AK-style rifle, police said.Salinas immediately saw people running for their lives before realizing that a gunman was to blame for the chaos, he recalled to the Idaho Statesman. An ‘automatic’ and ‘mechanical’ response quickly set in for him, as Salinas ran toward the danger after reaching for his shoulder holster and pulling out a semi-automatic pistol on Williams.

On Sunday evening, Salinas took to Facebook to talk about the previous ‘overwhelming’ 24 hours. ‘I want to sincerely thank my family, friends, and everyone who has reached out with messages, prayers, and support… they mean more to me than I can put into words,’ he said. ‘My heart remains with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by yesterday’s tragedy. Thank you for continuing to keep them in your thoughts and prayers,’ Salinas continued. He further recalled to the Idaho Statesman that the shooter ‘did not like when bullets started firing both ways.’”

Praise the Lord for our God given 2nd Amendment right to bear arms! Jordan Salinas was very brave to pull his gun and confront the shooter!!!

EACH DAY WE TAKE UP THE OFFENSIVE WEAPON OF THE WORD OF GOD – THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – ONE VERSE OPENS THE DOOR TO THE CONTEXT OF THE CHAPTER MESSAGE

Verse of the Day for Tuesday, August 4, 2026

“For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.”

Matthew 18:11 (KJV)

COMMENTARY FOR MATTHEW 18

The importance of humility. (1-6) Caution against offences. (7-14) The removal of offences. (15-20) Conduct towards brethren, The parable of the unmerciful servant. (21-35)

1-6 Christ spoke many words of his sufferings, but only one of his glory; yet the disciples fasten upon that, and overlook the others. Many love to hear and speak of privileges and glory, who are willing to pass by the thoughts of work and trouble. Our Lord set a little child before them, solemnly assuring them, that unless they were converted and made like little children, they could not enter his kingdom. Children, when very young, do not desire authority, do not regard outward distinctions, are free from malice, are teachable, and willingly dependent on their parents. It is true that they soon begin to show other dispositions, and other ideas are taught them at an early age; but these are marks of childhood, and render them proper emblems of the lowly minds of true Christians. Surely we need to be daily renewed in the spirit of our minds, that we may become simple and humble, as little children, and willing to be the least of all. Let us daily study this subject, and examine our own spirits.

7-14 Considering the cunning and malice of Satan, and the weakness and depravity of men’s hearts, it is not possible but that there should be offences. God permits them for wise and holy ends, that those who are sincere, and those who are not, may be made known. Being told before, that there will be seducers, tempters, persecutors, and bad examples, let us stand on our guard. We must, as far as lawfully we may, part with what we cannot keep without being entangled by it in sin. The outward occasions of sin must be avoided. If we live after the flesh, we must die. If we, through the Spirit, mortify the deeds of the body, we shall live. Christ came into the world to save souls, and he will reckon severely with those who hinder the progress of others who are setting their faces heavenward. And shall any of us refuse attention to those whom the Son of God came to seek and to save? A father takes care of all his children, but is particularly tender of the little ones.

15-20 If a professed Christian is wronged by another, he ought not to complain of it to others, as is often done merely upon report, but to go to the offender privately, state the matter kindly, and show him his conduct. This would generally have all the desired effect with a true Christian, and the parties would be reconciled. The principles of these rules may be practised every where, and under all circumstances, though they are too much neglected by all. But how few try the method which Christ has expressly enjoined to all his disciples! In all our proceedings we should seek direction in prayer; we cannot too highly prize the promises of God. Wherever and whenever we meet in the name of Christ, we should consider him as present in the midst of us.

Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

I NEED HEAVENLY HELP

Have you noticed lately, Lord
I am shaky, unhinged, and floored
At what has just happened to me
I am not as sound as I used to be

My steps are labored I cannot sprint
My mind is sharp my muscles splint
My gait is slow and wouldn’t you know
My 100-yard dash it ain’t no mo

When I was young full of energy I was
My prowess in sport impressive it twas
But now I struggle just to keep going
As the years pass by I am slowing

I cannot complain by any measure
My life has taken on brand new treasure
My daily chores are so different now
An about turn they have taken somehow

I contemplate and meditate much more
My prayers are more meaningful than before
My divine appointment has been redefined
With His Divine Will it is much more aligned

Sometimes I need help keeping upright
A cane prevents me from taking flight
A handrail assists in climbing the stairs
Without these aids I could land anywheres

It is manifest madly maturing
How many more years there’s no assuring
But God has made provision for us
No reason to fret or kick up a fuss

He provides us with companions of all sorts
From animals to flowers diamonds and quartz
He turns our attention to things on high
He prompts us to look up into the sky

He sends us smiles and blessings each day
Just not in the ordinary or usual ways
A giggle here and a belly laugh there
From cyber friends on blogs everywhere

So if you are feeling old and less than useful
Remember there is more for you that’s museful
There are babies and kitties and puppies
And there are wokies, pokies and yuppies

There are nitpickers pastors and prophets
There is beauty in nature and soffits
We could be here all day naming the gifts
How marvelously God’s blessing uplifts

Suffice as to say on any given day
There are things that appear to get in the way
There are frustrations/delays we must endure
And many bumps in the road that is for sure

So if you are feeling bumped and bruised
And your body is reeling from being abused
Call on the Angels charged to assist you
And thank God they can never resist you!

**** The 7896 “mystery” element in the SARS-CoV-2 virus appears to be a bat-associated virus that was found in an abandoned copper mine in Yunnan Province, Communist China, in 2012. The 7896 bat coronavirus in this mine infected six workers who were clearing out bat guano from the abandoned mine. Three workers died (a 50% kill rate.) The CCP government subsequently apparently sealed off the abandoned mine, the areas around it, and blocked all efforts from outside researchers and news media to go to the mine. It appears that Dr. Gao Fu (former head of CCP’s CDC); Dr. Zheng-li Shi; and Dr. Peter Daszak (likely among others) covered up the discovery of the 7896 bat coronavirus in this mine, and how lethal it is.

It appears that Dr. Zheng-li Shi (likely among others) removed information regarding the origin and gene sequence of the 7896 bat coronavirus from various “official” reports and presentations.

https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/svg/2620.svg Wuhan Was Preparing Functional Tests on Human-Adapted Bat SARS-Like Viruses

• WIV maintained and cross-referenced longer, unpublished sequences from the full Mojiang/7896-clade sarbecoviruses (beyond the short published RdRp fragments) by mid-2017, treating RaTG13/BtCoV/4991 and the 7896 group as an operationally linked research set rather than isolated natural finds; the 7896-labeled amplicons (covering sequential RdRp regions) indicate primer/reference design drawn from those unpublished longer sequences, enabling expansion of coverage that would otherwise be impossible from the short 4991 fragment alone.

• The June 2017 amplicon work was preparatory scaffolding for the Ben Hu project (“Pathogenicity of 2 new bat SARS-related coronaviruses to transgenic mice expressing human ACE2”) scheduled to start January 2019, meaning the lab was already advancing from sequence reconstruction toward functional human-receptor adaptation and pathogenicity testing of Mojiang-mine viruses only months before the first known COVID-19 cases.

• The published RaTG13 genome is at least partially a lab-reconstructed assembly rather than a pure, unmanipulated natural isolate; the close-but-imperfect match of its 7896-labeled segments to the later-released full Rs7896 genome (plus missing “3” region filled by the prior 4991 short sequence) implies either selective use of intermediate unpublished variants or iterative in-lab assembly that was never fully disclosed.

• WIV’s standard pipeline (previously used to reconstruct infectious SARS-CoV from Shitou-cave fragments and test ACE2 binding) was being applied to the Mojiang viruses in 2017–2018, positioning the next logical experimental step as construction and human-ACE2 testing of SARS-CoV-2-like chimeras from that clade.

• Additional unpublished Mojiang-clade viruses (or sequence variants) existed in the lab’s holdings beyond both RaTG13 and the later-released 7896 genomes; the residual sequence mismatches and the need to distinguish near-identical RdRp fragments imply a larger internal catalog used for comparative work that remains unreleased.

• Sample-handling and sequencing practices for RaTG13 involved non-standard or contaminated material (transcriptome/mating-plug signatures and atypical microbial profiles reported in independent analyses), further indicating that the published “fecal-swab” narrative does not fully capture the laboratory processing that produced the final genome.

That’s nearly half of all the hospices that were enrolled at the peak under Biden, a 47% reduction.

EVENING PRAYERS

Prayer Of Thanksgiving In The Evening

Praise Your holy name Heavenly Father, for granting yet another day in my life and for being with me every step of the way. Thank You for the many blessings that You have provided and the love and fellowship that I have with the friends and family that in Your grace You have placed in my life.

My heart is so thankful for all the many blessings that I enjoy day by day, and today I am once again reminded that Your mercies are new every morning and Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.

Thank You, that I have been brought into Your family and have been made a child of God and a citizen of heaven. Words cannot express my love and devotion to You Lord

I pray that You would watch over me as I rest tonight, and that You would give me a restful night’s sleep so that I may wake up in the morning refreshed in body and spirit and ready to do Your will. Guard all those that I love and may we all grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ in the days that lie ahead. This I ask in His precious name,

Amen.

Prayer Of Reflection On The Past Day

Loving Lord, as the day is coming to an end, I want to thank You for being with me in all that has taken place today. I also want to lay the whole day before You, asking that you would show me if there is anything that I have done to hurt or harm another person unknowingly, or if I have done anything that is displeasing in Your sight, or quenched the work of the Spirit in me, so that I may turn away from such things in the days that lie ahead.

Lord, I desire to do Your will in all things. I pray that You would cleanse me of any wrong thoughts or attitudes that may have surfaced in my heart today. Wash me in Your cleansing flood, I pray.

Thank You, that You are a God who forgives our transgressions when we are willing to confess them to You, knowing that such cleansing before You immediately draws us back into sweet fellowship with Yourself.

Give me a good night’s rest I pray, and may I rest quietly in Your loving arms in the knowledge that in Christ, I am eternally secure, due to Your amazing grace, for which I praise You. In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness

Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.

Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.

As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.

Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.

Even something as simple as a ‘screen search’ (e.g., to search for a word, or my own screen name to check for replies) is a mystery on Mac mini.

A google search returns this gem:

……………
Me: how do I do screen search on Mac Monterey?

Search reply:
Spotlight on your Mac – Apple Supportsupport.apple.com › guide › imac › mac
Click the Spotlight icon at the top right of the screen, then start typing. You can also press the Spotlight key (F4) on your keyboard.
…………….

The ‘spotlight’ icon, eh? I ain’t be gots no Spotlight icon.

Don’t see anything that looks remotely like a ‘spotlight’ hieroglyph anywhere on the screen. Just a download arrow, and upward arrow (for sharing, ’cause we’re all about sharing at Apple), a plus sign (+) to open a new tab, and a Hollywood Squares icon for a tab overview.

The “F4” key on my keyboard does nothing, but that could be because it’s not an apple keyboard, I don’t know.

This is for a simple thing, just trying to search a webpage for a word. Sorry, no can do.

CTRL-F works on Windows… when Windows works.

Interesting… I have two keyboards at the moment, one for the Mac mini, one for my old Windows 10 PC that I took out of storage today, and it actually booted up.

One is my regular keyboard (hooked up to the Mac mini at present), a “daskeyboard”, it’s supposed to have nice ‘click’ keys along with a volume knob. I like the volume knob, very quick and easy compared to multiple steps to pull of the slider volume control for the speakers.

As for the tactile old-style click keys (that I wanted), I can’t really tell. They’re not completely mushy, but not very ‘clickity’ either. Maybe they sent me the wrong keyboard.

The other is an old Logitech (model K120, fwiw), hooked up to the old Windows PC from circa 2012.

Neither has clovers. The Logitech has what I think is supposed to be a windows icon (4 solid squares, the two on the right are slightly larger than the two on the left, giving it a quasi 3D effect) on what I think is the command key, and the daskeyboard has their own company logo on what I think is the command key, the key just outboard of the “alt” key that is located on both sides of the space bar.

I pressed it with “F”, and the search box appeared. Very tiny, I almost missed it, but it’s there. Amazing! Google simply couldn’t or wouldn’t tell me that.

Thank you!

[DS] Revealed Part Of Their Information Blackout Plan, Mainstream Prior To Evidence Drop – Ep. 3963

The D’s want higher taxes and try to convince the people that it is needed. Taxes were introduced because of the [CB], remove the [CB] this problem goes away. The increase costs are due to cumulative inflation for the most part, illegals and higher energy costs do play a roll, remove the [CB], inflation disappears. Milei begins the process of restructuring the [CB]. The [DS] has now begun the narrative of a cyber attack. They have also tested part of their plan for a communication blackout. Trump is showing the people first. The narrative of fraud, money laundering, election rigging and the covid hoax need to go mainstream first. Once the people digest this information the evidence can be produced and the people will accept it. Drip, drip then flood.

“The D’s want higher taxes and try to convince the people that it is needed.”

_______

Nobody believes them. Not about taxes, or anything else. Blue state criminal governments will raise taxes to 500% and then promise more.

Red states have guns.

Guns are literally the difference between slavery and freedom. If you have guns, the political-class can’t destroy you. If you don’t have guns, the political-class can destroy you, and they will.

That’s about it.

If Americans didn’t have guns, we would already be like eurolandia.

Ahead of Trump’s SoCal visit, heavily armed Downey man arrested at Trump Golf Course

armed man, said to be monitoring “security-planning activities,” was arrested Sunday with a cache of weapons and body armor outside Trump National Golf Course — just two days before the president’s visit.

Jeanine John Taele, 38, from Downey, California, was taken into custody outside the Rancho Palos Verdes site by plainclothes FBI agents after they spotted his suspicious activity.

They found him with an illegally modified AR platform rifle, two radio signal devices, a 1911 .45 caliber pistol, an AR platform upper receiver, body armor, high-capacity magazines, bulk pistol and rifle ammunition, and multiple notebooks containing concerning statements.

It’s Marica’s birthday today. I was going to wish her a happy birthday at her blog, but I couldn’t find it last night.

I almost couldn’t find the Qtree on this fancy Mac mini last night, Google doesn’t want anyone to know about this little nape of the woods, neck of the wape…

Now that I have the page search function back, I found Marica’s link on the right hand side of the blog here.

scott467

Amazing. I can’t like the thread over at Marica’s (usually I can, at least with a Windows PC).

I see no text box to write in at the top of her blog, so I tried to reply to someone else’s post.

It brings up a reply dialog box, but I can’t get a cursor to appear in the dialog box so I can type a reply.

As far as I can tell (I word-searched ‘birthday’ and ‘happy’), no one at Marica’s blog has wished her a happy birthday yet.

So either my calendar is fibbin’, or somebody from the Q tree (Mac won’t let me write “the Q tree” as all one word, it insists on changing it to ‘theater’…) can be the first.

If anyone does, please tell her I said happy birthday too 👍

I can’t post there until my computer is fixed.

ABSTRACT Compelling evidence shows that SARS-CoV-2 and SARSCoV-2 modified mRNA biologics/vaccines are products of gain-of-function (GOF) research, with genomic features and vaccine outcomes that suggest deliberate engineering rather than natural evolution. Far from benign, these vaccines have unleashed profound harm, disrupting nearly every system of the human body and contributing to unprecedented levels of morbidity and mortality. From autoimmune diseases and cardiovascular catastrophes to pregnancy complications and aggressive cancers, the pattern of systemic toxicity cannot be dismissed as coincidental. Urgent scrutiny and accountability are needed.

A sheepdog stepped in and helped first responders with a helicopter rescue during an emergency in Laguna Beach, California. The Laguna Beach Police Department and the Laguna Beach Fire Department personnel responded to an emergency on Friday in the foothills, the department said in a social media post. While first responders on the ground tried to clear the trail so a helicopter could land, the little white sheepdog, who was in charge of a herd of goats that were in the way, corralled the livestock to the side, the New York Post reported. “The sheepdog stepped up and helped guide a group of goats out of the way so the units could work,” the department said. “That’s a good boy.” The department posted drone footage of the dog running ahead of the goats and guiding them out of the way of the helicopter so it could land. The end of the video shows a close-up shot of the pup running to the top of the hill with his tail wagging and dozens of goats behind him.

Firefox now. Brave won’t play nice with Mac Gaslight OS.

scott467

The part of the box that slides off to reveal the contents (like a slip cover that comes on some blu-ray movie discs) says ©2018 in tiny print on the back.

The 2-page booklet in the box says ©2020 in tiny print on the back.

The 1-page Mac mini safety warnings, limited warranty, software license agreement says ©2021.

“About this Mac” (hidden under the apple logo in the upper LH corner of the screen) says:

………………………….
MacOS Monterey
Mac mini (2018)
Processor: 3.2 GHz 6-core Intel Core i7
Memory: 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Startup Disk Macintosh HD
Graphics Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB
………………………….

The Mac mini itself is dark gray (not bright silver) in color, which I think all of the Intel processor based Mac minis are.

It was sold as new old stock (not refurbished), on Amazon. It was sealed in cellophane and the contents (which weren’t much!) all appeared new.

Which doesn’t explain how a document dated 2021 got inside an outer slipcase dated 2018, or the ‘About this Mac’ date of 2018.

Something odd happened.

The bookmarks I had been saving in Firefox, which were appearing as tiny icons across the top of the page (below the address bar) all disappeared.

Everything else looks the same.

Then I looked up at the upper LH corner, where it used to say Firefox (to the right of the Apple logo), and it said FINDERS.

I started typing this reply, and looked at it again, and now it says FIREFOX again, but the bookmarks have not reappeared.

‘Finder’ is the first icon at the bottom of my Mac screen, but I don’t know why it replaced (momentarily) the word Firefox at the top of the screen (next to the Apple logo), or why my bookmarks seem to have disappeared.

That’s nuts. I have the Safari open and the Firefox open.

The Firefox is the upper 80% of the screen, and the whole width, and I can see enough of the Safari at the bottom of the screen to click on it with the cursor to switch to Safari.

If I’m reading on Firefox, it shows Firefox in the upper left hand corner, and if I’m reading on Safari, it says Safari on the upper LH corner.

But the Safari has screen margin on either side, it’s not expanded to cover the full width of the desktop, so if I click by accident on the desktop, to either side of Safari and below Firefox, it switches to Safari but it shows “Finders” where it ought to say Safari or Firefox, depending on which browser I’m using.

Only 10,000 eccentricities like this to go before I’m quasi-fluent in Mac-inese!

“Sounds like it may have been a trade-in and/or refurbished.”

_______

It specified that it wasn’t a trade in or refurbished, I think they claimed to be an authorized seller, etc., but who knows.

They had refurbished models, but they were about $70 cheaper. I would look it up on my orders page on Amazon, but I don’t have my current Amazon pw until or unless my old PC gets fixed.

I didn’t want a refurbished computer because I didn’t want to take a chance on getting something with spyware on it, or who knows what else might be lurking on a used hard drive.

So far, whatever version of Firefox I installed seems to be working. It’s amazing how I can’t find any way to get it to show me what model of Firefox I’m using.

Use the “hamburger” menu (three horizontal lines on the far right of the website display), choose “help”, then choose “about”.

scott467

I tried that, when I click “help”, ‘about’ is not one of the choices.

These are the only available options:

………………….
Get help (like I never heard that before… 😂 )
Share ideas and feedback
Troubleshoot Mode
More troubleshooting information
Report deceptive site
Switching to a new device
………………….

I also checked settings, profile, more tools, etc.
