I agree Vance is the most likely nominee, but for different reasons.
Marco Rubio is very smart. So is J.D. Vance. But I guarantee you most average Americans can imagine having J.D. over for a barbecue, but they wouldn’t even think to include Marco.
J.D. is relatable. Marco is not. He’s great, and I would hang out with him. But I am a smart news-wonk. I find Rubio fascinating, not intimidating. But most people are not me.
If Rubio is Vance’s VP pick, I hope when J.D. wins he gives Marco some humanizing, relatable roles to play. Because if he wants to be President, he’ll have to get some of that from somewhere. Trump needs Marco the super-genius, because Trump wants to change the world. But I’d bet Trump knows that people will relate more personally to J.D., which is why he will give him the nod in 2028.
I rather see Marco stay on as Sec of State. He really shines in that role and he is very much needed there.

I don’t know how that number can be right. According to Brave search, there are 46.8 million children under age 10 in America.
400K is basically 1%, 1 out of every hundred.
So any grade school with 100 students should be having one vanish every year.

I wanted to again ask for your prayers for my family. My dad is slipping away from us pretty quickly now, barely eating or drinking & in enough pain that it even hurts to talk.
My bro & SIL have done Amazing work caring for his needs in myriad ways these last weeks & SIL’s nurse mother is also there now providing support & care. Hospice is starting today or tomorrow I think…
Dad is fully prepared to go Home to meet the Lord & see Mom & other loved ones again. He rallies when great grandkids are around & does his best intake at those times. There have been many visitors but some people are pulling back, like a recently widowed prayer group friend who can’t bear to see Dad in that diminished state.
I’m currently Up North w/ my D & GD & awaiting Dad’s sister who is coming later today & leaving Wednesday. I had hoped to remain here into early June when my Aunt returns after a sweeping trip with friends who have promised to spread her ashes across (at least) 3 states when the time comes. Given Dad’s precarious state I’m heading home shortly after my aunt goes so we can visit Dad sooner rather than (too) later.
These are difficult seasons including just having passed the first anniversary of Mom’s passing just a week ago now. My family is in the midst of complicated grief tempered by the joy of knowing a loved one’s eternal destination & that we will all be reunited there someday as we all are under the Blood of Christ Jesus.
I wish I could take the time to read up on what’s happening here in the Best Tree but I have very limited time & energy right now. You guys are in my heart & prayers.

I firmly believe that people in the terminal/moribund state can still hear and even process things until the very end. They’ll hear speech, prayers, music. They want human touch—hand holding, hugging, being kissed. Even if they can’t respond.

Please take care of yourself. This time can be rough on the survivor’s body, mind, and spirit.

This place will always be loaded with generations of memories & we all have to find ways to adjust to the changing times. In 1868, Commander in Chief John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic issued General Order Number 11 designating May 30 as a memorial day “for the purpose of strewing with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village, and hamlet churchyard in the land.”

President Lyndon Johnson proclaimed Waterloo, New York, as the “Birthplace of Memorial Day,” because it began a formal observance on May 5, 1866. However, Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, also claims to have held the first observance, based on an observance dating back to October 1864. Indeed, many other towns also lay claim to being the first to hold an observance.
In 1971, federal law changed the observance of the holiday to the last Monday in May and extended the honor to all soldiers who died in American wars. A few states continue to celebrate Memorial Day on May 30.
Today, national observance of the holiday still takes place at Arlington National Cemetery with the placing of a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the decoration of each grave with a small American flag. I can’t answer the question as to why any American would want to undermine our country. Even a cursory review of the geopolitical scene suggests that America is more free and prosperous than any place on earth. Geopolitically speaking America is the Garden of Eden. It makes no sense beyond the reason that such citizens are mentally impaired or wicked. That is a judgment that I have been reluctant to conclude but, I fear, I am being backed into a corner.

COMMENTARY FOR ACTS 1:8
This book unites the Gospels to the Epistles. It contains many particulars concerning the apostles Peter and Paul, and of the Christian church from the ascension of our Saviour to the arrival of St. Paul at Rome, a space of about thirty years. St. Luke was the writer of this book; he was present at many of the events he relates, and attended Paul to Rome. But the narrative does not afford a complete history of the church during the time to which it refers, nor even of St. Paul’s life. The object of the book has been considered to be, 1. To relate in what manner the gifts of the Holy Spirit were communicated on the day of Pentecost, and the miracles performed by the apostles, to confirm the truth of Christianity, as showing that Christ’s declarations were really fulfilled. 2. To prove the claim of the Gentiles to be admitted into the church of Christ. This is shown by much of the contents of the book. A large portion of the Acts is occupied by the discourses or sermons of various persons, the language and manner of which differ, and all of which will be found according to the persons by whom they were delivered, and the occasions on which they were spoken. It seems that most of these discourses are only the substance of what was actually delivered. 1-5 Our Lord told the disciples the work they were to do. The apostles met together at Jerusalem; Christ having ordered them not to depart thence, but to wait for the pouring out of the Holy Spirit. This would be a baptism by the Holy Ghost, giving them power to work miracles, and enlightening and sanctifying their souls. This confirms the Divine promise, and encourages us to depend upon it, that we have heard it from Christ; for in Him all the promises of God are yea and amen.
6-11 They were earnest in asking about that which their Master never had directed or encouraged them to seek. Our Lord knew that his ascension and the teaching of the Holy Spirit would soon end these expectations, and therefore only gave them a rebuke; but it is a caution to his church in all ages, to take heed of a desire of forbidden knowledge. He had given his disciples instructions for the discharge of their duty, both before his death and since his resurrection, and this knowledge is enough for a Christian. It is enough that He has engaged to give believers strength equal to their trials and services; that under the influence of the Holy Spirit they may, in one way or other, be witnesses for Christ on earth, while in heaven he manages their concerns with perfect wisdom, truth, and love. When we stand gazing and trifling, the thoughts of our Master’s second coming should quicken and awaken us: when we stand gazing and trembling, they should comfort and encourage us. May our expectation of it be stedfast and joyful, giving diligence to be found of him blameless.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

Disarming, disavowing His console!
Freely forgiving the fool heartedness;
Allowing His Love to replace distress;
Remembering love can conquer all;
Without love we are destined to fall!
Love of neighbor begins within you;
Loving yourself is critical, too;
Emotionally even and adept;
Protectively proper the heart is kept!
A heart that is broken can be repaired;
By His suffering and death; Jesus cared;

I’m guessing that, if someone were removed from the voter rolls by mistake, they would not know it until they tried to vote, at which time it might be too late to do anything about it. There are going to be glitches and mistakes in any system, but how many of those would there be vs. 24,000+ non-citizens on the rolls? You either take action and fix whatever problems come up, or you do nothing and allow the disastrous consequences, like elections being stolen.
As a citizen, if you know an upgrade was done, you CHECK and make sure you are still on the rolls.
There are also provisional ballots, at least in NC.
