This DePat Tuesday Open Thread honors the author of the original Tuesday open thread on this site, namely the late Susie Sampson, a.k.a. Deplorable Patriot, among her other handles, pen names, etc.

At one time, DePat handled FOUR daily open threads here, in addition to taking care of her relatives, choir duties, and numerous other responsibilities. She was a powerhouse – a dynamo – a true force of nature.
DePat’s faith in Trump, Q, “The Plan”, the White Hats, and “the anons” in general, was legendary. Although I didn’t always agree with her quick acceptance of some sketchier evidence and fringier theories, I will gladly admit to “coming around” to numerous so-called “conspiracy theories” which she championed first. I was always careful to give her credit for being right, too, when I had been wrong.
It is impossible to overstate how much DePat did for not only this site, but for her country. I urge all to say a quick prayer of thanks, whenever you think of her, for the privilege of knowing, in life or after death, such an exemplary human being, and lover of God.
And thank you, Susie, for the firm foundation which you left us, when you were called to your true home!
Discussion of Authorship and Call for Authors
They say that crisis is opportunity, and they are right.
“Never let a crisis go to waste” – another saying, often attributed to the notorious Demoncrat thug, Rahm Emanuel.
We will pay attention to these adages, but we will try to be “nicer” about our small crisis.
Over the years (soon to be EIGHT on September 18, 2026), we have had authors come and go, especially on the seven “daily” open posts. At various times, some of our authors, like Deplorable Patriot, have handled more than one daily. DePat handled 1, 2, 3 and even 4 dailies (and we joked about giving her 5 – not entirely in jest!)
Right now, I am handling 3, and it feels fairly comfortable. Monday (Wheatie), Tuesday (DePat), and Thursday (Trust The Plan).
Gail, who does Wednesday, is dropping a few additional posts on Thursday, and it’s helpful to us both.
While I could probably just leave things as they are, I feel that it’s useful to give people the opportunity to try their hand at authoring posts here. We have had many pleasant surprises, as our readership has found both enlightenment and entertainment in new authors.
At one time, I would edit and post some articles written by Gail, but what I discovered at that time, is that it was not only too much work for both of us – it was causing me to be an editor again. I say again, because one of the many hats I’ve worn in this life, was that of an editor. I really, really do not like being an editor. I’m good at it, and received much money and approval for my efforts, but I hate it. When Gail finally began posting on her own, I said THANK YOU and NEVER AGAIN on the editing.
Thus, I have no desire to serve as an editor again, and that includes being an editor for those who would like to dip their toes into authorship by handing off articles. Nope. You have to be the person who types it in and hits either SAVE or PUBLISH.
If I open up opportunities for your authorship here, being classified in WordPress as an Author is your minimum contribution. You can produce nothing, or 4 dailies, or anything in between. But you must be your own author – not a shadow author. You will publish under your own username – nobody else’s – no “anonymous”. You can say whatever you want, but you will be responsible for what you say. If you need a more “anonymous” account than the one you already have, then we can work on that.
SO – please let me know if you are interested in being a weekly author on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. You can respond on this post, or by sending a “PMTW” message (see “Contact”).

Here’s a cakewalk I used to play….forty plus years ago.
I wasn’t quite as metronomic as Cory, here.
Do you have an update on your condition (that I might have missed yesterday)?
I hadn’t yet got it particularly organized as a story, so you’re getting a random collection of snippets.
Last night, I was fretting too much to be able to go to sleep….mostly fretting about not getting to sleep. My original plan was to have a shower before bed to make my shower after the alarm faster…..but, as usual, I got so keyed-up that I couldn’t deal with a shower until I was completely ready to conk out. Which leads to the alarm.
The Fiancee runs the bedroom clock on Morning Wasting Time, about 15 minutes off the time the rest of the world uses, so I hit the snooze [her car is on the same time]. I then went in to take my shower.
My hair and my beard are chest-length, which I started growing to defeat COVID mask mandates. I want to photographically document this before I shear it off, because I’m never doing this again. This adds about 20 minutes to the length of a shower. I also tend to have to wash my feet and toes thoroughly while performing a Cirque du Soleil water balancing act, which adds another 15. I can either touch the actual wound or see it, which makes washing it into another 5 minute exercise — so it takes me nearly an hour to shower.
If I don’t organize my hair immediately, it dries into something like Calvin’s from the cartoon. From there, my skin and body hair hold water like a sponge even after toweling off…..so I do a period of air-dry (which The Fiancee and I call “fluffing”) for about 15 minutes before continuing. [As an example of what happens when I don’t do this, bandages don’t stick.]
Post-fluff, I have to find my preselected shirt (reads “It’s Weird Being The Same Age As Old People”.) I also find the ankle socks I borrowed from The Fiancee. Rebandage the wound. After I’m dressed, I look to load my backpack and realize when I’m at the car that I am missing the address of the place to which I am going. Go back inside the house and ruffle through paperwork (the appointment information is written on the back of an envelope). Pull away from my front door 12 minutes behind schedule (9:42).
I make decent time to the facility, dodging traffic tie-ups…..but also getting stuck on some slow bits. Get to the facility…..this is off Grant Road in Mountain View, between North Road and South Road — how bad can this be? I stopped a guy in a golf cart and ask. He tells me there are more facilities south of South Road. I pull in, park, and open the door to the designated suite number where all the lights are out. Stepping inside, an individual pops up from behind a bank of computer monitors. I have arrived at my 10:30 appointment at 10:28.
After a short wait, the first nurse whisks me away down a random corridor. We then settle in and measure vitals, discuss various things off a checklist, arrange instruments of torture on a wheeled tray and exchange pleasantries. Her first name is Marriott, which I bet is far less lucrative as having it as a last name. Her badge identifies her as an RN.
We get another staffperson after a while, she spends a lot of time at the terminal.
After a time, the doctor enters and we talk about some other things. She’s going to do another debridement — which, as it turns out, starts with “debris” and not “here comes debride”, and we discuss for a bit.
[The Fiancee, the quilter, left a straight pin on the floor in the middle of the hallway last night. This helps me in managing my phobias.]
She wants to use a curette to clean the wound. I am skeptical — though I didn’t mention this, “dilation and curettage” (as an abortion procedure) left me with no desire to encounter this implement. As it turns out, the specific implement she wanted to use was like a small spoon the size of a single kernel of corn.
We then went for the endgame.
My entire leg from the top of my calf to the bottom of my foot got covered in a wet plaster-like wrap. This was followed with a couple more applications of bandages that I was to keep dry until THEY take them off next Monday.
In addition, I’m taking another round of Keflex.
Since I can’t take off their bandages, I’m obviously not able to re-apply ichthammol.
And I have a couple of days to contemplate personal cleanliness.
That’s a lot to handle. Kudos.
That’s why I took a nap when I got home.
I can understand that. Josiah & I both needed naps after our huge SSA day. I’m still wiped out & need to husband my strength to work some more on Estate matters before Brandon’s destination wedding this weekend.

when i broke my ankle and my leg, I put my cast/leg in a clean trash bag and duct taped it tight, then showered. it worked for me.
I was thinking of something like that but too chicken to suggest it LOL
it really worked –and I wore that cast for 6 weeks.
Hubby did something similar with his broken arm when the twins were newborns…fun times 🙃

That sounds incredibly high maintenance, so I guess you are a handful, even for yourself 😅 I read parts of the above to Hubby as he was preparing to leave for work & he said that we (you & I) are kind of on the same shelf LOL I totally do the envelope thing too 😉 😉
When The Fiancee and I were doing more international travel, we’d line up all our travel in a manila folder and write all the steps in lines on the outside. We’d use a red pen to key all the documents inside the envelope to events on the envelope.
For example, we’d have the airport shuttle from our house as event #1 with a large red A. Inside, we’d have the shuttle confirmation with a large red A. Event #2 would be drop our baggage, and the baggage tags would be a large red B.
That way, whenever we encountered a step written on the outside of the envelope, we’d know what document to pull from inside.
Sounds a tad OCD, but also practical.

My mom was always a rather staccato style of pianist. I was like that with a typewriter, especially w/ commas & periods.
I had a music major college friend who let me sit in on his piano practice sessions. He had a very fluid flow that was more like how say John Tesh’s music sounds (I don’t know if he plays keyboard) & I Really loved that smoothe style.
What a blessing that you have that special skill set! I took piano for a year & did well at it but didn’t have the passion for it like Mom did. She played from age 4 & also had perfect pitch. I had other interests…so I married a multi-faceted musician instead of really becomming (much of) one myself.

Seeing the churches turn into mosques reminds me of the passage in Deuteronomy 6:10-11, only in reverse. I am looking at that passage from the perspective of the Canaanites being invaded by the Israelites. The important take away is that it was God’s judgment on the Canaanites, to lose their inheritance because of their pagan ways. Later in Israel’s history the same thing happens to them, by the Assyrians and later the Babylonians.
There is probably an element of God’s judgment with America’s present condition. The wicked state of our culture has come under God’s correction. They will live in houses they did not build, and drink from wells they did not dig- sobering thoughts.

I finally used some DMSO based cream on my injured knee/shin area–Hubby’s been bugging me to do so but I was reluctant for a couple reasons. I’ve never used any DMSO product before. I decided to only use my right ring finger to apply the cream because my last (fingertip) joint has had a strange bend in it for a few years. I injured that last joint when in junior high when a car door was slammed on my double mittened hand & the latching mechanism tore out a chunck of my flesh.
It wasn’t until some years back, not sure how long exactly, that I noticed that I couldn’t fully straighten that finger any longer (wondered if there was “arthritis” there?) & there was nearly a 45* angle on just that joint.
Well just one incidental application of the DMSO cream & with effort I can nearly straighten that finger tilting the finger maybe 20* off the vertical. I used to have to go about 40* off the vertical for the same effect.
This makes me quite hopeful that this cream may also help my injured leg AND further heal up that finger joint.

Maybe my leg will manage to withstand the Groom–Mother-of-the-Groom dance just a bit although Nothing can remedy my deplorable dancing skills LOL. Wedding is Sunday 🙃

we had so much fun –we didn’t practice or anything like that–but while we were dancing he whispered…I’m gonna spin you Mom–make it good. So I did–big flourish– very dramatic–we did it a few times during the dance.
How fun! I never got to practice with either of my married sons either. Brandon is a very good dancer. He used to do swing dance outings & got picked to play the very seductive “devil” in a church production where he used dance to try to “entice” the young lady away from the Lord. I doubt even (not dead) Fred Astaire could make me look good on the dance floor, LOL
if you’re worried about the steps in dancing, just let the music move and guide you!

I’ll have to read some more after getting some sleep. I don’t think that is my situation but I did have a nodule or two, at the base of a finger or two when I was HS or college age. IIRC the doctor used a needle w/ a bit of a gripper on the end & pulled out a white glossy sphere mabe the size of a white popcorn kernal the one time I had that issue. It never reoccurred, but it was after the initial injury but not sure if it’s even the same hand or finger.

Huber handed off some of those investigations to Durham, who was also in the public realm and appointed by AG Barr, to look into the framing of Trump for Russian collusion.

That would prepare her for appointment as Attorney General.
Quinones became assistant attorney in Florida in 2018, before Sessions resigned.

Before that he worked as a national security official in the Department of Justice’s National Security Division.
I believe that’s where he was gathering a lot of evidence on the ongoing investigations.
He is also is an active member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
That makes him a “bridge” between the civilian and military investigations.
And here’s something else I don’t think a lot of people know about Jason Quinones.

The U.S. has brokered a deal for the IAEA to remove nuclear material from a clandestine Syrian site known as “Site 99.”

Until there are rules about these long absences and requirements for reporting to the public, this is what we’re stuck with. There are HIPAA laws, employment considerations, etc.
Of course, there is the fact that a Congressman’s constituents deserve answers when he/she is not able to represent them, but apparently there is nothing in place to guarantee that the public will be informed. IMO there should be rules about requirements to report to the public at regular intervals.
But who would enforce such rules, and what would be the consequences for breaking them? That would have to be included, and I’m sure Congress will get right on it. 🙄

Promises to those who seek wisdom. (1-9) The advantages of wisdom. (10-22)1-9 Those who earnestly seek heavenly wisdom, will never complain that they have lost their labour; and the freeness of the gift does not do away the necessity of our diligence, #Joh 6:27|. Let them seek, and they shall find it; let them ask, and it shall be given them. Observe who are thus favoured. They are the righteous, on whom the image of God is renewed, which consists in righteousness. If we depend upon God, and seek to him for wisdom, he will enable us to keep the paths of judgment.

I think it’s time for a recovery update . . . it’s been a lot slower than I thought it might be, although I’m coming up from a really weakened condition. When I got home, I could fairly well exhaust my strength resources just by making a cup of coffee in the kitchen. I couldn’t even tear the foil covering off the Sheba cat food without working at it with 3 or 4 tries. The unsteadiness and nausea caused by the PPI I’m taking was made MUCH worse (but unknown to me at the time) by the very strong effect of the caffeine in coffee on an empty stomach.
Zipping forward to the present . . .
The surgeries appear to have corrected the bowel obstruction problem.
By eliminating medications and food I found out that my morning coffee was causing fairly strong unsteadiness and subsequent nausea in the morning. I’m using decaf coffee now, and not only has the morning unsteadiness and nausea almost completely gone, but the daily PPI seems to be handling the excess acid stomach pain issue rather well . . . very well, indeed.
The 10-inch laparotomy incision is well healed on the surface, but continued tenderness and moderate (not too bad at all) pain in the deeper muscle layers shows I’m still in the healing process, which may last a month or two longer . . . or more.
For the last couple of weeks I’ve been easing into a full body dumbbell and body weight exercise program. Even in this short period of time, I’m seeing strength improvements in the number of repetitions of the exercises that I can complete. I have to hold off on the core abdominals exercises, though, until the deeper ab muscle layers heal.
My body weight has been staying in the 141 – 143 pound range (6 ft tall). When I lost 35 pounds rapidly, a lot of that was muscle. So, I’m not in a hurry to gain weight back, because, if I gain fast, a lot of that will be just plain fat, not muscle. I’m letting the exercise program work (hopefully) so I can primarily gain muscle as I regain weight. I still look like a walking cadaver with my shirt off . . . you really don’t want to see that!
Bottom line . . . I think the recovery is progressing well, but slowly. A very large improvement over my initial condition.

I must admit that this is a rather harrowing report! But the fact that you figured out the cause of the morning symptoms, tells me that you are mentally very strong, and that is extremely key to recovery, IMO!
So is there a diagnosis of too much stomach acid production, or sensitivity to normal levels of production? Please forgive me for asking, but I’m trying to learn more about stomach issues right now, particularly in advising others.

Yes, I’m familiar with this stuff! But I’m always looking for the boundary cases to understand the “lay of the land” in a subject. The question in my mind is this – where are PPIs valid?
I could see them used in a temporary capacity to allow healing but not as a permanent life long medication.
I had nightly acid reflux a couple decades ago. I was told I had to go onto acid reducers. Turns out getting rid of wheat and not eating late at night worked just fine.
Yup. I’m all for natural solutions if possible, and I have avoided PPIs, as has my wife.
I’ve heard that HCl pills can help too, fwiw.
Unfortunately, there is no diagnosis of excess stomach acid production. I’m now shopping for a new Gastro Guy who is interested in finding out the cause or causes and correcting them rather than throwing drugs at the symptoms.

Two things which plague us seniors seem important to me.
FIRST – the loss of natural stomach acidity in seniors. IMO this leads to easy “rocking of the boat” in terms of the gut microbiome. Organisms other than just the handful of things which colonize the stomach (most beneficial, but also Helicobacter pylori) are able to “get through” and upset either the stomach biome or the intestinal biome.
IMO this is where vinegar has been so beneficial in general – in providing therapeutic acidity to the stomach.
SECOND – vitamin B12 – which is absorbed through the gut, both stomach and intestines, and which has huge absorption problems in seniors, just due to aging of the gut. The various problems caused by B12 deficiency include problems of the gut – which can compound the things which cause B12 deficiency itself, creating a bad loop.
Hopefully your new doc will want some understanding of your stomach and your vitamin levels.
I take B12 sublingual (under the tongue) I carry it with me because I have found it stops allergy attacks in their tracks.
For those who might not know, sublingual means it goes directly into the blood system by-passing the gut. I take CBD oil the same way.

Windows 11 looks pretty much like Windows 10, except the icons in the bottom tool bar are centered, which is stupid in my opinion. Some moron thought that would look better, so that’s what we get.

Have you watched any of the yootoob videos about the changes to Windows 11? Apparently they are force integrating Ai and cloud nonsense, so all your data are belong to them now.
And updates, requiring reboot, should be more frequent (just in case you loved the interruptions before, you get more of the good).
And supposedly the advertisements will invade the desktop now, not only if you’re online.
Those are just a few that I recall. They’ve really been listening to their customers, and trying to be responsive.

Scott, I’ve had Windows 11 for months and I haven’t seen any of those changes. It’s pretty simple to turn off the AI. And I haven’t seen any ads. Also, there have been few updates that required a reboot. As far as the cloud backup, you can just turn it off. I really don’t see a huge amount of difference from Windows 10.

I turn off all permissions for pretty much everything during set up. They have to ask if you want “personalized” ads, extra “help” from their “assistant,” and other stuff. I turn it all off.

Aubergine, you can change the taskbar location in Settings. Go to Personalization -> Taskbar -> Taskbar Behaviors -> Taskbar Alignment and change it to Left. That was one of the first things I did when I got my new computer but it took me quite awhile to find it.

SD: “What is surfacing now, five years later, is a stronger understanding of just how the establishment medical complex determined the safety and efficacy protocols of the COVID-19 vaccination. They had theories, they had speculation, they had scientific discussion; but ultimately, they did not know to what extent the vaccine was safe – and statistically it wasn’t safe.
Looking back on recent history, the COVID experience stands out. The lessons from observing the government’s response, and how people reacted to it, have influenced our perspective on many topics related to liberty and freedom.
I turn to faith, read the gospel and recognize in more than a few ways the COVID experience was a generational test.
It is generally accepted that somewhere around 60 to 70% of Americans accepted the COVID vaccine, although a great many of those who took the vaccine did so under tremendous pressure, essentially under duress and without fully informed consent.
There really was no way to apply “informed consent” to the process because the ‘information’ that should have supported the consent was skewed, shaped and in many instances intentionally manipulated. Again, the pressure for compliance to the process was extreme; beyond extreme. I said at the time we had never seen such a pressure campaign on any topic or issue as aggressively oppressive as we endured during two-years of COVID vaccination compliance pressure.
I do not fault anyone who took the vaccine. In fact, I hold great empathy toward those who now live with the hindsight question of their life potentially being shortened. Everyone has been impacted by this medical experiment and the subsequent sociological implications in the aftermath.
A few days ago, a person wanted to discuss Dr Anthony Fauci’s testimony with me. I never bring up the subject of the COVID vaccine; not ever in personal discussion. However, if it is brought up to me, I will engage carefully, honestly and with empathy. I was asked about Fauci taking the fifth amendment and his previous grant of immunity by Joe Biden.
My response was short, purposeful and direct. Why would Anthony Fauci need criminal immunity? A lengthy reframing of the question resulted from my friend, who essentially then repeated it. Again, I responded, “why would any agent of the United States govt even begin a thought process that immunity for criminal activity would be needed?”
Silently, inside my mind I wonder if perhaps I’ve spent too much time learning about the way Russian people think. They are like American mid-westerners of old; the questions are much shorter and more direct; there is no pretense.
Why did Fauci need immunity? Why indeed. Someone knew something, eh?
That sense, the one we all carry that alerts us when something just doesn’t add up, doesn’t sit right, doesn’t reconcile unless we pretend something else exists in the sentence to explain the stuff that doesn’t reconcile. The stuff inside the sentence we create in order to explain or justify is the nonexistent stuff, the pretending stuff. Take the pretending out of the thought, and suddenly you know the answer. [Again, now you are thinking like a Russian.]
We are in an abusive relationship with government. The COVID-19 experience created a shortcut to show us just how extensive and abusive that relationship is. How many Americans have physically been harmed in this example, and how many millions more are suffering the downstream consequences of continued codependent denial.
COVID-19 was the embodiment of the truism: “when push comes to shove.”
How far are you willing to go -what pain are you willing to suffer through- to retain your definition of liberty, freedom and sovereign control. Is there a price? The COVID-19 experience gave us all the uncomfortable answers….. and now the discussion necessarily gets quiet in mixed company.
Many people are angry. Many people have every emotional right to be angry. The scale of vaccine compliance suffering runs the gambit from collapsed friendships to lost jobs, broken marriages, to painful isolation and yes, to death itself.
There is no way to measure cold anger at a scale not entirely visible.
Several years ago, CTH said to gently avoid touching the sensitive nerve of those vaccinated, there is no way for them to retreat from the decision. Done is done.
Genuine human empathy must be applied generously, while simultaneously a pragmatic perspective must be maintained.
Each person can define and judge but choosing to express that judgement is a different matter entirely. Remember, for the vaccinated all discussion is zero-sum.
As the revelations about the vaccine administrators, their thoughts, their severely compromised and corrupt activity continues to surface, it is worthwhile reminding ourselves that some people need to retain cognitive denial in order to avoid seeing the vaccinated person in the mirror.
The credibility of all U.S. government institutions has collapsed; all of them.
Let me repeat. When you stop pretending you accept the credibility of all U.S. government institutions has collapsed in our lifetime. The only people left covering for this collapse are those who need to retain the illusion of institutional credibility.

This sounds like a very “pathologically flexible” virus. The core question is whether incorporating bits and pieces of it in a chimera like COVID-19 would carry some of those behaviors into the new virus.

The other day I posted a meme about virus patents & some of the discussions on the Grok answers, I think, were that nobody “patents” a virus, but they can patent the genome that they sequenced. The quote of “this invention” implies action to create the “virus”, at least that’s how I read it. Bio-weapons should be banned (not that that would stop the bad guys) 😡 😡 😡
